5 adrenaline-pumping adventures in 2023

Paddleboarding an iconic river, trekking a remote mountain trail, or cycling a “Great Ride,” here’s where to find your next big adventure.

Wondering where to go next? You’re not the only one. After a frenetic return to travel, many are asking how to enjoy the rush of discovery without the crush of crowds. Our annual list of 25 inspiring and less visited destinations for the year ahead encompasses places filled with wonder, rewarding to travelers of all ages, and supportive of local communities and ecosystems. Reported by our global editors and framed by five categories ( Adventure , Nature , Family , Culture , and Community ), these destinations are under the radar, ahead of the curve, and ready for you to start exploring.

Help to sustain an adventurer’s ultimate playground

With five national parks and eight national monuments, Utah is an adventurer’s dream destination. But outdoor lovers tend to visit only a small and iconic group of destinations, such as Zion National Park . Now the Utah Office of Outdoor Recreation has created an innovative grant program to help fund new initiatives throughout the state, including the Zion National Park Forever Project .

In Zion, known for its dramatic narrow canyons and towering sandstone cliffs, work began in 2022 on a new visitor center on the park’s east side. The hope is to draw some of Zion’s five million   annual   visitors away from the crowded main south entrance and popular trails like Angels Landing. In addition to the visitor center, plans include 30-plus miles of new mountain biking trails and 40 miles of hiking trails outside the east entrance.

Other recent projects awarded grants include a bike path in the heart of the Provo River gorge; an observation tower at the Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center , a birding site on the west side of Salt Lake City; and riparian restoration along Utah’s Helper River.

“Outdoor recreation is a cash cow for Utah. It contributes more than $6.4 billion to the economy, employs more than 83,000 people, and generates $737 million in state and local tax revenues,” says Stephanie Pearson, author of National Geographic’s 100 Great American Parks . These efforts will keep Utah’s outdoor industry booming, while protecting fragile ecosystems.

Choquequirao, Peru

Trek to the less visited sister city of Machu Picchu

One of the most remote Inca sites in the Peruvian Andes, the ruins of Choquequirao are reserved for the hardy. Those who make the trek can do so only on foot, zigzagging up and down vertiginous paths for 18 miles before accessing the sprawling complex suspended at 10,000 feet between the high Andes and the jungles below.

“Many myths exist around Choquequirao,” says Gori-Tumi Echevarría, an archaeologist who first worked at the ruins in 2005. Its many temples, terraces, and plazas have yet to be fully excavated. Among the ancient city’s most intriguing features: the Llama Terraces, named for the two dozen nearly life-size llama images that cascade down the face of a series of steep terraces. The llamas are formed from quartzlike white rocks that vividly stand out against the dark schist background—unique stone artwork found at no other Inca site.

“There is nothing else like this in the Andes. It was graphic innovation that occurred prior to the 16th century and was not repeated,” says Echevarría, who specializes in prehistoric rock art. But change is coming to rock the “cradle of gold,” the meaning of Choquequirao in the Indigenous Quechua language. New infrastructure plans are expected to boost visitation to Machu Picchu ’s sister city.

Pre-pandemic, Machu Picchu had more than 1.5 million visitors annually,   according to Peruvian tourism officials . Choquequirao counted less than 9,500. To increase accessibility, the Peruvian government has committed to spending $260 million to build a cable car spanning three miles between the town of Kiuñalla and the archaeological site.   ( See what it takes to do the high-altitude trek to Choquequirao . )

Development may create more economic opportunities for locals at the expense of Choquequirao’s serenity. For now, however, the site feels like a sanctuary sheltered from the 21st century and one that still calls out to any adventure traveler’s imagination.

Austrian Alps

Connect with the Alps’ most charming villages  

To save a mountain range, it sometimes takes a village. Since 2008 an association of high-altitude hamlets located in Central Europe’s Eastern Alps has banded together to promote their small communities to the world’s adventure travelers interested in mountain hiking, biking, and climbing, as well as winter sports like cross-country skiing and ice climbing.

Called the Bergsteigerdörfer , or the “Mountaineering Villages,” the network is concentrated primarily in Austria ’s western states, including Tyrol and Carinthia, with additional member towns in Switzerland , Germany , Italy , and Slovenia . The Bergsteigerdörfer works to protect the culture and traditions of its 36 villages while preserving mountain landscapes from overdevelopment. Rejecting large-scale tourist projects like sprawling ski lodges and peak-scaling cable cars, the Bergsteigerdörfer puts greater emphasis on green or sustainable mountain tourism.

