Social Experiment
In her SHOES is part of a movement that takes a stand against casual sexism. All over the world, a simple walk on the street is the start of worse problems that women face every day due to their appearance or the way they dress. Even in 2021, indulging in beauty is often seen as vain, selfish, or a call for attention. We believe that beauty is a source of strength, and a womanâs beauty should not be restricted, dictated, or judged.

ABOUT âCLUE: A WALKING Mysteryâ
The iconic family-favorite board game comes to life! Enter the world of CLUE in the interactive and immersive experience, CLUE: A Walking Mystery.
Have you ever wanted to solve a cold murder case? Have you ever wanted to inhabit the world of CLUE and unravel its mystery like a real detective? This is your chance.
CLUE: A Walking Mystery is an interactive, IRL game of the beloved board game. In this version, the murder was never solved, the mansion sold, and the furniture from all nine rooms has been auctioned off and scattered throughout a specified area. Players must find the furniture found at local businesses and solve puzzles within them to figure out WHO did it WHERE and with WHAT .

Frequently asked questions
What is "clue: a walking mystery".
CLUE: A Walking Mystery is an interactive, real-life experience based on the beloved board game. Detectives are greeted by the Butler and then sent on their way to solve a mystery, gathering clues from popular sites and shops in the surrounding area.
In this new spin on everyoneâs favorite mystery game, guests step into the roles of the ancestors of the beloved CLUE characters (Mayor Green, Colonel Mustard, Solicitor Peacock, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlett and Chef White) as detectives to solve the mystery of who murdered the elusive Mr. Boddy.
The case has gone cold, with the murderer still at large. All the furniture from Tudor Mansion has been auctioned off and scattered throughout the city. Determined to finally catch the culprit, the newly minted detectives must find the furniture located at local businesses and solve interactive puzzles within them to discover the clue left behind by the culprit. Piecing these clues together will allow players to figure out WHO did it WHERE and with WHAT.
DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO HAVE A TICKET? DO CHILDREN NEED A TICKET?
Yes, as this is a participatory experience, all present must have a ticket. Children 5 and under are free with admission, however, adults accompanying young detectives MUST PAY ADMISSION. We recommend this experience for gumshoes ages 8 and over. Paying adults are to accompany anyone under age 16.
ARE THERE DISCOUNTS?
We may occasionally release âcluesâ on our socials for special discounts. However, purchasing a ticket does entitle players to exclusive discounts at shops and eateries along the way.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO CHOOSE A CHARACTER AT THE POINT OF PURCHASE?
Like the board game, CLUE, this game also asks that everyone assume a character to play the game correctly. There is a limit of five detectives per character. However, no acting is necessary to play the game.
WHAT IF I WANT TO BUY MORE THAN FOUR TICKETS FOR TEAM PEACOCK?
If you have more than four teammates, you can purchase a ticket under another available characterâs name. When you arrive for your game, find a representative (Butler) and they can manually move you to your desired team.
DO I HAVE TO PARTICIPATE? OR CAN I JUST WATCH? WHAT IF IâM AN INTROVERT?
Introverts welcome! Youâll be solving the case with your own team at your own speed, so you never have to interact with other teams if you donât want to.
HOW MUCH WALKING IS INVOLVED AND HOW LONG DOES THE EXPERIENCE TAKE?
All locations are within the same general vicinity and are wheelchair accessible.
There is no time limit, but to visit each location should take anywhere from one hour to 90 minutes. However, some players have made an entire afternoon out of it, taking advantage of the discounts from each business.
HOW DO WE FIND OUT WHO DID IT, (WITH) WHAT AND WHERE!?
The game concludes with the full group of suspects gathering with the Butler to deduce the answer together.
DO WE GET A PRIZE FOR SOLVING THE CASE?
Youâll receive the satisfaction of being the best sleuth on the street and knowing Mr. Boddy will finally rest in peace.
ARE THERE AGE RESTRICTIONS FOR THE EXPERIENCE?
CLUE: A Walking Mystery is a family friendly event and is recommended for ages 8 and over with adults accompanying minors. Children 2 and younger may attend free of charge with a paying adult or guardian.
WHAT IF I ARRIVE LATE?
Please check in as usual and you will be added to the next case with availability.
I PURCHASED TICKETS FOR THE WRONG TIME. CAN I EXCHANGE?
We understand even the best detectives make a mistake! Please reach out to the organizer via your ticketing platform to make the necessary changes.
CAN I GET A REFUND?

12 Virtual Walking Trails Around the World That You Can Experience Right Now (Video)
Be whisked away to the mountains of Switzerland or the rugged Oregon coastline.
Evie Carrick is a writer and editor whoâs lived in five countries and visited well over 50. She now splits her time between Colorado and Paris, ensuring she doesn't have to live without skiing or L'As du Fallafel.
In a matter of weeks, the terms shelter in place, self-isolation, and quarantine have become buzzwords, giving definition to many peopleâs new reality: staying home. Zoom happy hours have replaced post-work drinks and once-neglected home projects are finally getting finished.
But there are only so many Zoom calls to arrange and tasks around the house to complete. When your home begins to feel more like a cell and less like a refuge, it might be time to make an escape. And while you may not be able to hop in your car and head to the nearest state park, virtual walking routes can provide a mental escape from the norm. Plus, according to Psychology Today , âStudies suggest that viewing even an image of a tree or a forest canopy bolsters the parasympathetic division of the central nervous system that naturally induces calm.â
And in todayâs world, an added sense of calm is essential.
These virtual walking routes and trails deliver new landscapes, fresh perspectives, and plenty of calm-inducing flora while transporting you all over the world. You can enjoy the view from your exercise bike or at-home treadmill, or cozy up on your couch and allow yourself to be whisked away to the mountains of Switzerland or the rugged Oregon coastline.

The Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Self-Guided Walking Tour
Airing on TV screens in 170 countries, Game of Thrones is most popular show in the world. While the series is filmed in about 7 different countries, Dubrovnik is used to film most of the exterior shots of King’s Landing. I didn’t start watching the show until right before my trip to Croatia, and then I binge watched the series so that I could be one of the cool kids. Keep reading for comparison photos, maps and an easy self-guided, Dubrovnik Game of Thrones walking tour.
