Beauty and skincare products like shampoo, moisturizer, and face wash are essential on every packing list , whether you're heading to a hotel or are staying with friends or family. Since buying miniature versions of your favorite products can be expensive—and typically means purchasing a whole lot of single-use plastics—having practical and reliable toiletry travel bottles you can pull out for every trip is a must.

To make sure the reusable bottles we're throwing in our Dopp kit are easy to use and don't leak, we tested out a variety of affordable travel sets to see which ones actually get the job done. Below, you'll find 13 of the best travel toiletry bottles that will protect the contents of your luggage—and all of the creams, soaps, and serums you've shelled out for—and keep you organized on the go. Even better, all of these picks are TSA-friendly in size, so you don't have to worry about any of your favorite products being thrown out at the airport. As an added bonus, many of these travel bottles are available on Amazon Prime, so you can get your hands on them quickly before a last-minute getaway.

How we tested

I scoured the internet to find the most popular travel toiletry bottles—searching a variety of retailers, reading hundreds of reviews, and considering online ratings. After my initial research, I put many reusable toiletry bottles to the test, trying out dozens of options that range in price, size, and design. I've had some of these toiletry bottles for over a year and they've accompanied me on a mix of weeklong vacations in checked luggage and short weekend trips in tightly-packed duffel bags .

Over the last several months, I tested another batch of options: I've filled them with a variety of skincare, hair care, and body products—thick body wash, contact solution, and leave-in conditioner included. I've even left these filled containers upside down overnight to see if there were any unexpected leaks. My findings: There are many great options on the market to choose from and you don't need to break the bank to find the perfect set for you. Below, the best travel toiletry bottles to pack wherever you're headed next .

travel container for face oil

No matter how organized I try to stay, my bathroom counter at every hotel always becomes cluttered with my many toiletries and hair products . The LiquiSnugs look like your classic silicone travel bottles, but they feature a clever suction cup on the back that allows you to stick them onto any shower wall—freeing up limited counter space. These are great for in-shower products like shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. This set of four bottles features two 3-ounce bottles and two 2-ounce bottles, so you can choose how much product you need depending on the length of your trip. Another smart design feature: Twist the top to adjust the label name so you won't forget what's inside. I've had these for about a year now and I consistently reach for these to pack shampoo and conditioner.

Pros : The unique suction cup design makes them great for shower products.

Cons : These occasionally will fall off shower walls if there's not a little bit of water to keep them in place.

travel container for face oil

This Amazon bestseller is versatile enough for every type of traveler. The 18-pack from Tocelffe features four silicone bottles of varying size (two 3-ounce bottles and two 2-ounce bottles), four small jars for creams and serums, two spray bottles, two spatulas, a funnel, labels, and a cleaning brush. These all come in a waterproof toiletry bag that you can reuse to carry makeup or tech essentials. In this set, I find myself mostly reaching for the ultra-soft silicone bottles, which are great for products like body wash, face cleanser, and micellar water. Each of these bottles feature three-layer leak-proof tops so you don't have to worry about spills in your bag. Something I love about these bottles is how they can be bent and squeezed easily to get every last bit of product out of them.

Pros: Very affordable, comes in a clear toiletry case, and the bottles' wide opening makes it easy to refill. Cons: The small plastic jars are not as reliable as the silicone bottles in this set.

If you're just looking for a few affordable no-frills travel bottles, these are for you. Available in a variety of colors, the silicone bottles do just what they say they will. They're leakproof, come in a set of four, and are easy to refill and clean. While there’s no bells and whistles, these three-ounce bottles pleasantly surprised me with just how much product they fit compared to some of the other classic silicone bottles we tested, making them an ideal option for a longer vacation. Plus, these have an average of 4.5 stars on Amazon with over 11,000 global reviews.

Pros: Versatility; available in many colorways

Cons : This set doesn't come with labels or a proper toiletry case.

Another solid choice for travelers is this set of four 3-ounce silicone travel bottles. These are squeezable, leakproof, and versatile enough to use for everything from shower products and soaps to sauces and baby food. These reusable bottles are all the same size and each a different color so you can differentiate them. Bonus: This set comes in a transparent toiletry case to keep them all organized in.

Pros : This set is available in a dozen colorways; wide opening makes them easy to refill without needing a funnel. Cons : This set doesn't come with labels.

If you prefer to bring along a bar of soap instead of using what's provided at the hotel, this compact soap box is a great travel companion. Inside, there's a soap mat that absorbs any excess water and prevents the soap from becoming mushy. I've used other plastic soap cases before without a mat and it always leaves a mess. This one features a silicone band that wraps tightly around the box for extra protection, and is about the size of a deck of cards.

Pros : Fits most commonly used soap brands, affordable, and features a simple-to-use design.

Cons : The soap box needs the band to stay secure so be careful not to lose it.

I've been a fan of Cadence's capsules for a few years now. These leakproof, airtight, and watertight magnetic capsules are unlike any other travel bottles I've used and are a true game changer when it comes to packing your own beauty products. The individual capsules magnetically snap together to take up as little space as possible in your Dopp kit and are designed without any right angles or edges, so you get every last bit of product available.

The original .56-ounce individual capsules are great for weekend trips and storing small items like daily vitamins and safety pins. The Capsule Flex System allows you to customize your own bundle with your choice of small , medium , and large sizes, as well as The Extender —an add-on that allows you to increase the size of the bottle when you need more room. This makes it so easy to customize your travel routine, whether you want to pack extra product for longer trips or bring enough body wash for you and your travel buddy. With The Flex System, you can still choose your own label for each capsule (the labels are interchangeable), as well as the color and number of capsules in your bundle.

Pros : It's easy to get every last drop of product inside each capsule and they are so easy to rinse out and reuse. The custom labels can be swapped out depending on what you're packing.

Cons : These are the most expensive option on our list.

I was eager to test out the Ries travel bottles after hearing a lot of buzz about the product and seeing them make their way into retailers like Sephora and Goop. These are a more elevated, aesthetically pleasing take on the classic reusable travel bottles you may have used in the past. Ries prioritized sustainability and design with these essentials: Each bottle is made from recycled plastic and features a large opening at the top, which makes it easy to refill and clean (not to mention, they're dishwasher safe). Travelers can purchases these bottles individually (a 3.4-ounce bottle or a 1.7-ounce bottle) or in a set with both sizes . My favorite thing about these bottles is the airless pump—I feel so glamorous while doing my nighttime skincare routine with these, and it makes it easier to use products like face wash or cleanser on the road. The bottles are pre-labeled (shampoo, conditioner, body, face) and you can twist the top to the side to conceal the opening, so product won't spill out.

Pros : Sustainably made; if you prefer a pump, these are for you.

Cons : On the pricier side; the bottles are a bit bulky and take up a little more room in my makeup bag than most travel-size products I use.

Finally, a solution to my contact lens woes. I can't count the number of times I've stopped into a drugstore to buy a mini bottle of contact lens solution before heading out on a trip, or to pick up rewetting drops because I'm dealing with dry contacts while away from home. This compact case makes cleaning and caring for contacts on the go much easier—it comes with an easy-to-fill reusable dropper that gives me a long weekend's worth of solution, a contact case, and has a mirror to help get them in and out. (I don't like to fly in contacts, so this is particularly handy if I forget to switch to my glasses before leaving home.) It weighs next to nothing, and will fit in all but my smallest handbags, so I've been keeping it on me regularly, not just when traveling. — Madison Flager, senior commerce editor

Pros : It comes with a tiny pair of tweezers to make removing contacts from the case less messy. Cons : The contact solution holder isn't large enough for weeklong trips.

travel container for face oil

I admit I've also been guilty of buying mini versions of my favorite contact solution. As much as I love reusable toiletry bottles for my skincare and hair products, I've never had anything that felt right for the consistency of my contact solution. I wear daily lenses, meaning I don't need a whole lot of solution with me when I travel, so it is a little frustrating to carry around a bottle that takes up precious space in my Dopp kit. Lately, I've been carrying about the Cauyuan eye glass case which comes with a super small dropper for contact solution. This refillable dropper holds just enough contact solution for weekend trips and shorter vacations and takes up such little space (I've even found myself tossing it in my handbag in case my eyes get a little dry.) This durable case keeps all of my eye care essentials together and protected, with a separate compartment for eye glasses, and another that holds the dropper, tweezers, a contact case, and a mirror.

Pros : All of my eyewear essentials are now in once place and stay organized; the dropper is small enough to fit in a tiny purse. Cons : The compartment for your eye glasses is on the small size—if you have thick or bulky frames, they might not fit.

travel container for face oil

I've never found a reusable spray bottle for my perfume that I've liked, so I've always relied on buying miniature versions of each of my favorite fragrances. But let's be real—those travel-size perfume bottles are expensive! They're often made of glass, too, making them vulnerable to breaking in your luggage. Enter the Vonovo mini refillable perfume bottles: Each of these holds 0.2 ounces of your favorite scent, more than enough for a long vacation. This set comes with five spray bottles, so you can bring along any of your favorites—or all of them. And they are so easy to use—simply pull off the top of your full-size perfume, press the bottom of the mini bottle on top of it, and keep clicking until its refilled. Each of the bottles have a clear vial inside so you can see how much product you have left. My favorite part: These are so tiny—think the size of a lipstick— meaning I can even bring them with me on a date night when I'm only carrying a small purse .

Pros : Easy to refill and compact enough to fit in even the tiniest of travel bags Cons : These spray bottles wont match the look of your full-size perfume and don't have labels, so you'll have to remember based on the color of the mini bottle you choose. Also, these can be refilled with the same perfume, but I wouldn't recommend reusing them with another scent.

travel container for face oil

For those with a more rigid skincare or haircare routine, this 16-pack lets you bring along every last product you want—and it all fits into one reusable case. The set comes with four silicone bottles, four jars, two spray bottles, two scoopers, a funnel, and a cleaning brush. The variety means you can pack everything from soap and shampoo to serums and sprays in here, and the cleaning brush makes the bottles easy to clean and re-use. I like this set best for packing my more expensive skincare serums and creams in the small jars that have a scooper to use.

Pros : A variety of types of containers

Cons : The toiletry case the bottles come in isn't the best quality.

The Kitsch Ultimate travel set includes leakproof holders that are compact and lightweight enough to pack in a purse or tote bag . In addition to three flat pouches, this set also comes with two pump bottles, two mini jars, one mini funnel, one mini spatula, and one mini pipette. This set is best for a longer trip—say, a European vacation or a cross-country road trip —as you can store a lot more shampoo, conditioner, and lotions in the pouches without going over any TSA limits (plus, they'll get lighter as you use them).

Pros : The flat pouches are easy to pack and take up less room in a Dopp kit than bulkier bottles.

