Historic Mayowood Mansion Tour!

Dr. Charles H. Mayo, co-founder of the internationally renowned Mayo Clinic, met his eventual wife Edith Graham Mayo, a pioneering nurse anesthetist, as St. Marys Hospital opened in 1889, and together they created the Mayowood Estate just outside Rochester, Minnesota, between 1910 and 1939.

The centerpieces of the estate are the thirty-eight room Historic Mayowood Mansion, affectionately referred to as the “Big House” by the family, and surrounding ornamental and aquatic landscape gardens.  The mansion itself is situated on a secluded hillside of striking natural beauty in the hardwood forest above the Zumbro River.

Dr Charlie and Edith built the Mayowood Mansion in 1911, and over the decades extended the estate’s reach to more than 3,000 acres that included a man-made recreational lake, greenhouses, cottages, and eight distinct working farm operations.  Their eldest son, Dr. Charles W. (Chuck) Mayo and his wife, Alice, made many improvements to the home until their deaths in the late 1960s.  Mayowood is filled with elegant furnishings, artifacts, and  artwork from both generations’ extensive travels.

The mansion has largely been maintained as it was when last occupied by the Mayo family and is used to interpret the lives of this famous Twentieth Century medical family.  Ownership of the Mayowood Mansion was transferred to Mayo Clinic in 2013.  In a collaborative project, Mayo Clinic, the History Center of Olmsted County and Rochester Master Gardeners are restoring Mayowood with enhancements to the house and grounds that continue the Mayo family’s tradition of hospitality.

The mansion is still open to the public on scheduled tour days, from March through October . In November and December the house is elegantly and festively decorated for the holidays, and open to the public for annual Christmas tours.

Your group’s guided tour of this fascinating historical treasure — Rochester’s premier historic house tour — will last approximately one hour!

9 Things To Discover When Visiting the Historic Mayowood Mansion

mayowood house tour

The historic Mayowood Mansion in Rochester—built in 1911 by Doctor Charles Mayo, co-founder of the Mayo Clinic—was recently restored to its original glory and will re-open this weekend to the public after being closed for extensive renovations.

On Sunday, October 5, the Friends of Mayowood will host an open house at the mansion, in addition to a Chrysanthemum Show . The show was an annual tradition of the Mayo family. In the 1920s and ‘30s, tens of thousands of people visited the mansion to enjoy locally-grown varieties named for the Mayo children. This year, Mayowood will feature  more than 1,400 chrysanthemums of 43 varieties in a wide range of colors, as well as the Mayo Clinic Flower of Hope™, named in honor of the Mayo Clinic Sesquicentennial.

As we get closer to the holidays, make sure to stop back between November 7 and December 13 for the  Mayowood holiday open house . See the home decorated for the holidays as it would have been when the Mayo family was living there. Tour guides will be on hand to add anecdotes and answer questions.

Touring the mansion is the perfect opportunity to get a glimpse into the lives of Dr. Charlie and his wife Edith, while discovering stories behind the home’s decor.

Here are nine things to look for while touring the Mayowood Mansion:

1) A Steinway baby grand piano

Dr. Charlie had a passion for boats. Edith wanted a baby grand piano. Dr. Charlie was showing Edith his new boat and asked what they should name it, when Edith icily replied “How about Baby Grand.” A Steinway Baby Grand was delivered a few days later.

2) 13 large gilt mirrors

On one of Dr. Charlie and Edith’s trips to Mexico, they purchased 13 large gilt mirrors and had them shipped up the Mississippi River to Minnesota. Five of them remain in the home today.

3) A double rocker used by the Mayo brothers

A double rocker is located in the study of the home. The Mayo brothers spent many hours sitting side by side in this rocker when they lived next door to each other on what was  College Avenue, now 4th street Southwest, in Rochester. The rocker sat on the front porch of Dr. Charlie’s former home.

