North Wales Guided Tours

Take a luxury private tour with north wales guided tours and discover why the world’s travel writers consistently vote wales as one of the top 10 countries in the world to visit., why north wales.

North Wales is an ancient and unspoilt land where history meets legend, mountains flow into the sea, mediaeval architecture meets industrial revolution, world-class outdoor pursuits meet 1st class travel and an ancient language and unique Celtic culture meet 5 start Hotels and a flourishing foodie scene.

Being less internationally renowned than its better-known neighbours, North Wales is less trodden by tourism and still unspoilt enough to feel real. With a hugely diverse range of attractions, entertainment and activities, its endlessly fascinating and praised by the Rough Guide as ‘the most beguiling part of the British isles’ and ‘’one of the finest natural playgrounds in Europe’’.

Wales may be a small country, but it’s packed with things to see and do – and all the main attractions of North Wales are within a relatively small area making it ideal for day trips from a central base. There are a number of fabulous hotels and restaurants in the area which we can advise on.

North Wales also has excellent travel links with the rest of the UK. Manchester Airport,  the UK’s largest international airport outside of London, is less than an hour’s drive from the North Wales border. Ferries from Anglesey’s Holyhead Port link directly to Dublin in Ireland and trains from Chester and Crewe, just across the border, link directly into the UK mainline rail network. The English Lake District, Scotland, The Cotswolds and London are all less than a half-day drive away.

No wonder the Rough Guide voted Wales as one of the top 10 countries in the World to visit.

Wonderful tour company! Me and my fiancée booked 3 day tours with them and it was one of the most amazing experiences.

Chris was super knowledgeable about everything in Wales from history, mythology, politics, fun facts and the Welsh language. He had no problem answering any questions we had. We went to all the sites on my list, rural Castles, Neolithic and historic sites on tiny roads that I wouldn’t feel comfortable driving on. Chris was a wonderful guide; he would give us plenty of time to explore the sites and then leave us some time to eat and explore areas by ourselves. Traveling through Wales was much more memorable with Chris’s commentary. Can not recommend this company enough. He also took amazing photos of us.

If you’re coming to Wales and want to see all the gems it has to offer, I highly recommend this company. Very professional and wonderful service.

Chris went above and beyond to ensure that we had the very best experience possible during our 5-day stay in Wales. He managed to put together an itinerary for each day from our very long list of places we wanted to visit. He gave us so much background history and cultural information from a Welsh perspective that we felt immersed and no longer visitors to this beautiful place. We found the ancestral homesteads we were looking for. The current owner, by sheer chance, had information on our family history that he was willing to share. It was more than I could have dreamed to learn! Life changing! I have to come back and I will hire Chris again.

We had an incredible day with Chris as our guide. He emailed that morning to let us know he was on the way to the port to pick us up and was waiting when we go off the ship. Chris is incredibly knowledgeable about Wales and its history. We had ample time to explore Caernarfon Castle, then had a stunning drive through Snowdonia National Park, and lunch and explore in Conwy. This was our favourite day on our British Isles cruise. I highly recommend Chris and North Wales Guided Tours and would not hesitate to use them again. Thank you for a memorable day!

Chris and North Wales Guided Tours are EXCELLENT!!! Four of us took a trip to North Wales in September 2023, and took 4 separate full day tours with Chris in his beautiful van. We found him with a search on the internet and feel really fortunate that we did. Chris is a native to north Wales and has decades of experience in the area and a vast knowledge of sights, history (paleo to modern) activities and adventure sports (walking, hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing). We had some ideas about sights we wanted to see and things to do and Chris was able to help us put together a custom itinerary and guide us to what we wanted and got us to places that you won’t find in the books or online guides. He also knows the weather in Wales, which can strongly affect activities and itineraries. Chris is also incredibly polite, professional, adventurous and fun. And he was also really, really patient and attentive with us and our needs, even after four days! I cannot recommend him more highly. One more note, if you are thinking about renting a car to get to some of these places in north Wales, just know it’s not for the faint of heart – often involving VERY narrow one lane roads with no shoulder, opposing truck and farm traffic requiring backing up, heavy rain, poor internet, satellite and NAV connections and wrong NAV guidance. I have driven on numerous trips in Europe, but this area is tricky. So do yourself a favor and look out the window on this trip and enjoy the scenery and Chris’s company!

