This epic new cruise itinerary will hit more destinations than you thought possible

Gene Sloan

Holland America is going big with its latest around-the-world cruise.

The Seattle-based line on Monday revealed plans for a globe-circling voyage in 2026 lasting 132 days — as many as 19 days longer than other around-the-world sailings it's offered in recent years.

Kicking off in Fort Lauderdale on Jan. 4, 2026, the Grand World Voyage, as the line is calling it, will include visits to all seven continents — a relative rarity for world cruises. It'll also include extensive time in South America and Northern Europe — which is tough to pull off logistically on an around-the-world cruise.

For more cruise news, guides and tips, sign up for TPG's cruise newsletter .

"This one is ambitious in the sense that we're really stretching that line ... all the way down the east coast of South America to Antarctica and providing that experience and then working our way kind of diagonally back up to the Mediterranean and Northern Europe," Paul Grigsby, Holland America's vice president for deployment and itinerary planning, told TPG in an exclusive interview in advance of the announcement.

Grigsby noted that an around-the-world cruise the line offered in 2019 included stops in Northern Europe but not an extensive exploration of South America. To get both regions into the 2026 itinerary, Grigsby's team had to make the sailing considerably longer than the 2019 sailing. The 2019 sailing was just 113 days in length.

"I think we're more comfortable now with longer cruises," Grigsby noted.

In the last couple of years, Holland America has been doubling down on longer sailings , something for which the line has long been known. The line's efforts to add more longer sailings have included the addition of a new series of so-called Legendary Voyages that focus on a single region and range from 25 to 59 nights in length.

The newly announced world cruise will feature stops in 47 ports in 39 countries in all — a hefty number for a world cruise offered by any line.

Around the world from Fort Lauderdale

As is often the case with Holland America's around-the-world cruises, the just-announced 2026 sailing will take place on the 1,432-passenger Volendam, one of the smallest Holland America vessels.

After starting in Fort Lauderdale, Volendam will first head southward to Barbados in the Caribbean before working its way down the east coast of South America toward Antarctica. Stops in South America will include Devil's Island in French Guiana; Belem, Recife and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; Punta del Este and Montevideo in Uruguay; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Falkland Islands.

From the Falklands, Volendam will continue southward to Antarctica for a multiday visit before cruising along the coast of Chile and into the Chilean fjords. It'll then cross the Pacific to French Polynesia, New Zealand and Australia on a course that will take it past the rarely visited destinations of Easter Island and Pitcairn Island.

Easter Island and the islands of French Polynesia have ranked high in surveys from Grigsby's itinerary planning team that asked past passengers where they want to go, according to Grigsby.

In particular, Easter Island is a "bucket list destination" for many Holland America regulars, and the South Pacific is "one of the top-rated regions," he said.

Australia also is popular with Holland America passengers, which prompted Grigsby's team to work in stops in the Australian ports of Sydney, Townsville, Cairns and Darwin. Both the Townsville and Cairns stops allow for excursions to Australia's Great Barrier Reef.

"I don't think I would ever not have Australia and New Zealand in a world cruise," Grigsby said. "It always rates high among our guests."

From Australia, Volendam will head to Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, Sri Lanka and the Maldives before quickly transiting through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal to Europe.

R elated: Holland America unveils another epic cruise — this time with a twist

In contrast to many world cruises of the past, stops in the Middle East have been mostly left off the schedule, with the exception of calls in Safaga and Alexandria in Egypt to allow for visits to the ancient Egyptian sites of Luxor along the Nile and the Great Pyramids near Cairo. That's in part because of waning interest in the region among world travelers due to the recent outbreak of war in Gaza and attacks on shipping in the Red Sea.

"I don't think you'd be surprised to know that the area around Dubai (in the Persian Gulf) and Oman is of less interest to our guests than it has been in the past," Grigsby noted. "That's why you find a fairly speedy transit through the Red Sea and Suez Canal."

