Lil Wayne basks in the joy of being onstage.

Lil Wayne just announced a massive nationwide 2023 tour and there’s “A Milli” reasons you can’t miss him live this year.

For starters, the “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” is Weezy’s first official tour since his 2019 co-headlining run with Blink-182 . Then, there’s the rumor that the tour may coincide with the release of the highly anticipated “Tha Carter VI” album Lil Wayne teased at the Young Money Reunion concert in summer 2022. Thirdly, and most importantly, seeing Wayne live is essential for any self-respecting hip-hop fan.

And if you’re in the Northeast, you’ll have a few chances to see the self-proclaimed “greatest rapper alive” this summer.

Midway through the tour Lil Wayne is stopping into New York City’s Apollo Theater on April 16.

The next night, April 17, he’ll drop into Philadelphia’s Fillmore .

Want to snag tickets today?

No problem .

Even though inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, Feb. 3, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats  before seats are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Lil Wayne 2023 tour schedule

Lil Wayne will “Let The Beat Build” at venues all over North America starting April 4 at Minneapolis’ Fillmore .

From there, Weezy has huge gigs scheduled at Chicago’s Radius on April 9, Boston’s House of Blues on April 13, Charlotte’s The Fillmore on April 20, Nashville’s Marathon Music Works on April 27 and Denver’s Fillmore Auditorium on May 7.

The “Love Me” rapper will close his 29-concert run at Los Angeles’ The Wiltern on May 13.

A complete calendar featuring all Lil Wayne “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” dates, venues, show start times and links to buy tickets can be found here .

Lil Wayne 2023 festival appearances

At the time of publication, Tunechi has been tapped to lend his talents to two major festivals.

To make your life easy, we found the festival dates, locations, headliners who will be joining Wayne and links to buy tickets.

Lil Wayne new music

Although there are only rumors at this point, Lil Wayne did post a 13-second video in late 2022 claiming that “‘Tha Carter VI’ is on the way.”

However, as we all know, Wayne can’t stay out of the studio.

In 2022, he added four tracks to his 2011 mixtape “Sorry 4 The Wait” and subsequently dropped four more singles.

This year, Weezy has already released a remix of “A Milli” with Sidepiece that might be even more of a club banger than the original.

His most recent full-length album is 2020’s “Funeral.” Pitchfork raved that the five-time Grammy winner “(experiments) with an array of styles and a dizzying maze of wordplay.”

The next year, he collaborated with Rich the Kid on the mixtape “Trust Fund Babies.”

Want to listen to a lot of Wayne right now?

You can hear everything Lil Wayne has been up to these past years here to tide you over until Tha Carter VI hits your headphones.

Lil Wayne (born September 27th, 1982) has become an international superstar, earning his place as one of the biggest rap artists on the 21st century through his prolific output and unique flow.

Born Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., Lil Wayne grew up in New Orleans, US, quickly finding a love for music and hip hop. At 11 years old, Wayne had already gained a job at the Cash Money label, soon recording an album with fellow teenager B.G. As the duo, the B.G.'Z's, they released an album in 1995, titled "True Story," which found many fans of the youngsters. Lil Wayne then became involved with another group, the Hot Boys, which included B.G. alongside Juvenile and Young Turk. The teen hardcore rap outfit released their debut, "Get It How U Live!" in 1997, catching the attention of Universal Records who went on to distribute their second release, "Guerrilla Warfare," which went to the top of Billboard's R&B/Hip-hop charts.

Lil Wayne continued to appear on various Cash Money releases, collaborating with various members of the Hot Boys. In 2003, Wayne's first mixtape, "Da Drought," was released, drawing significant attention from the press, helping to build anticipation for his next full-length. "The Carter" arrived in 2004, breaking Wayne to a mainstream audience, bolstered by the number five single, "Go DJ." Further hit singles followed, becoming one of Cash Money's best-selling releases. "The Carter II" followed n 2005, bringing Wayne further success, selling Platinum.

Wayne continued to release endless mixtapes and appeared in collaborations for various artists, most notably Birdman on the album, "Like Father, Like Son.' After rave reviews of his "Dedication 2" mixtape, Wayne then featured on Chris Bown's

"Gimme That" and Fat Joe's "Make It Rain," keeping Wayne busy till his next album release. It was not until 2008 that a new album arrived, "The Carter III," which was marred by unauthorized album leaks. Despite these setbacks, the album became a huge hit, selling a million copies within its first week. By the end of the year, the album had earned Wayne four Grammy Awards, including 'Best Rap Album,' cementing Wayne's place in the mainstream.

