Day 1: Settle in to the Hilton Waikoloa and explore Kua Bay

Catch up on some much-needed sleep on your first day, then wake up overlooking the lagoons and beach at Hilton Waikoloa. If you're lucky enough to get a Lagoon / Ocean-front room, you'll have the pleasure of watching the dolphins get fed and frolic around at the in-house Dolphin Quest . 

Explore the sprawling property of Hilton Waikoloa and get acquainted with the various restaurants, coffee and smoothie shops and many pools. 

Once you're ready to head out, start at Kua Bay. This beach is beautiful and easily swimmable, with crystal-clear waters and intriguing lava rocks. You might be lucky enough to have a family of sea turtles swim up to you. But please respect the wildlife, as they are a unique and protected species in Hawai'i. The beach is nice and large, so you shouldn't have problems finding a place to spread out, no matter what time of day you go. Parking can fill up quickly, so consider arriving earlier in the morning.

For dinner, head to downtown Kona and check out Umeke's . There may be a wait if you go during prime hours, but the amazing fish tacos and fresh poke nachos are worth it. If you're looking for desert, try Gypsea Gelato .

Day 2: Beach 69 & Mauna Kea stargazing tour

The beaches on the Big Island are truly spectacular, especially compared to some of the other non-swimmable beaches on other Hawaiian Islands. Beach 69 is famous for snorkeling. This beach has a totally different vibe than Kua Bay. There is more shade, and it's smaller and less crowded. The shade trees provide an excellent way to relax on the beach. Parking is limited and costs $5, but it is worth it! The beach has laid-back, relaxing vibe, and you'll usually only see a handful of other people there.

For lunch, try Pine Tree Cafe in downtown Kona. This is where all the locals go. Their plate lunches (and banana bread) are fresh and delicious.

Head to Mauna Kea for a stargazing tour. There are many options out there for stargazing tours, and this is one thing you can't miss out on when you vacation to the Big Island. Mauna Kea is a revered site on the island, so having the opportunity to watch the sunset and stargaze here feels magical. Most tours start around 4 or 5 pm, so mid-afternoon is a good chance to nap by the pool to prepare for a night of stargazing.

At the visitors center, take the opportunity to explore the Silverswords preservation area, where you can see these one-of-a-kind plants. After arriving at the summit, you can also see the Haleakala Crater on the island of Maui. After watching the sunset, your tour operator can drive you back down to the prime spot for stargazing, where they will out high-grade telescopes and lasers to show you unique constellations that may only be visible from Hawai'i.

Pro tip: When driving to the different locations and beaches, look out for wild goats. You might miss them standing on the lava rocks on the side of the road.

Day 3: Hike to Honokane Nui Lookout and visit Pu'ukohola Heiau

After a couple of days relaxing on the beach, explore the Big Island via hiking. Head to Pololu Valley Lookout and hike down to the black-sand beach. It is a half of a mile downhill, and from there, walk across the beach and up the Awini Trail to the Honokane Nui Lookout. It is a little steep, muddy and rocky, but the view at the top is worth the effort. If you complete this hike it will be about 3.5 miles. On your way out, stop in one of the small towns leading into Polulu to cool off with a refreshing Lilikoi Frosty.

After hiking, be sure to stop at the Pu'ukohola Heiau National Historic site. You can listen to an 30-minute audio tour while walking the half-mile loop around the temple built by King Kamehameha. This is the perfect pit stop for any history junkies. After this, track down the Hot Malasadas food truck. Malasadas are Portuguese fried doughnuts that are famous in Hawai'i; you can't miss the opportunity to try these. 

After a morning of hiking, take the time to relax by the beautiful pools at Hilton Waikoloa. There are multiple family and adults-only pools, all equally beautiful. For dinner, take a short drive or walk to the Queens Marketplace , where there are a variety of restaurants and shops. 

Alternatively, spend the entire day at the pools of the hotel simply relaxing. Then enjoy dinner at the Kamuela Provision Company , the higher-end restaurant at the hotel.

Day 4: Waipi'o Valley Lookout & Akaka Falls

Now that you've spent a few days on the Kona side of the island, it's time to head to the Hilo side, where you will experience a completely different environment. Stop at Hawaii Style Cafe in Waimea for breakfast.