4) An autographed Betty Crocker cookbook

There is a Betty Crocker cookbook on display in the kitchen of the home. The inscription is written to Alice Mayo and was signed by Betty Crocker in 1956.

5) Two large, framed Audubon bird prints

In the gallery of the home are two large framed Audubon bird prints. Dr. Charlie felt it was very important to teach his children about nature and the outdoors and used these prints to help them identify birds they had seen on the family’s 3,000 acres of land.

6) Stair railings from the 1914 Mayo Clinic building

The renovation of the mansion includes a new addition, complete with original stair railings from the 1914 Mayo Clinic building. The 1914 building was built on Dr. Charlie’s birth site, the home of his parents, after the home was torn down. When the 1914 building was demolished and the current Sieben’s building was built on its site, someone had the foresight to save the railings. They were stored in Mayo Clinic’s warehouse for approximately 30 years. In 2014 the 100-year-old railings were installed in Mayowood.

7) The restored terrace in front of Mayowood

The terrace on the front of Mayowood was completely rebuilt. The process included drilling 95 pylons (some up to 65-feet deep) which were attached to the bedrock, securing the terrace and the home to the hillside. Molds of the balusters, stairs, and other unique architectural features were recreated. The grand staircase is again structurally safe and a magnificent feature on the front of the home overlooking the gardens, hillside, and the Zumbro River.

8) 1,400 Minnesota Hardy Chrysanthemums

For the Chrysanthemum show and open house, over 1,400 Minnesota Hardy Chrysanthemums were planted around the home. Over 40 varieties are featured. In addition to the show, the first floor of the home will be open and attendees will be able to take a walking tour through the home and grounds. Guides will be on site to share information and answer questions.

The mum show revives a tradition started by Dr. Charlie and Edith in 1920. It was open to the public and was held for one week. Newspaper articles from 1924 tell of 60,000 chrysanthemums in bloom and attendance of 14,00 people. It was the largest show of its kind held between New York City and Tacoma, Washington. Money raised from the show was donated to charity.

9) The Mayo Clinic Flower of Hope™

In addition to the mums, the Mayo Clinic Flower of Hope™, named in honor of the Mayo Clinic Sesquicentennial, will be on display. This brilliant yellow flower, a newly developed hybrid coreopsis, expresses the spirit of hope and healing which, in turn, supports the Mayo Clinic’s primary value, “The needs of the patient come first.”

Other not-to-miss features of the home and garden:

  • An ice house
  • A bell used to call the children to dinner
  • The Wee Gnome
  • Helen Keller’s signature
  • Waterford chandelier
  • A tea house
  • The children’s playhouse
  • The Picnic Tree (Before the house was built, the Mayos’ favorite place for picnicking was under a large oak tree. The tree still stands in the courtyard.)
  • The root cellars
  • The children’s dinner table

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Tour Ree and Ladd's New House!

The Drummonds have a new home on the ranch. Take a look around...

The house where Ree and Ladd raised their kids was the same house where Ladd grew up with his brothers—and it was full of happy memories. But by 2021, when everyone but Todd, their youngest, had moved out, the couple knew it was time to make a change. Foundation problems, plumbing woes and water damage plagued the 50-year-old house, so they said (a tearful!) goodbye to the old place and built a new home in the exact same spot. At the top of their wish list: a big kitchen (Ree) and lots of windows (Ladd), so they could see out in all directions. Ree also wanted to include some Spanish ranch elements, including arched doorways and exposed wood beams.

ree drummond house tour

Tulsa designer Sherri Duvall—who teamed up with her husband, architect John Duvall, on the project—worked with Ree on a charcoal, blue and rust palette, with pops of golden yellow throughout the house. Sherri helped Ree and Ladd customize the spaces that were meant just for them: a mudroom for Ladd and a gorgeous new office for Ree. Now that the two have settled in, there’s just one thing left to do: Make new memories!