Wayne then turned his hands to rock, appearing alongside Kid Rock at a live performance. His first rock album, "Rebirth," arrived in 2010, unfortunately coinciding with his arrest for possession of a weapon. Despite his arrest, Wayne was still able to release a ten-song EP, "I Am Not a Human Being" in September that year. Upon leaving prison, Wayne started work on a new record, 2011's "The Carter IV," which shot to the top of the Billboard 200 chart. Next, Wayne released the second volume of "I Am Not a Human Being," which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 in March 2013.

Live reviews

In a black hoodie, red cap and sunglasses, Lil Wayne started at the top — croaking lyrics at the crowd from the elevated stage like some sort of gangsta Muppet. It didn’t take long to establish himself as a master of the game with “Blunt Blowin”, “John” and “Steady Mobbin”. Then he politely thanked the audience (as he did after every set) and left the stage. Drake immediately came out as the antithesis to his opponent. Dressed all in white with a simple gold chain, looking like a college kid, Drake started at the bottom (stage) with “Draft Day”, “We Made It” and “The Language”. He didn’t leave with a simple thank you though, he needed to establish the tone first. Admitting Lil Wayne was his boss and mentor, he assured us he was going to “roast that muthafucka alive”. Wayne addressed any concerns when he came back out to give everyone a history lesson. “I heard this kid saying he was going to roast me alive. I’ve been doing this shit since he was in a wheelchair.” The Degrassi jokes continued through the set, as Wayne kept referring to Drake as Jimmy. There was also a lot of banter about hits vs. classics, as Wayne admitted Drake has more ‘hits’, but that he was lacking in the ‘classics’ department. The boxing format went on for 4 rounds. Each artist upping their game in each round. The jokes were there, but as the night went on, the jokes were interlaced with more and more respect for each other. Everything about the Battle Round was in good fun. Verse after hook after verse — they took jabs, but never came to blows. In one breath they would credit their success to one another, and in the next breath, they would call each other’s songs “cute”. It was part hip hop show, part comedy, part roast, but it was all together one of the most entertaining things I have witnessed two rappers do…ever. After a short DJ break, they both came out for the finale. “6 Foot 7 Foot”, “All Me”, “Started From The Bottom” and “The Motto” were highlights, but “Believe Me” (a collab from Wayne’s upcoming album) and the final final “HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)” were among the best performances of the night. At the end of it all, they called it a draw. Supposedly Drake was 1 point ahead on the tour, so he left Red Rock with his 1 point lead. And although I went in as a diehard Wayne supporter, I believe the draw was fair. Who knows if the app really determined the winner. I’m guessing it might all be fixed and they’ll come out in a tie at the end of the tour. That would make sense. But as for their performances on Wednesday night, I think they proved that they both have their strengths and weaknesses, but they are better together. Drake’s smooth, sometime monotonous flow and crooning voice are the perfect remedy to Wayne’s quirks, alien persona and unintelligible lyrics…and vice versa. So the format of this show was perfect. It allowed the strengths to hide the flaws in each artist. It went on for 2 1/2 hours and there wasn’t a single lull in the set. People paid good money to see Drake and Lil Wayne battle it out. They got their money’s worth. At the end of the day, I believe that there were multiple winners. Drake and Lil Wayne were both honestly appreciative to have played the stage at Red Rocks. And they both got paid. The promoters and companies behind the tour will also profit from ticket and merch sales. We won as well. Those of us who were big enough fans of either Drake or Lil Wayne to have spent the money for the show were rewarded with one the best and most unique hip hop events I have ever attended.

The wayne vs drake concert was amazing! They performed almost every hit they ever made and they really brought all their energy on stage and they interacted with the crowd. Each artist performed his best and left everything on that stage. The atmosphere was so much fun and i cant wait to go to another one of their concerts! Drake on the stripper pole was pretty amazing too! It was just the most fun concert ive ever been too

Lil Wayne is a rockstar. He has so much energy and really gets the crowd going. He is a team player and was a joy to see on stage with 2 chainz. The staples center was a great venue for this show. My high expectations were met during the BET experience. I want a surprised by how many beginning acts were also there. Well done weezy!!!

