ABOUT JOURNEY

Since the group's formation in 1973, JOURNEY has earned 19 top 40 singles, 25 gold and platinum albums, and has sold over 100 million albums globally. Their "Greatest Hits" album is certified 15 times-platinum, making JOURNEY one of the few bands to ever have been diamond-certified, and their song "Don't Stop Believin'" has been streamed over one billion times alone.

JOURNEY was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, and 2018's co-headlining tour with DEF LEPPARD was the band's most successful tour to date, landing them in the Top 10 year-end touring chart with more than 1 million tickets sold, and earning them the prestigious Billboard "Legends Of Live" touring award. March 2019 saw the release of "Escape & Frontiers Live In Japan", a live DVD/CD set from their concert at the Budokan in Tokyo featuring the band's first-ever performances of the albums "Escape" and "Frontiers" in their entirety. JOURNEY has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame. Additionally, the band is the subject of the award-winning documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" about the band's resurgence upon adding Arnel Pineda as lead singer after JOURNEY Founder, Neal Schon discovered the Philippines native on YouTube.

The members of TOTO are celebrating an accomplishment few bands have achieved in the modern era. Cumulative streams of the ensemble’s repertoire

now exceed 3 billion plays. Amongst the most listened to recordings, “Africa” accounts for over one billion streams at Spotify alone. This year the song was recertified by the RIAA 8X Platinum.

Over the past decade, the band has had a major renaissance in popularity like few bands at this point in their career. The audience is truly multi-generational, becoming younger with each passing year. Joining Steve Lukather and Joseph Williams are band members bassist John Pierce (Huey Lewis and The News), drummer Robert “Sput” Searight (Ghost-Note, Founding member Snarky Puppy, Snoop Dogg), keyboardist Dominique “Xavier” Taplin (Prince, Ghost-Note), multi-instrumentalist / vocalist Warren Ham (Ringo Starr) and keyboardist / background vocalist Steve Maggiora,. This line-up marks the fifteenth incarnation of Toto in consideration of band members or sidemen who joined or exited. Individually and collectively, few have had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of TOTO. The family tree can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums. Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with hundreds of Grammy nominations.

With now 45+ years together and literally thousands of credits, including the biggest selling album of all time: Michael Jackson’s Thriller, and accolades to their names, TOTO remains one of the top selling touring and recording acts in the world. They are the benchmark by which many artists base their sound and production, and they continue to transcend the standards set by the entire music community, being simply synonymous with musical credibility. They are pop culture and are one of the few 70’s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles continuing to remain relevant.

ABOUT BILLY IDOL

For forty-five years, Billy Idol has been one of the faces and voices of rock’n’roll, with an artistic resume to match the brilliant light of the image. First as the camera-ready front man for Generation X, between 1977 and 1981 Billy emerged with three albums that made positivity, emotional depth, and high pop synonymous with punk rock. In 1982, Billy embarked on a remarkable transatlantic/transgenre solo career that integrated clubland throb, wide-screen depth and drama, rockabilly desperation, the bold and simple lines of punk, and rock’n’roll decadence.

Decades after releasing his first 45, Billy Idol still makes gliding, thumping, cinematic songs about sin, redemption and the love of rock’n’roll…and that’s what you will find on The Roadside, Billy Idol’s first release of original material in seven years. Produced by Butch Walker (Green Day, Weezer, amongst many others), The Roadside takes Billy Idol into new but familiar waters full of color, power, atmosphere, attitude, and mystery.

On The Roadside Billy Idol is joined by his friend and collaborator since 1981, guitarist and co-songwriter Steve Stevens . For 40 years – 40 years! – Steve has been Billy Idol’s sonic assassin and master blender of tones and textures, the thinking man’s shredder and the shredding man’s Picasso.

Over the past several years,  TOTO  have had a major renaissance in popularity like few bands at this point in their career.  Their 40th anniversary in 2018 was marked by them releasing a brand new Greatest Hits album (40 Trips Around The Sun) and embarking on their most successful worldwide tour to date.   Few ensembles in the history of recorded music have individually or collectively had a larger imprint on pop culture than the members of  TOTO .  As individuals, the band members can be heard on an astonishing 5000 albums that together amass a sales history of a half a billion albums.  Amongst these recordings, NARAS applauded the performances with more than 200 Grammy nominations.

