21 days Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia Tour

  • Coach / Bus

21 days Thailand, Laos, Vietnam & Cambodia

Thank you for so much help before the tour and the wonderful staff you provided to make our trip something we will always cherish! I would love to give feedback on each of our guides but cannot remember their names (Suggestion: It would be helpful if that information was included on our itinerary or the guides provided a card with their names on it when we met them.) Some of them were outstanding with their English and did a wonderful job directing us through the sites. It would have been helpful on the first day/night to give more detailed instructions as there is so much going on that it is hard to take it all in. Example: We would need to check out of the hotel by 7am and take our luggage with us on the tour. It would also be nice to know what we are to do about breakfast as the first day our tour left at 7am but breakfast was not available until 7am. The staff at Grand Alpine would not accommodate us and told us we needed to speak to our tour guide (who, when I asked, told us that we would have a box waiting - which didn't happen.) The rest of the tour was wonderful and we felt very cared for. It was just that first day that was a bit of a challenge. We will always remember our time in SE Asia and smile:)

Amazing Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam 18 days

Just finished my Amazing 18 day tour of Thailand, Vietnam & Cambodia, and ‘Amazing’ is definitely the right word!!! The whole tour was well planned & well run. Special thanks to Ha Nguyen for being in constant email contact with me, advising me of the coming days activities, pickup times & tour details, which was very much appreciated. Daily group tours were fantastic, the drivers & tour guides were so caring, courteous & always very helpful. Thanks also to a special tour guide- Hen Chenda for looking after me at Angkor Wat! Each country had its highlights - too many to mention, but all a delightful experience. Every accommodation was top class, with beautiful rooms, meals were also top quality. I would highly recommend this tour & company. Thanks for the beautiful memories. Cheryl Craig, Australia

Becca was my tour leader for cambodia, it was such an amazing trip! You could tell Becca really knew her stuff about Cambodia, it's people and culture, she even taught us a few words along the way! daily activities and accommodation was excellent, clean, cultural and fun! all questions and queries were promptly answered along the way, 100% recommended. my only improvement would be is that a lot of the food on the tour was western and I would prefer more local delicacy!

What people love about Indochina Tours

This was my first time ever travelling without family and it was amazing! One of the best months of my life. Our CEO Tong was brilliant and full of knowledge about where we were going and what we would be doing. He made sure to have enough time for anyone and helped in anyway he could to make things run smoothly for everyone on tour including myself. If you go on this tour, make sure you ask for Tong or (Phanet Tep) as your CEO!
Everything worked as planned. Great tour and amazing guides

Indochina Itinerary – Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam Tour

Indochina Itinerary – Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam Tour

The Indochina trail is South East Asia’s most infamous travel route. A popular itinerary crosses 3 countries, namely Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam. It often extends to Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, and Singapore.

This trip is very exciting, especially among travelers embarking on their first multi-country journey in the region. I highly recommend it because you’ll be able to see many awe-inspiring sights including the Grand Palace & temples in Thailand, majestic Angkor temples in Cambodia & energetic urban scene in Vietnam. Of course, all the while enjoying the different cultures and cuisines along the way.

I’ve followed the Indochina trail and have been to these Southeast Asian countries separately many times. Because of its popularity, the trip is very doable even with little planning.

How to spend 7 days in Indochina?  Check out my recommended Indochina itinerary below. The sample itinerary is easy to follow or customize in case you plan to go for 5 days, 2 weeks (14 days) or more. Scroll down to see the detailed do-it-yourself (DIY) itinerary blog, followed by a budget/expenses breakdown and lots of extra travel tips.

Marcos at Jim Thompson House

Bangkok can get quite hot during midday hours. Here are some suggestions on places you can go in Bangkok. Choose one that suits the kind of places you want to see: (1) Jim Thompson House, (2) Bangkok mall or (3) Wat Saket (Golden Mount temple), Giant Swing & Wat Suthat.

Jim Thompson House  — For culture lovers. Houses the impressive art collection of Jim Thompson, an American expat famous for revitalizing the Thai silk industry in the 1950s and 1960s. The site also features traditional Thai-style houses surrounded by cool greeneries.

Bangkok mall  — You’d want to go here not only for shopping & air-conditioning, most shopping malls in the city also have large food courts that serve a variety of affordable Thai food. Top picks include Siam Paragon, Central World & Platinum Mall.

Wat Saket (Golden Mount temple), Giant Swing & Wat Suthat  — If the heat is bearable and you want to maximize your sightseeing in Bangkok, these are excellent places to explore near the Grand Palace and Khao San Road.

0130 pm: Start Grand Palace and Bangkok temples tour

Day 2:  Beyond Bangkok

0830 am: ayutthaya day tour.

The Ayutthaya Historical Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with ancient temple ruins & famous Buddha statues. It’s one of my favorite places to visit near Bangkok!

Travel time between Bangkok and Ayutthaya is around 1h30m to 2 hours. You can choose to go on a (1) DIY trip to Ayutthaya or (2) join a day tour from Bangkok. Both are excellent options. The better choice depends on whether you prefer to explore Ayutthaya on your own or going with a guided experience with hassle-free transport included.

0830 am: Floating Markets day tour

This is the most popular day tour from Bangkok! Visit the floating markets if you want to see a more varied mix of scenery, aside from temples and city sights.

If you are traveling in a group, I recommend that you hire your own transport so that you can maximize your sightseeing. Or, go with a join-in tour with hassle-free transport from Bangkok included.

