23 October 2023, 13:30 | Updated: 24 October 2023, 11:26

Rihanna is 'quietly planning' a huge comeback - here's what we know so far

By Abbie Reynolds

The Rihanna drought has been a long one but get out your Umbrella 'ellas because RiRi is reportedly planning a major comeback with a world tour and two new albums! Here's everything we know so far.

Listen to this article

We haven't had a new Rihanna album since 'ANTI' in 2016 but she remerged in the music scene when she dropped her first song in six years ' Lift Me Up ' for Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever.

This year the 'Needed Me' singer's Super Bowl performance became the most-watched halftime show ever. It was her first live performance in more than five years and she took the opportunity to reveal she was pregnant with her's and A$AP Rocky's second child.

As we near the end of 2023 fans are wondering - will 'R9' come this year, or in 2024? Well, despite Rihanna recently giving birth to her second son Riot Rose, it has been reported that she is gearing up for the comeback of a lifetime. RiRi insiders have since shut down the reports, saying 'no tour has been confirmed', but that won't stop the Navy manifesting a tour from their idol.

Even as a mum-of-two the Work doesn't stop, so it wouldn't surprise us if RiRi does announce a tour. Here's everything you need to know about the rumours on RiRi's mega return, including reports of a highly-anticipated world tour.

Rihanna has signed a ÂŁ32 million deal with Live Nation

Will Rihanna be going on a world tour in 2024?

After reports claimed Rihanna's signed a multi-million pound deal with Live Nation, insiders close to the singer shut down the speculation saying: "No tour has been confirmed for Rihanna.”

It comes after sources claimed that she was planning an international tour in 2024 and 2025.

The deal with the entertainment company Live Nation "was created to facilitate a world tour," an insider told The Mirror .

"Her creative team is quietly at work in Los Angeles putting it all together as she raises her family. She’ll press play on the live show once she’s ready to go back to work,” it was said.

Rihanna welcomed her second son in August 2023

How to get tickets to Rihanna's world tour

In October it was claimed that the star had signed a mega deal with Live Nation. So far, Live Nation have not gone public with any tour dates or planned ticket sales but they will be our first point of call for any updates.

Rihanna and her long-term boyfriend A$AP Rocky welcomed their second son Riot into their lives in August so it might be later into 2024 than we'd like before she returns to stage. A newborn and a tour might even been too much for a powerhouse superstar like RiRi.

As soon as more information on Rihanna's tour and how to get tickets is available, we'll update this page!

When was Rihanna's last world tour?

Rihanna's last tour was The ANTI world tour in 2016 which started in March in Florida, Jacksonville and ended in November in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The 'ANTI' tour was the artist's seventh concert tour and was in support of her eighth studio album ANTI. Only Big Sean accompanied RiRi as a support act on her UK/Europe dates of the tour after The Weekend pulled out last minute. For her North America dates Rihanna had Travis Scott as her special guest.

The tour started just after her song 'Work' with Drake hit No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and she surprised fans across the world by bringing him onto stage to perform with her.

Rihanna shares sweet footage of her son

After teasing new music for years, Rihanna is currently sitting on an abundance of new tunes the insider continued: "[She] has two albums’ worth of material to release once she’s back.”

Rihanna's fandom pushed a theory a few years ago suggesting Rihanna's comeback could actually be a double album. With news that she has two albums' worth of material this theory could be coming true - now that would be quite the Rihanna revival.

After her Super Bowl performance this year she said she was "excited to actually put new music out" but she didn't have any updates - maybe this excitement could spur the new mum to get back into it sooner rather than later.

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are now the parents of two little boys

Since her album hiatus the star has featured on a PARTYNEXTDOOR song 'Believe It', as well as releasing music for the Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever soundtrack with 'Lift Me Up'.

She returned to live performing in May of this year when she announced her second pregnancy at her Super Bowl halftime show. Dressed in an iconic red fit beside her dancers in all white, the 'Work' star flashed her baby bump.

Her Super Bowl performance, which became most watched half time show ever, went viral on TikTok with even Kim Kardashian and Mariah Carey's daughters North West and Monroe Cannon recreating the routine.

