Due to its Mini-Turbo Plus skill, Charger is the best pick in the entire kart list in Mario Kart Tour. Gold Cheap Charger’s base stats sync with its special skill that gives a short boost in speed.

If you’re good at using the Jump Boost skill, then make sure you use it with Festival Girl. This skill allows you to extend the performance of the kart’s skill and, in the meantime, you can also collect extra points.

Choco’s special skill is also Mini-Turbo Plus, which greatly increases the stock speed and acceleration once you trigger it. Remember to use it when there’s a perfect chance to overtake multiple karts as it will also allow you to nab extra points.

Best picks in A Tier

As you've probably guessed, the Mini-Turbo Plus skill is one of the most popular and powerful skills in the game as the cars that use it all find themselves placed in the top tiers. Happy Ride also uses Mini-Turbo Plus and the effects of the skill are the same as the previous.

Red Taxi’s special skill is Dash Panel boost. Use it wisely to bring the best out of it in terms of increasing the kart’s performance and extra points. Although it's worth noting this skill can’t be upgraded.

This kart also uses the Mini-Turbo Plus which allows it to gain a speed boost. Although the skill might be the same, it works differently when used in this kart.

  • Cheermellow
  • Red Standard 8
  • White Royale
  • Yellow Offroader
  • Red Offroader
  • Turbo Birdo

Best picks in B Tier

If you plan on using the Dash Panel skills, Wild Pink is a good choice in this tier. The best way to earn extra points while using this skill is by activating it when overtaking more than three karts.

Making a good start and leading the race from the beginning can guarantee you an easy win. To help you with that, the Rocket Start Plus skill comes into action and gives you an extra boost in speed at the start of the race.

A jump boost is very essential and helpful in some situations when the contest is about to finish. To utilise it in the best way, use it during the last lap as you approach the finish line.

Gold Blooper

  • Wild Wiggler kart
  • Black Sneeker
  • Gold Blooper
  • Gold Bullet Blaster
  • Radish Rider
  • Vampire Flyer Kartr
  • Sweet Daytripper
  • Black Circuit
  • Black B Dasher
  • Yellow Turbo Birdo
  • Super Blooper
  • Piranha Pipes kart
  • Turbo Yoshi
  • Yellow Turbo Yoshi kart
  • Black Penguin Slider
  • Pirate Sushi Racer
  • Chrome DK Jumbo
  • Koopa Clown
  • Red B Dasher
  • Red Streamliner

Best picks in C Tier

If you plan to use any kart from this tier, Gold Blooper can be a good choice as it uses the powerful Mini Boost Plus, which - as you know by now - will help increase acceleration.

Activate Slipstream Plus when you’re drifting on the track. This will allow you to overtake maximum racers while the boost is still active.

The jump boost might not be much effective when paired with Cloud 9. But considering the tier, it is still viable. There are also many alternatives to Cloud 9 which come with other upgradable skills.

Mario Kart Tour kart tier list Sunny Sailer

  • Sunny Surf Sailer
  • Cheep Charger
  • Green Cheep Charger
  • Red Turbo Yoshi
  • Birthday Girl Daisy

  • Rambi Rider
  • Poltergust 4000
  • Light-blue Turbo Yoshi
  • Light-blue Turbo Birdo
  • Flame Flyer
  • Streamliner
  • Birthday Girl
  • Green Kiddie Kart
  • Pink Mushmellow
  • Red Kiddie Kart
  • Koopa Dasher
  • Bullet Blaster

Best picks in D Tier

It is probably the only kart in this tier that has Rocket Start plus ability. As usual, use it when the race begins to give you an advantage over the other karters.

Daytripper’s Dash Panel boost is enough to give it an advantage over others. But, using the Plus ability on the stock one will allow you to claim more points than usual.

The only Jump Boost skilled kart we would recommend to use in this tier. At max, it lets your kart gain 1.15 times boost in comparison to the normal option.

Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List – Best Drivers in the Game!

Image of Jean-Pierre van Wyk

Our Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List goes over the best drivers you can collect in the game! If you want to have the greatest advantage when going into a race, you'll want to have the racers with the highest possibility of going on a frenzy! This list features a look at which racers have the highest rate for that and what their special skill is!

