The waitresses were friendly and had that Texas great attitude. Our server made sure we liked the food, and it was homemade. This was a nice travel place to stop, however, the smoking area is open to the rest of the place. There was no... one smoking, or we would have had to leave. Otherwise, this was a true truck stop and nice! More

We stopped in there one night for a quick bite to eat and a drink. Got some great burgers to go along with some sodas. No big deal, but we were impressed with the wait staff and the flavors and quality of the burgers and... fries. We would recommend it for a quick... non-franchise... burger! More

I visit this facility on my travels. Plenty of room for families, plenty of truck parking. Separate fuel island for gas and diesel. They have added a Chicken retail location in the store. So no longer have to go to restaurant to get food. Chicken... is a chain company. Food is good in restaurant. More

I meet my daughter here bcuz it’s a halfway point for us. But this is the first time we sat and dined inside. Talk about highway robbery and then my order was short🙄. Then the prices and the small amount for the charge!! Needs to... be reported! More

Food and service used to be great. I eat at least weekly for several years. Last few months have had numerous cooks; most don't know how to cook properly. Safest food is a hamburger. One cook can't even cook chicken properly. It is always over... done. Portion size has gone from normal truck stop size to a diet clinic size. Over priced for what you get. More

I have visited place many times and during the past year it has gone from a great place to eat, that was fun and friendly : to a place to get a bite, and bring your health advisor along. To be exact, I have yet... to see ANY employee entering the kitchen area or prep area was their hands. I have seen on a very recent visit; the waitress pickup a newborn baby and hold it all over here (Grandson) then pick up my food at the window and bring it to my table. I refused it. Saying I wanted a refund. This facility has signes posted for customers to stay out from bbehing the counter. But it is not enforced. Counter customers just go baack in the back and get coffee or iced tea. They sit an hour or so staaring at the customers eating and theen leave with out paying for their drinks. Meanwhile if we order food we have to pay over $2.50 for a cup of warm stale coffee. No a smart way to do business. More

This review is not as good as prior visit. Due to some individual conflicts this business lost their best cook. They now have a couple of men filling in trying to put out a good meal. They no longer have a salad bar; you are... lucky to get a very small side salad with a meal. Even though the menu clearly shows salad bar included with some full dinners. A lot of the items are over priced. Drinks are over priced. I eat here a couple of times per week because of work schedule. More

Excellent food and good sized portions. Brian the weekend and afternoon cook is a culinary arts graduate and puts out an excellent meal.

Sometimes you pull off the Interstate for gas and decide to try the food-and boy what a surprise. I recently gassed up and got the burger of a life time and salad bar par excellence. The waitress was Bridget and she was fast and friendly,... and Rodney cooked up the biggest burger I have ever seen- with tater tots. Glancing around the restaurant- I saw humongous portions of steak, lamp and pork chops, fries, fixins and all the rest. The Bar B Travel Plaza is a great place to get a great meal, at a great price and mix with friendly folks in Gordon, Texas ( I ain't got no zip code to go with it--sorry ) More

I have always stopped here to eat and it was always great food, but my last visit I found out smoking is now allowed. The smokers were in a back room with an open door allowing the smoke to come back into the non smoking... area and there was no venting for the smoke. The smoke was so thick my nose and eyes burned, I had to leave. This truck stop is more interested in catering to their local smoking coffee crowd instead of traveling customers I can only say I will not be stopping here anymore. More

There were 20 of us, showed up unannounced. First off, the service was outstanding!! They had no idea we were coming. Only 2 servers. Both were on top of it! That's why the 5 stars. The food was pretty good. Hard to make a bad... breakfast though. More

Eat here about once a week on way thru. They have a kids/senior breakfast that is GREAT, budget-priced. Not fast food, but not real slow, either. Lunch specials vary in quality, but are generally pretty tasty and economical. Wait staff very friendly. One said "If... you go away hungry, it's on YOU," which is apparently pretty true - portions are generous. More

This is the best chicken fried steak I have ever ate .comes with mashed taters ,gravy and fried okra .just fine food

Did not purchase gas or diesel so can comment on fuel prices. The exit from freeway for on and off/egress provided plenty of room/distance for large vehicles towing trailers. If you've been on the road long enough and you're not a trucker, you understand my review. Food/Drink: Snacks and what not. Regular items and a pretty good drink selection alcoholic and otherwise. Dinning Area: None. Prices: Relatively inexpensive, minus the big ticket items. Parking: Plenty of space, side and back private lots. Truck and RV spaces as well. Sleep/Shower: The accommodations are there for both room, showers, and a small bar. Although it's what you would think about in your traditional trucker movies. Just think Patrick Swayze. Bathrooms: Bathrooms were gross and comparable to the above scenario. Stock: Plenty of items, all stocked well. Odds and ends you may need on the road that you don't particularly want to stop at a Walmart or target for. Clearly priced, and placed in correct areas. Atmosphere: During the winter, pretty slow. I did not wait long at the cashier. Staff/Attendants: Staff was typical, gentlemen was on the phone the entire time, he did shop however to scan me...How nice of him. Quick process in and out. No verbal stimulus I'm afraid. An experience I have experienced before. 6.5/10

Cheap gas, and that's where the positive ends. The shop and toilets, and I would recommend you hold it, are just sort of needing to be condemned, the ultimate nasty truck stop !!!

