PURPLE KISS announce 2023 ‘Festa’ US tour

Featuring shows in Philadelphia, Nashville, San Antonio and more

K-pop girl group PURPLE KISS have announced their 2023 ‘Festa’ US tour, which kicks off this October.

On September 3, tour organiser Leo Presents announced PURPLE KISS’ upcoming 2023 ‘Festa’ US tour, featuring 17 shows. It will kick off at the end of October at the Regent Theater in Boston, Massachusetts, before moving down the East Coast to New York, Pennsylvania and more.

Thereafter, the girl group will head across Central US, with concerts in Tennessee, Colorado and Missouri, as well as two in Texas. PURPLE KISS will wrap up their 2023 ‘Festa’ US tour at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

Tickets for PURPLE KISS’ 2023 ‘Festa’ US tour goes on sale today (September 4) at 10am CST via Ticketweb.com . Tickets start at US$50 and go up to US$250, with different upgrade packages available.

Seoul Festa 2024 has recently revealed its initial lineup of K-pop artists. Interestingly, The Boyz and Zerobaseone are among the festival’s star performers.

Amidst several spring and summer music festivals, Seoul Festa offers a more immersive experience to visitors. The spring festival takes place for over a week and features a variety of experiences that will elevate visiting Seoul. For this year’s festival, Seoul Festa has announced six days of events, including an opening party, Blossom Party, Seoul Road Show, Seoul Style Road, and more.

Seoul Festa 2024 reveals lineup & date

The 2024 edition of Seoul Festa will kick off with an opening party on May 1 and end on May 6, 2024 . Some of the festival’s locations include Seoul Plaza, Gwanghwamun Square, and Noeul Park.

After the grand success of Seoul Festa 2023, expectations are high for this year’s festival. Last year, OH MY GIRL, iKON, STAYC, P1Harmony, NATURE, IVE, Enhypen, Kep1er, and BE’O performed at the opening party. Lee YoungJi, ATEEZ, and The Boyz also participated in the festival.

The Boyz will also perform at this year’s festival and go on a world tour next. The K-pop group will start their 2024 world tour on July 12 in Seoul. The boy band will have three shows in their home country. Later, they will travel to the U.S. for five shows. The K-pop icons are also performing in Paris on September 13 and London on September 15.

The K-pop act is raising anticipation for their upcoming concerts after making a March comeback with the studio album Phantasy, Pt. 3: Love Letter. The album reportedly sold over  394,417 copies  in South Korea. Moreover, they ranked number 1 on the  Circle Album Chart  in South Korea.

Seoul Festa 2024 to kick off in May, attracting global visitors

City aims to shine as global tour destination with feast of flavors, art and entertainment

Seoul Festa 2024, an event where participants can enjoy and experience the beauty, tastes and excitement of the capital city, is scheduled to kick off on May 1.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced, Monday, that the festival will take place in two locations in the city center — Seoul Plaza and Gwanghwamun Square — and will run for six days until May 6.

Marking its third anniversary this year, Seoul Festa has arranged programs not only for Seoul citizens but also for people worldwide to enjoy the city’s culture.

Under the theme of “Enjoy All That Seoul,” encapsulating the essence of experiencing everything the city has to offer during the spring season, Seoul Festa will showcase the diverse charms of Seoul, including its food, culture, art and scenery.

The opening party marking the beginning of the festival is set to take place at Seoul Plaza from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature K-pop groups and performance teams.

In addition, from May 1 to 3, Seoul Plaza will transform into various party zones.

Starting with the opening party, the plaza will host programs such as tea and coffee tastings and performances inspired by Korean drama soundtracks on May 2. A K-pop dance challenge party, where citizens and influencers can participate in dance battles and challenges is scheduled for May 3.

Gwanghwamun Square will be transformed into a huge performance venue and playground zone, offering diverse programs and events open for everyone to participate in.

The Seoul Style Road, comprising six zones showcasing Seoul's culture, fashion, beauty and cuisine, will be accessible throughout the festival period.

Participants can engage in traditional Korean games like "dakji," a card-flipping game, in the activity zone, and enjoy Korean food, snacks and desserts in the food zone. People also have the opportunity to buy products from the city including souvenirs. Additionally, the beauty zone will offer styling experiences including hair, nail and makeup sessions.

On May 4, the Seoul Road Show is scheduled to be held at Sejong-daero in central Seoul. The place will be transformed into a grand stage for performances, inviting people to join in painting activities and collaborative performances.