Update (10/10/19): New characters have been added to the game and have been placed on our tier list!

Mario Kart Tour Characters Tier List

Characters across the board pretty much drive exactly the same, so the thing that sets them apart are rarities, frenzy levels, and special skills. So, those are the metrics we're taking into account when ranking all of the drivers! Higher rarity characters have more potential to be upgraded when leveling them up.

Dry Bowser has one of the best abilities to utilize, and also has five frenzy levels and an additional four two item bonus courses. Add those up and you likely have the best driver in the game!

Mario (Hakama) is a new character in the recent patch, and he's got a pretty good set of favored courses. His special skill isn't super strong though, so he isn't able to jump to the top of the list just yet.

Special Skill: Coin Box

Spits out coins with reckless abandon. It's a very generous item!
  • Bowser's Casstle 1T
  • Mario Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 2
  • Tokyo Blur R/T
  • Bowser's Castle 1R
  • Mario Circuit 1R
  • Mario Circuit 2T

Special Skill: Double Bob-ombs

  • Daisy Hills
  • New York Minute T
  • New York Minute R
  • Daisy Hills R

Peachette has good value and a pretty decent ability. If you can get good with the ability and not leave any mushrooms for your opponents then it is even better!

Special Skill: Mushroom Cannon

Rapidly fires Mushrooms onto the course. Grab as many as you can to dash ahead!
  • Dino Dino Jungle R
  • Mario Circuit
  • Toad Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit R
  • Yoshi Circuit
  • Mario Circuit 1

Peach (Kimono)

mario kart tour tier list

Peach (Kimono) is very similar to Peachette, but has a couple less courses in the two items category which keeps it a bit low.

  • Tokyo Blur R

mario kart tour tier list

Pauline has a great ability which is what sets her slightly above some of the other drivers in this tier. The problem for her is that her value is weak because of only two frenzy levels.

Special Skill: Lucky Seven

Surround your kart with seven items. Tap once to use them all!
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon T

mario kart tour tier list

Peach has a ton of value with the four frenzy levels and has a pretty solid special ability that gives her a way to protect herself from attacks!

Special Skill: Heart

This Heart is overflowing with kindness! It will protect you from opponent’s attacks.
  • Koopa Troopa Beach R
  • Koopa Troopa Beach T

mario kart tour tier list

Daisy is very similar to Peach and has the same ability. She is only edged out because she has one less two item course.

  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R

mario kart tour tier list

Mario is a very solid driver with a lot of value and a pretty good special skill.

  • Koopa Troopa Beach

mario kart tour tier list

Bowser has slightly more value than Donkey Kong and has a better special skill.

  • Bowser’s Castle 1T
  • Kalimari Desert

mario kart tour tier list

Bowser Jr. comes out of the gate relatively strong with a good ability and quite a few frenzy course options.

  • Choco Island 2R
  • Bowser's Castle 1T
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon

mario kart tour tier list

Diddy Kong slides down the list a bit with a lack of frenzy courses and an only somewhat useful ability. Spraying a bunch of bananas on the course isn't terrible, but you'll have to be sure to avoid them yourself!

Special Skill: Banana Barrels

This barrel automatically launches Bananas. Turn the course into a sea of Bananas!
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Choco Island 2T

mario kart tour tier list

Wario's got a pretty good ability, but is lacking a bit in frenzy courses.

  • Kalimari Desert R
  • Choco Island 2

Donkey Kong

mario kart tour tier list

Donkey Kong only has two frenzy courses and his ability isn't particularly great.

Special Skill: Giant Banana

This particularly stern-looking Giant Banana splits into three Bananas when hit.

mario kart tour tier list

Yoshi has strong value with the three frenzy courses, but unfortunately his ability is RNG based which makes it hit and miss.

Special Skill: Yoshi's Egg

Chases down opponents. But what’s inside?! You’ll find out when it breaks!

mario kart tour tier list

Toad got an additional frenzy course in the recent update which puts him firmly ahead of Toadette.

Special Skill: Triple Mushrooms

Gives you three Mushrooms to use in one go for a long-lasting boost.