Collectively  TOTO  has over two billion streams worldwide on all streaming services.  Just last year one of their biggest hits “Africa” went from being a Platinum single to being recently recertified 6X Platinum.  The band has found a new generation of fans.  With now 40+ years together and literally thousands of credits, including the biggest selling album of all time: Michael Jackson’s  Thriller , and accolades to their names,  TOTO  remains one of the top selling touring and recording acts in the world. They are the benchmark by which many artists base their sound and production, and they continue to transcend the standards set by the entire music community, being simply synonymous with musical credibility.  They are pop culture, and are one of the few 70’s bands that have endured the changing trends and styles continuing to remain relevant while enjoying their multi-generational global fan base.

JOURNEY has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and were inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall Of Fame . Additionally, the band is the subject of the award-winning documentary "Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey" about the band's resurgence upon adding Arnel Pineda as lead singer after JOURNEY Founder, Neal Schon discovered the Philippines native on YouTube .

The members of TOTO are celebrating an accomplishment few bands have achieved in the modern era. Cumulative streams of the ensemble’s repertoire now exceed 3 billion plays.

The Album Freedom

Journey’s “Freedom” album is a musical work. The publication date was July 8, 2022. The album, which features 15 tracks, is their longest creation to date. 73 minutes and 12 seconds pass during it. Because Ross Valory, their original bassist, is not on this album, it is unique. In his place, Randy Jackson took over.

The album was given a variety of reviews. While some people enjoyed the music and performances, others didn’t like how it was made or how long it was. In support of this album, Journey also undertook a concert tour known as the “Freedom Tour”. On February 22, 2022, the tour officially began, and it is currently ongoing. In numerous cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, they have given performances.

Chase Matthew: The Journey From Cruising Jason Aldean's Bar In A Truck Bed To Touring With His Hero

journey freedom tour songs

(Photo by John Shearer/Getty Images for CMT)

Chase Matthew 's life has played out in scenes as if he were starring in an after-school special about perseverance, chasing dreams and redemption.

A Nashville-area native, Matthew grew up in a family of preachers who would have been thrilled had he fallen in line behind them. But he made poor choices as a teen. Things got worse for Matthew when his best friend was murdered. He dropped out of school, dabbled in rap music, developed a drug problem and was homeless by the time he was 19 years old.

About eight years later, Matthew has accumulated 930 million streams, is signed to a major label record deal at Warner Music Nashville, was named "One to Watch" by HITS, is a member of MusicRow's Next Big Thing Class of 2024 and is part of Opry Nextstage Class of 2024. He released his sophomore album, the 25-song strong "Come Get Your Memory" in 2023. The collection is home to his current Top 20 single "Love You Again," and Matthew recently released his new six-song EP "We All Grow Up." He just extended his headlining tour and is about to tour with Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan.

"Because of my background, I just can't even believe I'm getting these opportunities," Matthew said.

It's a big jump for the 26 year old who remembers wearing a stuffed panda head as a teenager, climbing in a truck bed and cruising Lower Broadway directly in front of the buildings that now house Aldean's bar and restaurant and Bryan's 32 Bridge.

"It was one of the big heads like you'd see Chuck E. Cheese," he recalls, laughing. "We were riding down Broadway, and I was vibing in a panda head. Everyone was pointing and taking pictures of me as a panda. It was so funny!

Matthew and his friends weren't old enough to get into bars so he says  they wanted to "raise Hell in our straight pipe trucks."

"It was fun, for sure," he says. "Now we're on signs in front of those buildings. It's kinda crazy."

Last week, he drove by to take pictures of his name on the sign in front of Aldean's bar.

Aldean's Highway Desperado Tour launches in May with Matthew as support along with Lauren Alaina, Hailey Whitters, Austin Snell and DJ Silver. Matthew called the tour opportunity "a dream come true."

It's a far cry from the truck bed – or the young 20-something in jeans and a t-shirt who ambled into ONErpm in 2021 with his independent record label heads from Holler Boy Records to solidify a collaborative business deal. Matthew had 65,000 followers on social media, about 4 million streams and far less than 1 million views on YouTube. Independent country artist Ryan Upchurch fronted Holler Boy Records, and Upchurch swaggered to the couch boasting about his fast cars and exploits with women. When Upchurch's stories wound down, the men posed for a contract signing photo and Matthew's six-song EP, "County Line," came out later that month.

One year later, "County Line" became Matthew's first gold record. His partnership with Warner Music Nashville was announced a few weeks later. By that time, the singer had collected 360 million streams.

"Chase's mix of rebellion and reverence is what drew us to him," Cris Lacy, co-president of Warner Music Nashville, said at the time. "The impact he has on his mass of loyal fans comes from music and messages that are unapologetically redemptive and put him squarely in the center of this format's most authentic storytellers."

Matthew co-wrote four of the six songs on his "We All Grow Up" and 18 of the 25 songs on "Come Get Your Memory."