LEG 2:  CAMBODIA

Day 3:  thailand to cambodia, 0800 am: bangkok to siem reap bus.

The land journey from Bangkok to Siem Reap spans a bit over 400 kilometers. Travel time by bus is around 9 hours. It’ll eat up the better part of your day. To avoid time lost changing buses & potential scams at the book direct transfers that include the border crossing, with a reputable company.

Reputable bus companies include Giant Ibis, which offers pickup in Khao San Road, and Transport Co. (Nattakan), which departs from the Morchit (Mochit) / Northern Thailand Bus Station. You also have the option of booking from your hotel/hostel if you want to enjoy pickup directly from there. Or, book online to avoid fully-booked buses and guarantee a seat in your preferred bus schedule.

The bus fare is around USD 23-31 per person per way. Click below to see current prices, bus schedules & online booking.

It’s important to arrive at the pickup point 30 minutes to 1 hour before departure time. Carefully check the schedule, pick-up and drop-off areas.

Also, always remember that Pinoys enjoy Visa-free travel in Cambodia. Do not believe anyone who says that you have to pay to cross the border.

0500 pm: Siem Reap arrival & hotel check-in

Stay in Siem Reap central area, near Pub Street, at Siem Reap riverside or Charles De Gaulle boulevard.

0600 pm: Siem Reap at night

Siem Reap isn’t just a gateway to Angkor, it has its own exciting attractions too. Scroll down for top things to do in Siem Reap at night.

Siem Reap shows

Apsara Dancers

Enjoy a traditional Khmer Apsara dance, usually packaged with a filling dinner buffet, or one of the many show performances in Siem Reap.

Indulge in a relaxing spa/massage

Day 4:  siem reap + angkor temples, 0500 am: start angkor temples tour.

The long land travel will be all worth it after you get to see Angkor Wat and other temple ruins in the Ancient City of Angkor. With a 1-day tour from Siem Reap, you can already see most of the major temples. Greet the sunrise at Angkor Wat and spend the whole day exploring other must-see sights in the ancient city including Ta Phrom, the “tomb raider” temple, Bayon and sunset on the top of Phnom Bakheng.

On a short visit, I recommend that you follow the standard “Little Circuit” route. It’s the most popular tour that includes the most impressive temples.

Angkor Wat entrance fee

One Day admission ticket  — USD 37 per person.

3-Day admission ticket  — USD 62 per person.

7-Day admission ticket  — USD 72 per person.

Join-in or private tour package  — Join-in tours are best suited for solo travelers who are looking to share the cost of transport/guide. The itinerary typically includes the 3 major temples: Angkor Wat, Bayon & Ta Phrohm. Click below to check join-in and private tour prices, discounts & itinerary schedule.

Private tuk-tuk / car charter  — If you are traveling in a group, you can hire your own tuk-tuk, private car or motodop (motorcycle taxi). Getting a transport charter is recommended if you want to maximize your sightseeing from sunrise to sundown.

Motorbike / bicycle rental  — Cost-effective option if you want to go on your own. Take note, the temples are spread across a large area. Going by push bicycle can be quite tiring and unbearably hot, especially if you are not conditioned to traveling long distances & the heat.

0530 am: Sunrise at Angkor Wat

Angkor Wat sunrise

Angkor Wat is located 7 kilometers away from Siem Reap city center. Travel time is around 20 minutes by car/tuk-tuk. To see the sunrise at Angkor Wat, I suggest that you depart from your hotel at 5 am or earlier.

Travel hack : The sunrise time varies depending on the time of year. Before you go, make sure to check your weather app or search “Siem Reap sunrise time” on Google.

Sunset at Phnom Bakheng (temple)

Only around 300 people are permitted to go up Phnom Bakheng temple at a time. During the peak tourist season, best to arrive earlier at around 4 pm.

0700 pm: Siem Reap at night

1030 pm: siem reap to phnom penh night bus.

The 460-kilometer land journey from Siem Reap to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam takes around 13 hours. Although shuttles are faster, I recommend that you take the more comfortable bus.

Consider checking out of your hotel/hostel before going on your tour of Angkor to avoid being charged an extra night. Most places will let you keep your bag/luggage at the concierge for free, even after checking out.

15 Things to do in Vietnam + Tourist Spots

Your travel expenses will largely depend on your traveling style and how much you plan to spend on activities, accommodations & food. To help you set your own budget, here are budget estimates if you follow the 7 days and 6 nights (7D6N) itinerary posted above. Make sure to review all discounts & online booking prices.

I’ve included backpacker budget estimates for food & accommodations to give you an idea of how cheaply you can do the trip. As you know, actual budgets/expenses may be different depending on many factors including personal traveling styles, time of visit, etc. If you have money to splurge on hotels, food, and extra activities, simply use the expenses posted to calculate your estimated budget.

Can you travel cheaper?  The entrance fee + tour/transport to Angkor Wat alone takes up a huge chunk of the total budget. It’s expensive, yes. You can easily achieve a budget of less than USD 40 per day if you skip the attractions completely… DON’T! because they are really worth the price.

The most popular place to stay for budget travelers is Khao San Road area. It is an easy base to explore  Bangkok  & beyond because of many hostels, travel agencies & transport options that can be found here.

Want better views & comfort? Try the mid-range & luxury hotels on the Chao Phraya Riverside.