Tips for the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Walking Tour
SAVE MONEY BY PURCHASING A DUBROVNIK CARD. Not only does it give you access to the walls and Fort Lovrijenac, but it includes admission to Rector’s Palace as well (all sights you will be visiting on the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones tour). A 1 day Dubrovnik Card costs 190HRK ($30USD) or 171HRK($27USD) online . If you purchase the admissions separately, the walls cost 150HRK ($24USD includes entrance to Fort Lovrijenac), and admission to Rector’s Palace is 100HRK ($16).
Buy the Dubrovnik Card HERE
PURCHASE YOUR DUBROVNIK CARD OR CITY WALL TICKETS BEFORE STARTING THE TOUR You must purchase tickets outside of Old Town’s Pile Gate. Do it before you begin the tour so you don’t have to backtrack
SET YOUR OWN PACE I’ve separated the tour into 3 parts. You can choose to do the whole tour in 1 day, or split it up into sections to work with your vacation and schedule.
START EARLY If you choose to complete the tour in 1 day, know that there is a lot of ground to cover, so start early! As of August 2017, the mayor is in talks to limit the number of tourists inside the city walls at one time to 4,000. Arriving early will ensure your entry.
QUEUE UP THE THEME SONG Download the Game of Thrones theme song to your phone and use it as background music while you wander through the streets. Trust me, you won’t be the only one.
BRING WATER Pack a water bottle, and re-fill it as you go. There are several fountains with drinkable water throughout the city.
SAVE THE GOOGLE MAP Within the city walls, Dubrovnik is tiny and the streets are narrow. I’ve listed directions to all the locations but some streets may not have signs. Referring to the pins on the Google Map will be the easiest way to locate the next spot during the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones tour. Most are within 2-5 minutes from each other.
THE DUBROVNIK GAME OF THRONES SELF GUIDED WALKING TOUR
The Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Walking Tour is separated into 3 parts, Old Town + Fort Lovrijenac, The City Walls and Lokrum Island. You can do the whole tour in 1 day, or split it up into sections to work with your vacation and schedule. On the Google map above, the markers are color coded.
Yellow: Sites along the city walls | Green: Sites on Lokrum Island | Purple: Sites at Pile Bay and Fort Lovrijenac | Teal: Sites within Old Town Dubrovnik | Peach: Additional Locations Off the Beaten Path
If you choose to do the tour in one day, I recommend doing all three parts in order as outlined below.
SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT
PART I: Old Town and Fort Lovrijenac
Fort lovrijenac.
Begin the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Tour standing in front of Pile Bay.
To get here, begin at the main square right outside of Pile Gate. Walk away from Old Town on the left side of the street, and turn left on Ul. Svetog Durda, walking toward the water. Wind your way down this street until you reach the entrance of the bay.
You’ll recognize the multiple areas of Pile Bay (aka Blackwater Bay) from several episodes in the series:
To your right is a little middle earth-esque cliffside staircase. During season 2 episode 1, King Joffrey orders all of Robert Baratheon’s bastard children to be killed so that they don’t threaten his claim to the throne. One of the scenes shows the Gold Cloaks raiding homes here.
To the left, around the wall, you’ll see the pebble shoreline where the Lannisters stood on the shore and sent Myrcella off to Dorne in Season 2 episode 6.
It’s also where Cersei meets the boat after Jamie brings Myrcella back to King’s Landing in season 6 episode 1.
On the Jetty straight ahead is where Sansa and Shae sit while playing a guessing game about the ships ahead in season 3 episode 1. Littlefinger approaches and talks to Sansa about getting her out of King’s Landing.
From Pile Bay turn right and start to walk up the steps (there are about 200..) to Fort Lovrijenac. Entrance into the fortress is free with your ticket to the city walls.
Fort Lovrijenac is the filming location of The Red Keep: the residence of the King of the Andals and the capital of the Seven Kingdoms.
When you first enter the fortress you’ll see a long corridor to your left, which you might remember from Season 2 episode 1, when Cersei and Littlefinger talk about finding Arya. He lets on that he knows about her relationship with Jamie quoting “knowledge is power.” She threatens his life stating “power is power.”
Head upstairs to assault yourself with one of the best views of Old Town Dubrovnik. You’ll also be standing in the same spot as the filming location for King Joffrey’s Nameday Tournament in season 2 episode 1.
Fort Lovrijenac Address: Ul. od Tabakarije 29, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
After spending some time wandering around Fort Lovrijenac, exit the fortress and make your way back to Old Town’s Pile Gate.
Old Town Dubrovnik
There are two entrances to Old Town Dubrovnik, Pile Gate and Ploce Gate. The entrance to Pile Gate was used in season 3 episode 10 when Jamie arrives in King’s Landing to visit his sister.
As you walk through Pile Gate, you’ll be standing in a long entryway. This was where the King’s Landing riot was filmed in season 2 episode 6. After the Lannisters see Mrycella off to Dorne, they’re met with an angry crowd of townspeople. Someone throws fruit at King Joffrey and a riot ensues. The doorway at the end of the corridor (which in reality leads to a little park) is where Sansa runs to try and escape the men chasing her.
Pile Gate Address: Ul. Vrata od Pila, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Continue walking through the entryway into Dubrovnik’s Old Town. The busy main street straight ahead is the Stradun, start to walk down it and turn left down Ul. Gariste. I believe it’s the second small alleyway on the right. When you hit Ul. Za Rokom, turn left, then right on Ul. od Domina. Finally make a sharp right onto Ul. od Rupa and the Ethnographic Museum will be on your right hand side.
Ethnographic Museum
The next stop on the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones tour is the Ethnographic Museum. This was used to film exterior shots of Littlefinger’s brothel. You’ll see it in season 4 episode 1 when Tyrion asks to speak to Oberyn Martell outside, and again in season 5 episode 3 when Lancel Lannister humiliates the The High Septon by making him walk naked through the street.
Ethnographic Museum Address: 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
From the Ethnographic Museum, It’s about a 5 minute walk to the Jesuit steps. Turn around and head back down Ul. od Rupa. Make a sharp left on Ul. od Domina, then make a right onto Ul. od Puca. T urn right onto GunduliÄeva poljana. The stairs are tucked back past GunduliÄeva poljana square on Ul. uz Jezuite and they’re easy to spot.
Jesuit Staircase
The Jesuit Staircase is an important location in Season 5. We first see it in episode 1 as Cersei arrives to the funeral and walks up the steps past the mourners and into The Great Sept, making everyone wait.