He was inspired to write "We All Grow Up' when he bought his first house. Matthew wanted to put a studio in the home immediately and quickly started renovations. He said it is "an old house built in the '90s" and explains it even had carpet in the bathrooms. He left the carpet intact to focus on the music studio, and as soon as his creative space was half finished, Matthew co-wrote "We All Grow Up."

"It talks about how some of us went left, some of us went right, some of us went north and some of us definitely went south," he said. "Life is what you make of it. And I believe that what you take, the things you do growing up, you take with you, and it makes you who you are today. That's what that song's about."

Matthew co-wrote "Dirt Road Does" with Brock Berryhill, Jaxson Free, Dylan Marlowe and Taylor Phillips. They were supposed to write a different song that day, but Phillips called and shared the idea. The men pounced on it immediately.

"I was like, 'Oh my God, we got to write it right now,'" Matthew said. "He pulls up, and in 20 minutes, we wrote the whole song."

Matthew even thinks Aldean had it on hold for a while but admits he "might be wrong about that."

He wrote "Makin' You Miss Me" with Alex Maxwell on Matthew's tour bus and penned "Darlin'" with Maxwell, Hunter Huff and Ciaran Wilkie when they were in a casino in the Midwest.

He co-wrote his current Top 20 hit, "Love You Again," with Phillips and Casey Brown. Matthew describes the song as "provocative" and explains that it "talks about something we've all done." But he doesn't want to say the word.

"My mama wouldn't like me to do that," he said.

Regardless, he believes it "feels like an anthem.

"The fans are definitely finding their favorite lines in the song to just sing as loud as they can," he said.  "Everybody leaves remembering that song. It's definitely a party."

Matthew is the man who never forgets a name and is always quick with a hug and a thank you. He has an easy, wide smile and the determination of a young person who hopes he has already lived the hardest days of his life. Before this tour, he always told people Aldean was his dream collaboration. He said that to get the call that he was going to tour with Aldean was more than he could process.

"You find yourself in a daze sometimes in your day-to-day life," Matthew said. "And then you have to snap out and look around and realize what you're doing, where you're at. I'm in a daze all the time ever since, and it feels like a dream. It's definitely a good feeling, and the closer we get to it, the more the butterflies start churning up in my stomach."

NEW YORK (AP) — Heart — the pioneering band that melds Nancy Wilson’s shredding guitar with her sister Ann’s powerhouse vocals — is hitting the road this spring and fall for a world tour that Nancy Wilson describes as "the full-on rocker size."

"I’ve been strengthening. I’ve got my trainer," she says. "You go one day at a time and you strengthen one workout session at a time. It’s a lot of work, but it’s the only job I know how to do."

HEART'S ANN WILSON TALKS WEIGHT BULLIES, THE EARLY DAYS OF MTV, AND BEING A WOMAN IN THE MANLY WORLD OF ROCK

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers who gave us classic tracks like "Magic Man," "Crazy on You" and "Alone" will be playing all the hits, some tracks from of their solo albums — like Ann Wilson's "Miss One and Only" and Nancy Wilson's "Love Mistake" — and a new song called "Roll the Dice."

"I like to say we have really good problems because the problem we have is to choose between a bunch of different, really cool songs that people love already," says Nancy Wilson.

Like "Barracuda," a sonic burst which first appeared on the band’s second album, "Little Queen" and is one of the band’s most memorable songs.

"You can’t mess with ‘Barracuda.’ It’s just the way it is. It is great. You get on the horse and you ride. It’s a galloping steed of a ride to go on. And for everybody, including the band."

The tour kicks off Saturday at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina, and will hit cities including Atlanta, Boston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. International dates include stops in London, Oslo, Berlin, Stockholm, Montreal and Glasgow.

The band's Royal Flush Tour will have Cheap Trick as the opening act for many stops, but Def Leppard and Journey will join for three stadium dates in Cleveland, Toronto and Boston this summer.

Ann and Nancy Wilson will be filled out by Ryan Wariner (lead and rhythm guitar), Ryan Waters (guitars), Paul Moak (guitars, keyboards and backing vocals), Tony Lucido (bass and backing vocals) and Sean T. Lane (drums).

The tour is the first in several years for Heart, which was rocked by a body blow in 2016 when Ann Wilson’s husband was arrested for assaulting Nancy’s 16-year-old twin sons. Nancy Wilson says that's all in the past.

"We can take any kind of turbulence, me and Ann, and we’ve always been OK together," she says. "We’re still steering the ship and happy to do it together. So we’re tight."

