Qual a diferença entre trip e travel? Quem gosta de viajar já deve ter se deparado com essas duas palavras em língua inglesa.

Mas, afinal, será que as duas têm o mesmo significado? Em qual contexto usar cada uma?

Esta é uma dúvida comum quando falamos em vocabulário de viagem. A UNB explica que “a maior importância de aprender vocabulário é adquirir maior fluência na escrita e na fala”.

Por que trip e travel são parecidos?

Como sabemos o inglês é uma língua muito rica quando falamos de vocabulário, há diversas opções de palavras que cabem em contextos diferentes .

O que significa trip em inglês?

Embora seu singificado inicial seja de viagem, segundo o dicionário Macmillian , trip pode ter outros significados como:

• Uma jornada.
• Um tropeço.
• Uma experiência com drogas.
• Uma forte emoção.

Vamos aos exemplos!

• We had a long trip till we got here – Tivemos uma longa viagem até chegarmos aqui.
• Acid is a strong substance, I wish you have a good trip . – O ácido é uma substância forte, espero que você tenha uma boa viagem.
• My photographs are my way of feeling that happy trip again. – Minhas fotografias são meu jeito de sentir aquela felicidade de novo.

Ah! É importante lembrar que Trip pode ser usado como um verbo , mas neste caso seu sentido não é de viajar. Veja:

I always trip on the last stair – Eu sempre tropeço no último degrau.

Como usar travel em inglês?

Já travel pode ser usado de maneira mais abragente. Isso por que dá para usar travel tanto como verbo quanto como substantivo. Veja:

• Travalling is my passion. – Viajar é minha paixão.

The words travel , journey , trip and voyage can easily be confused by learners of English.

I suppose it’s a good time of year to look at these words, as the spring and summer holiday seasons will soon be starting for many people.

Travel (noun)

The noun travel is a general word, meaning to move from place to place, usually over long distances.

We can say: air travel , food and travel , space travel , business travel , a travel agency .

• Air travel is getting more expensive.
• The magazine is a food and travel guide.

We can also say travels , which is a plural noun:

• Where did you go on your travels?
• Jack Kerouac wrote many books about his travels.

Travel is also a verb:

• I travel 20 km to work every day.

Journey (noun) 

A journey means moving from one place to another, especially in a vehicle. It is a single piece of travel. A journey can also be a regular thing.

Here is an example. Let’s say we go from London to Leeds then back again. That is two journeys (London to Leeds is the first journey, Leeds to London is the second journey).

We can say: a bus journey , a train journey , the journey to school , my journey to work .

Be careful with the plural: journeys NOT journies .

• How long does your journey to work take?
• Did you have a good journey?
• Did you have a good travel?

Trip (noun)

A trip describes the whole process of going somewhere and coming back. (It is more than one journey.)

Once again, let’s go from London to Leeds then back again. As I said above, that is  two journeys, but it is one trip.

Some examples: a day trip , a round trip , a round-the-world trip, a boat trip and a business trip . We say go on a trip .

• We went on a three-week trip to Scotland.
• He’s gone on a business trip to Germany.
• Let’s go on a trip to the mountains this summer!
• The trip there took three hours. The journey there took three hours.

Voyage (noun)

Voyages are less common nowadays. A voyage is a very long trip, usually at sea or in space:

• At the age of twenty-three, Sir Francis Drake made his first voyage to the New World.
• A voyage around the world often took four or five years.

The French Bon voyage! translates into English as Have a good trip! or Have a good journey!

A tour is when we visit several different places on a long trip and is usually for pleasure. A tour can also be an official visit to inspect a place, e.g. They gave the Prime Minister a tour of the new factory.

Excuse me, I put the question in Spanish without realising where you could be located. I put it again in English,excuse me.

I learnt that the correct sentence would be: ‘TRAVELLING is much faster and cheaper..’ but in the site here the answer that appear as correct is ‘TRAVEL is much faster and cheaper..’

Could you please be so kind to confirm me if it is a mistake of the system or if I was wrong and in fact in this case is more correct to say travel than travelling?

Blanca, It’s also possible to say Travelling is much faster and cheaper . The reason travelling was not given as an option in the multiple choice quiz is that we are looking at the differences between the nouns journey, trip and travel here. I see that this may be a bit confusing, so I have changed the last question in the exercise to air travel .

This time I shall learn the differences between travel, journey, trip and voyage. On my future trip, I’ll take three flights because I’ll go to three different cities. In the middle, I got confused to say if I scheduled my journey to Recife or if I scheduled my travel to Recife on 28. I know I could only say I scheduled my flight from Fortaleza do Recife. But considering journey and travel which is right? Thanks a lot.

Trip Over | O que significa este phrasal verb?

Trip over é um phrasal verb que pode ter três sentidos; todos relacionados ao verbo “tropeçar”. A palavra trip sozinha já significa “tropeçar”, como verbo, e “viagem”, “passeio”, como substantivo. Over é uma preposição que pode equivaler a “sobre”, “por cima de”. Fica claro, então, por que trip over resulta no sentido de “tropeçar sobre (algo)”.

1 – Vejamos primeiro trip over como “tropeçar em” um objeto físico, literalmente. Seguem os exemplos:

Someone will trip over that cable. Alguém vai tropeçar naquele cabo.

I’m not always tripping over the wires. Eu não estou sempre tropeçando nos cabos.

