Suri Cruise celebrates her 18th birthday in rainy NYC as estranged dad Tom works in London

S uri Cruise was photographed celebrating her 18th birthday in New York City while her estranged father, Tom Cruise, worked abroad in London.

According to pictures obtained by Page Six, the birthday girl stepped out in the rainy weather with a friend on Thursday. The pals chatted as Suri held a pink umbrella over their heads.

The teen, who is also the daughter of Katie Holmes, wore jeans, a denim jacket over a brown shirt and black shoes. She carried a blue backpack and held what looked like a birthday gift in her hand.

A day before Suri’s big day, her father, Tom, was spotted overseas in London filming a new project.

The “Mission Impossible” star, 61, flashed a wide grin as he arrived at a helipad and piloted a jet.

Tom and his youngest daughter have not had a close relationship over the past years. In fact, a source exclusively told Page Six earlier this month that the movie star has not seen Suri since 2012 (they were last seen together at Disney World that summer).

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the insider told us. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes, who filed for divorce from Tom when Suri was only 6 years old in June 2012, previously told Glamour that she wanted to keep her daughter out of the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

The 45-year-old also revealed in November 2013 court docs that she filed for divorce from Tom “to protect Suri from Scientology ,” a religion that is often referred to as a cult.

While it is believed that Holmes signed several non-disclosure agreements to prevent her from speaking about her marriage to Tom and the Church of Scientology, Suri will be free to discuss the religion and her father now that she is legally an adult.

Though it’s unclear whether the teen will publicly speak about her father, she won’t be joining Scientology anytime soon.

“Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be … she deserves love and sympathy,” former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder told Page Six.

Tom Cruise’s three ex-wives, Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes, probably would have a lot to say about being married to the famously intense mega-star and their time inside his beloved Church of Scientology.

But these women have mostly kept Cruise’s secrets, with experts in the inner workings of Scientology saying that Kidman and Holmes, in particular, probably signed non-disclosure agreements when their marriages to the “Top Gun” actor ended.

But no such agreement probably applies to Cruise’s youngest child, Suri Cruise, from whom he’s long been estranged, Page Six reported . With Suri turning 18 on Thursday, she and her mother Katie Holmes should no longer receive the reported $400,000 a year Cruise paid as part of a divorce settlement. Cruise also agreed to pay Suri’s college and health care costs, Page Six added.

As an adult, Suri Cruise should be free to speak out about her father, his beliefs and their rift, journalist and Scientology expert Tony Ortega told Page Six.

“Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement (when her parents divorced in 2012), but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say,” Ortega said.

Page Six said that representatives for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

It’s possible that Suri may choose to stay silent about her famous father. For one thing, if she gave an interview or published a tell-all about him, she’d probably have to give up the mostly private life she’s been able to enjoy thus far. People credit a protective Holmes with trying to give Suri as normal life as is possible under the circumstances, while raising her in New York City.

“Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” a source told Page Six. “This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Suri’s life, though, started out in a very public way. As Page Six pointed out, she was once “the most famous baby in America” because of the very high-profile way that Cruise conducted his courtship of the “Dawson’s Creek” star, who was 16 years younger that Cruise when they began dating. When news came that Cruise and Holmes had become parents to a baby daughter in April 2006, a global frenzy erupted, with media outlets competing to be the first to publish the little girl’s photos.

At the age of five months, Suri Cruise made her debut on the cover of Vanity Fair, in a glossy photo taken by celebrity photographer Annie Leibovitz.

For the first six years of Suri’s life, Cruise seemed to dote on his youngest daughter and enjoy being seen with her in public. He also is the father of two older children, Isabella, now 31, and Connor Cruise, now 29, whom he adopted with Kidman.

But Suri’s relationship with her father changed after Holmes reportedly “blindsided” him by filing for divorce in 2012. The following year, Cruise gave a deposition in his $50 million court fight against a pair of tabloid magazines and admitted that Holmes filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed, Page Six reported.

