Calling All FRIENDS Fans: Visit the Real Central Perk
Updated: June 17, 2021
I’m a huge Friends fan. It’s just one of those shows that never gets old or stops being funny. I know, I know, the series has been over for well over a decade. I love it, and I know I’m not alone, right?
When Jorge and I got married, he watched the entire series to understand my Friends references better. If that’s not a keeper, I don’t know what is.
We were trying to decide where to go for our 6th wedding anniversary, and Los Angeles was high on the list. The main reason was that I knew the real Central Perk set was still up at the WB Studios and that you could hang out there!
Click here to book your own studio tour of Central Perk
*Please note the Warner Bros. Studio tours reopened on June 26, 2021 . Keep in mind; there may be restrictions or temporary closings due to covid. Thankfully, GetYourGuide offers free cancellations up to 24 hours before the scheduled tour.
About the WB Studio Tour
Your ticket includes a tour of different parts of the WB studio, where you get to see how Hollywood is made. The studio is in Burbank, California, about a 20-minute drive up from downtown LA.
I absolutely loved the tour, and it’s completely worth the money, especially if you’re a Friends fan. Here’s what $69 pp gets you:
- Tour the exterior sets and locations that are used for some of your favorite shows and movies (including Friends locations besides Central Perk)
- Visit various soundstages for shows still being taped
- See the props department for shows and movies
- See the original Batmobile
- Explore Harry Potter and DC comic book stuff (not my thang)
- Experience the Big Bang Theory set
- Then you visit Studio 48, which is an interactive soundstage that lets you see the different phases of film and television
- Last but not least, in Studio 48, you’ll find the Central Perk set , and right after the set, you can grab a cup of real coffee at the working replica of the Central Perk Café
See the Real Friends Central Perk Set
Of course, my favorite part of the entire tour was seeing the original Central Perk . The production soundstage is mostly as it was on the show, and it’s so cool to experience it and sit on the orange couch. It made a lot of my friends back home jealous, haha!
Not only that, but the entire tour, in general, takes you to different scenes from the show, including the Gellar house. More on that below.
Film Your Own Friends Episode
The best part, though? WB Studio made Central Perk into an interactive set. So now you can film a Friends clip during your tour. We did a scene from “The One with Phoebe’s Birthday Dinner.”
If you get chosen, you can play a character in that scene. Jorge was selected to play Joey, and I was Gunther. I made a damn good barista. They go over the lines with the characters on the couch and do it *almost* like they would on a real show. It was such a fun activity!
I was instructed to serve fake coffee and make fake small talk with those at the counter. They cut the scene to make it look like Phoebe and Monica are really in the shot and are talking to you. I wish they let you buy the clip, but because of legal reasons, they can’t.
More fake coffee in my huge mug, please.
I didn’t want to leave the set.
If you ever want to visit the Friends apartment building that’s located in NYC, you can find that at 90 Bedford St, New York, NY. The downstairs part of that building that’s supposed to be “Central Perk” is a restaurant with some great food!
I suggest you go for photos but stay for dinner or lunch. You can make a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time. If you’re in NYC and looking for more photo spots, check out my post HERE .
More Friends Locations
This is the Gellar’s house from Friends; it’s just one big ol’ fake house! Right down the block, you will find the Gilmore Girls house and also Pretty Little Liars — they point out a lot of locations for all of those shows. This also varies on the current shows, so you may see different sites.
This is inside the Gellar’s house. Remember “The One with the Prom Video,” Where Ross is coming down the stairs ready to ask Rachel to prom, but she leaves with her actual date? This is where it was shot:
This is where Monica and Rachel were hiding from Jean-Claude Van Damme in “The One After the Superbowl” :
You’ll also see the tiny piece of a park used as “central park” in the show. Remember when Phoebe and Rachel went for a run and Rachel hit a horse? That “park” is also used in many other movies and shows.
More Sets: See the Full(er) House
One of the exterior sets you can visit during the tour is the Full(er) House. As you may know, the outside shot of the house was filmed in San Francisco (you can get a picture of that at 1709 Broderick Street), but they still needed a facade on set to do porch scenes.
I watched Full House growing up and now follow Fuller House, so it was cool to see the set (outside and inside). They don’t let you take photos when you go into the soundstage. Boo, I know.
The Big Bang Theory Set
I was so excited to see The Big Bang Theory soundstage! Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any pictures, but the apartments look a lot smaller in person.
I planned our tour strategically because I knew that usually, you could only visit certain soundstages when they’re not taping. I booked our tickets for Easter Sunday when no tapings were happening, so we had more flexibility on the tour.
You can also get free tickets to a live taping at the studio of either TBBT or Fuller House! If I had known sooner, I would’ve tried to get some before our trip. If you live near the area, it’s worth checking out. Find tickets to shows HERE .
