Princess Academy guides agents as they rise through the educational levels from First Officer to Commodore. Princess Academy strives to teach agents to sell cruises more effectively. Courses include how to break into the luxury travel market and how to bring back clients for repeat cruises. Agents receive specific information on the different ships within the Princess fleet and the itineraries that are offered for each of those ships. There is additional education offered for agents to become a Princess Alaska Expert. Many clients dream of seeing the wilderness of Alaska in person and cruising is one of the best opportunities to do so. With the variety of itineraries and shore excursions that highlight this gorgeous frontier, becoming a Princess Alaska Expert is an ideal way to find the best cruise for these in-demand and high-ticket cruises. Once an agent completes their Commodore level courses, they are eligible for exclusive marketing materials as part of the Commodore marketing kit. Completing the Commodore level also earns an agent a free Graduation Cruise Course. This is the final step in the Princess Academy program and allows agents to experience Princess up close and in person.

Local travel agent earns prestigious top rank with cruise line

CASSOPOLIS — A Cassopolis travel agent has achieved prestigious status in Princess Cruises’ Academy training program, certifying him as an expert cruise professional.

Melvin Reynolds of Cruise Brothers has achieved Commodore status, joining an exclusive group of travel agents who are now recognized by Princess at the Academy’s highest level for their unique qualifications and knowledge as a cruise planning professional. Melvin earned this distinction after completing the minimum 25 courses necessary to graduate from the program.

“We at Princess are very proud of Melvin Reynolds’s dedication, as he put in extra effort to offer clients exceptional knowledge regarding our cruise vacation product as well as our worldwide destinations,” said Jan Swartz, Senior Vice President of Customer Service and Sales at Princess. “Travel agents who reach this top level in our Academy program have completed hours of coursework to become a cruising expert, which will prove invaluable to providing clients with a great vacation.”

Princess Academy is the cruise industry’s most comprehensive online training program available to travel agents in the U.S. and Canada. Agents who complete the extensive coursework become experts on a wide range of topics, offering travelers full knowledge of important details about a Princess vacation such as the different passenger amenities on the line’s 17 ships, the company’s worldwide destinations, and the many special programs available onboard.

 “I’m thrilled to be a Princess Commodore and expand my expertise about cruising,” Reynolds said. “The knowledge I’ve gained makes me a more valuable resource for my clients, and enables me to recommend the very best vacation which matches all of their needs.”

To become a Commodore, travel agents must fulfill 25 required and elective classes, representing approximately 15 hours of total course work covering worldwide destinations, onboard programs and customer service skills. As they complete courses, agents receive their “stripes” through four levels: First Officer, Staff Captain, Captain and finally Commodore. Agents can continue to take elective courses to expand their knowledge and keep their Commodore status current.

The Core.Balance.Strength exercise program is offered exclusively on Princess cruise ships. Designed by world-class fitness experts, the services include specialized classes, counseling and nutritional guidance that helps passengers maintain a positive and healthy lifestyle. Core classes will focus on pilates training and flexibility while the balance component features yoga lessons. Themed after Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation, the Tour de Cycle spinning class rounds out the program with the ultimate calorie-burning strength training.

Choose active shore excursions

Princess Cruises Revises World Cruise Itineraries to Avoid Red Sea

Princess Cruises is changing its 2025 World Cruise itineraries to avoid the Red Sea in light of the ongoing situation in the Middle East. Neither of the line's World Cruises will visit the Middle East or Asia, but will instead add stops in Africa and Europe. "A Princess World Cruise is truly the voyage of a lifetime and after careful consideration with guidance from global security experts and government authorities, we know our guests will understand and appreciate the change to our upcoming 2025 itineraries to avoid certain areas," said Terry Thornton, chief commercial officer for Princess Cruises.

"These global events beyond our control have necessitated these re-routings, but we are pleased to continue to ensure these world cruises retain destination-rich itineraries with incredible stops along the west Africa coast and the Mediterranean."