Toadette - 12

mario kart tour tier list

Toadette isn't bad, but she's only got a couple of frenzy courses which keeps her low on the tier.

mario kart tour tier list

Lakitu and Toadette are very similar, it just depends which ability you value more.

Special Skill: Triple Green Shells

Three Green Shells surround your kart. They’ll fire off rapidly all at once!

Rosalina - 10

mario kart tour tier list

Rosalina is a new character in the patch, but finds herself at the bottom of the tier. She's lacking in frenzy courses, and her ability is okay but it being able to be used by opponents is pretty bad.

Special Skill: Dash Ring

Pass through this for a burst of speed. Your opponents can use it, too, so make it count!

The B-Tier is pretty much all determined on frenzy courses and based upon their abilities. There's not a ton separating the majority of these characters.

  • Bowser's Castle 1

Special Skill: Bubble

Kick back and relax as this bubble floats you around. But beware the sudden pop!

Mario Kart Tour Drivers: Best Character Tier List

Image of Ty Arthur

Want to get the most points possible in any given track and smash through the ranked cups in Mario Kart Tour ? Like any gacha game, some drivers you’ll pull are much better than others, which we’ve broken down below with a complete and definitive  Mario Kart Tour tier list.

Wondering how we arrived at our “S” to “C” rankings? We had two main considerations when picking the best to worst MKT drivers: the driver’s special ability, and how many favored courses they have that allow for 3 item pickups at once.

More favored courses means higher starting points and more opportunities for frenzies, which results in more gold stars for unlocking additional cups.

Mario Kart Tour Driver Tier List

Note that we only listed out the 3-item favored courses below, since those are the only tracks where you can get a frenzy. Some of the “S”, “A”, and “B” ranked drivers also have a large number of 2-item favored courses, making them extra versatile before you gain a larger roster of drivers.

Finally, keep in mind that Pauline has far fewer favored courses than other “A”-ranked characters, but her Lucky Seven ability more than makes up for that shortcoming.

What do you think of our rankings, and which Mario Kart Tour driver is your top “S”-ranked choice? Sound off in the comments below!

Mario Kart Tour Karts Tier List: The Best and Worst Karts in the Game

By: Author Darko Radic

Posted on Last updated: November 12, 2019

Mario Kart Tour is an action-packed racing game that features all the well-known Nintendo characters. Of course, the popular Italian brothers are among the drivers as well. The game is available for iOS and Android devices. And, if you are new to the world of Mario Kart Tour – make sure to check out our beginner’s guide for loads of useful tips and tricks. If you are interested in finding out who are the best drivers in the game, well we’ve also got you covered, just head over to our Mario Kart Tour drivers tier list .

Needless to say, the goal of the game is to be the first one to cross the finish line. Well, the features of your kart will affect the result, and that is why it is important to use the right vehicle. For that reason, we have come up with a detailed Mario Kart Tour karts tier list. To be precise, this guide covers the best and worst karts in the game, providing you with all the info you could ever need. So, let’s check out the best and worst karts in Mario Kart Tour.

1. Blue Bandwagon

blue bandwagon mario kart tour

With its glittering and stylish appearance, Blue Bandwagon stands out from the crowd. Likewise, this kart offers some great bonuses as well as driving capabilities. In short, it is easy to see why Blue Bandwagon is our joint favorite. For instance, this points-making machine is the best kart in the game because it has three favored courses. To clarify, these courses will double your bonus points. On top of that, Blue Bandwagon comes with as many as seven secondary courses, which offer x1.5 multiplier on bonus points.

2. Gold Blooper

Another shiny kart is the Gold Blooper, a kart that offers a range of benefits. In a way, the differences between the Blue Bandwagon and the Gold Blooper are barely noticeable. Yet, the latter kart has a lower value because it has a weaker special ability. In other words, Gold Blooper comes equipped with the so-called Mini-Turbo Plus. This special skill increases the time and points earned during the Mini-Turbo bonus. In addition, Gold Blooper can double the bonus on six favored courses. Likewise, this kart has six secondary tracks as well.