I tripped over something and I fell. Eu tropecei em algo e caí.

Peggy has tripped over one of her cats! Peggy tropeçou em um dos gatos dela!

They are tired of tripping over the PlayStation. Eles estão cansados de tropeçar no PlayStation.

Other people may trip over them and be injured. Outras pessoas podem tropeçar neles e se machucarem.

Noções básicas de "Trip"(proteções) , intertravamentos, permissões e sequências

Este post fornece informações sobre os conceitos básicos de Desarme, Intertravamento, Condições e Sequências que são usados regularmente em sistemas de controle de instrumentação como ESD, DCS, PLC, etc.

Proteção (TRIP)

A definição de um ponto de "Trip" na lógica estabelece uma condição na lógica de forma a proteger o sistema evitando danos humanos ou mecânicos. Por exemplo Como a alta corrente, o motor é acionado para evitar danos. Esses códigos agem sem nenhuma verificação de permissivos, pois geralmente são um tipo de coisa de último recurso.

O termo desarme refere-se a uma ação iniciada pelo sistema de controle e que força um dispositivo ou dispositivos a um estado predeterminado.

Exemplo de sinais de disparo : válvula de fechamento, válvula aberta, motor de parada, etc.

O sistema de instrumentos de segurança (SIS) ou um sistema com fio normalmente iniciam disparos, no entanto, os PLCs ou DCS também podem iniciar disparos, desde que a independência necessária e as classificações SIL sejam atendidas.

Depois que um ou mais dispositivos são forçados a um estado predeterminado pela ação de um "trip", eles permanecerão nesse estado até que o evento seja redefinida manualmente por uma ação consciente do operador.

Por exemplo:

O nível alto de um vaso inicia um sistema de que interrompe a alimentação da bomba; a bomba permanecerá parada mesmo que o nível na embarcação caia para um nível seguro.

O Desarme deve ser "redefinido" pelo operador antes que a bomba possa ser reiniciada.

O trip só pode ser "redefinido" se o nível no tanque tiver caído para um nível seguro.

A redefinição do disparo não fará com que a bomba reinicie automaticamente, no entanto, pode ser reiniciada por uma ação do operador ou um comando do sistema de controle, por exemplo parte de uma sequência.

A redefinição de Trips é um procedimento controlado que só será possível se o operador estiver logado e tiver os direitos de acesso necessários.

Em circunstâncias normais, não será possível 'substituir' ou 'eliminar' Trip.

Bloqueios são códigos ou condições que são executados quando outra ação acontece e alteram o funcionamento da unidade ou código para fornecer um processo de execução tranquilo.

Um intertravamento é, em essência, de um trip de "redefinição automática". Os intertravamentos não são considerados sistemas relacionados à segurança e podem ser usados para o controle liga / desliga.

Os intertravamentos são normalmente iniciados pelo DCS ou PLCs; no entanto, se um intertravamento for considerado relacionado à segurança, ele poderá, dependendo da classificação SIL, ser implementado no SIS ou em um sistema com fio.

Um intertravamento forçará um dispositivo ou dispositivos a um estado predeterminado, por exemplo Feche a válvula, pare o motor, etc.

Depois que um ou mais dispositivos são forçados a um estado predeterminado pela ação de um intertravamento, eles permanecerão nesse estado até que a causa inicial retorne a uma condição 'íntegra', o intertravamento será automaticamente removido.

Um vaso agitado atinge um nível predeterminado. O operador inicia uma sequência que executa as seguintes ações:

Pare a bomba de alimentação

Feche a válvula de enchimento

Pare o agitador.

Aguarde 30 segundos.

Abra a válvula de descarga.

A seguir, é apresentado um exemplo de uma sequência "cíclica":

Quando um vaso atingir nível baixo abre a válvula de enchimento.

A válvula permanece aberta até que seja detectado um nível alto.

Em nível alto, a válvula fecha.

A válvula permanece fechada até que seja detectado um nível baixo.

No nível baixo, a válvula se abre e a sequência é repetida.

Funções combinadas:

É comum que Trip, Interlock, Condicionais e Seqüência cumpram funções combinadas, por exemplo, o seguinte sistema de proteção de bomba ilustra como o mesmo sistema pode executar várias funções.

Evite o acionamento da bomba até a válvula de sucção estar aberta.

Bomba em funcionamento - a válvula de sucção fecha a bomba.

Alto nível nas paradas da bomba

O operador redefine a viagem.

Por exemplo, se houver 2 motores (digamos, motor A e motor B) e apenas um for geralmente usado, mas necessário 24 x 7. Então adicionarei um intertravamento na lógica do motor A que, se o outro motor B desligar devido a erro, inicie a unidade A.

T-Minus 3 Months: Check Your Passport

Notify Local Police of Your Absence

• home alarm company

If your flight is cancelled or significantly delayed, speed-dial your airline customer service while everyone else crowds around the airport help desk. Not going to arrive at your destination until late at night? Let your hotel know so they will hold your room. Yes, you can look up these numbers on the fly, but you'll be happier if you have them ready.

Avoid Publicizing Your Trip on Social Media

As tempting as it may be to tell your Facebook friends that you're heading away, consider this: Every time a friend likes or comments on your status, all of his friends can now view your post. Do want your friend's work colleagues and gym pals to know your plans? Does your teen's entire school need to know? No, they do not.