The new tour will take them to Canada, which was warm to the band when they were starting out as what Nancy Wilson calls "a couple of chicks from Seattle." She recalls Vancouver embracing Heart, and touring in one van across Canada in the dead of winter on two lane highways.

The Wilson sisters broke rock's glass ceiling in the '70s and Nancy Wilson says they only had male influences to look to, like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and the Moody Blues.

Now she says she looks out and loves seeing generations of female rockers. "You have boygenius and you have Billie Eilish and you have Olivia Rodrigo and so many amazing women — Maggie Rogers and Sheryl Crow, who calls us her big influence. And then Billie Eilish might have Sheryl Crow as her influence. So it’s a really nice legacy to pass along. I like to say we’re the OG — the original gangsters — of women and rock."

Heart has made it into the Rock Hall, won Grammys, sold millions of albums and rocked hundreds of thousands of fans but Nancy Wilson has one place she'd still like to shine.

Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of their debut album, "Dreamboat Annie," which was the same year that "Saturday Night Live" started. "So we’re actually kind of putting it out there — Heart never played on ‘Saturday Night Live.’ But what about the 50th birthday party with Heart?"

Flouting censure … Taylor Swift.

Taylor Swift’s new album is about a reckless kind of freedom. If only it sounded as uninhibited

Laura Snapes

The Tortured Poets Department depicts a spell of post-breakup mania against the perfect backdrop of the Eras tour – a thrillingly immature reality undermined by safe music

A s The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) finally sees its official release, the intention behind the title remains as enigmatic as it was when Taylor Swift announced it two months ago. The title track seems to mock one such tortured poet who carts a typewriter around and likens the budding couple to Patti Smith and Dylan Thomas. “We’re modern idiots,” Swift laughs. The album’s aesthetic wallows in anguish and Swift’s liner notes and social media captions are littered with self-consciously poetic proclamations. And the erratic period captured in the lyrics couldn’t be further from a life of cloistered studiousness.

TTPD depicts a manic phase in Swift’s life last year, the reality behind the perfect stagecraft of the Eras tour. Wild-eyed from what sounds like the slow dissolution of a six-year relationship, she lunged at a once-forbidden paramour with a taste for dissolution, a foul mouth and a well-founded bad reputation. The latter, she makes clear as she sings repeatedly about flouting paternalistic and public censure, was a central part of the attraction: “He was chaos, he was revelry,” Swift sings on But Daddy I Love Him (evidently about the 1975’s Matty Healy).

Perhaps inevitably, she got burned, causing wounds that are now healed: “And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted,” she wrote in a new Instagram caption, with a primness that belies the unbridled hunger behind the album’s lyrics.

“Growing up precocious sometimes means / Not growing up at all,” Swift sings on But Daddy I Love Him, a self-aware remark about how living up to adults’ expectations of maturity can prevent developing it on your own terms – repression primed to explode.

In outlook, the contents of TTPD are quite thrillingly immature. Swift captures that unhinged period after a big breakup when your centre is gone and with it any sense of reason; when friends’ concerns go unheeded, horniness is high and oblivion has never looked more inviting. She reveals on Guilty as Sin? that fantasising over the idea of someone helped liberate her from her stultifying long-term relationship. And once imagination has sprung you Fresh Out the Slammer, as she sings – “Get the matches / Toss the ashes off the ledge” – you can easily get high on the idea of where else wishful thinking might take you: “I can fix him / No really, I can,” she sings on a song of the same name.

The short length of the tryst in question – six to eight weeks in the public eye, at any rate – just ups the volatility, and the word “crazy” appears repeatedly. The delulu era had found its soundtrack – or at least it would have if TTPD sounded anything like as feral and feckless as its themes.

Since 2020’s Folklore and Evermore , Swift’s only co-producers have been Jack Antonoff and the National’s Aaron Dessner. TTPD largely bobs between their sounds, muting Antonoff’s gated Bleachers boom and stretching Dessner’s composerly intricacy to pop heights it can’t quite buoy. It drains the sparkle from both, and seems to beat a bruised retreat that structurally confines the lacerating lyrics.

It’s a strange contrast. Maybe there is some kind of logic in it. The post-high crash is prone to leave you feeling flayed, grasping at familiarity. Moreover, following rejection in love and by a public who threw tantrums over her association with Healy, perhaps the fame-weary TTPD marks Swift taking her ball home: the sole upbeat moment, I Can Do It With a Broken Heart, sparkles with satire and finds Swift taunting fans as she reveals that she was psychotically miserable as she still hit her marks on the Eras tour once Healy had left the frame. “You know you’re good,” she smirks. “And I’m good.” Revealing that she can play the role perfectly well when she wants to suggests that she really, really doesn’t want to on TTPD.

