Fall 2022 Disney Cruise Costs

For a fall 2022 Disney Cruise Line vacation, there are a variety of options at different price points. A family of four can take a cruise for under $3,000 or over $7,000 depending on their ship of choice, stateroom, length of trip, ports of call, and more. So, if you want to take a trip with your family and you are on a budget or you are willing to splurge, there is a Disney Cruise that is right for you.

For example, onboard the Disney Dream, a three-night Halloween on the High Seas cruise from Miami, Florida, in September 2022 will start at $2,768 for an Inside Stateroom for a family of two adults and two children. The price goes up as the stateroom type is upgraded.

Similarly, onboard the newest Disney Cruise ship, the Disney  Wish,  a three-night Very Merrytime cruise from Port Canaveral, Florida, in November 2022 will start at $3,307 for an Inside Stateroom for a family of four. Again, as the stateroom type is upgraded, the price increases.

Many Disney fans are looking to book holiday cruises (either for Halloween or Christmas) with itineraries that offer two stops at Castaway Cay , Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

A five-night Halloween on the High Seas cruise on the Disney  Dream  in September 2022 will cost a family of four $4,374 for an Inside Stateroom, as seen below:

However, if you are not looking for a holiday-themed cruise and you want to take a longer trip, you can sail on the Disney Magic  for nearly the same price. A seven-night southern Caribbean cruise for a family of four has a starting cost of $4,861 in November 2022.

Disney Cruise Line also has several itineraries for trips that will take place in locations beyond the Caribbean in 2022. You can set sail to Alaska, England, Norway, or San Diego, and you can even take a transatlantic cruise.

Disney Cruise Line’s Summer 2022 Sailings – A Look at Opening Day Prices

The recently announced Summer 2022 Disney Cruise Line sailings went on sale today for Platinum Castaway Club members as well as residents of Disney’s Golden Oak. Sailings began to appear online in the 6 o’clock hour, well before the phone lines opened at 8:00 AM Eastern.

Now, it is time to take a look at the opening day pricing for the Summer 2022 Disney Cruise sailings. Please keep in mind, the pricing information is not available to view online for Gold & Silver Castaway Club Members, and first-time cruisers. As tiered booking windows open this week, the sailings will appear bases individual Castaway Club status.

Below, I’ve collected the opening day pricing, lowest price per stateroom category, based on double occupancy (2 adults) for all of the Summer 2022 cruises to provide a general idea on where the cruises are priced. I realize this does not take into account onboard booking, or a more detailed quote for your sailing party. The idea for this post was simply to get baseline pricing for each cruise and I felt 2 adults provided the baseline for double occupancy to help everyone plan for Gold, Silver, and first-time cruisers booking windows. The pricing is grouped by ship and itinerary for more of an apples to apple comparison.

One last note, the pricing below is representative of a snapshot in time on opening day. As cruises book, prices will increase and stateroom availability will dwindle. The pricing below includes taxes, fees & port expenses for 2 adults.

Dear Scott, thank you for the work you keep on doing for all of us, even the ones living in europe. Talking about europe and DCL and Meyer´s shipyard in Papenburg/germany and Meyer´s second shipyard in R‌ostock/germany (at the baltic sea), where they build certain parts of the Wish as they did with the Fantasy and the Dream, you keep sending us videos showing the “journey of those ship´s-parts” from the baltic sea (Rostock) to Papenburg (located close to the Netherlands at the north sea), and show the transit through the KIEL-CANAL (aka Nord-Ostseekanal) which is the connection between baltic and northern seas and similar beautiful as the Panama-canal is. There comes my question, how to convince DCL to offer passages through that Kiel-canal, on their Disney magic northern cruises which would save at least one day cruising around Denmark with no shore-excursion there and cruising through that Kiel-canal, showing guest the absolute beauty of northern Germany´s Schleswig Holstein and the southernmost parts (almost) of Denmark. However there being no mosquitoes and no yellow fever as are in Panama. The Kiel-canal is about 120 miles long and the passage takes about 7-8 hrs ending close to Kiel, a cruise-harbour even not yet recognised by DCL with shore excursions available to the towns of Hamburg and Lübeck as well as the world famous Legoland in Denmark, and even possibilities to visit Meyer´s shipyard and see Disney´s ships grow. I have been there three times when they built the Dream and the Fantasy and I really loved it. Hope this might help to extend the northern cruises of europe a bit.