They appear in episode 3 when Cersei rides up to Margaery’s wedding, and again in episode 4 when Tommen wants to see the High Sparrow but is blocked.
Of course, the Jesuit Steps played a major role in the finale of season 5 during Cersei’s walk of atonement. During my visit, I witnessed a fan re-enacting this scene while ringing a gong whose sounds echoed through the streets..
Jesuit Steps Address: Ul. Josipa Jurja Strossmayera 2, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
From the bottom of the Jesuit Staircase, head back down Ul. od Jezuite and turn right on GunduliÄeva poljana. Walk past the Troubador Jazz Cafe and then turn right towards the Stradun. Rector’s Palace will be on your right. It’s a 2 minute walk from the steps.
Rectors Palace
Rector’s Palace receives a cameo in season 2 episode 6 as a background for the Spice King’s palace in Qarth. The Spice King and his entourage stand on the staircase as Daenerys asks the him about acquiring ships to cross the Narrow Sea.
Admission Fee: Entrance into Rector’s Palace is free with the Dubrovnik Card or admission is 100KN ($16 USD).
Rector’s Palace Address: Ul. Pred Dvorom 3, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Leaving Rector’s Palace, turn right toward the Stradun. When you reach the small square at the end, you’ll see a large arched entryway on your right side. Go through it and follow St. Dominic Street for about 3 minutes (Don’t go out onto the port). You’ll see the staircase on your left hand side. It’s a 4-5 minute walk from Rector’s Palace.
St. Dominic Street
As Tyrion and Bronn are walking through the streets in season 2 episode 5, they witness a protest speech regarding King Joffrey. The speaker stands on top of the staircase on St. Dominic Street.
Keep following St. Dominic Street in the same direction until you reach Dubrovnik’s second gate, Ploce Gate. It’s a 1-2 minute walk.
Dubrovnik’s Ploce Gate and Revelin Fortress were used as one of the entrances of The Red Keep. It’s the gate Cersei enters after her walk of shame in season 5 episode 10.
Ploce Gate also served as background in season 2 episode 5 when Tyrion talks with Lancel Lannister.
From Ploce Gate head back the way you came on St. Dominic’s street and turn left onto the port. If you’re doing the tour in 1 day, it’s time to hop on a boat to Lokrum Island. If not, you can pick up here tomorrow.
PART II: Lokrum Island
Lokrum is Dubrovnik’s closest island. It takes less than 15 minutes to get to by boat. Head onto the pier and look for the Lokrum Ferry. An employee will be waiting in front of the boat selling tickets which cost 40HRK ($6.40 USD).
The ferry will drop you off at Lokrum’s port. Walk straight up the path onto the island and you’ll run into to the Lokrum Visitors Center.
Lokrum Visitor’s Center
Lokrum Visitor’s Center currently has a special Game of Thrones exhibit. You can watch interviews with the cast and producers about how they logistically film in Dubrovnik. Most people weren’t watching the videos, but I highly recommend sitting in on 1 or 2. They were fascinating.
The Visitor’s Center is also home to the infamous Iron Throne, which you’re free to sit on.
From the Visitor’s Center make your way to the Benedictine Monastery (1-2 minute walk). The gardens were difficult for me to find. It looks like you’re entering a cafe, but walk through the entryway and you’ll find yourself in Qarth.
Benedictine Monastery
Lokrum Island has been used to film exterior scenes in the city of Qarth. You’ll most likely remember the garden party scene in season 2 episode 5, where Daenerys attends the party and meets the warlocks.
If you choose to spend some time on Lokrum Island before making your way back to the mainland, check out this article for a list of things to do ( Things to Do in Dubrovnik That Aren’t Old Town). If not, head back to the ferry and get on the next boat for Dubrovnik
PART III: The City Walls
The last stop on the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones tour is the city walls! If you’re getting off the boat from Lokrum, the easiest entrance to the city walls is near the Ploce Gate entrance on St. Dominic Street. Otherwise you can go to any of the 3 entrances/exits: near Pile Gate, St. John’s Fortress (next to the Maritime Museum), or Ploce Gate.

View of King’s Landing
If entering from the Ploce Gate entrance, walk counter clockwise and head up the wall toward the west side and Minceta Tower. The entire North side of the wall gives you an amazing view of Dubrovnik (minus the CGI) which is used for many establishing shots of King’s Landing.
Minecta Tower
Minceta Tower is located on the far Northwest corner of the walls. You can’t miss it.
Minceta Tower was used as the exterior location for the House of the Undying. Daenerys travels here in season 2 episode 10 after her dragons are stolen. She circles the tower looking for an entrance as Jorah follows behind.
Practice Field
Heading counter-clockwse from Minceta Tower, you’ll start approaching the practice field, directly off the right hand side of the wall.
The practice field is where Cersei visits The Mountain and she chooses him as her champion in Tyrion’s trial during season 4 episode 7.
In season 5 episode 4, the practice field is also where Loras is arrested by the Faith Militant.
Bokar Fortress
Continuing to walk counter-clockwise, Bokar Fortress is only a 2-3 minute walk from the practice field. It sits directly in front of Fort Lovrijenac.
Several scenes were filmed on Bokar Fortress from the city walls. In season 2 episode 8, Tyrion and Lord Varys walk around on top of the fortress while discussing war. You can see Fort Lovrijenac in the background of some shots, and the seaside wall in others.
In season 7 episode 1, Cersei and Jaime stand on Bokar Fortress and watch the Iron Fleet arrive.
Need Even More Dubrovnik Game of Thrones Immersion?
If you finish the Dubrovnik Walking Tour and find yourself wanting more, check out these other filming locations which are a little less easily accessible.
Trsteno Arboretum
25 minutes away by car is Tresteno Arboretum, a popular go-to location for the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones unit. The arboretum doubles as the Red Keep’s gardens so many scenes have been shot here. You can also see the bridge used in season 4 episode 3, when Ser Dontos helps Sansa get into a boat and escape King’s Landing.
From the gardens, head down to the beach and see where Bronn teaches Jaimie to fight with his left hand in season 4 episode 4.
How to get to Tresteno Arboretum: From the Main Bus Station in Dubrovnik, catch the local bus (12 or 15) to Tresteno. The journey lasts about 30 minutes. Check the timetable in advance as there are only about 8 buses per day.
Admission to Tresteno Garden: 45HRK ($7 USD)
Hotel Belvedere
Hotel Belvedere is an abandoned luxury hotel that was destroyed by the war in 1991. The hotel has since been re-purchased is currently undergoing a remodel but I have seen reports of people getting inside. Do so at your own risk.