Cons : The pouches are a little bit harder to refill than bottles with a wide opening.

If you're packing toiletries for your entire family , this 21-pack of travel bottles has you covered. This package comes with four silicone bottles, four cream jars, four toothbrush covers, two spray bottles, two pump bottles, two trowels, a funnel, and labels to keep everything straight. Whether it's a trip to Disney World or multi-generational cruise , this set makes packing for the whole family easy.

Pros : These come with toothbrush covers–a nice travel accessory that none of the other options on our list offers.

Cons : Not ideal for weekend trips or light packers.

TripSavvy / Leticia Almeida

There’s nothing worse than arriving excitedly at your destination to find that your toiletries have spilled all over your suitcase. Or to be the person who holds up the line at security while the TSA agents discard your oversized liquids. Both of these scenarios are easily avoided by investing in a set of appropriately sized, 100 percent leakproof travel toiletry bottles. There are lots of options out there in terms of bottle quantity, size, and design, with the right one for you depending on factors such as how long you’ll be traveling and the complexity of your beauty routine.

To help you narrow down the choices, our team of travel experts put 14 toiletry bottle sets to the test. Each one was scored for ease of use, quality, design, performance, and value, with average scores used to determine the winners of categories ranging from “best budget” to “most durable.”

Why Trust TripSavvy

Best overall, liquisnugs premium leak-proof silicone travel bottles.

  • Ease of Use 5 /5
  • Quality 5 /5
  • Design 5 /5
  • Performance 5 /5

Very secure, with no leaks during testing

Stick to vertical surfaces

Easy to stay organized

Lack of variety

The LiquiSnugs Premium Silicone Travel Bottles offer flawless performance at a price so reasonable our tester was shocked by it. The set includes two 2-ounce bottles and two 3-ounce bottles, both of which adhere to TSA carry-on regulations. We liked the flexibility afforded by the two different sizes since there are always products we need more and less of on vacation. We were able to easily fit all four in a quart-sized Ziploc bag simultaneously without placing pressure on any of them. All bottles are made of flexible, food-grade, BPA-free silicone, making them easy to pack and dispense.

With a dripless valve and bottleneck design, the bottles are advertised as 100 percent leakproof—a claim we can support, with no spillages even after being dropped and thrown around repeatedly during testing. We liked that the bottles’ wide mouths made them simple to fill, empty, and clean as needed. Other highlights include the suction pad on the back of each bottle (great for attaching them to the bathroom wall) and the changeable labels. Options for the latter include shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, soap, and lotion, enabling you to switch up the uses on each trip.

Best Budget

Vitog travel bottles kit.

  • Ease of Use 4 /5
  • Performance 4.5 /5

Multiple dispensing methods

Comes with several functional extras

Good value for money

Capacity could be larger

Retailing for half the price of our already affordable overall winner, the Vitog Travel Bottles Kit is a no-brainer for budget-conscious buyers. It includes six 1.4-ounce bottles and two 0.4-ounce bottles. The larger ones consist of two pump bottles with a removable clip to prevent accidental deployment, two spray bottles, and two flip-cap bottles. The smaller ones are miniature cream jars. All eight are made from clear PET plastic, which we found durable yet lightweight enough for travel. We also liked that we could easily see how much product was left.

We appreciated the thoughtful inclusion of a pipette, a funnel, and a spatula to help with decanting products from their original containers. They made the bottles relatively easy to fill, although we did experience some spillage when decanting thick body lotion. Nevertheless, there was no leaking or visible wear and tear after our intensive testing process. The set also includes a sheet of labels and a clear plastic toiletry bag. The only real drawback? None of the bottles are particularly big, making this option suitable for short trips only.

Cadence The Originals Set

  • Design 4.5 /5
  • Performance 4 /5

Unique design

Performed well throughout testing

Customizable

More of an investment than others

Limited capacity

The Originals from Cadence are small, hexagonal capsules with screw-top lids that connect magnetically together in any shape or configuration you like. Aesthetics are at the forefront of this brand, as you can choose different colors for each capsule as well as printed, switchable, magnetic labels. In fact, they look so cute that you could even buy toiletries in bulk and decant them into these capsules for use at home. Sustainable practices like these are reinforced by the fact that the capsules are made from 20 percent recycled ocean-bound plastic.

We love that the capsules’ wide mouths and rounded interiors make them effortless to fill, use, and clean. They’re also 100 percent leakproof, waterproof, and airtight, as proven by our testing process. We found them incredibly durable and can’t imagine a scenario that would result in them being punctured or crushed. They are small (each one carries just 0.56 ounces), which could be a drawback. However, a capacity calculator on the brand website suggests you can carry approximately a week’s worth of products, depending on how regularly you use each one.

Number of Bottles: 6 | Sizes: (6) 0.6-ounce | Materials: Hard plastic

Most Durable

Mrsdry travel bottles.

  • Ease of Use 3.5 /5
  • Design 4 /5

Soft yet rugged silicone construction

Effective leakproofing

User friendly

No diversity in size or design

If your primary concern when packing liquids in your hand luggage is leaking, you’ll love the Mrsdry Travel Bottles Set. It consists of four 3-ounce bottles, each made of thick silicone that feels ultra-durable, and they stood up perfectly to our squeeze and drop tests. We were particularly impressed with the bottles’ no-drip valves, which successfully prevented leaks. All four bottles use the same shape and dispensing method—a pro for those who want lots of capacity for fewer products, and a drawback for those with a more complex personal care routine.

Having said that, we did feel that this set is so reasonably priced, there’s nothing to stop you from buying multiple sets if you have more products to pack. Instead of labels, the bottles come in four separate shades to distinguish between them. We also liked that their wide opening makes them easy to fill, even with thicker liquids and gels. And when it comes to cleaning them, the bendable silicone easily accommodates a bottle brush. All colorways include a transparent carry case.

Number of Bottles: 4 | Sizes: (4) 3-ounce | Materials: Silicone

Best Variety

Morfone 16 pack travel bottles.

  • Ease of Use 4.5 /5
  • Quality 4.5 /5

Good array of containers

Burly silicone handles rough treatment

Jar lids are weaker than expected

Multicolored style may not suit everyone

The Morfone Travel Bottles Set caters to travelers with an extensive beauty routine. With 10 containers in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and dispensing methods, you can take a broad range of products in just the right quantities for your time away. Options are as follows: two 1-ounce spray bottles, two 3-ounce squeeze bottles, two 2-ounce squeeze bottles, two 1-ounce jars, and two 0.3-ounce jars. We were impressed by the capacity of the largest bottles, which we felt could easily hold at least four washes’ worth of shampoo and conditioner.

The bottles are made of durable yet flexible food-grade silicone, with wide mouths for easy filling and cleaning. We appreciated the inclusion of two scoopers, a funnel, and a cleaning brush to help with these tasks, as well as a sheet of labels. Most of the containers held up well to our durability tests with no leaks or spills. The only exception was one of the jars, which suffered a broken lid. The set comes in a transparent carry bag and could fit into a quart-sized Ziploc (a TSA requirement) with some skillful maneuvering, although it was tight.

Number of Bottles: 10 | Sizes: (2) 0.3-ounce, (4) 1-ounce, (2) 2-ounce, (2) 3-ounce | Materials: Silicone

Best for Larger Capacities

Insfit tsa carry-on approved containers.

Great value for money

Well-designed lids

Choice of cute color palettes

Can be finicky with certain products

The INSFIT set is ideal for those who like to keep things simple with only a handful of essential products but also tend to travel for longer and need as much capacity as TSA will allow. It features four identical 3-ounce silicone bottles large enough to hold at least one to two weeks’ worth of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and sunscreen (or similar). The bottles are squeezable, which makes dispensing simple, although we found that thicker lotions and gels were easier to squeeze if the bottle was at least half full.

Other highlights include fully removable caps and wide mouths for mess-free filling and easy cleaning, and three-layered lids that are essentially leakproof. Even during our pressure test, caps remained securely in place, and afterward, the bottles still looked brand new. In fact, we were shocked to find out how affordable this set is given its evident quality. We also liked the stylish, see-through carry bag and the fact that there’s a special place on the caps to stick the included labels so that they adhere properly.

Best for Backpacking

Matador flatpak toiletry bottle.

Ideal for reducing heft and bulk

Thoughtful design elements

Proved durable during our testing

Difficult to fill with thicker consistencies

Made of waterproof 30D Cordura ripstop nylon with proprietary welded construction, the Matador FlatPak Toiletry Bottles are by far the most technical option on this list. With their flat-pack design and sturdy quality, they’re designed especially for adventures and expeditions where saving on space and weight is a priority . With a capacity of 3 ounces each, they’re five times lighter and 3.5 times more compact than standard silicone bottles, and pliable enough to fit into tight spaces: the ultimate backpacking companion.

We found them easy to fill with any liquid that was the consistency of shampoo or thinner. Thicker gels and lotions were tricky since the mouth wasn’t as wide as that of standard travel bottles. Still, any mess is easy to clean off the waterproof exterior. They fit easily into a quart-sized Ziploc, and we love the snap hook for attaching to the outside of your backpack for on-the-go use. The loop also features a spot for writing a description of the contents with a permanent marker. As expected, the packs survived all our tests with zero leaks or signs of damage.

Number of Bottles: 3 | Sizes: (3) 3-ounce | Materials: 30D Cordura ripstop nylon

Our overall favorite was the LiquiSnugs Premium Travel Bottles set. These bottles stood out for their durable, leakproof silicone construction and thoughtful extras including adjustable labels and individual suction pads. For the most budget-friendly option, choose the small yet sturdily versatile Vitog Travel Bottles Kit .

Upon receiving the bottles, our first step was to examine their overall quality and design and note any unique features. Then, we filled at least three of the bottles in the set: one with lotion, one with micellar water, and one with shampoo. For each one, we noted how easy it was to fill without spilling, how easy it was to clean if spillage did occur, and how appropriate each bottle would be for holding different types of liquid. We also tested how easy it was to open the bottle and dispense the product inside.

Next, we compressed the bottles in our palms to mimic pressure. We shook them, rolled them, squeezed them, and threw them to stimulate rough handling in transit, noting how well they withstood this treatment. Our final test was to put all of the bottles from the set into a quart-sized Ziploc bag, and then inside a toiletry bag. Then, we dropped them from waist height three times, always from different angles, to see whether any breakages or leaks occurred and whether the bottles showed any signs of wear and tear.

Each set was scored on a scale of one to five for ease of use, quality, design, performance, and value. Average scores were used to determine our category winners.