We came up to North Wales in late September having had to cancel our trip to Kenya due to the epidemic. Chris met us of the train from London and we spent 2 wonderful days touring the fabulous scenery and sites of the area. We spent time exploring castles and deserted beaches that could have been in the Caribbean. We’ll definitely be back!

Recently we needed to travel from Bath to Conwy in North Wales in one day. Rather than have a plain transfer, along the motorways through the industrial English Midlands, we had a wonderful full day tour with Chris from North Wales Guided Tours. He took us along the scenic route, colloquially known as Route 66. It was fantastic and we couldn’t have been happier with the trip. Chris took us through stunning countryside – lush green valleys, rugged mountain areas, seaside and quaint small villages. We stopped several times for refreshments and photo opportunities. Chris himself was very pleasant to be with and gave us plenty of interesting history about various aspects of Wales. His late model Mercedes van was nice and clean and very comfortable.

We thoroughly recommend Chris from North Wales Guided Tours, and this scenic tour in particular.

Chris was an excellent tour guide and put together a most enjoyable day out for us on our 2 days round Snowdonia. His commentary was most informative and entertaining, and nothing was too much trouble. We had a great tour!

Dear Chris. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice of North Wales Guided Tours for our pickup from the Cotswolds, 3 days in North Wales and transfer up to the lake District. The highlight of our whole trip to the UK was the visit to Ashton Hall, the house that my ancestor had lived in before moving to America in the 1700s. Considering you managed to locate the Hall and organise a personal visit from the tiniest scrap of information I’d mentioned in passing – you definitely went above and beyond and I can’t thank you enough.

We spent a wonderful winter weekend touring North Wales last January with North Wales Guided Tours. My wife, 2 children and I travelled by train from London and Chris was waiting for us at Chester Train station for the journey into Wales and our luxury 5 Star Hotel. We then spent 2 days great days getting to know North Wales with Chris. Such a beautiful place – even in winter. As soon as we got back home to London, the guidebooks were out planning for our next visit in the summer.

During our travels around Europe over the last few years, we’ve been fortunate enough to stay in top end Hotels and get guide recommendations from the Concierges. The guides invariably mirror you: worldly, passionate and steeped in regional history. We so much enjoyed our time with you, including our compressed history lesson on Wales. Now I can go home and read more about your wonderful country.

Tour Itinerary

Leave the hustle and bustle of Liverpool behind and explore North Wales for the day. With a drive through stunning landscapes and picturesque villages, you’ll see the beauty of North Wales in all its splendour.

We’ll stop in the historic town of Conwy, here you’ll see the magnificent 13 th century Castle that stands tall above the town. You’ll have time to explore and take in the sights and attractions that make the coastal town such a popular visitor destination.

After a roam around the town, we’ll head off to explore the incredible Snowdonia National Park, stopping at different points they’ll be plenty of opportunities for photo stops and for you to really enjoy this beautiful national park.

Heading to the National Slate Museum we’ll discover the fascinating history and heritage of the country; the Victorian workshop was built at the base of the Snowdonia Mountain also known as Eryi. Afterwards we’ll head to the Llanberis Lake Railway, where you can sit and relax and enjoy the views along Lake Pardarn in the heart of Snowdonia. (Please note the train ride is only included during March-November).

We then head to the charming Welsh village of Betws-y-Coed situated in the heart of the National Park. The village, which was once a place for pilgrims, became a hub for artist and authors who took inspiration form the scenery and landscapes that surround it. It’s a wonderful stop on the tour and a great place for some free time to explore.

We’ll then be heading back towards Liverpool and back to reality after a day of discovering this incredible part of the world.

