Baiguney sikkim trip with club mahindra.
Baiguney – where is that? That was my first thought when I started communicating with Club Mahindra. Google came to the rescue and very soon I was dreaming of the hills and forests of southwestern Sikkim. Read about the small hill stations surrounding the Baiguney like Pelling and Rinchenpong. I got to know about River Rangeet I was told flows right next to the Club Mahindra Resort there. I was ready to explore and it fitted in well with our already planned trip to South Sikkim and Jungles of North Bengal.
Some of the things that would make me want to return are:
View with a Swimming Pool
We have often heard of phrases like ‘Room With a View’ or ‘Swimming Pool with a view’ but how about a lush green view with a sparkling blue swimming pool inviting you for a swim? Whether it was from our room balcony or from the hilltop opposite the resort – the blue swimming pool became a part of the view. Of course, up close it was as charming. The hammock next to it was the perfect place to lie back and read your favorite author.
Baiguney for Birding Enthusiasts
Being surrounded by forests and a river flowing next to it, the walking area around the resort is a haven for spotting the birds. On the first day, we went for a walk down the river. Thankfully the resort maintains a well-laid path to the river and you can walk carefree without worrying about tripping here or there. We could spot so many birds though most of them would hide behind the ample leaves of the surrounding trees. They would tease us with their calls, and we would run around to get a glimpse of them. There are small ponds that are a good ground for spotting birds.
There is a small bamboo gazebo that overlooks the Rangeet River. All the 3 days that I was there, I sat at the gazebo watching the birds fly across the trees in front – it was like watching a well-orchestrated performance. I think I can say this was my favorite spot at the resort.
I also loved the fig-laden trees on the premises. I never thought that the figs happen in bunches right out of the trunk of the tree.
If you ever visit this resort, do not miss the orchid collection in the greenhouse – some of the freshest orchids I have seen in the hues of white and pink. The Cactus collection is also worth admiring.
Family Resort
I am not a member of Club Mahindra and I visited them wearing my travel blogger hat. This was my first stay with a ‘Timeshare’ property. I had no idea how these properties work as they are not hotels in the traditional sense of it. What I discovered was a very family-friendly atmosphere. All the fellow visitors were families. Quite a few families were 3 generations traveling together. I could see that they are enjoying spending time together. Staff and guests have a personal repo as most of the families are repeat guests for the group.
There are facilities for keeping the children entertained. Every evening there are events to entertain the guests. For the first time, I saw the staff entertaining the guests. Initially, I thought they would get performers from outside, but as I sat there watching it was the same person who was managing the restaurant or who was at the front desk. I believe the group trains its staff for these performances. This was quite unique for me. I have never seen the hotel staff turning into entertainers every evening. Having said that, it was quite a warm atmosphere as the staff involved the guests and the underlying camaraderie helped both sides enjoy the evenings.
Jal Siddhi Devi Sthan
It is not very often that you find an ancient temple on the premises of a holiday resort. During my morning walks, at the edge of the resort, I discovered a small but well-maintained temple dedicated to Jal Devi – the water Goddess. I assume she is a local folk deity. It is the water part that left me thinking as the shrine is located next to River Rangeet. I later gathered that drinking water is always a problem in hills and hence the shrine. There were also images of Shiva and his family – who assume are the resident lords of the Himalayas.
Location of Baiguney Resort
The biggest plus of this resort is its location. You can do a lot of offbeat locations in Sikkim from here. We covered Namchi, Pelling, Rinchenpong, and Kitam Bird Sanctuary from this resort. However what stands out in my memory is the drive along the river, colorful birds, and flowers. I remember the walks in and around the area in the midst of pristine nature. The closest city is Jorethang. It takes about 4-5 hours of drive from Bagdogra airport to reach this place. Roads were not great when we traveled in mid-April and the ride was bumpy.
I was told that most of their resorts are located far from the maddening crowd. For example, even in popular destinations like Shimla, they have a property in Kandaghat . Their properties, if available, can be booked through popular online portals just like any other hotels in Shimla or Sikkim.
Other facilities at the resort
Apart from the enchanting swimming pool, there is a spa facility and I am told it is quite popular with guests. There is a small gymnasium and I wonder if you really need one in such lovely surroundings.
