almost climbing ijen crater is quite easy, for those of you who are used to sports, because you will pass the first 2 km of climbing which is uphill, then 1 km of peak that starts to climb, after seeing the beauty of ijen crater you will have the strength to get to the top, but if you not too strong to climb Ijen crater there is a taxi trolley rental to Ijen crater, but at a price that is quite expensive, to go down to Ijen crater, you have to prepare extra energy, then what are you waiting for, immediately practice and exercise to get ready to climb Ijen crater with us :) , same as bromo just need about less than 2km including 250 step to get top of mount bromo

is temperature Ijen Crater & bromo very cold ?

Yes prepare warm jacket, if you need more jacket hotel rented a jacket in bromo for 25k per jacket , Ijen Crater is at a fairly high altitude between 2000 meters above sea level, even the post start point is already at an altitude of 1900 meters above sea level, quite cold between 8-10 degrees Celsius, so prepare a jacket, there is a beanie hat to sale at bromo or ijen, but walk after heading to the Ijen crater or bromo , your body will feel warm, no need to worry, because the hot sun rises from the ijen crater, the cold will end soon.

Ijen Crater Tour Package From Banyuwangi

The icon of Ijen tourism is the blue fire phenomenon in the crater of the mountain, of course you already know that this phenomenon is rare and only exists in 2 places around the world. You can see the blue fire directly when the sky is still dark, so you have to climb to the crater at midnight.

Not only that, Ijen also has the strongest acid crater lake in the world which contains a pH below 0.5 so that the water in this lake turns green tosca.

Similar to the Bromo Tour , Ijen also has a sunrise charm that is no less beautiful than Bromo because the Ijen sunrise will appear when you are in the crater and the activities of sulfur miners will also decorate your adventure in Ijen crater.

To reach the top of the crater you have to do a climb that starts from the Paltuding post accompanied by an experienced guide. Why should you use the services of a guide? because the hiking trail is quite extreme with various levels of slope besides the sandy, slippery and steep roads with a total path of up to 3 KM.

Ijen Crater Tour Schedule From Ketapang Harbor (1 Day )

The tour to the Ijen crater will start at 11 pm with a pick up of participants by our driver in a comfortable vehicle to the Paltuding post. Paltuding is the gathering point for all climbers. Arriving at the post you will be briefed by the guide while waiting for ticket purchases.

After briefing, start climbing towards Ijen Crater, Arriving at Ijen Crater, immediately explore Blue Fire, Crater Lake, and Ijen Sunrise as well as sulfur mining activities. After you finish enjoying all the beauty of Ijen’s natural tourism, return to the Paltuding post. In Paltuding you can rest, have breakfast, take a shower and others.

If you have finished at Paltuding, you will be escorted by the driver back to the Harbor of Ketapang or other places in Banyuwangi and the Ijen Midnight Tour ends and see you on the next tour.

Ijen Crater Tour Schedule From Ketapang Harbor (2 Day )

Day One: Banyuwangi – Ijen Area Lodging

Our driver will pick you up at the Harbor of Ketapang using a comfortable vehicle to the inn around Ijen with a journey time of about 1-2 hours. Then when you arrive at the inn you can take a break to prepare for the Ijen tour.

Second day : Paltuding – Blue Fire – Crater Lake – Sunrise – Finish

When the clock shows 12 pm our driver will take you to the Paltuding post with a long journey of about 1 hour driving. When you arrive at Paltuding, you will be given directions by the guide while waiting for the purchase of an entrance ticket. After all is done, the climb begins.

After arriving at the top of Ijen you have to go down to the crater as far as 800 meters to witness the phenomenon of blue fire, sunrise, crater lake and sulfur mining activities. After quite satisfied enjoying all the tours in Ijen, return to Paltuding for breakfast or just a break to unwind. After everything is finished, our driver will take you back to Ketapang Harbor or another place in the Banyuwangi area and the 2 day 1 night Ijen tour is over, see you on the next tour.

• Pick up from Surabaya Airport at your arrival time (any morning flight before 10am is highly recommended). If you are already in Surabaya, we will pick you up from your hotel at 9am.
• Travel 3 hours to Madakaripura Waterfall.
• Explore Madakaripura Waterfall.
• Travel 1 hour and c heck into Bromo Terrace Hotel & Resto . You will stay here for 1 night (we will use another hotel of the same standard if this is not available). 
• You can top up an additional SGD 50/pax for the Milky Way tour. We will pick you up at around 10pm instead of 2am. You will head to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park to see the Milky Way first, and stay there until sunrise. (Kindly note that the best time to see the milky way is during the NEW moon period. This add-on is highly weather dependent and non-refundable)

Day 2: Mount Bromo Sunrise – Bondowoso (Ijen Area)