If you’re after the exciting shopping scene in  Bangkok , stay near the BTS/MRT train stations preferably in the area of Siam, Silom, Sukhumvit, or Hua Lamphong BTS station. A big advantage of staying nearby is fast access to Suvarnabhumi Airport (via the airport express), and major transport hubs like Morchit (Mochit)-Northern  Thailand  Bus Station & Hua Lamphong Railway Station.

Indochina Travel Tips Before You Go

Do i need a visa, how to cross the border between thailand-cambodia-vietnam, what bus company to go with, where to book bus tickets online, useful travel apps & websites for indochina, how to get mobile internet, how to get money/cash, how to book cheap flights to indochina, should i book my indochina hotel online, pre-book your indochina tours & attraction tickets online.

Filipinos (Philippine passport holders) do not need to apply for a tourist visa before arriving in all three countries featured on this itinerary.

Pinoy travelers can enjoy Visa-free travel in Thailand for stays of 30 days or less. There’s a maximum of 2 visits annually if arriving by land. Don’t worry because you’ll only be crossing once.

For Cambodia and Vietnam, the maximum stay is 21 days.

If anyone tells you that you need to pay anything when crossing the border, insist that Filipinos are not required to apply for a tourist visa and refuse their offer. Walk straight to the official immigration booths at the checkpoint. Before leaving, carefully check the new stamp on your passport & make sure that the validity date indicated is past your last day in the country.

Go with a reputable bus company, which will provide a representative that will guide you through the border crossing process.

Upon reaching the border, in Thailand, for example, you will need to clear the Thailand immigration checkpoint and get the exit stamp on your passport.

Then, get off the bus and walk to the Cambodia side of the border. Do not leave important things on the bus. Also, take a picture of the bus no./plate no. and ask the bus driver/representative if it’s the same bus that will take you to Siem Reap. If yes, it’s okay to leave your big luggage. Just bring your valuables with you.

At the Cambodia side, line up for the immigration checkpoint, get an entry stamp and look for the onward bus to Siem Reap.

Expect the same procedure when crossing between Cambodia and Vietnam.

The process above only applies to “direct” buses.

Giant Ibis is quite reliable. They offer direct bus transfers between Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh & Ho Chi Minh. The bus fare is a couple of dollars more expensive than competitors, but you’re assured of a safe and comfortable ride. This will be especially appreciated during the border crossings where scams are commonplace.

Transport Co. (Nattakan) is also a good option for the Bangkok-Siem Reap route.

Go with Capitol Tours or Mekong Express for bus travel between Cambodia and Ho Chi Minh.

There are also cheaper buses (not as well maintained as the options above) and shuttles (faster but less leg room/comfort). You can book these directly with your hotel/hostel. Upside is that they typically provide free hotel pick-up. Downside is that you won’t be sure of the quality of the bus company.

Pick a booking site below that offers the best rates, schedule & comfort. Buy your tickets ahead to avoid fully-booked seats.

Google Maps  — Remember to download the offline maps before you go to access the map even if you don’t have mobile data.

Use the directions feature if you plan to get around Indochina on your own. I love this feature because I often like to wander around places that I visit & see the sights on foot. The directions on Google Maps is also super useful because it displays train & bus routes in Indochina. It only works online, so you will need internet access.

Maps.me  — Excellent Google Maps alternative that automatically saves offline maps.

Grab  — I use this reliable ride-hailing app frequently as an alternative to taking the taxi. To see the fare estimates, click below to install the app on your phone & manually set the location to in Indochina. Take note of the prices displayed for your pre-trip budget plan.

Google Translate  — Very useful when communicating with locals who do not understand/speak English.

Agoda  &  Booking.com  — My go-to for convenient hotel bookings & cheap rates. For home/apartment rentals, check listings on Airbnb .

Skyscanner  &  Momondo  — These top flight search apps make it super easy to compare airfares from multiple airlines. Download the app & sign-up to the price alerts for updates on cheap flights.

Bring cash in US Dollars (USD) for the whole trip. Or, major currencies like Euros or British Pounds. Don’t exchange a lot at the airport because rates are the city center are usually better.

To avoid bringing large amounts of cash or worry about exchange rates, book your accommodations, tours, & tickets online.

The Philippine Peso has terrible exchange rates in Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia. I suggest that you bring cash in USD (or any major currency). Or simply withdraw local currency from an ATM. Before you go, make your ATM card (with Visa / Mastercard / Cirrus logo) is cleared for international withdrawal.

Here are the local currencies for your reference:

Thailand —  Thai Baht  (THB / ฿)

Cambodia —  US Dollar  is the unofficial second currency. It’s accepted almost everywhere in the country & the exchange rate you will get is quite fair. Officially it’s Cambodia Riel (KHR / ៛) but you don’t need to worry about exchanging money to riel.

Vietnam —  Vietnamese Dong  (VND / ₫)

If you are flying to within the next 2-3 months, the general rule to spend less on flights is by booking sooner rather than later. In case you are booking well ahead of your trip, keep a lookout for airline promo fares & seat sales.