There are open-air canopies for outdoor dining or small celebrations. The flowing white fabric surrounding you as you spend some moments with your partner or when you surprise your parents with a birthday cake and candles, adds to the ambiance and lends flavor to your memories.
I was invited by Club Mahindra to experience their Baiguney property. Views are mine and for details on their membership, please refer to their website.

The resort has been designed to emphasise the natural beauty of the surroundings. Whether it is the landscaping or the interior decoration, the local influence is visible. This is true of other aspects of the resort too, such as the food, which is delicious, and includes local cuisine, or the staff members playing local instruments and entertaining you with folk songs and dances.
Since there are a lot of sightseeing places in Gangtok, taxis are the most convenient modes of transport within the city. There are also state-run buses with very nominal fares which facilitate internal commuting. One can also look for shared buses/jeeps to cover all local sightseeing places with relatively economical charges.

At times, there is a huge difference between what they offer and what they provide. However, SikkimTourism.org kept its promise to us. They put forth a lot of effort to make our trip to Sikkim the finest one ever.
SIKKIMTOURISM.ORG assisted me in planning a trip for my family and me. I spoke with other tour guides and looked through numerous websites. But none could compare to Sikkim Tourism’s degree of professionalism.
Mr. ROHIT phoned me in response to my letter inquiry. He is a really helpful dude. I had a lot of concerns for him, such as the weather in Sikkim and if it was OK to bring my 2-year-old, and he patiently responded to all of them.
We were able to organise our journey to Gangtok, Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Nathu La, Yumthang Valley, Lachung, and Darjeeling as a result of his insightful ideas.
The dates of our journey were February 7–15 of this year. The itinerary provided by Sikkim Tourism, our travel guide, was fantastic and guaranteed that our vacation will be memorable.
We need drivers who had a thorough understanding of the roads because Sikkim is situated in a hilly area and has twisty roads. We received these from SikkimTourism.ORG, which helped us feel secure.
Eight days were spent travelling. From day 1 to day 8, the schedule included all travel arrangements, information on the vehicles, accommodations, and meals. The crew, in particular Mr. Rohit, kept in touch with us well.
The accommodation, meals, and transportation arrangements were all well-taken care of. What I appreciated most were the safe travel itinerary and the on-time cab drivers. Overall, our trip was enjoyable. Thanks, SikkimToursim.org group
Excellent lodging, outstanding transportation, and lovely memories to cherish. Because of their smooth services, I would heartily suggest SIKKIMTOURISM.ORG tourism. I really appreciate it. Bravo to ROHIT and the rest of the SIKKIM TOURISM.ORG team.
In April 2019, my family and I travelled to Sikkim and Darjeeling. We reserved our tour with SIKKIMTOURISM.ORG to make travel easier. I must say that the accommodations for travel, the mode of transportation, and how the trip was planned were all excellent.

will be travelling to club mahindra resort of baiguney.
what all places should we visit fron 17-22 may.
plz give suggestions for places away from crowd .
There is nothing much to see specifically in Baiguney, apart form enjoying the beautiful ambience of the Club Mahindra Resort, where I presume you are planning to stay.
Only place away from crowd is Baiguny itself, otherwise wherever motorable roads are available, you would see crowd in May.
Did you check about Baiguny before booking, unless someone wants to stay seat from tourist place ,it's not worth to stay and that too for 4-5 nights.
Place is away from all tourist spot, unnecessary travelling involved to visit any place, don't have any place to eat/drink near it so you have to depends on overpriced restaurant of property. The altitude is lower than other tourist places in Sikkim so always warmer than other places,no great views.