Island Princess Sailing from North America, Island Princess' 116-day World Cruise offers two roundtrip options with departures from both Fort Lauderdale (Jan. 5, 2025) and Los Angeles (Jan. 20, 2025). The revised portion of the World Cruise runs between Feb. 16 and April 9, now departing Sydney and ending in South Africa. From there, the cruise resumes the scheduled itinerary starting in Valletta, Malta on April 9.

Guests originally scheduled to depart or join the cruise from Dubai on March 14, 2025, will now embark or disembark four days earlier on March 9, in Cape Town, South Africa. Booked guests disembarking in Cape Town will be refunded the amount equivalent to four days of the cruise fare. Those joining earlier will not incur an added cost to their cruise fare. All these guests will also receive a $300 onboard credit.

Crown Princess Departing from Auckland on May 31, 2025 or Sydney on June 4, Crown Princess' 113-day World Cruise will also bypass the Red Sea and surrounding region, including the transit of the Suez Canal. The ship will travel via Africa instead of the Red Sea and Asia itinerary.

Moscow is a Volga River cruise port, Russia's capital and largest city (population over 12,2 million, metro 17 million). Moscow City covers a total area of approx 2610 km 2 (970 mi2). By population, the city is ranked the world's 14th largest. Moscow is one of the Russian Federation's all 3 federal cities - together with St Petersburg and Sevastopol .

Being Russian Federation's capital, Moscow is a major economic, political, scientific and cultural center, as well as Europe's biggest city.

According to Forbes 2013, Moscow has been ranked as the 9th most expensive city in the world by Mercer and has one of the largest urban economies, being ranked as an alpha global city according to Globalization and World Cities Research Network. It is also one of the fastest-growing tourist destinations in the world according to MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index. Moscow is the northernmost and the coldest megacity and metropolis on the Earth. It's home to Ostankino Tower, the tallest free-standing European structure; the Federation Tower, the tallest European skyscraper; and the Moscow International Business Center. 

Moscow is situated on Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia, which makes it the most populated inland city in the world. Moscow city is well known for architecture, particularly its historic buildings like Saint Basil's Cathedral. With over 40% of its territory covered by greenery, it's one of the greenest capitals and major cities in Europe and the world. Moscow is the seat of power of the Russian Government, being the site of Moscow Kremlin, a medieval city-fortress that is now the residence of the President of Russia. Moscow Kremlin and Red Square are among the several World Heritage Sites in the city. 

Moscow has 2 passenger terminals, North River Terminal (Rechnoy vokzal) and South River Terminal. The regular ship routes and cruises along Moskva and Oka rivers are used mostly for entertainment. North River Terminal (1937-built) is currently the main hub for long-range routes along the river. There are 3 freight ports that serve Moscow.

In late-July 2021 the city announced plans to incorporate a fleet (unspecified number) of fully electric passenger ferries into its public transportation network from summer 2022, the goal being to reduce the dependence on cars.

• The boats are designed with length ~22 m (72 ft), passenger capacity 42, modern amenities (Wi-Fi, USB charging points, tables for working commuters), spaces for storing scooters and bicycles.
• Moscow Transport confirmed that two routes (with max daily capacity ~16,000 passengers) have already been mapped out.
• Passengers will be able to pay via bank cards, the city’s Troika card (smart card for travel by any public transportation) or biometric payment cards. Those with monthly/yearly public transit tickets will use the boats at no extra cost.
• The new electric ferry service is up to 5 times faster (in comparison to other city public transports) and ~2 times faster than by car.

Moscow cruise terminal

Moscow's cruise terminal is called North River Terminal or River Station  ("Rechnoy Vokzal" / "речной вокзал").

The terminal was opened in 1937 and is one of 2 passenger terminals (the other being South River Terminal) of the city's river transport. North River Terminal is the main hub for long-range (including cruise) shipping routes.
