Don't take our word for it... See what our clients have to say!

Everything worked perfectly! The hotel was good, it was a short walk down a nearby lane to a tram stop on Collins St, it was a few minutes on the tram to the Jolimont/MCG stop, and then a short walk to the MCG.  Our gate was the first one we came to, entry was a breeze, walked straight onto an escalator and got off near the members area, and then a very short walk to the seats.  As we sat down on the morning of the first day, I was just amazed at how easy it had all been. Great seats, too. Rob

Will definitely do another trip with you guys in the future. Big thumbs up to all CATO staff, accommodation on tour was brilliant, organisation of all the travel was brilliant, guest speakers and functions also brilliant. I will be highly recommending that anyone thinking of a cricket tour do it with CATO. Daryl

Just emailing to pass our compliments about the service we received. My wife has some skin problems in the sun, so I discussed situation with your incredible staff and they went above and beyond to help find some shade for us. Please pass our thanks, I've been all over watching sport and your ladies are the most fantastically caring people I've ever had dealings with. John

We had an amazing time and it was a trip that I will never ever forget. Waking up to my seats on Day 1 and seeing the old pavilion for the first time gave me goose bumps and was incredible. Thanks again for your help with the last minute changes which put me at ease knowing you had that under control. Now that I know what you guys do and how good you are, you can guarantee that I will come back in the coming years to book something in! (I think The Oval in 4 years is on the cards! Steve

Just a short note to recognise the fantastic job you did organising aisle seating at both Headingley and Old Trafford for both myself and my mother. THANK YOU! The seats were fabulous. I appreciate that catering for our needs wouldn’t have been easy. We had a really good holiday made all the better because of people such as yourself. James

Despite those couple of wet days, we had a fantastic time. A great group of people, an excellent tour guide and terrific Tests both at Edgbaston and Lords. We just wish we were there for the Third Test – to see England bowled out for 67. Glenn

It was the experience of a lifetime and a privilege to see Steve Smith. We had great seats thanks to you and they got better each day, culminating in the best seats on the last day. Deborah

The tour was absolutely fantastic. CATO organised a great tour, very professional and nothing was ever a problem to yourselves or our tour director. Thank you for an amazing time. I look forward to travelling with CATO again. Deb

I'd like to pass on my gratitude regarding the most recent Sydney test match. The tickets at the SCG were absolutely fantastic. The Wednesday night function involving Glenn McGrath and company was very engaging and being able to hear from players and commentators both past and present was an absolute highlight. Please keep up the great work. I have done other sports tours in the past and by far this was the absolute smoothest I have ever experienced. Anthony

Thank you very much for organising such wonderful test match packages. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our Ashes experiences. You and your staff have done a great job! We will be using CATO again in the future. Sue

I would like to thank you very much for arranging a fantastic tour. All the Tour Leaders were extremely helpful on all occasions and nothing was ever a problem. The functions, dinners, hotels & transfers were all great. My travelling friend and l met some terrific people on tour and it certainly was a great experience as you promised. We can now cross off the bucket list the dream of watching an Ashes Test at Lords. Thank you again for a fantastic tour. Jeff

Aussies head back to the future in latest Test schedule

Aussies head back to the future in latest Test schedule

The scheduling of January away Test tours for Australia's men is a break with tradition, but it's not unprecedented

Such is the difficulty scheduling an increasing number of teams and formats into an ever-diminishing window of opportunities for bilateral global cricket, Australia's men's Test team is destined to compete at times and locations rarely visited over the past century.

As documented in Future Tours Program (FTP) released this week by the ICC – which outlines every Test-playing nation's bilateral commitments through until April 2027 – Australia's men's Test team will undertake overseas tours at the height of summer here and be engaged in home matches as late in the season as March.

That would represent a radical departure from scheduling Australia fans have come to accept over past decades when the men's Test summer habitually stretched from November to January.

But while the need to find more flexibility in a program that requires greater logistical dexterity than a three-dimensional Wordle requires innovative solutions, neither of the eyebrow-raising scenarios confronting Pat Cummins' team is unprecedented.

The decision to schedule January-February Test matches in Sri Lanka (2025) and India (2027) means Australia's premier men's outfit will be offshore in those months for the first time since 1970, although the practice was commonplace through the preceding 70 years.

Initially it was to accommodate Tests in South Africa – the first after Australia and England to become a Test nation (in 1889) – with teams breaking their ocean voyage to or from Ashes contests to play matches at Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town.