The property was initially owned and operated by Zuri group but they were not able to attract guest, later hand over to CM and as their members have limited choice, this place got guest and majority of them didn't had idea what exactly they are going to experience.
khecheopalri lake, khangchendzonga waterfall, singshore bridge can they be done in one day.
also sky walk, darap village ,rabdentse palace, samdruptse, pemayangtse monastery are some names i could collect.
also should we try going to the zero point..we don’t mind travelling for 6-8 hrs in a day
also i read now that lachung is a must see..how can we travel there
Tejaswini P
Lachung is in North Sikkim and is usually covered in a 2 day trip from Gangtok . Do let us know your exact date and time of arrival and departure and i can then check if Lachung can be fitted into your itinerary. Also do mention if you already have confirmed hotel bookings done in certain locations.
will fly in to bagdogra on 17 and fly out on 21 May.
the days are fixed but we can change the sikkim itinerary even though reservations done at baiguney.
should we prefer lachung lachen yumthang over baiguney .i can rebook .now plz suggest the best possible itinerary for we nature lovers in this limited period and also resort to stay.
Pls mention the TIME of arrival because the itinerary also depends on the same.
17 th will reach bagdogra airport by noon .
18th & 19th :- North Sikkim trip -- Gangtok - Lachung - Yumthang - Gangtok
20th :- tsomgo Lake , Baba Mandir, Nathula Pass
21st :- Gangtok to Baiguney via Namchi ( you may also stay in Namchi if interested)

Sikkim Hotels and Places to Stay
Travel could be a good deal this summer. Here's when plane ticket prices will peak.
Spring is springing and according to Hopper, it’s time to start thinking about your summer vacation plans.
New data from the online booking site shows some favorable trends for travelers in the next few months, including slightly lower airfares compared to 2023, and hotel and car rental prices that are more or less flat year-over-year.
Here’s what you need to know as you prepare to book, whether you’re looking to take a domestic getaway or go on an overseas adventure. It’s also not too late to take advantage of deals on some last-minute trips.
How much are spring and summer plane tickets?
According to Hopper, the best deals right now are on domestic airline tickets. Round-trip flights within the U.S. are averaging $290 in April, but prices are expected to rise in the months ahead.
Hopper’s data shows prices for domestic flights will peak between May and June at $315 on average, and then will gradually fall through the summer, reaching a low of $264 on average in September.
On a call with investors discussing first-quarter earnings Wednesday, Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian said summer travel demand has been pushed forward in recent years due in part to schools, especially in the South, finishing their summer breaks earlier in the year.
Is airport Wi-Fi safe to use? How to keep your information safe while traveling.
Short vs. long cruises: Which one is right for you? Here's how they compare.
This summer will also be a good time to travel internationally, with Hopper data showing fares to most destinations abroad down compared to last year.
“Airfare to international destinations continues to improve following two years of bloated prices due to quickly recovering demand, high fuel prices and supply constraints. Airfare to most major regions of the world has dropped compared to last year with the exception of trips to Canada,” Hayley Berg, Hopper’s chief economist, said in the report. “International fares remain higher than pre-pandemic levels to most regions, as higher fuel prices persist and airlines continue to rebuild capacity to many regions.”
How much will a hotel room for the spring and summer cost?
Hotel prices remain more or less flat compared to the same time last year. Rooms in the U.S. are averaging $206 per night currently, with even better deals available in some trending international destinations like Osaka, Japan and Istanbul, Turkey.
According to Hopper, Las Vegas, New York and Chicago remain popular destinations in the U.S.
Will car rental prices go up this summer?
Car rental prices also haven’t gone up much since last year, averaging $42 per day currently, according to Hopper.
The report shows that most travelers rent a car for about four days and warm weather destinations like Orlando and Los Angeles remain popular pickup points.

I've traveled to 9 out of 10 countries in Southeast Asia. Here are the 5 biggest mistakes I made along the way.
- I've traveled solo to nine countries in Southeast Asia.
- I've made many mistakes, from traveling during monsoon season to forgetting to bring enough cash.
- Travelers should make sure they plan ahead and research each country's culture.
Over the last two years, my journey as a travel enthusiast and Business Insider's travel reporter in Singapore has brought me to almost every country in Southeast Asia.
In total, there are 10 countries in Southeast Asia , and I've traveled to nine of them — Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, and Brunei. Myanmar remains the only country in the region I have not visited, and while I am keen to explore it, I have held off on visiting because of the country's ongoing civil war.
I've watched the sun rise in Angkor Wat in Cambodia and cared for elephants in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I've explored the Bornean jungle in Brunei and crawled the Cu Chi Tunnels in southern Vietnam.