There have been questions about whether Holmes and her daughter were declared Scientology “suppressive persons,” or SPs, after the divorce. According to Scientology , SPs are people who have “anti-social” personalities who seek to “upset, continuously undermine, spread bad news about and denigrate betterment activities and groups.” Scientology recommends that members stay away from SPs for their own well-being, but the church’s own website said it is “extremely rare” to label someone an SP.

“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega told Page Six. A regular church member, whose wife and daughter left Scientology, would be encouraged to disconnect from them, but Cruise might have been spared that option because of his “top celebrity” status. “He gets to ignore all this stuff,” Ortega said.

In any case, Holmes secured sole custody of their daughter, while Cruise retained “meaningful” visitation rights, according to The Blast . Yet, public sightings of Cruise with his daughter soon dwindled, with Page Six saying they were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

Even if Suri has lived a mostly private life, paparazzi are known to follow her and her mother Katie Holmes around the streets of Manhattan. Still, as Suri reportedly prepares to head off to college, Holmes revealed in a 2023 interview with Glamour that she has grown up to be “an incredible person.”

For Katie Holmes , "motherhood means everything."

Holmes welcomed her first and only child , daughter Suri Cruise, 18, on April 18, 2006, in Los Angeles with then-husband Tom Cruise . The Dawson's Creek actress and Mission Impossible star first met the year prior and got engaged after a whirlwind two-month courtship , tying the knot with their newborn by their side in Italy in November 2006. After five years of marriage, they split in 2012 .

While Holmes has kept her daughter largely out of the spotlight over the years, she has offered up some insight into her experience as a mother in interviews and shared a handful of throwback photos and sweet tributes to Suri on social media.

"My main goal is to just let her know how much I love her ," the actress told PEOPLE in 2014.

She continued: "Motherhood has taught me to just let go of some things, to relinquish control. There's a playdate you weren't expecting — I've had to learn to ask myself, 'Is this worth it? Is it going to make her smile?' And if it is, then yeah, we're probably gonna do it. Maybe that means dinner at 8 instead of 6, and a snack in between. Fine. On cooking for Suri

Holmes, who rates herself as a "solid 7" when it comes to cheffing it up, discussed her and Suri's routines in the kitchen with PEOPLE in 2016.

"[Suri] has her favorites, like most kids," she added, admitting, "I don't really have any tactics to help [with picky eating]. "She's just so kind and has such a pure heart; she really leads with those two qualities, so I try to do the same," Holmes previously told PEOPLE of her mom.

"She's just so kind and very generous, so I try my best to embody that and pass that on to my own daughter," she added.

On providing Suri with a "stable, innocent childhood"

​Despite her many acting roles, Holmes has said that being a mother is the job she finds the most fulfilling.

"This business is so unstable, and you never really know where you're going to be … My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now," she said in Town & Country's April 2017 issue.

"It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there's nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed," she added.

On the "heartbreaking" process of her watching her daughter grow up

"Every day, kids get a little further away from you. That's a positive thing. They should be becoming more independent, but it's heartbreaking," Holmes said in her interview with Town & Country . In November 2020, Holmes wrote a piece for Vogue Australia's November issue about how the silver lining of the COVID-19 pandemic was spending more quality time with her daughter.

"Hobbies such as sewing, painting and writing became new hallmarks of satisfaction and having had time at home to just be. To listen," she wrote. "To live for a moment in time without the pressure of results and instead appreciate the natural rhythms of mother and daughter was the most precious gift."

While chatting with Variety in March 2023, Holmes revealed that she and Suri watched Dawson's Creek together at the height of the pandemic.

Suri Cruise was once the most famous baby in America.

The arrival of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter on April 18, 2006, sparked a global frenzy for the first glimpse of the A-list infant.

But it wasn’t until five months after her birth that she made her debut — on the cover of Vanity Fair, wrapped in the arms of her doting parents, in glossy photos taken by photographer to the stars, Annie Leibovitz.

Now she turns 18 on Thursday and faces a choice: Whether to return to the level of fame she had as a kid — when there were blogs devoted to her fashion — or maintain the carefully-guarded life Holmes has built for her since she blindsided Cruise by filing for divorce.

The dark-haired teen has grown up in Manhattan largely shielded from the spotlight by her loving and highly protective mom, 45, far removed from her 60-year-old father’s Church of Scientology.