  • KarynV_75 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles The most amazing trip ever with Boutique Tours! John was an amazing tour guide and human being! My mother and I traveled to Liverpool from London, and John was able to manage picking us up from our hotel which we were very thankful for. We learned the day prior that our Snowden railway train tour had been canceled due to high winds, but John was on the ball with a different train tour which was lovely! We saw all the beautiful sites that Northern Wales had to offer and were very appreciative of John to have told us about it and shown us around whilst telling us marvelous tales! He stopped at multiple sites that others don't always get to see. We were shown sites to take wonderful pictures and so happy with how they all turned out! The can was also incredibly comfortable and spacious. He also provided water which was an absolute savior. Book a tour or tours with John and Boutique Tours. It'll be the best decision you make in Wales!!!! Read more Written April 7, 2024

John was able to secure wonderful restaurants and access to fascinating historical sites. It is obvious that John is passionate about the Welsh history and culture. We are now huge fans as well. It is unlikely we would have explored under ground coal mines, Red Kite sitings and the seaside vistas on backroads without this specialized tour. I highly recommend this tour. Grab the time while you can. Read more Written November 10, 2023
  • lynaer946 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wild Wales This was our third trip to Wales and second tour with John. We had such a wonderful time enjoying the scenery through rural imagery on backroads to crashing waves on the ragged cliffs off Anglesey Island. He is great with his information on historic sites and really adapts to our interests as the day progresses. I just can't imagine knowing Wales without John's knowledge, experiences and care. We truly love Wales more every visit we make. Diolch John! Read more Written October 25, 2023

  • soniamistry 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wonderful day in Northern Wales! My sister booked a private day tour for our family (5 adults) as part of a cruise stop in Holyhead, including a visit to Portmeirion and Snowdonia. We found John, our tour guide, very easily and he whisked us away on a delightful day-long adventure, showing us and telling us the sorts of things that you only get from a local. Indeed, everywhere we went, he was recognized and greeted by local workers and other tour guides! We definitely felt like we were getting a much more enriching experience than we would on a big bus tour, seeing things we wouldn't be able to see, driving down roads a bus couldn't. And I'm sure wrangling a small party of people is much easier than a bus-load so we had extra time to make impromptu visits and unplanned stops. We returned to Holyhead with plenty of time left before our ship was scheduled to depart. Would absolutely recommend booking a tour through Boutique Tours. Read more Written September 23, 2023

This was the highlight of our 16 day trip in the British Isles and Wales is as breathtakingly beautiful as you see in all the pictures on the Boutique Tours website. John is so knowledgeable about the area and about the Caernarfon Castle, which has an amazing history. The van is custom made and very comfortable for six passengers. Because it is a van and not a huge tour bus, John was able to take us places that very few people would ever get to see. If you have the opportunity to take this tour, don't hesitate. It is well worth every penny and we thought was an excellent value compared to Viking Cruise Lines excursions offered to us. Read more Written September 19, 2023

John, our tour guide, was so knowledgeable on the history of Wales, current happenings, and threw in a lot of his personal experiences of the country. Especially accommodating every step of the way. When we saw a boat tour and told him how nice that would be, he made it all happen while we were at lunch! When one of our party was sick and stayed in his room one day, John very willingly drove extra to circle back and pick him up so he could join his family for dinner. This was such an amazing tour, we would gladly return again to have Boutique Tours of Wales show us around more of Wales. Read more Written September 15, 2023

He uses his local knowledge to bring you to the best views of the exquisite natural scenery of Wales, going down narrow roads and up twisting road climbs. On top of that he knows the best places for lunch, where the food and the views are superb. Thank you, John, for two memorable days of touring Wales. Read more Written September 8, 2023

You will not be disappointed. John is an excellent tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Wales and so really enriched our tour of Caernarfon castle. During all our tour he had information to give us that enhanced what we were seeing and taught us so much about Wales and life there. The places we visited were not those you would see on a bus tour but ones that gave you a much more intimate vision of what Wales is really like, We were so lucky to have John as a our guide to introduce us to the beauty of Wales and the Welch people. One of the city’s biggest draws is Cardiff Castle, a mixture of Roman, Norman and Victorian architecture strewn around the central green. It offers a fantastic insight into the history of Cardiff as for centuries it was the home of the Butes, the family who transformed Cardiff from a small town into the biggest coal port in the world.

Walk down to the Cardiff Bay

Enjoy a walk along the old Cardiff docklands, now known as Cardiff Bay, a vibrant waterfront filled with restaurants, boutiques and boats. You can go sailing on the large freshwater lake, enjoy a night of opera at the Wales Millennium Centre, and indulge in exceptional dining along Mermaid Quay.

Learn about Celtic culture

A trip to Wales offers the chance to dive into Celtic culture with our Local Specialists. They’ll show you the way of the Celts through food, music and humor, with traditional Welsh dinners and an evening of Welsh music performed by magical harpists and the finest local singers.