“We’re not big and bigger or tall and taller. We appeal to people wanting a more authentic alpine experience,” says Barbara Reitler of the Austrian Alpine Association . The Bergsteigerdorfer website highlights a changing assortment of towns where, for example, hikers can stay in a farmer’s house or try traditional foods like sterz,   a hearty porridge that’s immensely satisfying after a long day in the mountains.

Reitler’s favorite village is Johnsbach in Gesäuse National Park , with its dramatic views. “When you come through the Enns Valley along the river and suddenly see the peaks of the Gesäuse Mountains, you have emerged into a different world.”

Revillagigedo National Park,   Mexico

Dive into the Galápagos of Mexico

Some 300 miles off the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula lies a national park steeped in superlatives. Revillagigedo National Park , a 57,000-square-mile Mexican marine reserve, is North America’s largest fully protected underwater park. It offers sanctuary to the continent’s greatest concentration of tropical marine megafauna, from hammerhead sharks to humpback whales, earning it the nickname “the Galápagos of Mexico.” And the waters surrounding its four main islands are fast becoming a mecca for scuba divers.

“The park is one of the few places, if not the only place on the planet, that you can have intimate interaction with giant oceanic mantas,” says marine biologist and underwater filmmaker Erick Higuera. He says the mantas, which can weigh up to 3,600 pounds and attain a wingspan of 27 feet, seem to like the feel of the divers’ air bubbles on their bellies.

The bottlenose dolphins that inhabit the park’s waters also show curiosity, often swimming up to investigate divers. “The proximity you have with wild bottlenose dolphins is insane,” Higuera says. “As species, we’re both curious about each other.”

To minimize disruptions to the animals, the park limits the number of boats and divers allowed daily. It is not uncommon to reserve space on a Revillagigedo diving boat up to two years in advance. And remember: always keep a respectful distance from sea life.

New Zealand

Bounce back in this capital of adventure

The country that brought you bungee jumping is bouncing back from the pandemic. On New Zealand ’s South Island, a reenergized Queenstown is again welcoming adventure travelers from all over the world. They come to this lakeside town of some 15,000 for skiing, as well as year-round hiking in the appropriately named Remarkables range.  

But bicycles should be generating the most excitement. By 2025, the Queenstown Trails Trust aims to complete a network of recreational and commuting bike lanes and paths that will link up workplaces, schools, and other urban spaces. The network’s shining star: an 80.7-mile biking route called the Queenstown Trail , one of New Zealand’s Great Rides. Starting on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, the Ride pedals east from Queenstown to Gibbston.

For the more adventurous, the 31-mile Coronet Loop Trail takes cyclists deep into the surrounding backcountry. The singletrack circumnavigates 5,410-foot-tall Coronet Peak and snakes past waterfalls, river gorges, beech forests, and the historic remnants of a 19th-century Chinese gold mining settlement along the Arrow River.

Shopping cart items, adventure travel trends 2023.

When I wrote last year’s 2022 Adventure Travel Trends article , the WHO and UNWTO were still urging nations to lift blanket travel bans and mandatory vaccination requirements, and international travel was still working to recover in a meaningful way. Sustainability was just beginning to enter the general mindset as a consideration when traveling (although it was already more prevalent among adventure travelers), and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion were becoming more commonly discussed within business practices. 

Although progress has been made in the COVID-19 recovery, especially as the pre-pandemic travel powerhouse China reopens its borders for both inbound and outbound travel, many of the 2022 trends are continuing, and new ones are emerging. 

By summarizing our internal data and what we are hearing from other industry research and anecdotally within our community, here are some trends we at the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) expect to see in the adventure travel industry in 2023.

Continued Global COVID-19 Recovery

According to recent research, the majority of people (73%) are now more optimistic about traveling compared to 2022. Despite the ongoing global economic and political uncertainty as we enter 2023, an overwhelming majority (72%) still believe that traveling is worthwhile.

While many parts of the world have already fully recovered to pre-pandemic travel levels in 2022, the Asia Pacific region had only reached 73% of its 2019 travel volume as of January 2023, as reported by the Skift Travel Health Index . However, with the return of Chinese travelers to international travel as Q2 of 2023 approaches, overall tourism in 2023 is estimated to reach 2019 levels. 