However, from 1935 to 1967 a standalone Australia Test sojourn to South Africa became a feature of the international playing schedule and, with those series played during southern hemisphere summer, cricket fans in Australia sometimes went without local Test cricket for years at a time.

Test-free Australia summers were a regular event up until 1969-70 when Bill Lawry's team embarked on an epic tour to Sri Lanka (then Ceylon), India (five Tests), Zimbabwe (then Rhodesia) and South Africa (four Tests) that meant they were away from late October until mid-March.

From that point, Australia has hosted at least one touring Test outfit every summer (although official records don't recognise the 1971-72 'Rest of the World' tour hurriedly arranged when South Africa were banned from international sport) and no away Tests have been scheduled during December or January.

That's despite the growing influence of limited-overs formats during the same period, with the first one-day international staged in 1971 and T20 added to the playing roster in 2005.

As a result of the squeeze that now sees 12 nations playing three formats on the latest FTP, as well as more than two months excised from the calendar to ensure player availability for the Indian Premier League, Australia are headed back to the future.

The two Tests in Sri Lanka are slated for late January-early February 2025 and immediately follow the first expanded Test series against India which (as was the case in the teams' inaugural meeting in 1947-48 and for numerous subsequent series) will return to five-match campaigns.

But it's the fixturing of another off-shore Test tour in the middle of Australia summer – to India for five Tests from mid-January 2027 – that heralds an even more historic shift in scheduling here.

In the wake of that India sojourn, Australia's Test men are due to return home to begin a two-Test series against Bangladesh that will be staged in March 2027, ending a 24-year drought between Tests here for the Islamic nation.

Not only were early autumn Test matches in Australia once de rigueur, the very first series of what would become the Ashes rivalry comprised two games staged at the MCG from March 15 to April 4, 1877.

Those historic encounters also represented the first and last time a Test match in Australia lingered into April, but there have been a couple of notable occasions over the past 50 years when autumn scheduling was employed, albeit under exceptional circumstances.

The first was the 1977 Centenary Test that was programmed to closely replicate the timing of the inaugural occasion 100 years earlier, and most recently during the World Series Cricket split of 1978-79 when the then Australian Cricket Board scheduled an eight-Test summer.

Following six Ashes Tests that season stretching from the start of December to mid-February and yielding England's most successful campaign down under (a 5-1 win), Pakistan arrived following their tour to New Zealand and played matches in Melbourne and Perth from March 10-29, 1979.

The glut of games scheduled by the ACB that summer – which also included four completed ODIs between Australia and England – came as the rival WSC troupe staged more than 20 one-dayers as well as five 'Super Tests', all but a handful of which were played as day-night fixtures.

Certainly administrators would have been readily convinced not to stage either of those Pakistan Tests in Sydney given the previous three March Tests held at the SCG – dating back to the 1930-31 visit by West Indies – had each surrendered at least one day to early autumn rain.

More pressing than weather concerns in recent years has been cricket's requirement to hand over its stadia in every mainland capital to Australian rules football which reclaims and reconfigures the venues for its winter competition prior to the start of April.

The other men's Test schedule details contained in the latest FTP offer greater familiarity.

Australia will travel to South Africa for three matches in October 2026, after a planned visit there in early 2021 was postponed over safety concerns relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While this series is mandated by the ICC under its World Test Championship programming and is not, therefore, a rescheduling of that postponed fixture, it highlights the planning issues that stem from South Africa’s preference to prioritise domestic T20 matches during January and the encroachment of IPL into the Proteas’ traditional March home Test match window.

It's also not unusual for Australia to play away Tests when the domestic home summer is already underway, with the most recent examples being the 2018 and 2014 series against Pakistan in the UAE, both of which took place during October.

In addition to next year's proposed World Test Championship final –at Lord's in early June next year, and with Australia squarely in the frame as they sit near the top of the current table – Cummins will lead his first Ashes defence in the UK in June-July 2023.

The early programming of that campaign, to enable the England and Wales Cricket Board ‘clear air’ in August to stage the Hundred, means it will be the first Ashes series in the more than 140 years Australia have played Tests in the UK to be completed by the end of July.

The 2023-24 Australia summer sees Pakistan playing three Tests with the West Indies also returning for two Tests towards summer's end, the second time in as many seasons they will have toured Australia which further underscores the complexities involved with modern scheduling.

Apart from two Tests in New Zealand in February-March, Australia faces no away Test matches between home summers during 2024, a period of the international calendar dominated by white-ball cricket including a landmark T20 World Cup jointly hosted by West Indies and the USA during June.