Once in Europe, Volendam will stop in a wide range of destinations, including the Mediterranean ports of Piraeus, Greece (the port for Athens); Civitavecchia (the port for Rome) and Naples in Italy; and Alicante, Spain.

More northerly ports will include Oslo, Norway, and Copenhagen, Denmark.

Among the more unusual stops in Europe will be Bordeaux, France, which is on the Garonne River in southwestern France. It's a port that is only accessible to smaller cruise vessels such as Volendam.

The voyage will visit 39 countries in all, with stops at 47 ports.

Nine of the calls will be overnight, allowing for more in-depth touring. These overnight calls include stops in Rio de Janeiro, Sydney, Safaga, Alexandria and Lisbon.

The longer stays are in places where Holland America's past passengers have said they wanted longer stays, Grigsby said, citing data from an extensive survey of more than 30,000 past passengers.

Early booking bonus

Fares for the newly announced Grand World Voyage won't be announced until May, when the sailing goes on sale to the general public. But Holland America on Monday said it would offer an early booking bonus of up to $2,000 per person in onboard credit and a free Wi-Fi Surf package to those who book the sailing early. The company didn't specify a deadline for getting the bonus.

In addition, passengers who pay for the sailing in full will get a 3% discount on their fares.

Additional perks for passengers who book early will include a $500-per-person air credit when booking air through Holland America's Flight Ease program and complimentary round-trip airport transfers to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).

Passengers also will get complimentary luggage delivery service to and from the Fort Lauderdale airport, prepaid gratuities (called "crew appreciation" fees at Holland America) and included laundry and dry cleaning service when booking certain cabin categories.

While the voyage won't be available to book until May, would-be passengers can reserve a spot now through May by making a future cruise request from Holland America's World Cruise Reservations team at 800-522-3399 or through their travel adviser.

World Cruises

World cruises typically depart in January and last approximately 100 nights, though there are some world cruises that are longer or depart later in the year. They are available in their entirety, or in segments of about 10 to 90 nights.

Instead, price breaks come in the form of early booking offers, past-passenger deals, and additional discounts which apply only to customers of the largest sellers of cruises. As the largest cruise seller in the world, Vacations To Go has access to all of these special rates.

Need email address of the CEO or President of Holland America

I need the email address for the current CEO or president

No offense intended, but you are tilting at windmills. CEOs don't answer emails. They typically have administrative staff who are gate-keepers. You send an executive an email and the gate-keeper will just send it back down to a customer service person, etc.

[email protected] I found it via Google and got a call after a few weeks from a woman who was a Special assistant to the President. She was able to resolve my problem that I’d been working on for 6 months (they had listed an incorrect number of days I was in Covid quarantine and the HAL insurance would only reimburse me for the number of days on the official paperwork)

The president of Holland America is Gustavo "Gus" Antorcha. His email address is [email protected].  And in all probability he will not respond personally.  But someone in his executive office should respond.  At least that's worked for me in the past with other large companies.

What is the correct email address to request HAL shareholder obc?

I thought I had read that the e-mail address had changed but I cannot find that information.

If you google carnival shareholder credit, you can download a PDF with email, phone number, and requirements for every Carnival brand.

Hmmm.  I just requested my shareholder credit and the email is bouncing back as undeliverable.  Either they've changed the email address or they're having an email server problem.  I'll try it again tomorrow.

I just sent mine in about 10 minutes ago for a March 2024 cruise.  I have received the auto-response just now and expect the confirmation in minutes to a day or so.

Perhaps the issue is that the incoming mailbox was full so was bouncing as they don't process these over the weekend.  I'd try again soon!

1 hour ago, 0bnxshs said: Perhaps the issue is that the incoming mailbox was full so was bouncing as they don't process these over the weekend.

Actually, I think it was my attached pdf.  I attached my brokerage statement as a pdf and, for some reason, their email server didn't like it.  I read the "undeliverable" code that I'd gotten back from them and found statements about suspected spam.

So, I tried it again today and this time I embedded screen shots of those statement pages into the email instead of attaching that pdf.  It went through just fine and I got the confirmation email.  Beats me.