Nature tourism remains a top priority for travelers worldwide as it contributes to their overall wellness. The resurgence in travel is generating innovative approaches to outdoor activities that enable travelers to explore nature and engage with host communities in a more meaningful way. These novel experiences are not restricted to rugged activities and are accessible to all travelers.

Balancing Visitor Quality and Quantity/Overtourism

Tying in with the continued recovery from COVID-19, destinations must be cautious about how they welcome visitors back. In last year’s trends article we looked at how the pandemic gave destinations a chance to pause and reevaluate their future plans, acknowledging that many over visited destinations like Machu Picchu and Barcelona were taking actions to reduce their visitor load. 

However, the pushback from travelers wanting to visit Machu Picchu resulted in a 33% increased daily admission capacity in July 2022, moving from 3,044 to 4,044. Only a few months later, after the political turmoil in the country caused the UNESCO World Heritage Site to close for a short time in early 2023, it reopened with a maximum of 2,500 daily visitors . This is only one example of the challenges that adventure tourism sites face when trying to balance demand while protecting their important natural and cultural assets. 

Adventure travelers spend an average of $2,500 per person in the local economy, compared to just $1,100 for overnight package tourists. This is a compelling argument for destinations to consider when they are debating between fewer higher-value travelers and a higher number of lower-value mass travelers – simply generating more visitors is often not the answer to achieving a sustainable tourism product. ATTA is seeing this awareness influencing COVID recovery in many regions around the world, for example Tunisia’s work to create new tourism products and new jobs in the regions of Zaghouan, Mahdia, El Kef, and Tozeur, through working with local players in outdoor/adventure/nature tourism. 

It is worth noting that to further complicate this trend, by some measures visitors on a budget may stay in a destination longer, engage with the local community, and practice more sustainable tourism – even if they spend less money, they might be considered a “ high values ” traveler.

Wellness Retreats, Breaks, and Activities

According to research from Expedia , wellness breaks have made a comeback in 2022, with a demand increase of over 30%. Global travelers are now more open to wellness breaks than before, with 46% showing interest. However, travelers seem to prefer unconventional stays for wellness breaks, with sylvotherapy (forest bathing), chakra sessions, food boot camps, puppy yoga, laughter therapy, and fruit harvesting gaining more popularity than traditional options like cookery courses, sports trips, and meditation sessions. 

Wellness retreats are evolving and becoming more creative, as resorts offer unique and offbeat retreats. Beekeeping, mushroom foraging, native plant foraging, and botany drawing are just some of the innovative activities that are becoming increasingly popular for wellness retreats in 2023.

In the year ahead, travelers are looking to incorporate healing activities into their itineraries in inventive ways, taking “microadventures” that engage with nature locally for smaller, shorter excursions. According to Wunderman Thompson , studies indicate that these microadventures are as impactful on mental and emotional health as traditional longer getaways. Additionally, Booking.com found that 42% of travelers are looking for a break that focuses on their mental and physical health, including retreats to smooth the processes of pregnancy and menopause, while almost half (44%) seek meditation or mindfulness retreats.

Climate Change and Carbon Awareness

The tourism industry is already experiencing the effects of climate change, with extreme heat causing flight cancellations and disrupted rail journeys in 2022. As this crisis persists, cooler destinations are marketing themselves as more comfortable options , while hotter locations are struggling to retain visitors. Climate change will likely be an important factor when planning trips in the future. 

Travelers are becoming more mindful and seeking ways to reduce or offset their carbon emissions. Travel brands are responding to this demand in various ways. Global Family Travels , for example, has developed educational adventures to inspire climate action among participants. Recently, the company launched a groundbreaking transformational adventure to Iceland, which is uniquely designed to be carbon-neutral. This trip includes first-hand witnessing of the dramatic changes caused by climate change in Iceland and immersing participants in living science.

The Adventure Travel Trade Association is incubating the world’s first collective action vehicle to rally travel to support carbon dioxide removal with permanent storage: Tomorrow’s Air . Through a carefully curated portfolio of carbon dioxide removal innovators the ATTA supports climate conscious travel education along with the scale up of carbon dioxide removal technologies.

Transportation Awareness

Transportation is the most significant contributor to the greenhouse gas emissions in travel, accounting for 49% to 75% of the overall emissions generated in the industry. This is a very challenging component to reduce or eliminate since transportation is at the very core of travel, but the adventure travel industry is working to make improvements to their processes.

