No more lonely nights.
Paul McCartney will bring his acclaimed Got Back Tour to Australia this October!

McCartney was last in Australia in December 2017 (which saw him win a Helpmann Award for Best International Contemporary Concert in 2018 beating the likes of Ed Sheeran), wowing audiences nationwide with a near three-hour show, the Sydney Morning Herald reporting, “If the greatest songs elicit an emotional response too powerful to properly explain, it’s safe to say no review of Paul McCartney’s tour will quite do it justice.”

Hints and tips for improving your chances of getting Paul McCartney tickets
Make sure you have a my ticketmaster account.
Get the basics covered before tickets go on sale by logging in and checking your Ticketmaster account ahead of time. If you don’t have a Ticketmaster Account then make sure you sign up in advance – Ticketmaster.com.au .
Sign into your My Ticketmaster account ahead of time
Remember to triple check your passwords, account information, and billing information are all filled in correctly in advance, that way you’re not facing any last-minute account updates when trying to process your order.
Keep your options open with ‘Best Available’
Save time by searching “Best Available,” which scans all sections fast – it’s quicker than searching sections one at a time.
Keep an eye on the clock
There will be a time limit applied to all transactions as you are progressed through the ticket purchasing stages. Remember to keep an eye on the timer on your screen and move through the processing pages as quickly as possible (this is even easier when you’ve completed the account set-up stage we mentioned above).
Don’t refresh your screen
Stick to one window while you’re in the Waiting Room and when you’re being pushed through the Smart Queue and always resist the urge to refresh.
Hitting the refresh button means you’ll lose your place in the queue and, as frustrating as it can get, patience is the only way to win this game. Ticketmaster is equipped with sophisticated systems that are designed to manage and process ticket purchases as quickly as possible. The queuing system that appears on your screen will place you at the front of the line as soon as possible.
Remember: there are a lot of fans
We’re expecting this to be a very popular event. When a popular event goes on sale there are hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of customers all attempting to purchase tickets at the same time. Tickets are sold as long as seats are available, and when an act is this popular, sometimes they go very quickly.
Be sure to follow the above tips to ensure you have the best chance of snapping up some tickets.

Australian leg for the “Got Back” tour announced
Jul 31, 2023
Spread the love! If you like what you are seeing, share it on social networks and let others know about The Paul McCartney Project.
On this day, Paul McCartney and his band were in Melbourne to perform the second show of their seven-concert Australian leg of the “Got Back” tour .
Three days later, Paul brought that astonishing show to the appropriately named Marvel Stadium in Melbourne. The previous show in Adelaide seemed like a small warm-up gig in comparison to the supersized crowd in Melbourne, as 56,000 people gathered to see Paul, who was primed and ready to rock all over again. With the final notes of the night still ringing in our ears, the Melbourne Herald were quick to call it “bloody amazing”. Stuart Bell – Paul’s UK publicist – From Paul McCartney | News | For Whom The Bell Tells: ‘GOT BACK’ Australia Tour 2023 , December 20, 2023
Hey Paul, you’ve still got it! McCartney ‘drinks in’ Melbourne, wows audience. His Saturday night Melbourne concert was full of Beatles hits, and bloody amazing. From The Herald Sun, October 2023 – Quoted on Paul McCartney | News | For Whom The Bell Tells: ‘GOT BACK’ Australia Tour 2023 , December 20, 2023
From Noise11.com , October 22, 2023:
The Beatles played six concerts in Melbourne on that one and only Australian tour of 1964, two shows each on the 15, 16 and 17th of June. The next time Paul was in Melbourne was for two Wings concerts on 13 and 14 November, 1975. There were two MCG concerts on 9 and 10 March, 1993, and two AAMI Park shows on 6 and 7 December, 2017. 