As Page Six revealed last year, Suri is estranged from her famous father and the pair have no relationship.

An industry source told us this week that the “Mission: Impossible” star has not seen Suri since 2012. “Katie has safeguarded Suri and she’s a devoted mom,” the source said.

“This is a girl who is a private citizen. She hasn’t lived her life in public.”

Holmes told Glamour magazine in 2023 that she likes to “protect” Suri from the public eye “because she was so visible at a young age.”

“I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person. She’s my heart,” she added.

Being the only daughter of a protective single parent is a stark contrast to how Suri’s life began, of course.

“My whole life I always wanted to be a father,” Cruise gushed to VF back in 2006.

“I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.

“I’m not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There’s just no way.”

He already had two adopted children, Bella, now 31, and Connor, now 29, from his marriage to Nicole Kidman and after her Vanity Fair debut was happy to parade Suri for the paparazzi.

Cruise had famously declared their romance by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey’s couch in May 2005, yelling “I’m in love!” 

But when Suri was just 6, Holmes filed for divorce after six years of marriage with the help of her dad, Martin Holmes, a fierce attorney, and through a secret plan that entailed using burner phones.

Cruise was taken completely by surprise by the filing while he was on the set of “Oblivion” in Iceland in June 2012.

He and Suri were last seen together at Disney World in the summer of 2012.

In November 2013, during a deposition in his $50 million court battle against a pair of tabloid magazines, the “Top Gun” star admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce “to protect Suri from Scientology,” court documents revealed.

Despite not having a relationship; as per their divorce agreement, Cruise, who has an estimated $600 million fortune, agreed to pay Holmes $400,000 a year until Suri turns 18 as well as future “medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs”.

Scientology lies at the heart of the question over Suri’s future.

Holmes, who rose to fame in the TV hit, “Dawson’s Creek,” is believed to have signed multiple non-disclosure documents that will prevent her from ever talking about her marriage to Cruise — and her time inside Scientology.

But when Suri turns 18, NY state declares that she is at the age of majority, when an individual is legally considered an adult.

That would allow her to speak about her father, his beliefs and their rift.

Tony Ortega, who has covered Scientology in depth for decades, told Page Six, “Suri would have been too young to sign any agreement, but she will now be free to talk if she wants to and it’s going to be really interesting if she has something to say.”

We have reached out to reps for Cruise, Holmes and the Church of Scientology. 

“Part of why Katie left when she did when Suri was 6 was that Katie would have seen Isabella and Connor going through Scientology,” said Ortega.

Cruise is of course Scientology’s most famous follower and seen as one of its most powerful figures, possibly second only to its leader, David Miscavige.

That power has led Ortega and former Scientologists to question what action Miscavige and other top Scientologists may have taken against Holmes and her daughter.

Regular members who quit are declared “suppressive persons (SP)” and those who stay in Scientology are told to completely cut them off.

“We don’t know for sure if Katie was ever declared an SP,” Ortega said.

“If you are a regular church member you could be told to disconnect from your wife and daughter, but because Tom is a celebrity — he’s  the top celebrity — he gets to ignore all this stuff.

“Your average member would be kicked out, but David Miscavige can’t do that with Tom.”

Both Mike Rinder and Jeff Augustine, two high-profile former Scientologists, agreed with this claim.

Augustine is married to Karen de la Carriere, who was one of the highest-ranking church leaders until she left in 2010 and told Page Six, “The situation with Suri is a larger story about Scientology and the subject of how they make people no longer useful to them or threats to them non-persons.

“It’s like they cease to exist and that’s what happened to Suri.”

Back in August 2020, Leah Remini — one of the most famous celebrities to leave and speak out against Scientology — told us that she believed Cruise, who now lives mainly in the UK , was waiting until Suri is older so he could indoctrinate her into Scientology.

Remini, who attended Cruise and Holmes’ November 2006 Italian wedding at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle, said, “I’m sure his master plan is to wait until Suri gets older so that he can lure her into Scientology and away from her mother.”

Suri has tiptoed very gently into her parents’ showbusiness world while attending her exclusive Manhattan day school, singing “Blue Moon” in the opening credits of Holmes’ 2022 movie, “Alone Together.”