Tour operators acknowledge the importance of increasing the sustainability of their itinerary transportation options: 53% of respondents to an ATTA survey for our September 2022 Responsible Transitions in Transport report agree they need to work on changing to more sustainable means of transport, and they are making it a priority for the next 12 months. This topic was discussed at the 2022 Adventure Travel World Summit in Lugano, Switzerland; the recording is publicly available here .

Research in Amadeus’ Traveler Tribes 2033 report found that while 35% of travelers express excitement about the prospect of more environmentally friendly travel options, 63% are unwilling to pay extra for biofuel-powered flights. When presented with five sustainable transportation options in 2033, only 19% of travelers were very likely to choose an option that required them to make a notable sacrifice, such as supporting a limit on international travel or occasionally opting for virtual travel. 

Together with Intrepid, ATTA has compiled research and recommendations around the facts of aviation’s role in climate change, how the travel industry and aviation organizations are responding, and how travelers can build their knowledge about carbon offsets and removals.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

In 2022 we reported how this was becoming an important topic in the adventure travel niche, but had not yet quite reached the overall industry trends reports. In 2022 these initiatives started to become more mainstream , and efforts are expected to grow in 2023.

According to Matt Berna of Intrepid Travel , in response to the domestic travel boom and increasing recognition of the importance of Indigenous and First Nations tourism, tour operators have begun putting a focus on developing more Indigenous experiences. Travel Alberta has just invested $6 million in direct and in-kind support over the next three years to Indigenous Tourism Alberta (ITA) . This investment will assist Indigenous tourism operators in developing new goods, expanding existing services, and attracting more visitors to their experiences. Australia’s newest tourist campaign is encouraging visitors to travel to lesser-known destinations and invest in local communities.

Tripadvisor recently introduced the capability for business owners to self-identify using attributes such as "Black-owned, Indigenous-owned, LGBTQ-owned, woman-owned, Asian-owned, and Hispanic/Latinx-owned," making it easier for travelers to find and support businesses from a wide range of communities and backgrounds. 

Martinique Lewis updated her Diversity in Travel Scorecard in 2022 , showing that the industry still has a long way to go, with all categories receiving a D or F (failing) grade. While it calls out all of the work that still needs to be done, her post also celebrates travel brands that are doing the work and taking real action.

Multi-Generational and Multi-Activity Travel

The popularity of multi-generational travel is on the rise , with the trend gaining renewed momentum due to the pandemic-induced isolation requirements. Families are now seeking bucket-list trips to reconnect and bond with their loved ones after the time and memories missed during the pandemic. Lemongrass Marketing’s Digital Insights team has reported a significant rise in searches for "teenage family adventure holidays UK" (up by 750% in the past 5 years), "multi-activity adventure holidays," and "solo adventure holidays" (up by 90% in the same period).

In 2023, there is an increasing demand for multi-activity adventure vacations that allow travelers to experience a variety of new activities. For example, tour operator Slow Adventure offers several exciting multi-adventure trips incorporating multiple activities in one destination. This type of itinerary also supports multi-generational travel, by giving options and being more inclusive of different abilities and interests.

Unexplored Destinations

In 2023, adventure travelers are seeking to embrace the unknown through extreme immersion and unconventional itineraries. There is an increasing desire for unfamiliar destinations and eccentric experiences. 

In contrast to the past few years when travel hotspots were trying to limit crowds and protect monuments, an increasing number of destinations are now showcasing previously inaccessible areas to draw in travelers seeking one-of-a-kind experiences. This includes initiatives like Saudi Arabia investing $1 trillion in tourism and opening ancient heritage sites for the first time, aiming to attract 100 million tourists a year by 2030. In 2025 Rome is reopening the Catacomb of Commodilla , constructed in the fourth century, after being restored by the Vatican’s Pontifical Commission for Sacred Archaeology.

Travelers seeking adventure are even headed into space and deep underwater . While it remains to be seen how these new frontiers will fit into adventure travel as we know it , diving nearly 2.5 miles underwater in the North Atlantic to explore and support scientific research on the Titanic with OceanGate Expeditions certainly will find a place within our community.

Are you ready to head into the valley? Don’t worry; this isn’t a bad valley. This is  Disney Dreamlight Valley! 

What’s that? Why, it’s a magical place where all sorts of wondrous things happen. Or, at least, it was until certain things happened to it. The characters of Disney and Pixar stories lived here, and they fled to their homelands when a spread of dark thorns wrecked the valley!