From there, head to Waipi'o Valley Lookout. Parking can be limited, so the earlier start the better. For those looking for a physical challenge, start the trek down into the valley. You will see wild horses and beautiful scenery. Walk along the black-sand beach and continue on the Muliwai trail across the valley. From there you can see the stunning Ipuu and Hiilawe Falls. Both of these are located on private property, so the best way to admire them is from afar. The return hike is no joke, so you will certainly work up an appetite, just in time to stop at the Waipi'o Fruit Shack for a fresh plate of fruit and freshly cut coconut. If you're still in need of sustenance, head into Honokaa for some shopping and more restaurant options. 

Next stop: Akaka Falls State Park . These falls are surrounded by a half-mile paved loop, from which to admire the falls and surrounding vegetation. After stopping at Akaka Falls, head to Hawai'i Island Goat Dairy . You can pet the baby goats, sample some goat milk caramel and goat cheeses and meet the lovely owners. Afterwards, chase some more waterfalls by stopping at Rainbow Falls , in Hilo. If you're lucky, you'll see a rainbow in the mist coming off the waterfalls.

Depending on where you stay on the Hilo side of the island, consider getting dinner either in Hilo or Pahoa.

Day 5: Explore Volcanoes National Park

After exploring all the waterfalls yesterday, now is the time to explore the volcanoes at Volcanoes National Park . Park at the visitors center, then start at the Crater Rim Trail and go counterclockwise to the Kilauea Iki Trail. Via this route, you can walk across the Kilauea Iki Crater, where lava has hardened from a prior eruption. You will be surrounded by giant lava rocks and cave-like structures created by the 1959 eruption.

Once done hiking this trail, walk up to the Thurston Laval Tube, which is where lava previously flowed and created a large tunnel. From there, you can continue on the Crater Rim Trail down to Halema'uma'u Trail as a connector, and walk on a small portion of the Kiluea Caldera, which erupted in 2018. 

Other places to explore in the National Park include Sulphur Banks, the Steam Vents and the Kiluea Overlook. After a day of exploring volcanoes, hit up Hilo for a nice dinner.

Day 6: Visit Holei Sea Arch and Puna'lu'u Black-Sand Beach

After the Volcanoes, take the Chain of Craters Road down to the Holei Sea Arch and admire the view of the lava rocks in the sea. Take the opportunity to walk to the Pu'u Loa Petroglyphs. This is about a 1.4-mile walk across lava rocks, but the petroglyphs are truly special.

This day consists of a road trip around the south side of the island. After leaving Volcanoes, drive south to Puna'lu'u Black-Sand Beach, where you might get another glimpse of sea turtles; they love to sunbathe on the black-sand beach. Afterwards, stop at the Puna'lu'u Bake Shop for lunch and one (or two, or three) of the lilikoi-glazed doughnuts. If you have time, go to Green-Sand Beach. This requires a 4WD vehicle, or you can pay the locals $20 to drive you down. It may only be worth it if you have a significant amount of time to spend at the beach.

If you're looking for some more history, head to Place of Refuge National Park , or Pu'uhonua O Hōnaunau National Historical Park. That is where the ancient Hawaiians would go to get forgiveness when they broke the "Kapu," or law. You can opt for an hour-long self-guided audio tour on the national park app.

Stop and get dinner to go from Broke Da Mouth Grindz for a picnic on the beach prior to heading to the airport. You won't regret it!

Venture into Moorea`s lush interior along a forest trail that runs along the foot of the ancient caldera.  Pass through fragrant pineapple fields before discovering the ancient archaeological sites and then the forest of the Tahitian chestnuts (mape). The hike culminates at the Pass of The Three Pines with views of magnificent Cook`s Bay. Difficulty: easy.  Elevation gain: 660 feet. Operates: Everyday

Hiking Discovery, The Tray of the Bounty and the Pass of the Three Pines

Cross the fragrant pineapple plantations before entering the tropical forest path. From there climb to the Pass of the Three Coconuts where you may enjoy magnificent panoramic views of the ancient volcano. Finally, stop at the Tray of the Bounty for panoramic views at the foot of the volcano crater. Difficulty: moderate. Elevation gain: 850 feet.   Operates: Everyday

