by Melanie Hager , Public Relations Manager, Disney Cruise Line
The Disney Wonder is officially down under!
Disney Cruise Line will mark another incredible milestone on Oct. 28 when the Disney Wonder sets sail from the shores of Australia for the first time ever, embarking on the inaugural “Disney Magic at Sea” cruise for families in Australia and New Zealand. These two-night to six-night special Disney Cruise sailings continue through February 2024 and allow guests to experience the magic of Disney right in their backyard, with cruises departing from four different home ports: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.
Guests will be immersed in their favorite Disney stories during the “ Disney Magic at Sea ” cruises, with activities and spaces for everyone in the family to enjoy, including the imaginative dining and world-class entertainment that Disney Cruise Line is known for. New versions of the “Heroes Unite” deck party and “Crush’s Totally Awesome Pool Party,” as well as special character encounters including Moana’s first appearance on the high seas will allow guests to experience Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars stories and characters in new ways.
We’re also excited about the return of Disney Cruise Line to Australia and New Zealand in the fall of 2024 for a second season of vacations, with departures running from October 2024 to February 2025! On its way back to Australia, the Disney Wonder will first embark on a set of bucket-list itineraries , sailing from Vancouver, Canada, to Honolulu, Hawaii, in late September 2024 with stops on the islands of Kauai, Maui, Hawaii and Oahu. From Hawaii, families will set sail on a transpacific voyage to Sydney, Australia, that will visit once-in-a-lifetime destinations such as Fiji, American Samoa and New Caledonia.
The arrival into Australia is another part of Disney Cruise Line’s unprecedented expansion. With three new ships planned through 2025 and exciting new itineraries around the world, we are thrilled to bring Disney magic at sea to families across the globe for the first time.
We hope to see ya real soon!

I had a great time on my recent Disney Cruise from Melbourne to Hobart return. Got the Australian souveniers and love them. It was so good to have Disney here in Australia. I met lots of characters, despite the very long lines. Have to admit my feet were really sore by the end of the day for standing for so long. Especially as I have a disability and use a cane. Hoprefully that is something they can work on. Still had a great time though,

Kids Clubs for kids of different ages from 3 to 17 years old, including tweens and teens.
Some of our Play & Go family friends were lucky enough to travel on the Disney Fantasy a few of years ago on an Eastern Caribbean 6 night cruise and loved every minute! Here are some of their pics below.
What makes it so different to other cruise lines is the focus on service, different dining options and when we sailed a dining team followed you to each restaurant and knew exactly what you and your kids liked and went above and beyond to get it for you.