5 Days Indochina Itinerary

Yes, 5 days in Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam is doable. The trip will be rushed & exhausting especially if you’re not used to fast-paced travel. I’ve met many travelers who have done & enjoyed a trip regardless. The five day Indochina itinerary is quite popular among travelers who want to maximize their long weekend vacation leave. You can still use the 1 week itinerary above as a general guide. Simply, take out the full-day excursions beyond Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh. Here’s a summary of the 5 day itinerary covering Bangkok, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh and Vietnam:

2 Weeks Indochina Itinerary

If you have two weeks, one month or more, here are more places you can include in your itinerary:

Vietnam  — Mekong Delta, Phu Quoc, Mui Ne, Dalat, Nha Trang

Cambodia  — Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville

Thailand  — Ayutthaya, Pattaya, Hua Hin, Chiang Mai, Krabi, Phuket, Ko Samui/Ko Tao/Ko Phangan

Hi! Your blog’s very helpful for our itinerary.. can i ask if what did you do with your things while on day tour at Phnom Penh?

September 4, 2017 at 11:22 pm

I’ve posted the suggestions on the “Show more” buttons. For a short tour of Phnom Penh, check out:

Royal Palace & Silver Pagoda Cambodia National Museum Central Market

These three are located along Phnom Penh riverside, near most bus terminals

December 25, 2017 at 9:29 pm

Good day sir, may I ask if is this the same process if my trip start from Vietnam to Cambodia to Thailand?

December 26, 2017 at 1:13 am

Yes, it’s the same.

Just keep this in mind: When you’re crossing by land to Thailand, the Thai immigration has a policy that you must present a minimum of THB 10,000 baht per person or 20,000 per family at the border. This “show money” can be in cash & in any popular currency. If the immigration offer tells you that your cash must be in THB, insist that their website states the money can be in any “equivalent” currency. You can check this page for more info.

Hi! Should I bring USD or would it be better to withdraw from the ATM? I’ll be in Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia for 12 days.

March 12, 2018 at 4:20 pm

I find it easier to withdraw from ATMs when I travel, but I usually bring USD in case of emergency.

hello Marcos, me and my boyfriend is planning for our first ever international tour together. this will be a big help for us to visit this 3countries in our 2nd anniv. I just want to ask if we could have a city tour when we arrive there?

March 29, 2018 at 9:24 am

Cool :) Which city do you mean?

' src=

April 12, 2018 at 10:02 am

If i go by bus, if i happened to run out of usd, can i withraw from my debit card before i show them my money? Do they have atm’s there?

April 12, 2018 at 10:51 am

I’m not sure if there are ATMs at the border (though you’re likely to find one nearby). I recommend that you already have money in hand at the border. If you are on a direct bus/shuttle transfer, you might inconvenience the other passengers if you go looking for ATMs.

April 13, 2018 at 12:47 am

All of the above :)

Is it possible to extend our trip by ending at Malaysia via bus from Vietnam?

April 13, 2018 at 2:35 pm

All of the above :) hihi

is this possible? Thailand-Cambodia-Vietnam-Malaysia?

April 17, 2018 at 5:54 pm

Hi Mary, if you’re going to travel from Vietnam all the way to Malaysia BY LAND, you will need to pass through Cambodia and Thailand (again).

I HIGHLY suggest that you fly from Ho Chi Minh to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Flying will be cheaper and much much much faster. It will probably take you at least two days to go from Ho Chi Minh to Kuala Lumpur by bus.

If you really want to go by land. You should start from Vietnam, pass through Cambodia, then Thailand. Finally, travel south to Malaysia.

Good day. Do you think there will be a problem for transgender people for this tour?

July 15, 2018 at 5:59 pm

I believe it won’t be a problem. In Thailand, for example, local transgender people are popularly called “Lady Boys.” Transgender people are generally accepted/norm in Thai society.

Hi! i booked from PH to Cambodia then return flight is from Cambodia to PH, plano ko sana magpunta din ng Thailand, is that possible? Makakabalik pa ba ko ng Cambodia ?

July 29, 2018 at 1:59 am

Yes, you can travel from Cambodia to Thailand and back to Cambodia. Depends on how long your trip is. If it’s 3 days, I suggest you just stick to Cambodia. 5 days, possible but half of your trip will be spent on the bus rides, which I don’t recommend. 7 days or more is doable. Kindly read the guide for travel time details.

July 26, 2018 at 1:24 pm

Hi. I read your indochina article and was wondering if it’s not scary to travel from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh during night. Also, the bus from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Min, will it automatically stop at the border for the immigration process? And my ate and I are both Philippine passport holders, what should we bring at the Cam – Viet border? Thanks!

July 29, 2018 at 1:54 am

Hey Aira, nothing specifically dangerous traveling that bus route at night. Go with a reputable company like Giant Ibis to be safe. As always, take general precautions when you travel anywhere. If you buy a bus ticket with pickup in PP & drop off in HCMC, yes, the bus will stop at the border. Then, the driver to someone will let you finish clearing the immigration. At the other side, you take the same bus company to HCMC.

I’ve already posted tips on bus companies and where to book. Kindly review the guide above. You can also check these guides: https://www.detourista.com/guide/ho-chi-minh-trip/ https://www.detourista.com/guide/siem-reap-trip/

December 31, 2018 at 7:47 pm

Hello. I would like to ask regarding money when I entered tri-city. Is it a need to bring USD and exchange to local currency everytime Ill be in the different country?

December 31, 2018 at 8:35 pm

Not necessarily USD (any major currency will do), but yes you’ll need money in the local currency… with the exception of Cambodia, since USD is widely accepted there. I usually withdraw local money from an ATM. If you’re not spending a lot in each country, however, and want to avoid bank withdrawal fees, it might be more cost-effective to just bring USD bills (or any major currency) and go to a money changer.