3. Soda Jet

soda jet mario kart tour

The next entry on our list of the best karts in Mario Kart Tour is a cute little airplane. Like the previous kart on the list, Soda Jet also comes with the Mini-Turbo Plus special ability. Yet, this energetic airplane is not as powerful as the Gold Blooper when it comes to favored tracks. To be precise, Soda Jet has four favored courses and six secondary ones. In essence, Soda Jet is best suitable for the following tracks: Koopa Troopa Beach, Tokyo Blur, or the New York Minute.

4. Koopa Clown

Another powerful kart in the game is the Koopa Clown, which is famous for being Bowser Jr.’s favorite kart. As such, this vehicle is a great option for racetracks such as Neo Bowser City or the Rainbow Road. When it comes to special abilities, Koopa Clown also relies on the Mini-Turbo Plus. Other than that, this exciting kart comes with two courses where you can double the bonus. Also, Koopa Clown has six secondary tracks.

5. Yellow Taxi

yellow taxi mario kart tour

Even though Yellow Taxi is easy to unlock, this reliable kart is also one of the best in Mario Kart Tour. The main reason for such a classification comes from a wide array of points-boosting courses. In other words, Yellow Taxi can improve the bonus points on as many as five favored courses and nine secondary ones! For that reason, even beginners could be spending a lot of time in this classic-looking taxi. On top of that, Yellow Taxi offers a great special ability – the Jump Boost Plus skill.

Warship is one of the new karts in the game and it was added as a part of the Halloween Tour. As the name suggests, this kart resembles a pirate ship. Yet, the only thing that this vessel will steal is the massive number of points. In other words, Warship has two favored bonus-boosting courses. To be precise, you could double the points on the Ghost Valley 1R and the Neo Bowser City. When it comes to special abilities, this kart comes equipped with Mini-Turbo Plus.

7. Landship

landship mario kart tour

In a way, Landship and Warship are virtually the same vehicles. To be precise, their design is similar as well as their driving performances. Yet, the Landship has a lower score because of its lower number of favored courses. To clarify, this kart comes with three favored tracks and only two secondary ones. Even so, Landship is a decent kart, and it was added to the library of vehicles as a part of the Tokyo Tour.

8. DK Jumbo

Who would’ve thought that a wooden barrel can be a good racing kart? Well, Donkey Kong’s favorite ride can leave the opponents in the dust. DK Jumbo also arrived in the package for the Tokyo Tour, and this kart belongs to the B tier. Either way, players can double the bonuses on four favored tracks. Also, they can increase the bonus points by x1.5 on five different courses. On top of that, DK Jumbo also offers an awesome Jumbo Boost Plus.

cloud 9 mario kart tour

Driving the lovely-looking Cloud 9 will make you feel like you are floating around in the proverbial cloud nine. In other words, this cute kart can offer solid speed and great acceleration. In addition, this white cloud will double your points on three courses. Likewise, it comes with as many as six secondary courses. When it comes to the special ability, Cloud 9 comes with the dynamic Jump Boost Plus. Needless to say, this power-up can extend the duration of the bonus period as well as the number of points earned.

10. Turbo Yoshi

Yoshi is one of the most popular characters in the Mario Kart series. Well, he is the favorite driver for many players in Mario Kart Tour as well. In a way, Turbo Yoshi is much similar to the green dinosaur. This friendly-looking kart can provide you with the Jump Boost Plus as the specialty. Other than that, Turbo Yoshi comes with three favored courses and six secondary ones. For instance, the best tracks for Turbo Yoshi are Dino Dino Jungle or the Yoshi Circuit.

11. Pipe Buggy

pipe buggy mario kart tour

The next entry on our list of the best Mario Kart Tour karts is the vehicle that provides great handling on all types of terrain. In fact, Pipe Buggy does not only look good, but it offers impressive driving performance. Yet, a somewhat disappointing special ability is the reason why this kart did not end up higher on the list. To be precise, Pipe Buggy comes with the Slipstream Plus as its specialty skill. Also, this kart has only one favored course and four secondary tracks.

12. Daytripper

In a way, Daytripper is a decent kart, which can help you collect a lot of points. Nonetheless, this fancy chariot looks better than it behaves on the racetrack. In other words, this one of those karts that do not provide a lot of value to the player. To clarify, Daytripper comes with a weak Dash Panel Plus special ability. However, one of the biggest benefits of using this royal chariot is the fact that it has seven courses as secondary favorites.