Mandalay1903

The email address on the form and my pdf attachment worked perfectly late last month. Auto-response arrived promptly and the OBC's were posted timely and accurately. CCL benefit is a good promotional program run by Carnival.

That is rather odd.  I extract the page that lists my CCL holding from the entire PDF document and then redact all the unrelated material on the page and send only this 1 page to them.  I've never had a problem doing this.  I hope yours goes smoothly this time.  🙂

Same here. Last month, it went as smooth as silk. There just must have been something there that triggered theiŕ server's defenses this time.

I'm going with this guess. HAL and weekends often equal frustration!

It took a little longer than it has for the last few cruises we've taken but I got confirmation last night that my SHB will be applied to my March 2024 cruise.  Hope you've also had a positive outcome!

This is the email I had waiting for me this noon:

I can't find the other "CCL/stockholder OBC" thread where I jumped to (correct as it turns out) conclusion that StockPerks was going to be the sole way to request SHB. Some people had gone through the process accepting the BRAID default status which demanded you signin to your brokerage account. That was when I wrote my letter to World Cruise Reservations/HAL!

Someone else later discovered that you do not want that default status but choose ALIVEA option that you won't need to log in, just upload what you would be sending by the old fax method.

Wouldn't it have been nice for "Matt" to have told me that? Instead we depend on CC!

ETA: found the other thread, added the email to it.

I haven't actually done it yet and was repeating the "solution" posted on the other thread. Only it's not BRAID, it's PLAID! (I was thinking BRaid for Broker.)

StockPerks is an app for phone, either Android or iPhone. Only.

So, how are people who don't otherwise have a need for a smart phone, and consequently do not have a smart phone, get their stockholder's on board credit?

I have sent that question to [email protected] Have only received acknowledgement so far. Will post the reply, but I think everyone affected should contact them.

I may ask one of my children to handle this for me IF it's not rescinded. Luckily, I already requested the OBC thru February's cruise. Next cruise requires the board to extend the benefit. So I have time to see how this plays out.

Frustrating to jump through hoops, but since I want the perk, I have chosen to go jump. I appreciate those who jumped first that make my jumping easier - discovering it's app only / no website and no need to provide access to sensitive info being the main things.

So I started the process of creating an account and was immediately hit by my first obstacle - it requires validating email and sends me an email. I used (of course) my personal email which I cannot access on my phone (I can only access work email on my phone); there's no option to receive a text instead. Accessing email requires me to fire up my computer so at least this registration part now results in a game of ping pong as I bounce between phone and computer.

I stopped at that point, decided jumping and ping pong were too much for 1 day and will pick it up again another day since my current bookings all have shareholder OBC.

I hope if you do end up having to use StockPerks to receive the OBC you will be able to access everything from a phone so your children will more easily be able to help you.

Congrats to those who have successfully navigated the process and good luck to the rest of us. 🤔

@RuthC  and others: It seems they are aware and will accommodate those of us without a smartphone - later. In the meantime, I'm glad I requested the OBC for all eligible cruises back in April.

Here's the reply from [email protected]

I have just spoken on the phone with the Chief Customer Officer at Stockperks and have been given the following information to pass along.

2) They are working on a webpage they hope to have operational by the end of the year in which to enter your information to get your shareholder OBC.

Roz

Even though I have a smartphone, and know how to use it 😜 , I would still prefer to use a website.

9 hours ago, Cruise Suzy said: @RuthC  and others: It seems they are aware and will accommodate those of us without a smartphone - later. In the meantime, I'm glad I requested the OBC for all eligible cruises back in April.

Thank you at least for the information. I'm glad I don't have a cruise booked that's coming up soon, as my next one is well into next year.  If they have their website adapted by the end of this year---and if it works better than HAL's does!---then I have time.  Plan B would be to send my stock verification to my TA and have her send it with the request. $250 is a good chunk of change, and we shouldn't have to stress about how to get it!