Rihanna made her entrance through one of the tunnels like a boxer coming out for the main event. Concealing her face under a heavy hood, she slowly found her way onto the platform opposite the stage. A spotlight followed her every move, making the white robe glow, while phone lights provided stars to pierce through the dark night surrounding her. A single microphone waited on a stand as thunderous applause and ear-piercing screams filled the venue, and it served to silence the crowd in an instant. “All along it was a fever, a cold sweat hot-headed believer…” Having exposed nothing more than her unmistakable voice (and fingernails and unmistakable ass) to her audience, there was no doubt as to who was hiding under that robe. The entirety of “Stay” was performed from that position, before she revealed her face. Having attended close to a thousand concerts, it’s not often I find myself in awe at being in close proximity to a musician, but seeing Rihanna standing in front of me, in the flesh, made me realize what a cult of personality she has built around herself. As she continued the performance with “Love the Way You Lie (Part II)”, she was part pop diva, part rock star, part sex symbol, all while never being anything but Rihanna. She is still so young, yet has already solidified herself among the very few people in history who everyone will know by a single name. It was very in the show, but I was already convinced she had earned that status as well. Her voice is her defining talent, but her business acumen, stage presence, attitude, and beauty are what complete the package. - See more at: http://ilistensoyoudonthaveto.com/2016/05/10/rihanna-viejas-arena-05-09-16/#sthash.AluW51yF.dpuf

With all that has happened in France recently, Rihanna faced a stiff challenge getting Parisians and herself in a summery party mood at the Stadt De France.

However, she seemed to instinctively make the right choices to tap into the crowds fears, their need to reflect and their right to sing and dance without care. Rihanna opened the show hidden beneath a white hooded sweater and sang the wistful 'Stay' - a song whose lyrics took on a lot of ambivalence given the current political climate.

The songs from her Anti album were well received even though their lazy, sexy groove is more suited to a more intimate arena. Among the many hits from the album, 'Desperado' and 'Kiss it Better' stood out as they showcased Rihanna's scything vocals and Prince-like funk.

Rihanna also expertly mixed in medleys of favourites such as 'Umbrella', 'Man Down' and 'We Found Love in a Hopeless Place.' An undoubted highlight was 'Diamonds' which was introduced with a genuinely heartfelt speech by Rihanna expressing support for peace and the people of France. She then asked for the stadium to send out its light to France by way of illuminated mobile phones and the result was a spectacular touching moment.

By the end of the show, everyone had fallen more in love with Rihanna and headed back into the dark Parisian night with a little more light in their hearts and minds.

You've seen her music videos. You follow her on twitter. You follow her style, trends, favorites. You sing the lyrics in the shower, driving home with your friends, serenading a lover. But nothing is as real as seeing Rihanna perform live!!! The energy from the audience, the attitude and power that's thrown back off the stage...ah-maz-ing. The peeks and valleys from the soulful serenade of Stay to the sexy shock of S&M it's all new once you hear it live! One of my favorite things about going to a show is not only the excitement building up to it, buying the tickets then getting my bracelet and going in. That's just the beginning. I love more than anything, after seeing a great show and I'm back at home listening to the music, remembering where I was, who I was with, how I felt, what I saw and how much fun we were having when we were rocking out and suddenly, Rihanna isn't just some celebrity entertainer, she is a part of something bigger and the music is suddenly different, better, more meaningful. I've seen Rihanna a couple of times and every time that girl delivers. Her fans love her, she has attitude and swag that makes her real and sometimes the energy leaves you glowing for days and asking yourself, how long do I have to wait until music makes me feel this high again?

It was a great concert from the begining. DJ Mustard started the show, and it was wery good warm up, people were dancing.

Then after a little break came on the stage Big Sean. That was also powerful performance and we really enjoyed that.

After another break started Rihanna's show. She came from the back of the arena to the little stage above the soundmen. Two slow songs were awesome. Than she walked on steel and glass bridge and sing a song Woo and another one above us. See was so close to us, that was perfect. Then the reast of the show was on the main stage. She sings wery well, but the sound was overbassed, and the singing can't be heared clearly, that was mistake. Also she was'n talk much, she gave us one song after another. But the songs are so great. It was generally songs from the new album Anti, great. The show duration was 90min.