But that logic doesn’t quite hold when you consider how the album conforms to the demands of the wider entertainment ecosystem. Given Swift’s scale, she can hardly slip out a record below the radar. But at 2am EST on Friday, she revealed that TTPD was in fact a double album – the second half closer to the fictional narratives of 2020’s Folklore and Evermore than the sharp disclosures of the first – and added 15 additional songs to streaming services.

Swift’s streaming dominance makes it easy to forget that a decade ago she pulled her music from Spotify, lambasting them for monetarily devaluing music, and wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that she perceived the value of an album to be “the amount of heart and soul an artist has bled into a body of work”. (She returned in 2017.) Where her pre-2020 albums stuck to a pretty tight artistic vision, the inessential 31-track sprawl of TTPD just feels as though it feeds a streaming machine where volume is everything.

And as much as elements of TTPD exhibit a distaste for the conversation around her – Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? follows Blank Space and Look What You Made Me Do in satirising her reputation by embodying it – it also feeds a gossip-focused media. Naturally, Swift should write about her life however she wants, and her fame means that even her most inscrutable lyrics will be scoured for “clues” (although she has said she’s “trained” fans to behave that way by leaving crumb trails everywhere). But there comes a point when she’s rehashing ancient battles – take a deep breath and spell out the highlighted letters in thanK you aIMee, as she styles it, from the album’s second side – and you have to ask why.

after newsletter promotion

The likely answer feels dispiriting. Although the song is a backhanded message of gratitude for “the way you made me heal”, it also doubtless lights the way to the release of Reputation (Taylor’s Version), the re-recording of her 2017 retort to the Kim and Kanye drama likely due later this year.

Much as parts of TTPD rebuke parts of her audience for revealing the conditions by which they’re willing to accept her, it still keeps both parties trapped in the dance that created that entitlement. Even in such a loose record, Swift is unwilling to relinquish her trademark Easter eggs (But Daddy I Love Him references The Little Mermaid, released in her birth year/album title 1989, as was the Blue Nile’s The Downtown Lights, cited in Guilty as Sin?) and each discovery of a new one hits like a hammered nail. The allusions and retreads play into an IP mentality (surely when the Eras tour resumes in Paris in May, the setlist will get a TTPD refresh) as well as the assumption she once rejected that her songs are puzzles to be solved.

They’re not hard to solve these days. The Alchemy, full of football metaphors, couldn’t be about anything but Swift’s current relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. “So when I touch down / Call the amateurs and cut ‘em from the team / Ditch the clowns, get the crown,” she sings. “We’ve been on a winning streak.”

After toying with a reckless kind of freedom, triumph is a retreat to first principles, a game she knows inside out. For all the online guides discerning the veracity of each song, it’s ultimately the risk aversion of The Tortured Poets Department that undermines its unvarnished truths.

Imagine Dragons announce 2024 ‘Loom’ tour. Get tickets today

You won’t have to imagine an Imagine Dragons tour this year.

The “Radioactive” rockers just announced a nationwide tour in support of their upcoming seventh studio album “Loom.”

Starting in late July, the high-octane trio will kick off the run with back-to-back stops at Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Tuesday, July 30, Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Theater on Friday, Aug. 2 and Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Sunday, Aug. 4.

While fans will likely hear cuts from their sizable stable of hits — as well as tracks from the new record which is due out June 28 — the band wants their audience to attend shows for the communal experience.

“It’s just a lot of people in a room together realizing they’re not alone in their feelings,” lead singer Dan Reynolds told AP News . “I don’t necessarily need them to feel happy or sad or anything. I just want them to look around them and see that other people are also feeling something.”

If that sounds like the spiritual show for you, tickets are available for all upcoming Imagine Dragons concerts as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 26, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Most recently, Imagine Dragons headlined at Dallas, TX’s South Side Ballroom on April 13, 2024.

Here’s what they performed that night, courtesy of Set List FM :

02.) “It’s Time”

03.) “Thunder”

04.) “Birds”

05.) “Follow You”

06.) “Shots”

07.) “Natural”

08.) “Whatever It Takes”

09.) “Sharks”

12.) “Demons”

13.) “On Top of the World”

14.) “Bones”

15.) “Eyes Closed”

16.) “Walking the Wire”

17.) “Radioactive”

Ahead of the album release, Imagine Dragons dropped the quirky single “Eyes Closed,” which walks the line between rock and Hip-Hop, effortlessly switching between the genres, verse by verse.

For our money, the brooding three-minute track fits squarely into the band’s catalog of sonically adventurous anthems.

Sound like the jam for you?