Villa Sheherezade
Walk along the shoreline from Ploce Gate and you’ll find yourself at Villa Sheherezade in about 10 minutes.
The villa is an exclusive luxury rental so you won’t be allowed on the property, but you can rent it for about 7,000 euro per night. Not bad, right?
The exterior shots of Illryo’s mansion in Pentos were filmed here.
Address of Villa Sheherezade : Ul. Vlaha Bukovca 2, 20000, Dubrovnik, Croatia
Gradac Park
From Fort Lovrijenac, Gradac park is about a 5-10 minute walk. Head West on Ul. od Tabakarije and then make a sharp left onto Ul. don Frana Bulica
This was used at the location for King Joffrey’s wedding reception aka The Purple Wedding in season 4 episode 2.
And that’s it! Once you finish the Dubrovnik Game of Thrones tour check out these other things to do in Dubrovnik:

Such beautiful places and post, I’m dreaming of visiting! I love how you included shots from the series alongside đ xx

Thank you so much for sharing this! We followed your entire post and saved so much money by avoiding the expensive guided tours. It was great having the comparison shots and the detailed descriptions. Amazing!!!
Hey Lena, Thank you for your feedback!! I really appreciate it and I’m so happy you liked the tour đ
Fantastic info thank you so much!! Just back in my room for a brief siesta, a cold beer and a planning session for the evening and stumbeled onto your blog. Have seen some of these sites already but your walk gives such great direction and the photos are so helpful i’ll retrace my steps tonight! Loving every bit of Croatia and enjoying the view from my room of Fort Lovrjenac!
Hey Melody! Thank you so much for your comment and for making me jealous of your view, itinerary and beer haha. Have so much fun in Croatia!!
So much work and imagination to put all of that together. I was truly mind boggled with the cleverness of it all. You should forward to Rick Steves and show him how it’s done. Fantastic.
Hi! This is so helpful! Thank you very much for posting in a such detailed manner. We are great fans of GOT and we are going to exactly follow your recommendations!
Hi JB! This makes me so happy, I hope you love it as much as I did!
Thank you for an amazing article, this helped alot!
I’m so glad! Thanks for letting me know! Enjoy Dubrovnik đ
Omg this is an amazing tour. You have done an amazing job with your directions and descriptions of the scenes. The photos also bring the memories back from each episode too. One question We will be arriving on a cruise ship at 8am and leaving at 5pm. Do you think this is doable? Also catching the ferry over to lokrum island too. I feel it is, even though it looks very extensive I feel it could be done with in our time frame. What are your thoughts Please? Thank you again Dianne
Hi Dianne! I do think it’s doable but it’ll be a pretty busy day so make sure to have all everything planned out, including food stops. The city is small but the locations are spread out so you’ll be covering a lot of ground.
I was surprised at how much time walking the city walls took. When you’re on the walls, keep track of where the exits are. I think there are only 3 entrance/exit points total.. so to save time, it might be better for you to walk backward and exit near Pile Gate, rather than walking the remainder of the perimeter (after visiting the last location on the walls).
Let me know if you have any other questions and good luck!!
Thanks so much for this blog. I did stacks if it today. You’re a legend!
Thank you Liezel! Glad you found it useful đ
I’m going to be taking a cruise in July that will stop in Dubrovnik. Docking at 1:00 and leaving at 7:00. I know I won’t be able to get to all of these spots. Big cruise ship that will probably dock at the new port north of the old city. I can do one of the cruise excursions that is a GOT tour but I’d rather follow yours. Do you think I can get to and from the port and see Fort Lovrijenec and the walls?
Hi Lisa! Yes definitely. There is a bus station at the port which will drop you off right in front of the Old City and Fort Lovrijenac. The journey is only 5 minutes. Fort Lovrijenac is right outside of the Old City walls, so you can access both very easily.
Hi Lindsey I really want to thank you for the wonderful job you’ve done putting together this tour! My husband and I’ve been to dubrovnik on a cruise one day trip and being big GoT fans tried to find a self guided tour based on the series. Well yours was definitely the best choice! We’ve followed through all part one and two and have been amazed by every part of it! Thousand times thank you! I’ve also linked your great job to my review on trip advisor hoping it will be helpful to other Italian people getting there!
Hi Ilaria! Thank you so much for taking the time to come back and comment! I’m so glad you found the tour helpful and I really appreciate you spreading the word on Trip Advisor!
Hope you loved Dubrovnik đ Lindsey
We are currently visiting Dubrovnik for 2 days from Normandy (France) and we loved your self guided tour !! The rector palace was closed for rebuilding but we found most of the stops. Thank you very much !
Hi Dalneah! Thank you so much for coming back and letting me know, I’m so happy you loved the tour.
Also thanks for the update on Rector’s Palace, I will include a note in the post for others.
Happy travels! Lindsey
Great post!! Going there next month and planning on following it step by step!
Have an amazing time in Croatia!! Thank you letting me know đ
Dear Lindsey, Thank you for this amazing tour guide! I spent so much time preparing for our visit to Dubrovnik, and you managed to compile the most important information here with a great choice of pictures. Wonderfully done! Million thanks!!!
Hi Vera! Thank you for taking the time to comment! Hope you enjoy the tour đ
Wow thank you so much for posting this article. My husband and I will be going to Croatia on a small cruise in Sept and this will help us so much. You really have done such an amazing job putting this information together. I do have one question you may know, how long is the Croatia/Dubrovnik pass valid for ? We will have to break up the tour by doing one part at the beginning of the cruise the last bit at the end, and was wondering if the pass will still be valid.
Hi Vicki! First of all, thank you so much for your kind words! Unfortunately, the Dubrovnik Card lasts for only 24 hours from the first time it’s scanned. They have a 3 day and 7 day card as well but monetarily, that might not make sense. Another suggestion would be to try and do the walls + Fort Lovrijenac on one day (using the Dubrovnik card), and then for the 2nd day you could do Lokrum and Old Town (buying tickets to Rector’s Palace a la carte).
Hope this help! Lindsey
Hey! This tour is great! Unfortunately none of the pictures are loading, are you doing maintenance on this site?
Hi Sophie, thank you SO much for letting me know. I had no idea there was an issue. I’m working on getting it fixed asap and I’ll let you know when the images are back up!