Other Travel Toiletry Bottles We Tested

GLOBEGEAR Travel Bottles : This nine-piece set features a solid range of containers and tools made of hard plastic that doesn't feel flimsy. We deducted points for the skimpy capacity of the bottles, which would only last a few days or applications (and made filling the bottles difficult), though the affordable price makes this a good option for the infrequent traveler.

Kitsch Travel Containers : Fans of variety will appreciate the range of products included in this compact kit. It won't set you back much and, accordingly, we feel it also won't last long. We like the idea of the flat containers but found them somewhat difficult to fill.

Cosywell Travel Containers : The Cosywell Containers are all the same shape in 10- and 20-milliliter capacities. We found the plastic and silicone jars easy to fill and well-designed, but they're more suited to thick liquids such as gels and creams.

What to Look For in Travel Toiletry Bottles

Durability is key when choosing travel toiletry bottles since containers that are easily punctured or cracked will result in a mess that’s at best inconvenient and at worst potentially expensive or upsetting depending on how much product is wasted and whether any other items in your carry-on are affected. Look for options made out of sturdy hard plastic or thick, flexible silicone, then check user reviews to get an idea of how the construction holds up under real-life travel conditions. If you’re planning an extreme adventure, technical options like the waterproof flat-pack bottles from Matador may be worth the extra expense.

Leakproofness

A bottle doesn’t have to break for leaks to occur—all it takes is a poorly constructed seal or lid. Look for bottles with a triple-layered leakproof cap and jars with a secure screw top. Pump bottles should come with a removable clip that prevents them from being deployed accidentally. Again, user reviews help check how efficient these measures are (it’s easy for a brand to advertise their product as leakproof, even if it’s not). Some brands, like Cadence, actually guarantee the efficacy of their leakproof design. Just in case, we always recommend storing toiletry bottles in a waterproof bag or Ziploc as a second line of defense.

If you plan on packing your toiletry bottles in your carry-on bag, you must make sure that none of them exceed the TSA-approved limit of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters). Some sets are made up of identical large bottles of around 3 ounces, giving you the maximum allowable capacity for each of your products. However, because all bottles must fit in a single quart-sized Ziploc bag, this limits the number of bottles to around four.

If you have more products to pack, you may prefer a set that divides this capacity between a greater number of smaller bottles and containers—especially if you only require some of your liquids in very small quantities. The length of your trip will also dictate how big you need your bottles to be unless you only plan on using your carry-on liquids as a backup in case the full-size versions in your checked luggage get delayed.

Toiletries can be stored in opaque, translucent, or transparent bottles of any color as long as each individual bottle does not exceed the maximum capacity limit. For carry-on bags, most authorities including TSA set that limit at 3.4 ounces. Liquids can be in their original container or decanted into any container of your choosing (even one that’s labeled incorrectly), as long as these size restrictions are adhered to.

Most airport authorities—including TSA—rule that bottles containing liquids, aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes cannot exceed 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) if you wish to pack them in your carry-on luggage . In addition, all of these bottles must fit inside a quart-sized Ziploc bag and be screened separately from the rest of your luggage at security. Containers that exceed this limit will not be permitted, even if the volume of the product inside is less than 3.4 ounces (for example, if you have a half-used bottle of conditioner). Note that these restrictions do not apply to checked luggage.

Although toiletry bottles don’t have to be labeled from a legal perspective, many people like to do so to ensure they don’t end up brushing their teeth with expensive moisturizer, or vice versa. Some travel bottles come with waterproof stickers, especially for this purpose, and you can also purchase them separately online. This is a better option than writing on a standard office label by hand since toiletry bottles frequently get wet and ink can run and cause staining or become illegible. Alternatively, a permanent marker applied directly to the bottle could be an option if you’re always going to use the same container for the same product.

Beveetio Travel Bottles

travel container for face oil

There are 5 travel makeup bottles, each with a 2.9 oz capacity. Made from soft and flexible silicone, they each have a different color and a wide mouth that makes them easy to fill.

A cross valve controls the flow, so you won’t have to worry about squeezing out too much lotion all in one go!

Along with the soft bottles, you get a 2 oz pump bottle and a 2 oz spray bottle, which is ideal for makeup remover or a quick spritz to freshen up.

Also included are 5 small travel containers for cosmetics, which are perfect for creams. You even get 2 little spatulas to help with dispensing and filling the containers.

The organization is made much easier by the pre-printed ID labels that come with the set, helping you to quickly identify their contents. that said, it’s one of the best travel containers for skin care.

Longway Containers

travel container for face oil

They are perfectly designed to prevent leaks and spills, with tightly fitting screw-on lids. I love the fact that these travel makeup containers also have inner liners – this is a feature you don’t see very often and one that gives an important added layer of protection!

They are durable, so you won’t need to worry about them cracking, yet still lightweight enough to pop in your hand luggage if required.  The set is made up of 9 pots and 9 spatulas.

These little spoons are great for dispensing your creams and lotions and also make refilling the containers a breeze!

The containers are BPA-free, so you can be sure that no harmful chemicals are leaching into your products, and their simple design makes them easy to clean.

BOACAY Travel Bottles

travel container for face oil

These TSA-approved travel cosmetic bottles by BOACAY have a very unique and useful feature. Each one comes with a built-in silicone face scrubber or anti-aging face massager, effectively giving you 2 products in one!

The scrubber also comes in useful as an exfoliator and is great for cleaning your makeup brushes.

Made from high-quality food-grade silicone – a sustainable and safe material – the bottles are designed to be totally leakproof.

Their wide-mouthed design makes it very easy to fill them, then they close and seal tightly, with a leakproof valve giving you added security.

The set comprises one 3 oz bottle with two sides for facial massage, plus two 2 oz bottles, also two-sided for facial cleansing. To help you keep everything neat and tidy, they come with a bag for storage and a sticker sheet.

Labeling your items is not just useful for airport security, but it also makes it easy to find just what you need.

These travel makeup bottles come in four different colors – pink, blue, green, and gray – so it’s easy to match them to your other accessories.

TeeMocom Thin Cans

travel container for face oil

There are 14 tins in the set, all 2 oz in size, and each one is completely rounded, with no sharp edges to catch on clothing or other items.

Easy to store and stack on arrival at your destination, the number of tins makes this set ideal for bringing small quantities of a wide range of cosmetics with you when you’re on the go.

They would be especially useful for things like eyeshadow powders in multiple colors!

The size of each tin makes these travel makeup containers particularly suitable for your hand luggage –  in fact, they are small enough to even carry a few in your purse.

You could label them with stickers to make organization easier – or, for a fun look, why not use a white Sharpie ?

ZMYBCPACK Round Clear Plastic Jars

travel container for face oil

All you need to do is place the liners into the screw-top lids to create an airtight, watertight seal.

This will stop liquids from leaking out and prevent any air from getting in and drying up your cosmetics.

Easy to clean, these recyclable travel-size makeup containers are lightweight for portability but strong enough to store your items without the risk of cracking. An added bonus is that these jars come with labels and a pen.

The pen is totally erasable and wipes off with just a damp tissue, so you can relabel your containers as often as you need. A handy spatula is also included, which can help you dispense your creams and makes it easy to fill the containers.

Henscoqi Travel Bottles

travel container for face oil

The recyclable bottles – under 5 inches high – each have a fine spray top, which can be really useful for dispensing things like a makeup remover.

Another great use would be for hand sanitizer, especially as these bottles are small and slim enough to slip easily into your pocket!

An anti-dust cover clips securely on the top, protecting the nozzle from clogging and ensuring the contents are not accidentally sprayed when packed in your bag.

Made of plastic, these containers are lightweight enough for travel, but they are designed to be durable and resistant to cracks or dents.

Bariho Silico Bottles

travel container for face oil

In other words, pretty much everything you will need for your trip! Approved by the TSA for use in your carry-on luggage, the soft bottles are made from 100% BPA-free food-grade silicone which is incredibly resistant to breakage and sustainable material.

Because they are soft, they are squeezable – just what you need for items like lotions and shampoo!

The attractive purple and white containers all fit neatly into their zip-up PVC travel bag and feature a triple-layered structure and self-sealing valve.

This stops them from leaking and ensures that the rest of your luggage is protected. This set is great value for money as the differently sized containers make it suitable for a wider range of cosmetic products.

Qianying Travel Containers

travel container for face oil

Approved by the TSA for packing in your carry-on luggage, the 6 travel cosmetic bottles included in this set are made of soft, squeezable silicone, each in a different attractive color with a self-colored pattern.

That said, yes – they respect the 100 ml rule.

The bottles are around 4.5 inches high, with a cross return valve that controls the flow of liquid and makes them easy to use.

They also have a triple layer design, which means they seal tightly and won’t leak their contents, whilst the wide-mouth opening makes them easy to clean and refill.

In addition to the bottles, you also get 3 small travel containers for cosmetics like powders or creams, with tightly fitting lids.

Each bottle has a capacity of  2.4 oz (70 ml) whilst the smaller jars hold 20 ml, which should be enough to meet all your makeup storage needs for your trip!

Ammax Travel Bottles

travel container for face oil

There are four bottles in the pack, each with a capacity of 3 oz, and their distinctive oval design prevents liquids from getting stuck in the corners.

The BPA-free silicone doesn’t just look good – it is lovely and soft which means that it’s easy to squeeze and you can get out every drop of liquid.

There is a no-drip cross valve inside the cap which ensures the bottles will not leak and also controls the flow of liquid, so you don’t get out more than you need.

Each travel bottle has a wide mouth opening. This makes them easy to fill, even with thicker liquids like creams, and also means that you can fit a brush inside to clean them properly.

These travel-size cosmetic containers come with a clear zippered toiletry bag which is convenient for packing.

POLUENTAT Travel Bottles

travel container for face oil

This travel skincare container set has loads of handy little items, including 6 soft, silicone bottles in different sizes, 2 spray bottles (ideal for perfume!), 3 small travel pots for creams and skincare products, and 2 toothbrush covers.

But that’s not all – you also get a little ‘trowel’ to help you fill the containers, a funnel for pouring in liquids, a handy brush, and a frosted bag to keep it all in!

This set has a unique and very useful labeling system – you just twist off the lid then use the rotating ring to display a ‘tag’ to help you identify what’s inside.

There are 6 different options to choose from, including ‘lotion’, ‘soap’ and ‘shampoo’.

All bottles are triple-layered for security so you can be confident they won’t leak and their soft, silicone construction makes them durable and resistant to damage.

Final Thoughts On The Best Travel Containers For Creams

Finding the right travel cosmetic containers when you go on a trip is essential.

All these products will help you travel with confidence, knowing that your toiletries are secure, your luggage is well protected and you’ll have all your essential beauty items to hand when needed.

We love Fenty Skin’s The Glow Around 4-piece Travel Skincare Essentials Set.

