Southall travel organised a wonderful…

Southall travel organised a wonderful trip in the golden triangle of India including Agra, Ranthambore and Jaipur. Our driver Pradeep was safe and knowledgeable and the hotels were all great with the exception of the Royal Orchid hotel In Jaipur. Southall Travel should look at the public health issues with the swimming pool here, very disturbing. Also if you travel with Southall travel ask about the zones at Ranthambore before you book. Try to go into zones 1,2,3 or 4 even if it’s in a canter. You are much more likely to see tigers in these zones.

Company is lying that full refund is…

Company is lying that full refund is not given by airline.such a big agency and Waited 40 days for refund provide all medical document useless customer care didn’t reply to email £270 detected even medical ground evidence provided for cancer patient. Airline said it was refunded to agency and they will do the refund.

What a shocking company. Paid deposit after being given quote then 2 days later the price rises by £800.steer clear of them

Air India has launched a new service that will allow passengers taking flights to India to check-in online.

Air India has launched a new service that will allow passengers taking  flights to India  to check-in online.

The carrier will open check-in 48 hours before departure for domestic and international flights originating from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad, reported Express Buzz.

Passengers will be able to print out their own boarding pass and once at the airport will be able to go directly to security checks rather than check-in.

Anyone travelling with baggage will still need to collect registered baggage tags and take their luggage to the appropriate drop-off point.

To celebrate the recent International Women’s Day, Air India launched a number of specially reduced fares for passengers as well as operating a number of women-only services, with female on-board crew and on the ground support staff.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are thieves and steal money from their customers! I paid a £150 deposit in good faith, which I was told was refundable should I not wish to go ahead my booking. I ended up booking tickets myself and they refused to give me my money back. I lodged a complaint and despite having evidence and their calls being recorded, they fobbed me off and keep telling me they will sort this out and get back to me. This has been going on for the last 6 months. Southall Travel are thieves and liars and should be ashamed of themselves.

I have had the worst experience of my life, also the most expensive flight I have ever paid for with AIR INDIA, returning home 03/02/23( Never again). I have booked Flights with Southall Travel since the 80's so felt I could still trust them for a good deal. Return Flights costing £3800.00 for crap seats with an 89yr old woman seated at the back of the plane who also needed wheelchair assistance is really disgusting behaviour. Never again, also asking many passengers how much they had paid £1300 was the most expensive !!! I have officially complained to Air India also. The cost of living these days are so difficult normally and as this wasn't an actual holiday, what a big mistake using your company, MG Innes

Scamming agency- DO NOT USE. They refuse to refund the money for a cancelled flight inspite of airlines saying they have refunded more than a month ago. We have also found out that they lie in their website about being register with ABTA for dispute resolution. This agency SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO OPERATE!!! AVOID at all cost! No point in contacting the customer service either!

No such thing as a "youth" ticket for 12-15 year olds Decided to book a holiday to Dubai at midnight and instead of booking directly on Emirates website we thought we'd call Southall Travel, knowing they'd be open. Wish we hadn't! We booked for 2 adults, a 12 year old and 5 year old. A 12 year old is classed as an adult, but when we went to check in, Emirates website said our eldest was booked on a child ticket. We called Southall Travel who assured us that our 12 year old was booked on a "youth" ticket and would be fine to travel. We called Emirates to check as we didn't want any problems at the airport. Emirates told us there is no such thing as a "youth" ticket and that Southall Travel would need to reissue the ticket as an adult ticket. Southall Travel wouldn't reissue the ticket so we asked them to send us an email to confirm that we wouldn't have any problems at the desk. We then spoke to a friend of ours who works for Emirates and she also said she'd never heard of a youth ticket before. We called ST again and asked them to reissue the ticket. After a few phonecalls, they did and we travelled to Dubai with no issues. However, we had the same issue on our return journey. This time, we managed to check in online fine, but when we went to check in at the desk, Emirates said the same thing, that our 12 year old had been issued a child ticket and not an adult ticket. They then asked us to go to the ticket desk at Dubai airport and speak with our travel agent. Again, after many phonecalls, no luck with ST. The man at the desk got fed up and said put the phone down I will issue you an adult ticket myself! Long story short, don't trust Southall Travel to book you a ticket for a 12-15 year old - as they class this as a "youth" ticket - when there is no such thing. What should have been a straight forward trip to Dubai, became a stressful experience - with many unnecessary phone calls between ST and Emirates, and also a 12 year old who thought we may not be able to travel! I definitely won't be using Southall Travel again and won't recommend it either. All of the travel consultants we spoke to were arrogant, patronising and unhelpful. I write this review so that other parents aren't faced with a similar situation.

DO NOT!!! use this firm. They took £15204.44 off me for £1520.04 flights and I then had to pay £240 to get it back. If you want trusted cheap flights use 'Google flights' Then you can book direct with the Airline.

Rubbish travel agent I booked tickets to travel to India via jet airways which failed while i was in India I contacted them and travel agent instead of helping started selling me tickets - return for £1700 pounds per person - Some of my friends bought it. I purchased new tickets to fly back and now I am claiming money via credit card chargeback scheme and this crooks are preventing them They are not ATOL protected and they sell tickets for airlines that is not ATOL protected too. so providing wrong information to customers Customer service remains poor and they do not have complaint procedure/policy or department. I have serious concerned about this travel agent. I am in process of reporting them for fraud.

