Pinehurst #10 opened this week. Want to play it?

Here’s how to get tickets to the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla

If you think it’s too early to start planning for next year’s PGA Championship when we’re not even halfway through this year’s edition, think again!

The 2024 PGA Championship is already less than a year away, and will be played May 13-19 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky.

In an effort to streamline the ticket-buying process, the PGA of America is asking hopeful attendees to register online in order to have an opportunity to buy tickets. By registering, you are essentially holding your place in line to buy tickets — first come, first serve — when they officially go on sale in June.

So how can you register for tickets to the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla ?

First, visit the 2024 PGA Championship website here .

What makes Oak Hill’s rough so brutal? It’s not its length

Next, click on the Ticket Registry box. From there, you’ll fill out an online form with your name, email, street address and mobile number. That’s it! When tickets do go on sale and your purchase window opens, you’ll be notified with the contact info you provided.

One thing to note: Demand for 2024 PGA Championship tickets at Valhalla is expected to be high. Registering does not guarantee the opportunity to buy tickets, but it’s the best way to ensure you have a chance. If there’s still available inventory after all registrants have had the opportunity to buy tickets, the remaining tickets will be released to non-registrant purchasers.

pga tour 2024 schedule tickets

The 2024 PGA Tour schedule has been announced, with a significant overhaul to the 48-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.

The most significant changes to the schedule are going back to a calendar-year schedule, with the FedEx Cup season running from the start in January through the end of the Tour Championship in August. The FedEx Cup Fall will still unfold from September through November, but these tournaments will not count toward the full-season FedEx Cup standings -- rather, they will be added on to the FedEx Cup points earned through the FedEx St. Jude Championship to determine the top 125 in PGA Tour cards.

Signature events

The PGA Tour has created a series of signature events, all of which will have purses of at least $20 million: the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial Tournament, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship and the Travelers Championship. These events will offer 700 FedEx Cup points to the winners and will have limited fields based on the top 50 in the prior year's FedEx Cup standings and other criteria.

FedEx Cup playoff changes

The FedEx Cup playoffs are changing for 2024 as well. The series will remain at three events, but only the top 70 players in the standings at the end of the regular season will qualify, with cuts to 50, then to 30 players after each of the FedEx Cup events. The FedEx Cup bonus pool increases this year to $100 million.

pga tour 2024 schedule tickets

In August, Golfweek released an exclusive unveiling of the 2024 PGA Tour schedule. It includes the “signature” events for the upcoming season.

Many of the signature events will not have a 36-hole cut, but the Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship and the Memorial will feature a Friday afternoon slim down.

The PGA Tour states that “The three player-hosted Signature Events – The Genesis Invitational, Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday – will feature a 36-hole cut to the top 50 and ties plus any player within 10 shots of the lead.”

While the high-level events are evenly spread throughout the schedule, there is a point where players will have an opportunity to play signature events and majors three weeks in a row: the Memorial, U.S. Open and Travelers Championship.

The PGA Tour has defined these tournaments as such:

Signature Events in 2024 will refer to the eight limited field events featuring top players with increased prize money and FedExCup points (700 points to the winner). (These tournaments were referred to as “Designated events” in 2023.)

The Players Championship, the FedEx Cup Playoff events as well as the four majors are not included among the eight signature events.

2024 Masters Tournament: Schedule and Contestants

T he 2024 Masters Tournament, the inaugural Major golf championship of the year, is here. Running from April 11 to 14, it goes beyond mere monetary gains. It symbolises the prestigious Green Jacket, the rich history, and the drive for greatness on Augusta National Golf Club’s legendary fairways. Discover all about the Masters 2024, including its schedule, important dates, participants, ticket details, and prize pool.

Since its debut in 1934, the Masters has been held amidst blooming azaleas, towering pines, and blossoming dogwoods, creating a stage unique to golf. The current chapter, into its 88th edition, is set in Augusta, Georgia, United States.

Like the exclusive setting, a storyline is waiting to play out, and it’s about turf control in light of the differences between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf . After the storm, there is a lull and talk of conciliation, but with nothing on the horizon yet, both parties will be eager to see one of their own put on the Green Jacket come Sunday, April 14, 2024.