Holland America wants travelers to live on a cruise ship for 4 ½ months while it sails to 39 countries on all 7 continents — see what it'll be like

  • Holland America Line announced a 2026 around-the-world cruise .
  • The 132-day itinerary includes 47 ports in 39 countries on all seven continents.
  • Longer sailings like this one are all the rage right now.

Insider Today

In 2026, the only flight you'll have to take to visit 39 countries in less than half a year is the one from your home to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The catch? From there, you can travel around the world on a 25-year-old ship.

If the concept sounds familiar, it's probably because you're thinking of Royal Caribbean's nine-month Ultimate World Cruise , one of TikTok's first obsessions in 2024.

Royal Caribbean's around-the-world sailing isn't a one-off. Quite the opposite: It's part of a growing interest in longer cruises.

And companies like Holland America have taken note of this shift. To satisfy travelers' appetite for extended sailings, the cruise line released a slate of itineraries ranging from 25 to 59 days long this time last year. Most are set to sail roundtrip, to, or from North America.

But none of these one to two-month cruises compare to the cruise line's new 2026 "Grand World Voyage," a whopping 4 ½-month journey to all seven continents.

holland america world cruise email address

Holland America says its 1,432-guest Volendam ship will set sail in January 2026 on an "east-to-west route" from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to 47 ports in 39 countries on all seven continents.

From sunny Florida, the ship will sail down to chilly Antarctica by way of eastern South America.

holland america world cruise email address

Volendam is scheduled to spend four days around Antarctica. Good luck on the infamous Drake Passage .

The icy destination isn't common on most around-the-world itineraries. But the cruise line seems partial to it: Holland America's 133-day "pole-to-pole" cruise , sailing to Antarctica and the Arctic Circle, is scheduled for January 2025.

From the itinerary's southernmost destination, the ship is set to venture back north to the South Pacific Islands like Easter Island, New Zealand, and Australia.

holland america world cruise email address

Then, it will set sail to Southeast and South Asia, the Maldives, and Egypt before its final few stops around northern Europe.

With the exception of two ports in Egypt, the Middle East and Africa have been largely left off the 132-day plan.

Almost 4 ½ months and 39 countries later, the journey will conclude back in Fort Lauderdale.

It's a long itinerary for a compact ship: The 781-foot-long Volendam is one of Holland America's smallest and oldest vessels.

Compared to this older counterpart, Holland America's newest ship, the Rotterdam, is almost 200 feet longer and can accommodate 1,236 more guests. However, the cruise line tapped a ship of Volendam's size to give guests a more "intimate experience."

Holland America's vessel of choice is larger than the ones being used by more luxurious companies Regent Seven Seas, Oceania, and Silversea's 2024 world cruises, which all have guest capacities of less than 700 people.

But the Volendam is still significantly smaller than Royal Caribbean's Ultimate World Cruise vessel of choice: The 965-foot-long, 2,476-guest Serenade of the Seas .

And unlike Royal Caribbean's new mega-ships , the Volendam has no waterslides or wild rides. Instead, the 10-deck vessel features six restaurants (including a café), five bars, two pools, and activities like pickleball courts.

Compared to other global itineraries, Holland America’s 47-port world cruise might seem light.

Ultra-luxury Regent Seven Seas and Silversea's ongoing 4 ½-month world cruises each include at least 65 ports.

But busier doesn't always mean better.

Guests will have more time to spend at the scheduled ports by sacrificing additional destinations, Gus Antorcha, Holland America's president, said in a news release. (The ship is scheduled for overnights at nine popular destinations, including Bali, Indonesia, and Papeete, Tahiti.)

A spokesperson for Holland America told Business Insider that details about the itinerary's fares aren't available yet.

Everything You Need to Know About Holland America Cruise $49 Standby List

I f you’re looking for last minute cruise deals, Holland America’s standby list program is worth checking out. This program allows you to book a spot on Holland America cruises for $49 per person per day. Essentially, you’ll be put on a standby list, and if there are any available cabins close to the departure date, you’ll be confirmed to go on the cruise! It’s a great option for spontaneous travelers!