I am angry I am hurt by southal travel treatment I was coustomer since 2012 My email was hacked so I created different e mail , by the time my phone contract was finished so I took different phone number it wasn't any other matters with change e mail and change phones I changed the address Iused to buy tickets and travel same name same everything Now I needed my 5 years travel history for official reason and called them in between seven days I spoke to 10 agents of southal travel I have e mail customer care but they didn't back me for neither call or email there was no luck what's so ever. I decided to talk to the manager one person came phone he introduced himself as manager called Reymond at first he seems genuinely want solve my problems he crossed check my previous number my previous address it was fine I was talking to him in Friday and promise me that he will give me by Monday . when Monday came he didn't call or email me again I called him and find out he was changed person data protection act he can't give it to me again I did offer him that any sort of documents driving license or passport which I always travel theare tickets I was so politely request them no luck I am amezed that the data they are talking about that's my data I am ready to verify even in court They are very unhelpful unprofessional I am very sad thire treatment

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. Once you have booked and they have your money they do not want to help you. They are not bothered about telling you they won't help you. The staff are rude and the managers are just as bad. The flights were cheap but it's not worth it. I will never use this terrible service again. I was using them to book flights for my wedding in Thailand. I can't undo my booking. I will ensure nobody else attending the wedding use them. I would advise you to look elsewhere.

Why has my prior review not been posted? Because Southall Travel has somehow had it removed? So that other consumers won't know that they are thieving criminals? I phoned my bank today, finally getting through. They were able to tell me that, contrary to Southall Travel's claims, no refund was ever issued. For three weeks this company has lied through its teeth to me, claiming money had been refunded but knowing full well it had not. My bank is launching an investigation. Please do not make the mistake of using this horrible company.

CORRUPT, FRAUDULENT CRIMINALS. Please don't make the mistake I did and have anything to do with them. I booked a flight with them online. They emailed me the next day and had me call them, when they told me that the flight wasn't available and actually I had to pay 200 extra pounds. I said no and they cancelled the flight. They informed me that the $700 I had paid would be back in my bank account within 72 hours. It has now been two weeks and no sign of my money. They are simply holding my money, which is utterly criminal and despicable. I have filed complaint with ABTA but doubt they will do much. Small claims court is my next step.

Littler India: why Britain’s south Asian garment stores are struggling

They have been resilient amid wider high street decline – but units are now emptying in areas such as Southall, west London

The south Asian high street is facing a fight for its future in Britain as customers scale back wedding celebrations because of the cost of living crisis and young people’s changing preferences.

Businesses in London and Manchester have said they have witnessed a huge decline in customers after the pandemic with the cost of living crisis prompting many to decide against the traditional big south Asian wedding and to seek out cheaper products online.

Ankush Puri opened his south Asian clothing store in the west London district of Southall, nicknamed “Little India”, in 1993. He had moved to the UK from India five years prior and was among several other budding entrepreneurs with their sights on the growing south Asian retail market in the UK.

“Things have changed completely since 1995. In 2024, things are completely different, people are selling online, they’re selling for low prices and shopkeepers have got expenses … the rents and rates are higher but your profits are low and you can’t cope,” he said.

The decline of Britain’s high street has been well documented in recent years, owing to online shopping, rising inflation and lack of investment.

Yet the south Asian retail market has remained extraordinarily resilient, meeting the needs and desires of the country’s growing south Asian population, and offering customers garments, such as saris, lehenga cholis and salwar kameezes, that would otherwise be impossible to find on a typical British high street.

Puri, like many other business owners, has attempted to adapt by launching an online business, DesiSarees.com, and shifting from selling women’s garments to men’s. But, almost 30 years on from opening his store, Puri said he is still struggling to turn a good profit.

“I feel upset about it, actually, because we all work hard. Everyone works seven days a week and we should get some kind of good response business-wise, which we are not getting. That’s why it makes you upset” he said.

Some business owners are more optimistic. Bob Balu, chair of the Soho Road Business Improvement District (BID), said the high street in Birmingham has remained “constantly busy”.

Balu said the BID has invested in campaigns and advertisements across south Asian radio stations and TV channels to encourage more shoppers to the Midlands, marketing Soho Road as a “one stop wedding centre”.

However, he acknowledged that business owners are noticing customers opting for smaller wedding functions after the pandemic – a stark contrast to the typical big south Asian wedding – or not having them at all.

“There’s not one factor that could be said. I think it’s just a build up … weddings are down, kids are not getting married young, they’re getting married in their 30s. There’s so many factors and the cost of living is affecting it,” he said.

“What we’re trying to say is, where there were probably 10 brides, there’s probably five. But we want those five to come here.”

One shop owner, who did not want to be identified, criticised the local council for not doing more to meet the needs of shoppers.

“When I came to Southall, it was quite a booming market. It’d be very hard to find a premises but over these past five years, things have had a major effect … Now, you can find lots of empty shops, you can find lots of empty units.

“The amount of people that come to Southall, they need parking, they need toilets, they need facilities, which, instead of providing more, have been taken away … It seems that the council is not really putting the shoppers first.”

Poonam Millin, whose family set up one of the first south Asian retail stores in Manchester in the 1970s, Alankar Sarees, said she has noticed a “huge decline” in the number of customers entering her store in the past six months.

“The kind of trade we get on a daily basis [has] kind of really cut down. You might get one customer in the morning and one in the evening and then you could be free for the afternoon. Whereas several years ago, we’d have a constant flow of people in the store.”

She added: “I think even the consequences of leaving the European Union which people haven’t realised, which have led to other costs. The cost of shipping our goods in, the rising costs in India, the costs of our electricity, our rent, our rates, have all gone up significantly but yet people’s budgets have tightened.”

A Southall council spokesperson said: “Supporting Southall’s small businesses to thrive and harnessing investment to create well paid jobs is a key priority for Ealing council through our Good for Ealing inward investment programme.

“New public toilets are planned and are likely to be near Southall Broadway at an accessible location.”