The home summer of 2024-25 sees India undertake its first five-Test tour to Australia since 1991-92, immediately followed by Australia's 'in-season' visit to Sri Lanka in late January-early February 2025 prior to the ICC ODI Champions Cup knockout tournament in Pakistan.

A further two Tests are then scheduled for the West Indies in June-July 2025 – what will be Australia's first such visit to the Caribbean in a decade – during a year that is also slated to host another iteration of the World Test Championship final. The series was scaled back from three Tests at the request of the Windies to accommodate three more profitable T20 fixtures.

The next home Ashes series will be held in 2025-26 before the T20 World Cup in India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and the final year of the new FTP features the inaugural Test between Australia and Afghanistan (likely in Australia's Top End) after last year's proposed fixture in Hobart was postponed.

That historic encounter will be followed by Australia's three-Test tour to South Africa with 2026-27 home Test series against NZ (three in December-January) and Bangladesh (two in March) to be staged either side of the five-Test tour to India in January-February 2027.

Australian Cricket Tours - Abbreviated Branding That Reads A.C.T.

Australian Cricket Tours

Australian Cricket Tours - Luke Gillian Included In The Australia Team Photograph In Front Of The Pavilion, Whilst Celebrating 200 Australian Test Matches At Lord's Cricket Ground During The Ashes Test Cricket Series 2019 | London

‘Australian Cricket Tours’  formerly toured under the brand ‘ Waving The Flag ’ (a.k.a. The Flag), which was created by long time Australian cricket tourist, Luke 'Sparrow' who has been touring with Australian Cricket since 1995.

"Welcome to Australian Cricket Tours!

I am proudly the only Australian spectator to have seen Australia play in all Test nations (plus the U.A.E.) that Australia has competed.

Since my first cricket tour to the West Indies in 1995 I have lived in London (still on my Australian passport!), from where it is more convenient and affordable to travel the cricket world. After my first Australian Test Match was enjoyed at home in Melbourne, my 200th Australian Test Match was celebrated in London, at  Lord's Cricket Ground in August 2019, which was graciously lauded with great thanks by Cricket Australia .

Australian Cricket Tours - Luke Gillian Included In The Australia Team Photograph In The Pavilion Long Room, Whilst Celebrating 200 Australian Test Matches At Lord's Cricket Ground During The Ashes Test Cricket Series 2019 | London

Travel habits have changed markedly since 1995 when one had to visit Australian missions to read tour squad selections in Australian newspapers. Now with everything at your fingertips, cricket tours, and squads, can be researched and booked online from the comfort of your living room but you ultimately may still wonder ‘what happens when I get there?’ What I came to appreciate is that the game is far more enjoyable with others.

Australian Cricket Tours - Luke Gillian With The Great Steve Waugh, Justin Langer, Brad Haddin, And England's Daly Thompson On The Eve Of The Ashes Test Match At Lord's 2019 | London

Having followed Australia to all Test Nations from 1995, after being contacted by countless wishing to 'do what I do', I commenced (with my mate Darren Moulds (ret.)) organising ' fun and affordable crick et tours ' under the brand ' Waving The Flag' ; our first tour to India in Feb 2001.

From basic tours of match tickets, a bed, and yellow shirt, 'The Flag' matured to fully escorted tours that included quality hotels or apartments, airport transfers, domestic travel, day trips, dinner parties, nightly entertainment, and so much more.

Australian Cricket Tours - Celebrating 200 Australian Test Matches At Lord's Cricket Ground That Too Was Celebrating Their 200 Years | Lord's Cricket Ground | London

Our simple approach bound everyone with such enthusiasm that more & more ‘Flaggers’ travelled year after year. Not only to stay safe in numbers but knowing life at the game with many great people made a far more memorable trip.

Many that tour with us have travelled the world independently & confidently, driving , hiking, biking, walking, cruising, or flying across 7 continents yet still join ' Australian Cricket Tours ' to enjoy the experience with awesome people

Some have toured since 1995 and it is those and the friendships garnered in the terraces over the years that continue to build our reputation. Those that first toured with us in India in 2001 now very much appreciate a 4 or 5 star hotels we now stay, and the services we offer.

Our early 'budget focussed' tours were to help more people travel the world to support Australian Cricket, yet staying in backpackers, cheap hotels, or guesthouses under a relaxed and fun brand, hosting upwards of 250 people on each tour, became a curse. As our brand matured, we evolved from 2006 onwards to staying in higher-end hotels, including transfers and group flights, and a lot more comfort and benefits.