What Is the Holland America’s Standby List Program

Holland America’s standby list program is great for travelers who are flexible with their travel dates and are looking for last-minute cruise deals. The program allows you to add your name to a standby list, and if there is space available on the cruise ship, you will be confirmed to go on the cruise. They will review the standby list 7 to 2 days prior to sailing.

Holland America will notify you about your confirmation no less than two days before departure. Given the short notice, this program is best for people who live near the cruise port. Otherwise, you will be scrambling for last minute airfare!

You can add your name to the standby list by calling your travel agent or calling Holland America directly at 1-877-724-5425.

Holland America’s Standby List Payment Process

If you are interested in being placed on Holland America’s standby list, it’s important to understand the payment process. When you contact Holland America to request a spot on the standby list, you will be required to pay a fee of $49 per person per day for the first two people in your stateroom. It’s important to note that this fee is non-refundable.

When you are added to the standby list, you will be charged the full cruise fare. The only way you can receive a refund of the standby fee is if Holland America does not confirm your booking within two days of the scheduled sailing date.

How Much is the 3rd and 4th guests?

The 3rd and 4th guests are free, but you will have to pay their taxes and port fees.

When Will You Receive a Notification About Your Cruise Confirmation?

You can expect to receive confirmation of your cruise booking two days before your scheduled departure. They will tell you whether you are confirmed to go on the cruise or not. In case you are not confirmed, the cruise company will refund your cruise fare.

However, if you wish to continue waiting in the hope of securing a spot on the cruise, you have the option to remain on standby. This means you will remain on the standby list until 90 minutes before the departure time, and you will be notified if a spot becomes available.

What Cruise Ports?

There are several cruise ports that are included in the standby list of Holland America. If you are looking for a cruise to Alaska, you can choose sailings from Vancouver, Seattle, and Whittier cruise ports. There are also Pacific coast cruises from San Diego. As well as 14 to 42 days transatlantic cruises from Fort Lauderdale. There are also several New England cruises from Boston, Montreal, and Quebec.

What Stateroom Will You Get?

If you are picky about your stateroom, then you might not like this program. You won’t have the option to choose your stateroom. Instead, Holland America will assign you a stateroom category based on availability at the time of booking, which could be any category up to a verandah stateroom.

It’s important to keep in mind that the cruise fare is non-refundable, meaning that once you’ve confirmed your booking, you won’t be able to request a refund if you’re unhappy with the stateroom you’ve been assigned.

What About Solo Travelers?

If you are a solo traveler, you can add yourself to the standby list for $49 per day.

Can You Get a Refund?

Again, once you add your name to the standby list, you will be charged the full cruise fare of $49 per person per day. The only way you can get a refund is if you are not confirmed to go on a cruise. You do have the option to add a cancellation protection plan to your booking.

Who is Holland America’s Standby List Best For?

Holland America’s standby list is a great option for travelers who are looking for a last-minute getaway and have the flexibility to travel at short notice. It’s also best for people who live near the cruise port, so you don’t end up paying exorbitant last-minute airfare fees. Looking for more ways to get last minute cruise deals? View of snowcapped mountains and glaciers in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska.

Glacier Bay National Park

A cruise through  Glacier Bay is a journey through natural and human history, back to the Little Ice Age. Truly a remarkable place, it has acted as a living laboratory for scientists, such as botanist William S. Cooper, who studied how plants react to glacial retreat.

It’s a muse for poets and a beloved wild playground of naturalists, like John Muir. It’s also the ancestral homeland of the Huna Tlingit, who called it  S’e Shuyee  or “edge of the glacial silt.”

Glacier Bay’s Most Popular Glaciers

Johns Hopkins Glacier: Harry Feilding Reid, a glaciologist, seismologist and professor at Johns Hopkins University, named this glacier in 1893.

Margerie Glacier: This was named after French geographer Emmanuel de Margerie, who visited in 1913.