4x4 Safari Tour

Discover Moorea`s volcanic peaks, crystalline waters and lush hillsides on an adventurous 4x4 Safari tour. Captain Taina Wildlife Discovery

Take off on an unforgettable exploration of Moorea aboard the Honu Kea with your Polynesian guide, Captain Taina. A native of Moorea, she will tell you all about the tropical fish, turtles, coral and underwater landscape visible through the boat's glass-bottom panels. You will stop at a sand bank to have a close encounter with the playful rays and shy reef sharks before venturing on to a popular snorkeling stop where you may see the endangered green sea turtles.

ATV Adventure Raid

Journey through Moorea and Opunohu Bay on an ATV. You`ll ride to Belvedere Viewpoint and the Agricultural College at Opunohu where you`ll discover a variety of tropical plants native to Polynesia. Two of the stars of Young Sheldon have revealed how the upcoming season 7 series finale will pack a heavy emotional punch. Serving as a prequel to Chuck Lorre's hit sitcom The Big Bang Theory , Young Sheldon , which stars Iain Armitage in the titular role, debuted on CBS in September 2017, and followed the early life of child-prodigy Sheldon Cooper , growing up with his family in East Texas. With Young Sheldon season 7 , which premiered in February 2024, set to be the final season, speculation has been rife about what the final episode will have in store.

In an exclusive interview with Variety , Armitage, and Annie Potts who plays "Meemaw" on the show, discussed what fans can expect from the final episode, and how the conclusion to the series is set to be a bit of a tearjerker. The duo reminisced about their time on the show, shared their disappointment at the series being canceled, and, when asked how many tissues fans might need for the finale, they revealed that they believe it will be an emotional affair for audiences . Young Sheldon has had a strong run on CBS, and some might have been surprised to hear that the show will not be returning beyond season 7. One of the defining elements of making a great show is knowing when the time is right to end things and do justice to the stories told over that time. What's more, CBS was likely forced into the cancelation due to the age of the character , and the need to maintain canon.

Even though the show is finishing, audiences can take comfort from the fact that a Young Sheldon spinoff show is in the works , and this will seek to continue the story in some capacity. What is next for Potts and Armitage remains unclear, but they are two stars at opposite ends of the career spectrum, and it seems certain both will continue to work on successful projects even after Young Sheldon .

Mad Dog Morgan tells the story of the real-life Australian outlaw Daniel Morgan , who was known for his brutality and erratic behavior while evading capture by the authorities. A bounty of a thousand pounds was placed on his head — dead or alive — for his criminal activities. While he is widely known as Daniel Morgan, the Australian outlaw was actually born John Owen; although his first conviction in 1854 for highway robbery was under the name "John Smith." By 1863, he began using Jack Morgan along with a slew of aliases, most notable of all was Daniel Morgan , the name with which he is now widely remembered by. Morgan's robberies gained attention, but it was his murder of a Sergeant that drew the ire of law enforcement, and the aforementioned thousand-pound bounty. His continued and unrelenting attacks on the police, and his violent robberies contributed to his infamy. After his death, his beard and the skin of his face were flayed, before he was beheaded in what has been described as "most unwarranted" and an abuse of authority .

Mad Dog Morgan begins its story at an interesting point of entry, with an unfeeling police officer flanked by disinterested colleagues against a rusty wall announcing Morgan's death — that he was shot by a sergeant, an obvious sign of victory for the local police, whose reputation Morgan had tarnished. The film then moves on to show how it all started for Dennis Hopper's Morgan , beginning with his days in the goldfields. While smoking pot in Chinatown, he tells his newly-acquired friend that it's his way of forgetting the hyped gold mirage. As they get high, a posse of locals attacks the town, massacring its Chinese residents and Morgan's friend for being friends with the Chinese.