Hi! I was wodering, how did you do the Siem Reap + Angkor temples? I mean, did you negotiate a tuktuk ride downtown at 5:00am then explore temples by foot? And where do you get an entrance fee? I am doing an itinerary for next year trip and I’m confused to whether book at Klook for a tuktuk ride or not because it seems that the tuktuk tour of Klook starts at 8am and does not match yours. I want to follow your itinerary; sunrise at Angkor Wat and sunset at Phnom Bakheng. Your blog is helpful, btw! Thanks!

Hi! how did you acquire sim cards for the 3 countries? I know from thailand i can probably pick up something from the airport when I arrive. And in vietnam I know it can be delivered to our hotel and just pick it up when we check in. But how about in cambodia?

April 27, 2020 at 12:44 am

SIM cards are also available at the airport and city center shops once you arrive in Siem Reap. Just research ahead on how to get to your hotel/hostel. The staff should know a good place to buy nearby.

Tour Highlights

Itinerary details.

This itinerary is just a suggestion for you to plan your vacation. We specialize in designing private customer-oriented tours so just let us know your interests and expectations, and we will be happy to create a tour that satisfies your preferences.

Hello Mandalay! When you arrive at the first stop of this long adventure, you will be greeted by your private tour guide who will be holding a sign with your name on it. Then, you will be transferred to your selected hotel. Your guide will assist you with the check-in process and leave you to freshen up.

Visit the main attractions in Mandalay. Kuthodaw Pagoda is situated at the foot of Mandalay Hill. There are 729 white pagodas there, forming a spectacular group of stupas. In each stupa, there is a slab with Buddhist scriptures engraved on it, which is why it is known as the world's largest book.

Among the ancient towns in Mandalay, Inwa is a must-visit. Because of the destruction caused during World War II, a large number of buildings in the ancient city were severely damaged but these scattered ruins are hidden among lush trees and farmland so people still lament this despite the amount of time that has passed.

Visit the Bagaya Monastery, which is said to be the oldest one in Inwa. The entire temple is made of teak and has remained intact after centuries of wind and rain. Unlike Myanmar's many temples, this temple looks particularly quaint and natural. Remember to walk around every room in the monastery (as some people don't do this) — you will see monks praying and local children studying there.

Later, have a relaxing visit to the ancient town of Amarapura. This calm and elegant town was once the short-term capital of Myanmar.

What makes Amarapura special is the famous 1,200-meter-long U Bein Bridge, which is the longest teak bridge in the world. All the timber used to build the bridge came from the former royal palace and it was built with precious teak. The elegant bridge is still standing after a century of erosion from the wind and rain. Take a short cruise on the lake to see the beautiful sunset over U Bein Bridge.

A visa is needed to enter Mandalay for Western travelers:

1. Either apply for a visa online at the embassy in your country or use the approval letter provided by Global Highlights along with your passport and a passport-size photo — you can apply for the arrival visa at the airports in Yangon, Mandalay, or Nap Pyi Taw. This service is free of charge.

2. You can access Mandalay via Singapore, Bangkok, and Guangzhou.

Hotels in Myanmar

To have a better travel experience, you are advised to choose higher ranking hotels for your trip in Myanmar because most of the old hotels built in the 1990s are not in very good condition and don't even have air-conditioning in the rooms. We have selected newly-built Western chains to ensure your comfort and all of the rooms are equipped with air-conditioning and have a minimum size of 30 meters squared.

After a leisurely breakfast in the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bagan.

Bagan is the essence of culture and religion in Myanmar and is not to be missed. In this 2-day tour, you will explore the most popular Nyuang U Market, get a real insight into the local people's lifestyle, and join in with a cooking class to learn how to make authentic local cuisine from a cooking expert. This cooking class is run by JICA, which is a Japanese non-profit government organization committed to improving environmental health, reducing epidemic diseases, enhancing education and the quality of life, and decreasing poverty in poor and underdeveloped countries.

There are thousands of legendary stupas in Bagan Archaeological Zone. Among these, we recommend you visit the exquisite Ananda Temple and Htilominlo Pahto where you will appreciate the beautiful clay engravings and interesting market nearby. Later on, finish the day's tour at the highest pagoda in Bagan — the Shwesandaw Pagoda. Please watch out for the steep steps when climbing to the top of the pagoda. You will be rewarded with the magnificent view of the ancient city and thousands of stupas during sunset.

Take a 40-minute flight from Bagan to Inle Lake.

Enjoy a 2-day getaway in the Inle Lake area. The scenery there is very beautiful as the mountains are surrounded by water, the water reflects the mountains, and countless birds are flying around. Take the chance to visit the 5-day market, Indein temples, and floating villages. You will also see the paddy fields where people live.

Highlight: Experience the most beautiful harmony between humans and nature in this idyllic land.

  • Visiting the Indein temples by boat is only offered during the rainy season from May to February.
  • Each raft can only accommodate four people including the rafters. We will provide a life jacket for you for safety.
  • The rafts are open-air so you are advised to take sunglasses and sunscreen to protect you from getting sunburnt.
  • Giving a tip of 1 USD per person to your rafter would be appreciated.

Your Myanmar tour will finish in its capital, Yangon.

This 2-day Yangon tour covers all the must-sees — explore Bogyoke Aung San Market, the National Museum of Myanmar, and the colonial district.