21 October, 2023 at Marvel Stadium was special. It was the 13th and most likely the last time Sir Paul McCartney will ever perform in Melbourne, Australia. With all that is going on currently in this zany world of ours it is wonderful that some of us can experience a true legend of our lifetime in the flesh. The songs of Paul McCartney are not only the soundtrack to our lives, they are the soundtrack to generations and they will be enjoyed for centuries to come. At a Paul McCartney concert, we are the privileged few who get to be in the presence of greatness for that moment of our lives. And that should not be taken for granted. For his second date in on the seven-night Australian tour Sir Paul has upsized to the 53,000 capacity Marvel Stadium after the tour kicked-off in Adelaide with a more intimate 8,000 capacity arena. The setlist spans from the very infancy of The Beatles with The Quarrymen’s In Spite of All The Danger’ (1958) through to the more recent ‘Egypt Station’, released 10 months after the 2017 Australian tour. What you have in-between is pure history. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); When Paul performed with The Beatles in Melbourne in 1964 he was 22 years-old and the shows were 11 songs in 35 minutes. In 2023, at 80 years of age, Paul is performing nearly 40 songs over nearly three hours. Curating a McCartney setlist must be a precession skill. He talks about putting in the ones the audience wants to hear but even on this tour that means classics like ‘Here There and Everywhere’, ‘Yesterday’, ‘Back In The USSR’, ‘Eleanor Rigby’, ‘The Long and Winding Road’, ‘Fool On The Hill’, ‘Magical Mystery Tour’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ ‘We Can Work It Out’ and ‘All My Loving’ don’t even fit. There is an entire other show in the songs he doesn’t do. There are 24 Beatles songs in this show alone. That in itself is more than twice as many as The Beatles performed in Melbourne in 1964. It is great that Paul isn’t all about nostalgia. If you haven’t followed his 21st Century output, you should go back and investigate. The five 21st century songs ‘Dance Tonight’ (2007), ‘My Valentine’ (2012), ‘New’ (2013) and ‘Come On To Me’ and ‘Fuh You’ (2018) keep it relevant for Paul still consistently releases new music. “When we play a Beatles song, the room lights up with your phones but when we play new songs its like a black hole. We don’t care. We are going to play them anyway”, he said. He was in fine form tonight, very chatty with the crowd, much chattier than on the 2017 Australian tour. His voice was also better too. In 2017 his voice took about four of five songs to settle. This time the vocal cords were there right from the start. “Good evening Melbourne. Let me start by saying it is great to be back in Australia and we’ll have a bit of fun tonight,” he promised right up and he did not disappoint. There were “old songs, new songs and some inbetween songs,” he said. There were also lots of stories, like how he met Hendrix in the 60s and Jimi learned performed ‘Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band’ at a London show just days after The Beatles released the album. There was the story about how Jimi’s guitar was out of tune and he tried to get Eric Clapton to come up and tune it. That was all to do with a bit of Jimi’s ‘Foxey Lady’ extending out his Wings classic ‘Let Me Roll It’. Jimi’s wasn’t the only dedication. George was honored with a ukulele rendition of ‘Something’, John with the ‘Tug of War’ dedication ‘Here Today’ as well as the incredible presentation of ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ performed as a virtual duet with John with thanks to new editing technology developed by Peter Jackson, who made the recent ‘Get Back’ documentary. George Martin was also remembered for comforting the young Beatles on their first visit to Abbey Road studios. George had a sense of humour, Paul said, and encouraged The Beatles to also be themselves in the studio. The pyrotechnics for ‘Live and Let Die’ were as powerful as the song and the lighting for ‘Helter Skelter’ was a show in itself. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); Apart from the two Egypt Station songs, ‘Let ‘Em In’, ‘She’s A Woman’, ‘You Never Give Me Your Money’ and ‘She Came In Through the Bathroom Window’ have never been performed by Paul before this 2023 Australian tour.
From The Sydney Morning Herald, October 22, 2023:
[…] The one major misstep of the night is the use of video footage of Johnny Depp, taken from the music video for 2012’s My Valentine . It caused controversy in 2022 at Glastonbury – McCartney’s last live performance before this Australian tour. The feeling at this show, at least for this critic, is the same – a curiosity about what message this ongoing support sends when the performance would have worked just as well without the clip. With a songbook this strong, it’s hard to find much else to fault. The varied set spans McCartney’s entire career, and omissions are unavoidable with such a huge back catalogue. It’s a potent reminder of just how strange and wonderful The Beatles were – from Let It Be and Hey Jude to Helter Skelter and Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da , these songs are timeless, and singing them with a stadium of strangers is cathartic and magical.