35 Thousand

Despite all the (obvious) positives, traveling can wreak havoc on your skin. Among the culprits: new climates, indulgent food and drinks , fatigue, drying plane cabin air, and more. For this reason, you’ll want to pack a skincare regimen that counteracts these stressors as well as targets your unique everyday needs regardless of the location.

To help you choose the best travel kit for your next adventure , we researched and rounded up selections that address a variety of circumstances and skin concerns, and fall under the TSA 3-1-1 guidelines . Our overall favorite, Fenty Skin’s The Glow Around 4-piece Travel Skincare Essentials Set, stands out for its consolidated product lineup with multifunctional items, a reasonable price point, and the versatility to be used on nearly any type of skin. But, if you want to target specific concerns or environmental stressors, read on. We’ve culled the best items for a multitude of scenarios.

These are the best travel skincare sets to shop:

Best Overall

Fenty skin the glow around 4-piece travel skincare essentials set.

Multiple products in this vegan kit do double duty, and SPF is included.

If you prefer an even more minimalistic travel skin routine, shop the brand’s three-piece set instead.

We’ve long been traveling with Fenty Beauty products in tow, and this skincare assembly — featuring standouts from Rihanna’s Fenty Skin line — is our number one pick. The vegan set, suited for normal, dry, combination, and oily skin types, includes four miniature skincare products: an antioxidant-packed cleanser, a toner-serum hybrid, a moisturizer with sun protection, and an AHA exfoliator with a reusable applicator. It has just a little more than the bare necessities to help combat travel-induced skin stress, but it’s not excessive either; it’ll all easily fit inside a clear quart-sized bag, and won’t break the bank.

We especially love that multiple products in the kit do double duty. The 1.5-ounce Total Cleans’r face wash easily wipes away dirt, oil, and makeup, eliminating the need to pack a separate makeup-removing product. The lightweight 1-ounce Hydra Vizor moisturizer contains SPF 30 and also works well as a primer. Furthermore, the moisturizer’s pump-style container is extra sanitary for travel (so you’re not transferring any germs from your fingers into a product tub). For those who prefer a more minimal routine, the brand also offers a three-piece version of the travel kit (sans exfoliator), which comes with a trial-sized body cream.

Best Overall, Runner-up

35thousand all the radiance set.

Four full-sized products (1.7 ounces each) including an SPF 30 serum and bamboo washcloth come in a clear zip case.

It’s on the more expensive side for the size.

If you’ve never heard of 35thousand, it’s a skincare line that was made for travel — literally. All of the brand’s products are travel-friendly in terms of size, containers, and the skin concerns they address. The set is more of a splurge, but that’s because each product in this vegan kit was carefully designed to function in place of multiple other products. For example, the makeup-removing cleansing balm can double as a hydration mask when left on skin for 10-20 minutes. Or, try the refreshing and toning mist in place of water (along with the cleanser) if you don’t have access to a sink.

We love that the day serum includes SPF 30 and a subtle tint hint for added glow while on the move, and the hyaluronic acid-rich cream delivers much needed hydration. The best part? The items come housed in a clear zip case (with room for a few more products) and there’s a mini bamboo washcloth which comes in a smaller zip case to keep it separate from the rest of your stash.

Best for Sensitive Skin

Ren clean skincare evercalm skin zen trio.

Natural ingredients like plant oils can help soothe delicate skin.

You may want to consult your dermatologist first if your skin is highly sensitive.

If your skin tends to be fickle, you may want to follow a less-is-more approach to your routine. Enter this three-piece system, which includes only the essentials. The ultra-gentle cleansing milk is the perfect wash for delicate skin, and the kit follows that with a calming cream for daytime and a recovery balm with an intensely nourishing barrier for bedtime. Even if you don’t generally have sensitive skin, travel conditions (such as plane cabins, new climates, and bedsheet fabrics you’re not used to) can cause your skin to flare up on vacation, and these soothing products featuring sea buckthorn berry, jojoba, and sunflower seed oils can be a welcome relief.

Best for Combination Skin

Caudalie vinoperfect brightening solution set.

The oil-free gel moisturizer is great for warmer climates.

If you prefer a more matte finish, you might not love the pearlescent moisturizer.

Designed to target uneven skin texture, this three-piece set includes a gentle glycolic essence (which the brand recommends applying with a cotton round after cleansing), a dark spot serum (to be used on face, neck, and décolleté), and a brightening moisturizer (to be slathered on morning and night, after serum application). The oil-free moisturizer has a lightweight gel texture, which makes it a great companion for trips to warmer climates. It also has pearlescent minerals which deliver an immediate visible glow to skin.

Best for Oily Skin

Priori the clear skin now kit.

This no-fuss routine is aimed at clearing and soothing blemish-prone skin.

To avoid possible irritation, start slow with the gel perfector only.

If your skin tends to break out under stress, you’ll need targeted products to combat the effects of a change in daily routine. This small-but-mighty set includes a two-week supply of skincare essentials designed to offer blemish control and clear oily skin. The first step is a calming lactic acid cleanser, which is still tough enough to remove eye makeup. Next comes a salicylic acid gel perfector aimed at balancing oily skin that can lead to breakouts, and that doubles as a mattifying primer. (The brand recommends starting usage at a few times a week to see how your skin reacts and before bumping up to daily application.) Finally, there’s an oil-free, silky-smooth replenishing moisturizer, which can also be used post sunburn to soothe skin.

Best for Dry Skin

Biossance miracle moisture set.

Four squalene-packed products work in tandem to help target parched skin.

The set does not include a cleanser or a product with SPF.

Plane cabins are practically synonymous with dry skin. That’s because an aircraft’s filtration system — which takes in outside air and circulates it in the cabin — causes humidity to drop well below what is comfortable for most people. Each of the four steps in this routine (a soothing eye cream, a plumping serum, a rich moisturizer, and a finishing Vitamin C oil) contain squalane , an ingredient said to have powerful hydrating properties. Not only is the kit a good fit for anyone with naturally drier skin or who may be experiencing abnormal dryness due to time of year or destination climates, but it can be great to boost lost moisture due to the flight alone. We love that this set includes a really creamy eye product, since delicate eye-area skin might need a little extra love after an aptly monikered red-eye flight .

Best for Normal Skin

Olehenriksen find your glow brightening skincare set.

Packed with vitamin C, these products can help brighten dull, travel-stressed skin.

This set does not include SPF, and you’ll want to layer some of top of any areas where PHAs were applied.

If your skin isn’t fussy, you can focus your routine on products that target long-term skin concerns. Olehenriksen’s four-piece set is anchored by the hero ingredient Vitamin C , which can treat photoaging and hyperpigmentation. An orange fruit water-based daily cleanser, a Vitamin C serum, a nourishing gel cream, and a color-correcting eye cream are designed to help improve luminosity, which can certainly suffer when we put our skin through the stress of traveling. The weightless-feeling gel is cool to the touch, making this set ideal for warmer-weather locations — but don’t forget to pack SPF for vital sun protection, which is not included in this kit.

Best for Lips

Fresh sugar collection lip care set.

These tiny lip balms deliver moisture and a variety of subtle colors.

Depending on the length of your trip, you may not need five different options.

We’ve talked a lot about skin dryness due to travel, but don’t neglect your parched pout. Fresh’s cult-favorite Sugar lip products are famous for delivering moisture along with subtle, buildable color. They’ll do double duty on your next trip by replenishing chapped lips and potentially replacing any lipsticks you might have considered packing.

This five-piece set includes mini versions of the brand’s best-selling colorless Advanced Therapy lip treatment (a must-have to combat drying plane cabin air), refreshing and softening Mint Rush, and three buildable tinted balms. The color balms — in rosé (a rosy pink), honey (a warm terracotta), and petal (a nude blush) — deliver a subtle tint with one swipe and a deeper shade when layered. If you don’t feel like carrying five lip products, the brand also makes a three-piece set .

Best for Eyes

Charlotte tilbury recovery skin set.

A cult-favorite cream is coupled with two soothing, hydrating serums.

This set is best suited for normal and dry skin types and does not include any cleansing products or SPF.

Jet lag, lack of sleep on red-eye flights, and more can all add up to dryness and redness around the eye area while jet setting. Charlotte Tilbury’s Recovery Skin Set is designed to restore hydration and plumpness with its trio of soothing products. Included is a half-ounce container of the celebrity-loved brand ’s cult-favorite hyaluronic acid-based Magic Cream, a mini serving of a lightweight Vitamin C serum, and a depuffing eye serum containing caffeine. We especially love the eye serum because it has a metal applicator tip which delivers a cooling sensation to your eye area when applied.

Best for In-flight Use

Shielded beauty self defense system set.

We keep these moisturizing minis close while in the air to replenish skin mid-flight.

You’ll need to pack other skincare items for a full routine as this set only has a hydrating mist, facial moisturizer, and hand and body lotion.

Plane cabins are notoriously harsh on skin and just a couple of hours in the air can leave your epidermis feeling parched. Whenever we fly, we love to keep a teeny bottle of hydrating mist — such as the soothing and energizing spritz in this three-piece kit — handy for a little mid-flight refresh. You can even apply it over makeup. Equally essential: the hand and body lotion which can aid any exposed body skin pre-, mid-, and post-flight and the nourishing facial moisturizer. Designed to protect skin against environmental elements, this set is also ideal for packing for new climates that your skin isn’t accustomed to.

Best for Warmer Climates

Image skincare ready, set, discover set.

A minimalistic skincare routine means more time for soaking in your trip .

If you prefer a more radiant finish on your beauty products, the mattifying moisturizer might not be your favorite.

When outdoor activities are on the itinerary, sun protection should be at the top of your packing list (yes, even in colder locations). With ingredients designed to hydrate and brighten — plus SPF — Image Skincare’s three-item set is a great low-fuss find for beach or warm-weather vacations. It starts with a mild cleanser, which is followed by a hydrating and brightening hyaluronic acid- and Vitamin C-packed serum. The last step, a mattifying moisturizer, offers SPF 30 sun protection. A bonus: The products come in a reusable TSA-friendly clear zip case that gives you one less thing to think about while packing for your next adventure.

Best for Colder Climates

Glossier the skincare edit.

The kit comes with two of Glossier’s cult-favorite lip balm minis.

None of the included products have any SPF.

Cold, dry air can quickly lead to skin dryness and redness as well as chapped lips. If you’re traveling to a climate that’s chillier than you’re used to, Glossier’s Skincare Edit set could be a great companion. It includes mini versions of the brand’s makeup-removing Milky Jelly Cleanser, the hydrating Super Bounce Serum (which they recommend pressing 3-4 drops gently into skin after cleansing), a shea- and murumuru-butter-rich moisturizer (which doubles as a primer), and Futuredew (an oil-serum hybrid that should be applied as the last step in your skincare routine, after sunscreen). We love that this kit also gives you two Balm Dotcom lip balms (one non-tinted and one barely-there pink), which will certainly come in handy if your lips dry out when temperatures drop. A bonus: it includes a nylon-spandex headband that's ideal for washing your face, and everything comes in a molded, recyclable paper case.