*2021 UPDATE: Since these shows above are finished and no longer taping, you can still follow that link to book tickets to any show being taped at Warner Bros. Studios.
Another awesome update is that the Studio Tour now includes a visit to the Big Bang Theory set as part of the experience!
Moving on, this is Hennesy Street, where many movies and shows are filmed:
After the tour is done, you can stop at the cafe, a replica of Central Perk. You can get coffee, buy Central Perk coffee bags, eat some Friends cupcakes, everything a crazy fan would love!
I had so much fun doing the tour and cannot recommend it enough. If you’re a fan, you won’t be disappointed. Click here to book your own studio tour of Central Perk.

Hi, A family friend purchased the “Froends couch” from the production company in 2019 and still own it.
Ive heard wonderful things about this place. My family went for a visit and loved it…, unrelated.. I’ve been streaming the show, back to back episodes and I notice the color orange features predominantly in the show… the couch, for one, of Course. But also a lot of the clothes and decor and accessories…. People don’t generally wear as much orange as the show puts on for a whole decade! Is it some kind of obsession for the cast or producers? Just about every episode for ten years has some orange splash somewhere in it.
Thanks for reading! And what a great observation, I never noticed it and will pay more attention next time I watch. I wonder if orange and purple were just their signature “friends” colors after finding the couch.
Hi there. I too is a HUGE FRIENDS fan and I’m going to see the friends set this fall. I was wondering if you could tell me, how it works with the tipping. I live I Denmark and we don’t tip here and I noticed on the website that it says tip not included in the price. How do we go about that? Ps. Love your writing
Hi Cecilie! With tipping on a tour it normally happens at the end and is given directly to the tour guide. So throughout the tour you’ll be on a little “tour cart” and he/she drives you around the sets etc. Then at the end (when you’re going in to see the friends set) people get off the cart and tip the tour guide cash as they’re exiting. It’s not mandatory, but it can be expected. You can tip anything from a few dollars up to 20% of the tour cost. Many do 10%, 15%. Hope this helps! And thanks so much for reading. 🙂 You’re going to love this tour!
Omg! I wish I could go there one day but I live in England 🏴 which is very far away but hopefully one day 🤞🏼
It’s such a fun experience! Hopefully you can make it one day, too 🙂
Does this tour also include Monica a new Joey apartment
Hi there! This is the just the original central perk set in the studio where they used to film Friends. It’s not like the tours that go to different cities and put up a “Friends Experience” so you wouldn’t find Monica or Joey’s apartment here, but trust me this tour is better!
Thanks you guys are the best! I am flying out there just for my birthday cuz my hubby is the bestest. So I want to maximize my experience. You guys helped a ton!!!!
Was all of this included in the standard tour? And, how does the filming a scene thing work? I am a major friends fan! You have to get chosen – or can everyone participate? Thanks for your help!
Yes, all of this was included in the standard tour! Pretty amazing. For the filming scene, once you get to the central perk set, there’ll be a small group of you. The people who film it introduce the set and ask for volunteers to do the scene as the main characters. Raise your hand if you’re not shy! Then they grab a few more from the group to play “extras”. I think only a few were left who didn’t take part (probably by choice) because there’s plenty of room to play an extra. After the scene, you can line up (short line because normally groups are kept very small) for photos on the orange couch or along the counter (as you saw in our photos). We lined up twice to get photos in each spot haha! Hope this helps 🙂
Here’s one good advice. Have your phone or camera ready. They play the recording on the TV’s right after you finish the scene. Then it gets automatically deleted. You can’t copy it as a file. There shouldn’t be a problem staying for another recording with a following group though.
Jakub, great tip and reminder! I did also record the tv to have the taping on my phone for my own personal use. They had no issues with that whatsoever! And that’s so true that you can probably stay to do the scene with the next group in case you didn’t get to do it during your turn. Thanks for the comment!
Wait, whaaaaat?! I didn’t get to do the “filming a scene” thing?! That sounds so cool. I wish I’d taken more photos haha, yours are amazing! That’s AWESOME that you got to see Big Bang Theory sets too, although a shame you can’t take photos. I guess you might be able to once it’s finished…? I love that you strategically booked it, too! Haha.
Oh man you must go back to do the scene! Haha it was so fun! I loved the whole tour. And thanks for the kind words 🙂 I loved being able to see other sets, but yeah I wish they let us take photos.