It's absolutely true that cruise lines aren't sailing in North America right now -- though that could change soon (here's the latest update on when cruise ships will resume sailing ).

But, one thing to remember is that the popularity of certain ships, such as those sailed by Disney Cruise Line, paired with thousands of people rebooking voyages they had to cancel in 2020 due to coronavirus means that capacity will be tight in 2021 and 2022. If you've got your heart set on a specific cruise ship, destination or embarkation date, it's wise to put down a deposit now or risk being shut out later.

For Disney Cruise Line fans, it's time to lock in your 2022 vacation now. Itineraries for January through May 2022 go on sale Oct. 19, 2020, for Castaway Club Platinum members and then to the general public who have never sailed on Disney beginning Oct. 22, 2020.

When booking a family cruise on Disney, it almost always makes sense to book as early as possible so you can reserve the exact stateroom you want and have access to what often ends up being the lowest cruise fares. While other cruise lines have seasonal sales and inclusions that can save you money , Disney does things differently.

Essentially, demand for Disney cruises is high and school holiday and summer vacation itineraries often sell out way ahead of embarkation. This means that the price to sail with Disney usually only goes up from the time the sailings are put on sale until they either sell out or the boat pulls out to sea, whichever comes first. If you want to see how this plays out in reality, Touring Plans has a fare tracker for Disney cruises that can show you some historical prices for various sailings.

As an example, here's historical price data for a December 2019 four-night Western Caribbean itinerary sailing out of Galveston, for two adults and two kids (ages 3 and 8) in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah.

The beginning price for this room type booked over 500 days before departure was a little over $3,800 all-in. Sixty-four days before the sailing, the price had only gone one direction -- up around $900 higher for the exact same trip.

This up, up and away pricing scenario may change a bit when Disney launches several new boats (aka more capacity), starting with Disney Wish , DCL's next new-build, the launch of which has been delayed by the coronavirus pandemic. But, for now, booking as early as possible is often the way to get the lowest price on a Disney cruise.

Advance booking for past guests

If you've taken a DCL cruise and are a member of its Castaway Club, you have advance access to reserve a 2022 cruise. Disney Vacation Club members, Adventures by Disney Insiders and Golden Oak Club members also get advance access.

When to book

• October 19, 2020: Castaway Club Platinum members and Golden Oak Club
• October 20, 2020: Platinum and Gold members
• October 21, 2020: Platinum, Gold and Silver Castaway Club members as well as Disney Vacation Club members and Adventures by Disney Insiders
• October 22, 2020: All guests (you don't need to be a Castaway Club member)

How to book

There are three ways to reserve a 2022 Disney cruise. Castaway Club members can book online, call or use a travel agent. To reserve your cruise online, go to the Castaway Cay login page . To make reservations by phone, call (800) 388-4513. The phone line opens at 8 a.m. ET. Or, use your favorite travel agent. Just be sure to give him or her your Castaway Club member ID for the booking. It can make lots of sense to book via a travel agent to get special booking incentives or, if booking via Costco Travel , hundreds of dollars on a Costco Shop Card.

Golden Oak Club members should call Golden Oak Club member services.

Disney Vacation Club Members can reserve with points by calling Member Services at (800) 800-9800. To make a cash-only booking, use a travel agent or call Disney Cruise Line at (866) 325-6348.

Adventures by Disney Insiders can use a travel agent to book or call (800) 388-4513.

Disney 2022 itineraries

So, where can Disney Cruise Line take you in the first half of 2022? Here are the major embarkation ports and routes to choose from:

Disney returns to Hawaii

There are two very special Disney Wonder 10-night itineraries that take the ship back to Hawaii. It's a perfect mix of five sea days that give you plenty of time to experience all the ship has to offer along with port calls to Honolulu, Oahu; Kahului, Maui; and Nawiliwili, Kauai. Travel from Vancouver to Honolulu or vice versa on April 26 and May 6, respectively.