At Noeul Park in western Seoul's Mapo District, a picnic zone will be set up where attendees can enjoy Korean-style barbecue, local delicacies and specialties over two days from May 4 to 5.

The barbecue zone will offer people chances to purchase fresh meat and grill it on-site. Reservations must be made in advance, and the zone operates during specific time slots three times a day — 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Individuals can sign up via the Seoul Festa website.

Alongside the barbecue zone, people can enjoy a diverse range of Korean-style barbecue dishes made by renowned chefs and influencers. Furthermore, there will be a marketplace offering Korean beef and agricultural goods sourced from across the nation at affordable prices.

Moreover, the park will be filled with a variety of different food and attractions, including a gourmet talk show on May 4, a sunset concert and street performances on May 4 and 5.

Throughout the festival, a total of 18 events comprising both the public and private sectors will take place across Seoul, including the Myeongdong Festival from Thursday to May 6, a drone light show on the Han River from Friday to May 6, Seoul Circus Festival from May 4 to 5 and the K-Royal Culture Festival from Friday to May 5.

The city government aims to position Seoul as a tourist destination that visitors will want to return to by offering various opportunities and experiences during Seoul Festa 2024.

"Seoul Festa is a representative spring festival in Seoul, providing an excellent opportunity to experience the city's culture and charm in one place," said Kim Young-hwan, the director general of the Tourism and Sports Bureau at the city government.

Today you will learn why Albuquerque is called the Balloon Capitol of the World as you experience the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta.  Depart for an early morning transfer to the Fiesta Field to witness the Dawn Patrol and have breakfast at the Chasers Club.  The Dawn Patrol began at Balloon Fiesta in 1978, when two California balloonists developed position lighting systems that allowed them to fly at night. Dawn Patrol pilots take off in the dark and fly until it is light enough to see landing sites. Just at dawn when the winds are calmest, watch the Mass Ascension in a rainbow of colors.  Later this morning, visit the Turquoise Museum where you will enter the museum through a mock mine tunnel and see the veins and nugget formations just as if you are a miner. Learn about rare specimens and the process of grinding and shaping the stones before time at leisure in the gift shop. 

Once finished, enjoy a drive through Albuquerque, "The Jewel of the American Southwest," on your way to historic Old Town with some free time to explore hidden courtyards, stroll under covered portals and shop at the many fine specialty stores and galleries around the Plaza on your own. Old Town's tree-lined plaza and charming adobe buildings and churches are sure to delight the sightseer and the shopper! After an exciting day, return to your hotel with the rest of the evening free to relax and have dinner on your own.

Begin your day with one of the best views of the city as you ride the Sandia Peak Tramway.  Overlook the valley and enjoy views of the balloons traveling through the valley as you ascend and descend from its 10,387 foot crest. See firsthand the landscape that became the home of the Ancestral Pueblo and Pueblo people for thousands of years.  Once finished you will experience a fascinating introduction to the way of life enjoyed by America's first "apartment dwellers," the Pueblo tribes of the Southwest. During your visit to the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, you'll see their artifacts and crafts and learn a little about the cultural and religious customs that have helped preserve this society for over l,000 years. There are multiple experiences to be had including dancing and craftsmen at work.  After your lunch you will return to your hotel with a little time to relax. This morning, enjoy a drive along the Turquoise Trail, named for the exquisite mineral that was once mined here. The drive leads you the real-life ghost town of Madrid. Madrid looks exactly like a ghost town should, with its rows of empty, ramshackle houses that once were the homes of three thousand miners and their families. The only sign of life now is the artists who come to paint this picturesque place, and who display their wares to the interested buyer. Continue through Santa Fe to Chimayo, home to the Santuario de Chimayo and where the descendants of Spanish weavers and woodcarvers still ply their crafts. After a stop to observe the artisans, continue your scenic drive to the world class resort town of Taos. Founded in 1617 by the Spanish, Taos has kept its Spanish and Indian influences. Arrive at Taos Plaza with free time to wander the streets, enjoying the local cuisine, unique atmosphere, and browse the offerings of many artists who have come here to capture the allure of this delightful place. Then visit Taos Pueblo, a village that has been inhabited for more than 800 years, and whose adobe structures have changed little since the first Spanish explorers saw them in 1540's. As you return to Santa Fe, stop for a scenic view of the Rio Grande, a legendary river that cuts a distinct path through the history of the Southwest. Check into your Santa Fe hotel with the evening free for dinner on your own.