The Wild Story Behind the Film That Nearly Ended Dennis Hopper's Career

Morgan escapes the attack and abandons the gold rush, choosing instead to rob people for a living. A judge (played by Peter Collingwood ) who gives offenders long prison sentences hands him eleven years, but he is released on parole after serving six years of hard labor and enduring some of the worst human brutality, including rape. When he leaves prison, Morgan is a changed man. With his superior gunslinging skills, using elements of surprise, and teaming up with an Aboriginal man, Billy ( played by legendary Australian actor David Gulpilil ), Morgan goes on a "silver-or-lead" robbing spree or, as he tells his victims, "money or death, in that order"; with his preferred victims being rich. Mad Dog Morgan 's strange atmosphere comes from its intentionally uneven tone, stripping away the idealized notions often associated with Westerns and replacing them with an unrepentant portrayal of violence and psychological drama. Instead of heroic cowboys, Dennis Hopper's Morgan is not your typical hero – he's a broken man driven to madness by the harsh realities of the Australian frontier. He is both a bloodthirsty, murderous outlaw and a rebel against a rigged system. The film blurs moral lines, depicting Morgan at times as vulnerable and reflective , expressing envy towards a victim's beautiful family. However, Morgan is also perceived by some as fighting for justice. His alliance with Billy is akin to a revenge mission, confronting the white settlers who seized Billy's ancestral Aboriginal land. Although not as non-linear as Hopper's previous outing The Last Movie , Mad Dog Morgan disrupts the traditional Western formula that builds tension towards a final showdown by starting with Morgan's death announcement. This inverted storytelling creates a sense of mystery and also reflects Morgan's troubled life. With the announcement of Morgan's death, we are introduced to the film's violent and cynical nature.

Dennis Hopper Gives an Underrated Performance in 'Mad Dog Morgan'

Dennis Hopper embodies Morgan's descent from a disillusioned prospector to a vengeful outlaw with captivating believability. In the film's early scenes, Morgan shows a flicker of idealism by beating up a racist bully he considers a cheat. At this stage, though his violent tendencies are evident, a glimmer of hope shines through his eyes as he believes that things could change if the wrong guys are eliminated. However, as Morgan faces brutality and injustice, Hopper subtly conveys a hardening of his features and a growing sense of despair. He gives money to the poor, not out of concern for them, but because he believes they will come to his rescue someday, perhaps by informing on the police who are chasing him down. Hopper embodies Morgan's horrific prison experience with chilling intensity , allowing the audience to witness the profound impact of these events on Morgan's psyche. As a brutal outlaw, Hopper's eyes blaze with manic energy, and his unpredictable outbursts create a constant sense of danger. One victim even calls out how his menacing eyes undressed her. What to do when data is not working while in US?

It is BEST to insert the SIM in the US to activate signal connection. So that if you need to go to Canada, network connection to AT&T is already set and you can easily go on roaming.

You can try inserting SIM in Canada, but you may experience network connection issues as it is best to stabilize AT&T connection first in the US.

If you are to test the SIM in the USA before your travel, please make sure to allot at least 3 hours for the entire activation process to finish. (Text or Call will not work in USA). After testing, remove the SIM card and reboot your phone once landed in your destination country. 

NOTE: Three UK setting messages can take up to 3 hours to come. Device needs to be kept on during the entire period. If it's more than that, please text or call us at +1 (702) 850-2781 or send us message through Amazon so we can check the status for you.

For an activated SIM, it can be re-used within 6 months, but you need to top up with full plan value because initial plan is only good for 30 days.

You can activate SIM card any time you want but plan will last for 30 days from date of activation. Once activated, insert the SIM only when you arrive in Europe.

The product offers Hotspot/Tethering only while in UK using an unlocked GSM Phone. SIM does not work in a Hotspot devce or MIFI.

• O2 has expiry dates with DD-MM-YYYY format written on the SIM card.

I did insert it in the US for a few minutes and took it out. What will happen?

When you arrive in your destination in UK, you may need to choose O2 network manually, go to Settings>Cellular/Mobile>Network Selection.

Saguaro National Park offers travelers an iconic slice of the Southwest

Get your camera ready for Saguaro National Park .

The park is home to the tallest cactus species in the country and a symbol of the Southwest, the saguaro, They’re particularly concentrated in the west district of the park, just outside Tuscon, Arizona.

“We like to call that one the Instagram side because you can literally go anywhere in the park, and there will be at least two or three dozen saguaros in the background of your photo,” said Cam Juárez, Community Engagement and Outreach coordinator and public information officer at the park.