Head to the Bahamas or Caribbean from Florida, Galveston or New Orleans

DCL sails to the Bahamas and the Caribbean from both Miami and Port Canaveral in Florida as well as Galveston, Texas, and New Orleans, Louisiana, so families have plenty of options to consider.

Here are the itineraries to expect from Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream:

• From Galveston: four-night Western Caribbean itineraries and six-night Bahamas cruises aboard Disney Wonder
• From Miami: three- , four- and five-night Bahamian and Western Caribbean cruises aboard Disney Magic
• From New Orleans: four- and six-night Western Caribbean itineraries as well as 6-night Bahamian cruises on Disney Wonder
• From Port Canaveral: three- and four-night Bahamian cruises on Disney Dream and six- and seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages aboard Disney Fantasy
• From Port Canaveral: Disney Dream to sail three- and four-night Bahamas cruises

Tip: Disney Dream's March 7 four-night round-trip itinerary from Port Canaveral includes two port days at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.

Baja and Mexican Riviera

Sailing from San Diego in 2022, Disney Cruise Line will offer two, four- and five-night itineraries visiting Mexico's Baja region, including calls on Ensenada and Cabo San Lucas aboard Disney Wonder. One itinerary also includes a port call on Catalina Island, California.

Pacific Coast

The cruise line has also programmed one Pacific Coast voyage that happens in late April when Disney Wonder repositions from Baja cruises to Alaska. The five-night cruise from San Diego to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, includes two sea days and calls on San Francisco and Victoria, British Columbia.

Panama Canal

If you've been dreaming of transitting the Panama Canal, you can do it aboard Disney Wonder in 2022. With just one departure on March 4, the 14-night westbound Panama Cana voyage begins in New Orleans and ends in San Diego with port calls on Cozumel, Mexico; Grand Cayman; Cartagena, Colombia and Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas in Mexico. There are also seven sea days.

W ith a fleet of five luxury cruise ships — and a sixth coming in December of this year — featuring waterslides, Broadway-quality shows and Disney fun for the entire family, Disney cruises are an attractive vacation option. The ships sail in all parts of the world, and Disney even has its own private island.

If that all sounds like the makings of a perfect family vacation, you’re likely not wrong. But you’re also likely asking: How much does a Disney cruise cost? In fact, Disney cruise prices vary as wildly as Captain Jack Sparrow’s moods. But there’s no magic in divining if a Disney cruise is worth it for you or not, or how you can save money and still step aboard the “happiest place” on water.

How Much Is a Disney Cruise?

Assuming you don’t want to fly to Sydney for a two-night cruise to Brisbane, Australia, and then fly home again, Disney cruise prices are least expensive if you leave from Florida. For example, a three-night, one-way cruise from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to San Juan, Puerto Rico, was $1,494 as of March 20. As far as round-trip cruises, a four-night western Caribbean cruise leaving from Galveston, Texas, and visiting Progreso, Mexico, was priced at $1,518. On the West Coast, a three-night Baja cruise from San Diego to Ensenada, Mexico, and back again ran $1,712.

All these prices were for two adults sharing an inside cabin. The rates also included all taxes, fees and port expenses.

The Cost of Leveling Up to a Nicer Cabin

As mentioned above, Disney cruise prices cover a vast range. And while they’re not among the most expensive cruise liners, they can get pricey. The above cruises, as well as other cruise offerings, offer a number of different cabin types. For instance, for the Fort Lauderdale cruise listed above, here are the price differences for cabin types for two adults:

Longer Cruises Are Generally More Expensive

As you might expect, in addition to the port of departure and the level of cabin, the length of your cruise will have a major impact on its price. Disney offers cruises lasting anywhere from two to 15 nights. 

The most expensive cruise GOBankingRates could find was a 12-night Mediterranean cruise visiting eight ports, ranging from Greece and Turkey to Spain and Italy. An inside cabin for two adults on this cruise ran $11,417, while a Concierge-level cabin tilted the scale at $33,665.

With more than 600 cruises on offer around the world, however, cruises can be found at virtually every price point between the low and the high.