• Pick up from Bromo Terrace Hotel at 2am for Mount Bromo Sunrise.
• Travel 1 hour via a private 4WD jeep to Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park.
• Have a light meal at a nearby shop before hiking.
• Hike for 10–15 minutes to reach the sunrise viewpoint.
• Watch the spectacular sunrise (There are 4 other viewpoints nearby. Our guide will bring you to the viewpoint that is less crowded – all have similar views).
• Return to the 4WD jeep after sunrise and travel 30 minutes to the Sea of Sand.
• Cross the Sea of Sand to reach the rim of Bromo Crater. You can walk 30–45 minutes or ride on a horse (optional, horse-riding fee is not included).
• Climb 250 flight of stairs for 10–15 minutes to reach the rim of Bromo Crater .
• Return to Cemoro Lawang at around 8–9am and transfer back to a private car.
• Return back to the hotel to freshen up and enjoy breakfast. You’ll check out by 12pm. 
• Travel 4–5 hours to Bondowonso (Ijen area).
• Check into Grand Padis Hotel . You will stay here for 1 night (we will use another hotel of the same standard if this is not available). 

Day 3: Mount Ijen Hike – Surabaya / Bali

• Pick up and check out from the hotel at 12am . (We will pick you up at 2am if the blue fire is closed)
• Travel 2 hours to Paltuding area . 
• Hike for 2 – 3 hours to the summit of Mount Ijen.
• Hike another 45 mins from the peak of Mt Ijen to the bottom of the Ijen lake, where you can see the famous Blue Fire of Ijen . (Kindly note that sighting of the Blue Fire is dependent on weather and is not guaranteed).
• Finish hiking at Mount Ijen  by 8 – 9 am .
• Travel 6–7 hours back to Surabaya City.
• Drop off at your hotel in Surabaya / Juanda International Airport / Surabaya Train Station 1 hour before your train departs or 2 hours before your flight departs. 
• You can top up an additional SGD 100/pax if you wish to drop off at Bali. This will be the route: Return back to hotel after the hike, have breakfast and check out after hiking at Mount Ijen. Take a 1 hour ferry from Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi) to Gilimanuk Port (Bali). Drop off to your hotel in Bali via private car. This cost is inclusive of ferry ticket and the transport. We will also use El Hotel Banyuwangi instead of Grand Padis Hotel.

Surabaya/bali – mount ijen – mount bromo – surabaya, day 1: surabaya/bali - mount ijen area.

• Pick up from your Surabaya Airport at your arrival time (best before 10am). If you are already in Surabaya, we will pick you up from your hotel at 9am.
• Travel 6–7 hours to Bondowonso (Ijen area).
• You can top up an additional SGD 100/pax if you wish to be picked up from Bali. This will be the route: Pick up from your hotel in Bali at 9am. Drive 4–5 hours to Gilimanuk Port (Bali). Take a 1 hour ferry to Ketapang Port (Banyuwangi). Drop off at El Hotel Banyuwangi . The cost is inclusive of ferry ticket and the transport.

Day 2: Mount Ijen Hike - Mount Bromo Area

• Travel 6 hours to Madakaripura Waterfall.
• Explore  Madakaripura Waterfall.
• Travel 1 hour and c heck into Bromo Terrace Hotel & Resto.  You will stay here for 1 night (we will use another hotel of the same standard if this is not available). 

Day 3: Mount Bromo Sunrise - Surabaya

For travel to Gunung Penanjakan, Sand Sea and Whispering Savannah, you will switch to a 4WD Jeep

This is the most popular itinerary among the customers. However, if you want to add, change or skip some attractions, we can customise itinerary for you. All the attractions and activities are optional, you can always skip if you don’t want to go. You can leave a note when you check out or tell our guide in the tour.

The entrance fees have various pricing i.e. foreigner, local rate, peak prices etc. It would be better that the customer pay on the spot depending on his/her nationality. Also, it will solve the refund issue if you choose not to go to the attraction when you are on the tour.

Return airport transfer service is included. We would pick you up at Surabaya airport on your arrival time on day 1. If you are already in Surabaya, we would pick you up at your hotel at around 9am instead. 

The nearest international airport to Mount Bromo is Surabaya Juanda International Airport.

You can also start the tour from Bali or Yogyakarta.

Generally, our tours are all inclusive except for Entrance fee/s and meals (lunch & dinner) during the tour.

For lunch and dinner expenses, you can budget it at around 50,000 rupiah/meal or about 5SGD/meal or 4USD/meal. It greatly depends on what you order and where you dine.

As for the entrance fees, we usually state in the tour details or you can pay through us first as a selected option.

Yes. Kindly chat with us for the best date to see the Milky Way.  You will be picked up around 10pm instead of 2:30am. You will head to a nearby peak such as Mount Pananjakan, Mentigen Hill, Kingkong Hill or Seruni Point where you can view the Milky Way. Avid photographers should bring suitable camera equipment such as tripod for Milky Way Photography. You would then continue with the standard itinerary for sunrise views over Mt Bromo. The extra cost is SGD50/pax.

