Jimmy Carr, one of the best-loved comedians in the world, is returning to New Zealand for a national tour in January 2023. Tickets go on sale Monday 27 June at 9am.

Terribly Funny contains jokes about all kinds of terrible things. Terrible things that might have affected you or people you know and love. But they’re just jokes - they are not the terrible things. Jokes are little lies. Nothing more than wonderful, funny, joyful tricks, constructed from language.

Jimmy will be telling jokes to an adult paying audience who’ve got a good idea what’s in store. And there’s no point to the show, save for to make the audience laugh. Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo. Now you’ve been warned, enjoy the laughs.

Jimmy Carr has been a comedian for over a decade and a half. He’s performed 10 sell-out tours, playing over 2,500 shows to more than 2.5 million people. He’s won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-Up Tour and been nominated for the Perrier Award. His most recent stand-up comedy special was the most streamed on Netflix in the UK in 2021.

His television credits include over 20 series as host of panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats, 18 series of spin off 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and 10 years presenting Channel 4’s Big Fat Quiz Of The Year. He has also hosted three series of Roast Battle on Comedy Central UK and recorded his own Netflix panel show, The Fix, in 2019, with all episodes available to stream now.

Today one of the biggest-selling global comedians Jimmy Carr announced his U.S. stand-up comedy tour Terribly Funny is coming to City National Grove of Anaheim on Friday, December 8 for one night only. 

At the latest count he has toured to over forty different countries. His last tour, Best Of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits, sold over 480,000 tickets globally with current show, Terribly Funny, exceeding that figure by the end of 2022. The tour continues into 2023 with shows in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and now the U.S.

ABOUT JIMMY CARR:

Jimmy is a household name in UK television, well known for hosting Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Big Fat Quiz Of The Year in addition to presenting Comedy Central’s Roast Battle UK and Your Face Or Mine. He is a regular on all the top panel shows, including QI and A League Of Their Own, has performed as part of The Royal Variety Performance three times, is a judge on hit BBC1 entertainment series I Can See Your Voice and the host of brand-new Channel 4 gameshow I Literally Just Told You.

Jimmy is also a high-profile name in North America. He was the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up deal with streaming behemoth Netflix in 2015, releasing three specials on the platform, Funny Business (2016) and Best Of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits (2017) and His Dark Material (2021) which was Netflix’s most watched stand-up comedy special in the UK that year. He also presented and exec-produced an original panel show format for Netflix, The Fix, and has been a guest multiple times on US staples such The Tonight Show, The Late, Late Show and Late Night With Conan O’Brien. Jimmy Carr: Terribly Funny

Today one of the biggest-selling global comedians Jimmy Carr announced new U.S. dates on his stand-up comedy tour Terribly Funny. The 20 city tour will kick off in Austin and stop in cities including Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia and more before wrapping up in San Francisco.

At the latest count he has toured to over forty different countries. His last tour, Best Of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits, sold over 480,000 tickets globally with current show, Terribly Funny, exceeding that figure by the end of 2022. The tour continues into 2023 with shows in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and now the U.S.

Jimmy is a household name in UK television, well known for hosting Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats , 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Big Fat Quiz Of The Year in addition to presenting Comedy Central’s Roast Battle UK and Your Face Or Mine . He is a regular on all the top panel shows, including QI and A League Of Their Own , has performed as part of The Royal Variety Performance three times, is a judge on hit BBC1 entertainment series I Can See Your Voice and the host of brand-new Channel 4 gameshow I Literally Just Told You .

Jimmy is also a high-profile name in North America. He was the first UK comedian to sign a stand-up deal with streaming behemoth Netflix in 2015, releasing three specials on the platform, Funny Business (2016) and Best Of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits (2017) and His Dark Material (2021) which was Netflix’s most watched stand-up comedy special in the UK that year. He also presented and exec-produced an original panel show format for Netflix, The Fix , and has been a guest multiple times on US staples such The Tonight Show , The Late, Late Show and Late Night With Conan O’Brien . He has performed at the Montreal Just For Laughs Comedy Festival since 2003 with more appearances than any other UK act in that time.

Before making the move to streaming, Jimmy was one of the bestselling acts in the comedy DVD market, his eight titles ( Live , Stand-Up , Comedian , In Concert , Telling Jokes , Making People Laugh , Being Funny and Laughing & Joking ) selling over 1.2 million copies between them. These shows are now all available on Jimmy’s YouTube channel, where he has accrued over 758,000 subscribers and 210 million views since launching in 2018.

This is a different show to Jimmy’s Netflix special, Natural Born Killer, which premiers on Netflix on April 16th.

Tickets are available for purchase online, by phone at (401) 421-ARTS (2787), or at the PPAC Box Office located at 220 Weybosset Street in downtown Providence. Box Office Hours are M-F, 10A–5P; Sat 10A-2P. Summer hours are M-Th 10A-3P. The VETS on-site Box Office is only open on show days. Children under the age of six are not permitted to attend performances unless it is designated as a family show. Please call the Box Office at (401) 421-2787 to see which shows are appropriate for younger children. All persons regardless of age are required to have a ticket for family shows. Ticket pricing subject to change without notice.