How Much Does a Disney Cruise Cost for a Family of 4?

There aren’t many brands that scream family louder than Disney, which is why it offers pricing for families of four. If two of those guests are under 18, it does not double the price. It does increase it substantially, however. For instance, for a three-night, one-way cruise from Fort Lauderdale to San Juan, an inside cabin comes in at $1,494 for two adults and $2,506 for a family of four with two under-12 children.

And that 12-night Mediterranean cruise visiting eight ports, which ranged from $11,417 to $33,665 for two adults? It’s $17,501 for an inside cabin for four and $45,141 for a Concierge-level cabin.

Are Disney Cruises All-Inclusive?

Most of what you are probably going on a cruise to experience is included, but there are some notable exceptions. For instance, while all your meals, including 24-hour room service, are included, bottled water and alcohol are not. There are also luxury dining experiences that are not included.

As far as entertainment goes, there are Broadway-quality shows, firework displays, Disney character experiences, movie screenings, pools, waterslides and more included. You’ll also enjoy in-room movies, nightclubs with live music, adult pools and fitness centers for free. However, there are plenty of add-ons that can add up fast. 

Here are some vacation necessities and favorites that aren’t included in the price of the cruise:

• Airfare/transportation to or from the departure or final port
• Pre- or post-cruise hotel stays
• Certain family and kids experiences
• Bottled water, alcoholic beverages and specialty drinks
• Wireless internet
• Vacation protection plan
• Adult-exclusive dining
• Spa and salon visits
• Many Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island) amenities

What Is Disney’s Private Island Like and How Much Is a Cruise There?

Disney’s private island, called Disney Castaway Cay, lies in the Bahamas, and as the name implies, it is exclusive to Disney cruise guests. A tropical island, Castaway Cay has white sand beaches, clear blue water and picturesque palm trees. However, this is a family fun-themed island, so there are plenty of amenities and adventures.

Things To Do on Castaway Cay

• Beach Time: Grab one of the plentiful beach chairs and umbrellas available.
• 5K Run/Walk: Run or walk the 5K trail around the island; complete it and earn a medal.
• Character Appearances: Take advantage of a photo op with one of the many Disney characters on the island.
• Sports Beach: Play a game of volleyball or tetherball.

The Cost of a Cruise to Castaway Cay

For two adult guests staying in an inside cabin, the least expensive cruise to Castaway Cay that GOBankingRates found was a three-night trip from Fort Lauderdale for $1,631. On the opposite end of the spectrum was aboard Disney’s newest ship, Disney Treasure, for its maiden voyage. This was a seven-night trip visiting Tortola, St. Thomas and Castaway Cay for $11,279, for a Verandah-level cabin (the only level offered).

How Can I Save Money on My Disney Cruise?

In addition to some of the more obvious ways to save money on a cruise , such as using credit card points for airfare and any hotel stays, avoiding add-ons like spa treatments and excursions, and choosing round-trip cruises departing from ports nearest your home, there are some unexpected ways to save money on your Disney vacation.

Alcohol is not included in Disney cruise prices, but you can bring a limited amount of your own aboard. Guests 21 and older (18 and older in Australia) can bring up to two bottles of wine (750 milliliters each) and six 12-ounce beers on board at the start of their journey and at each port of call. However, you will be charged a $27 corkage fee if you choose to drink the wine (or champagne) in one of the ship’s dining rooms.

Disney Cruise Line lists several special offers. For instance, you can enjoy up to 25% off select cruises designated by the cruise line. These offers do come with some restrictions, however, like allowing Disney to choose your cabin, and are nonrefundable. Other discounts include up to 25% off on select sailings for Canadian residents and special military rates.   

Costco Travel

Costco Travel has partnered with Disney Cruise Line and offers significant discounts on select cruises for its members. For instance, a quick search found a four-night Bahamian cruise from Port Canaveral, visiting Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Disney Castaway Cay, which retailed for $2,303 per person on Disney Cruise Line’s site, offered at $1,284 per person on Costco Travel’s site. So if you are a Costco member, it’s worth shopping Costco Travel .