I’m gonna do the WB Studio tour next week. As a huge F*R*I*E*N*D*S fan, I’ve noticed one thing. The couch is just a replica 🙁 This is not the one they used in the show. The wooden supports on the sides are different. The original was probably sold couple of years ago. I don’t understand why 🙁
That’s so unfortunate and confusing! When you try to read up on it they mention the show having more than one couch on there. Like one from season 1-3 and one from season 4-10? Who really knows though. And I saw that they changed the wording on the studio tour! When I did it back in 2016 it said “original” and now it says replica. Why they would sell it is beyond me! Either way, the tour is tons of fun!!
This is so cool!!! I’ve been to LA a ton but never to anything like this! I love that you are in the photos too 🙂 Is Fuller House good?! I haven’t watched it. I do love Friends, though!
Thanks so much, Christie!!! I’m trying to work my way into photos more often. And the first few episodes of Fuller House are cheesy, actually there’s still some cheese throughout the seasons (it’s full house c’mon) but the story line gets better and funnier as it goes on.
[…] Book a WB Studio tour to see how Hollywood is made, especially if you’re a Friends fan. I raved about it in my last post, you can read about that HERE. […]
That sounds like such a fun and unique experience! I know you’re going to be horrified but I only ever watched like 2 episodes of Friends. Crazy right? I did, however, watch Gilmore Girls in college (mainly because my roomie was obsessed with the show haha!).
Grace, you must watch the whole series!! 🙂
I have never been to the studio lol but I’m a huge fan of Friends! I few months ago I binge watched the series again! Too bad you couldn’t take pics of TBBT set. I love that show!
I know I was so disappointed that we couldn’t take pictures inside! But it was cool either way, I saw Howard and Bernadette’s minivan set up with the green screen on my way out lol.

The one with the visitors: the immersive friends experience is back in chicago.
Melina Chalkia/The Daily Northwestern
“I KNOW!” The “Friends” set has arrived in Chicago to give everyone an immersive peek into the world of the popular sitcom.
Melina Chalkia , Reporter April 19, 2021
“I’ll be there for you…” and now “Friends” will be there for Chicago, too.
After its successful launch in 2020, The FRIENDS Experience has reopened its doors to the Chicago area, offering an exclusive and interactive peek into the lives of everyone’s favorite friends.
The immersive exhibit, located at 540 N. Michigan Ave., offers 12 immersive set recreations from the hit 90s sitcom — including Central Perk, Monica and Rachel’s apartment, Joey and Chandler’s apartment and the stairwell from the iconic Pivot scene. The exhibit also showcases original costumes, props and scripts signed by the entire cast.
The exhibit was first installed in 2019 in New York City and Boston to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary, according to senior creative director Terry McMahon. Due to its success, the experience expanded to Chicago and is projected to reach other cities and countries in the future, he said.
The FRIENDS Experience was produced by entertainment company Superfly X, a spin-off from its comedy festivals, which includes set recreations as a way to celebrate various comedy TV shows. Jonathan Mayers, founder and CEO of Superfly X, said the team was encouraged to create the “Friends” pop-up after seeing the comedy festivals gain traction.
Mayers said the team put their attention to detail to create an immersive experience for visitors. The experience is unique, he said, because it moves away from the traditional museum exhibit structure.
“We have fans come through The FRIENDS Experience and get emotional,” Mayers said. “We all have these engagements and emotional connections with the space and people in these shows, because you are inviting them into your home.”
The whole experience lasts about 45 minutes and can be enjoyed either individually, in a group of 15 people or as a private access tour, Mayers said.
As part of the production process, McMahon, senior creative director, said he had to know every small detail of “Friends” and choose the most iconic pieces of the show, such as the opening fountain scene and the Central Perk hangouts between the six friends.
“It was a lot of figuring out what sets and what moments we wanted to highlight,” McMahon said. “We tried to bring all these sets into life, which was very fun because it’s never bad when your homework is to watch TV.”
McMahon said he is particularly proud of the building block recreation of the Central Perk, in which visitors “mesh” the nostalgia of watching “Friends” and playing with building blocks as a child.
Monica Saenz De Viteri, who visited the event with her daughter, said she recommends it to all those who grew up with the show in addition to the next generation of “Friends” viewers.
“The staff was super friendly and helpful and the set-up was amazing,” De Viteri said. “I truly enjoyed the experience.”
For Patricia Popichak, looking at the iconic purple door from Monica and Rachel’s apartment gave her goosebumps. She enjoyed seeing the apartments and the coffee shop “where all the magic happened.”
Popichak fell in love with the dynamic of the group in the show because the characters were relatable and “stood the test of time together.” At the time, she said she was too young to understand the depth of the characters.
“The most interesting fact was the amount of coffee this crew drank — (Lisa Kudrow) apparently had the most,” Popichak said. “At the final place we visited, Central Perk, we grabbed a couple of coffees and sat (down), appreciating just how much joy this set brought to us.”