Disney Cruise Line is venturing Down Under for the first time. Here’s what the cruise ship has in store, including imaginative dining and Broadway-quality shows
- Disney Cruise Line: Disney Magic at Sea
Hot Dogs! Disney Magic at Sea is predicted to sell out in 24 hours: Here’s why
Disney wonder is sailing into australian shores for the first time – and it has cruisers clamouring to nab a booking..
Whether you’re hoping to take a walk down memory lane with your favourite childhood Disney characters, or you’re looking for a family-friendly cruise that caters to all ages, there’s bound to be something for everyone when Disney brings its famous charm Down Under for the first time with the enchanting Disney Magic at the Sea .
With bookings opening Thursday, September 28, Disney celebrated what will undoubtedly be a sold-out booking by bringing their trademark enchantment and magic with a Disney Magic at Sea VIP event at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday night.
Among the bedazzled mouse-eared crowd included famous faces such as former WAG Kyly Clarke, model Samantha Harris, and comedian Tanya Hennessy, with an energetic special performance by singer Rikki Lee giving guests a taste of what to expect on board as she belted out a slew of iconic Disney tunes, including ‘Let It Go’ from Disney’s 2018 blockbuster Frozen.
Disney Cruise Line director Jimmy Lynett – who met his wife on a Disney cruise many years ago – also revealed what we can expect on the upcoming cruises, including award-winning entertainment, festive deck parties, spectacular themed events, and world-class immersive dining experiences.
“All ships have got incredible entertainment where you can meet Minnie, Mickey, and all your favourite characters,” Lynett told Cruise Passenger.
“Disney Wonder is designed for family fun with dedicated spaces for both adults and kids, plus, you’ll be able to see first-run movies, making us the only line to do so.”
Given that this is Disney’s first time sailing to our shores, the news has garnered an enormous amount of interest and bookings are expected to sell out within just 24 hours, with Flight Centre reportedly already locking in more than 30,000 expressions of interest for the highly-anticipated expedition.
Thomas Mazloum, President of Disney Signature Experiences, told attendees of Tuesday’s event that he had high expectations for the new venture.
Adding to the allure of the excitement of Wonder heading Down Under is the cruise line’s reasonable price packages, which are predicted to be a large factor in luring first-time cruisers, along with the brand’s recognised global identity.
“The people that come on are predominantly people that have never cruised before. So we are attracting people like no other cruise line, because so many people tell us the only reason they came on a cruise was because of the Disney product, so what that means is we’re attracting a lot of people that never even considered a cruise before,” Mazloum added.
The inaugural sailing of this limited season departs October 28, 2023, with sailings aboard the 2,400-passenger Wonder ranging from two to six nights and departing from four home ports: Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, as well as Auckland.
Two-night packages from Sydney to Melbourne start at around $738 per person – though Disney’s Magic at Sea does price more expensively when compared to the similarly family-oriented Carnival Splendor six-day Melbourne Cup cruise from Sydney, which comes in at a far more affordable $629 per person.
For a more luxurious room aboard Disney’s Magic at Sea , the prices range all the way up to $2,855 for a six-night cruise from Sydney to Noumea in an inside twin share cabin.
As for what we can expect from the cruise ship’s famous culinary adventures, guests will have the chance to partake in one-of-a-kind rotational dining, where you’ll “rotate” to a different dining location boasting a unique menu each day of your cruise, accompanied by servers who know your every taste. Among some of the other dining options include Tiana’s Place , where guests can meet Princess Tiana herself and enjoy a taste of New Orleans cooking, and Animator’s Palate – an interactive dining experience that celebrates Disney animation.
Children have endless activities to keep them entertained, including a Frozen adventure in Disney’s Oceaneer Club, along with a multi-level replica of Andy’s Room from Toy Story and a place to summon their inner superhero at the Marvel Super Hero Academy.
While you’d be forgiven for thinking the cruise caters predominantly to kids, it also boasts an array of adults-only activities including Quiet Cove pool, fine dining at Palo, and the rejuvenating Senses Spa & Salon – in case you need some time out from the little ones.
Disney Cruise Line’s Magic at Sea cruises will sail from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Auckland between October 2023 to February 2024, with bookings open from 8 am AEST / 11 am NZDT on Thursday, September 29, 2022. They’re bound to sell out fast, so get in quick.
For more information, head to the Disney Cruise Line’s website .
This wouldn’t surprise me. We have been waiting for this for years. it’s time the Southern Hemisphere felt the Disney magic. Hopefully it will lead to them looking to build a park. Although one NOT owned by Disney. If the Japan Disney parks are anything to go by, not being fully dictated to is a very good thing.

Arts & entertainment, design & style, travel & leisure, search concrete playground, disney is bringing its 'magic at sea' cruises down under for the first time from october 2023.
Fancy hitting the seas surrounded by Disney, Marvel, Pixar and 'Star Wars' fun? Disney's cruise line will soon set sail from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
"Darling it's better down where it's wetter," Disney's animated hit The Little Mermaid told us; however, the Mouse House also thinks that life is pretty great on top of the water. For nearly a quarter-century, the huge entertainment company has been taking fans of its ever-growing array of pop culture wares on themed vacations, all thanks to its Disney Cruise Line. Alas, setting sail from Australia and Aotearoa hasn't been a possibility — until now.
Come October 2023, Disney Cruise Line will head Down Under for the first time ever, running Disney-themed holiday cruises from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland. And yes, given that Disney own plenty of huge franchises, that means these stints at sea are Marvel , Pixar and Star Wars -themed as well.
The Mouse House's first 'Magic at Sea' Australian and NZ cruises will depart from October 28, 2023, with the season running through till February 2024. On offer: sailings for two, three, four, five and six nights — your pick — where you'll watch live musical shows, see Disney characters everywhere you look and eat in spaces decked out like Disney movies.
Those musicals include a Frozen show; another production dedicated to the company's old-school favourites like Peter Pan , Pinocchio , Cinderella and Aladdin ; and a Golden Mickeys performance, which is obviously all about Mickey Mouse. Or, there's a Mickey party set to DJ beats, nightly fireworks and a pirate shindig on the vessel's deck.
While not every show and party is available on all cruises — especially the two-night option — the entertainment also includes Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Moana, Tiana, Cinderella, Woody, Jessie and more wandering around the ship. And, Chewbacca, Rey, Spider-Man , Captain Marvel and Thor as well, if you like hanging out around folks in costumes.
The dining setup rotates, so each day of the cruise takes you to a different location with a different theme. One day, you'll hit up the Animator's Palate, which focuses on bringing Disney characters to life — including getting patrons to draw their own characters — and on the next, you'll get munching in a restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog , and serving up New Orleans-inspired dishes.
Or, there's also Triton's, which offers an under the sea theme given it's named after Ariel 's father, and serves four-course French and American suppers.
For folks travelling with young Disney devotees, there's also a whole range of activities just for kids — but adults without littlies in tow are definitely catered for, complete with a dedicated pool for travellers aged 18 and over, an adults-only cafe, the Crown & Fin pub, cocktail bar Signals, Italian eatery Palo, and a day spa and salon.
Dates for Disney Cruise Line's first trips from Australia and New Zealand vary per city of departure, as do prices, but you can expect to enter this whole new ocean-faring world from $720 per person for two nights in a double-occupancy room from Sydney, $546 from Melbourne and $755 from Brisbane, and $760 per person for three nights in a double-occupancy room from Auckland.
And, room-wise, there's ten different types to choose from — some with private verandahs, and some with ocean views through portholes.
Disney Cruise Line's 'Magic at Sea' cruises will sail from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland between October 2023–February 2024, with bookings open from 8am AEST / 11am NZDT on Thursday, September 29, 2022. For more information, head to the cruise line's website .