Many games deserve the “remastered” treatment for one reason or another. But when it comes to  Metroid Prime Remastered , it’s another story. This title was hailed as one of the best games of its generation when it came out on the Nintendo GameCube and the trilogy that it was a part of brought Samus Aran back into the limelight.

But now, with this remastered version of the game, you’ll get to see it at its peak on the Nintendo Switch and witness why this game still holds up to this day.

From the first-person combat to the exploration and story, you’ll feel everything Samus Aran does and fight to keep her alive.

13 Cube Escape: Birthday

Another great experience by Rusty Lake, Cube Escape: Birthday has their classic point-and-click gameplay and signature surreal tone that invites discomfort. You are placed into an ominously subdued birthday party and must explore the environment for items that will help you progress. The game can be extremely unnerving, from the liminal space pastel theme to the vaguely melancholic music that randomly cuts out, to the robotic way characters repeat their dialogue lines. The logic is fairly sound, so there's not a great barrier to entry for those new to point-and-click adventure, and the creepy atmosphere keeps things interesting.

14 Alien Isolation

One of the central spine-tingling AAA darlings of 2014, Alien Isolation is a survival horror game themed around the legendary Alien film series, placing the player into a cramped and isolated spaceship with a murderous rampaging creature that stalks your every move. Feral Interactive did a great job adapting this to the mobile platform, with incredible visual quality and responsive touchscreen controls that do an excellent job of helping you sneak around. Gameplay mandates stealth and caution as opposed to fighting, making it ideal for handheld play, with a great story to keep you moving forward. Alien Isolation is definitely worth playing on consoles and PC, but unforgettable on Android devices.

15 Teslagrad

Teslagrad is an old-school platformer with engaging physics-based challenges, delightfully detailed environments, and atmospheric storytelling without any dialogue; concerning a young boy's adventure through a hostile world. Players must traverse various platforming challenges in order to find and explore a mysterious tower, acquiring magnetism-themed abilities along the way to help you. Controls are smooth, reactive, and complex enough to justify Teslagrad's excellent controller support.

16 The Healing - Horror Story

This is one of those situations where "gameplay" is in quotation marks. The Healing is more like a choose-your-own-adventure book in the context of a WhatsApp-style messaging feed, with you contributing to the conversation by selecting one of three prepared statements, similar to TellTales The Walking Dead. Unlike that series, however, there are no alternate gameplay loops here, as the game's horror is the main focus, and The Healing achieves this by shooting for hyper-realism. You have been added to a mysterious group chat, and nobody knows why they are there until a mysterious doctor starts to mess with your mind. The interface of the fake messaging app is very convincing, as are the scripted messages from the fictional chat members, with the game even including videos of real actors to lend authenticity. There are times when you genuinely forget that it's a game and not a real messaging app. The horror does take a hit from the lack of player input, with the story largely happening around you rather than to you, but horror is ultimately subjective, so It's up to you how frightening this actually is.

At only 450 pounds wet, the Tuareg is nicely placed at the smaller end of the mid-weight options. The suspension has a whopping 9.4 inches of travel in both the front and rear, giving it one of the highest ranges of suspension travel in its class.

Fuel is carried low, having a big impact on how the bike handles and making it relatively easy to pick up for a bike this size. There are tons of unique, well-thought-out features to discover if you take the time to research this bike thoroughly.

For the many folks struggling to find a Ténéré 700 or who are thinking about paying over MSRP to get one, the Tuareg deserves consideration.

The 800DE fits nicely into the V-Strom family between the popular 650 and 1050 options. This is particularly exciting due to the fact that the   larger, mid-weight lineup of ADV bikes is notably lacking affordable options, and the V-Stroms are known for providing great value for the money.  

The Adventure model on the 800 platform comes equipped with quick-release black-anodized 37L aluminum panniers, plus a rugged accessory bar and aluminum skid plate for true off-road touring capability.

While the base weight is unfortunately on the heavy side at 507 pounds (we don’t know what the Adventure model add-ons weigh), Suzuki’s reputation for reliability coupled with a fair price point will suit many.

Unlike its little brother, the Ténéré 700 , which notoriously carries its weight high, the engine mass is kept low on the 1200 for great handling. It does come with more features than the 700, but fewer than its competitors in the heavyweight category.

Fewer electronics mean less to fail, making it a reliable and durable choice for long-distance travel. The Super Ténéré does have basic frills, like cruise and traction control, and adjustable suspension.