Why is Saguaro National Park worth seeing?

“Saguaros are super special because they only exist in this part of the world the way they do,” said Juárez. “You can visit certain parts of Mexico, you can visit certain parts of central Arizona, but you’re never going to see them the way you see them here.”

They’re not the only scenic beauties in the biodiverse park. 

“Our peaks are in the neighborhood of around 9,000 feet,” Juárez said. Visitors can find aspen, pine and fir trees in its sky islands. “As you climb every few 100 feet down in elevation, you're experiencing different biomes all the way down to grasslands, to desert shrub, to basically just what you would imagine a desert to look like.”

Which side is better for Saguaro National Park?

The park is divided into east and west districts, which bookend Tucson. Tucson International is the closest airport.

“My favorite is the west district, just because I love seeing the saguaro. You're going to have 2 million, versus maybe a quarter million saguaros on the east side,” Juárez said. “But if you're a backcountry hiker and you want to hike long distances, the east district, Rincon Mountain District, is definitely better.” 

He noted the Arizona Trail , from the U.S.-Mexico border up to the Grand Canyon, goes right through the east district. 

Can I drive in Saguaro National Park?

Yes. There is a $25 vehicle entry fee for the park, which is cashless. 

Visitors can purchase passes online at Recreation.gov or at a park kiosk using a debit or credit card.

How long does it take to go through Saguaro National Park?

You could visit both sides of the park in one day but may be better off with two.

“If you only have one day, definitely take the Cactus Forest loop ,” Juárez recommended. Cactus Forest Drive is a scenic 8-mile roadway in the east district. The west district has a 5-mile Bajada Loop Drive.

What is the best time to visit Saguaro National Park?

Juárez called October and mid-November magical. That’s just before the park’s busiest time of year, which he said runs from after Thanksgiving through April.

“Two times a year, we see a lot of rainstorms,” he added. “We have our traditional summer monsoons, and we have our winter rains. As a bimodal desert, you're going to see different blossoms at different times of the year.”

He said monsoons amplify the park’s already magnificent sunsets.

“The different colors of red and yellows and golds, coupled with purple skies, it's just everything that you see on postcards,” he said. “It just comes alive.”

What does the saguaro mean to Native Americans?

“The Tohono O’odham have a very special relationship with the park. Their whole culture revolves around the saguaro cactus, or as they call it, the Ha:san ,” Juárez said. Tribal members may harvest the fruit for traditional uses with a special permit through the Interior Department and National Park Service. “The fruit is harvested as part of their traditional medicine, their traditional foods. A lot of ceremonial wines come from that.”

He said other tribes tied to the land include Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Gila River Indian Community .

What else should visitors know about Saguaro?

“I would love for people to know that Saguaro National Park is making a concerted effort to be conscientious of the fact that the representation matters,” Juárez said. “ Friends of Saguaro National Park , in conjunction with our team here, developed what's called the Next Generation Ranger program, and it's not just a paid internship. It's an opportunity for (interns) to gain experience and gain what's called the Public Land Corps credit opportunity, which will help us diversify not just race and ethnicity but also ability and gender …  so when you walk into Saguaro National Park, you're going to run into very knowledgeable, very experienced, diverse young people that are matching our country's identity.”

Nearly 45% of the Tucson population is of Hispanic or Latino heritage, according to the U.S. Census . Several park staffers speak Spanish, including Juárez. 

“It comes in handy because we're not just talking our friends to the south. We're talking all the way down to Central America and South America that are visiting national parks,” he said, adding that sometimes they’ll welcome visitors in Spanish. “You should see the look on people's faces. They're like, ‘Wow, you speak my language.’ I encourage all of my coworkers and staff people to make it a point to try to at least learn how to say welcome and hello in different languages.”

National parks for every body: How to make the outdoors more accessible

The park is also making a concerted effort to welcome guests of all abilities. Both districts offer a variety of accommodations, including accessible trails , braille and large-text versions of the park brochure, touchable exhibits, captioned programs and more.