15 Replies to “Disney Cruise Line Announces 2023 – 2024 New Zealand and Australia Itineraries”
i’d jump on any of these in a heartbeat if not for the cost of airfare to that part of the world
Could be magical from auckland as ship would have to fly to follow above map, as cruise terminal on other side of island….disney magic
As I heard somebody else mention, these are obviously meant for Australia residents to take as I don’t know anybody from the US that would pay that kind of money to fly all the way down there and go on one of these cruises that only makes 1 or 2 port stops (even the 6 night only makes 2 port stops), these itineraries are terrible. Only ones worth looking at would be the repositioning cruises and they don’t make any stops in New Zealand or Australia (except when they actually get to or leave from Sydney). Think DCL could have done better with these. Glad I already had other DCL cruises booked for 2023.
but it is ok to fly to the US for only 2-7 night voyages?
You may easily find the decision was too late and other ports of call were taken.
I have been told that these cruises are like the UK cruises last year and all are cruises to nowhere. While there are ports listed, they are tactical ports for refueling, etc. and not ports of call for guests.
That is honestly super disappointing. No longer cruise around Australia or NZ, only super short trips. How the hell id doing a 2 night?
It didn’t take us long to realize these are not worth the airfare and pre-cruise over night and post cruise over night stays. I agree the reposition itineraries are a better choice, and even those prices are a little high. Just focusing on the repositions at this point.
Some of the links on this page are coded wrong, such as safari-reader://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries//itineraries/itinerary-summary/?itinerary=673 The correct coding should be https://disneycruiselineblog.com/cruise-planning/itineraries//itineraries/itinerary-summary/?itinerary=673 🙂
Valerie, Thanks for letting me know, I’ve corrected the links.
What are the early booking dates? Have they said yet?
I keep trying to click on “View Early Booking Dates” and it is not active yet. I was told we would hear more on 9/26.
Hello Scott Any idea when other itineraries for 2024 will be available ? October I believe?
With the New Zealand dollar at 0.56 and the Australian dollar at 0.64 to the US dollar, I don’t think that the “locals” will be able to pay DCL the expensive cruise fares that Disney will demand! And Americans are not going to fly that far for a short cruise!?
Hi Ed, as an Australian I have booked and previously sailed DCL in the US. It’s cheaper for us to sail here (even in the Aus school holidays and around Xmas) than it is to fly over to the US and get on it. Disney fans will go if they understand the quality of these beautiful ships , it’s the first time or non cruises that will be complaining
I would not be surprised if these cruises are meant to gauge local interest in the Disney brand, so that Disney can determine if building a property in the region might be a good idea.
The same goes for the Singapore sailings in 2025 – in fact, in the 1990’s Disney had a plan to build a property in Singapore, but it got scrapped, probably because of the Disneyland Paris fiasco – the same fate that befell a lot of 1990’s Disney projects.