"Through compelling stories of overcoming adversity, heartfelt anecdotes about embracing the growth that comes out of tragedy, and a wealth of knowledge about the world of animal rescue , Lee captivates audiences and encourages them to join the movement to be their best self," read a description of the tour on the Asher House Facebook page.

Asher spoke in Boca Raton at Lynn University in November.

Want to adopt a shelter do? Animal rescue icon Lee Asher offers advice, tips for prospective owners

Who is Lee Asher of 'My Pack Life' and what is The Asher House?

Asher, 35, starred in a 2022 reality TV series called "My Pack Life."

Today, Asher cares for an estimated 200 dogs, cats, horses, llamas and other animals at three privately run Asher House sanctuaries in Oregon.

He shares the stories of the animals he rescues in emotion-packed videos accessed by 6.3 million people on Facebook and 1.6 million followers each on Instagram and TikTok plus 593,000 subscribers on YouTube.

A Florida sanctuary? Animal rescue icon Lee Asher plans to expand his sanctuary concept across the U.S.

How did Lee Asher get into the animal rescue business?

Asher struggled with severe attention deficit disorder as a youth growing up in South Florida.

During a recent appearance at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Asher spoke of desperation "to fit in" and feeling "very different" from his peers whom he watched succeed and thrive. The struggles worsened, and after a serious bullying incident, Asher was forced to change schools.

At about the age of 12, he said, he began visiting a Broward County animal shelter where he found consolation, and kinship, with the dogs and cats in the kennels.

"When I was able to be with the dogs, and they would go from being scared in a corner to tail-wagging and me petting them through the kennel and I could see them happy; seeing them happy just completely took all my pain away," Asher recalled.

Go beneath the streets on this tour of the spectacular, mind-bending Moscow Metro! Be awed by architecture and spot the Propaganda , then hear soviet stories from a local in the know. Finish it all up above ground, looking up to Stalins skyscrapers, and get the inside scoop on whats gone on behind those walls.

Know More about this tour

We begin our Moscow tour beneath the city, exploring the underground palace of the Moscow Metro. From the Square of Revolution station, famous for its huge statues of soviet people (an armed soldier, a farmer with a rooster, a warrior, and more), we’ll move onto some of the most significant stations, where impressive mosaics, columns, and chandeliers will boggle your eyes! Moreover, these stations reveal a big part of soviet reality — the walls depict plenty of Propaganda , with party leaders looking down from images on the walls. Your local guide will share personal stories of his/her family from USSR times, giving you insight into Russia’s complicated past and present. Then we’re coming back up to street level, where we’ll take a break and refuel with some Russian fast food: traditional pancakes, called bliny. And then, stomachs satiated, we are ready to move forward! We’ll take the eco-friendly electric trolleybus, with a route along the Moscow Garden Ring. Used mainly by Russian babushkas(grannies) during the day, the trolleybus hits peak hours in the mornings and evenings, when many locals use it going to and from their days. Our first stop will be the Aviator’s House, one of Stalin’s Seven Sisters, followed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs — and you’ll hear the legends of what has gone on inside the walls. Throughout your Moscow tour, you’ll learn curious facts from soviet history while seeing how Russia exists now, 25 years after the USSR.

Milwaukee-area home tours for 2024 showcase functional design

mayowood house tour

"Everything old is new again" is an adage that suggests the wisdom of the past often can inspire new ideas. Touring remodeled and historic homes may supply creative solutions for your current home or home-building dream. Local organizations and trade groups have scheduled events to assist you in finding homes to tour. Here is a roundup of home tours in Milwaukee and the surrounding communities this year.

Tour this house designed by Milwaukee architects Willis and Lillian Lennhouts on the 2024 Spaces & Traces tour.

Historic Milwaukee Spaces & Traces 2024

Historic Milwaukee Inc. presents its 42nd annual Spaces & Traces tour from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4, featuring mid-century modern homes in the metro Milwaukee area. The tour offers a look into restored and renovated homes designed by architects using a functional approach to design, characterized by a low profile and natural materials.