It cost around 100K IDR for one way trip to cross the sand sea on a horse. For a return trip, it will cost around 200K IDR. Note that the horse ride ends close to the start of the stairs to Mt Bromo crater. You will still have to climb the flight of steps up to the crater. Horse ride is entirely optional and you can also walk across the sand sea which most visitors do. Do negotiate with the horsemen to try to get a better deal.

No. Mount Bromo area is very dark and cold in the night. For the safety concern, we don’t allow the customers to hike solely on foot rather than taking the Jeep. 

Sunglasses and sunblock lotion are highly recommended – the sun rays can be harsh and at high altitude, it is easy to get sunburnt even though the surrounding temperature is cold. The terrain is very sandy– wearing a face mask is also recommended for protection. (Akin to walking in a desert). If you are visiting the waterfalls, please bring along wet gears (swim suits with t-shirt and shorts, booties/sandals, spectacle hooks, waterproof cover for camera which can be secured to your body, change of clothes, towel).

Our vehicle will drop you at the parking lot of Madakaripura Waterfalls where you will hop to a motorbike (Ojek) for a short 5 – 10 minutes ride to the entrance. Then you need to do a short trek of around 30 – 45 minutes to reach the waterfalls.

Swimming is no longer allowed at the waterfalls since 2018. But you will still get wet from the water. For footwear, we recommend covered rubber shoes like Crocs.  Sandals/slippers with good grips are also fine but please be careful not to hit any rocks.

“Very fun activity! We initially wanted to see Mt. Visit Bromo and Tumpak Sewu, but afterwards, the Ijen crater was the most impressive. WHAT TO EXPECT:

Our 4 day 3 night Tumpak Sewu Bromo Ijen Tour can start either from Surabaya, Malang or Banyuwangi. Please remember that there is going to be a lot of travel time between the destinations.

If you start from Surabaya/Malang, you will meet the driver at the airport (in Surabaya or Malang). We can also pick you up from your hotel or a train station in Surabaya or Malang. You will head to Madakaripura waterfall, then stay in a hotel in Bromo area (or Probolinggo city area).

The driver will pick you up early in the morning for the tour, and you will be transferred to the jeep between 3 and 3:30 am. You can spot the milky way during the 1-hour-jeep journey to the sunrise viewpoint. At the end of the tour, you will do a short 35 minutes trek to Bromo crater (you can ride a horse with an additional cost if you want to). Visiting Sea Sand and Savannah after a visit to Bromo crater is an option if you are interested (additional Rp100,000).

After exploring Bromo, you will go to Malang and visit Kampung Warna-Warni, which is famous for its painted village, before staying overnight in Malang or Lumajang, depending on your travel time.

On the third day, you’ll head to Lumajang to visit Tumpak Sewu Waterfall. It’s a 2,5-hour drive from Malang. You can either enjoy the panoramic views of the waterfall or climb down to explore it. Be careful; it will be a one-hour challenging walk before you reach the base of the waterfall. A local guide will accompany you during the trek.

After visiting Tumpak Sewu, the driver will take you to Bondowoso or Banyuwangi where you will stay overnight. At midnight, you will be picked up for the Ijen tour. From Paltuding, where you will start the tour, the driver will introduce you to your guide and hand you masks. Hiking to Ijen takes around 1-2,5 hours to the summit of the volcano (one way). And then you have to walk down for around 500 meters to get close to the Ijen crater to watch the famous blue fire (this is not always possible, weather dependant). You can also see the blue fire from afar if you wish.

As the sun rises, the blue fire will disappear, and you will be able to see the turquoise crater lake. At the end of the tour, the driver will take you to Ketapang Port, where you can take the ferry to continue your journey to Bali. Drop off to your hotel in Bali is possible with an additional cost.

This tour gives you the chance to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of East Java. You will be able to visit Bromo, Ijen, Madakaripura Waterfall, and Tumpak Sewu Waterfall in 4 days and 3 nights.

Mount Bromo

Bromo is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia, located in the Tengger Mountains. At 2,329 meters (7,641 feet), it is not the highest peak in the massif, but it is the most famous. The area is one of East Java's most popular tourist destinations, and the volcano is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Bromo is derived from the Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Mount Bromo is located in the "Sea of Sand" nature reserve (Javanese: Segara Wedi or Indonesian: Lautan Pasir), which has been protected since 1919.

The Ijen volcano complex is a group of composite volcanoes in East Java, Indonesia, near the Banyuwangi and Bondowoso regencies. It is notable for its blue fire, acidic crater lake, and laborious sulfur mining. The Ijen volcano, located west of Gunung Merapi, has a turquoise-colored acidic crater lake one kilometer (0.62 miles) wide. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried from the crater floor by hand.