This bike has been and will continue to be a solid choice for adventure riding.

The Adventure S model (shown) is the more long-distance, road-oriented sibling of the aggressively off-road capable Adventure R model. The 1290 models cover ground quickly and effortlessly and have the ergonomics to make sure your adventures are as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

KTMs are highly customizable and known for being incredibly lightweight, fun, and powerful. Because of that, they’re one of the best adventure motorcycles on- and off-road.

2023 Adventure Motorcycles — No Perfect Bike

Full disclosure, I ride a Suzuki DR650SE, and I call it my adventure motorcycle. We have indeed been on many wonderful adventures together, but it’s really a dual-sport. Yes, it is street-legal and off-road capable, but it is not very comfortable. It becomes exponentially less so on long-distance rides , even with upgrades.

Adventurers the world over will share similar stories of epic times on all types and sizes of bikes , including single-cylinder or “thumper” bikes like mine. The point is that while you can certainly have adventures riding whatever bike you fancy (or can afford), an ideal adventure motorcycle will take you everywhere you might want to go, and you’ll be a lot more comfortable.

Adventure Motorcycle FAQs

Good ground clearance, suspension travel, and large spoked wheels all help make navigating different types of terrain and obstacles easier, safer, and more enjoyable.

Vibration, jarring, and wind buffeting are three big factors that are exhausting on long rides. Twin-cylinder engines or above will vibrate much less than single-cylinder bikes. Plush suspension will absorb changes in terrain, and a frame-mounted fairing will provide ultimate protection from the wind.

The lightest weight bike in this comparison is the new Aprilia Tuareg 660 , coming in just under 450 pounds (449.7, to be exact). The only other bike that comes close is the Yamaha Ténéré 700 , at 452 pounds. The heaviest is the venerable BMW R 1250 GSA , at 591 pounds. Leave it to German engineering to figure out how to perfectly balance that much weight on two wheels.

No surprises here. The priciest is Ducati, and the economy is a Suzuki. The new Multistrada V4 Rally can be yours in Ducati Red for just under $31,000. For that price, you can buy matching Suzuki V-Stroms for yourself and two of your friends. The base model V-Strom 650 comes in at $9,104 and has been successfully carrying adventure riders all over the world for nearly 20 years. 

Suzuki has gone after the adventure market with their new V-Strom “DE” models . They are still pretty far behind the competition in side-by-side comparisons, but the pricing is so good it might not matter. At the other end of the spectrum in quality, price, and cutting-edge technology, the Tiger 1200 line has been completely revamped for 2023.

If you want to do lots of road riding, the very popular BMW GSAs , Triumph Tigers , and of course, the Ducati Multistrada will offer the most comfort on the longest rides. Heavier, large-displacement bikes tend to ride better on the road.

Riding off-road can mean a lot of different things. Generally speaking, the lighter-weight ADV bikes tend to be easier to handle (and pick up!) riding off-road. Look at the KTM 890 R (really any KTM), Tuareg 660 , and Ténéré 700 if you live for dirt.

This is where the mid-weight adventure bikes win. The Ducati DesertX is creating quite a stir. I dare you not to want this bike. Also touted as equally well-appointed for both are the Tiger 900 , the new kid Norden 901 , and the Africa Twin .

2023 Hatchery Outdoor Adventure: Fun for the Whole Family

On September 9, 2023, the Friends of the Norfork National Fish Hatchery held the first Hatchery Outdoor Adventure since the Pandemic of 2019.  This year we had over 480 young people and their families in attendance.  Volunteers from North Arkansas Fly Fishers, Trout Unlimited, Friends of the North Fork and White Rivers, Hatchery staff, Arkansas Game and Fish, The Corps of Engineers, Salesville City Council members and friends from Mountain View, Salesville, Calico Rock, Norfork and Mountain Home provided much needed support for the 25 outstanding activities.

Among the 25 activities and events were:

    - Fly Tying , sponsored by Trout Unlimited and WAPSI

    - Kiddy Fishing in the Raceway , sponsored by Ron Hulstein

     - Freshwater Macroinvertebrates , sponsored by Heather Pittman and the Fred Berry

           Crooked Creek Nature Center

           Nature Center

     - Archery , sponsored by Arkansas Game and Fish District’s Trent Whitehead and Hatchery

Invitation letter: A tourist voucher or confirmation from a Russian travel agency or hotel is required as proof of accommodation.