Tips for Buying Travel-sized Skincare Kits

Prioritize portability.

When traveling, especially via plane, you’ll want your skincare regimen to follow certain guidelines. First, anything going in your carry-on should adhere to the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule (all liquids, gels, and aerosols must be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less and should all fit into a single, clear quart-sized bag). You’ll also want to minimize the number of products you’re hauling as much as possible, per the quart-sized bag.

Consider your usual skin concerns and the climate at your destination

You’ll also want to think about the specific stressors your skin will be exposed to on your trip and stock up on products that can help combat those: Will you be spending ample time in the sun? Are you entering drying, cold weather? Will you be wearing more makeup than usual? These are all things to take into consideration when shopping for products to pack for your next vacation.

Best Travel Size Toiletries

travel container for face oil

In packing for any trip, there are certain things you can cut back on and leave at home, however devastating it may seem. And while I’m fine cutting back and leaving some things at home, obviously not everything can stay behind. So I’ve been focusing more on finding the best travel containers that are refillable – generic and brand specific.

Here are my favorite things that come in mini refillable containers, as well as a few containers for filling the rest and a few sustainable alternatives that save space! I’m rather big on using the same items and brands of things I use at home on the go, but I understand that has its limitations.

Choosing smaller, refillable containers is just one of my easy sustainable travel tips !

Sustainable Refillable Travel Containers-2

Best Travel Containers

There are so many travel bottles out there, but after too many ‘explosions’ of my shampoo I’m always leery of those “leak-proof” claims.

Hilariously enough, my cowboy boots were assaulted by some explosive shampoo on one return trip. I was initially devastated but now I love that it’s turned into a worn look. And I have a fun story to share when I wear them.

Anyway, since you can’t always count on the trendy distressed look to save you from an explosion gone wrong and because we (i.e. me) are trying to cut back on size and weight of luggage, let’s talk refillable travel containers!

When it comes to refillable travel bottles, I prefer silicone ones – not the hard-sided ones because I find them easier to use and clean.

My most trusted brand is GoToob by Humangear. We got ours from this brand about 10 years ago and still use them.

You can get the 3-pack of the 3.4oz. bottles on Amazon , Target , and from The Container Store . There are also 1.7oz containers .

The packs of 3 usually include three different colors (though you can get all clear and I’ve seen all black). I love these GoToobs for 2 reasons. Well, actually 3!

The FIRST is that they have never, ever exploded or leaked on me. I always put my shampoo and conditioner in them and for at least 10 years, I’ve never had a problem.

SECOND, there is an identifier on the cap with sham, cond, sun, lotion, and soap in addition to a blank space. Just twist it to the right product. You’ll never accidentally put sunscreen in your hair again!

THIRD, the bottles are squishy, so it’s far easier to get all the product out. This is crucial when you’re on the last days of a long trip. So many travel size bottles are hard-sided so you end up pulling a muscle trying to force it down to the opening!

The squishy factor (clearly a technical term!), is also great because that means the containers will be able to bend more and take up less space as you use more product!

The same brand also sells GoTubbs which are little container perfect for pills, jewelry, and anything little you like. They aren’t leak proof, but it’s a good way to store some essentials!

Target sells a similar travel containers for kids with adorable penguins ! I’d use these too as an adult and they even have the identifiers.

I recently stumbled on these refillable travel containers that have airless pumps and are made of recycled plastic. I obviously can’t vouch for them, but I love the idea for hair care and beauty products!

Sustainable Refillable Travel Containers-Hair Products

Refillable Haircare for Travel

I have a long list of reasons I love Innersense hair care , but on that list is that they have refillable, miniature bottles of most of their line – not just shampoo and conditioner. And if that weren’t enough, these 2 oz. hair care bottles are also made of recycled plastic !

For this upcoming trip, I purchased (because I use them the most) the following hair styling refillable containers.

  • Hair Love Prep Spray – a heat protectant spray
  • Quiet Calm Curl Control
  • I Create Finish (hair spray)

Use discount code LUCI15 for 15% off your first Innersense purchase

Now, while Innersense offers travel sizes of the shampoo and conditioner I use, and I could even just use one of the refillable travel containers above, I’m actually planning to take small shampoo and conditioner bars !

refillable skincare containers

Refillable Skincare for Travel

Many companies are starting to come out with miniature sizes of their product,s but the key is finding ones that are refillable (and easily refillable at that). Anything with a screw-on lid is great as it lets you refill easily. Further if the full size option can dispense easily without changing the formula or consistency, you’re golden!

My current skincare options are almost completely refillable, which more than a little freakin’ fabulous!

Check out my Beautycounter product review here and you’ll see just how much I love my Beautycounter skincare regimen. They often sell a carryon set of their countertime regimen . Each of the items comes in a completely refillable container (with Beautycounter or any other product). The collection includes a cleansing oil, toning water, serum, face cream, and an overnight cream containers – totally fine for any brand.

I also recently tried the Activist skincare , a completely refillable, clean skincare line. Their trial kit comes with refillable, travel sizes, and I’m excited to take the serum and face oil in these small containers with droppers. I’ve traveled with them, and they don’t leak, so I’m quite happy.

If you’re thinking of traveling without your without your skincare regimen, I’d encourage you to think again. Read these benefits of facial serum and why it’s always a must-have.

Use code LUCISMORSELS20 for 20% off your Activist order. Check out their trial kit for travel sizes!

A few other favorite products of mine that come in small, refillable containers:

And check out this post on refill pouches and what personal care brands offer refill pouches!

Refillable Travel Perfume Bottle

Since a big glass bottle is heavy and breakable, not to mention the weight of all the liquid – this is a great place to cut back.

You want to look for a mini spray bottle or atomizer. I’ve found quite a few selection on Etsy from glass to aluminum and bamboo casings. This bamboo perfume spray bottle is attractive because it isn’t breakable and has a sleek cover for the spray button!

My favorite nontoxic perfume also come in rollerballs , which are basically the size of a tube of chapstick.

daybird skincare reviews

Travel Size Makeup?

Some makeup brands offer mini sizes of their products, but they usually aren’t refillable at all. I do support the downsizing of your suitcase, but at the cost of even more beauty empties to make sure you recycle properly …I don’t think it’s worth it.

So rather than makeup minis, I’d use refillable containers as much as you can (think foundation in a small tub or container) and think about just downsizing the amount of makeup you’ll be taking on a trip. See my complete clean makeup routine here .

For my upcoming trip to Scotland , I’m taking the following items:

  • Tinted SPF to moisturizer (see my daybird skincare review w. discount)
  • Cream Blush Stick
  • Gel Eyeliner
  • Brow Pencil
  • Lash Lengthening Mascara
  • highlighting balm

Additionally, I have luck saving the items from the “gifts with purchase” for my remaining travel size toiletry needs. And when you really strike out with the above options, get some sealed containers and make your own mini size.

Check out these refillable makeup products , refillable skincare products , and refillable deodorants brands !

Where to get Travel Size Beauty Products

For those things you can’t live without, check out Sephora’s extensive minis section . IT’S HUGE!!! They have just about everything and a long list of clean beauty brands via Sephora online and in store .

The options for travel size toiletries, cosmetics, and shampoo bottles are actually quite numerous. You just might need to do a little research. Remember that you can only take up to 3.4 oz. of any one item through TSA. Most makeup items are actually much smaller. And remember you can always use the GoToobs and GoTubbs to downsize for your trip!

Looking to downsize more? Check out what I take in my travel wallet and tips for how to avoid overpacking .

Contact lens cases are small yet sturdy and easy to carry in a toiletry case. Get a few in different colors so you can color code them based on the product.

One reader says, “I’ve been using contact lens cases for years since I traveled so much for business,” while another reader adds, “Contact lens cases is what I’ve been using lately as well! On short weekend trips, I even put toothpaste in them.” For other products, a reader says, “I put eye cream on one side and lip cream in other side.”

The secret to packing light is to use packing cubes  to compress your clothes and keep your belongings organized!

Humangear Leakproof Travel Bottles Set

Squeezable Silicone Travel Tubes

For products like sunscreen and body lotion, most travelers believe more is more. There’s nothing worse than a sunburn or dry skin. Rather than check your bag to take a giant tube of sunscreen, decant your favorite creams into silicone travel tubes . Readers have also recommended this 14-pack travel set that has silicone squeeze bottles, and also includes 3 pots and 2 toothbrush covers!

One reader says, “If I have a lot of something thick, like face wash, body wash, sunscreen, then those squeeze tubes have been my favorite.”

Centrifuge Test Tube Vial Container

Centrifuge Test Tubes

Unless you can find a travel-size version, it’s nearly impossible to pack toners, micellar water, and other liquids in a small container. However, one of the most clever hacks we’ve heard of is using test tubes ! They’re tiny, compact, and clear, making them perfect for travel.

One reader says, “For super thin liquids like toner, micellar water, and such, I use containers from the lab,” while another adds, “Those 15ml and 50ml falcon tubes also work great!”

Sterile Airless Pump Bottle

Airless Vacuum Pump Containers

For serums, cleansers, and watery moisturizers, a pump container works best. These containers have an airless vacuum pump, making them easy to transfer products into and out of. The one ounce size is perfect for longer trips or products you use frequently.

One reader says, “I swear by the little airless vacuum pump containers. They’re great for shampoo, facial cleanser, and other products.” Another adds, “They absolutely do NOT leak!”

Clear Unicorn Pen Plastic Bottle

Unicorn Pens

These plastic tubes look tiny but they hold a whole one ounce of product. The slim  design is easy to handle and slips right into your pocket or purse. The precision nozzle tip can drip just one drop or a steady stream, depending on the amount of pressure you apply.

One reader says, “I just ordered some unicorn bottles for my enormous skin care regimen. They are often used for e-juice but their slender size makes them great for packing. They’re best for watery toners, micellar water, etc. But I still use contact cases for foundation, eye cream, and facial sunscreen.”

Empty Lip Gloss Balm Container

Holding 0.3oz of product, this tube is the perfect size when you need to use a container that’s bigger than a contact lens case but smaller than a full ounce tube. The small size makes these balm containers perfect for carrying in your day bag for touch ups.

Readers like this handy set of 10ml lip gloss tubes , too. It comes with a syringe for easing filling, and it’s also available in larger 15ml and 20ml sizes.