Take a slow circular train ride around the city to enjoy the scenery of Yangon's countryside and various open-air bazaars.

Visit the Shwedagon Pagoda during sunset when the soft sunlight covers the whole scenic area.

Highlight: Circular Train Ride

The circular railway is a very important mode of public transportation for the locals. The train has no air-conditioning but with its open windows and doors you won't feel too hot. Take this authentic train experience early in the morning when it's cooler. Taking this slow, shaking train ride from the busy and brightly lit urban area to the dilapidated houses and sparsely populated suburbs, it seems as though you have gone back in time.

You can also interact with the local people from a close proximity. During the ride, you will be able to get off the train to hang around the market, try some snacks, or relax in a café if you wish.

Fly to Ho Chi Minh City to discover Vietnam as part of your Indochina adventure!

This 2-day tour in Ho Chi Minh City will take you to Ben Tre, a beautiful town located in the Mekong Delta. This small town is perfect for experiencing the quiet riverside life and enjoying the charming pastoral scenery.

Return to Ho Chi Minh City and take a relaxing walk in the downtown area. Visit some of the key spots on a traditional cyclo.

Highlight: Take a canoe ride that's steered by a Vietnamese boatman through dense grove-lined canal tributaries in the Mekong Delta.

Fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang to start your cultural experience in the beautiful coastal city of Hoi An.

Have a leisurely walking tour in Hoi An Ancient Town. The value of Hoi An's heritage lies in the many well-preserved ancient buildings and streets, which reflect the organic combination of Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese cultures and architectural styles. They have not been damaged by war nor have they been demolished for the construction of high-rise buildings. Visit the Japanese Covered Bridge, Fujian Assembly Hall, the Old House of Tan Ky, and Tran Family Chapel — these are must-see heritage sites in Hoi An Ancient Town.

Highlight: Learn how to make a lantern in a workshop. The workshop is run by the Lifestart Foundation Workshop, a non-profit organization that inspires locals to create items and to improve their lives.

Take a 50-minute flight to arrive in the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi.

Your personal tour guide will take you to visit the must-see attractions: the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison, and to hang around the famous Old Quarter. Take this chance to learn about the history, culture, and the development of this amazing country.

Highlight: Navigate the Old Quarter to integrate into the vivid lifestyle of the locals with your local guide.

You will be picked up by the cruise staff and transferred to the port for your cruise in the scenic Halong Bay. It is good to enjoy this laid-back cruise to feel refreshed.

Halong Bay is about 160 kilometers away from Hanoi and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are hundreds of thousands of islands with karst hills making various fantastic shapes in the sea, which are very picturesque. You will have the chance to stop at some fishing villages and landmark islets, such as Fighting Cock Islet and Human Head Islet. The activities on the boat and stops will depend on the different cruise boats.

Highlight: Enjoy spending a beautiful night on the cruise boat in a quiet port.

Notes for the Halong Bay Cruise

  • The distance between Hanoi and Halong Bay is about 170 kilometers, taking 3–4 hours by car. There are no stops for sightseeing during the journey so have a good rest during this time.
  • Please advise us in advance if you are traveling with a baby and we will arrange for a crib to be placed in your room.
  • Meals are included on the cruise but drinks are excluded. If you want to buy some drinks or snacks before boarding the cruise boat, please let your tour guide know in advance so that he/she can find some shops for you to do so.

After you have disembarked from the cruise, you will be transferred to the airport for a short flight to Luang Prabang — the famous ancient capital and Buddhist center of Laos.

In Luang Prabang, there are many historical temples and stupas. Most of the locals are devout Buddhists, which may be why they are so kind and gentle.

Walk around the charming old town and immerse yourself into the cultural heritage. Visit the Royal Palace Museum, Wat Xieng Thong, and relax at the beautiful Kuang Si Falls. You will also have the chance to participate in a ritual Buddhist activity — to offer alms to the monks early in the morning.

Highlight: Have a unique Buddhist experience by joining the ritual of almsgiving with the local people.

Take these 2 days to have an in-depth exploration of Angkor Wat by yourself.

The important sites are Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, the Bayon, Ta Prohm, Banteay Srei, the Cambodian Landmine Museum, Beng Mealea, and Preah Khan.

Highlight: Immerse yourself in the ancient civilization and religion by visiting these grand heritages.

  • The scenic area of Angkor Wat is very large and there are many historical sites, among which the Small Circle Tour and Big Circle Tour must be taken. Each circle tour takes a day to complete. Therefore, if you want to fully experience the excitement of Angkor Wat, you need to go through each lap and it will take at least 2 days to do this. We will get you 3-day tickets so if you feel tired and want to go back to your hotel to have a break, you can continue the visit later in the day or the next day.
  • The Small Circle Tour mainly concentrates on the temples and attractions in Angkor Wat. The distance between the opposite points and those closest to you is relatively close. The attractions can be reached on foot in a relatively short amount of time. If you visit the attractions fairly quickly, you can complete the tour in half a day, so the layout is commonly called a small circle.
  • The Big Circle Tour (or Grand Circuit Tour) is a route that connects the nearby attractions and temples around Siem Reap. Compared with the smaller circle, this one is relatively large. You can do the tour via tuk tuk, car, or other means of transportation, such as by bicycle. Generally speaking, half a day is not enough.

After discovering the mysteries of Cambodia, you can now be excited to visit Bangkok — the capital of Thailand.