In this game of one-upmanship, the LIV camp will be hoping that Jon Rahm, who was firmly entrenched on the PGA Tour when he won in 2023, will do a repeat, this time as a star of the Saudi-backed league since making the switch late last year.

As we eagerly anticipate the Masters 2024 and the nail-biting action set to unfold on the course, we look back on some of the memorable events that occurred at last year’s edition.

A recap of key moments from the 2023 Masters

Jon Rahm’s victory: The Spaniard overcame challenging weather conditions to win by four shots and earn the coveted Green Jacket. Rahm came back from a double bogey on the first hole of Sunday to demonstrate his fortitude. It marked his second Major triumph, after the 2021 US Open, and became the fourth Spaniard to win the Masters.

Phil Mickelson’s feat: The Hall of Famer began the final round 10 strokes behind overnight leader Brooks Koepka, but signed for an incredible round of 65. He finished T2 after making birdie on five of the last seven holes. At 52, Phil Mickelson, who plays the LIV League, became the oldest player to the feat, setting a new Masters record for the lowest round by a player of 50 or older.

Rory McIlroy’s shocking exit: After he opened with a 72, Rory McIlroy’s struggles were apparent, and they only got worse with the second round 77, and the unexpected early exit sent shock waves through the community.

Brooks Koepka’s Sunday collapse: After winning the LIV Golf event in Orlando the week before, Brooks Koepka came in with a lot of momentum. His game was outstanding the first three days, going into Sunday with the lead. But an unexpected meltdown pushed him to a tie for the second place with Phil Mickelson.

Tiger Woods’ 23rd consecutive cut: Prior to pulling out of the Masters after aggravating his plantar fasciitis condition over the weekend, Tiger Woods made his 23rd straight cut to tie the record of Fred Couples and Gary Player.

The 2023 Masters was particularly noteworthy as it took place in the thick of the controversy surrounding the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Since professional golf was split with the formation of LIV Golf in 2022, this was the first time that golfers from LIV and PGA Tour competed on the same platform, and the hostility was palpable.

Despite the harsh criticism on all fronts regarding the outrageous sums LIV had splashed on signing golf stars, LIV placed three players — Mickelson, Koepka, and Patrick Reed — in the top five. Overall, 12 LIV players made the cut last year.

Masters 2024: Schedule, key dates, tickets, contestants and other details

2024 masters schedule.

Monday, April 8: Practice round

Tuesday, April 9: Practice round

Friday, April 12: Second round

Saturday, April 13: Third round

Sunday, April 14: Fourth round (the Green Jacket ceremony is scheduled for 7pm EDT on April 14/ 7am HKT on April 15).

Course Information

Of the four Majors, only the Masters is held at the same venue every year — the venerable turf of the Augusta National Golf Club.

Designer: Bobby Jones and Alister MacKenzie

Established: 1933

Length: 7,555 yards (for the 2024 Masters)

The Augusta National is an 18-hole course that challenges the best in the business. The course measures 7,555 yards from the longest tees and has a par of 72. The well-kept fairways, sloping greens, and strategically positioned bunkers provide for an unmatched round of golf and adds to the character of the course.

Every hole at Augusta National has an individual personality and moniker. Some of the holes and elements that set Augusta National apart are as follows:

Hole No. 12 (“Golden Bell”): A scenic par-3 above Rae’s Creek, where the whirling winds necessitate precision.

Hole No. 16 (“Redbud”): A par-3 with azaleas all around it, this one is played entirely over water.

Hole No. 18 (“Holly”): The spectacular finale with a tight fairway and a green defended by bunkers.

Amen Corner: Holes 11, 12, and 13 make up the ‘Amen Corner’, a crucial stretch that has the power to make or break a player’s round.

Magnolia Lane: The grand entryway, surrounded by tall Magnolia trees, which sets the tone for the Masters every year.

2024 Masters Contestants and Field

Only invited players can participate in the Masters Tournament, which has the smallest field among the four Majors. Invites consider several factors, like past winners, recent Major champions, top PGA Tour performers, and Official World Golf Ranking.

Wildcards also get invited at the discretion of the Masters’ committee. Players who have won prestigious competitions on the amateur circuit make up the remaining field. Recently, the 2024 Masters field was listed on the official tournament website, formally identifying its players.