13. Ghost Ride

ghost ride mario kart tour

Many players agree that Ghost Ride is the worst new kart in Mario Kart Tour. Like the previous entry on our list, this kart may look great, but we should never judge a book by its cover. So, if we take a look at the driving capabilities of the Ghost Ride, we will notice a lack of useful features. To be precise, this kart relies on the weak Rocket Start Plus to boost the starting speed of the driver. Also, Ghost Ride comes with three bonus-boosting courses and four secondary ones.

14. Pipe Frame

As a default kart in the game, Pipe Frame will meet you at the start of your journey through the world of Mario Kart Tour. Yet, this kart is only good for beginners and novice players. As soon as you get the chance, move on to a better vehicle. Luckily, the game will provide you with various methods for earning a new car. When it comes to the Pipe Frame, this kart comes with the Slipstream Plus special ability. Also, Pipe Frame has two favored courses and six secondary tracks.

15. Mushmellow

mushmellow mario kart tour

Similar to Pipe Frame, the cute-looking Mushmellow will be with you at the early stages in the game. As such, this kart can be a great option for learning the commands and mastering the basics of the game. Later on, you will need better karts. Because it does not provide significant value to the player, Mushmellow is probably the worst kart in Mario Kart Tour. Not even its Jump Boost Plus special ability can take Mushmellow higher up the list. Admittedly, this kart comes with two bonus-doubling courses and three secondary tracks.

There you go, this ends our Mario Kart Tour karts tier list with the best and worst karts in the game. Of course, if you think that some other kart should make this list, feel free to drop us a comment!

Mario Kart Tour Item Tier List – The Best Special Items in Mario Kart Tour

In addition to the Mario Kart item staples from past games like the Green Shell and Banana, Mario Kart Tour has special items that are unique to certain characters. These special items have powerful effects, and when used right, they can help you secure a win! Today, we’ll look at the best special items in the game with our Mario Kart Tour item tier list!

Mario Kart Tour Item Tier List

mario kart tour tier list

The Coin Box will spew out a flurry of coins in front of you in bursts. Since Coins and combos are the key to getting really high scores in Mario Kart Tour , it’s no mystery why the Coin Box is frequently seen as the best item in all of Mario Kart Tour .

mario kart tour tier list

Lucky 7 spawns a Green Shell, Red Shell, Banana Peel, Mushroom, Blooper, Super Horn, and a Bob-omb around you. The versatility of Lucky 7 makes it an incredibly valuable item, allowing you to approach opponents offensively and shield yourself from attacks.

Boomerang Flower

mario kart tour tier list

The Boomerang Flower spins around in a frontal cone, damaging any racers in front of you. It can hit multiple foes, but it can also pick up any nearby Coins it passes by!

Giant Banana

mario kart tour tier list

The Giant Banana needs no introduction, as you’ve probably experienced first-hand why these behemoths are so good. Giant Bananas are incredibly difficult to avoid when placed just right, and they split into smaller bananas when hit, leaving even more obstacles for your opponents to avoid.

Triple Bananas

mario kart tour tier list

The Triple Bananas have always been a solid item option, but with the recent buff, they’re even better now!

Related | How to Get Pauline (Rose) in Mario Kart Tour

The Dash Ring is always going to be a contentious item, but we honestly think that it does more good than bad. The Dash Ring spawns multiple blue rings in front of you, giving you a short speed boost with every ring you drive through. The catch is that other opponents can use them as well, but we think the item is too fun to pass up!

The Super Bell functions just like the Super Horn, except that it lets out three shockwaves with short intervals between. You can absolutely wreck a large group of racers with this, and there’s a good chance any counterattacks they might be hiding up their sleeves will be thwarted by the other shockwaves.

Bowser’s Shell

One of the best forward-throwing items in the game, Bowser’s Shell is a massive shell that can demolish anything in its path. It sticks to the center of the road while moving forward, and it’ll curve towards racers in an attempt to crush them.

Triple Mushrooms

The Triple Mushrooms are pretty straightforward. There’s never a time where three free boosts are useless!

Yoshi’s Egg

Functions like a Red Shell, but bursts into random items when it hits an opponent. You can hit an opponent, then grab a Mushroom that drops out for a powerful combo.

