Royal Suite

DECK 8 ROYAL SUITE is sized 92 m2 and accommodates up to 4 passengers. The stateroom has a separate bedroom with 1 double / king-size bed (non-(convertible to twins). The living room has 1 double sofabed (for 3rd / 4th person). The bathroom has separate shower and bath (hot tub). The second bathroom is WC-sink only. The Royal Suite features a baby grand piano, walk-in closet, step-out veranda with whirlpool tub.

Balcony Executive Suite

DECK 8 EXECUTIVE SUITES are sized 47 m2 and accommodate up to 4 passengers. The staterooms are furnished with 1 double / Queen-size bed (non-(convertible to twins) plus 1 double sofabed. The bathroom has separate shower and whirlpool bath tub.

2-Bedroom Family Suite

DECK 8 FAMILY SUITES are sized 32 m2 and accommodate up to 7 passengers. The staterooms have master bedroom (with 1 double / Queen-size bed), second bedroom (with 2 twin beds convertible to double / Queen-size, plus 2 upper bunk beds folding down for the wall) and living room (with 1 double sofabed). There are 2 bathrooms - one with whirlpool bath tub, and one with shower.

Grand Suite

DECK 8 GRAND SUITES are sized 32 m2 and accommodate up to 4 passengers. The staterooms are furnished with 2 twin beds (convertible to double / Queen-size) plus 1 double sofabed (for 3rd / 4th person). The bathroom has shower and bath (hot tub).

Junior Suite

• DECK 8 JUNIOR SUITES are sized 21 m2 and accommodate up to 4 passengers. The staterooms are furnished with 2 twin beds (convertible to double / Queen-size) plus 1 double sofabed (for 3rd / 4th person). The bathroom has shower and bath (hot tub).

• DECKS 6-7-8 INSIDE CABINS are sized 12-13 m2 and accommodate 2 passengers (2 twin beds convertible to double / Queen-size).
• DECKS 7-8 INSIDE PLUS CABINS are sized 15 m2 and accommodate 2 passengers (2 twin beds convertible to double / Queen-size).

Single Cabins

Each Single Cabin has 2 twin beds (convertible to double / Queen-size), bedside cabinets, wall-mounted reading lamps, flat TV, mirrored vanity / dressing table with chest of drawers and chair, sofa, en-suite bathroom (single-sink vanity, WC / shower). These staterooms are designed for solo travelers and can be booked with single-occupancy rates (no single supplement is required).

Marella Discovery 2 cabins review

Of all Marella Discovery 2 ship cabins, 356 (35%) are with private balconies and 328 are with a 3rd/4th bed. Wheelchair accessible are 17 staterooms. The total number of cabin categories is 24, including the "Guaranteed" categories W-Suite, X-Balcony, Y-Oceanview, and Z-Inside.

All Marella Discovery 2 Suites have a king bed, large-size bathroom (whirlpool bathtub, separate shower), vanity area, walk-in closet, large living area (queen-size sofabed, dining area/pantry, wet bar, kitchen, dining table), private balcony (sliding floor-ceiling doors, whirlpool bathtub, sun loungers).

Guests in all Suites (excluding Junior Suites only) enjoy the following bonus amenities: Concierge Service (24-hour Concierge Lounge access /continental breakfast, hors d’oeuvres, CD/DVD library, private parties arrangements, priority services (Salon/Spa reservations, booking RCI cruise tours/excursions, dining reservations).

Royal Suite has 2 separate bedrooms (master and guest), extended balcony (whirlpool, deluxe lounge furniture), media center (surround sound, large flat TV, stereo, CD/DVD player), baby grand piano.

Owner Suites have queen beds, walk-in closet, large bathroom (separate bathtub/shower), large living room (double sofa bed, dining area, bar, fridge), media center.

Royal Family Suites have 2 separate bedrooms (each with 2 twin beds /to queen), guest bedroom (2 twin beds /convertible, plus 2 bunk beds), living room (vanity, double sofa bed, dining table, dresser, sofa), bathroom (shower).

Grand and Junior Suites have 2 twin beds (convertible), walk-in closet, large bathroom (bathtub, shower), large living room (desk, drawers, vanity, sofa bed, chairs).

All balcony staterooms have floor-ceiling sliding doors opening to a private verandah.

PV-Panoramic Oceanview cabins (midship-location on decks 7 and 8) feature floor-ceiling windows (sized in inches 76 high x 100-320 wide / in meters 1,9 height x 2,5-8 width). That is one huge window. These are premium cruise accommodations sized 200 ft2 (18 m2), each with 2 twin beds (convertible), a larger living area (desk, drawers, vanity, double sofa bed), ample closet space, bathroom (WC/shower). These staterooms offer amazing unobstructed views and bookings at cheaper than balcony cabin prices. All other grades Oceanview cabins are with a Porthole Window (round-shaped, size 24-inch / 61 cm) or with Picture Windows.

All cabins as amenities have 2 twin beds (convertible to queen), ample closet/drawer space, private bathroom (shower, hairdryer, bath products), sitting area (desk, drawers, vanity, sofa), smart HDTV, individual air-conditioning, direct-dial phone, safe, radio, minibar, Internet access, 24-hour room service (5-12 am /complimentary).

Some staterooms have either couch (convertible sofabed) or upper/bunk beds (Pullman beds) for 3rd/4th person. The twin bed size is 36 x 82 inches (90 x 210 cm).

In-cabin babysitting is available at an hourly fee (US$19 per kid) for 4 kids per stateroom max.

For in-cabin use can be borrowed movies, toys, and games suitable for kids with autism.

Bonus services (Marella cruise price-inclusive for all Suite cabin categories) are: free Internet access, complimentary mini-bar (fridge with free drinks /replenished daily), Xbox gaming console, concierge service (packing/unpacking, daily newspaper, dinner reservations at specialty restaurants, SPA reservations, private land tours/shore excursions and parties), priority services (check-in, embarkation, disembarkation, tendering), in-room dining (hot/cold snacks and fresh fruits /between 7 am - 7 pm), exclusive Suites-only access to the X-Lounge (with Champagne and brand alcohol drinks) and private sundeck (sunbathing area).

TUI Marella Cruises “Premier Service” is available for passengers in Suite cabins only. The list of perks includes priority check-in, once per week Continental Breakfast in bed, complimentary pressing (only during the first 24 hours on the ship, 3 items PP limit), concierge service for dining/tours reservations. Express services (airport check-in, luggage delivery) are subject to availability at ports of call.

Marella Cruises Cancels Middle East and Asia Itineraries

• April 22, 2024

Marella Cruises informed its guests that the entire season of Middle East and Asia itineraries are now cancelled due to the conflict in the Red Sea.

“For the safety of our customers and crew, we can confirm that due to the ongoing conflict in the Red Sea area, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our Asia and Middle East program between November 1, 2024 – April 30, 2025,” the company said in a statement.

“We appreciate how disappointing this news will be and therefore all impacted customers will be contacted by their booking agent to discuss the options available to them. Options include being able to rebook with a £200 per person reduction or receive a full refund.”

The British cruise line is currently rerouting the Marella Discovery 2, which has been based in Singapore during the winter season. The ship is currently sailing around Africa instead of via the Red Sea. This resulted in canceling Discovery’s repositioning cruise from Asia to Europe, as well as the winter 2024-25 program in Asia.

Marella Cruises is yet to announce where the ship will be based during the winter 2024-25 season.
