Naked cruise to sail from Miami in 2025
MIAMI (Gray News) - A nudist adventure awaits with the Big Nude Boat cruise scheduled to sail from Florida next year.
Bare Necessities Tour and Travel announced its newest nude cruise will be the Norwegian Sky cruise ship out of Miami.
The Big Nude Boat 2025 cruise will be a 10-day trip taking travelers to the Caribbean with scheduled stops that include the Bahamas, Puerto Rico and St. Lucia.
Bare Necessities said it will be taking over the Norwegian Pearl from Feb. 3 to Feb. 14, 2025.
According to the cruise itinerary , clothes-free experiences will be planned throughout the trip including nude beach days on private islands and nude days at sea.
But there will also be proper nudist etiquette and other rules for guests on board that include no photo zones around the pool area and dance venues, according to the cruise’s policies .
The travel company recommended that passengers bring some sort of casual clothing for the times they need to dress, along with a swimsuit as not all excursions will be clothing optional, but lingerie or fetish wear will not be an acceptable form of clothing on board.
The Big Nude Boat 2025 cruise tickets are currently on sale with prices starting at $2,000 for double occupancy.
Information about costume parties and onboard events is expected to be released at a later date.

Hot air balloons fill the sky for the Great Balloon Rush-Hour Race
Hot air balloons decorated the sky Friday morning during the Great Balloon Rush-Hour Race.
WLKY NewsChopper flew alongside the balloons! Watch some of the footage in the player above.
The balloons took off around 7 a.m. from Bowman Field.
The races are what are known as "hare and hound" races where 19 "hound" balloons chase one "hare" balloon.
The hare balloon launches first and about 10 to 15 minutes later, the other 19 balloons follow and then develop a flight pattern.
The hare picks an altitude to go to a direction that hopefully has an open landing spot. The hare then slides into it and immediately lay a big X out.
The other balloon pilots drop a small bag of Kentucky Bluegrass Seed as close to the center as possible.
This year's race ended at the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Complex .
As we saw Friday, several made it on the X. The Mirazon balloon got closes to the target, just inches away.
Of the 20 balloons that took off from Bowman Field this morning, more than half made it to the Norton Sports and Learning complex, with a few touching down in Shawnee Park.
The Mirazon balloon, piloted by Jerry Copas, got closest to the target, just 3 and 3/4 inches away.
There's another race Saturday morning, but weather conditions are dicey, so that race could be in jeopardy.
There will also be another balloon glow Friday night at the Great Lawn. Watch Thursday's below.

No more balloon drop?

Sad to hear the rumour confirmed by 24639’s post above. I know it’s cheesy, I know it’s not environmentally friendly, but it’s been a family tradition to ring in the New Yr by watching the balloon drop with our kids ever since they were 8 and 10, back on our first cruise on the Golden Princess - the one that left us awestruck in a way that only a first cruise can. My parents were with us on that first cruise almost 13 years ago, and we are fortunate enough to have them back on this one. Silly as it may sound, one of the things I was looking forward to the most this year was experiencing that event all over again with them. Here’s hoping that Princess replaces it with something else that will capture the excitement of beginning a new year together.

I will attend that! Could we make it a BLT drop? Mayo on the side please.

The kids would be ecstatic; grandparents, not so much 😁 .
How about a ton of bubbles?!!!

It is not the balloons but the plastic that the sealife has been injesting which came most likely from the garbage thrown into the sea.
" Modern day balloons are made from materials such as rubber , latex , polychloroprene , or a nylon fabric, and can come in many different colors. Some early balloons were made of dried animal bladders , such as the pig bladder ." (Wikipedia) In the case of Princess balloons, they are cheaply made from polychloroprene most likely. The elimination of balloons will have any effect on plastics in the sea.
Whether they stay or leave is not important to me but do hope they keep the music and dancing in the piazza that goes with the balloon drop.

Bubbles are generally made of soap. Soap is very slippery.
We loved them.
Just got back off the Royal Princess from Alaska. We supposedly had the last balloon drop ever since they are doing away with all single use plastics (including balloons) on Oct. 1st

Ever see the inside of one of your beloved turtles?
Those are balloon fragments from balloons you claim they don't ingest.
We appreciated the two balloons on our cabin door for our 25th wedding anniversary and stuck them on the wall inside where they stayed until the last night of the cruise in mid-May after which we popped them. There was nothing in them.
It is a fond memory but I understand the need for them to be eliminated.
Thankfully I got a picture of them.