I am so glad to find this site. I am heading there tomorrow. Hopefully I can see all that I need to in 1 day. Your photo comparisons are awesome and I’m hoping to do some of my own, perhaps even with more recent scenes from the show. Thanks for this
Happy to hear it was helpful! Have fun!!
The images are back up. Thank you again for letting me know!
Hi Lindsey,
Thank-you so much for your wonderful blog. It is exactly what I was looking for! I am visiting in a couple of weeks and will definitely be using this. I am going with a 16 year old and a 5 year old. I was thinking of doing part 1 and part 3 on the same day to ensure that I don’t let the 1 day card run out and then have a more relaxed day on the second day and visit Lokrum. Do you think this would work? Do you think that I am being a bit ambitious with a 5 year old in tow! Thanks for your help!
Hi Liz! It’s definitely possible to do part 1 and 3 in the same day. That’s how I did it when I was putting together the tour! I don’t have kids so I’m not sure what it’s like to travel with a 5 year old but I imagine it might be a lot of ground to cover with a little one. I remember it taking a lot longer walk the perimeter of the walls than I had imagined, so a short attention span might get a little tired after awhile. With that said, you can always download the Google map with the points of interest and cut out certain stops if it gets to be too much. Hope this helps! Good luck!
This was such a great guide, we went to Dubrovnik earlier last month and we intended to do a select few of the shots, thanks to you it was so easy to identify where they were!
Hi Jamie, Amazing! Thank you so much for coming back to let me know!
This was awesome…i could find everything… except for the Lokrum part as the island is closed in the winters… however i found a game of thrones merchandise shop where they had the iron throne and a big sword….u have to buy a souvenir to sit on the throne and take photos ….special for the Google map pins
Oh good to know! Thanks for the update đ
Thank you so much for all of this information!!! I’m planning my trip and was a little anxious about getting on those guided tours with a lot of people and not getting the complete information with it. But you, your photos and details saved me!! Thank you so much!
Hi Josi, I’m so glad you found this helpful! I hope you love Dubrovnik đ Have a great trip!
Great post, definitely going to do this as opposed to a paid tour. How long would you reccomend it takes to do the full thing?
I feel like I could get it done in one day (getting a bus in from Split early morning). Do you have any reccomendations for food as we go round please? And for anything else to do in Dubrovnik whilst we are there?
Thank you very much, Ciaran
Hi Ciaran, There’s a cool restaurant called Panorama Restaurant that you can take the cable car to. The views are incredible and the food was good. As far as the tour goes, we split it up into a few days but if you want to do the whole thing, including Lokrum island, it will be a full day. Here’s a link to a handful of posts I did about Dubrovnik, with more recommendations for what to do. Have fun!
https://hellojetlag.com/category/europe/croatia/
Hi Just back from Dubrovnik. Great time and your guide very helpful. Update cable car rides suspended indefinitely as result of breaches of safety operating procedures by the operator.
Hi James! Wow, that’s a bummer. Thanks so much for the update, I will add a disclaimer to my posts.
I just love you so much right now lol ;P
I was just searching for the perfect GOT tour on Viator, Get your Guide, etc and I found this pearl. Loved not only the step by step from every scene, but also the suggestion of getting the Dubrovnik Card. Thank you so much, I am totally doing it by myself now (I’m traveling in Sep with my husband)
haha yesss! So glad to be able to help. I hope you love Dubrovnik đ
Hi We are coming in May and want to do the GOT tour but we will only have the morning. We are keen to see the throne and sit in it Can you please advise which tour we should take? Thank you
I would recommend either Fort Lovrijenac and/or the sites within the Old Town Walls (purple and teal on my tour) to see the most in a short period of time.
The throne is on Lokrum Island so it does take up time getting there and back. There is a replica throne at the Dubrovnik City Shop souvenir store. I believe it’s plastic but if you look up pictures, you can’t really tell so it could possibly suffice.
Have fun! Lindsey
Hi. Thank you so much for posting the information about seeing the places where Game of Thrones were filmed. We are so excited. We are coming in on a cruise for a day. Do you have suggestions on how to get to the port to where we can start your walking tour? What is the best way? Taxi? Do you know how far it is from the port? I read somewhere you had to pay to get into the “inner city walls” is that true and will we need to do that? Thank you so much! We are going in September and trying to plan ahead. Hoping we can do this on our own and not have to pay for the expensive tour that the cruise ship offers. Thank you!! Any suggestions you may have would be wonderful!
Hi Nicolette, The port is 3km (1.8 miles) away. I stayed outside of Old Town and the bus that took me to there always made a stop in front of the cruise ships, so check info on the local bus lines. I believe it was line 1. Taxis and Uber are also available in Dubrovnik. Yes, it costs money to walk the walls. I have info within this post about it but I would double check recent prices as they might’ve been raised. I believe it is 200kn per person in 2021. Have fun!
Hi. I just sent a comment. Was also wondering if there was a way to contact some of the people that have done your walking tour to see if they had recommendations. Thanks
We completed your self guided tour. Want to say thank you for taking the time to put together such great map. Highly recommend to any GOT Fan.
Thank you so much for letting me know!!

How to plan an architectural walking tour of Kaunas, Lithuaniaâs capital of culture
With its medieval Old Town and baroque monastery sitting alongside a modernist ensemble recently awarded World Heritage status, Kaunas is the perfect place to unravel the architectural paradoxes of the Baltic states.
Located 64 miles west of Vilnius, the Lithuanian capital, Kaunas is a small city of less than half a million people that often goes unnoticed. But to those in the know, its interwar architecture is every bit as valuable as Rigaâs Art Nouveau gems or Tallinnâs gothic beauties. This was validated in late 2023 when UNESCO added Modernist Kaunas to the World Heritage register and in 2022 when Kaunas was awarded the title of  European Capital of Culture .
When Kaunas was chosen as Lithuaniaâs provisional capital in 1920, it ushered in two decades of rapid development, giving rise to an architectural golden age. The cityâs history reaches much further back, however, and a survey of the skyline shows that Kaunas was able to embrace progress without turning its back on the past. Modernism flourished in the presence of gothic, baroque and neo-byzantine architecture, fusing the styles of the day with references to Lithuaniaâs rich vernacular.
To best discover the cityâs architectural highlights, dedicate a full day to cover Kaunasâs core and the nearby PaĹžaislis Monastery on foot, calling on the funicular and trolleybus system as required.
