Security settings in Internet Explorer

For each selected zone, pre-defined security levels can be selected in Internet Explorer, which you can revise as required using “Adjust level”. How to enable JavaScript on your iPhone if it's disabled, to access most websites in a Safari browser

You'll want to enable JavaScript on your iPhone to access websites on Safari.

• It's easy to enable JavaScript on your iPhone , although it should already be enabled.
• JavaScript is built into the iPhone's Safari browser, but if you're having trouble displaying websites, it might be turned off on your phone.
• To enable JavaScript on your iPhone (or verify that it's turned on), go to the Advanced page in Safari's Settings.

JavaScript is a popular programming language used by most websites.

It's so commonly used because it allows web pages to be dynamic and interactive, able to respond to input from elements like buttons and text input. JavaScript doesn't require any plug-ins - the browser itself knows how to interpret JavaScript code.

JavaScript is often confused with Java. The two are very different (in fact, completely different) programming languages that were developed separately and have nothing in common except part of their name.

If you aren't using JavaScript on your iPhone , it's likely that many web pages do not display properly in your phone's Safari browser. It should be turned on by default, though it's possible that at some point it was disabled, rendering many websites broken on your phone.

The good news is that you can enable JavaScript in just a few taps. It's found in the Settings app, in the Advanced tab of the Safari page.

2. Tap "Safari."

The JavaScript control is located in the Advanced tab.

You may try closing all of your tabs and restarting the app, or browsing in private mode to see if you need to clear cookies or delete browsing history.

But you might also want to try disabling Javascript to see if that is the cause of the problem.

If you’ve been experiencing a problem browsing websites, then it might be because Javascript in Safari is disabled.

Some people will adjust settings on their browsers when they are troubleshooting or experiencing problems, and disabling Javascript in Safari is something you might do.

But much like you were able to turn it off, you can also enable Javascript on iPhone so that the websites you visit will behave correctly.

Javascript is a type of code that is often used by websites for many of the more complex interactions or content that you see on a Web page.

But Javascript can also be used maliciously or ineffectively, which can lead to a sub-par browsing experience.

How to Turn On Javascript in the Safari Browser in iOS 10 (Guide with Pictures)

The steps in this guide were performed on an iPhone 7 Plus, in iOS 10.3.1.

These are specifically for enabling Javascript in the default Safari browser on your device.

If you are using a different browser, such as Chrome or Firefox, then you would need to adjust the Javascript settings for either of those browsers separately.

These steps will show you how to enable Javascript on an iPhone in the Safari Web browser.

Step 1: Open the Settings menu.

Tap the Settings app icon.

If you can’t find the Settings icon you can always swipe down on your screen to open the Spotlight Search and use it to open the Safari app.

Step 2: Scroll down and choose the Safari option.

Select Safari from the list of menu options.

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom of the menu and touch the Advanced item.

Choose Advanced at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: Tap the button to the right of Javascript to enable it.

Touch the Javascript toggle switch to turn it on or off.

You will know that Javascript is enabled when there is green shading around the button. I have enabled Javascript in Safari in the image above.

Now that you know how to enable or disable Javascript on your iPhone in the default Safari browser you will be able to use this knowledge whenever you need to troubleshoot an issue in the browser that you think might be related to Javascript.

No, the Javascript control for the Safari iOS browser only toggles the setting on or off for Safari.

Why might you want to disable JavaScript?

JavaScript is an important component of most online experiences, used to make confirmation boxes, sign-up forms, web apps and many forms of advertising function. Many publishers who hide content behind a firewall use it to protect their content.

Despite its many uses there are several reasons users may want to temporarily disable JavaScript on their iOS device:

• To browse a little faster without the interactive elements (though you will see lots of missing elements, some of which you may like).
• For tougher security, particularly if you are working on a highly secure enterprise network.
• To reduce the load of some websites that simply use too many interactive elements and ads, which can sometimes degrade your overall experience.
• To trick your way through firewalls (which doesn’t always work).
• To tweak a little more battery life from your device.

I tend to temporarily disable JavaScript when accessing only selected sites and services, leaving it active the rest of the time.

How to disable JavaScript on iPhone and iPad

It’s very easy to disable JavaScript on iPhone and iPad.

• Open Settings>Safari.
• Open the Advanced section at the bottom of that page
• Now toggle JavaScript to off.

Access the site or service you wish to access JavaScript free.

You will find some (but not all) sites and services no longer work, which is why I recommend only disabling it when you need to do so. There’s an interesting account of life without using JavaScript here .

I disable JavaScript at times also when I just want to read text. The pages open so much faster (and I even have the latest iPad). Many web sites are way too busy with multiple videos, pop ups, and flashing ads. It drives me crazy, and I don’t even mind static ads. I even click on them from time to time. I wish there was an iPad app to easily toggle JavaScript on and off.

By the way, I read this helpful article and entered my comment with JavaScript turned off.

iPhones run encrypted traffic and JavaScript only makes your Apple device(s) easier for someone to get access to because JavaScript stops your encryption. Simple as that.