Followed by the Crestor drop!
LOL! BTW, I'm sure the pigs will take exception to the bacon drop!

We were on the Caribbean Princess and the cruise director said there would be no balloons on the ship because of how bad they are for the environment but he did say it was not fleet wide but the choice of the director. We were OK with it and didn't really miss the balloons.

Does the wildlife have to be on your ship to matter?

A frequent contributor to this board and part-time contract Princess employeehas a blog elsewhere, and she was the first to report the demise of the balloon drop on the Royal.
It had been rumored a few months back but is now substantiated.
I will really miss it, as I loved seeing all the pretty colors, but I am okay with it
due to the environment.
I'm on Grand Princess started 9-13. No balloons on doors for Birthday. , Balloons for everything gone by
October was told by crew. Paper straws, cups and lids now.

I’m all for the protection of the environment. But I will admit that I will miss the balloons. I liked the balloons at our door for our special events and loved the balloon drop. Especially standing in the atrium and watching them come down. Now if the spirit of protecting the environment, does this mean that the over abundance of flyers put in our rooms and mailboxes each day will also disappear?! Let’s hope so!
Only went to one drop on one of our NYE Cruises. We only needed to be a part of it once. Nice novelty, but won’t miss it.
Safe Journeys, Paul
I will miss the balloon drop, as will my kids. I completely understand the elimination of the balloon drop, the environmental reasons make total sense, and it sounds like the right reason to eliminate them. I just hope it's not another hypocritical attempt by Princess to get rid of something. Like when they said no more straws, but also stopped providing the big bottles of water included with the PBP, the small ones are still included which means more waste.... or like when they said, no more dumping waste in the ocean and still did it., or all the paper waste that others have commented on-that' not needed. Do it electronically on Medallion ships.

just come off the Majestic Princess this morning and they had the Balloon drop last night. Was advised balloon drop would still be there for our New Year cruise - but they have dispensed them in using them for celebrations on the doors / camp discovery.
Has there been anything official from Princess.
On the my last Regal cruise in February the family below us must of gathered at least 10 balloons to bring back to their cabin. I saw them tie them to their balcony railing that evening. Im sure some of them ended up in the ocean. Good move by Princess.
😢 Where will I get my balloons from?
The list of things I'll have to buy before the cruise is growing faster than ever.

WOW are you serious???
There was no balloon drop on our August Regal Baltic cruise. We were not surprised as that part of the world seems to be more environmentally conscious. We have attended balloon drops on previous cruises and while we enjoyed the playfulness of the event we completely understand and support the reasons for its discontinuance. It is troubling to think about all of the daily trash generated by the world’s population. If everyone tried to take small steps in reducing unnecessary waste there should be some benefit to the planet. We are all for drastically cutting down the unwanted solicitation flyers in the staterooms and although we really don’t care for paper straws we are “sucking it up” so to speak and using them. Guess we’ll all have stronger cheek muscles.

Not fleet wide?
Can't imagine Princess allowing ship-by-ship participation in a company environmental policy ... maybe the CB cruise director was stroking his ego by saying this.

June 17, 2010. South Carolina. #1. Posted October 1, 2019. I just read that Princess is discontinuing the balloon drop due to environmental concerns. I read some of the comments and, as expected, they ranged from agreeing with the new policy to totally disagreeing and claiming that the balloons do not have any negative effects on the environment.
The drop itself is appearing on activity schedules for upcoming Royal Caribbean cruises. Immediately after it, however, the cruise line has added something new: "The Big Recycle Balloon Pickup."

Balloon Drop is always a popular event on board Royal Caribbean International Spectrum of the Seas. We don't need a reason to celebrate and everyone is excited with the drop. This time, after experiencing Typhoon Koinu's disruption, we celebrate on board for a smooth sailing home to Singapore.

This gave us a lovely view and a separation from the noise of all the balloons popping at the end.