Hike in the Welsh mountain region of Snowdonia

Hiking in Wales is one of the best ways to get immersed in the country’s mountains, and Snowdonia National Park offers a grand introduction. Sprawling across northern Wales to the rugged coastline, you can find the highest peak in Wales, along with an excellent network of trails to guide your exploration.

Stroll through the Cardiff Central Market

Discover a range of local Welsh cuisine, vintage clothing and seasonal produce at Cardiff Central Market, a historic Victorian building that has been the site of a farmer’s market since the 18th century. You never know what treasures you’ll find as you wander the stores under the market’s glass roof.

Our top 5 things to do in Wales

When you’re not trekking through the mountains and exploring the most beautiful places in Wales, retreat to the city where you’ll find historic castles, old-fashioned markets and a compelling culture. Here are just a few of the ways we'll unlock the magic of Wales for you on your trip.

National Museum

Set in Cardiff’s civic center, the National Museum is home to a variety of national collections and touring exhibitions of geology and natural history. It also houses one of Europe’s best art collections, with paintings, drawings, sculptures and ceramics from Wales and the world, and one of the finest collections of Impressionist art.

St Fagans National Museum of History

Located on the grounds of St Fagans Castle in Cardiff, St Fagans National Museum of History is one of the world’s best open-air museums. Along with St Fagans Castle, a 16th-century manor house, you’ll find a collection of more than 50 original buildings from different historical periods that have been rebuilt on the 100-acre parkland.

Swansea Museum

Built in 1841, Swansea Museum is the oldest museum in Wales. It’s home to a fantastic collection of historical objects from the pasts of Swansea and the world. You’ll find six galleries with everything from a Welsh Kitchen to the tomb of an Egyptian mummy.

Best museums in Wales

Wales is home to some of Europe’s best historical and cultural collections and our Wales tours take it all in, from an open-air museum in a 16th-century castle, to an Egyptian mummy’s tomb.

Welsh rarebit

A traditional Welsh dish hailing from the 18th century, Welsh rarebit is a delicious take on the classic toasted cheese sandwich. It’s made from creamy sauce of Welsh cheese, ale or milk, and mustard or spices, poured hot over slices of toasted bread.

Glamorgan sausage

Named after the county of Glamorgan in Wales, Glamorgan sausage is a Welsh vegetarian sausage. Traditionally made with Caerphilly cheese, leek and coated in breadcrumbs, the sausages are fried until crispy. The dish became popular in the Second World War when meat was scarce, and is now a national specialty.

Also known as ‘speckled bread’, Bara Brith is a rich fruit cake, originally made as a yeasted bread. Spread with salted butter or drizzled with warm honey, this traditional Welsh dish is a tea-time favorite.

Best food in Wales

From cheesy toast and spiced fruit cake, to vegetarian sausages and hearty meats, we'll show you how Welsh cuisine turns simple ingredients into memorable meals.

What to pack for Wales

People packing for a tour

Waterproof coat

A waterproof coat is an essential item in Wales - there are showers all year round and Cardiff is one of the wettest cities in Europe.

Hiking boots

The mountains of Wales are best explored on foot, and you’ll need a comfortable pair of hiking boots to explore the trails. Make sure you break in your boots before your trip to Wales.

From the historic buildings like Cardiff Castle to the giant mountains of Snowdonia, you’ll want to capture every exquisite moment.

An adaptor plug

Voltage in Wales is 230V and the sockets are of Type G, with standard British 3-pin plugs.

Sunglasses are great to have all year round, to protect from the sunny days in summer and the low angle of the sun in winter.

Pack for sustainable travel

Consider your environmental impact when you next take a trip and go single-use-plastic-free by packing a reusable water bottle, a steel straw, your own shopping bags and refillable toiletry bottles.

What people love about wales tours.

Neil was an excellent tour director/driver. His local knowledge as we passed thru villages was very helpful in understanding how Wales 'works'. I liked the late start in the mornings-9a.m., and the fact that we stayed for 2 nights in 2 locations. I would have liked the opportunity to walk in Snowdoniia
Excellent tour - great guide , driver and nice group of people on the tour.