Today enjoy a full day exploring and experiencing the first state capitol in the United States, "The Royal City of the Holy Faith of Saint Francis," better known as Santa Fe.  Founded in l609, the city offers many historic and scenic delights. Your tour will be a walking tour to the many famous sights including the historic Santa Fe Plaza with a view of the Palace of the Governors, the Loretto Chapel, a miniature model of the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, and the oldest church in New Mexico and more. Miami’s best boat ride !

Arbor Day Tree Walk April 25

Starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, and in celebration of Arbor Day, the SUNY New Paltz Tree Committee invites you on a guided tour of the Campus Tree Walk.

Serving as tour guides for this haiku-themed walk are Eric Keeling, associate professor of biology, and Thomas Festa, professor of English. They will explore contemporary English-language possibilities of the Japanese haiku form, with campus trees and the natural environment as su bjects as discussion and inspiration .   

Tour attendees should plan to meet the Tree Committee  at the Red Maple on the southwest corner of Old Main Quad, which can be found here using the Campus Tree Map .   

The Campus Tree Committee is a collective of students, faculty and staff, and community members, with membership representing all parts of campus, which works to secure and maintain Tree Campus USA ® recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation .  The Committee regained campus recognition in 2023 for the first time in several years. Anyone interested in joining the Tree Committee should contact the Chair, Executive Director of Development Jonathan Vaughn at [email protected] .

The Committee designed the Campus Tree Walk, an educational resource that consists of two marked trails and accompanying brochure that serves as a guide to 25 tree species and their benefits.

PHOENIX – Imagine Dragons is bringing the “Loom” tour to Phoenix this fall.

The “Radioactive” rockers will make a stop at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre on Oct. 6.

The 29-date tour will showcase the pop rock band’s upcoming sixth studio album, “Loom,” which will be released on June 28. The album’s lead single, “Eyes Closed,” will accompany eight additional brand-new songs. “Loom” arrives after the group’s double album “Mercury,” which was released over two acts in 2021 and 2022.

The diamond-selling band last performed in Arizona on Feb. 11, 2023, when the group performed at Footprint Center as part of the Super Bowl Music Fest.

How do I get tickets for the Imagine Dragons tour?

Tickets are available through an artist presale that begins on Wednesday. Fans can access the presale by signing up for a code here . Tickets will go  on sale to the general public starting Friday at 10 a.m.

The tour begins Tuesday, July 30 in Camden, New Jersey and closes with a show in Los Angeles, California at the Hollywood Bowl on Oct. 22.

Downtown construction causes potential safety concern for pedestrians ahead of Fiesta

Locals and tourists alike say crossing the street in some parts of downtown can be downright confusing with recent construction.

SAN ANTONIO – Emi Lees said this is her first time traveling to San Antonio, but getting around isn’t as easy as expected.

“Yes, I really like it,” the 9-year-old said. “It’s not easy to walk around.”

Emi and her parents had just left the Tower of the Americas when they were met with construction cones. They were trying to get across South Alamo Street near Cesar E. Chavez when they realized some sidewalks were closed and had to find another way around.

“It’s kind of been a little bit harder than it should be,” Emi said. “It’s a little bit scary with all these cars honking and driving all over the place.”

Parts of South Alamo Street are closed for construction because of an ongoing project. It’s one of many spots across downtown San Antonio that are shut down because of construction.

Ahead of Fiesta , pedestrians and nearby businesses say they have safety and traffic concerns.

“It’s actually quite inconvenient,” said Christopher De Jesus, a resident. “We had to park all the way two blocks down, thinking that we were going to get here in an easy manner, but all the roads are blocked off, and we had to walk about half a mile to cross a pedestrian walkway.”

Rene Fernandez, owner of Hola, said he sees dozens of people a day illegally crossing the street because the sidewalks are closed.

“It could create a big problem,” Fernandez said.

But Razi Hosseini, director of the Public Works Department, said people shouldn’t be concerned. He said many roads downtown are still open, and these projects are necessary to grow San Antonio.

“This is the time we need to improve some of those,” Hosseini said. “If we don’t rebuild those, we are going to have — come summertime, water break sewer lines may not function.”

Hosseini said his department is trying to come up with solutions through stickers and signs to help direct people where to walk during Fiesta. Blue stickers have been placed on Market Street and Cesar E Chavez near South Alamo.

Hosseini said his best recommendation is for people to use public transportation during downtown festivities.
