The Puerto-Rican born singer; Luis Miguel, has delighted fans since 1980 with powerful vocals, style and a natural charisma within the Latin genre.

As a young man Luis was made to watch and analyse everything related to Elvis, yes every recording, film and concert, including his music videos.

This prepared him as when he was 11, Luis released his first album through the Mexican branch of EMI, the album titled "Un Sol" would spark a tremendous career and lead to countless tours.

Miguel's 13th album; "Romance" has gone on to gain critical acclaim and wide popularity, setting many records and inevitably becoming extremely successful nationally. Released in 1991, it received good reviews all round. To promote the album, Miguel would set an event at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, a venue capable of holding up to 10,000. Within three hours of the concert going on sale tickets had become sold out, showing the true popularity this artist had gained.

Selling 400,000 copies in its first 10 days and spending 32 weeks at number one on the Billboard Latin pop Albums chart "Romance" then ended both years; 1992 and 1993 as bestselling Latin pop album.

In 1992 Miguel won three awards at the Billboard Music Awards.

The awards include: Best Latin Artist, Best Latin Album and Best Spanish-Singing artist.

As of today Luis Miguel has won five Grammy awards in the categories of: Best Mexican performance, Best Latin Male singer and various others. Alongside four Latin Grammy Awards.

2014 has seen the release of a brand new single titled "Deja Vu" which sounds triumphant and contains a sweet trumpet section which is met by the joyous vocals of the talented singer.

Live reviews

I personally think that there is nothing more appealing than a multi talented musician, and that is exactly what Luis Miguel is. His ability to blend various genres of music, from pop through to mariachi is what makes him one of the most successful Latino artists of this generation. Miguel has sold over 100 million records, making him one of the highest selling Mexican artists of all time, giving his nickname, El Sol De Mexico.

His career spans over 30 years, and I was dubious when I went to see him in concert that I may have caught the tail end of it, and not seen the greatest strengths of the artists. Well, I couldn’t have really been more wrong. Luis Miguel has most definitely still got it. The whole concert was super energetic, and he managed to keep the crowd engaged for the entire performance of over 2 hours! Miguel’s band were awesome, they played with him on all the up beat poppy numbers, and really added a whole new level to the show.

There was a short break in the middle of the show, and directly after, Miguel came to the stage along, and sat at the piano and played a few of his slower love ballads. This was really quite magical to just hear him and his voice on stage. A vulnerable moment he shared with us. I loved every moment of the show, start to finish.

Concert start time on ticket was 7:30pm. Amphitheater was packed, sold out event. Luis Miguel did not get to the amphitheater until 8:30pm or so. He came on at 9:36pm. I noted the time because by this time we were obviously anxious for him to come on. When he came out he was having problems with the audio and seemed like lighting too. Twice he walked off the stage, it seemed he was mad about the technical difficulties.

Typical Luis Miguel he does not interact with the fans instead prefers to look at the screen where he can be checking himself out. He does get the crowd singing and on many songs the crowd sings more than him. I pay to hear him sing not the crowd. It seemed he mumbled some of the words even though he’s got the lyrics running on a monitor located below the screen he kept checking himself on. Needless to say, I was frustrated for half the show. And I say half the show because he did get better once the Mariachi came out and he sang very nicely.

Will I pay to see him again? No. I have no interest in paying for an expensive karaoke where the crowd sings more than the artist.

An icon in Latin America, Luis Miguel has enjoyed a commercially successful career that now spans over three decades. His fanbase continue to flock to his shows in record numbers proving that the ageing singer still has a great deal of relevance in the current market.

A man who seems to believe in both quantity and quality, he has released 22 albums over his career so filtering them into a setlist is clearly a difficult task. This sees Miguel often performing over thirty tracks an evening, creating melodies of some of his best known work. The fans seem to enjoy every carefully considered choice as they scream, cheer and sing at deafening levels. They cheer even louder when the man himself acknowledges them and thanks them profusely for the support. He wraps the show up after hours of dancing, singing and above all entertaining with energy that would put performers of half his age to shame.

It was great to see him perform live again. The last time I saw him in concert was over 15 or more years ago in NYC. He has changed and so has the quality of his voice after all these years and that of course is natural and expected. I had great seats and he sounded wonderful. The only thing I thought was a bit odd was that it seemed many times he didn't face out towards the audience. He was turned more towards the side of the stage or towards the musicians. Although that happened more towards the first part of the show. He faced the audience more towards the middle and end of the show. I don't know if others noticed this but I did. Either way it was great to see him sing again and I will also be going to see him in December 2015 in North Carolina.