Christâs Resurrection Church
Start by orienting yourself with a sweeping view from the rooftop observation deck at Christâs Resurrection Church. Positioned atop Ĺ˝aliakalnis  (âGreen Hillâ), the largest basilica in the Baltic states deviates from other Roman Catholic designs with its sharp lines and soaring skyscraper-like verticality. Sketched out in the days following Lithuaniaâs independence from the Russian Empire in 1918, the churchâs cornerstone was laid in 1934, though its construction was halted by the Soviet occupation two decades later. Repurposed as a radio factory, its long overdue consecration only came in 2004. On nearby OĹžeĹĄkienÄs Street, the 1937 Evangelical Reformed Church is a scaled-down version of Christâs Resurrection, complete with a miniature duplicate of its 230ft-tall tower.
Putvinskio Street
Descend Ĺ˝aliakalnis  by funicular to Putvinskio Street, where Kaunasâs unique brand of modernism is on proud display. An assortment of buildings were constructed in the New Town between 1919 and 1939, with architects synthesising deco, Bauhaus and functionalist tenants to carve out their own oeuvre. An easy stroll down tree-lined Putvinskio reveals a gamut of notable addresses, many of them private apartment houses for prominent physicians, lawyers and city officials. Highlights include the imposing MK Äiurlionis Museum of Art , dedicated to the Lithuanian painter-composer, and the Antanas Ĺ˝muidzinaviÄius residence , which now displays its patronâs unusual sculpture collection under the auspices of the Devilsâ Museum . Further along the street, The Kaunas Artistsâ House , designed in 1930 by Vytautas Landsbergis-Ĺ˝emkalnis, features reading rooms and performance spaces.
The Amsterdam School Museum
From the eastern end of Putvinskio Street, skirt the park to find another iconic edifice. A lone example of the Amsterdam School architectural style, this convex facade was erected in 1928 by Jakub Peras. Set inside one of its 1,464sq-ft apartments, the Amsterdam School Museum , established by Karolis Banys and Petras GaidamaviÄius â the same duo behind the Art Deco Museum two blocks away â offers visitors a chance to cross the threshold and experience a preserved period interior. The five-room exhibition is a window onto life in the First Lithuanian Republic and the optimism of the interwar years. Set aside two hours for the tour â tickets should be purchased in advance.
LaisvÄs Avenue
Cross the road and head one block west to LaisvÄs (âLibertyâ) Avenue, one of Europeâs longest pedestrianised streets. Each step down this one-mile, tree-lined boulevard highlights a different side of Kaunasâs urban identity. Start with the neo-byzantine Church of St Michael the Archangel and culminate with the Central Post Office, another example of interwar architecture that artfully incorporates traditional Lithuanian flourishes including carved wooden windows. Pause for a pick-me-up at one of the sidewalk cafes then continue past the National Kaunas Drama Theatre , the Puppet Theatre and the spectacular State Musical Theatre . The latter was built in 1892 and reconstructed in 1925 with a neo-baroque style in mind.
PerkĹŤnas House
Leave the leafy avenues of the New Town behind and delve into the tightly wound cobbled streets of Kaunas Old Town. While here, make sure to visit the 14th-century, gothic Kaunas Castle , which houses an exhibition dedicated to its illustrious history. From here, pick a path through the low-rise buildings of the Old Town towards the riverfront, where the PerkĹŤnas House immediately distinguishes itself with its ornamental red brick facade. Built in the late 15th century by merchants of the Hanseatic League, its name actually honours Lithuaniaâs pre-Christian traditions (PerkĹŤnas being the Baltic god of thunder). The first drama theatre of Kaunas was established here in 1843, however at present PerkĹŤnas House belongs to the Jesuit Gymnasium, who are still known to host occasional performances.
PaĹžaislis Monastery
To end the day, hop on a trolleybus and follow the Nemunas river east. Situated on a peninsula close to the Kaunas Reservoir, PaĹžaislis Monastery dates to 1667 and is a paragon of baroque ideals. Italian architect Giovanni Battista Frediani endowed the complex with its rich marble interiors, while the 140 surviving frescoes were painted by Florentine master Mikelios Arkangelo Palonio. The largest monastery ensemble in Lithuania, it contains various crypts, a museum and a hotel-restaurant all of which is surrounded by parklands with hiking trails and river beaches. Every summer, the Sisters of St Casimir , a Roman Catholic community of women founded in 1907, hold the PaĹžaislis Music Festival at the monastery. This is Lithuaniaâs biggest classical music gala, set to take place on 31 May until 25 August, 2024. Â

Donât bet on New York gaming regulators winning any races.
A top Sands Casino official ripped state gaming regulators for a “confusing” years-long review process that means licenses in the Big Apple region are still months away.
âWeâre very disappointed by New York,â Rob Goldstein, CEO of Sands told investors on a first-quarter earnings call first reported on the gambling site playny.com .
Sands has pitched a $4 billion casino complex at the Nassau Coliseum site in Uniondale but the state gaming commission said it won’t decide as many as three new casino licenses in the New York City area until late 2025 â after nearly three years of preliminary discussions.
âWeâve been working there for a long time and we thought it would happen in 24 ⌠Now theyâre saying 25 or 26,â Goldstein said.
“I don’t think we have any clarity to be honest with you. It’s confusing and disappointing … I just don’t know about New York. We wish they’d figure it out and let us know,” he said in rare public criticism leveled at a regulator ruling on applications.
Still, Goldstein said he remained âhopeful that things [will] turn aroundâ in New York.Â
The foot-dragging pushes out the over-under on the earliest a gaming facility could open in the metro area to some time in 2026.
Sands is now saying publicly what other casino industry insiders and bidders have griped privately about the snails pace. But the longer time frame could benefit other bidders struggling to overcome community and political resistance.
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the Republican-led county legislature approved a 99-year lease for Sands to run a casino at the government owned Nassau Coliseum â if they ultimately win a state gaming license.
The Nassau-backed Sands bid has been beset by some opposition and legal challenges â led by Hofstra University.
Nassau on Friday announced it will rework its lease agreement with Sands after Hostra won a court ruling that determined county officials violated the open meetings and environmental laws when ramming through the initial approval last year.
Neighborhood and political support will be crucial in determining which bidders win the right to operate a casino in the New York City area.
Any casino bid must get sign off from the state Gaming Facility Location Board.