Presently, 105 professionals and amateurs, including former winners with lifetime exemptions, have been invited to participate. Only 88 of the invitees have been listed on the official website as probable participants.

Defending champion Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Bubba Watson, Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, Sergio Garcia, Tony Finau, Jordan Spieth, Will Zalatoris, Phil Mickelson, Ludvig Aberg, Xander Schauffele, and possibly Tiger Woods are some of the top names who will play the 2024 Masters.

Tiger Woods’ Status

The field announced by the Masters on its website features the 48-year-old Woods as one of the participants. After winning five Green Jackets during his phenomenal career, Woods is eligible to participate in the Masters for the rest of his life as a past champion.

However, Woods’ inclusion does not necessarily imply that he will tee off. He is restricted by injuries, and had just two PGA Tour starts in 2023 before an ankle surgery. He made the cut in his appearance at the Masters in 2023, but withdrew over the weekend.

Only twice in the last four years has Woods finished all four rounds of an official tournament. Despite all the hurdles, Woods’ inclusion in the 2024 field is exciting news for fans who are eagerly await his return since he withdrew from the 2024 Genesis Invitational in February.

LIV golfers at Masters 2024

Several LIV golfers will compete at the 2024 Masters, although fewer than last year. Around 13 LIV golfers will play the Augusta National this year, and the names include Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Cameron Smith, Tyrrell Hatton, Adrian Meronk, Joaquin Niemann, and Charl Schwartzel.

The PGA Tour and LIV Golf are still at odds as the Masters 2024 commences. Despite both sides’ outward efforts to downplay the us-versus-them storyline, officials of both tours will undoubtedly be keen to see one of their stars win at Augusta, even as negotiations continue in the background.

Prize Money

As with the 2023 edition, a total prize money of USD 18 million is on offer at the 2024 Masters. The top-finishing golfer will take home a whopping USD 3.24 million in prize money. The remainder of the purse is allocated incrementally according to placement.

2024 Masters Tickets

2024 Texas Open live stream, watch online, TV schedule, channel, tee times, golf coverage, radio

The pga tour stays in texas this week for one last tune up before the masters.

valero-texas-open-signage-2023-g.jpg

Just four rounds stand between players and the first major championship of the season. The 2024 Texas Open will serve as the final tune up for some of the world's best as they search for form ahead of the Masters. While many of the top names in the field have already booked their trips to Augusta National, the Texas Open will grant one final spot in the field should a winner without an invitation emerge.

Not needing to worry about this is world No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who has experienced a somewhat tumultuous season up to this point. A bit more erratic with his long game than what we are used to, McIlroy is without a top-10 finish on the PGA Tour and has struggled to string four rounds together. McIlroy hopes to find whatever this missing link may be at TPC San Antonio, where he last played in 2022. McIlroy missed the cut that week, but it served as a good preparation; he finished runner-up at the Masters a week later.

Also factoring in Masters past are champions such as Jordan Spieth and Hideki Matsuyama, who are heading in opposite directions in terms of form. Matsuyama, a winner at the Genesis Invitational, looks much like the man who donned the green jacket in 2021. Spieth, meanwhile, has struggled with consistency. Fresh off back-to-back missed cuts at the Players Championship and Valspar Championship, Spieth is in need of some strong play leading into the Masters.

Collin Morikawa finds himself in a similar position with cold iron play, while players such as Max Homa, Matt FItzpatrick Ludvig Aberg, Tommy Fleetwood and Brian Harman appear keen on entering the winner's circle.

The Masters 2024: Five Things To Know

The 88th Masters Tournament marks the first Major Championship on the 2024 DP World Tour schedule. Here are your five things to know…

GettyImages-2147576481

Rahm defends

Jon Rahm returns to Augusta National a year after securing a fairytale Masters Tournament victory, 40 years on from his hero Seve Ballesteros' second win.

The Spaniard's second Major title came on what would have been Ballesteros' 66th birthday, hunting down third-round leader Brooks Koepka before cruising to a four-shot victory to earn his first Green Jacket and a fifth top-ten finish in seven visits to Augusta.