IT....was incredible! He was lively, on point and it will go down as the best concert I've ever seen and I've seen A LOT! The two opening acts were fun also. He did all old school because he's jammed up with label but we did not mind at all!

Waited over 3 hours never saw Wayne so we finally just left. Very disappointed. Concert held in a very shady area. Seating was very uncomfortable. This experience most definitely has made my mind up about concerts. This will be the last one.

It was an awesome ass concert. Lil wayne was amazing! I would definitely go again to see him perform. The opening act was really really good and I stayed for parts of blink 182 but lil wayne definitely killed it last night

Drake Adds Final Big As the What? Shows With Co-Headliner Lil Wayne

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Drake has enlisted Lil Wayne to help him close out the Big As the What? Tour in the coming weeks, including two newly added shows in Newark, New Jersey.

While the trek was billed as a Drake/J. Cole co-headlining run, it appears J. Cole will not be able to make some of the final concerts on the itinerary. So, Lil Wayne will take the stage instead for a run of gigs starting March 23 and 24 at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

Wayne will also perform with Drake at the UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York on March 28 and 29; and the Bryce Jordan Center in State College, Pennsylvania on March 31. The tour will close out with two newly-announced shows, April 4 and 5, at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. (Lil Durk, who’s been providing support for most of the tour, will perform at all the aforementioned stops, except the two shows at UBS Arena.)

After a delay late last year , Drake and J. Cole kicked off the the Big As the What? tour in February. While J. Cole hasn’t dropped an album since 2021’s The Off Season , Drake was touring in support of his most recent effort, For All the Dogs , which arrived last October.

In the midst of the tour, however, Drake has garnered some arguably dubious attention as he’s stood by Tory Lanez in his attempt to appeal his sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot. Drake recently shared a photo of Lanez with the caption “3 you,” which is slang for “free you” (the number “3” symbolizes open handcuffs). Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison last August after being found guilty of shooting Meg during a 2020 altercation.

Olivia Rodrigo Adds Asia and Australia Legs to Guts World Tour

Olivia Rodrigo at the 2022 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Red Carpet held at the Microsoft Theatre on November 5, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

Olivia Rodrigo will tour Asia and Australia for the first time in her career, the singer announced Wednesday. Rodrigo has added nine international dates to her massive “ Guts ” world tour for a total of 82 shows globally.

The new dates kick off Sept. 16 in Bangkok, Thailand and continue through Seoul, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Melbourne, and Sydney, wrapping up on Oct. 19 at Qudos Bank Arena. Additional dates may be added as Rodrigo wrote on social media, “Stay tuned, Manila!” Fans in the comment sections of her social posts are eager to hear when and if Rodrigo will also be adding Latin American dates to the trek but that has yet to be confirmed.

Popular on Variety

The “Guts” tour has since made stops in New York, Houston and Dublin, and will make its way towards London in the coming weeks. It will conclude on Oct. 18 in Sydney.

Tickets for the newly added Asia and Australia dates will be available starting with the American Express presale in select markets.

Rodrigo performed “Vampire” and “Get Him Back!” at MTV’s Video Music Awards on Tuesday night, following Lil Wayne as the second performer of the evening. It was her second-ever appearance at the show as Rodrigo made her VMAs debut in 2021 when she performed her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit “Good 4 U.”

“Guts” was released to high acclaim on Sept. 8 via Geffen Records and was preceded by two top 10 singles, “Vampire” and “Bad Idea Right?” “Vampire” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Rodrigo the youngest artist to debut three No. 1 hits on the chart behind “Drivers License” and “Good 4 U.”

In an interview with Capital FM in England , Rodrigo said she wrote much of the songs on “Guts” with the concept of an accompanying tour “in mind.”

“I think there’s a lot of fun songs,” she said. “I wrote the album with a tour in mind, so I think they’re all songs I wanted people to be able to scream in a crowd. Hopefully, that’s what’s achieved.” A similar teaser — in the form of a faux ticket advertising “Olivia Rodrigo: Guts The World Tour” — appeared in a lyric video for “Making the Bed,” the sixth track off “Guts.”

Rodrigo last toured North America and Europe in support of her debut album “Sour” in 2022. It started on April 5 in Portland and ended on July 7 in London. Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, Chappell Roan and Baby Queen served as opening acts.