Friends Experience interactive tour is coming to six new cities
Relive moments from the series with re-created sets and props.
- Named a Tech Media Trailblazer by the Consumer Technology Association in 2019, a winner of SPJ NorCal's Excellence in Journalism Awards in 2022 and has three times been a finalist in the LA Press Club's National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards.
Fans of the sitcom Friends will now be able to relive the series with new tour locations for The Friends Experience. The experience, which was first launched in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta and Dallas to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary , lets visitors re-create moments from the show with props and sets modeled after those in the show, like Monica's kitchen and the iconic Friends fountain.
Next year, the experience will be coming to six new cities: Nashville, Tennessee; Denver; Phoenix; San Francisco; Washington, DC; and Toronto. You can go to the Friends Experience website to join the waitlist and learn more about opening dates and ticket sales when they become available.
The Friends Experience's New York City flagship will continue to sell tickets through March 27. Those tickets cost $45 plus taxes and fees, and can be purchased via the Friends Experience New York page .
In addition to set re-creations, visitors can see original props and costumes from the show and can shop at the Friends Experience store. (The store is also open to the public.) The New York City location also has a grab-and-go cafe within a re-created Central Perk.
COVID-19 protocols will be in place for the tours, including social distancing, mask requirements and "thorough cleaning and sanitization measures," according to a release.
If you're looking to refresh your memory on the series (or watch it for the first time), all episodes are streaming on HBO Max .
‘Friends’ Experience brings the hit TV show to life in interactive pop-up
The two-level pop-up has been carefully assembled with an incredible eye for detail, offering 12 rooms and activations that resurrect the ‘90s classic tv series in all its glory..

Touting a full re-creation of Central Perk, a wigged-out display of Rachel’s evolving hairdos, even the chance to bug Ugly Naked Guy, the new interactive “Friends Experience — The One in Chicago” opening Thursday at The Shops At North Bridge couldn’t BE any more of dream come true for fans of the long-running television hit series.
The two-level pop-up (located at 540 N. Michigan Avenue) has been carefully assembled with an incredible eye for detail, offering 12 rooms and activations that resurrect the ‘90s classic TV series in all its glory. In addition to a look at actual scripts and original costumes utilized by the all-star cast, the main event is the numerous selfie-worthy spots that offer authentic re-creations, like Chandler and Joey’s apartment (complete with foosball table and recliners), the infamous “Pivot!” staircase and couch, and the iconic fountain featured in the show’s opening credits.
Created by Superfly X, the global entertainment group behind Bonnarroo and Outside Lands music festivals, “The Friends Experience” was first staged in 2019 in New York City and Boston to commemorate the show’s 25 th anniversary. Yet increasing fan demand encouraged creators to bring it to Chicago where the pop-up will enjoy one of its longest runs as well as one of its largest footprints, one of the unlikely benefits of social distancing guidelines the team is stringently adhering to as they get ready to open.
The measures include temperature checks upon entry, UV sterilization/ongoing cleaning of all surfaces, utilizing timed entry to ensure small groups of visitors, hand sanitizing stations throughout the experience and disinfecting wipes brilliantly tagged as being “Monica Clean!” In addition, face masks are required; for those who forget to bring one, “Friends”-themed designs will be available for purchase.
Take a selfie (or two) at the famous “Friends” fountain, part of the “Friends Experience — The One in Chicago” at The Shops at North Bridge.
“COVID was a challenge and disruption, of course, but for us it was important to keep going when we determined we could provide a safe experience for the fans and for the staff,” says Superfly X Founder and CEO Jonathan Mayers. “And look, what have we been doing during the pandemic but binging some of our favorite shows? This experience is as really as close as you can get to the show beyond just watching it and will hopefully be a joyful moment in these difficult times.”
The minutiae of details — even creating a ‘90s-era playlist that pipes through the speakers, full of Natalie Merchant and Cranberries hits as heard on the original TV show — brings visitors out of the 2020 doldrums with welcome nostalgia.
A recreation of the iconic couch “Pivot!” scene from the TV series “Friends” is among the sets on display “The Friends Experience” in Chicago.
“It brings you back to that time when a lot of us were younger and life was less stressful,” says Terry McMahon, the experience’s senior creative director and also a Chicago native who says he and his team dedicated copious amounts of hours into watching and re-watching the ten seasons of the show to bring the experience to life. The detail can be seen in features like the oversized “dating wall” that charts each of the main character’s trysts and paramours, and a touchless trivia game that pays homage to the infamous episode when Monica and Rachel challenged Chandler and Joey and end up losing their apartment to the guys.