One reader says, “I love these for everything from tinted moisturizer, sunscreen, hair gel, to medicated ointments, you name it. I bought a label maker just to keep them all identified.” Another adds, “ I have these as well! I use these for most of my creams. They seem small but they hold enough for several weeks.”

Round Clear Jars

As one reader puts it, “After contact lens containers, you will graduate to the small plastic round containers .” These pots are perfect for creams and foundation when you need to travel with a larger amount than a contact lens can fit. TFGs also recommend this 10-piece set and 15-piece set with pots that come in two different sizes!

One reader says, “These are awesome to put small amounts of stuff, like concealer or gel blush.” If you’re worried about leaking, one reader has a great recommendation: “Unscrew cap, use cling wrap over the opening, then screw cap back on. Works like a charm.”

YASUOA Flat Pouches

Flat Toiletry Pouches

Flat pouches are an amazing way to carry your liquids because they’re incredibly space-saving! While they have the capacity to fit a good amount of liquid, they won’t take up any extra space if you don’t need to fill it up the whole way. And the more you use, the smaller they get, so you’ll have more room in your suitcase on the way back!

These pouches from YASUOA are slim and flexible yet leakproof, and come in a 12-set comprised of 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml pouches so you can bring the right amount of each of your products! Readers have also recommended these adorable Kitsch pouches that comes in a 3-set, or you can get an 11-piece set that has the pouches but also includes pots, pumps, and a spray bottle!

One reader says, “For decanting liquids, I used refillable pouches on my two last trips overseas. They worked well because they pack so flat.”

In the past I’ve not had any success on carrying my facial moisturizer in a travel bottle so it’s nice to see a good selection to try new ones that (fingers crossed) won’t leak.

Thanks for the article, clicking on the spreadsheet takes me to 404 page not found.

Hi Alex – have you ever done a spot for curly-haired girls? Between the extra goop we use (and are unlikely to easily find at our destination) plus the travel hair dryer and absolutely necessary diffuser (that may or may not fit on a hotel-provided dryer, thereby requiring us to bring our own), I have not been able how to schlep all of that _plus_ regular items to stay in a carry-on. All suggestions are appreciated!!

Alex

Hi Margo, have a look at this article for tips for styling your curly hair when traveling: https://www.travelfashiongirl.com/how-to-style-curly-hair-when-traveling . All really great ideas! If you carry perfume….I highly recommend the sample size, tiny glass tubes you can (still?) get from department stores! I can’t wear most perfumes due to allergies, so my substitute is scented oils. My favorite is “ Sweetgrass”, which is suble, but natural. I get comments like “you smell really good” as opposed to “ what perfume areyou wearing?” which I rather like!

Hi Connie, thank you so much for sharing your excellent travel tips for downsizing your toiletries!! Your scented oil sounds awesome!! 🙂

Claudia Naber

What container would you recommend for oils like argan? The pump?

Hi Claudia, thank you for your question! We’ll share your question here so the author of the article can reply. 🙂

Diane

I carry oils like Argan or Jojoba oil in reused eye drop bottles. Those soft, cloudy plastic bottles are not only leakproof, but they dispense the small quantities required for each use without waste.

I have even bought eye drops from the Dollar Store specifically for the little bottles. To fill them, remove the dropper from the mouth of the bottles with a firm twisting pull. Then gently squeeze the empty bottle as you decant from the larger bottle to lower the atmospheric pressure within the tiny bottle. Release it as needed to allow more oil to fill or to clear bubbles. I sometimes use a teeny funnel to help with the decanting.

Replace the dropper by pressing it firmly. A gentle squeeze as you tighten the cap will expel excess air to prevent leaks.

Eye drop bottles are perfect for thin oils and watery liquids. You can even use them for more viscous liquids when you leave out the dropper. The bottles are typically available in ¼- to 1-ounce sizes.

Amanda

I use Estée Lauder double wear foundation. At the counter, they will give you a sample in the most convenient little plastic bottle! It lasts for weeks and takes up a minuscule amount of space!!!

How to Pack the Perfect Travel Skincare Routine, No Matter Where You’re Going

Woman packing skincare into travel case

Updated 05/11/23. Prepping for a trip can be hectic enough, the last thing you need is to be stressing over which skincare products to pack. Unfortunately, between being on an airplane and then in a brand new environment, travel can sometimes wreak havoc on your skin if you don’t come prepared.

Table of Contents

I’ve written this post to help you take the guesswork out of which products to bring on your trip and give you my best skincare travel tips! As someone who’s on a plane almost once a month (if not more!), I’ve gotten pretty good at packing for every scenario.

Stick to the Basics (This Isn’t the Time for Experimentation)

When packing skincare for travel, your number one goal should be to keep your skin as balanced and comfortable as possible. This means it’s definitely not the time to bring along any new skincare products you’ve been wanting to try! The last thing you need is to have a bad reaction, or for your skin to be thrown out of whack at a time when it’s already being introduced to so many new variables.

The first step is to pack your basics (this is especially true if you’re only taking a carry-on and have limited space for liquids). Here are my personal non-negotiable travel skincare products:

  • Daytime moisturizer with SPF
  • Nighttime moisturizer

If necessary, decant your products into smaller travel containers (I like to use these ones from Cadence and pack them all together in my Truffle Bag ). Even if you’re checking a bag, keep these three products in your carry-on. This way, if your luggage gets lost, you’ll still be able to take care of your skin’s most basic needs.

Pro Tip: I came up with a travel hack years ago that allows me to pack liquid skincare products without actually classifying them as liquids. Start by generously saturating a toning cloth with your favorite alcohol-free toner, eye makeup remover, or other liquid skincare product. Then, store the cloths in a plastic baggie so you can use them as needed.

Choose Your SOS Products Carefully

Your suitcase is precious real estate so if you do bring more skincare products beyond the basics, choose wisely! The two things I would urge you to take into consideration are 1) which problems you’re trying to avoid (i.e. breakouts, sensitivity, or dryness) and 2) the climate you’ll be traveling to (more on this one later).

Everyone: If you only have the luxury of bringing one more skincare product, make it an exfoliant. Don’t get too hung up on what kind, just make sure it’s one you’ve used before and that agrees well with your skin. Removing dry, expired skin cells from your face every few days is a good way to “reset” the skin and can help minimize almost any problem you’re prone to.

If you’re prone to breakouts: consider a hydrating face mask that also fights breakouts with ingredients like salicylic acid or tea tree oil. The reason I love this as an SOS product is that it delivers a 1-2-punch: it minimizes breakout activity on the skin while also providing water-based hydration. Even if you have oily skin, airplane travel or traveling somewhere without much humidity can lead to dehydration (which can lead to more breakouts). With one product, you can stay ahead of both issues.

Additionally, you might want to bring a spot treatment for emergency pimples. If you tend to get cystic acne, bring a non-drying spot treatment . Those more prone to classic whiteheads should opt for something with drying ingredients like benzoyl peroxide or sulfur ( this one can even double for calming bug bites!).

If you’re prone to sensitivity: I would recommend either a soothing serum or face mask you can use as often as needed to keep your skin comforted. A few ingredients I personally love for relieving irritation and sensitivity are water lily extract , algae extract (specifically red marine algae), allantoin , and green tea extract .

If you’re prone to dryness: bring a facial oil and/or a lipid-rich moisturizing mask . Replenishing your skin’s oils will be key to preventing flakiness and crepey-looking skin, especially if you’ll be riding on an airplane or are going somewhere cold.

Focus on Skincare Before and After a Flight, Not During

Some people try to prevent the dryness caused by flying on a plane by doing sheet masks or misting their skin mid-flight, but I personally believe this is a waste of time (and that you may end up doing more harm than good ). Instead, focus on what you can do for your skin pre- and post-flight.

If you can, do a hydrating mask before your flight then layer up on hydrating ingredients in the form of a toner and serum. Then, lock it all in with a moisturizer. If you’re flying during the day, it’s super important that you choose a moisturizer with SPF. You can get a lot of UV damage being that high up, which is why I always try to get a window seat so I can close the shade. Finally, cap everything off with a few drops of facial oil. This will seal in all that hydration and prevent it from evaporating into the dry, cabin air.

Once you arrive at your destination, wash your face and exfoliate to remove the dry skin cells that built up during the flight. If you can, follow up with a hydrating mask to rehydrate fresh skin cells.

Consider the Climate at Your Destination

Few things can throw your skin off balance as much as heading to a totally different climate than the one you’re used to.

What to Do If You’re Traveling Somewhere Colder and/or Drier

If you have dry skin ( Skin Types 7-9 ) : layering rich, oil-based products is essential. You can also consider slugging , which is applying a thin layer of Vaseline or other petrolatum-based product over your moisturizer to create an occlusive seal, just like an oil would. (You also don’t want to neglect your lips , and Vaseline can be great for keeping them from getting chapped.)

If you have oily or combo skin ( Skin Types 1-6 ): keeping your skin hydrated in a cold, dry climate can be a little trickier since you don’t want to layer on too many heavy products. In this case, the best strategy is more layers made up of lighter products. Start by making sure you’re using a cleanser that doesn’t strip the skin. Then, if you can, layer the same way you would before a flight: a hydrating toner, hydrating serum, moisturizer for your skin type, and a facial oil. People are sometimes surprised when I recommend an oil for oily skin types, but it’s all about applying it correctly . The key is gently patting it onto the skin instead of rubbing it in. This will ensure the oil sits on top like a seal to keep everything in instead of settling into your pores.

NOTE: If you’re layering products that contain humectants like glycerin or hyaluronic acid while in a dry environment, be sure to apply them to damp skin then quickly seal them in with moisturizer. Applying humectants to dry skin in a dry environment will give you the opposite of a hydrating effect and leave your skin more dehydrated than before.

What to Do If You’re Traveling Somewhere Warmer and/or More Humid

If you have dry skin (Skin Types 7-9 ) : the good news is you shouldn’t have to switch your routine up much! The humidity may actually do your skin a favor. One thing to keep in mind if you’re going on a beach vacation is that saltwater can dry out the skin . To combat this, I recommend using a water-resistant sunscreen since they use emollients that will help repel water.

If you have oily or combo skin (Skin Types 1-6 ): you’ll definitely want to focus on oil control to prevent breakouts. One way to do this is to consider switching over to a more acne-focused cleanser; look for something low-foaming that includes ingredients like salicylic acid to curb oil production. Salicylic acid is also a great ingredient to look for in a serum if you bring one since it’s so effective at keeping pores clean. Beyond this, focus on water-based products with a light texture. For nighttime, use either a gel or oil-free lotion moisturizer. For daytime, look for a sunscreen that doubles as a moisturizer to minimize the number of layers on your skin.

I hope you found these tips helpful and that they help you put together the perfect travel skincare routine!