I'm so blessed that I was on the show. I was great. Thank you and hopefully see you RiRi again soon.

Rihanna's Anti World tour concert in MalmĂś was even better than I expected. I have to be honest, I was not a big fan of hers but of course Queen Riri changed that with her beautiful yet slaying personality and amazing voice. The overall experience was fun althought the only thing that was a littlee annoying is the fact that the concert started a little more than an hour later than what it was supposed to. But I mean.. it's Rihanna, she can do whatever. A tips from me would be to either buy the standing tickets as close to the scene as possible or buy the ones that are high up and on the opposite side of the scene. I was up and although it was long away from Riri it was magical to see all the people and the lights and literary everything. If you're hesirating weather you should go or not I would tell you to go go go, because it is such a beautiful and fun experience to have!

In one word - unforgettable.

Rihanna was in rare form. This tour has a more subdued palette than her other tours, as the stage was a blank white, and all of her outfits were in shades of cream, tan, black, and brown. However, there was a special energy in the room that night. Rihanna seemed happy, comfortable, and more in control than she has ever been. She joked with the crowd, engaged with all sides of the arena, and made sure everyone had a good time. Halfway during the concert, she announced that it was party time, and the stage lit up with these cool colored pods that pulsated in different colors. Other highlights include her flying over the audience, a foam machine on stage, and her dancers exciting the crowd in sparkly outfits.

I envy those who are going to see her, and implore those who can still buy tickets to do so!

Rihanna is probably one of the best pop artists at the moment. I've gone to three shows - first in Portugal, in her "Loud" tour; 2nd in London in a small venue for her "777" tour; and the last one in Richmond park, as part of the "Unapolagetic" tour. All of them were incredibly amazing! Her songs put so much energy in the crowd and it's impossible to not get stuck to her dance moves and stage special effects.

From the lights, sceneries, to the outfits - everything is top quality and very sophisticated and original.

You are able to listen to the top hits, and also some medleys from her older stuff. Setlists are wisely chosen, as they keep the crowd excited along the show.

I would definitely go to her next show - it's always a surprise and somewhat different from what she has done until now.

Daaaammmn. I didn't know what to expect, especially since I found myself more excited for the preshow of 'the weeknd'to the Rhianna tour and contemplated selling the tickets after he and Travis Scott pulled out. I'm glad I didn't. The show itself made me realise just how many anthems Rhianna has to her name. These sprinkled throwbacks were the most memorable for me throughout the show. The set and lighting combined to give a fab production value over all, in particular the very beginning where Rihanna emerged from behind and took a smaller stage before flying off on a clear platform across to the main stage. Overall I really really enjoyed the show. Wasn't quite one that made me jump and wave my arms around, but one that made me appreciate the talent Rihanna clearly has.

The Weeknd 2016 oscars

“Can’t Feel My Face” no more. Rihanna fans looking forward to The Weeknd’s opening set on her European tour will have to go without, as the 26-year-old has dropped out of her “Anti” tour.

On Thursday, the two-time Grammy winner revealed his cancellation via Live Nation, citing a busy schedule. Given he has yet to personally comment on the matter, fans are left to dig through his social media trail in search of an explanation. On Tuesday, he cryptically tweeted “it’s my job to make music…not to convince you,” which only fueled more speculation and curiosity. Rihanna , for her part, has not addressed the change in acts. She kicked off the tour on March 12 in Jacksonville, Fla. Her album, “Anti,” was released on Jan. 28.

Travis Scott is set to join Rihanna on tour in North America, while Big Sean will continue as planned to open her sets in Europe.

The Weeknd was nominated for an Academy Award this year for his song “Earned It,” in “Fifty Shades of Grey.” He is in a relationship with the model Bella Hadid.

Rihanna Announces Anti World Tour With The Weeknd, Travi$ Scott and Big Sean

Rihanna is taking more steps toward world domination in 2016 by embarking on the Anti World Tour.

Her rumored boo Travi$ Scott is set to open up for her during the North American leg of the tour while Big Sean and The Weeknd will join her in Europe.