Yet year after year people would tell us how they would love to tour with us but don't want to stay in backpackers. We haven't 'backpacked' per se since 2006, even then, in South Africa, we offered backpackers and apartments. This is why we encourage people to read our tour pages in depth, to understand what you are booking, including the hotels that we hyperlink for your benefit, so you can see where we are staying, and decide if you want to stay there too.

Australian Cricket Tours - We Have Evolved From Being The Only Australian Spectators In The Ground To Bringing More Than 650 To Watch The Game

To fully detach from the false expectation of low hotel standards, in 2017 we ditched 'Waving The Flag' and moved to what we do and are, ' Australian Cricket Tours '. A brand not wrongly interpreted as a group of yellow-shirt wearing ' fooligans ' .

We were never 'fooligans', but couldn't shake people's idea that we were, no matter how focussed we were on simply helping people enjoy cricket across the world, safely, knowing the game visits places far less comforting than your living room. So, here we are now with the more formal and 'internet friendly brand', 100% focussed on  bringing people together at the game and little else.

Australian Cricket Tours - We Enjoy Watching Cricket With Hundreds Of People No Matter Where We Play

Depending on where we go contributes to what we include and services we offer. We list inclusions on each tour, often leaving you to get to/from the airport, choose your preferred sight-seeing and make your own way to the game. At our pre-game dinner party, we distribute match tickets and detail how to reach each venue if we are not driving you. We also provide indepth information (see link below) before you tour so you better understand what to expect.

  • Sri Lanka Cricket Tour Information

Australian Cricket Tours - Luke Gillian With The Great Australian Captain Steve Waugh After The Ashes Match At Old Trafford, Manchester, During The Ashes Test Cricket Series 2019 | London | England

As simple as our Australian Cricket Tours are, we are still there to assist and organise. We employ people that have toured with us for more than 20 years to assist and advise you on each tour, and organise important ground work that, like our tours, is fully based on their experience of having been there.

If test matches end early we organise day trips to fill the gap, and we go out each night after play, none of which you are obliged to partake. We leave you to do what you want before or after each match, when you want, however you want… without the need to pay for inclusions you may not need or want.

Being UK based doesn't change our passion towards Australian Cricket. Not long ago a couple chose not to tour with us because they wanted to (using their words) 'keep their money in Australia' .

You're going to watch Australia play cricket overseas; your money will leave Australia one way or the other so please consider our near 30 years experience, knowledge, simplicity, and value we bring to your cricket touring, rather than where we are based.

I look forward to welcoming you and helping you experience Australian Cricket overseas before long.

Thank you for visiting, and touring!

Premium Sport Tours have conducted more international cricket tours than any other sporting or travel company in Australia. Our experience in this field has allowed us to obtain an intimate knowledge of the destinations we visit, the hotels to stay at, the sights worth seeing, even down to the finer points of each tour match such as where the best seats are at each ground. With ground operators that we have been dealing with for over many years, it is comforting to know that all arrangements and contingencies have been taken into account and that we are using reputable operators.

After an massive 2023, where we visited India and England for 10 test matches, it's time to look forward to 2024. The Australian Men's Test team will visit New Zealand for a two test series before our short form team head to the West Indies and USA for the ICC T20 World Cup. It's been a while since we've stepped foot in the Caribbean, I for one cannot wait for this tour!

You’ll be bowled over by our Ashes tour offerings – this really is the only way to visit Australia.

We always look forward to celebrating Christmas in Melbourne ahead of the Boxing Day Test, and then jetting over to Sydney and enjoying a prime position to enjoy the city’s famous New Year’s Eve fireworks.

When it comes to parties, the hottest ticket in town is undoubtedly our exclusive boat party in Sydney’s famous harbour – so come dressed to impress!

The Australia Experts

We’ve been travelling here for decades, and during that time we’ve picked up plenty of insider knowledge and expert insight on all things Australia.

We know the best places to stay across the country, from Sydney to the Sunshine Coast, Adelaide to Alice Springs and Kimberley to Kangaroo Island. Previous Ashes tours with our team have included:

  • Appearances from Michael Atherton and David Lloyd
  • Watching Carmen at the Sydney Opera House
  • Cruises through the Whitsundays
  • Whale watching boat tours and, of course,
  • Plenty of laughs.

What this means is that a tour to Australia to watch the Ashes is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The Ashes - Key Destinations

As well as watching a crucial Ashes clash, we include plenty of leisure time for you to enjoy the many enticing experiences this iconic city has to offer; from the beach at Bondi to the best ‘hatted’ restaurants in town, island hopping in the harbour to learning more about Australia’s aboriginal culture.