5 Genius Tips on How to Pack Skincare For Travel

Packing Skincare For Travel

If you are a person who travels a lot, you are of those who either struggle to take care of their skin or become a mess in the process of trying.

Truth is, when I traveled, I used to become a mess myself.

With so many skin care products and an elaborate skin care routine , doing skin care while traveling can become daunting if you’re not prepared.

Lucky for you, these 5 effective tips will help you maximize your skin care while traveling making it an easy and enjoyable experience.

Tip #1: Switch From a Liquid Cleanser To a Balm Oil Cleanser

This is one of the first and simplest tips for you to try out when packing skincare for travel.

If you have ever tried to pack a liquid cleanser, then you know how difficult it is.

The bottles cleansers come in are not designed for travel and that’s why they are more likely to spill and cause a huge mess.

Even if you try to duct tape the bottle to prevent the cleanser from spilling, it will most probably spill inside your luggage because baggage handlers are not delicate; trust me, I know.

Switch your liquid cleanser to a balm oil cleanser, there’s a common misconception that balm oil cleansers are only beneficial for dry, dehydrated and sensitive skin types.

But the best feature of this type of cleanser is that it works for all skin types and comes in a solid balm which is of tremendous help when packaging because it’s spill-proof.

If using a balm oil cleanser concerns you, know that it’s just as easy to use as a liquid cleanser.

Most skin care brands have balm oil cleansers but with so many choices it can be overwhelming choosing which one to buy, so always do your research to make sure you’re buying a balm that’s ideal for your skin and preference.

Cleansing Balm For Travel Skincare

Tip #2: Presoak Cotton Pads with Toner

If you’re traveling, especially long-distance, then you know the feeling of wanting to freshen up and toning your skin is the perfect way to do just that.

When we’re at home, we usually have cotton pads and a full-size toner bottle which is not ideal for traveling because it takes a lot of luggage space and just like the liquid cleanser it can spill.

Presoak cotton pads with toner and seal them in a Ziploc bag to prevent the toner from being evaporated from the cotton pads.

You will love how convenient this tip is when you need to refresh your skin on the fly, all you have to do is to take out a cotton pad from your Ziploc bag and then use it.

Tip #3: Pack Eye Cream within a Contacts Case

Traveling can be exhausting but you don’t want to look tired when you have to travel for an important event.

A big misconception is that the more skin care product you apply the better but when it comes to eye cream you don’t need to apply a lot, as a matter of fact, applying a small amount does the trick.

That’s why you don’t have to take the entire eye cream container with you.

Instead, take an old contact case and fill it with eye cream but make sure you have enough to use for a couple of days.

You will love the smaller package because it barely takes any luggage space and it’s easy to apply on the go.

Contact Lense Case Idea For Traveling

Tip #4: Switch Facial Oils From Glass Bottles to Eye Dropper Bottles

Facial oils, such as Rosehip Seed Oil , Marula Oil and Jojoba Oil come in very fragile opaque glass bottles so they can easily break.

Avoid carrying them in the same exact package they came in, otherwise, it will just be a headache the entire trip.

If you are a person who travels frequently, you need to switch your facial oils from fragile glass bottles to spill-proof plastic eye dropper bottles.

Plastic eye dropper bottles will not only prevent the oils from being spilled and easy to apply but will also help the oils keep their original chemical composition so they don’t lose their effectiveness.

Eye Drops Bottle

Tip #5: Mix Serum with Moisturizer

Mixing your serum with your moisturizer is not just easy but it’s a very effective tip for people who travel often that don’t have the time to put into a long skincare routine .

All you have to do is take a drop of your favorite serum and add it to your favorite moisturizer , this tip will minimize your travel load and shorten your skin care routine making skincare easier while traveling.

Bottom Line

These tips will make packaging skin care for travel easier than before.

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice your skin care because you travel, as a matter of fact, having a solid and practical skin care routine while travel is important to prevent stressed skin.

5 Leakproof Containers for Carrying Oils & Sauces When Backpacking

By Alex Beale on January 13, 2021

Bottles from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit

When you buy something through one of the links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission.

Not too long ago, I picked up a cheap silicone travel bottle from Walmart. I wanted something to take backpacking that would hold the olive oil needed to prep my nightly couscous.

Big mistake.

After ending up with an oily mess in my backpack, I decided to go back to the drawing board. I researched and then tried out the most popular containers hikers use to carry oils and sauces.

I learned that carrying oils and sauces with you when backpacking doesn’t have to be messy. You just need to know which containers work.

Here are 5 leakproof, ultralight options you can use on your next trip into the backcountry.

1. Nalgene Travel Bottle

Bottles from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit

If you just need to take a small amount of oil or sauce, a tried-and-true option is a bottle from the Nalgene Medium Travel Kit .

This kit is a collection of leakproof plastic bottles with capacities of 1, 2, and 4 fluid ounces. Having bottles of varying capacities makes minimizing bulk and weight a cinch — you can always select the lightest and least bulky container that meets your needs.

The bottles are all compact, lightweight, durable, and dishwasher-safe. I’ve found them to be the perfect size for short camping and backpacking trips, such as overnighters or weekend excursions. They’re also versatile and suitable for holding pretty much anything, from spices to alcohol stove fuel  to biodegradable soap and shampoo .

Nalgene also makes a Small Travel Kit that doesn’t include the 4-fluid-ounce containers. And you can also purchase individual bottles at REI stores.

2. MiO Bottle

MiO bottle

Not looking for an entire bottle kit?

Consider an empty MiO bottle.

MiO is a liquid water flavoring that comes in a lightweight yet durable plastic container. Just pop the top, pour out the contents, wash the bottle, and it’s all set to hold roughly 1.5 fl oz of hot sauce, olive oil, or your flavoring of choice.

3. Platypus SoftBottle

A 0.5-liter Platypus SoftBottle

Maybe you’re setting out on a thru-hike. Maybe you’re prepping food for lots of people. Maybe you’re craving the calories.

In these situations, a Platypus SoftBottle is the best option. It’s a leakproof, ultralight, and compressible bladder available in two sizes: 0.5-liter and 1-liter.

I particularly love this option for large quantities because as you use it up it takes up less and less space in your pack. Eventually it’ll reach a point where it can fit inside your backpacking cook pot , reducing its added bulk to zilch.

4. Reusable Food Pouch

Reusable food pouch

Designed for baby food, reusable food pouches are similar to Platypus bladders except for one important difference. You fill them up from the bottom via a resealable zipper, rather than from the top.

The zipper on my pouch didn’t leak at all when I tested it. Though to be frank I’d be worried about the zipper wearing down over time and springing a tiny leak.

It’s hard to beat the size and weight of these pouches though. And you do earn style points for taking a panda pouch with you on the trail…

…at least in my book.

5. Mini Soda Bottle

A 12-oz soda bottle

A mini soda bottle: you might have one in your fridge or recycling bin right now. (If not, you can find packs of 8- or 12-fluid-ounce soda and water bottles at most grocery stores.)

Congrats, it’s now your oil or sauce container. Just wash it and peel off the label.

Plastic bottles are cheap and lightweight — a 12-ounce plastic Coke bottle weighs 0.88 oz. They’re reliable too: I occasionally use a 12-ounce soda bottle as my alcohol fuel container  and have never had a problem with it leaking.

Individual Pouches: An Alternative to Plastic Containers

Individual packets of Texas Pete Hot Sauce

A classic pre-trip ritual for many backpackers is to grab a meal at a nearby fast food joint before driving to the trailhead.

To ransack the restaurant’s condiment station.

You can find the classic condiments there of course, but some restaurants such as Chick-fil-A also put out individual packets of hot sauce. To get your hot sauce fix on the trail you might not even need to bring an extra container with you. Just pick up some free packets.

I’ve never seen individual packets of olive oil at a fast food restaurant, but you can find them online. Marconi packets are a popular option among backpackers which you can buy in bulk. You can no doubt find individual packets for sale online of whatever oil, sauce, condiment, or flavoring you want to take.

This method is lightweight, non-bulky, and convenient. The only downside is the increased amount of food waste you’ll need to pack out.

How to Pack Skincare for Travel in 2022

My Tips in Packing Skincare for Travel in 2024?

If you travel regularly, you know the problems of putting your skincare regimen in baggage. Due to many restrictions due to airline regulations, it is hard to carry around your everyday products. Here, resTORbio will show you how to pack skincare for travel and take care of your skin.

How Can I Make My Skincare Products Tsa Friendly

How do I pack skin care for travel?

Packing your skincare for travel can seem overwhelming, but with a few tips and tricks, you can make sure you have everything you need without overpacking. Here are some steps to follow:

  • Assess your skincare needs: Before you start packing, think about the skincare products you use on a daily basis and prioritize the ones that are essential for your routine. This may include a cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and any other treatments or serums you use regularly.
  • Choose travel-sized products: Look for travel-sized versions of your favorite skincare products, or use small travel containers to transfer your products into. This will help to save space in your luggage and ensure that you stay within the TSA liquid limits.
  • Pack in a clear bag: To make it easy to navigate through security, pack your skincare products in a clear, plastic bag. This will allow TSA agents to quickly see what you are carrying and help to prevent any delays or issues.
  • Protect your products: To prevent spills and leaks, make sure to tightly seal all of your skincare products and place them in a plastic bag or toiletry bag. You can also use bubble wrap or packing peanuts to help cushion your products during transport.
  • Consider the climate: If you are traveling to a different climate, such as a dry or humid environment, you may need to adjust your skincare routine accordingly. Make sure to pack products that will help to address any specific skin concerns you may have, such as dryness or oiliness.

By following these steps, you can pack your skincare for travel with ease and ensure that you have everything you need to keep your skin healthy and glowing while on the go.

How Can I Make My Skincare Products TSA Friendly?

According to the TSA , all liquids must weigh no more than 3.4 ounces . Many containers can be used to store your favorite products without you having to alter your entire skincare routine. These containers can be found at any pharmacy or drugstore.

It might be worth switching products to smaller containers. You could, for example, take our Makai Marine Hawaiian Face Moisturizer on your trip. It already comes in a TSA-sized container.

You can also take your favorite colors with you when you travel with the three-pack of Kukui Oil Lip Treatments.

You’re sure to love our Kona Peptide Eye Cream and our Aloe E Face Washer. The travel kit includes both and is approved by the TSA.

All About Non-liquid Products

You can also make sure you get through TSA quickly by choosing products that aren’t liquid. Our favorite products are the Charcoal Powder and Papaya Enzyme Face Cleansers. They also come in a small travel size so you can take them with you wherever you go.

Stick to the Basics

How to Pack Beauty Products for Travel Stick to the Basics

Few things are essential when I travel.