The review board in a particular area where a casino is being proposed includes the local council member, state senator and assemblyman, borough president and the mayor and governor.
Community boards have raised objections to some of the casino plans pitched in the city â notably the Related Companies /Wynn $12 billion gaming facility and officer tower complex for Hudson Yards and the Thor Equity consortium gaming facility complex along the Coney Island boardwalk .
Other casino projects include Mets owner Steve Cohenâs bid for a $8 billion project near Citi Field, Ballyâs at Ferry Point in the Bronx, and the Silverstein Properties in Hellâs Kitchen.
The Cohen and Ballyâs proposals also need a state law approved to convert use of their properties from parkland to commercial use.
Meanwhile, Genting-Resorts Worlds at Aqueduct racetrack and MGM-Empire City at Yonkers Raceway are seeking a license to add table games to their slots parlor.
Reached for comment, the Gaming Commission referred The Post to previous statements made by executive director Robert Williams, who insisted the timetable to award casino licenses is âahead of scheduleâ because Gov. Kathy Hochul and the state legislature have not anticipated revenues from casinos to help bankroll the MTA until 2026.
A winning bidder must pay an upfront $500 million license fee for the privilege of operating a casino.
The Hudson Yards, Citi Field, Coney Island and Bronx pitches would also have to first be approved under the cityâs lengthy Uniformed Land Use Review Procedure, the commission said.
âI have been informally advised that navigating the [land use] process will extend through the second quarter of 2025,â Williams said.
He said bidders will also have to undergo a separate state environmental scrutiny â under the State Environmental Quality Review Act that could take time.

2024 Zurich Classic live stream, TV schedule, where to watch online, channel, tee times, radio, golf coverage
Grab a partner as this team-style event on the pga tour wraps up sunday.
For the seventh straight year, golfers are in the Bayou taking part in the PGA Tour's annual team-style event. The 2024 Zurich Classic welcomed 80 teams of two as partners hoping to grab a trophy by week's end at TPC Louisiana.
Headlining the action are the two players who seemingly do everything together: Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The good friends were victorious in their first go around in 2022 but failed to defend their title a season ago. They started well this go-around but will need to make some major gains on Sunday if they hope to win two of three titles in New Orleans.
A new pairing making its debut features world No. 2 Rory McIlroy -- in his first tournament appearance -- playing alongside Shane Lowry. The duo, which has shared Ryder Cup success, is together near the top of the Zurich Classic leaderboard sitting just two strokes back entering the final 18 holes Sunday.
Follow Zurich Classic playoff coverage now that Round 4 has concluded.
Will Zalatoris and Sahith Theegala also entered as a strong duo on paper, as was the case with Collin Morikawa and Kurt Kitayama. Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor hoped to do one better than their runner-up performance in 2023 with Corey Conners and Taylor Pendrith also starring as an all-Canadian team. Brothers Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick team up for the second straight year with Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard, plus Parker and Pierceson Coody, also making this week a family affair.

Bucks injury updates: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard doubtful for Game 4 vs. Pacers
INDIANAPOLIS â The bruised and battered Milwaukee Bucks did not formally practice Saturday, but rather held a film session to try to regroup after a 121-118 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers on Friday that put them down 2-1 in their first-round playoff series.
With star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo still recovering from an April 9 left calf strain, and Khris Middleton having sprained a right ankle in Game 2 on April 23, Damian Lillard twisted a knee and aggravated an Achilles tendon issue in Game 3 .
Late Saturday afternoon Lillard was officially considered doubtful to play in Game 4 with right Achilles tendinitis and Antetokounmpo is doubtful with the calf strain. The good news is that Middleton was not on the initial injury report.
"We're one game away from being an even series," Bucks head coach Doc Rivers said earlier Saturday. "After three games â because I actually went to class at Marquette â the series is as close as it possibly could be after three games, when you think about it. I'll let you guys figure out the rest of that one. So, yeah, that's what we do. This is the playoffs. Things happen. Obviously you don't want injuries to happen but when they do, you have to just pull in for one game until you figure you get more guys back and that's how you have to do it."
Here's the latest on the three stars:
All things Bucks: Latest Milwaukee Bucks news, schedule, roster, stats, injury updates and more.
Giannis Antetokounmpo injury update
Antetokounmpo has been listed as doubtful to play in the first three games of the series but had been ruled out early before Games 2 and 3. The 29-year-old has been doing court work of some kind for the last two weeks but has yet to practice in full, though Rivers said, "He's working out (Sunday). He's going to go hard early and then we're going to make a decision after that."
But, the coach allowed that having that early workout casts doubt on Antetokounmpo's availability that same evening for Game 4. Sunday's game will be 19 days post-injury, and Game 5 on Tuesday in Milwaukee is three weeks. The Bucks have not clarified just how badly the muscle was strained, however.
Rivers has said all along Antetokounmpo doesn't need a live practice session to play, but after the game Friday the coach said there is no plan to get the 7-footer in a game and he will return âonly if heâs healthy. Weâre not going to rush anybody back. Itâs too dangerous to do that.â
Before the calf strain, Antetokounmpo missed regular season games due to tendinitis in his left Achilles tendon and soreness in his left hamstring. Â Â Â
This is the second straight first-round playoff series in which Antetokounmpo has missed games. Last season, he was undercut against Miami in Game 1, causing a back injury that sidelined him for most of that game and all of Games 2 and 3. He returned for Games 4 and 5.
He missed Games 5 and 6 of the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals with a left knee injury and the bulk of Game 4 and all of Game 5 of the 2020 first-round of the first-round âbubbleâ series with a sprained right ankle.
Damian Lillard injury update
Lillard quietly left the Bucks film session in a walking boot on his right foot to protect a strained Achilles tendon, which Rivers said left the all-star point guard's availability in doubt for Game 4. Lillard did get an MRI on the tendon.
"We don't know yet," Rivers said of his availability. "Not looking great, but we don't know yet."
Lillard originally tweaked the Achilles in the regular season finale in Orlando on April 14, which caused him to miss several practices during the âbye weekâ of April 15-20 as he recovered.
After the game Friday he had said hoped he'd be able to go in less than 48 hours before Sundayâs 6 p.m. CT tip-off.