His route to victory was less than straight-forward, starting the week by four-putting the first hole on Thursday. And after a series of weather delays on Friday and Saturday, he had to complete 30 holes on Sunday - starting the day four shots behind Koepka. Two behind after completion of their third rounds, Rahm had wiped out the deficit in the first four holes and took a two-stroke lead into the back nine. Brilliant back-to-back birdies at the 13th and 14th gave Rahm a four-shot buffer and he parred his way home to sign for a closing 69 and finish the tournament on 12 under par.

He now returns for his eighth Masters appearance, and has the chance to become just the fourth player to successfully defend the Green Jacket.

The key change to Augusta National for 2024

While The Masters is renowned for being the epitome of tradition, Augusta National is not shy of making changes to its famed layout as it adapts to the length modern players hit the golf ball.

Last year, a significant change was made to the famous par five 13th hole, with the tee moved back 35 yards and elevated eight yards after acquiring land from the neighbouring Augusta Country Club. The goal was to change the hole back into a true risk and reward hole as was originally intended, following years of a drop in scoring average.

This year, the big change comes in a new tee box at the par five second hole, Pink Dogwood. Unchanged since the new back tee was introduced and the right fairway bunker moved in 1999, the new tee will move back 10 yards and to the left to make the second hole the longest on the course at 585 yards.

DP World Tour debutants

There are four DP World Tour players making their first appearance at the 88th Masters this week.

After becoming the first player in history to compete in a Ryder Cup before ever playing a Major last September, Ludvig Åberg is making his Major Championship debut this week. The Swede, who is World Number Nine and already a winner on both the DP World Tour and PGA Tour, hasn't finished worse than tied 30th in his last seven starts - including a top ten at the recent Players Championship.

Joining Åberg in the field is fellow Ryder Cup Europe teammate Nicolai Højgaard , who secured his first invite to The Masters by breaking into the top 50 of the world with his maiden Rolex Series victory at the DP World Tour Championship at the end of last season. The 23-year-old, who is a three-time winner on the DP World Tour, has enjoyed an impressive start to his first full season on the PGA Tour - which includes a runner-up finish at the AT&T Pebble Beach PRO-AM in February.

Also enjoying an impressive start to their first full season on the PGA Tour is Matthieu Pavon, who made history as the first French winner on the PGA TOUR since 1907 with victory at the Farmers Insurance Open in January to earn his place in this week's field. It came just three months after earning his maiden DP World Tour title in October, and the Frenchman comes to Augusta after finishing tied fifth at the recent Porsche Singapore Open.

Joining them is 21-year-old Ryo Hisatsune , who is making his first Masters appearance and Major Championship debut after receiving a special invite. The Japanese star enjoyed a remarkable rookie season on the DP World Tour in 2023 after securing his card at the Qualifying School, winning his first DP World Tour title at the Cazoo Open de France in September and becoming the first Japanese player to be named the DP World Tour's Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year. He was one of ten players to earn 2024 PGA Tour membership through his performances on the DP World Tour last year. Has two top 20s so far this season on the PGA TOUR, with his best result a tie for 11th at The American Express in January.

Chasing records

The opportunity to make records at Augusta National is something that presents itself every year. From scoring records, winning records and age-related records to the opportunity to become the first player to win the Par 3 Contest and The Masters in the same week, there are a number of historical markers players can achieve. This week, there are additionally two significant records that could be broken by two very big names in the game.

It's been ten years since Rory McIlroy has lifted a Major title, and this week marks his tenth chance to complete the Major Grand-Slam with a maiden win at The Masters. McIlroy has come close a number of times, most recently with a runner-up finish at the 2022 Masters, but is yet to break through to become the sixth player to win all four Majors. According to one repor t he is planning to prepare differently this year - including a later arrival and skipping the par 3 contest - as he targets his first Major title since the 2014 US PGA Championship.

Tiger Woods also makes his return from injury this week with his own chance to add to his successful Masters history. He had to withdraw last year in the third round with an injury to his heel but by then the five-time winner had already maintained an incredible record of made cuts at The Masters. He has not missed a cut since his victory in 1997, a remarkable 23 from 23 appearances in the paid ranks. If he makes the cut on this year's trip down Magnolia Lane, he will break the record he now shares with Gary Player and Fred Couples for most consecutive cuts made at Augusta. While unlikely, but more remarkably, he could also tie Jack Nicklaus for a record six Masters titles, having added his fifth with his remarkable victory in 2019.