Hi, about 2000 [sic – 200?] people attended the Melbourne soundcheck, we stood behind the barrier at the back of sections A & B (not right up against the stage). The entire band, including the horn section were there, while Paul sees it as a special ritual for the fans, it also serves the purpose of getting the balance of all the instruments, light, video & sound right. Paul started off playing his Les Paul guitar for the first instrumental jam to ease into it before continuing on guitar for Honey Don’t and Honey Hush. He switched to his Hofner bass for One After 909, introducing it as one of the first songs he wrote with John. The horn section was at the fore for Coming Up, slipping in the Dragnet theme as the main riff on one verse, the song accompanied by some awesome video visuals original stage from the Music video, complete with all the characters he & Linda portrayed. Then Paul switched to piano at the back of the stage for Women & Wives, Miss Ann, C’Moon (again the horn section getting a workout) and the instrumental Celebration, at one point forgetting how the middle section went. Paul headed back to the main stage. He stopped to ask how everyone was and look at some of the signs people had brought, then be strapped on his acoustic guitar for renditions of From Me To You and It’s So Easy. It was then on to the ukelele for solo rendition of Ram On/Big Barn Bed (just like the original record). Paul switched back to acoustic guitar (this time his old Epiphone Texan with the Detroit Red Wings sticker, the one he recorded Yesterday on) for a band version of Midnight Special before summoning his magic piano with the psychedelic paint scheme, only now it’s modernised and projected from a tv screen built into the piano side facing the audience so it can project the same visuals on the main screens. First up was New, complete with harpsichord tone, before finishing with Lady Madonna, an opportunity for the lighting and video crews to check their side was working properly. Paul checked that everyone was happy they’d tested everything, and told us we’d seem him again shortly, he turned to talk with the stage crew while we all shuffled off for a vegan dinner & opportunity to buy some merch without the long queues before the main show started. Paul McCartney is returning to Australia for his first tour since 1994, here’s everything we know about the concert of the year. By Hayley Peppin
PAUL MCCARTNEY is performing down under for the first time in 30 years, in a nationwide arena spectacular. Following weeks of speculation, Matt Gudinski’s Frontier Touring confirmed this morning the 81-year-old will ignite Beatlemania with his Got Back tour across six shows in Australia — including an “intimate” performance in Adelaide. The City of Churches will kick off his Down Under tour, where the Beatles made history in 1964 with around 350,000 fans lining the streets between Adelaide’s airport and town hall just to see McCartney and his band-mates, John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
Much like Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour earlier this year, the former Beatles bassist is also performing at two concerts in cities he’s never played before. Here’s what we know about McCartney’s likely final Australian tour — and how to nab tickets to the concert of the year.

Live Review: Paul McCartney @ Marvel Stadium, Melbourne
Paul McCartney put on one of the most memorable gigs we have seen in ages.
Paul McCartney (Credit: MPL Communications)
If Beatlemania ails you, then we hope the perfect panacea for your condition is Sir Paul McCartney ’s Australian tour, which kicked off this week. At 81, McCartney defied age and simply blew the crowd at Marvel Stadium away with an epic three hours of tunes that showcase an illustrious career that is the stuff of legend. Sir Paul’s expansive songbook meant that not everyone would be satisfied with tonight’s setlist. In the absence of silly love songs and lonely nights, McCartney favoured songs that allowed his band to indulge in fairly hard rock workouts.
A seemingly heavier, more insistent version of Can’t Buy Me Love kicked off the night. It’s an instantly feel-good start to the night, which comes tinged with a certain nostalgia. It’s hard to believe that the Beatles released their first album just on sixty years ago; it’s one of many moments during this concert where it just felt surreal to hear these much-loved songs played live by their creator.