No matter whether you are a huge fan of a Luis Miguel or just someone that was there to satisfy curiosity this fantastic artist always delivers a VIP experience. The quality of the show, the vocal arrangements, the improvisation, the variety of his repertory is superb. Takes you in a journey from his origins, his soft ballads, boleros, rancheras, pop, folklore. You will sing, dance and be in awe with the versatility and pristine performance of this talented man. Even though He was almost an hour and a half late I would have waited longer just to be able to enjoy this concert.

His voice is magnificent. Reviews from the concert the night before were knocking his appearance saying he's fat. He is so not fat…he looks good. He's not a kid anymore so he's not skinny but I wouldn't call him fat. He is like fine wine. He is very handsome and exudes class. I do wish he had done more of his older stuff; boleros. The only thing I did not like is the stage lights going out after every song. He needs to engage the audience more. Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable.

bonnie-macias’s profile image

It's pretty pathetic when an artist of this caliber makes his packed house wait for one hour and 20 minutes before he showed his face and then didn't so much as utter a word of apology or gratitude of our patience. This reeks of disrespect and while the show was quite entertaining at various times, this artist's energy and self-centeredness will prevent me from ever buying another ticket to one of his shows...

margo-gurule’s profile image

He was Absolutely Amazing. Sang all the good songs, had the boleros with a piano, old & new and Mariachi songs.

Basically a little bit of everything... Je was engaging and in a gold mood, seemed to be enjoying putting on the show. definitely worth traveling for ❤0

This was one of the best concerts from Luis Miguel. He was fabulous! Su voz no ha cambiado sigue siendo el mejor. El lugar espectacular. Mickey mi idolo. Canto un poco de todo, desde sus inicios hasta lo nuevo. Espero verlo pronto aqui en Washington DC.

He is an extraordinary singer and still got what it takes to be a great performer. The show was supposed to start at 8:30pm but it began at almost 10pm which was not nice for us, the audience, but still it was worth the wait. 5 thumbs up

Set List: Luis Miguel’s 2023 Tour

The Mexican superstar kicked off his latest world tour in Buenos Aires in August by leading the audience through 50 songs from across his storied career. The show was divided into five movements—boleros, tangos, ballads, duets and pop hits—and included a fabulous mariachi interlude as well as glitzy duets with Michael Jackson and Frank Sinatra (their voices, at least). The production will travel to Central and South America, the US, Canada and Europe through 2024. Whether you’re getting ready for an upcoming show or reminiscing about one you recently attended, explore the songs “El Sol de México” is playing on the road.

Luis Miguel Announces Tour For 2023 — & Everyone is Losing It

luis miguel tour 2023 europe

Luis Miguel celebrated Valentine’s Day yesterday (Feb. 14) with some big news for his fans. El Sol de México  announced  that he would go on tour this year.

In the past few years, Miguel has lived out of the public eye and let his life story be told in the hit Netflix show,  Luis Miguel: The Series . During the drought of Luis Miguel news, his fans have still  programmed  his hits into  Mario Kart  and gone wild for the  few times  he’s been seen in public. Miguel will return to the scene this year with a new tour.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Luis Miguel (@lmxlm)

Miguel is known for his timeless love songs, so it was perfect timing to announce his comeback on Valentine’s Day. He posted a smiling photo on Instagram with the message: Luis Miguel Tour 2023. Miguel’s last tour was Gira México Por Siempre, which wrapped in Sept. 2019.

Though Miguel hasn’t released more information about the tour or any dates yet, he already has fans excited for his return. His announcement has inspired plenty of funny memes and tweets. One fan posted a photo of a fish from  Spongebob Squarepants  karate-chopping off someone’s lung, inferring that they will sell a lung for tickets to Miguel’s tour. Another fan wrote, “Depression is canceled. Luis Miguel has just announced a tour.”

It will be interesting to see what songs he decides to sing on his upcoming tour. In his absence, his music has been covered around the world. In 2018, K-Pop group Super Junior released  a cover  of Miguel’s classic “Ahora Te Puedes Marchar.” Spanish pop star Abraham Mateo also released his own cover of the song last year.

“Luis Miguel announces his tour when he sees the Arena Ciudad de México explode singing “Ahora te Puedes Marchar” with #SUPERJUNIOR. Yep,” Remezcla’s music editor, Alexis Hodoyán, wrote on Twitter.

Since Miguel’s music has gone more global, it will be exciting to see if he’s joined by any special guests on tour. Still, the most important news right now is that LuisMi will return to the stage this year.

The 2023 Luis Miguel Tour, led by the Latin artist with the highest box office earnings in history, has not only been an enormous success but has also sparked a flurry of rumors in a remarkably short time. In just one month since he kicked off the tour, various false rumors have circulated, ranging from claims about doubles — a theory that doesn’t hold, given his unmistakable voice—to reports of an alleged emergency hospitalization that never actually occurred. Furthermore, there have been unfounded assertions that the singer had undergone a ‘gastric sleeve’ procedure, a far-fetched story that we have confirmed is also untrue.