âThatâs the plan,â Lillard said after the game. âI think tonight it was just so fresh, reaggravating it after having a whole week to get it together, but I just wanted to be on the floor in case opportunity came up or however I could help. Obviously tonight weâre gonna get back and just have to get ahead of it, because thatâs not something that you want to play with. Itâs one of those spots on your body where you literally canât, you canât do nothing about it. If you canât move, you canât move. So we have a couple of days tonight to start to just try to get ahead of it, just get it feeling better and get ready for Sunday.â
After tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbarâs 1970 record for most points in his first two playoff games for the franchise with 69 points, Lillard scored 28 points in Game 3 but was clearly affected by a tweaked left knee and the Achilles issue in going 6-for-20 from the field.
Khris Middleton injury update
Of the Bucks' three stars, Middleton is the one on track to play in Game 4 as Rivers said the three-time all-star didn't exit Game 3 with issues beyond his sprained right ankle.
Middleton was a game-time decision Friday and not only played through the sprain but tied Antetokounmpo (two times) for the fourth-greatest single-game scoring performance in Bucks playoff history in dropping a playoff career-high 42 points on the Pacers.
Only Antetokounmpo and Abdul-Jabbar have scored more in a postseason game.
Middleton also had 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the series and 14th of his postseason career in Milwaukee.
He also played a season-high 41 minutes.
"For the record, them being hurt does suck," Bucks wing Pat Connaughton said Saturday. "I think for us, it's our competitive nature. We believe we have a locker room of great players and we have guys that can have a 'next man up mentality' and can play. We have guys who have been situations and obviously delivered in the past, especially in the postseason. So making sure we lean on them. Some of them are dealing with injuries that aren't spoken about nearly as much or maybe even aren't spoken about at all. Just making sure that we don't let those things mentally let us off the hook. It's the playoffs.
"Everyone's dealing with something, on our side, on their side, how do we fight through it? How do we find ways to win one game, win a battle? Overall the series will be the war but try to win a battle on Sunday and make sure we do it together and make sure we pick each other up with whatever it might be."

PGA Tour Event Disrupted by Alligator Casually Walking Across Tee Box
- Author: Madison Williams
The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is used to having a special four-legged friend show up from time. to time on the course.
The guest, an alligator, halted play at the 17th hole during Thursday's first round. The groups of Bronson Burgoon and Jhonattan Vegas, along with Paul Barjon and Samuel Stevens, had to wait at the tee box for the alligator to cross in front of them before they could tee off. The animal didn't stop them from taking a few practice swings, though.
This isn't the first time an alligator has showed up at the Zurich Classic. The PGA Tour commentators reminded viewers that the tournament was used to a three-legged alligator gracing the course fittingly named "Tripod."
Now on the tee, from New Orleans, Louisiana ... A GATOR đ pic.twitter.com/N8wEJh1pQ1 â PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) April 25, 2024
The alligator walked across the tee box without causing any issues with any golfers or fans. But it definitely took its sweet time to walk across.
Both golfing duos ended up paring the 17th hole despite the distraction.

Trumpâs trial is the latest chapter in the rich history of Lower Manhattanâs courts.
A cluster of downtown buildings has served as the boroughâs âepicenter of criminal justice in New York since the 1830s,â said a lawyer who has led walking tours of Manhattan courthouses.
By Matthew Mpoke Bigg
- April 26, 2024
For a decade, Robert Pigott, a lawyer, has led walking tours of the courthouses of Manhattan, guiding visitors around landmarks where the cityâs rich legal history has played out. Now the trial of Donald J. Trump has added a chapter to the story he gets to tell.
Mr. Pigottâs tours, which he runs in his spare time, revolve around a cluster of downtown buildings that are the boroughâs judicial hub. For now, 100 Centre Street â the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where the former presidentâs case is being heard â is the focus.
But just down the street on Foley Square sits Manhattanâs most elegant courthouse building, New Yorkâs Supreme Court, with its sweeping flight of 32 stone steps leading up to a series of imposing Corinthian columns. Other court buildings are dotted around nearby.
âThe eyes of the nation and the world are trained on criminal court cases in New York County, whether itâs organized crime, Wall Street cases or federal cases,â Mr. Pigott said.
Mr. Trumpâs trial is remarkable because it is the first time that a former American president has been criminally prosecuted. The defendantâs status as this yearâs presumptive Republican presidential nominee adds a contemporary political dimension.
For Mr. Pigott, 64, who has written a book about the history of the cityâs courthouses, the real significance is what it says about the status of a few blocks of Manhattan as a nexus. He pointed out that Mr. Trumpâs civil fraud case and defamation case also both played out this year in courthouses within spitting distance of the criminal trial.
âNow, when I arrive at the expanse of Foley Square midway through the walk, I can point to something truly remarkable â three different courthouses where the same former U.S. president has been on trial,â he said.
Mr. Trumpâs trial shows how politics, celebrity and the location of the court itself can reinforce one another to make a big story bigger. New Yorkâs status as a media hub increases the spotlight during high-profile cases and the high-profile cases held over the decades have, in turn, made the cityâs courts an attractive setting for fictional courtroom dramas.
In these buildings, a jury convicted Anna Sorokin for grand larceny in 2019 for posing as a German heiress to swindle wealthy New Yorkers â a case that almost by definition blurred fact and fiction. Naturally, the tale has since been turned into a series on Netflix.
The cluster is also where a group of Black and Latino teenagers, then known as the Central Park Five, were wrongly convicted in 1990 of raping a jogger â a case also rendered as a Netflix series â and where Mark David Chapman pleaded guilty in 1981 to murdering the musician John Lennon.
The New York Supreme Court building, a trial-level court, often serves as a symbol of the court complex. It featured prominently in the television show âLaw and Order" and the 1957 courtroom film classic â12 Angry Men,â to cite just two examples.
Mr. Pigott, however, is drawn to the history of the legal system before the 20th century and how it evolved through its buildings. The first stop on the tours he runs is a sidewalk nearby with glass blocks embedded in it, through which it is possible to see the excavations of a courthouse built by the Dutch in the colonial era.
The authorities in New York built a judicial infrastructure in this part of Lower Manhattan starting mainly in the 19th century, when the area experienced significant gang violence, he said.
âThis one-block radius has been the epicenter of criminal justice in New York since the 1830s,â said Mr. Pigott.
For all the drama associated with the Trump trial, the streets outside the criminal courthouse have generally been calm this week. Reporters and members of the public have lined up for entry to the courthouse. And on Thursday morning, Collect Pond Park across the street, which has been designated for protests, was empty. Its only occupants were some police officers and a few pigeons.
