Pitbull has released his first new single of 2022.
Can't Stop Us Now features country-rock superstar Zac Brown, and marks the first collaboration between the two artists. Uplifting and energetic, the track combines elements of pop, Latin, country, and rock musc for a thumping, genre-smashing underdog anthem.
An accompanying video is expected to arrive very soon, with the song set to feature on Pitbull's forthcoming 12th studio album, 'Timeless', due out later in 2022.

With his trademark shout of "Dale!" and reggaeton-infused party pop, bilingual rapper and producer Pitbull made a steady ascent through the Miami hip-hop scene before dominating the mainstream charts in the late 2000s and 2010s with dancefloor-filling hits including U.S. Top Ten singles "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)," "I Like It," "Give Me Everything," "Timber," "Feel This Moment," and "Time of Our Lives." Early-2010s efforts Planet Pit, Global Warming, and Globalization were all certified platinum, while his 2015 Spanish-language LP Dale earned Pitbull his first Grammy Award. The remainder of the 2010s was spent churning out Spanish-language hits, such as the multi-platinum single "Dame Tu Cosita," as well as "No Lo Trates" and "Me Quedare Contigo" from 2019's Libertad 548, and 2022's "Café Con Leche." In 2023, he paired with Lil John for "Jumpin."
Born Armando Christian Perez, the future "Mr. 305" was raised by first-generation Cuban immigrant parents who didn't let their son forget about his culture. They required him to memorize the works of Cuban poet José Martí, and Pitbull understood the power of words right away. Southern acts like Poison Clan and Luther Campbell were early influences, but as he grew up, the young rapper got turned on to the G-funk sound of the West Coast and the New York City point of view Nas brought to the game. When the Southern-flavored party rap called crunk took over urban radio, he decided it was time to seek stardom and began appearing on Miami mixtapes. A meeting with Irv Gotti resulted in nothing, but soon Luther Campbell called on the rapper to appear on his "Lollipop" single. It brought Pitbull to the attention of the Diaz Brothers management team, who introduced the rapper to the king of crunk, Lil Jon. A Pitbull freestyle landed on Lil Jon's platinum-selling Kings of Crunk album in 2002, and the rapper's "Oye" track appeared on the 2 Fast 2 Furious soundtrack in 2003. Ready to take it all the way to the top, Pitbull unleashed his debut full-length, M.I.A.M.I., in 2004 on the TVT label, with the Lil Jon-produced single "Culo" leading the way.
Soon Pitbull was making guest appearances on tracks by everyone from the Ying Yang Twins to Elephant Man. The 2005 compilation Money Is Still a Major Issue collected the best of these collaborations along with some remixes and unreleased tracks. In 2006, the single "Bojangles" prepared fans for his next effort, El Mariel. As the album landed on the shelves it was announced that his next release would be entirely in Spanish and titled The Boatlift. When the end product arrived in 2007, it was an album mostly in English, introduced by the single "Go Girl."
Two years later he released Rebelution, a full-length filled with slick club cuts including the hits "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)" and "Hotel Room Service." Featuring the hit single "Bon Bon," his all-Spanish-language album Armando followed in 2010. In 2011, his Planet Pit album arrived, featuring the singles "Hey Baby (Drop It to the Floor)" and "Give Me Everything." Both the singles collection Original Hits and I Am Armando -- a "reloaded" version of Armando -- arrived in 2012 along with his seventh studio effort, Global Warming. The latter album featured the hits "Back in Time" and "Feel This Moment," and when a deluxe reissue appeared in 2013, the single "Timber," with special guest Kesha, was added to the track list.
In early 2014, Pitbull released the single "Wild Wild Love," which featured vocals from the girl group G.R.L. and debuted at number 30 on the Billboard pop chart. A few months later, he announced the release of an eighth studio album, Globalization, which appeared near the end of 2014 and featured Chris Brown, Sean Paul, Dr. Luke, and other guests. No less than four singles reached the Top 40, including "Wild Wild Love," "Fireball," "Time of Our Lives," and "Fun." Dale, his second Spanish-language album, followed in 2015, the same year that he launched his satellite radio station, Pitbull's Globalization, on the Sirius XM network. The effort was extremely successful, scooping up the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards. It was Pitbull's first Grammy Award win, and unsurprisingly, it reached number one on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart.