  • Toner or cleansers allow me to remove light makeup or dirt from my skin while on the plane.
  • Use a sleeping mask. These portable masks keep my skin hydrated even in dry skin, and hot hotel rooms.
  • Use a sheet mask to add more hydration.
  • Eye cream to prevent wrinkles from developing.
  • Lip balm to soothe my dry lips. Tight lips can make it difficult to sleep.

For long-haul flights (6+ hours), I will generally wipe my face with the cleanser, then apply a sheet mask and a gel or sleeping mask (+ Lip Balm + Eye Cream) to my skin during the flight to keep it hydrated. This helps to speed up the flight.

Travel containers for skincare Choose Your SOS Products Carefully

Choose Your SOS Products Carefully

You have precious space in your suitcase so choose carefully what products you bring. You should consider 1) the problems you want to avoid (e.g., You should also consider the climate where you will be traveling (more details later).

Everyone: If you have only one skin care product that you can bring, consider an exfoliant. You don’t have to be picky about the type of exfoliant you choose, but make sure that it is one that you have used before and works well for your skin. It is a great way to “reset” your skin and help reduce any problems you may have.

A hydrating mask for acne sufferers that contains ingredients such as salicylic acid and tea tree oil can help reduce the appearance of breakouts.

This is why I love it as an SOS product. It delivers a double punch. It minimizes skin breakouts while providing water-based hydration.

Even if your skin is oily, dehydration can occur when you travel by plane or in an area without humidity. This can cause more breakouts. You can avoid both problems with one product.

You might also want to bring a spot treatment for any emergency pimples. Cystic acne is more common if you are prone to dry spots.

You might be more susceptible to whiteheads. This treatment can double as a calming agent for those with calming symptoms. ).

You may be sensitive if you have sensitive skin. I recommend a soothing cream or a face mask that you can use as many times as you need to soothe your skin.

Water lily extract, red marine algae extract, allantoin, and green tea extract are some of my favorite ingredients for relieving irritations and sensitivity.

Bring a moisturizing cream and facial oil if you are prone to dryness. It is essential to replenish your skin’s oils to prevent flakiness or crepey skin. This is especially true if you fly on an airplane or go somewhere cold.

How to Pack Skincare for Travels

How to Pack Skincare for Travel

Use a Balm Oil Cleaner

The first one is straightforward. Spillage can be a problem because oil cleansers are stored in a pump bottle. It is possible to avoid this by purchasing an oil cleanser in a solid balm.

We love the Enature Moringa Cleansing Balm. It’s small enough to carry on bag. It is spill-proof, easy to use, and even more convenient to pack.

Pre-soak Your Toning Pads

It’s hard to find something better than refreshing your skin with a cleanser or toner during a long travel day. You don’t need to take a whole bottle everywhere you go.

Pre-soak your cotton pads in toner and then seal them in a Ziploc bag. These will keep your cotton pads moist, and they will make it easy to tone your skin quickly.

Put Your Eye Cream in a Contacts Case

It is essential to use eye cream daily. Acwell pH Balancing Intense Cream for the eyes is one example of a hydrating cream. The cream for the eyes doesn’t require much.

You don’t need to bring the entire jar. Instead, you can fill an old contact case with the cream. This will give you enough for a few days in a smaller package.

Use an Eye Dropper for Your Facial Oil

You can also use an eyedropper bottle to store facial oils. A lot of facial oils are packaged in fragile bottles. Therefore, it is better to pack your oils in a plastic eye dropper bottle.

The container store dropper bottle was used in the video. However, any dropper bottle can be used. This will also make it easy to apply directly to your skin.

A facial oil stick is another option. You can apply it directly to your skin. It is also easy to carry on bag.

Mix Your Serum Into Your Moisturizer

This is a great tip to help your skin feel nourished. Mix a few drops of your favorite serum in your travel moisturizer , and then mix them.

This will make it easier to carry on and easier to use. The Manyo Factory Galactomy Essential Cream is a great travel moisturizer. It is lightweight but packed with soothing ingredients and antioxidants, ideal for winter travel.

Why Your Travel Skin Care Routine Is Important

You may have experienced skin problems when traveling, primarily via plane, such as dry patches, swollen eyes, or breakouts. Why is skin so sensitive?

The problem is not just in the cabins.

This is how it works: Humidity levels are about 20% lower than those on the ground because of the cabin pressure.

Recirculated, dry air causes your skin’s oil production to increase to compensate. It can lead to breakouts, oily skin, dry eyes, and congestion.

You can prevent a lot of discomfort by planning and taking steps to mitigate dry air issues. This will put you in a much better mood before you even get on the road.

Skincare Tips While Traveling

You can do several things to ensure your skin looks its best and prevent long-term damage from dry skin and harsh air.

Drink a Lot of Water

Yes, that is true. We know this because we hear it all the time. This is especially true when traveling and flying. Water is an antidote for dry air and can fight excess oil production, leading to buildup underneath the skin cells.

Water is excellent for you, but you already know that. Sixty-four ounces per day is a good starting point, but you should increase this while on the road.

You might also want to skip alcohol at the airport/airplane. It can worsen dehydration. It would help if you always had a reusable water container to refill at the airport or public fountains.

Keep Your Skin Clean and Exfoliated

You need to make sure your skin is clear of dead skin cells, toxins and other impurities before leaving for the road. Regular toners and vitamin C serums have natural exfoliating properties, so continue using them before and during your trip.

A polished, clean skin is the best canvas for ensuring that all your products work to their maximum potential.

Wear Sunscreen Religiously

This is a common suggestion. But, let’s face it how many people have forgotten to apply sunscreen (and reapply) when they go on vacation? We all know the feeling of a lobster face.

It would help if you used at least SPF 30, preferably higher. Don’t forget to protect your neck, hands and other areas that will be exposed to the sun. It’s a brilliant idea to wear hats!

Avoid Touching Your Face

Traveling can expose you to many new germs, and your hands are the most likely to pick up these germs. Avoid touching your face without washing your hands. Also, carry on some hand sanitizer!

Eat Healthy Foods

There are many temptations when you travel. But try to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It is incredible what lousy food and drink can do to your skin! Too much salt, too much alcohol, and too much grease can all lead to puffiness, blemishes, and less-than-glowing skin.

While it’s okay to indulge in the occasional treat, plan so that you can still eat healthy fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, as well as farm-to-table food.

You can also prepare healthy snacks like whole fruits, cut vegetables, trail mix, and natural protein bars made with plant-grown goodies (not sugar and fat).

Business | Some of Dali’s $43.7M worth of cargo sits in Curtis Bay; remaining containers’ fate uncertain

A container is lifted from the Dali as salvage work continues three weeks after the ship hit a structural pier of the Francis Scott Key Bridge causing a catastrophic collapse. (Jerry Jackson/Staff)

About 180 of the 4,700 containers have been removed from the ship and taken to a CSX rail yard in Curtis Bay, while the rest, both full and empty, remain stacked on board as the vessel owner, shipping line and cargo customers negotiate who ultimately will cover the costs of the salvaging operation.

Cleanup crews are working to remove an estimated 50,000 tons of steel and concrete bridge wreckage from the Patapsco River. They will remove “just enough” cargo and debris to refloat the ship, after which the Dali will be taken back to the Port of Baltimore to be assessed for damages, according to Coast Guard Petty Officer Michael Himes.

The majority of the cargo containers will remain onboard during the refloating process. Once the Dali reaches port, Maersk will offload the remaining containers and take them to a yet-to-be determined location, according to Kevin Doell, a U.S. spokesperson for Maersk, the ship’s Denmark-based shipping line.

About 2,100 containers onboard are full, Doell said.

The Dali’s Singapore-based owner, Grace Ocean Private Limited, last week declared “general average,” invoking an ancient maritime law that compels cargo owners to help finance the fallout from what some expect to be the largest-ever maritime loss .

Security bonds for all 2,600 empty containers onboard the ship had been provided as of Friday, while adjusters had received deposits for only 49 full containers, some of which were bound for ports in Bangkok; Busan, South Korea; Shuwaikh, Kuwait; and Doha, Qatar, according to a list of secured containers obtained by The Baltimore Sun.

The Dali was minutes into a monthlong journey to Sri Lanka when it collided with the bridge at 1:27 a.m. March 26 , toppling the 47-year-old span and killing six workers who were filling potholes. As of Tuesday, cleanup crews had removed 182 containers to help refloat the ship, then taken them by barge to a CSX-owned transportation yard in Curtis Bay, according to Gov. Wes Moore.

Doell declined to specify what is in the unopened containers, citing privacy. Shipping manifests are not publicly available, and charterers can request additional protection measures to guarantee their confidentiality, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The Dali previously had carried cargo from companies such as IKEA, LG, Walmart and the Chinese and U.S. units of Israeli-owned ZIM Logistics, according to ImportInfo, a website that compiles U.S. Customs import manifests.

Salvage technicians work on a section of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge.

The accident immediately destroyed 14 containers upon impact, and two more fell overboard, releasing soaps and perfumes into the water. Fifty-six containers onboard contain corrosive materials such as lithium batteries, and flammable and miscellaneous hazardous materials, though Jennifer Homendy, the chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, has said those containers pose “no immediate threat” to the environment.

The collective cargo is worth $43.7 million, according to an April 1 petition filed by Grace Ocean and its manager, Marine Synergy, seeking exemption from legal liability. The two Singapore firms have since appointed as its adjuster Richards Hogg Lindley, a British firm that also oversaw the adjustment processes for the Ever Given, which got stuck in the Suez Canal in 2021 , and the Ever Forward, which ran aground in the Chesapeake Bay in 2022 for over a month. Authorities had to remove 500 containers out of 5,000 from the Ever Forward to free it.

The Dali apparently lost power before it crashed into the bridge for reasons that remain unknown publicly. Investigations by the NTSB and the FBI are ongoing. Investigators from the safety board are focusing on its electrical system , while the FBI is looking for criminal negligence .

On April 22, Baltimore City officials accused Grace Ocean and Synergy Marine of negligence , arguing in court filings that the two firms knew the Dali was unseaworthy before the bridge collapse. A Baltimore County publishing company also sued the Dali’s owners for negligence on April 26, arguing that it lost business because of the collision, and seeking class action for the suit so other companies could join it.

Cargo insurers must provide invoices, agree to make payments, and clear security before the containers can be delivered to their customers, according to instructions from Richards Hogg Lindley provided to The Sun. Uninsured cargo customers must pay cash deposits to retrieve their containers.

Customers can then work with Maersk to ensure delivery of their cargo, Doell said. He was unable to say many containers onboard the Dali are insured.

Jonathan Spencer, the principal and average adjuster with the New York-based Spencer Company, previously told The Sun that as much as one-third of the cargo on a typical container ship may be uninsured.