Although this will be RiRi's first world tour since 2013, when she set out on her Diamonds World Tour, the Rihanna Navy will have to wait a few more weeks to secure their spot to see her live. Tickets are set to be released on Dec. 3 through Live Nation while American Express will give fans access to a pre-sale on Nov. 30.

There will be ample time to learn all of the lyrics from her forthcoming album, Anti . However, the latest rumor is that  Anti will drop on Tidal on Black Friday (Nov. 27) and will be made available to the rest of the public on Dec. 4.

Rihanna announced the tour -- sponsored by Samsung -- after releasing the first installment of her ANTIdiaRY series, which will delve into her creative process and life. The first visual shows Rihanna in a room with two young children. She lifts the covers to catch glimpses of the kids but they disappear down a hallway. Then another child appears with a crown, just like her  Anti  album cover.  The singer then finds a key that reads R8 on the floor before the clip comes to an end.

There's plenty more to come from Rihanna before 2015 is over, but in the meantime, check out video and see when Rihanna will be in your city below.

the weeknd and rihanna

Rihanna ‘s ANTI World Tour is rolling along without any hiccups since it started earlier this month in Jacksonville, Fla. But a minor bump in the stateside trek just occurred with this news.

The Weeknd , who was slated to join the “Work” singer on the European side of her trek reportedly pulled out of the tour altogether. According to Live Nation via NME , various obligations with the Toronto native’s music placed a roadblock in fulfilling his tour commitment.

“Due to some unforeseen changes with upcoming projects, The Weeknd will no longer be joining Rihanna on her upcoming international ‘ANTI World Tour.'” the statement reads. There’s no further details as to what else probably prompted The Weeknd to drop out of the tour.

Big Sean is still scheduled to join Rih for her EU arrival which begins June 17.

The Weeknd

The Weeknd’s postponed tour of Australia is now canceled and ticket owners will be refunded.

The Canadian R&B superstar had initially scheduled an 11-date stadium tour of Australia and New Zealand, winding its way across both countries last November and December.

“The Weeknd ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” reads a statement from LN, seen by Billboard . “Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled with all ticket holders receiving a full refund accordingly.”

Ticket holders of the The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ shows who previously held on to their tickets will be able to access a priority purchase window for the new tour in Australia and New Zealand when announced, the message reads, linking to a priority waitlist . All current ticket holders will receive an automatic refund.

The tour was originally announced last August with just four shows, visiting each of Australia’s big three east coast cities — Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane — and including a single date in Auckland, NZ.

Additional dates were added last September , boosting the itinerary to 11 across both markets.

The Weeknd’s tour is scrapped as Australia’s festivals market navigates turbulent waters. In recent weeks, the 2024 editions of Splendour in the Grass, Mona Foma, and Groovin The Moo, with soft ticket sales playing a part in each story.

The inaugural Soundcheck report, published by Creative Australia, found the climate for operating a festival was a “highly complex” one, with event organizers challenged with myriad issues, from rapidly increasing costs, changing ticket buying behavior and more.

In the U.S., he has landed seven No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 and four No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200.

On Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart, published last Friday, April 19 , the Weeknd’s hits collection The Highlights lifts 8-4 in its 167th week on the tally. It’s triple-platinum certified in Australia.

Breaking: The Weeknd has cancelled his Australian tour

After postponing due to “unforeseen circumstances”, the Starboy has officially scrapped all of his sold-out shows

Leah Glynn

Nooo! After months of confusion following the announcement in November last year that the Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn tour was postponed due to “unforeseen circumstances”, it has just been revealed that the entire run of sold-out Aussie gigs have been cancelled.

The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) had been scheduled to play four epic shows at Marvel Stadium on December 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2023, with performances also confirmed in both Sydney and Brisbane. None of these will go ahead now, with Ticketek confirming that full refunds will be issued to all ticketholders

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” reads a statement on the ticketing company’s website.

It’s expected that refunds will take approximately 30 days to appear in the accounts of ticketholders. And if the Weeknd does indeed decide to head Down Under again (c’mon, we gotta hold out hope), those people will be able to access a priority pre-sale purchase window for new tickets. If sitting in that stressful Ticketek waiting room is something you’d do all over again just to see the Starboy in real life, there’s a waitlist you can join here .