Snowdonia, North Wales & Chester 3 day tour

Snowdonia

Let the Welsh wonders take your breath away on this tour through national parks, castles, and coastal towns.

Tour Highlights

Conwy Castle - Set near an impressive pair of bridges, this brilliantly preserved 13th-century fortress is a visual treat.

Llanberis Slate Mine* - This museum stands as testament to the people who worked in the mines of Elidir mountain.

Llandudno - Stroll along the longest pier in Wales and soak up the atmosphere of the seaside resort that oozes Victorian charm.

Snowdonia National Park - Discover the jagged peaks of Wales’ premier national park.

Portmeirion - The Italian Riviera meets North Wales in this spectacular village, home of the cult TV series The Prisoner.

Harlech Castle - UNESCO described this castle as one of "the finest examples of late 13th-century military architecture in Europe".

Chester - This ancient border city is a fascinating collection of Roman, Medieval, Tudor and modern city planning.

Your journey

There’s an old Welsh saying; “the best shortage is a shortage of words”.

And we can understand why.

Because when you travel through Snowdonia, the beautiful mountains leave you speechless. The Welsh castles’ battle-torn passageways are simply indescribable. And a lot of the destinations are as unpronounceable as they’re unbelievable.

So, on this trip, we let you discover the elusive beauty of Wales .

You venture through the inexpressibly beautiful valleys of a famous national park; discover a town designed like an Italian village; and learn about Chester, an English town first settled by the Romans.

Let the sights speak for themselves and join our tour of North Wales and Chester.

Tour Details

Students, seniors over 60, and children between 5 and 15 (unfortunately, we don't carry children under 5 years old).

  • Pack your waterproof clothing and walking shoes
  • Some attraction tickets can be purchased in advance when you book your tour. You’ll have the option to add at check-out. Other attractions will not be available to book beforehand, instead you can purchase those while on tour.
  • Transportation by a 16 seat Mercedes mini-coach
  • Air conditioning as standard
  • The stories and services of an English-speaking driver-guide
  • Tour accommodation
  • Attraction entry tickets
  • Savour the seaside life in the castle-crested town of Conwy
  • Discover the rugged natural beauty of the Isle of Anglesey

You leave Manchester and head straight for the border of Wales.

Your first stop of the day is Conwy. This little town deserves to win awards for most picture-perfect harbour town. There’s a castle perched by the sea, the ‘world’s smallest house’, and lots of little restaurants boasting the best fish and chips.

After you’ve soaked up the sea air, you cross the world’s first modern day suspension bridge across the Menai Straits and onto Anglesey Island. Prior to its construction, cattle farmers would have to persuade their herd to swim across the Menai Straits on their way to market. We head for the most westerly point of North Wales to marvel at the South Stack Lighthouse, sea cliffs, and nature reserve.

But that’s not all. You stop in the lovely seaside town of Beaumaris, and also visit the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll for a quick photo stop.

Then you travel back over the bridge and along the coastline to Llandudno, your overnight stop.

  • Capture the medieval spirit of Harlech Castle
  • Wind through mountains and mines in the Snowdonia National Park
  • Feel like you’re in the Mediterranean in one of Britain’s most idiosyncratic towns, Portmeirion

This morning when you head off, your first stop is to Betws-y-Coed. This beautiful little village is known as the gateway to Snowdonia National Park.

Next, sit back and watch Snowdonia’s mountains fly by as you continue onto Harlech Castle. This is one of our favourite castles in the whole of the UK. It boasts epic sea views and an amazingly war-torn history that involves a lot of dynamite.

You then venture to one of the most charming and unique villages in Wales, Portmeirion. This town is the brainchild of Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis. He wanted to demonstrate how a naturally beautiful location could be developed without spoiling it. The result is a stunning piece of the Mediterranean transported into North Wales. You have free time here to explore and grab a bite to eat.

You head back to Llandudno for the evening.

  • Discover fascinating history at the Llanberis Slate Museum*
  • Wander through the fine, historic alleyways of Chester

After breakfast, your first stop is to the Llanberis Slate Museum*. The history of the second largest slate mine on the planet will stay in your memory for a long time.

For your lunch stop today, we head to Llangollen. Situated along the River Dee, this little town will steal your heart.

Next you’re off to one of England’s most historic towns, Chester. There’s a lot to do here, but we’d advise you just head to the Cathedral, you could spend a whole week in this fine building and not get bored.