“I always want the highest level of talent,” Holmes said. “So I asked her! She’s very, very talented. She said she would do it and she recorded it, and I let her do her thing.”

Suri also sang in the film “Rare Objects,” which Holmes also directed.

Holmes will this year return to Broadway in a revival of Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town”.

She has not remarried but had a six-year romance with actor Jamie Foxx which she kept under the radar before their split in August 2019 and went on to have a brief fling with  Nolita restaurateur Emilio Vitolo Jr. in 2021.

Holmes is careful not to speak out too much about her daughter, who is now preparing for college, once saying, “She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.”

But she is now getting ready for her daughter to leave the nest.

“You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go,” she told Town & Country in 2017.

“And that’s going to be very, very sad for me.”

As for the future, former Scientology spokesperson Mike Rinder, who has not seen his own two eldest children since he quit the organization, told Page Six, “Suri is not a Scientologist and never will be…she deserves love and sympathy.”

However, it was also revealed that 'Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade.'

Not only that but he does not feature in her life whatsoever. They spoke of how 'Suri does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life.'

It is believed that Katie decided to divorce the Hollywood actor after she felt his involvement in Scientology was having too much of an influence on their lives. This was something she did not want for Suri.

While Tom may not be present in Suri's everyday life, he has kept his promise to provide for his daughter financially until she turns 18.

During the divorce, he agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a month. Not only that but he also pays for side expenses when it comes to his daughter's medical, dental, insurance, college fees and anything extracurricular.

She was spotted out and about in the Big Apple on Wednesday, clutching a charming bouquet of pink carnation flowers. Sporting an all-denim look, Suri appeared to be gearing up for her big birthday celebrations, miles away from her father Tom Cruise .

New pictures from this afternoon show Suri enjoying her 18th celebrations, walking with a friend as she carried bags of gifts. She stepped out in the rain in downtown Manhattan, beaming as she didn't appear to let the wet weather dampen her celebrations.

The youngster is thought to be spending her big day with mum Katie Holmes at their stateside home. She's lived a separate life away from her dad for more than a decade – even so, he appears to be busy filming in London.

Tom's shooting scenes for the upcoming Mission Impossible movie and was snapped only yesterday recording an action-packed moment involving a helicopter. It doesn't look likely that he'll fly out to America to join his daughter's milestone birthday.

It comes after recent reports that Tom has "nothing" to do with Suri's life entirely. Katie and Tom's daughter is thought to have already been applying to colleges but without the help of her dad due to their lack of relationship. Suri has been thinking about her future which could include going to a fashion college in New York.

Katie is thought to be heavily involved in the application process as she helps her daughter to take the next step in her life. "Suri does not know her father anymore and she has not spent time with him in a decade. She does not go to see his movies and he has no part in her life," a source told MailOnline.

Despite this, Tom will pay his daughter's tuition costs per his divorce agreement. According to their divorce documents, Tom agreed to pay Katie $400,000 a month until Suri turned 18 years old. Tom also agreed to pay all of Suri's expenses, including "medical, dental, insurance, education, college and other extracurricular costs".

It's possible that Suri could go on to study fashion in New York and is apparently "leaning towards" studying at Fordham University. "Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective," the insider shared.

Katie reportedly 'shielded' their 17-year-old's life from the spotlight, as well as her ex-husband's beliefs. The two tied the knot in Italy back in 2006 in a Scientologist ceremony, but as the years went on, Katie began feeling 'intimidated' by the church.

According to reports, Katie didn't want to raise Suri as a Scientologist after seeing Tom's first wife Nicole Kidman "become distant" with their kids, per MailOnline in 2016. Katie fumed when members of the Church of Scientology moved into the ex-couple's home.

Ron Miscavige, the father of Scientology leader David, told the outlet there is a "toxic" policy of "disconnection" operating within the church. Speaking to MailOnline five years before he died in 2016, he said: "That didn't sit so well with Katie."

Over the years, Katie has rarely spoken of her daughter, who she shares with her former husband, Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise .

However, back in 2015 when Suri was nine, the Dawson's Creek actress opened up about her relationship with Suri, explaining how her daughter is "generous and sensitive", and even revealed a parenting rule she had at home.

"My little one is very, very generous and very sensitive," Katie said on the Today Show .

"So, she’s always [saying], ‘Mom, let’s give my old toys to people who need it.’ So we are always doing that. I don't over-gift. I don't inundate my child with a lot of things."

How sweet that Suri liked to donate her toys to those less fortunate than her. It's also so impressive how Katie kept her daughter grounded, and despite their wealth, chose not to spoil Suri with a plethora of lavish gifts.

In 2022, Katie gave another rare snippet into her relationship with Suri, telling InStyle: "I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 per cent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it." 

Suri is set to go to college at the end of the summer. It is thought she has been considering colleges in NYC, meaning that she will still be able to see her mother regularly.

US report: ‘Tom Cruise is not Suri’s real dad’

A US publication has today sensationally claimed that Katie Holmes has revealed to her 13-year-old daughter Suri Cruise that superstar Tom Cruise is not her ‘real father’. The report comes after claims Tom's ex-wife Nicole was recently banned from a family ceremony -  WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW .

The legendary actor and his ex-wife have yet to publicly respond to the outrageous report.

‘She sat Suri down and tearfully confirmed what everyone has known – but not acknowledged – for a long time now, that Tom Cruise will never be a real father to her,’ a source told Star .

The 59-year-old actor and his daughter were last seen together in 2013. However, a Church spokesperson refuted all of Domingo's claims, calling them "fiction." “Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to. He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist.” a spokesperson said.

Tom Cruise 'Does Not Exist' To Daughter Suri As She Turns 18: 'She Doesn't Want To Rely On Him'

Suri Cruise reportedly celebrated her eighteenth birthday today, while she remains estranged from her father, Hollywood star Tom Cruise , due to his Scientology ties.

However, Suri's bond with her mother, actress Katie Holmes , remains strong as they navigate life in New York. According to reports, Cruise, who is currently filming "Mission Impossible 8," no longer "exists" to his daughter, who "does not want to rely on him" for anything.

Suri Cruise Turns 18 As She Remains Estranged From Her Father, Tom Cruise

The relationship strain between the father-daughter duo was reportedly caused by his devotion to the Church of Scientology, and now sources close to Suri have revealed that as she navigates her path into adulthood and considers her future career, one thing remains clear: her father, Cruise, "does not exist to her."

Although Suri has been estranged from her father for 12 years, her 18th birthday symbolizes the formal termination of legal ties with the actor, including his obligation to pay child support, reportedly totaling $400,000 annually.

However, financial incentives won't sway Suri to reconnect with her father, and sources who spoke to DailyMail affirmed that she remains steadfast in her decision.

A source noted, "Suri will not have any contact with her father, despite being 18, and even if he called, she would not answer. He does not exist to Katie or Suri, and his daughter does not want to rely on him for anything."

"She feels that she has one parent, and that is her mother," they added.

Suri Cruise Plans To Remain A 'Private Citizen'

Suri's strong bond with her mother is evident; they are inseparable. Holmes and her daughter are frequently seen together in New York, radiating joy as a mother-daughter duo.

While Suri shares many traits with her mother, such as a love for fashion, creativity, and striking looks, she reportedly has no intention of pursuing an acting career like Holmes or Cruise.

Insiders also suggested that although the 18-year-old hasn't finalized her plans, she seems committed to avoiding the traditional Hollywood path and prioritizes maintaining privacy, given her celebrity background.

A source revealed, "Suri's currently weighing up her options for the future. But she plans on remaining a private citizen."

Additionally, while fashion piques her interest, insiders shared that Suri leans toward studying it at college, particularly in New York City, to stay close to her mother.

Tom Cruise Once Said He Will Always Be There For His Children And 'Love Them'

Cruise's estrangement from his daughter is a sad ending to what began as a fairytale back in 2006 when the "Top Gun" actor confessed to Vanity Fair that he "always wanted to be a father."

"I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I'd never make a promise to my kids that I couldn't keep," the movie star said at the time.