When I'm looking for some freedom from the city, driving on the NYS Thruway is a bad take. "Hey look, there's a cement sounding wall -- ohh, and over there, it's a Tolls By Mail sign -- wait a minute, didn't we see one at every exit"? Yuck, visually, its not for me. I'll take the back roads anyway, ya NEVER know what's going on in those little poe dunk towns, many oddly pleasurable optics to be had, just be patient. The LAST CHEAP GAS sign caught my eye, swung around quickly, I'm just not looking to get T-Boned so early in the morning, maybe later tho. So I avoided an incoming Boss Hog Mobile and drove the Ho Chi Min trail about one hundred yards into a dark open clearing. Tilted gasoline pumps with a roof I tried to not park under, but they beat the townies gas prices by .15 cents a gallon, so put away the prettiest picture and pray against bad gas. They had no writing paper, so I took some Buy and Sells and no coffee was ready, it was 2:45AM - no excuses, so shave a corner from a star there too. What they lacked in paper, they made up for in automobile care needs with rows and rows of good quality oils, fluids, coolants and always grab extra windshield wiper fluid, you wouldn't want to run out and see snowy dark roads through an unwiped chalkboard of a windshield. We filled up the rig and headed for the Adirondacks because I'm feeling frisky and want to climb a mountain. Gone are the days of bombing the slopes at speeds that make your skis chatter and flex like you thought they couldn't. Skiing is still in me, but I want to feel the mountains.

This place is the worst example of a truck stop. No hot food or even hot coffee what a joke you only have one thing here that is good short lines at the fuel pumps that is it. They do not even have working bathrooms instead you have to go and use a portable John WTF is that. My best advice is to keep on rolling and pass this place by

First it's in a truck stop and you have to go into the truck stop gas station to check in. Second the area wasn't shoveled after a recent snow so I had to battle snow drifts and ice to get my bags to my room on the second floor (no elevator). I get to the room and it wasn't a single Queen as requested online. The bathroom was the most disgusting thing I'd ever seen. I had to run to a local dollar store for disposable shower shoes and a bottle of bleach. Lastly the room next door was a hooker turning tricks and there was state police patrolling the parking lot looking to bust her clients. DO NOT STAY HERE. The restaurant advertised onsite is the Mac and cheese factory when had less than stellar Yelp reviews

What a run down dump! Lots of parking. But, the restaurant was closed. The kiosk to purchase shorepower is down. It looks like a ghost town in the convenience store. If your thinking about stopping here, just go a few more miles to the new Baltimore rest area!

i paid for gas with my credit card inside The gas station I went out to pump gas there was car In front of me and hose would not reach my car I hung up the gas hose and pulled up then tried to pump my gas the gas pump was locked the guy who sold me the gas refused to give me my gas and said I'll give u gas if u pay me back tomorrow I called the police to straighten out the situation do not get gas there

This is probably the worst sorry excuse for a truck stop ever. Run-down, smelly and dirty! Now they want to charge $10 to park in their lot. The sign at the entrance says "FREE PARKING".

I liked it, beer was cold, food was hot! It was a quiet yet nice place. Wasn't crazy expensive and service was quick!

If you absolutely must stay overnight and this is your only option, lower your expectations to no frills then lower them a couple more notches. The only "red carpet" rolled out for you is a friendly check-in when they take your money. It goes downhill from there. House poor is a compliment but at least you get clean bit scratchy sheets, wifi and tv. Grubby is a good word to describe the rest. Complimentary breakfast at the Coxsackie Diner (in the main building) for one person per room puts you in a dining room that hasn't seen an update since the 60s yet the one guy on duty, who was wearing many hats, put torth a worthy effort and food that was decent enough. A bit of advice for those still on the fence... run, don't walk awayfrom the Red Carpet Inn.

Hubs and I have been to Thailand a few times. But it was only on our recent trip that we decided to try mookata in Bangkok! Since we have mookata in Singapore, we wanted to see how different it is from what we have here. You might think that with so many mookata restaurants, why did we choose to visit a commercialised brand? Well, hubs and I initially shortlisted a place called Pla Thong Mookata. The reviews, food and place were good on Google. And the best thing is that it is near our hotel in Phaya Thai ! I was so looking forward to it. As our trip was nearing, I decided to look through all the places we wanted to visit. And then I realised that Pla Thong Mookata is permanently closed! (⊙_⊙)

To be honest, I was kind of sad since I thought we could enjoy a good mookata meal the day before we flew back to Singapore. (´-ω-`) Well, we still wanted to try mookata in Bangkok, so hubs and I started to Google for alternatives. And that was when we came by Bar-B-Q Plaza and decided to check it out at Siam Centre.