“I definitely am an active voice, as a person with a physical disability, that says we can't just give folks a smidgen of what able-bodied individuals can get,” Juárez said. “We should make a very concerted effort to expand on everything we've done so far.”

Despite some considerable economic and geopolitical challenges, Hamburg-based travel retailer Gebr. Heinemann managed to slightly exceed 2019 sales for the first time since the pandemic, with year-over-year growth of 25%.

The fifth-generation family-owned company is now looking very positively at 2024 after a strong first quarter that was 24% ahead of the same period last year and above budget forecasts. On Thursday, co-CEO Raoul Spanger said that €4 billion was within sight. He told gathered media: “Strategic investments in the group’s business portfolio from 2023 will come into full effect this year (and) turnover should reach a new all-time high in 2024 and exceed €4 billion.”

Those investments included the buyout of its joint venture business in Israel—mainly at Tel Aviv Airport but also some border stores—to take 100% control, and the establishment of a regional office in Dubai from which to spearhead distribution, and eventually store operations, in the Middle East and Africa. One target will likely be Angola's new airport in the capital, Luanda.

The travel retailer’s business is dominated by Europe with 59% of turnover (€2.1 billion) last year. The region—where the retailer’s top airport locations are Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Oslo, and Vienna—also had the fastest growth (24%), largely on the back of rising passenger numbers.

However, Norway, historically one of Heinemann’s biggest sales hotspots, was negatively impacted by the imposition of much lower limits on tobacco allowances and the devaluation of the Norwegian krone.

Stability in geographical diversity

Geographical diversification offers greater resilience when it comes to country legislative shocks and currency volatility, and also regional impacts. For example, last year, the continuing fighting in Gaza, triggered by a deadly Hamas attack in southern Israel on October 7, came out of the blue and hit travel and retail sales at Tel Aviv Airport in the final quarter.

Heinemann’s sales director for Middle East Africa, Bernard Schlafstein said that it would have been a record year at Tel Aviv had the war not started. Naturally, this impacted the growth for the whole Middle East & Africa business which ended the year up 18%, but would have been higher.

Bernard Schlafstein described the retail performance at Istanbul Airport as “unstoppable.”

On the plus side, the nature of the shopping at Israel's biggest airport means that revenue has picked up quickly. Depressed tourism is not a major factor for store sales as it is outbound Israelis doing most of the buying, and collecting their purchases on return.

That non-reliance on foreign tourism is borne out by results this year. Schlafstein commented: “Our numbers are almost back to last year at around 85% to 90%, even though the passenger figures are much lower.” One key purchase driver is that pricing at the airport is significantly lower than in the domestic market. This has led to very high average transaction values (ATVs) in the core duty-free shop where about 80 pay-points are present to cater to the enormous demand.

However, the standout location was Istanbul Airport where Heinemann operates with its joint venture partners Unifree and ATU Duty Free. There, turnover surpassed €1 billion and Schlafstein described it as “unstoppable.”

With the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, rich Russians have been using the gateway—and also Dubai International (where they are the second most important nationality for Dubai Duty Free)—as a connecting route to other destinations. Their presence meant that last year at Istanbul, 40% of fashion turnover came from Russians. This year, so far, revenue at the Turkish Airlines hub is above budget for Heinemann.

6/12/20:  A new side-scrolling adventure game has arrived today on Apple Arcade called  Little Orpheus .

The year is 1962 and NASA are trying to put a man on the moon. In a remote corner of Siberia, a Soviet cosmonaut is heading in the other direction. 6/4/20:  It doesn’t look like we’re getting a new Apple Arcade title this week but there is a major update for the popular RPG  Oceanhorn 2 with the Golden Edition today (via CNET ). The expansion marks a great time to replay the game or jump in for the first time.

5/28/20: Apple Arcade has added a new game from Nickelodeon called SpongeBob: Patty Pursuit . Here’s how it’s described:

4/17/20:  Apple Arcade has gained two new titles today with Beyond Blue and A Fold Apart . The former is a deep-sea diving adventure game and the latter is a “love story in a paper world” puzzler.

4/10/20:  The new side-scroller  Scrappers is now available on Apple Arcade.

1/24/20: The newest title for Apple Arcade is Butter Royale , a “Buttery food fight, battle royale style!”
