Neuer Sponsor: Aus „Trek-Segafredo“ wird „Trek-Lidl“

Lidl steigt als Sponsor beim amerikanischen WorldTeam Trek ein. Ab 30. Juni wird die Mannschaft nun den Namen „Lidl-Trek“ tragen. „Eine Partnerschaft, die nicht besser passen könnte: Zwei internationale Marken vereint in dem Anspruch, jeden Tag das Beste zu geben“, heißt es bei der deutschen Supermarktkette. Gemeinsam verfolge man ehrgeizige Pläne: „Ein Team in der globalen Radsport-Szene aufzubauen, das Radsport-Fans, die nächste Generation von Frauen- und Männer-Champions sowie alle Fahrer, egal ob Freizeit- oder Wettkampffahrer, begeistert und inspiriert. Als Partner setzen Lidl und Trek nicht nur auf sportlichen Erfolg, sondern auch auf alles rund um ganzheitliche Gesundheit, die sowohl Bewegung und Sport als auch bewusste Ernährung umfasst“, so Lidl.

Zuvor war Lidl bereits beim belgischen Team QuickStep Sponsor, jedoch nicht als einer der namensgebenden Hauptsponsoren. In Belgien war das Unternehmen auch bei Rennen präsent, nutzte beispielsweise Gent-Wevelgem für Aktionen – vor allem mit Ständen mit Obst und Getränken.

Das Handelsunternehmen Lidl gehört zur Schwarz Gruppe und gehört zu den führenden Unternehmen im Lebensmitteleinzelhandel in Deutschland und Europa. Aktuell sind laut Lild rund 100.000 MitarbeiterInnen beschäftigt, hat in Deutschland etwa 3250 der insgesamt 12.000 Filialen weltweit.

Lidl set to replace Segafredo as teams become Lidl-Trek

Lidl has agreed to become a name sponsor of the Trek cycling teams, starting from the 2023 Giro Donne at the end of June. Segafredo will begin their departure in time for the Tour de France on July 1st, closing their time as the co-name sponsor with Trek. With their departure scheduled for before the Giro Donne and Tour de France, that gives the team a chance to settle on a new jersey design that no doubt will incorporate the Lidl blue and yellow colour scheme in some fashion. It remains to be seen if the men’s and women’s jerseys will match – currently, the men’s team are red and the women’s team is blue in jersey colours.

Trek-Segafredo Men’s Team

The origins of the Trek-Segafredo men’s team can be traced back to 2011 when it was first launched as Leopard Trek. This Luxembourg-based team, led by the Schleck brothers – Frank and Andy, quickly made a name for itself on the ProTour circuit.

In 2012, Leopard Trek merged with RadioShack-Nissan. The result was the RadioShack-Leopard team, which continued to show promise and deliver results in major races. By 2014, the team was under the sole sponsorship of Trek, and the Trek Factory Racing team was born. The team built on its predecessors’ foundations, recruiting strong riders and racking up impressive results.

In 2016, the Italian coffee brand Segafredo joined as a co-sponsor, leading to the formation of the Trek-Segafredo team we know today. Over the years, the team has boasted a roster of exceptional cyclists, including Alberto Contador, John Degenkolb, and Richie Porte. They have secured impressive results in Grand Tours and classic races, cementing their position as a powerhouse in men’s professional cycling.

Trek-Segafredo Women’s Team

The Trek-Segafredo women’s team is a more recent addition to the professional cycling landscape. Officially launched in 2019, it marked a significant step in Trek’s commitment to the growth and development of women’s cycling. The team made headlines by offering pay and support equal to the men’s team, a rarity in professional cycling and a significant stride towards gender equality in the sport.

From the outset, the team attracted some of the sport’s most talented riders, including Lizzie Deignan , Elisa Longo Borghini, and Ellen van Dijk . The team has quickly become a dominant force in women’s cycling, earning a string of victories in prestigious races such as the Trofeo Alfredo Binda and Paris Roubaix Femmes.

Trek-Segafredo’s investment in the women’s team reflects a growing recognition of women’s cycling and has set the bar high for other professional cycling teams to follow suit.

Coffee and bikes have been synonymous since the sport was invented; a natural pairing that has become ingrained in cycling culture over the decades. Trek-Segafredo becomes Lidl-Trek ahead of Tour de France

Lidl-Trek presented their new kit ahead of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Bilbao.

Lidl is the new sponsor of the American WorldTour team and the kit has the well-known colors red, yellow and blue of the supermarket chain that replaces the Segafredo coffee brand.

The new sponsorship will allow the team to grow and will also create a development team for 2024, building the team from scratch.