He added, "I'm not one of those people who believe you can spoil a child with too much love. You can never give a child too much love. There's just no way."

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes' Marriage

A year before Suri's birth in 2006, Cruise proclaimed his love for Holmes by jumping up and down on Oprah Winfrey's couch while on her talk show, "The Oprah Winfrey Show" in 2005.

Months later, the love birds exchanged vows in a grand ceremony, gracing the pages of Hello! magazine as Hollywood's newest power couple.

However, the glamor of their marriage soon faded, culminating in Homes filing for divorce just five and a half years later, a decision which reportedly caught Cruise off guard.

Suri, then a mere six years old, found herself thrust into the spotlight amid speculation surrounding her parents' split and Tom's affiliation with Scientology.

Following Cruise and Holmes' divorce, the actress was granted sole custody of their daughter, shielding her from the controversies of Scientology, while Cruise retained visitation rights.

However, despite his visitation rights, Cruise's sightings with Suri dwindled over the years, with reports of prolonged absences of more than 100 days throughout the year.

During a legal deposition against tabloid magazines in November 2013, Cruise reportedly admitted that Holmes had filed for divorce "to protect Suri from Scientology."

It is yet to be seen if the actor will make any attempts to reunite with his now-adult daughter.

The Wild Rumor That Swirled About Suri Cruise Thanks To A Biography About Dad Tom

Suri Cruise is the only daughter of Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise (the "Top Gun" actor also has two kids with ex-wife, Nicole Kidman). Born in 2006, Suri instantly became one of the most talked about celebrity babies of all time, paving the way for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, Shiloh Jolie-Pitt, who was born a few weeks later. Given the interest in Suri, it's no surprise that she's been a hot topic for tabloid fodder and, of course, the rumor mill churned out plenty of material about her — and her parents. One of those rumors went viral after biographer Andrew Morton made a bold claim about the youngster in his book, "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography." 

On the inside pages of his book, which was released on January 15, 2008, Morton wrote that Tom wasn't actually Suri's real father and that Katie was artificially inseminated, according to the New York Post . Morton claimed that Suri's real father is Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, who died after suffering a stroke in 1986, per The New York Times . Understandably so, the biography had people talking, and Tom's lawyer felt the need to set the record straight. And he didn't hold back when addressing the bizarre rumor.

Tom Cruise's camp called the rumor a 'grotesque lie'

A lawyer for Tom Cruise was quick to call out the claim made by Andrew Morton. "It's a grotesque lie. I know she's Tom's child. ... DNA could prove whose child it is. It could come to that," attorney Bert Fields said (via ABC News ). Meanwhile, Church of Scientology chief counsel Elliot Abelson also spoke out, telling the New York Post that Morton's claim was "just the lowest of the low." But when Morton was questioned about his bold suggestion, he explained that he was simply pointing out what was in the realm of possibilities. "What I write is that the idea is absurd. But it's entirely plausible within the sect. ... It's in keeping with the hysteria within Scientology that greeted the pregnancy," he said, according to ABC News.

Suri Cruise's parents split in 2012, five years after they tied the knot. "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest," an attorney for Holmes told People magazine at the time. Although neither Tom nor Katie have spoken about their divorce at length, years later, Tom admitted that Scientology played a role, according to ABC News . In the years that followed, Tom's relationship with his youngest daughter dwindled, and it's believed that he is still estranged from Suri.

Tom Cruise reportedly hasn't seen Suri Cruise in 10 years

As the years have passed by, it has become more and more obvious that Tom Cruise doesn't play a role in Suri's life at all. Primarily raised by her mother, Suri had little-to-no relationship with her father after her parents' divorce. "Every person is allowed to see their child if they wanted to. He chooses not to because she is not a Scientologist," a source told Us Weekly in October 2018. 

Flash forward to 2023, and Suri appears to be living her best life in New York City with Katie Holmes — and she is preparing to head to college in the next year or so. "Suri is applying to schools all over the place. [Katie] really does want her to stay in New York so they can be close to each other. Katie takes great pride in her but is also extremely overprotective," a source told the Daily Mail in March. The outlet reiterated that Tom hasn't been involved in Suri's life since 2013.