Julia Griffith, program director for Historic Milwaukee, noted this is a departure from past tours: "While we typically feature a particular neighborhood, 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of Historic Milwaukee as an organization. We were founded in 1974, when the mid-century modern style was popular, and we are thrilled to highlight these unique properties for our event."

The tour will feature single-family homes designed by John Randal McDonald, Joseph Godkin, Willis and Lillian Leenhouts and others, including a few local students of Frank Lloyd Wright. Many properties include original details like built-ins, stacked stone fireplaces and planters, old-growth mahogany paneling, cork floors and bathroom fixtures and tiles. Alterations have been done with sensitivity to the design and finishes, enhancing the vision of the architect but making these homes more comfortable for modern family life. The guided tour includes access to eight properties and a brochure with maps. The tour is recommended for ages 12 and up. Tickets are $30 for members, $40 for non-members, and can be purchased online at historicmilwaukee.org .

If you enjoy greeting visitors and fellow home enthusiasts, consider volunteering for the event. Historic Milwaukee is seeking volunteers to help lead tours of featured properties, check tickets and answer questions. Each property is staffed throughout the day and volunteers share more about the history and inhabitants with tour attendees. Shifts are three hours long and training is provided. As a benefit, volunteers may purchase a ticket for $15 to attend the event. To volunteer, sign up at the event page website.

NARI 2024 Tour of Remodeled Homes

This tourwill be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18 and 19. It showcases 10 projects that range in budget from $100,000 to $600,000 and are located from Lake Michigan to Lake Country. New this year, the tour will showcase a “resort-style” backyard with a 20-foot by 40-foot in-ground pool, outdoor kitchen, fire pit, paver staircase and patio. The homes featured highlight kitchen remodels and additions, “whole home” remodels, and first-floor remodels. The tour allows visitors to explore how kitchens can be expanded to provide additional seating and a walk-in pantry, or how sunrooms and basements can be transformed into play spaces and entertainment areas. See updated mudrooms, garages, and luxury master baths, with opportunities to talk with designers and view before-and-after images of the remodeling projects. Tickets are $20 and can only be purchased online at naritourhomes.com .

Historic Concordia Neighbors

The annual summer Historic Home Tour is set for June 15. The neighborhood schedules a full day of activities including tours of restored Victorian mansions, garden tours, food and community entertainment. Historic Concordia stretches from 27th Street to 35th Street, and Wisconsin Avenue to Highland Boulevard. For more information, see  www.hcni.org .

MBA Parade of Homes

Tour a Striking New York Home That’s Not Your Typical Brooklyn Town House

By Sam Cochran

Photography by Kevin Scott

The constraints of a Brooklyn town house renovation might, at first glance, seem rigid and prescriptive—stacked floors, each long and narrow, bound by four exterior walls, the front one often landmarked. Inside, the primary challenge is universal: how to best bring light into that interior core. But as the architecture firm Leroy Street Studio was recently reminded, the idiosyncrasies of this classic building type can be as varied and compelling as its inhabitants.

Six years ago, the Leroy Street team was approached by Jeanne and Dennis Masel, a creative and philanthropic couple who had recently purchased a historic home in Park Slope. Originally designed by architect Fred W. Eisenla, the 1910 property hews to the British Regency style, with bowed windows, a limestone façade, a central entrance, and a street-level stoop. This was not, in other words, your typical brownstone.

Nor were the Masels your typical clients. In describing their vision for the home, Dennis, a free-spirited entrepreneur, musician, and film producer, is quick to invoke rock ‘n’ roll and fun as guiding principles. Jeanne, the founder of Art for Change , brought her own yen for whimsy and adventure, not to mention a dynamic trove of contemporary works. “Our architectural ambition had to match her commitment to art,” says Leroy Street partner Shawn Watts. “The house was already beautiful on the street but it didn't have the spatial complexity that the clients needed for their collection.”