“Over the years, we’ve invested a lot in young riders who are developing at a high level,” general manager Luca Guercilena said. “Loyalty to the team has been fundamental to reaching our potential. That will never change.”

Mads Pedersen, Quinn Simmons, Mattias Skjelmose, Giulio Ciccone, Jasper Stuyven, Alex Kirsch, Juan Pedro Lopez and Tony Gallopin rode down the aisle of the supermarket to reveal the new colours.

Apr 1, 2016 – Trek-Segafredo is proud to announce that it has reached a multi-year agreement with CA Technologies (NASDAQ: CA), one of the largest software corporations in the world. CA joins as the Official Enterprise Software Sponsor for the team through the end of 2017, and will take a prominent place on the sleeves and shorts of the Trek-Segafredo racing kit.

The trains and stations of the Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro is the third most intensive subway system in the world after Tokyo and Seoul subways. The first line was opened on May 15, 1935. Since 1955, the metro has the name of V.I. Lenin.

The system consists of 12 lines with a total length of 305.7 km. Forty four stations are recognized cultural heritage. The largest passenger traffic is in rush hours from 8:00 to 9:00 and from 18:00 to 19:00.

Cellular communication is available on most of the stations of the Moscow Metro. In March 2012, a free Wi-Fi appeared in the Circle Line train. The Moscow Metro is open to passengers from 5:20 to 01:00. The average interval between trains is 2.5 minutes.

The fare is paid by using contactless tickets and contactless smart cards, the passes to the stations are controlled by automatic turnstiles. Ticket offices and ticket vending machines can be found in station vestibules.

Segafredo joins Trek Factory Racing as co-title sponsor

Segafredo deal will allow Trek to fill hole left by Cancellara's retirement in 2017

Trek and Segafredo: Behind the combination of bikes and coffee

Fabian Cancellara , Bauke Mollema and team manager Luca Guercilena were all at the event and showed off the Trek-Segafredo team’s 2016 jersey with the Segafredo logo sitting below the Trek logo on the chest and back of the black and white jersey. 

Guercilena said the financial security offered by the arrival of Segafredo will allow the team to strengthen its roster and plan for the future. Cancellara has confirmed that he will retire after the 2016 season and Guercilena has already told Cyclingnews he would be interested in signing Vincenzo Nibali for 2017 and that Tejay van Garderen is also on his radar as a future Grand Tour team leader.

“The partnership with Segafredo is wonderful news,” Guercilena said. "Since the start of the team two years ago our performance and recruitment plan has revolved around long-term thinking. With Segafredo we have found a partner that shares the same values.”

Segafredo is a division of the Massimo Zanetti Beverage Group, which also owns popular US brand MJB and numerous other brands around the world. It claims to be the largest private coffee company in the world, with a reported turnover of 1.3 billion Euro and 2400 employees.

Massimo Zanetti, founder, chairman, managing director and president of the company, said he has long dreamed of becoming involved in cycling. Segafredo sponsored the Mclaren Formula 1 team in 2015 and the Honda team at the time of Ayrton Senna, as well as Italian soccer and basketball teams. Segafredo was a minor sponsor of Francesco Moser’s Supermercati Brianzoli in 1986 and 1987, but Zanetti is a keen cycling fan and is known to take time off work to see key stages of the Giro d’Italia. Nibali’s win at the 2014 Tour de France apparently convinced him to become a major sponsor.

“When I was a child, my father took me to a Giro d’Italia stage,” Zanetti said. “I saw Coppi and Bartali; Coppi with the pink jersey, Bartali with the tricolor jersey of the Italian champion. I was so impressed and fascinated that, from that time on, I always said to myself that sooner or later I would sponsor cycling.

“Today is that day, thanks to Trek, a great team composed of riders from Italy and from all over the world… It is a bit like we are at Segafredo. I really hope we are going to achieve important successes once again as often happened in the past in other sports such as Formula 1, where Segafredo became three times world champion with Rosberg, Lauda and Prost, not to mention the great friend Ayrton Senna, who drove his F1 car for a long time with Segafredo on board.”

Trek Senior Vice President Joe Vadeboncoeur said the relationship between the coffee company and the cycling team was natural fit.

“Everyone who rides knows that there is nothing in the world that goes better with cycling than coffee,” Vadeboncoeur said. “We are thrilled to welcome Segrafredo to the team and are looking forward to racing together in 2016 and beyond.”

The Trek Factory Racing team started in 2011 as Leopard-Trek and was registered in Luxembourg. The team became RadioShack-Nissan in 2012 and then RadioShack-Leopard in 2013. Trek bought the WorldTour license ahead of the 2014 season and moved the team’s registration to the US. The team have raced as Trek Factory Racing since then. 