There’s been no word from the Weeknd himself regarding the Aussie cancellations, and he didn’t publicly comment on the initial postponement – so we’re not holding out hope for statement (or apology!).

All those tears you were saving for another day? Yep, it’s time to shed ‘em. We’ll keep you updated with new info as it comes in.

Future and metro boomin score another no. 1 debut with 'we still don’t trust you’.

NEWARK, NEW JERSEY - SEPTEMBER 12: Metro Boomin and Future perform onstage during the 2023 MTV Video ... [+] Music Awards at Prudential Center on September 12, 2023 in Newark, New Jersey. (Photo by Theo Wargo/Getty Images for MTV)

Future and Metro Boomin have achieved another significant career feat as their latest joint project once again takes the number one spot on the charts. Their second collaborative album, We Still Don’t Trust You , debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 chart just three weeks after its antecedent, We Don’t Trust You , also held the same position.

According to Billboard , We Still Don’t Trust You , released on April 12, amassed 127,500 album units from sales and streams of both the album and singles in the U.S. by the end of its first week. The duo’s first collaborative album, We Don’t Trust You , also debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and accumulated twice as much in its first week, reaching 251,000 units three weeks ago.

Beyonce's Cowboy Carter has been displaced from the top of the chart and is now at number two, with We Don't Trust You occupying the third spot.

Kendrick Lamar's diss verse on the song "Like That" from the first album catapulted hip-hop culture into its purest form with a frenzied display of competitive wit. This track sparked responses from J. Cole and Drake, igniting a series of rap beefs that also involved Rick Ross, ASAP Rocky, and The Weeknd, making waves onto the second album.

On We Still Don’t Trust You ASAP Rocky's suggestive lyrics in the song "Show of Hands" may be hinting at Drake and his rumored relationship with Rihanna, while The Weeknd also subtly references Drake and his OVO collective in "All to Myself."

Last month, "Like That" made a powerful debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100, Global 200, and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts. This much-anticipated achievement was fueled by Kendrick Lamar's provocative references to J. Cole and Drake. Luminate reported that "Like That" garnered an impressive 10.26 million on-demand streams in the United States on its first day alone, with a total of 25.62 million streams within three days.

‘Challengers’ Reviews: Does Zendaya Tennis Movie Score With Critics?

‘baby reindeer’ star says real martha searches need to stop, patriots select north carolina quarterback drake maye with no 3 pick in nfl draft.

The track also amassed an impressive 3.73 million plays on Spotify , surpassing competitors by 400,000 streams and debuted at No. 1 on the platform’s U.S. chart.

We Still Don’t Trust You is Future's tenth to debut at the top spot, while it also marks Metro Boomin's fifth to reach this feat. This achievement surpasses Future's previous record for the shortest time between number one debuts, which he set with back-to-back releases of his self-titled album and HNDRXX in March 2017.

The Weeknd’s delayed Oz/NZ tour officially axed

The stadium outing was first postponed in November 2023, just three weeks before it was due to kick off

The Weeknd’s highly anticipated return to Australia and New Zealand has officially been cancelled.

The stadium outing was first postponed in November 2023 , just three weeks before it was due to kick off due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

Australian event ticketing company Ticketek informed ticketholders on Tuesday (23 April) that the Canadian singer, real name Abel Tesfaye, would not be making the trip Down Under.

“The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled,” Ticketek revealed.

“Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund,” they continued.

“The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn Tour’ for Australia & New Zealand is still in process of being rescheduled”

Ticketek is encouraging ticket holders to join the waitlist for a forthcoming announcement to gain access to a priority pre-sale.

Originally, The Weeknd was due to perform 11 dates in the region including at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, Sydney’s Accor Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Eden Park in Auckland.

The Weeknd launched his After Hours til Dawn stadium tour in summer 2022 and grossed US$130 million from 19 shows that year.

He returned to the road in June 2023 and completed 42 shows in Europe and Latin America, earning $220,985,529 at the box office from a ticket total of 2.2 million.

During the European leg, the star smashed Wembley Stadium’s record for sales with a traditional concert set up with 87,000 tickets sold. The artist also set a new attendance record for London Stadium after drawing 160,000 fans over two nights in July 2023.