Luis Miguel continues with his successful world tour 2023-2024 ‘sold out’

The alleged medical professional neither knows Luis Miguel, has never operated on him nor advises him on medical or nutritional matters. This rumor has spread like wildfire, turning the information into an internationally-sized lie. So much so that Luis Miguel’s legal team has decided to take legal action against those who have helped spread this fake news, which has generated headlines completely detached from reality.

No doubles, no gastric sleeves, no hospitalizations

The only truth is that Luis Miguel continues to be a musical phenomenon that fills auditoriums, arenas, and stadiums in just a few hours, making him the highest-grossing Latin artist in history, according to data collected by Billboard Boxscore since the 1980s. Since then, ‘The Sun of Mexico’ has performed 567 concerts and brought together 4.3 million people at his shows.

The singer is, without a doubt, an icon of Latin music.

Throughout this tour, the Latin superstar has consistently achieved sold-out performances at every concert. Looking ahead to the summer of 2024, Luis Miguel has unveiled plans for his most extensive tour in Spain to date, set to be a pivotal part of his international tour, which encompasses over 200 concerts across the world.

Luis Miguel

Luis Miguel gave a concert in Buenos Aires on Thursday (August 3) in which he wound through his entire musical career, with 50 chosen songs. And not only did he have a mariachi from Mexico in tow for a segment dedicated to his country, he also moved everyone by singing “duets” with the voices of late music legends Frank Sinatra and Michael Jackson.

For the inaugural concert of his 2023 Tour, with 10 dates scheduled in Argentina and more than 65 in total, the Mexican idol came on stage precisely on time, at 9:00 p.m., wearing a black suit, immaculate white shirt and matching tie. He opened by performing “Será Que No Me Amas,” ending a four-year wait for his fans — this time around 15,000 attendees, comprised mostly of women.

An uneven stage set with stairs from side to side, an orchestra with more than 20 musicians directed by maestro Kiko Cibrián, three backup singers who came and went according to the musical demand of the songs, and a screen whose images changed to give context to what Luis Miguel was singing during the night all provided the framework for the evening. A peculiar detail was added to the show by the bracelets distributed to the attendees, which changed color with the songs.

If the show at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires is any indication, here are five things to expect from a Luismi concert in your city. The Latin superstar has extended his trek through 2024, and will now play 50 additional dates next year. To see all the new dates, click here .

Actions that speak louder than words

Throughout the concert, Luis Miguel remained very communicative with the public. He did not do it with words, since he spoke little, but he did do so with very noticeable gestures. The superstar was generally in high spirits, dancing and on several occasions bending down to shake the eager hands of his admiring fans sitting in the front row.

Defined musical moments

The show is divided into different well differentiated sections, announced with a poster on the screen to prepare the viewer: “Boleros.” “Tangos.” “Ballads.” “Duets.” “Pop.”

Marichi takeover

A sublime moment of the night occurred when 14 mariachis wearing huge Mexican sombreros took the stage to sing classic Mexican songs, including “Si Nos Dejan,” “La Bikina” and several more, culminating with “La Media Vuelta.”

Two special duets

Another important moment was the “duets.” Luis Miguel sang “Sonríe (Smile)” with the voice of Michael Jackson, while black-and-white photos of the late King of Pop were projected on the screen — and then, “Come Fly With Me” alongside the Chairman of the Board, Frank Sinatra.

A tango in Buenos Aires

For the tango portion of the show, the Argentine bandoneon player Nicolás Perrone appeared on stage, who — together with a couple of dancers — accompanied the Sol de México in the interpretation of “Volver,” “Por Una Cabeza,” “Uno” and “El Día Que Me Quieras.” For the latter, Luis Miguel displayed all his vocal talent and received one of the biggest ovations of the night.

Luis Miguel Announces 50 New Tour Dates for 2024

See all stops for “Luis Miguel Tour 2024.”

After strong sales of the 65 dates of his  Luis Miguel Tour 2023,  which will play until the end of the year, Latin superstar Luis Miguel will extend his trek through 2024,  Billboard  can exclusively reveal.

The Mexican singer will play 50 additional dates next year, making stops in Central and South America, the United States, Canada and Europe.

Luis Miguel Tour 2024  will officially kick off in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic on Jan. 20, 2024, and will go to Central and South America before circling back to the U.S., April 4 in Seattle, WA. He’ll then play 32 dates, ending June 16 in Greensboro, North Carolina. The shows will be produced by CMN and Fenix, who are also producing the current leg of the tour.

Miguel’s 2023 tour officially kicked off Aug. 3 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with the singer performing over 50 songs from his vast catalog, including timeless hits such as “La incondicional,” “Ahora te puedes marchar,” and “Hasta que me olvides.”