“There is some data that is available to us, but honestly a lot of it came from watching episodes, looking at screenshots, seeing how sets change over the run of the show and what props are iconic across all the seasons,” McMahon says. In addition to a partnership with Warner Bros. Television Group to source items, he also worked closely with Pilsen’s Chicago Scenic Studios to bring the visions to life. “They were our major partner in figuring out our wall system to printing our graphics to building all the sets. They were just really integral part to us pulling off the scenes.”
“The One In Chicago” edition of “The Friends Experience” offers exclusives that weren’t available previously, including a full recreation of Monica and Rachel’s apartment, a throwback room featuring ephemera from the show’s various ‘80s flashback scenes and a full-blown Central Perk art installation made entirely of plastic toy building blocks.
The various hairstyles of Jennifer Aniston’s character Rachel Green are on exhibit at “The Friends Experience” at 540 N. Michigan Ave.
“We’ve had so much fandom come out that we wanted to highlight different areas we didn’t get to for the first two passes, and that came a lot from fan feedback on what they wanted to see,” says McMahon. The experience has previously attracted show regulars Maggie Wheeler (“Janice”) and James Michael Tyler (“Gunther”) as well as music acts The Rembrandts who penned the “Friends” theme song. There’s no word yet if David Schwimmer — co-founder of Chicago’s Lookingglass Theater just down the street — will pay a visit, though the team would love it.
In addition to general admission tickets, fans can opt for a private access option starting at $350 that allows their “quarantine bubble” of 6-10 people to enjoy it together. Non-ticketholders can also visit the retail store during hours of operation.

Warner Bros.' Famous Studio Tour Just Reopened With New 'Friends' Experiences
Now Friends fans can eat Rachel's infamous trifle, sip character-themed coffee, and shop exclusive merchandise on the Warner Bros.' Studio Tour.
Now you can get a true taste of Friends at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood . The fan experience — which takes place on the actual working Warner Bros. lot in Burbank where the NBC sitcom was originally shot — reopened on Saturday, debuting an expanded Central Perk Café and Friends boutique .
As part of the "Stage 48: Script to Screen" stop on the tour, visitors can now dine on Friends -inspired items, including the infamous English trifle that Jennifer Aniston's character, Rachel Green, made for Thanksgiving. Yes, the one where she accidentally blended a traditional trifle with a shepherd's pie after her cookbook pages got stuck together. (Don't worry, the version served here doesn't have any meat mixed up with the sweet and savory flavors.)
Also on the menu are Central Perk's own cupcakes, New York-style cheesecake (unlike when Rachel and Chandler had to scoop the one from Mama's Little Bakery off the floor, you can eat this off a plate!), and NYC deli favorites like corned beef melts and pizza wedges. There's also a line of drinks inspired by the characters , made with a Central Perk special blend — choose from a matcha latte called The Rachel, a classic flat white called The Ross, a caramel coconut latte called The Chandler, a cookies-and-cream ice blend called The Phoebe, and a mango cold brew tea called The Joey.
All the items can be enjoyed on recreated sets featuring Central Perk, Joey and Chandler's apartment, Monica's apartment, and Greenwich Village. Costumes from the show are also on display. Then cap off the experience by shopping at the Friends boutique with exclusive products not available anywhere else, including kitchen and dining ware.
Friends fans can currently only access the tour and experiences on weekends, but it will expand to five days a week (Thursday through Monday) starting July 15.
The tour also includes other new and expanded features within the Warner Bros. family of entertainment, like a "Storytelling Showcase" documenting the almost-century of Warner Bros. and an "Action and Magic Made Here" exhibit with elements of the DC Universe and Harry Potter films.
Sheldon's apartment from The Big Bang Theory , a Batmobile from Tim Burton's original "Batman," costumes from "Suicide Squad," Harry Potter's recreated cupboard under the stairs, and the late Chadwick Boseman's jersey from "42" are also seen on the tour.

Chicago & Friends in Concert | Synopsis
Leonid & Friends
Passion. Persistence. Perfection. By Scott Schwebke
With multiple sold-out U.S. tours under its belt and hundreds of thousands of fans around the world, Leonid & Friends continues to astound its global audience with its unique ability in capturing the spirit, musicality, and fire of American supergroup Chicago. And what is even more stunning is that Leonid & Friends, comprised of 11 of the finest musicians in Russia, haven't seen Chicago perform live until recently, yet replicates the band’s complex arrangements amazingly note for note. Chicago has never been in Russia, and none of us have attended their concerts until just recently in the United States," said Leonid Vorobyev, a multi-instrumentalist who is the band’s leader. "We have only recordings and videos (to help us learn Chicago songs)."