Sukamade beach is roughly 97 kilometers southwest of Banyuwangi. It is a beautiful, tranquil, natural setting that is part of the 50,000-hectare Meru Betiri National Park. Turtles lay eggs on Sukamade beach nearly every night of the year. Because the site is obviously of global importance, the overworked park rangers protect it 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The rangers take some eggs to protect them from human and animal predators. The eggs are incubated in the park's hatchery before being released into the sea from the same beach where they were laid. There are other beaches within the park's boundaries that are comparable, but the turtles appear to prefer Sukamade.

Chinese woman posing for photo dies after fall from edge of crater on Indonesian volcano

A Chinese woman died after and falling off the edge of a crater while posing for a photo on an Indonesian volcano known for its popular “blue fire” phenomenon .

Huang Lihong, 31, and her husband Zhang Yong were in the East Java province on a guided tour when the incident took place. The duo, in their bid to watch the sunrise, had climbed to the edge of the crater of Ijen – a volcano tourism park in the region, reported Hongxing News.

According to the police, she plummeted from a height of 75m and died from the impact of her fall. The death has been marked as an accident, police officials said.

Initially, she was maintaining a safe distance of two to three metres away from the edge of the cliff while taking the photos, the tour guide said.

He added that he had warned the couple about the dangerous points.

However, Lihong then started moving backwards to take a photo closer to a tree for a backdrop of bare straggly branches, the guide said.

She accidentally stepped on her long and flowing clothing while walking backwards, causing her to fall off the cliff, according to reports.

It is not immediately clear if she was wearing a skirt or a dress.

The Ijen volcano is known for its “blue fire” caused by the blue light emitted from the combustion of sulfuric gases.

In 2018, scores of people were forced to evacuate their homes and at least 30 people were hospitalised after the volcano started to emit toxic gases.

Mount Ijen regularly releases small amounts of noxious gases but the site stays open to the public.

Hutan Mati TWA Ijen Ditutup Buntut Wisatawan China Tewas Jatuh ke Jurang

Kawasan Taman Wisata Alam (TWA) Kawah Ijen memiliki spot foto favorit yang kerap menjadi tujuan wisatawan untuk berfoto. Pascatragedi WN China tewas terjatuh ke dasar jurang TWA Kawah Ijen, pengelola menutup salah satu spot foto yang dinilai membahayak wisatawan. Yakni di jalur Hutan Mati sepanjang 400 meter.

Jalur Hutan Mati berada di bibir jurang. Kedalaman jurang mencapai sekitar 100 meter. Kini pengelola telah memasang pita pembatas di beberapa spot jalur Hutan Mati. Petugas juga memasang papan imbauan agar wisatawan tak mendekat ke lokasi itu.

"Kami berembuk dengan para pemandu wisata dan mereka menyetujui bahwa kawasan itu memang rawan sekali. Mereka juga setuju agar jalur itu ditutup sebagai spot berfoto," Kepala Pos TWA Ijen Sigit Hariwibowo, Selasa (23/4/2024).

Selain jalur Hutan Mati, petugas juga membatasi aktivitas wisatawan di tempat pemrosesan blue fire.

Menurut Sigit, penutupan titik spot lokasi foto itu dilakukan hingga batas waktu yang belum ditentukan. Petugas juga belum menentukan spot tersebut bakal ditutup secara permanen atau tidak.

Rencananya, pengelola akan membahas hal tersebut dalam evaluasi yang akan digelar pada 28-30 April mendatang. Selama evaluasi, TWA Kawah Ijen akan ditutup untuk wisatawan.

"Dari Balai Besar KSDA dan teman-teman asosiasi pemandu wisata akan membahasnya nanti. Intinya kami untuk mengambil kebijakan soal keselamatan tanpa membuat wisatawan merasa kecewa berkunjung ke TWA Kawah Ijen," ucap dia.

Diberitakan sebelumnya, seorang wanita asal China tewas usai jatuh dari jurang Gunung Ijen, Banyuwangi, Sabtu (20/4). Sebelum terjatuh, korban sedang asik berfoto di spot favorit puncak Ijen.

Warga Negara China itu berinisial HL (31). Menurut keterangan para saksi di lokasi, HL bersama sejumlah teman dan keluarganya sedang berwisata menikmati keindahan taman wisata Alam Kawah Ijen.

Awalnya, korban berfoto dengan jarak sekitar 2 hingga 3 meter dari bibir kawah. Kemudian, ia mundur untuk mendekat ke objek kayu di belakangnya.

Celaka, kaki korban keserimpet rok panjang yang ia pakai. Akibatnya korban terguling ke belakang dan jatuh ke jurang.