On cruises to Glacier Bay, rangers and Huna Tlingit guides bring the history of this extraordinary place to life with engaging talks.

College Fjord

As you cruise  College Fjord , you’re traveling in the path of the 1899 Harriman Expedition that rounded up the world’s leading naturalists, botanists, photographers and nature writers on a two-month voyage from Seattle to Alaska and Siberia.

View of College Fjord in Alaska, surrounded by green forest and snowcapped mountains.

You’ll notice that many of the glaciers are named after prestigious universities. Glaciers on the left are women’s colleges and the ones on the right are men’s colleges. Some of the more famous glaciers in the College Fjord are Amherst, Barnard, Bryn Mawr, Harvard, Smith, Vassar and Yale.

Fun Fact: It’s rumored that as an ice-cold snub, the scientists didn’t name a glacier after Princeton.

Hubbard Glacier

Even at 400 years old,  Hubbard Glacier  manages to stay active. As many glaciers thin and retreat, Hubbard Glacier is advancing at a rate so fast it’s nicknamed, “the Galloping Glacier.”

Hubbard’s massive ice chunks regularly calve off and thunder into the sea. It also caused the largest glacial lake outburst flood in recent history.

Fun Fact: Hubbard Glacier was named after Gardiner Hubbard, one of the National Geographic Society founders.

Mendenhall Glacier

John Muir originally named this glacier Auke (Auk) for the Tlingit Auk Kwaan. In 1891, it was renamed for Thomas Corwin Mendenhall, an American physicist and meteorologist. Sadly, the Mendenhall Glacier has receded 1.5 miles since 1929.

A stop at the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center is the best way to learn more about its history. You can also view the glacier and enjoy a salmon feast on the  Mendenhall Glacier & Salmon Bake  excursion.

Fun Fact: The Juneau Icefield is more than 3,000 years old.

Are you ready to embark on an unforgettable journey to the Great Land with confidence in our Glacier Guarantee ™? Learn more about Alaska’s glaciers and the thrilling ways you can experience them.

Holland America Introduces ‘Dutch Day’ Culinary Experiences on Every Cruise

  • April 28, 2024

Rotterdam departing Rotterdam

Holland America Line is introducing a new “Dutch Day” culinary experience celebrating the cruise line’s history on every sailing in Alaska, Europe, Asia or the Caribbean, according to a press release.

The focal point of Dutch Day will be a themed Dutch Dinner served once per cruise in the main Dining Room, with many dishes also available in the Lido Market. Additionally, Holland America Line’s Orange Party will be held on Dutch Day, and guests can enjoy fresh-made poffertjes in Crow’s Nest Café.

“Holland America Line remains deeply connected to our roots in the Netherlands, and Dutch Day is the perfect way to honor our history through experiences that celebrate the culinary culture of the country,” said Michael Stendebach, vice president of food, beverage and rooms division for Holland America Line. “Our guests appreciate special touches like Daelmans Stroopwafel for turn down or a dish in the dining room that is distinctly Dutch, and we’re excited to expand the cultural experience for an entire day to showcase more of our heritage.”

The special Dutch Dinner features both classic and contemporary Dutch delicacies. The selection of starters features a Bay Shrimp Cocktail with Dutch cocktail sauce, Erwten Soep (Dutch Pea Soup), and Mushroom Cream puff pastry with hollandaise sauce.

Dutch-inspired main course options include Bami Goreng, a stir-fried noodle dish with chicken sate and peanut sauce; Pan-Fried Dover Sole with lemon butter; and Hodge Podge Klapstuk with chateau potatoes. For dessert, options include a Bosche Bol, Tompouce or a slice of traditional Dutch Apple Pie.

In collaboration with Daelmans Stroopwafels, Dutch Day will also feature Stroopwafel Cheesecake for dessert on the dinner menu in the Dining Room and Lido Market and a Stroopwafel Napoleon at tea time. Additionally, instead of the traditional stateroom turn-down chocolate, guests will find a Daelmans Stroopwafel waiting for them on their pillow.