You arrive back in Manchester in the early evening.

How can I book accommodation?

Accommodation is not included in the price of your tour. To book accommodation, there are two options: either Rabbie’s Tours can book it for you, or you can book your own. For information on how to do this, please see the ‘Accommodation’ tab on FAQ page HERE .

Alternatively, please email us your questions at [email protected] or call us on +44(0)131 226 3133.

Information you can find on the FAQ page, under the ‘Accommodation’ tab : types of accommodation, room types, the booking process, getting to and from your accommodation, and cancellation terms.

How much will the accommodation cost?

We book accommodation with third-party providers on your behalf and each property sets their own rates. Rates vary considerably depending on the accommodation standard, facilities, location, and local demand. We therefore can’t tell you exactly how much your accommodation will cost until your request has been allocated to a specific property.

As a guide, you can expect to pay the following prices,  per person per night :

NOTE: Prices quoted are for guidance only and may be higher on some occasions, especially for last-minute bookings and when demand is high (E.g. peak season, weekends, holidays, special events etc)

Breakfast will be included unless otherwise noted. The type of breakfast provided will vary from place to place so you may receive either a full cooked breakfast, a continental style breakfast (E.g., toast, fruit, cereal), or a packed breakfast bag or tray (E.g., porridge pot, fruit, granola bar).

Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?

The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.

Is there parking close to the departure point?

We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.

When should I get to the departure point?

Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.

What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?

If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.

What are your cancellation policies?

For tours of 10 or more days: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 21 or more days before the tour departure

For all European packaged tours: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 42 days before the tour departure.

If you cancel inside these notice periods, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.

To cancel your booking, email [email protected] as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.

Can Itineraries change?

Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.

Can I pre-book a specific seat?

Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.

Are there toilets on the bus?

Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.

How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?

We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.

Do you take children on your tours?

We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.

You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.

How much time do I get off the bus?

We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.

Why do you exclude visitor attractions?

We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.

Do we need to bring our own lunch?

You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.

Should I tip the driver-guide?

Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.

What about travel insurance?

We advise you take out travel insurance.

What is ABTOT?

You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.

Springboks to face every home nation in 2024 with November Tests officially confirmed

Springboks players sing the national anthem.

The Springboks will officially face every home nation in 2024 after Tests against Scotland, England and Wales in November were confirmed on Monday.

Rassie Erasmus’ men begin their northern tour on November 10 against Scotland in an intriguing battle at Murrayfield before travelling to Twickenham the following weekend for a clash against recent Rugby World Cup rivals England. The proceedings close out against Wales on November 23 in what is their last Test of the year.

“Fantastic” experience

The Springboks will have already faced Wales by then with a Qatar Cup match scheduled against Warren Gatland’s side on June 22 at Twickenham due to a Taylor Swift concert in Cardiff.

The game falls outside of the Test window meaning Erasmus will not have any overseas players available, while there is also an overlap with the United Rugby Championship final which could influence availability.

“As a team, we want to measure ourselves against the top sides in the world consistently, and facing Scotland, Wales, and England on the year-end tour, two of which we faced in the World Cup, will be fantastic for the team and the players,” Erasmus said.

“Wales may have had a disappointing Six Nations campaign, while Scotland won two of their five matches and England three, but they are always a force to be reckoned with at home, so we know we have to be at the top of our game when we line up against them.”

Quiz: Can you name every Springboks coach in the professional era?

Massive mid-year

Following the Wales clash, the back-to-back world champions welcome Six Nations holders Ireland to South Africa for a highly anticipated two-Test series that will firmly answer the question of which team is the world’s best. A historic first Test against Portugal completes the mid-year window.

Sandwiched between the mid-year Tests and November tour is the Rugby Championship including a lengthy trip to Australia and two All Blacks matches in South Africa. Erasmus is raring to go in what will be an exciting season for the world number one side.

“We have a challenging season ahead, which features home Test series against Ireland in the Castle Lager Incoming Series and New Zealand in the Castle Lager Rugby Championship, as well a Test against Portugal, two matches against Australia and Argentina, respectively,” he said.

“To face Scotland, England and Wales at the end of the year will certainly spice things up for the team, so we are really looking forward to the season.”