Like, did we really just sing along with Sir Paul to the Na Na Na NaNaNaNas on Hey Jude ? McCartney at the piano for Let It Be and Lady Madonna brought to mind high school piano lessons when we took a break from classical music with the sheet music of these songs – never mind those memories of your grandparents playing the jaunty Obla Di Obla Da when you were a toddler.
A truly rollicking version of the song that had the entire stadium singing along assured us that Desmond and Molly Jones are doing just fine. Sometimes coming off sounding a bit rough, the years have done their work on McCartney’s vocal cords, but the honest delivery of these songs shows the crowd that his heart and soul are deeply invested in his music.
Early in the evening, Juniors Farm and Letting Go showcased the awesome raw power of McCartney’s band and introduced us to his awesome horn section, which he referred to as The Horny Boys. Amusingly, McCartney did a kind of quirky ‘happy’ dance at the end of many songs. Despite the early appearance of these Wings songs, much of the setlist indulged the crowd’s Beatlemania. Energetic versions of Jet and Band On The Run were obvious choices for later.
McCartney acknowledged that he and the band knew what songs the crowd liked because mobile phones usually light up the stadium for those songs. While he has more hits than most others and could play them for hours and hours, McCartney was insistent on doing his own thing. The elder statesman of rock peppered the hits with some idiosyncratic choices that thoughtfully explored the back catalogue. Recent solo material such as Fuh You and Come On To Me are presented in a way that kind of glosses over the underlying sexed-up intent of these songs. My Valentine, written for his wife Nancy Shevell , who is in the audience, replaces My Love, which was written for Linda McCartney all those years ago.

Essentially, the same band that featured in the landmark Good Night New York concerts in 2009 supports McCartney tonight. At this stage of the game, they seem to know these songs like the back of their hand and play each tune like a well-oiled machine. Surprisingly, even McCartney’s banter in between some of these songs has not changed much since those shows – like that story about meeting Jimi Hendrix in London after the release of the Sgt Peppers album. Nonetheless, they deliver the awesome grind of Foxy Lady as a coda to a brilliant version of Let Me Roll It . It isn’t hard to imagine Hendrix offering one he rolled to McCartney all those years ago.
When the crowd cheer him on as McCartney takes off his jacket, a move signifying that he’s about to really get down to business, he pauses and, looking a bit stunned, dryly assures us that this will be the only costume change we will see tonight. Much of the appeal of this show is built squarely on the solid musicianship on display and the timeless appeal of these songs.
Watching McCartney’s fingers slide across the strings of his old Höfner is simply magic. Standing on an elevated platform and playing Blackbird is about as spellbinding as it gets. The entire stadium is pretty much silenced as we soak up the sweetly introspective mood. McCartney tells us that the song came about when he and George took inspiration from the classical music they played to impress upon people that they could play more than just rock and roll.
This tribute to Hendrix is just one of many. Here Today was written after John Lennon was murdered. It is a tearful goodbye as much as it is a celebration of his old friend’s life. While Wings had plenty of hits, those old Lennon-McCartney collaborations are just gold. Later in the show, McCartney holds an old ukulele and casually says, ‘George gave me this one’. He strums and quietly sings Something . It’s a blissful and nostalgic moment with McCartney before the band kicks in with the full dreamy arrangement.
What would the Got Back tour be without the understated grunt of Get Back on the setlist? Surprisingly, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window and Mr Kite! are delivered with a sweet psychedelic sound that’s just groovy. Live And Let Die, complete with pyrotechnics, fireworks, strobe, and lasers, see the band shredding for their lives. It’s a full-tilt rock out that isn’t to be surpassed by the thrills of Helter Skelter, which positively tears the place apart.
McCartney stops the show at some point to tell us that reading the signs fans have made are a great way of making mistakes. He responds to a sign saying, ‘Sign my butt’ with an ‘Okay, then show us what you got’. While you may be thinking, ‘OK boomer’, the cameras turned on the audience to reveal a diverse crowd of young and old. It demonstrates the appeal of these songs is timeless.