There is so much to see and experience in vibrant Bangkok! Your guide will take you to visit the Grand Palace, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Bangkok National Museum, and the Jim Thompson House. You are also advised to explore the local markets, spas, and parties in your free time.

Highlight: A lovely dinner will be included on a cruise along the Chao Phraya River. This is a great way to enjoy the city when it is lit up at night.

Use these free days to enjoy the colorful activities, delicious Thai food, and beautiful beaches in Phuket Island.

In the morning, you will be transferred to the airport for the flight back to Bangkok for your departure flight home. Farewell! We hope you have had a wonderful time with us!

Visiting a Village School with the Tuk-Tuk Library

kc indochina tour

Luang Prabang, Laos

The literacy rate of Laos falls short of most of its Southeast Asian neighbours at just over 70% and is often even lower in rural areas where children must walk long distances to reach the nearest school. Other factors that add to the problem include poor-quality classrooms, limited teacher training and a dearth of appropriate reading materials.

To help combat the issue, the Luang Prabang Public Library, in tandem with Cooperative Learning International, aims to bring books into the hands of children through its Lao Children’s Library Boats and Tuk-Tuk Library. Join the mobile library for an inspiring morning of visiting a village school with books, games and learning activities. See how hygiene is promoted through songs, stories and drama and help distribute a health bag containing soap, a toothbrush and other personal items or a learning bag with exercise books and pencils to the children.

Combination of historical and cultural experience. Although we were not able to go inside Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum since it's closed during Friday, still had a good time. Loved the Lacquer paintings.

It was one of the best experiences we had in Hanoi. The teacher, was very friendly and spoke English well. She picked us at our hotel and took us to the beautiful riverside house where we learned to cook. She had extensive list of dishes we can choose from and then went to local market by bicycle to buy the ingredients in Vietnamese. Then she taught us how to cook the dishes we chose, explaining steps and reasons. Finally we ate the dishes we cooked overlooking the Red River; amazing scenery! This is a must for tourists to experience!!!!

Christine

Got the chance to explorw the beauty and wonders of Bana Hills. I got the chance to be on a majestic Golden Hands Bridge. It’s indeed a dream come true for me. I went to the Le Jardin D’amore, different pagodas, the old winery, was museum, the French village and a lot more. The cable car experience leaves me breathless! The buffet for our lunch is awesomazing. The tour guide is so friendly and has a good facility of the English language.

Angelo

Wonderful experience with these tour and the tour guide was kind and funny girl. I like her service and joke all the way during this tour. All the cruise staff also helpful and kind. Food was amazing and especially enjoyed the Vietnamese dish full board in the cruise.

“Amazing trip! Lam was very knowledgeable and helpful. It is a great price value, everything was great. I personally recommend the 2 day cruises with President cruise. All accommodations were way beyond my expectations, always double rooms with a nice view from the window. Even though the first few days were rainy I really enjoyed every activity of the trip. It was just a bit challenging for me as an introvert and not so social person to join the group later on! But overall, I was so satisfied with their services and can’t wait to book again for my next trip in Vietnam”

“This was the best way to travel and see a variety of beautiful places around the center of Vietnam. Very well planned, timed, organized and executed by the company. Me & my family had an amazing week in Danang, Hue & Hoi An. We tried all the tasty local dishes instructed by our trusty guide – Hoang. Would recommend doing it again!”

Your boat glides smoothly across the glassy surface, the shapes and shadows of the islets changing as you navigate this watery paradise. This is Lan Ha Bay, the smaller, quieter and altogether more serene neighbour of Halong Bay.

Although belonging to a different province, Lan Ha is essentially an extension of Halong Bay and offers the same mesmerising scenery. Lying south-east of Cat Ba Island, fewer boats make their way to Lan Ha meaning you'll get to enjoy this idyllic setting without the busy crowds.

As you weave your way through the islands, you'll come across secluded bays, white sandy beaches and floating villages. There are caves to explore, islands to cycle on, and the pristine waters are perfect for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking.

Your luxury junk boat will be your home away from home as you explore Lan Ha Bay, and there are few experiences as magical as watching the sunrise from the comfort of your cabin, then watching it sink behind the sparkling water as the day draws to a close.

Be amazed by the sheer size of the temple and learn how the Khmer Empire prospered between the 9th and 13th centuries, around the time when Angkor Wat was built. Stroll through the intricately carved hallways that show hundreds of fine carvings and discover small shrines still in use today by the local people.

Explore Siem Reap's rural landscape beyond its temples, which has changed little since the days of Jayavarman VII. After a short drive from Siem Reap, visit a colourful contemporary pagoda to understand more of the importance of Buddhism in these rural communities and seek a blessing from the monks. Buy seasonal fruits straight from the tree, speak to families who have been baking sticky rice in bamboo for over 30 years and gain hands-on experience of the essential rural skills of the rice harvest, thatching, fishing, or even making a simple meal over an open fire.

Then, take an ox-cart ride through typical villages followed by an easy 20-minute walk to bring you to the vast Western Baray. An impressive engineering feat, this man-made reservoir was once integral to the complex Angkorian rice irrigation system which you will voyage by boat (depending on water level). This will be both an education and an adventure from a slower, more romantic era of travel. Then reach the villa, surrounded by rice paddies, across a stream to the north of a village where tourists are rarely seen and the greetings for visitors are warm and generous. This is a wonderful spot to relax in the quiet of the countryside and enjoy sunset drinks. While the chef prepares your dinner, wander across the levees of the rice paddies, look for fish traps, or walk a short distance to a viewpoint over the ancient reservoir, whilst listening to the elegance of traditional Khmer music played by local musicians, before enjoying your evening meal.