But it hasn't always been easy. I've made several mistakes traveling across the region , especially as a solo traveler. Here are five mistakes I made and how to avoid them.
1. Going during monsoon season and not planning for the weather.
In July, I traveled to Thailand on a reporting trip to cover the budding cannabis industry . There, I was met with heavy rain nearly every day. In Bangkok, I was staying in a hostel in Chakkrawat , a district with narrow, meandering streets, which made it difficult to walk anywhere in the pouring rain.
I didn't plan for the weather, so I didn't have an umbrella or poncho with me and had to rush to get one at the last minute. I also had a packed itinerary with a lot of travel between meetings, which was a hassle in the constant downpour.
Before traveling to Southeast Asia, make sure to avoid two seasons — the monsoon season, which often comes with strong typhoons in countries like the Philippines, and the burning season, where farmers burn land for fertile soil. This is a common occurrence in countries like Laos, Thailand, and the island of Borneo, which is shared between Brunei, Indonesia, and Malaysia.
When I traveled to Laos in April last year during the burning season , most of my plans — including a hot air balloon ride — were canceled because of the thick smog. I also didn't have an N95 mask with me, and I ended up with a sore throat.
If you do plan to come during these seasons, make sure to pack accordingly and plan a flexible schedule.
2. Traveling during Ramadan and expecting the same practices everywhere.
Having grown up in Singapore, I'm familiar with the practices during Ramadan , the holy month for Muslims, where they fast for most of the day. I studied Malay for seven years, and in school, I often fasted with my Muslim classmates and ate only in private.
Still, in many cities in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia , non-Muslims are free to dine in public, so long as they do so respectfully. But on my trip to Brunei in April — at the height of the burning season and in the middle of Ramadan — there were more practices I needed to observe.
Most restaurants were closed, and diners weren't allowed to eat there even if they were open — only take-out was allowed. Eating in public was a major faux pas even for non-Muslims, and if you want to drink some water, you can only do so when nobody is around.
It wasn't easy, especially as Brunei was sweltering at 100 degrees Fahrenheit on some days. I made do by returning to the hotel for lunch and grabbing a big dinner with the locals at the night market after they had broken their fast.
3. Not packing enough modest outfits when visiting temples and mosques.
Southeast Asia is pretty liberal, and you can wear whatever you want in many places. In popular destinations like Phuket, Thailand, and Bali, Indonesia, lots of tourists walk around in bikini tops and shorts, and locals mostly tolerate it.
But there are certain places you do need to cover up, like places of worship, which include temples and mosques. When I visited Angkor Wat — the famed temple complex in Cambodia — in February last year, I found some tourists being told off by the local tour guides for wearing shorts and tank tops — "Tomb Raider" style.
I've learned to err on the right side of caution and bring a sarong wherever I go. It's an easy way to cover up and make an outfit more modest when you need to.
4. Forgetting to pack medication, especially when I plan to eat street food.
Southeast Asia has some of the world's most flavorful food. In every country, you can find food that is cheap and delicious, and that includes Singapore , the world's most expensive city. In countries like Malaysia and Vietnam, street food dishes can cost as little as a dollar.
I eat mostly street food when I travel in Southeast Asia, so medicine for tummy-related illnesses is a must. I've only gotten sick twice from eating street food — and it was the same dish both times— and unfortunately, those were the few times I didn't have medicine with me.
I'm a pretty adventurous eater. I've eaten everything from pufferfish stew to frog porridge and dishes made with intestines off the street. I've learned to wash the utensils provided before digging in and make sure the food is cooked to order and heated up before being served.
5. Relying on my card and not bringing enough cash with me.
In Singapore, I don't really use cash and often use Apple Pay, mobile payments, and cards. But I've found that many stores in other countries in Southeast Asia only accept cash.
For example, on my third trip to Vietnam, I spent an hour trying to make payment via bank transfer after the staff at a luxury perfume shop — which was selling items priced upwards of $200 — informed me at the last minute that they didn't accept card or contactless payment.
I've also found the majority of street vendors in the region only accept mobile payment — which is limited to local banks — or cash. I've learned to change a considerable amount of money before leaving the airport and keep whatever I didn't use for my next trip.