There’s a noticeable contingent of fans from Japan up front and worryingly, another fan with a sign calling themselves a ‘fan on the run’ claiming to have seen McCartney 114 times and counting. It’s a clear indication that McCartney’s music transcends and has an almost universal reach.
Encores are comprised entirely of Beatles songs. I’ve Got A Feeling featured a virtual duet with John Lennon , made possible by filmmaker Peter Jackson . McCartney touchingly described the famed rooftop gig as a ‘sweet memory’. Lennon may have snidely accused McCartney of making ‘granny music’ all those years ago, but these songs, more than just stand the test of time, now constitute a culturally significant cornerstone of rock music. Carry That Weight and The End conclude one of the most memorable gigs we have seen in ages.

Paul McCartney in Melbourne. A Tour De Force!
October 23, 2023 Live Reviews
Review by Brian Wise
PAUL McCARTNEY – Marvel Stadium, Melbourne, Saturday October 21, 2023
A few minutes into his first show here in six years, and only his fifth visit ever to Australia, Sir Paul McCartney said, ‘I’m just going to take it all in’, and he stepped aside from the microphone for a few seconds to look at the 50,000 plus audience.
It also gave us the chance to take in the fact that we were seeing the most successful musician in history and a member of the most successful musical group in history. We might have also considered that here was a musician who helped to change history, a claim that might seem exaggerated until you consider the effect that the Beatles had on music and culture (which requires an entire essay or book in itself).
Here also, was a musician who had not only penned one of the greatest ever catalogues of songs but also one of the most covered by other artists. McCartney was able to draw this audience not because of his image (which was iconic in the Beatles) and not because of his stage show (spectacular in itself) but simply because of the songs and the craft behind them.
If I had to find a word to describe the feeling that I had at seeing Sir Paul at this stage of both our lives, it would be ‘awestruck’. After seeing him when I was just into my teens outside the Southern Cross Hotel here in 1964, it was affirming not just because Sir Paul was still here at the age of 81 – more than 61 years after The Beatles’ first record was released – but because we were still here too!
Without labouring the point too much, which I probably did to relatives and friends, there are a lot of entertainers who are described as legends or superstars, who take up a lot of the oxygen in the news atmosphere and who can pull an audience of 100,000 to a venue like the MCG but whose careers will not even be a footnote in history in 60 years’ time. They will only be remembered for the size of the audience not because of any of their songs. As Jody Stephens of Big Star, recently told me, ‘You think you are important until a Beatle walks into the room.’ Paul McCartney is a genuine superstar, the likes of whom we will probably never see again.
All of which might mean a lot less were it not for the fact that the near three-hour show matched the superstar status. The 39-song (!) set list, which included 23 Beatles songs, was preceded by a half hour montage of Beatles/McCartney music and videos on the giant screens either side of the stage, which might have filled in the younger members of the audience on some history (and it was an audience of very mixed ages). My concern that the sound would not be great all the way across the arena on Level 3 – having experienced some atrocious sound there in the past – was swept away. The sound was perfect and way beyond what could have been expected in such a large stadium. Suddenly, our cheaper tickets became bargains! (Much better than being on the floor where everyone was forced to stand for the whole show).
Looking fitter and healthier than probably any of the other 81-year-olds in the audience, McCartney – mainly on bass but also guitar, piano, ukulele and mandolin – was supported by his superb long-time band: Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens on keyboards, Brian Ray on bass and guitar, Rusty Anderson on guitar and Abe Laboriel Jnr on drums (and occasional dancing). There was a choreographed horn section augmenting the sound when needed as well. This relatively small ensemble was able to create an enormous sound and even recreate some of the most complex sounds from the Sgt Pepper’s album. (Nice also to see the Vox amplifiers on stage a la the Beatles days).
At the age of 81 McCartney’s voice is not quite what it was even six years ago but while he didn’t always reach the really high notes, this was a voice was that had aged like fine wine rather than merely being a shadow of its former self – and it didn’t need autotune! The songs were still served brilliantly. Of course, with a backing band that could add harmony vocals, any flat spots were going to be hardly noticeable anyway in the overall brilliance.