So he made a bold pitch: Why not completely reimagine the rear half of the house, replacing three levels with two so as to yield high ceilings and ample wall space? Whereas the lower half of that pair now contains the kitchen, dining area, and sunken family room, the upper comprises the formal living room and library. “That was our big move,” Watts explains of the staggered floor plates, noting that “by making this surgical intervention we then had to reunite the front and back.”

To do so they created a sculptural but functional staircase, with fluid curves that shift to reveal a skylight only upon ascent. Its glow, however, is felt throughout the house, fulfilling the elusive promise of a bright core. Sun, all the while, bathes the family room and library thanks to sliding window walls. “It feels like you are in the garden,” says Watts. Those blurred indoor/outdoor lines continue to the primary suite, which has a terrace of its own, as well as to the penthouse addition, which can open up to fresh air on two sides.

Art, of course, remains the focus. The mud room, accessible via a street-facing side entrance, was designed specifically for a circular work by Takashi Murakami. Framed by an archway, it now pops against magenta walls—a hue echoed in the Tracey Emin neon piece at the base of the staircase. Elsewhere are works by past collaborators with Art For Change, which partners with nonprofits to raise funds through the sale of prints. Those include the dining area’s paintings by Danielle Orchard and Hyegyeong G. Choi, and the primary bath’s site-specific mosaic by Summer Wheat. “We talked a lot about having the unexpected around each corner,” Dennis reflects of the overall mix, which remains in flux as the couple rotates pieces in and out of storage.

The decor stays true to that spirit of surprise. Over the course of the project, furnishings evolved into a collaboration between Sybille Schneider, Leroy Street’s Director of Interior Design, and the textile maven Christine Van Der Hurd, a longtime friend of the clients whose vibrant fabrics informed the house’s punchy palette—from the staircase’s pink runner to the primary suite’s upholstered headboard and walls. The screening room, where Dennis regularly retreats to watch films for work, is especially bold, its ceiling slicked in high-gloss blue, complementing the geometric carpet. Like that color scheme, the surround sound is not for the faint of heart. After watching Top Gun: Maverick as a family, Dennis recalls the couple’s young daughter noting, “Daddy, I loved the way the room shook.”

Put simply, this place has verve. Which was precisely the couple’s hope as they set out to create a home that would inspire their young family of three. “This house has so many good spaces for reflection,” says Dennis, musing on days spent migrating from penthouse office to screening room to kitchen, a showstopper space he describes as “a dream I never dreamed I’d dream.” When he’s practicing the drums in the library, Jeanne can retreat to her bedroom workspace or else to that magical Summer Wheat tub, a source of continuous delight. Their daughter and her friends, meanwhile, will pack into the sunken family room or around the Pac-Man machine. “It’s all,” Dennis says, “designed for creativity.”

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).

Balmoral Castle

Tea and a tour of Balmoral Castle? That will set you back £150

For the first time visitors will be able to see areas of the Scottish castle used by Charles and Camilla – if they have deep pockets

Parts of Balmoral Castle used by the royal family will open to the public for the first time – for those who have deep pockets.

For £100 for an adult ticket – and an extra £50 for those wishing to partake of afternoon tea – guided summer tours of the castle in Aberdeenshire are being offered, limited to 40 people a day and in groups restricted to 10 people.

It is the first time since the castle’s completion in 1855 that visitors will be shown two dining rooms, the drawing room, the page’s lobby and the red corridor, where King Charles greeted Rishi Sunak.

The tour also includes access to the ballroom with a collection of Charles’s watercolour collection depicting scenery at Balmoral, Highgrove and Sandringham as well as a selection of outfits worn by Charles, Camilla, the late queen and Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Previous tours, which will continue, have been of the grounds and gardens with access to the castle itself limited to the ballroom.

