"Wild Type Droid" arrived in December via FAILURE 's own label, Failure Music . "To me, it captures a lot of the new musical approaches and techniques we were going for on this album, but somehow is still quintessential FAILURE ," Andrews explained as news of the album was revealed. "We've been together long enough to know that some of our best ideas come directly from these experimental sessions. For this album, we simply cultivated that methodology for a much longer time than we have in the past. It brought out the trio aspect of the band. There was a feeling we could really push the individual parts further away from each other and let the more interesting and challenging combinations take center stage."

FAILURE is Andrews (vocals, guitar, bass, programming), Greg Edwards (vocals, guitar, bass, keys) and Kellii Scott (drums, percussion). Formed in early '90s in Los Angeles, the trio has released six albums: "Comfort" (1992), "Magnified" (1994), "Fantastic Planet" (1996), "The Heart Is A Monster" (2015), "In The Future Your Body Will Be The Furthest Thing From Your Mind" (a series of EPs released as an album in 2018) and "Wild Type Droid" (2021). The group is considered one of the era’s most influential rock bands, with Vice , in an all-encompassing retrospective upon the band’s return, saying: "While many of their contemporaries became prolific by releasing an ungodly amount of materials, FAILURE 's [initial] three-record catalog is minuscule, but just as important in terms of content, style, and music texture."

Failure Book Summer 2022 North American Tour Dates

We do not have a failure to communicate. In fact, we will have Failure spreading music from their newly released Wild Type Droid album and their back catalog at concert venues across the U.S. and Canada this summer.

"I have not been this excited to bring new material to the stage since Fantastic Planet," beamed frontman Ken Andrews, adding, "Prepare yourself for an out-of-body experience."

The newly announced dates will begin on June 2 in San Diego, crossing both the U.S. and Canada for just over a month before coming full circle back to the West Coast where the band will finish out with a July 8 hometown show in Los Angeles. See all of the dates, cities and venues listed at the bottom of this post.

In addition to the live show, Failure will also open their performance with a special preview of a forthcoming documentary on the band, so be sure to check that out.

Tickets for the trek are currently on sale via the band's website .

As stated, Failure have a new record. Andrews says of the Wild Type Droid album, “To me, it captures a lot of the new musical approaches and techniques we were going for on this album, but somehow is still quintessential Failure. We’ve been together long enough to know that some of our best ideas come directly from these experimental sessions. For this album, we simply cultivated that methodology for a much longer time than we have in the past. It brought out the trio aspect of the band. There was a feeling we could really push the individual parts further away from each other and let the more interesting and challenging combinations take center stage.”

Failure Announce 2022 North American Tour

The post Failure Announce 2022 North American Tour appeared first on Consequence .

Failure have announced a Summer 2022 North American tour in support of their new album, Wild Type Droid .

The album dropped with little warning back in December, as the cult alt-rock trio snuck in one of 2021’s best albums at the very end of the year. Now Failure are taking the sonically rich Wild Type Droid on the road.

The journey kicks off June 2nd in San Diego, California, and runs through July 8th in Los Angeles. Be sure to get there early, as each concert will be open with a preview of an upcoming Failure documentary. You can get tickets via Ticketmaster .

“I have not been this excited to bring new material to the stage since Fantastic Planet ,” Failure’s Ken Andrews said in a press release. “Prepare yourself for an out-of-body experience.”

Failure were previously documented in the 40-minute film “Golden,” which was released back in 2004 along with a collection of rare tracks and demos. A highlight of the film was candid in-studio footage of Failure recording their debut LP Comfort with Steve Albini. The forthcoming documentary will ostensibly feature even more behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s career.

A great show. I sang along with every song until I was hoarse. I don't know how Ken keeps it together for a whole show. I especially liked the encores with new & old material. Their imagery was as always trippy and they'd added some new drum shields made of glass that I'm sure are functional but looked cool despite. I had a great time. Their merch lady was also cool and engaged me in conversation about working with the band (great) and added to the warm friendly atmosphere of the show. Even if you don't know them I recommend Failure for a great low-key rock show. Oh, and I caught my first guitar pick ever -- I've been seeing shows since '95 -- and it was one of Ken's black Dunlop's which was like the cherry on top. Such a great night!

The music was completely spot on. It was a fantastic show. The complete Fantastic Planet album, front to back and then some. Amazing videos for the backdrop. Everything came together perfectly.

Failure Announces Livestream Concert “We Are Hallucinations”

The concert film features a set list that spans the band’s six albums and captures the magic of Failure’s live performance

failure band tour 2022

Failure, the Los Angeles trio of Ken Andrews, Greg Edwards and Kellii Scott, have announced their first ever streaming concert film: “We Are Hallucinations.”

The concert film features a set list that spans the band’s six albums and captures the magic of Failure’s live performance.

The one-time only event debuts on Dec. 15 at 12:00 pm pacific/3:00 pm eastern/8:00 pm UK/9:00 pm EU, and remains available through Dec.18. Viewers have three full days from the time of purchase to watch the film at any time, and as often, as they would like. Tickets as well as a limited-edition commemorative poster, newly released vinyl variants for each of the band’s six albums, as well as various merch items, are available now via linktr.ee/failureband .

“This film is comprised of performances from our Summer 2022 Wild Type Droid tour of North America,” explains Greg Edwards. “It’s crazy that we have never made a concert film before, but I think this will really stand as a definitive document of the dynamic between the three of us on stage and the connection we have with our fans.”

Failure have been praised as “modern trailblazers” ( Alternative Press ), with the band enjoying two distinct, and equally worthy, phases of their career. In the ‘90s, the trio released three albums, with 1996’s Fantastic Planet now widely regarded as one of the era’s most influential and enduring albums. In 2013, Failure reunited, releasing their first new music in nearly two decades with the 2015 arrival of The Heart Is A Monster , an album Entertainment Weekly neatly described as “jaw-dropping visceral space rock.” In The Future Your Body Will Be the Furthest Thing From Your Mind followed in 2018, and most recently, the band unveiled the astounding 10-song album, Wild Type Droid . A collection Guitar World said was “one of the most inspiring alternative guitar records to arrive in 2021” and Paste said it made “a career-defining statement.”

About Failure

Failure is Ken Andrews (vocals, guitar, bass, programming), Greg Edwards (vocals, guitar, bass, keys), and Kellii Scott (drums, percussion). Formed in early ‘90s Los Angeles, the trio have released six albums: Comfort (1992), Magnified (1994), Fantastic Planet (1996), The Heart Is A Monster (2015), In The Future Your Body Will Be the Furthest Thing from Your Mind (a series of EPs released as an album in 2018), and Wild Type Droid (2021). Rolling Stone dubbed them “THE great unsung… band of the Nineties,” Pitchfork said their return found the trio “managing to pull off the near-impossible feat of establishing continuity with their back catalog,” and Vice , in an all-encompassing retrospective upon the band’s return, saying: “While many of their contemporaries became prolific by releasing an ungodly amount of materials, Failure’s [initial] three-record catalog is minuscule, but just as important in terms of content, style, and music texture.”