A city known for its ‘English’ charm and the Adelaide Oval - widely regarded as the most picturesque Test ground in the world – the capital city of South Australia is a fabulous destination on our tours. With its wide avenues, large squares and colonial architecture, Adelaide is certainly one of Australia’s prettiest cities, offering a laid-back pace and plenty of sunshine.

Within easy reach of beaches, untouched island reserves and heritage-listed forests, the capital of Queensland has all the benefits of a cosmopolitan city in a natural wonderland, with the Sunshine Coast to the north and the Gold Coast to the south. The Gabba cricket ground is an unbeatable venue for top-quality cricket.

With a relaxed and easy-going atmosphere on the banks of the Swan River, the natural and urban worlds meet in this western metropolis to create a space made for exploring. Experience a river cruise to Fremantle or relax on Rottnest Island before joining us at the WACA for the Perth instalment of The Ashes.

Enjoy the traditional Boxing Day Test at the famous MCG, as well as all the celebrations of the festive season in the sun; whether on a drive along the Great Ocean Road or with a spot of Christmas shopping! Arts and culture abound here in Victoria’s capital, so perhaps use a day at leisure to explore Melbourne’s finest galleries and exhibitions.

England in australia: the ashes, 2025-26.

It’s the big one. England visit Australia seeking to regain the urn. And, after an eight-year wait (thanks, Covid!) England fans can be there.

After a 2-2 series draw in England in 2023, Australia have now had their hands on the Ashes since 2018, and Ben Stokes’s cavalier side face a tremendous test if they are to buck the recent trend.

The Ashes offers two months of headline sporting drama, set across five characterful Australian cities: Brisbane , Adelaide , Perth , Melbourne and Sydney .

While the precise dates for the games are yet to be released, the venues are well known.

  • The Gabba in Brisbane, a fortress that has witnessed countless epic battles.
  • Adelaide Oval, known for its picturesque setting and electric atmosphere.
  • Perth Stadium, a modern marvel, though we’ll miss the charm of the WACA.
  • Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the coliseum of cricket, steeped in history.
  • Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), where many a tale of Ashes heroics has been scripted.

International Cricket Tours offer a meticulously crafted itinerary to ensure you soak in everything that makes Australia Australian. From sun-kissed beaches to rugged outback, bustling cities to serene vineyards, we’ve got it all covered. And if you’re keen on extending your stay or making a pitstop en-route, just give us a nod. We’re here to tailor-make your dream Ashes experience.

With our cricket touring experts at the helm, you’re not just signing up for matches; you’re enrolling for an experience. From the first ball bowled to the last sightseeing expedition, we promise a journey that’s as exhilarating off the field as on it.

Register your interest in our exclusive Ashes package today, and be a part of cricketing history.

This will be the first Ashes tour open to visiting fans for eight years, and we have no doubt it will be in high demand. Plan early to avoid disappointment.

Returning spinner earns central contract as 17-strong Australian list named

Upon a strong international comeback, spin-bowling all-rounder Sophie Molineux has earned a Cricket Australia central contract as part of a 17-player group for 2024/2025.

Cricket Australia announced the list on Monday, with the contract period including both a T20 World Cup in Bangladesh and a much-anticipated multi-format Ashes series on home soil.

The 26-year-old had been upgraded during Australia's tour of Bangladesh and keeps her spot for the new contract period, while Meg Lanning drops off the list following her international retirement in November.

Ricky Ponting praises Meg Lanning's contributions | The ICC Review

Upon the announcement, Cricket Australia’s Head of Performance and National Selector Shawn Flegler praised Molineux's fight to hold down a place in the Australian XI after coming back from a run of injuries, and the depth of the playing group ready to represent the country.

"We’re really pleased to be able to offer Soph (Molineux) a contract after her successful return to the side this summer.

"She’s shown a great deal of resilience to get back to full fitness and she’ll play an important role next summer.

"We feel the list features a great deal of depth and a variety of skillsets that will come into play throughout the various series scheduled for 2024-25, including the T20 World Cup and multi-format Ashes series."

Having returned from their successful tour Bangladesh, the nation hosting the upcoming T20 World Cup, the Australian team will begin preparation training camps from May to prepare for the global tournament, and host New Zealand for three T20Is in early September.

After the T20 World Cup, Australia host India and New Zealand for three ODIs each, before their Ashes series against old foes Eanglande from January 12.

Players not awarded contracts as part of the initial 17 can earn a contract throughout the year by accruing upgrade points, earned after appearing in international fixtures.