Ironically, Vorobyev wasn’t always a fan of horn bands, and as a teenager gravitated to the hard-driving guitar-based sounds of the Beatles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Deep Purple, and Grand Funk Railroad. "In the early 1970s in the USSR, electric guitars, amplifiers, and drums were rare to find so at school we were playing self-made instruments," Vorobyev explained. "We were allowed to rehearse in the same room with a horns band. Those musicians almost always were drunk and quite often tried to play with us our rock songs. It was a nightmare, and I hated them all!" But that all changed when Vorobyev heard Chicago. He became an instant fan. "I loved so much the brilliant mixture of rock guitars, drums, and jazz horns with bright vocal harmonies," he said. In 2014, Vorobyev decided to indulge his love for the band by gathering a few fellow musicians in a studio to record a video of them playing his favorite Chicago tune, Brand New Love Affair. No charts or scores of the song existed so Vorobyev transcribed the tune by ear. The result was a YouTube video that quickly went viral. Since then Leonid & Friends has recorded videos of other Chicago hits including Make Me Smile , 25 or 6 to 4 , and Saturday In The Park . All total the videos have received more than 50 million views. Also, Leonid & Friends has recorded two albums showcasing its tribute to Chicago. The process of getting each tune just right is a painstaking labor of love. In addition to scoring and arranging, Vorobyev oversees mixing and mastering of each song. However, he credits his highly skilled bandmates for making each tune sing. "All of my musician friends are highly professional," he said. However, Leonid & Friends hasn’t been satisfied with merely connecting with fans through videos and recordings. In early 2019, the band embarked on its first tour outside of Russia that had fans dancing in the aisles at sold-out shows in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Florida. Two other scorching coast-to-coast U.S. tours followed that same year. “The fans were so eager to see us that some traveled from as far as Hawaii and the Philippines not mentioning flying across the U.S .and driving for hours to attend our shows,” Vorobyev said. “I was expecting a warm greeting but I didn't expect such a warm reception and with so much love and gratitude for us.” In Los Angeles, the band met its musical heroes, founding members of Chicago, keyboardist Robert Lamm, and drummer Danny Seraphine as well as Michelle Kath Sinclair, daughter of late, great Chicago guitarist Terry Kath. “We were so thrilled that Robert, Danny, and Michelle took the time to visit with us,” Vorobyev said. “It was an experience that we will cherish and remember forever.” When Leonid & Friends isn’t touring, band members are in the studio in Moscow immersing themselves in Chicago’s storied catalog of hits and deep tracks while preparing for the next tour. In September of 2018, the band recorded its first song from legendary supergroup Earth, Wind, & Fire and also paid tribute to the band Blood, Sweat & Tears as well. Borrowing a line from one of Chicago's biggest hits, "it's only the beginning" of great things from Leonid & Friends.
Scott Schwebke has been a journalist for more than 30 years and a longtime fan of Chicago dating back to its incarnation as CTA. His work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Denver Post, Orange County Register and various publications across the U.S.

Leonid Vorobyev
Musical director and founder of Leonid & Friends.
Leonid Vorobyev is the leader and founder of the band Leonid & Friends. He is the band’s producer, plays bass and piano, sings lead and backing vocals, transcribes all the musical sources, and he produces, mixes, and masters all audio and video productions. Leonid graduated from East Siberian Institute of Culture as a Choir Conductor. He had been working in various bands as a bass player and a singer when in 1989 he chose studio operations as his main interest and began a career as a record-mix engineer and sound producer. He has been working as a music producer, sound engineer, composer, and musician for about 30 years. Many Russian bands and singers have passed through his hands and ears. At the end of 2014, Leonid decided to give himself a gift to celebrate his retirement by recording a cover version of Chicago’s song Brand New Love Affair. No charts or scores of the song existed so he transcribed the musical source by ear, called upon his friends and recorded the song. What happened when the song was released surprised everyone and was the start of the new project ‘Leonid & Friends’.
Vasilii Akimov
Vocals/Guitar
A graduate of the Irkutsk College of the Arts and Institute of Contemporary Art. Vasily has won several international music competitions. He has been a member of the Russian hard rock band Monomakh, where he won praise from former Black Sabbath frontman Ronnie James Dio.