The tours, from 1 July until 4 August, before the king and queen arrive for their annual break, are being run for a trial period so estate staff can judge how the fragile building copes with increased footfall.

The £150 a head price tag for tour and high tea makes it the most expensive royal residence for visitors wanting the exclusive experience.

Buckingham Palace, which has long been open to the public during the summer months, charges £95 for an exclusive guided tour away from the crowds, though general summer admission with the masses costs between £32 and £35. Afternoon tea is not included, but at the nearby Ritz, the “afternoon tea experience” costs from £64.

St James’s Palace, which started guided tours in 2022 limited to 30 people, costs £80 for an adult. At the cheaper end of royal residence visits, Windsor Castle offers general adult admission at £30 in advance, while Sandringham House in Norfolk costs £24 and the Castle of Mey, the queen’s mother’s former Scottish home, is £14.50.

The Balmoral Castle website said experienced guides on the interior tour “will take you on a historical journey through several of the beautiful rooms within Balmoral Castle”.

It adds: “Travel through time from the purchase of the Balmoral by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, through to present day, where you can see how rooms within the castle are used today.”

Susan Boyle Still Lives in This Adorable Scottish Cottage House from Childhood (VIDEO)

The  Britain's Got Talent  Season 3 finalist has been residing in the cozy place for all her life.

mayowood house tour

Susan Boyle has sure come a long way since wowing the world on  Britain's Got Talent   in 2009, but she has still managed to stay humble.

How to Watch

Watch the Season 19 premiere of America’s Got Talent Tuesday, May 28 at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock .

In 2021, the singer gave  OK!  a tour of her darling childhood home in Scotland, which she still lives in today. Read all about it, below.

Susan Boyle's childhood house in Scotland

To start us off, Boyle showed us the lovely grand piano room with pride.

''That's a giggle for a start, cause I can't even do scales. I'm only learning at the moment, though. It's a bit like driving a car. It takes a bit of time,'' she told the cameras.

Then came the kitchen, which was recently revamped. ''You got to have a mess before you have a palace, so this is the end result. It was a tiny kitchen before. There was a big round table and four chairs, and a cooker. You really had to watch what you were doing.''

Next up was the living room, which gave off a super homey feel, and was also redone with new walls and flooring. ''With me being away all the time, you tend to overlook [certain] things,'' Boyle said.

Upstairs, we got to see Boyle's very own room that she grew up in.

''There's a bit of a history attached to this house. There used to be nine of us in it,'' Boyle said.

Then, we catch a glimpse of a sign that said ''Dream'' hanging on her window.

''That's always my motto, to keep your dreams,'' Boyle said with a smile. Looks like that mindset sure paid off well for her!

Boyle then explained that she shared the room with two of her sisters, the late Bridie (who died in 2015) and Cathy. Another sister, Mary, got married and ''left the nest'' years earlier.

''I used to have my record player in the corner,'' she said sentimentally, reflecting on her surroundings.

Susan Boyle performs during the Donny & Marie variety show at the Flamingo Las Vegas October 17, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

''My humble abode. I've been here a lifetime now. Nearly 60 years,'' she proudly concluded the tour.

In an interview with  OK! , Boyle explained what drove her to purchase the house and stay with it, despite achieving massive fame .

"It’s to do with the memories of your house and your upbringing, you need to take stock of things and maybe see where you come from and where your roots lie," she told the outlet. "It’s best to be grounded and with your roots. It keeps you grounded and prevents you from saying things maybe you shouldn't say."

Scheana Shay's New House Renovations Are Under "Budget Review" by Brock Davies

"We are just getting started," the  Vanderpump Rules  dad shared of the backyard project at the new house he shares with Scheana Shay.

mayowood house tour

Scheana Shay ,  Brock Davies , and their daughter,  Summer Moon , just  moved into a new house in the Valley  after living in a Marina del Rey condo (as you can revisit in the video above). Recently, Brock has been hard at work turning their new house into a dream home, enlisting Summer to assist on an incredible project in their side yard.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on  Peacock . Catch up on the Bravo app .