Birdo’s Egg

Functions like Yoshi’s Egg, but the items come out the other way.

Double Bob-ombs

Regular Bob-ombs, but two of them? Don’t mind if we do! Bob-ombs are strong projectiles since they explode and can hit nearby racers.

Fires off an ice ball that freeze opponents on contact. While this doesn’t immediately spin them out like a normal Fire Flower, the freezing effect can completely screw over unsuspecting victims.

The Super Leaf is too disruptive to be useful. You can collect Coins and attack players, but every time you perform the attack you’re interrupting drifts, often making you drop combos. The range is incredibly short too, so it’s hard to recommend the Super Leaf.

Fire Flower

The Fire Flower shoots out three fireballs forward, similar to the Triple Green Shells.

Triple Green Shells

The Triple Green Shells can be used for offense or defense. Oddly enough, you throw all three Green Shells at once, which makes them a bit less versatile.

Mushroom Cannon

The Mushroom Cannon spews out Mushrooms at a rapid rate in front of you. You can then drive over them to get a short speed boost, but like the Dash Ring, your opponents can also benefit from these. The reason we rank the Dash Ring higher is that they’re much easier to get through, and there’s less of a chance you’ll shoot a Mushroom right onto an opponent.

Hammers function like Red Shells, but you need to be very close to your opponent in order for them to seek out enemies.

Bob-omb Cannon

The Bob-omb Cannon shoots out Bob-ombs in front of you at a rapid pace. These Bob-ombs explode upon contact, unlike the regular Bob-ombs, but that makes them a bit harder to use.

Giga Bob-omb

The Giga Bob-omb bounces around for a while before exploding. The explosion radius is much bigger than the regular Bob-omb, but these things are really hard to aim because of the bounce factor.

Banana Barrels

The Banana equivalent of the Bob-omb Cannon. Sure, spewing Bananas everywhere is pretty fun, but placing them strategically is much better.

The Heart protects you from a single item, which is nice, but it lacks the absorption factor from the past Mario Kart games.

Arguably the worse item in the game, the Bubble will protect you from items and give you a small speed boost. The problem is that the bubble pretty much takes all control away from you, so you won’t be able to generate any combo points.

And there you have it—a list of what we think the best special items are in Mario Kart Tour . We’re sure that you have your own opinions and thoughts about the items, so please let us know in the comments below what you think.

Mario Kart Tour character list: All racers listed and how to unlock new characters explained

All racers, their course and item boosts, and how to unlock them.

Mario Kart Tour characters offer a series of familiar faces for those who have played Mario Kart on consoles or handhelds over the years.

That said, this mobile version has a few new additions - such as Pauline and Musician Mario - as well as changes to how each character choice can give you an advantage.

Instead of simply slotting neatly into light, medium and heavy racers, these characters have their own rarities and a special skill - which you can pick up from Item Boxes on the track - and can pick up more Item Boxes depending on the course they race on.

This all means having a range of Mario Kart Tour characters at your disposal will give you an advantage on whatever course the game throws your way.

Latest update (October 9th): Added 14 (!) new characters to our list with the arrival of the Tokyo tour , including Rosalina, Peach (Kimono), Mario (Hakama), the Koopalings and more.

How to unlock characters in Mario Kart Tour

Unlike the handheld and console versions, you unlock Mario Kart Tour characters a little differently. At first, you only have access to a single character, and you have to unlock the rest through various means.

The Mario Kart Tour character unlock methods are:

mario kart tour tier list

  • Tour Gifts, which unlock as you progress through the time-limited tours. These are set and require Tour progression to unlock.
  • The Store, as part of Sets or highlighted characters in the Daily Selects area. These are set and require either Coins (Daily Selects) or real-world money (Sets) to unlock.
  • From Pipes, a gacha system where you 'spin' for a change at unlocking characters, among other items. This requires Rubies (Mario Kart Tour's premium currency, earned in-game and purchased with real-world money) to use.

If you're after specific Mario Kart Tour characters, your options are unfortunately limited - it's either a case of waiting for them to appear in the Store or as a Tour Gift reward, otherwise you have to try your luck by spending Rubies in pipes.