“When we play an old Beatles song, the place lights up with all your phones like a galaxy of stars,” confessed McCartney at one stage, adding, “When we play a new one, it’s like a black hole. But we play them anyway.” (Which is a little damning to his post-Beatles/Wings songs, at least one of which, ‘My Valentine’, will remain a classic despite the appearance of Johnny Depp in the video).
Naturally enough, the set list was heavy with his former band’s material. But it wasn’t always the obvious songs. There were the early hit singles and songs from classic albums such as Revolver , Sgt Pepper’s , The Beatles , Abbey Road and Let It Be but it was also amazing to hear ‘For The Benefit of Mr Kite’ and ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ and later Abbey Road ’s ending medley.
Other highlights included the first song the Beatles ever recorded as The Quarrymen, ‘In Spite of The Danger’; a coda to ‘Let Me Roll It’ of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Foxy Lady’; a fabulous version of ‘Band On The Run’; a tribute to George Harrison on which McCartney played the uke; and, a ‘virtual’ duet with John Lennon, shown on video, of ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’ from Let It Be . The patter between songs was concise, relevant and entertaining. You could have devised two or three alternate set lists from all of McCartney’s songs over the decades!
Thankfully, the singalongs – which can destroy some concerts – were few and far between and were mainly orchestrated by McCartney, including ‘Hey Jude’ which became even more epic that its original version with everyone encouraged to join in. (I commend my section where no-one sang unprompted and, believe it or not, no one spoilt the night by being on their phones).
And in the end, to paraphrase the song, the love that Paul McCartney gave the audience was more than equal to the love he received back. As a friend noted, Macca has the ability to play a large stadium and make you think he is talking directly to you .
Afterwards, in the palpable post-concert excitement there were many people claiming that this was the best concert they had ever attended. (If I never saw another concert, this would be a fitting finale). Paul McCartney, the legend, arrived, conquered and left with his reputation enhanced.

Call your parents, call your grandparents and get your phone ready. Music legend Paul McCartney is taking his iconic and beloved songs on tour around Australia later this year, playing a run of shows throughout October and November.
The “Got to Get Back” tour marks the former Beatle’s first run of Australian shows since 2017, where he only played shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth. While the latter has been forgone on his 2023 tour, he’ll still be playing Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, adding Adelaide, Newcastle, and Gold Coast to his itinerary.
“I’ve got so many amazing memories of my time in Australia over the years,” McCartney said in a press statement.

Two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, 21-time Grammy Award winner and recipient of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire Paul McCartney is bringing his acclaimed long-running ‘One On One’ Tour to Australia and New Zealand this December.
The ‘One On One’ Tour launched in the United States in 2016 and saw McCartney play 41 shows across 12 countries to more than 1.2 million people, winning rave reviews from concertgoers and critics alike:
‘In spite of the size of the venues, McCartney and his music forge a personal connection with each and every one in the audience.’ – PopMatters
‘McCartney creates a joy that is boundless both onstage and off.’ – The Washington Times
‘He’s an artist who defined the past, but he’s also an artist unwilling to let go of the future. Rest assured, we’re all the better for it.’ – Consequence of Sound
Irrefutably one of the most successful singer-songwriters and performers of all time, McCartney has soundtracked the lives of generations of fans with the most beloved catalogue in popular music.

The Paul McCartney live experience is everything any music lover could ever want from a rock show — and so much more: Nearly three hours’ worth of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music, dozens of songs that have formed the soundtracks of our lives.
McCartney and his band have played an unparalleled range of venues and locations: outside the Colosseum in Rome, Moscow's Red Square, Buckingham Palace, The White House, a free show in Mexico for over 400,000 people, the last ever show at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park where The Beatles played their final concert in 1966, and even one performance broadcast live into Space!
Featuring McCartney’s band of the last 10+ years – Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – the show is never anything short of life-changing.