Sergey Kashirin
Vocals/Guitar (Former Member)
Sergey Kashirin was born in 1982 in Tiraspol, Transnistria, in Eastern Europe. A music enthusiast at an early age, Sergey began singing and playing guitar when he was only 8 years old. Following his musical dreams throughout his school years, he was accepted into the Tiraspol Rubinstein Musical College from which he graduated. After graduation, Sergey moved to Moscow where he quickly found work as a studio session musician playing for many Russian pop and rock stars. This led to live performance requests as well. Sergey is a founder of several musical projects, three of which are Real Bodrit, Rock Band, and Smilin’man, a multi-genre project of depth which allows him to stretch his musical and vocal talents. Many people took notice of his talents and in 2012, he began composing music for the film and television industries. Along the way, Sergey made many friends in the music industry and considered a number of them very close. In 2014, he was approached by one of those friends and asked to participate in recording a cover of a song from the American band Chicago for Leonid Vorobyev. The audio recording and subsequent video of the song Brand New Love Affair were not supposed to be anything more than a birthday gift to his friend but the rest of the world didn’t see it that way. After posting it on YouTube for their friends to view the word began to spread, and what was supposed to be a simple act of kindness for his friend, turned into the band Leonid & Friends recording many more songs which have been viewed in over 150 countries at last count. Sergey, being a founding member, performs regularly in both studio and live performances.
Serge Tiagniryadno
Serge Tiagniryadno was born and lives in Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine where he runs the popular recording studio Crystal Sound of which he founded. Serge is a multi-instrumentalist who plays guitar, bass guitar, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, drums, and keyboards. He’s combined those talents with his smooth vocals as a member of numerous bands throughout the area such as Seven Seas, and Ocheretyaniy Kit. Serge’s love for music started at the age of three with the guitar, and at four years old he began formal lessons on the piano. When he turned nine he added clarinet to the mix. He later went on to study as a television and film director at the Karpenko-Kariy Kiev National University of Theatre, Cinema and Television and he also attended the Kiev Institute of Theatrical Arts. Serge’s introduction to Leonid & Friends came by way of Trent Gardner, the web manager of the band Chicago. He conducted an online contest for Leonid to find a vocal talent comparable to that of Chicago’s Peter Cetera. Serge recorded his first song with Leonid & Friends in the summer of 2015 from his own studio in Kiev but didn’t personally meet the band members until the spring of 2016. Since then he’s been featured in numerous tracks by the band and performs regularly with them on the road.

He started by learning well-known melodies and played them for friends and family long before learning to read music. When he was eight years old, he enrolled in the local School of Music to study the accordion. At the young age of fourteen, he earned admission to the College of Music, where he began seriously studying the accordion and piano. Sergey did so well that at 18, he was awarded admission to the Kyrgyzstan National Conservatory of Music in Bishkek to continue studying the piano, his long time dream. After graduating in 2004, he moved to Moscow, where celebrity singers began requesting his talents. Since then, Sergey has worked and performed with many top musical acts and together with his wife, an excellent singer in her own right, have organized concerts. In 2020, Sergey, his wife, their three sons, and Lucky, their dog, received an early Christmas present. They learned that Sergey was selected to play keyboards for Leonid & Friends, replacing their long time player Vlad Senchillo who left earlier in the year. During his first live streaming concert with the band, Roman Vorobyev introduced him to the fans. Sergey said, “When I saw Leonid & Friends on YouTube, I thought myself maybe one day I would play in a band like this. But now I’m here, it’s a magic, thank you my God, and I very glad to be part of Leonid & Friends. Thank you very much, thank you for trust and I want to see our friends in the future.”

Right from the beginning, the trumpet grabbed Andrey’s attention and he’s never looked back. He also developed an appreciation for the rhythms of music which led him to play percussion instruments but in his words “Trumpet is more fun!” He is a graduate of the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music. Oleg Kudryavtsev
Oleg Kudryavtcev was born in Severodvinsk, located on the White Sea coast of the Arkhangelsk region, Russia, in 1984. His parents, a musician and kindergarten teacher, realized his affection for music early and at 9 years old his father enrolled him in a school of music and proposed that he should consider the saxophone. Although Oleg was interested in every instrument he saw, he agreed with his father and began formal studies. Everyone quickly realized how well Oleg was progressing and the decision was made to further his studies. Oleg transferred to the college of music in Arkhangelsk and then on to the Academy of music in Moscow. He remained in Moscow and began playing in various groups performing in a variety of musical styles. He never gravitated toward a single genre saying, “I have no preference in music styles. I love Pop, Funk, Soul, Jazz, Indie, electronic, anything is fine with me.” Oleg went on to work with many artists and played for years with the popular group Bravo which was established in 1983, a year before he was born. In 2017 he was excited to audition for Leonid & Friends because he’s loved the music of Chicago since childhood. He said, “My father introduced me to their creativity.” Looking back on his first USA tour with Leonid & Friends, Oleg said, “I am very grateful to my parents and teachers for helping me to become a professional musician. I love my profession and the smiles of the audiences at the concerts. It is very important for me in life.”