We reached Bar-B-Q Plaza around 7.15 PM. And by then, there were already a few tables of people having their meal there. When we were halfway into our meal, the whole place was almost full. It seems like Bar-B-Q Plaza is a popular place for gatherings. ( ´ ω ` )

Anyway, we did not take any photos of the menu, so I don’t know what we ordered. I tried to check against photos on Google reviews, and I think ours is a Full Pork Set. The set came with a simple mushrooms and vegetables platter, pork belly, sliced chicken, pork collar, miso pork and corn with bacon. Based on the menu posted on Google, the set cost 619 THB (~24 SGD), which is quite reasonable for the amount of meat given. Aside from the set, we also ordered a bowl of fried garlic rice to have some carbs in our meal. Haha!

Every table also comes with a free flow of shredded cabbage, that is served on the side. We don’t have this in Singapore, so hubs and I were both wondering what it was for. I even thought that we were supposed to make a salad with it, like how some tonkatsu restaurants do with their free-flow cabbages. It doesn’t help that there IS a bottle of sauce on the side, so we were nearly going to make a salad with it. LOL. (・・;)ゞ Anyway, to be on the safer side, hubs and I decided to Google for an answer. But before sharing with you the answer, let me share with you how to eat mookata! ⸜(*ˊᗜˋ*)⸝

How to Eat Mookata (in Bangkok and Everywhere Else!)

The staff here at Bar-B-Q Plaza were really friendly. But once they realised that we did not speak Thai, everyone seemed to be avoiding our table. I’m not sure if this is normal, but we ended up with no one telling us how to eat the mookata. So in case this is your first time having mookata, I hope the short guide below can help you! ( ´ ▽ ` )ﾉ

The first thing you should do when having mookata is to oil the grill pan before cooking anything~! Do not panic if you do not see any oil on the table, as that is not how mookata works. Instead of cooking oil, you will be using a piece of lard to oil the grill pan. This piece of lard is found among the meat platter. It is quite easy to spot it as it is the only thing that does not make sense on the platter. Haha! Anyway, just put the lard in the middle of the grill pan and let it do its work~! (´• ω •`)ﾉ

Once the lard has helped to oil up the grill pan, it is time to cook the meat! We usually prefer to grill the meat, as with most people. But if you prefer to dip it in the “soup” as shabu-shabu, you are free to do so as well. There are no rules on how you eat everything that is on the table. (ᵔ◡ᵔ)

Usually, the mushrooms and vegetables will go right into the water to turn the water into a flavourful soup. If you want, you can also grill them on the grill pan. (¬‿¬ ) And you remember the cabbages? Well, after some Googling and observing what the locals were doing, we realised the cabbages are for the soup!

Initially, we had only added the mushrooms and vegetables into the water, but the soup still tasted quite bland. After learning about the purpose of the cabbages, adding them to the soup helped to make it taste better! They also tasted quite good after softening them in the soup. I guess you could think of them as a source of fibre after eating so much meat. ( ´ ω ` )

And if you need more water, remember to ask the staff to top it up for you~! We ended up asking them to refill once or twice as the pan was way too shallow! The water could hardly cover the vegetables when we put them in, and after some boiling, the water was just gone. LOL.

Now that you know how to prep your grilling pan and soup, it is time to know how to make the dipping sauce! Usually, in Singapore, I think the restaurants have a sauce station for us to prepare our dipping sauce. But since no one here told us anything, hubs and I were once again thrown into another round of confusion. And this time with the condiments on the table. (´･ᴗ･ ` )

Lucky for us, we found an answer on Google! You are supposed to use the condiments on the table to make your dipping sauce. The brown sauce is Bar-B-Q Plaza’s special dipping sauce, and you can add your preferred amount of green chilli and minced garlic. So basically, you just add the three into a small saucer and mix them to create your dipping sauce~! ⸜( ´ ꒳ ` )⸝

In general, I think the pork tasted quite okay for the price given. Both hubs and I have nothing to complain about it. But the corn with bacon that came with the set was kind of underwhelming. But the worst was the garlic rice. I was expecting the fragrant garlic rice that you find in Japanese restaurants. Instead, we got a bowl of garlic rice that had NO umami at all. If you want to have carbs in your meal, I don’t recommend ordering this AT ALL. (*/ω＼)

As I mentioned, the staff were generally quite friendly. They even approached our table enthusiastically. That was until they realised we didn’t speak Thai that they started avoiding eye contact with us. Haha! ┐(‘～`;)┌ Luckily we were able to figure out everything ourselves, so all was good.

The price here at Bar-B-Q Plaza is quite reasonable, but I think the food was average at best. Putting that aside, being able to have mookata in an air-conditioned environment was quite nice. We also noticed the majority of the diners seemed to be locals, so it looks like Bar-B-Q Plaza is a good place for gathering with your friends and family. Considering the price and comfort, I think it is a good place to try out mookata if you have not done this in Bangkok yet! ⸜( *ˊᵕˋ* )⸝