Together with its great location in a peaceful corner on a confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers, set beside the Wat Xiengthong Temple, in the heart of Luang Prabang’s historic centre, the boutique hotel Victoria Xiengthong Palace is both ideally located and a stylish base to explore this city.

Converted from one of the last residences of the Royalty of Laos, the 26 rooms and suites are steeped with history and grandeur without compromising on modern comforts. Most of them have balconies or terraces too.

‘Kitchen by the Mekong’ offers a fusion of carefully crafted Laotian and European cuisine, and meals can be taken in the gardens with atmospheric views overlooking the nearby Wat and the Mekong. Sink into the relaxing spirit of the locale with a whole menu of treatments at the hotel’s Ayu Spa.

The main residence and five white colonial pavilions house twenty luxury pioneer suites and four explorer suites. Gracefully furnished with polished wood floors, four poster beds and open terraces make the Luang Say Residence a relaxing and homely choice for your time in Luang Prabang.

The library and lounge exhibit a selection of antique literature and original artefacts offering insight into Laotian and European history. From the lounge enjoy a stroll through a grapevine covered pergola to the tranquil pool and tropical gardens.

The dining room and airy veranda of La Belle Epoque overlook the gardens where white bougainvillea, hibiscus and lantanas mingle with soaring palms. Much of the menu features produce from Luang Say Residence’s own organic garden.

The hotel is a 10-minute drive away from downtown Luang Prabang.

With pool, garden or mountain views, La Residence Phou Vao’s 34 spacious, zen-style suites are elegantly but simply furnished with polished rosewood and fresh linens. All suites offer a double bedroom, separate living area and a very high and attentive level of service throughout.

The freshwater infinity swimming pool drops dramatically over a cliff edge overlooking the valley below with gold pagodas and shrines scattered across the hillside and views across to Luang Prabang (the hotel is 2 kilometres from the city centre).

Set in lush gardens guests will enjoy the fragrance of flourishing bougainvillea, papyrus and frangipani trees. Meals can be taken al fresco in the gardens lit by the glow of lanterns and candles in the evening, or dine inside in sophisticated comfort on a blend of inventive Lao and French cuisine.

A charming city, spend your time relaxing and soaking up the culture. Visit temples, trek through virgin rainforest to beautiful waterfalls and give alms to the monks. We can arrange a special and unique time in Luang Prabang.

Wake up before dawn to witness and participate in offering alms to hundreds of saffron-robed monks. This early morning ritual dates back generations in Laos and is an awe-inspiring sight. The monks walk through the streets of Luang Prabang accepting offerings of food from local residents and businesses. Rising early also gives the chance to wander through the fresh market on the way back to the hotel for breakfast.

Explore the UNESCO -protected city centre to appreciate its unspoiled Laotian-colonial fusion architecture, taking in notable Buddhist temples. Visit the Royal Palace Museum, Wat Xiengthong, with its traditional roofs sweeping low to the ground, the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun, Wat Sene, the city’s oldest temple, and the shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai.

Weaving, Luang Prabang, Laos

Drive out to the beautiful waterfalls of Tat Khouangsi. Below the 90m drop of the main cascade are a series of pools, connected by smaller falls and cascades. At low water levels, the water is an unbelievable turquoise, and swimming in the lower pools is a great way to cool off. On the walk through the forest to the falls, you will also pass the Free the Bears project – home to a group of rescued Asiatic Black (Moon) Bears and one Malayan Sun Bear. They are often searching for food hidden in their enriched environment enclosures, or simply sleeping. The route home offers the chance to stop at the villages of Ban Ou, Ban Ouay and Ban Thapene, home to some of the different Lao ethnic groups.

We design private journeys for people who wish to go beyond the typical and experiencing something truly special. Our amazing team of travel designers, concierges and local guides work together to create unique journeys that get deep under the skin of where you’re visiting.

How Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Relationship Has Changed After Spending Tour Break Together

preview for Taylor Swift’s Iconic Career Evolution

As Taylor Swift gets ready for the next leg of her international Eras Tour, she is also preparing to part ways with boyfriend Travis Kelce again. The pair have been dating since 2023, and have had to manage very different and distant obligations. Luckily, a source says that “all the time they’ve spent together recently” in between tour dates has “deepened their bond.”

The source added that the couple took “a trip up the California coast” after Swift’s new album release of The Tortured Poets Department to “celebrate privately,” saying, “They’re making the most of the time they have together.”

The pair were not entirely alone—they were seen in Carmel-by-the-Sea with friends Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, as well as Kelce’s mom, Donna.

Another source previously said that during this break from work, the pair were “focused on rest and recuperation and relaxing at home and having low-key and chill time together.”

“They are enjoying movie nights in her home theater, catching up on films and shows they’ve missed,” they continued, explaining that the couple is working on “scheduling” the upcoming long distance and their various projects so that they can “see each other as much as possible” because they “don’t want to spend too much time apart.”

Kelce is spending the NFL offseason in Los Angeles after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win in February, taking time to see Swift in both Singapore and Australia when she was performing. He is currently filming a new game show called Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity.