Maxim Likhachev
Maxim Likhachev was born and raised in Moscow where he continues to live today. His love for music began early as a student where he focused on wind instruments. He learned to play the euphonium and its variants as well as various percussion instruments, but his heart centered on the trombone of which he is known for. His talent led him to play in a children's brass band and ensemble with a choir and choreography. He entered the musical institute majoring in trombone and focusing on classical music in preparation for a spot in a symphony orchestra. While studying his musical plans abruptly changed the day he was invited to play in a rock band. He was hooked and he never looked back. Along the way Maxim was introduced to the sounds of the American band Chicago from the early albums and he developed a love for the band and their style that is with him to this day. After graduating from the Moscow Music Institute of Gnesin, he played with many of Russia’s top bands and felt right at home performing studio session work as well. Since his graduation he has remained in rock music and travelled extensively performing in numerous festivals within Russia as well as many places in Europe. Maxim explains that when he got the call to join Leonid & Friends, he felt his dreams of many years had come true. “To play the music I have loved since my youth with an amazing cast of fellow musicians whom I love, and being led by an incomparable director, Leonid Vorobyev, I don’t know how things can get any better musically for me.“ His personal life is singing from the same song book as well. With his loving wife and 3 children by his side, Maxim is proof of what hard work will do for you. He began playing with Leonid & Friends nearly 3 years ago and has become a gem of the bands brass section. Many friends of the band favor Maxim and his “Magic Trombone”, and they’re sure there is plenty of magic left in his playing.

Hulu's new docuseries is perfect if you're sick of hearing about taylor swift's eras tour.
Though Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour is one of the hottest concert movies right now, Hulu’s Thank You, Goodnight is a different and perfect alternative.
- The Bon Jovi documentary on Hulu offers a refreshing break from Taylor Swift's Eras Tour hype.
- Bon Jovi's journey from the 80s to now is explored in Thank You, Goodnight, a four-episode docuseries.
- Despite their different stories, both the Eras Tour and Bon Jovi's anniversary concert showcase huge behind-the-scenes work.
For over a year, Taylor Swift's Eras Tour has taken over pop culture, and with its release as a movie in October 2023, it is very hard to avoid, but luckily Hulu has released its own concert documentary, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story , which is a perfect replacement for those interested in music but sick of hearing about Swift. Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story is a four-episode docuseries currently streaming on Hulu, which follows iconic rock star Jon Bon Jovi as he reminisces about his band, Bon Jovi, and rehearses for a 40th anniversary concert.
Bon Jovi's band members include lead singer Jon Bon Jovi, keyboardist David Bryan, drummer Tico Torres, guitarist Richie Sambora, and bassist Alec John Such. The band, originating from New Jersey, put themselves on the map in 1984 when they released their first single and album, "Runaway." However, they truly blew up two years later upon the release of their third album, "Slippery When Wet." Since then, Bon Jovi has become a staple of the rock genre, with countless iconic songs including "Livin' on a Prayer," "You Give Love a Bad Name," and "Wanted Dead or Alive."
8 Ways The Eras Tour Movie Is Better Than Taylor Swift’s Previous Concert Films
Hulu's new bon jovi documentary shows a very different world compared to taylor swift's eras tour, thank you, goodnight focuses on rock.
What makes Thank You, Goodnight a great watch in relation to The Eras Tour is that it tells a similar story but in a completely different world . The Eras Tour is a retrospective on Swift's previous albums, and Thank You, Goodnight looks back on Bon Jovi's 40 years as a band, but their paths are wildly different. Thank You, Goodnight starts off in the 1980s, exploring Jon Bon Jovi's roots in New Jersey, then delves into the world of 1980s rock .
Where The Eras Tour is cemented in the current, Thank You, Goodnight is very reminiscent of the past.
This difference in time periods really sets Thank You, Goodnight apart from The Eras Tour. Taylor Swift is incredibly popular, and her career is still booming, with Eras being a definite peak. Bon Jovi, on the other hand, has slowed down considerably, but more than that, they have a legacy preceding them. The docuseries has less to do with their current endeavors, and more about their impact on an entire genre from the 1980s and beyond. Furthermore, the ambiance is quite different. Swift's sparkly Eras Tour outfits and scenes are replaced by long rockstar hair and old concert footage.
Jon Bon Jovi is 62 years old.
Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story Complements Taylor Swift's Eras Tour In One Respect
Bon jovi and taylor swift have one thing in common.
Despite their vast differences, The Eras Tour and Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story have one thing in common. Both projects explore what it is like to put up a huge concert in the current day. Though these concerts are coming at different times in each artists' career, the Eras Tour and Bon Jovi's 40th anniversary tour are both massive moments that have incredible work put into them. Both the documentary movie and the docuseries successfully explore the highs and lows of putting on a stadium tour when you're an incredibly beloved musical artist.
Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story (2024)