We are floored by the big reveal as Brock shares an update on all the progress the  Vanderpump Rules   family has made thus far on their new home's changes!

Scheana Shay's new house getting updates from Brock Davies

On April 4, Brock hopped on his Instagram page to take a video of himself and Summer sitting outside in an area between his new house and the fence. The area, which Brock has been working on over the past few weeks after  he decided to take on the project himself , has been completely transformed with concrete paver steps and fresh astro turf.

In the aforementioned video, Brock and Summer went over the process they went through in creating the epic space as the proud dad gave a "budget review" of the project.

"You could definitely find some ways to save some money a.k.a. If you own a truck or even pre-purchase concrete pavers depending on your needs," Brock captioned the post, where he broke down what he spent on the materials ($567), turf ($585), U-Haul truck ($386), "base and recycle center," and labor. The project he noted took about 20 hours of labor.

"What would you like to see us do next?" Brock concluded in his caption.

Several Bravolebrities have shared their thoughts on Brock's updates, with  Summer House 's Kyle Cooke writing on the above post, "Love it BRO!!!!!" and his wife, Amanda Batula , also gushing about the daddy-daughter duo, "You guys matching is making my heart melt."

Brock Davies reveals more details about his home project

In addition to the above budget breakdown, Brock documented the entire process via his Instagram page, starting on March 20 with a trip to Lowe's and a video of him removing all the gravel from the area. "All right, we did a thing and bought a house, and now I'm back on the tools," he captioned the post.

Scheana Shay Reveals How Her Daughter, Summer Moon, Reacted to Their New House

Next up, Brock enlisted Summer Moon for more help as he poured the concrete to craft some sturdy stepping stones.

After finishing up his job of pouring concrete on Day 3 , Brock again called on Summer Moon for more help — in the most adorable Carhartt overalls, nonetheless! The pair measured and set up the astro turf around the concrete pavers, building "incredible memories" along the way.

On Day 5, Brock continued his process by nailing in the astro turf , and by Day 6, he and Summer worked together to take the remaining pieces of astro turf off to expose the concrete pavers.

Inside Scheana & Brock's New Home and Tour Their Backyard Oasis: "We Did a Thing" (PICS)

To show off the final result, Brock posted an edited video of himself in the pre-project gravel area to "trip and fall" into the finished side yard, which looked incredible. "We did it legends… first project down," Brock captioned the post, ostensibly teasing more home updates to come.

We can't wait to see more of Scheana and Brock's new house and renovation projects!

Rep. Neguse Visits Longmont, Tours Development of the City’s Microtransit System

Rep. Joe Neguse With City of Longmont Leaders

View additional photos HERE .

Lafayette, CO — Today, House Assistant Minority Leader Joe Neguse visited with local leaders in Longmont to learn more about the City’s plans to construct a regional transit system. Rep. Neguse secured $1,000,000 in Community Project Funding for the project as part of a series of government funding bills signed into law last month. The Congressman was joined by Longmont Mayor Joan Peck, City Transportation Planning Manager Phil Greenwald, and Assistant City Manager Joni Marsh, as well as members of the city staff. The group gathered in the Civic Center mall area and took a walk down Main Street, stopping to tour the Transit Ready Development and the historic train depot.

“It was great to join leaders across Longmont to hear about the City’s plan for a regional transit system. Public transit helps connect our communities, and I am proud to have secured funding that will invest in our local transportation infrastructure and help make this project a reality,” said Assistant Leader Neguse.

The Longmont Microtransit System will improve the quality of life for residents, workers, and visitors across the community by connecting these individuals with expanded access to everyday essentials like grocery stores, schools, health care facilities, and more. The $1 million in federal funding secured by Rep. Neguse will reduce barriers to transit and transportation for residents across the city. Learn more about the project here .