The highly-anticipated tour is Miguel’s first outing since his 2018-2019  México por Siempre  tour, which grossed $101.4 million and sold 965,000 tickets across 116 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore. It was the highest grossing  Latin  tour in Boxscore history until last year when  Bad Bunny ‘s  El Último Tour del Mundo  and  World’s Hottest Tour  surpassed it.

The  México por Siempre  tour coincided with the first season of  Luis Miguel: The Series , based on Miguel’s life and premiering in April 2018. The second and third seasons of the series streamed on Netflix in 2021, in the middle of the pandemic, heightening interest in Miguel and his catalog, despite the fact that he hasn’t released a studio album since 2017’s  ¡Mexico Por Siempre !

Luis Miguel Tour 2024  tickets go on presale Thursday, Aug. 10 at 10 am ET, and all tickets will go on sale Aug. 11 for the U.S.

Luis Miguel Tickets from $172

Based on his previous tour, the México Por Siempre Tour, which took Luis Miguel from 2018 to 2019 to complete, he generated revenue totaling 101.4 million and sold just under one million tickets from 116 shows. As a matter of fact, Billboard's Boxscore gave it the title of the highest grossing Latin tour in its history until Bad Bunny came along with his trek and surpassed it.

It's safe to assume that this momentum will carry over into the current tour, and with Latin music on the rise, it will only get better. Not only that, the tour was announced earlier this year in April and sold over 400,000 tickets in just 24 hours. Having already performed that part of the trek, his set list there included over 50 hits from his vast catalog, including his most endearing hits such as “Ahora te puedes marchar,” “La incondicional,” and “Hasta que me olvides.”

Born in 1970 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, he started his career as a child singer and soon developed into one of the most popular singers in Latin music. His ability to capture audiences hearts and minds comes from his versatile vocals, which include strong vibrato, outstanding breath control, and interpretive skills.

He has become easily praised as one of the greatest Latin singers of all time and is lovingly called the "Voice of Mexico" by fans and critics alike. He is a true legend, and his music will be enjoyed by generations of people for a long time to come so much so that Netflix has already released self-titled T.V. series about his life. It revealed so many different parts to the man and was also a commercial success.

Ultimately, getting to one of his shows is a genuine treat, and fans of music will not want to miss out on this spectacular event. As you're probably already aware, tickets are pretty hard to come by right now, but lucky for you, we've got your back, and you can get hold of them right here and now, but you've gotta be quick. Do it now and save yourself the disappointment.

Latin icon Luis Miguel’s tour shifts 3.1m tickets

The veteran Mexican singer scored the fourth-biggest selling global tour of Q1 and will perform more than 100 concerts worldwide in 2024

Veteran Latin singer Luis Miguel has emerged as one of the year’s biggest touring artists after selling 3.1 million tickets for his first global trek in five years.

Produced by Fenix Entertainment, Cárdenas Marketing Network (CMN) and Iglesias Entertainment, the 54-year-old Mexican performed 66 shows to 900,000 fans in 2023 and will play 111 concerts to more than 2.2m people this year.

Miguel, who first rose to fame in the 1980s, was ranked at No.4 in Pollstar ‘s Worldwide Top 100 Artist Grosses for Q1 2024, grossing $84,367,629 from 593,308 ticket sales to trail only Coldplay, U2 and Madonna.

“Why is this happening? Because he’s an idol. People love him,” Henry Cárdenas, CEO and founder of CMN, tells Pollstar . “The other thing is that he doesn’t go out every year, and people were hungry to see him.”

“This is a unique artist. He is elegant, and people like to pay to see an elegant singer. He can be playing at Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden or a soccer stadium, and he’s always dressed elegantly. He’s not on MTV, or radio stations every day doing interviews. It’s about his talent.”

“He saw the response and said, ‘I want to do something that [no Latin artist] has done. I want to do 200 shows'”

The Luis Miguel Tour kicked off in August 2023 at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he performed 10 sold-out nights. The run continued with 10 sold-out shows in Chile and 25 sold-out stadiums in the US, before closing with 21 shows in Mexico. More dates were added due to demand.

“He saw the response and said, ‘I want to do something that [no Latin artist] has done. I want to do 200 shows,’” adds Cárdenas. “And I said let’s do it.”

The outing, which includes more than 150 crew members, including 15 musicians and 19 mariachis. resumed on 18 January at Santo Domingo’s Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in the Dominican Republic, followed by three sold-out concerts at El Coliseo de Puerto Rico, two shows in Guatemala, and stops in El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Venezuela.

Currently in Colombia, the tour will extend through Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, the US, Canada, Spain and Mexico.

The Spanish leg will feature 15 dates from 28 June to 3 August, including two sold-out gigs at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu stadium. It will also visit Córdoba, Sevilla, Pamplona, Murcia, Roquetas de Mar, Barcelona, A Coruña, Cádiz, Valencia and Marbella.