Trek have signed several new riders for 2016 but perhaps held back on any major changes until Cancellara retires and the Segafredo sponsorship was confirmed. The team has gained experience by signing Ryder Hesjedal (from Cannondale-Garmin) and young talent in Edward Theuns (from Topsport Vlaanderen) and Niccolò Bonifazio (Lampre-Merida). Peter Stetina (BMC), Julien Bernard, Jack Bobridge (Budget Forklifts), and Kiel Reijnen (UnitedHealthcare) have all been added to the 2016 roster that also includes Stijn Devolder and Fränk Schleck.

Cancellara confirms Giro d’Italia participation

With a prominent Italian co-sponsor on board, Trek-Segafredo will look to make an impression at the Giro d’Italia, where Fabian Cancellara will line up for the first time since 2009 with the stated aim of wearing the maglia rosa for the first time in what will be his final season a professional.

“It’ll be flat out all season because I’ve still got goals to achieve,” Cancellara said on Wednesday. “It won’t be a goodbye season, I want to get on the podium in Classics and I’ll be at the Giro d’Italia. I’ve never worn pink and so it’s a goal for my last season. The Giro also starts in the Netherlands and with Segafredo and Mapei Sport with us it’s important. I won the 1999 Worlds [junior time trial – ed.] which passed the Segafredo headquarters. It seems a perfect story for my final season.”

The son of an immigrant from Puglia, Cancellara’s ties to his father’s country continued as a professional, and he noted that his Trek team’s new links with Segafredo and the Mapei training centre mark an appropriate way to bring the curtain down on a career that began in the colours of Mapei in 2000.

“I think I made the right choice to join Mapei. I raced as an under-23 in the Veneto [where Segafredo is based – ed.] and worked with Luca. That was my start,” Cancellara said. “Now everything seems to come together and it seems the best way to end things. My motivation has triplicated for next season.”

Moscow’s Dinamo Elektrostal are gearing up for their fifth EHL season having frequently picked off impressive wins but have yet to top their particular group in their previous attempts.

They did get the best of arch rivals Dinamo Ak-Bars in both the Russian Cup and the Prometheus International tournament to show they are knocking on the door.

There has been a reasonable level of turnover from 2020 with Anton Noshin, Evgenii Mokrousov, Aleksei Godenkov and Ivan Zuikov joining the newly formed TsOP Moskomsport outfit. Danill Karagodin, Mikhail Nekludov and Ilya Larikov have all retired.

Their replacements are mostly youngsters with Dmitry Zheleznyakov, Aleksei Samylkin, Petr Agapov, Ilia Bartenev, Andrei Gribanov and Oleg Kulakov joining their line-up.

Title : Active carbons as nanoporous materials for solving of environmental problems

However, up to now, the main carriers of catalytic additives have been mineral sorbents: silica gels, alumogels. This is obviously due to the fact that they consist of pure homogeneous components SiO2 and Al2O3, respectively. It is generally known that impurities, especially the ash elements, are catalytic poisons that reduce the effectiveness of the catalyst. Therefore, carbon sorbents with 5-15% by weight of ash elements in their composition are not used in the above mentioned technologies. However, in such an important field as a gas-mask technique, carbon sorbents (active carbons) are carriers of catalytic additives, providing effective protection of a person against any types of potent poisonous substances (PPS). In ESPE “JSC "Neorganika" there has been developed the technology of unique ashless spherical carbon carrier-catalysts by the method of liquid forming of furfural copolymers with subsequent gas-vapor activation, brand PAC. Active carbons PAC have 100% qualitative characteristics of the three main properties of carbon sorbents: strength - 100%, the proportion of sorbing pores in the pore space – 100%, purity - 100% (ash content is close to zero). A particularly outstanding feature of active PAC carbons is their uniquely high mechanical compressive strength of 740 ± 40 MPa, which is 3-7 times larger than that of  such materials as granite, quartzite, electric coal, and is comparable to the value for cast iron - 400-1000 MPa. This allows the PAC to operate under severe conditions in moving and fluidized beds.  Obviously, it is time to actively develop catalysts based on PAC sorbents for oil refining, petrochemicals, gas processing and various technologies of organic synthesis.

Victor M. Mukhin was born in 1946 in the town of Orsk, Russia. In 1970 he graduated the Technological Institute in Leningrad. Victor M. Mukhin was directed to work to the scientific-industrial organization "Neorganika" (Elektrostal, Moscow region) where he is working during 47 years, at present as the head of the laboratory of carbon sorbents.     Victor M. Mukhin defended a Ph. D. thesis and a doctoral thesis at the Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology of Russia (in 1979 and 1997 accordingly).