The following year saw a return to the English language for the rapper with his tenth studio release, Climate Change. It featured high-profile collaborators like Robin Thicke, Joe Perry, Flo Rida, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Derulo, Stephen Marley, Leona Lewis, and R. Kelly, among others. The single "Messin' Around," featuring Iglesias, hit the pop charts leading up to the album's release in March 2017. Later that year, Pitbull issued his second compilation of solo hits from 2009's Rebelution to 2014's Globalization on the aptly titled Greatest Hits. The collection featured two new songs: "Jungle" with Stereotypes, E-40, and Abraham Mateo, and "Locas" with longtime collaborator Lil Jon.
In 2018, Pitbull contributed a pair of tracks to the Gotti soundtrack: "So Sorry" and "Amore" with Leona Lewis. That year, he also recruited Theron Theron for "Free Free Free" and appeared on Claudia Leitte's "Carnaval," Enrique Iglesias' "Move to Miami," and Arash's "Goalie Goalie." In 2019, he collaborated with Papayo and Ky-Mani Marley for "Yayo," along with "No Lo Trates" with Daddy Yankee and Natti Natasha. In early December, Pitbull issued the full-length studio outing Libertad 548. Co-produced by the artist, IAmChino, and Jorge Gomez with Jimmy Joker, the set was inspired by the memory of Pitbull's late father. In a social media post he wrote: "The ...album title represents the number of people my father, Armando Sr., led to freedom during the Mariel boatlift in Cuba in 1980. The album cover is a photo of him taken during this time; I was born just a few months later. The best gift Armando Sr. and my mother ever gave me was freedom." Libertad 548 included the collaborative single with Natasha, "Tell Me Again" featuring Prince Royce and Ludacris, and "Get Ready" with country star Blake Shelton. It peaked at number 12 on Billboard's Top Latin Albums chart. More tracks followed in 2021, including "Cantare" featuring Lenier and "Ten Cuidado" with Farruko, IAmChino, El Alfa, and Omar Courtz. Pitbull kicked off 2022 with the party-starting Latin single "Café con Leche" and started 2023 with the AYYBO- and Ero808-assisted "Right or Wrong (Hypnosis)." More singles arrived in 2023, including "Mami," "Jumpin" with Lil John, and "Freak 54 (Freak Out)" with Nile Rodgers, all of which heralded Pitbull's 12th album release Trackhouse. ~ David Jeffries & Neil Z. Zac Brown Band became stars in the late 2000s on the strength of the number one country hits "Chicken Fried" and "Toes," songs that seemed like throwbacks to the country-rock of the '70s. For a while, ZBB continued in that vein, scoring another breezy, beachy hit with "Knee Deep" and underscoring their '70s singer/songwriter heritage with the warm, burnished ballad "Colder Weather," but soon the group proved themselves to be a restless jam band, as eager to crank up the amps as they were to ride a supple groove. This sense of musical adventure led Zac Brown Band to cut both a 2014 EP with Foo Fighters rocker Dave Grohl and to dive deep into pop music on 2019's The Owl, yet these creative instincts also helped them cultivate a loyal following who were happy to roll with these changes. In 2020 Brown released his debut solo LP The Controversy.
Born in Atlanta, Zac Brown grew up in the Lake Lanier region in the north Georgia mountains. Raised in a blended family -- he lived with his mother and his stepfather, who was a dentist -- Brown was drawn to music at an early age, learning to play his mother's guitar when he was eight. His taste was omnivorous, spanning pop, country, bluegrass, and rock, influences that manifested in his original material. Brown started playing these songs, along with selected covers, at coffee houses while he was a teenager. While he attended the University of West Georgia, he played concerts with growing frequency.
By 2002, Brown formed the initial version of the Zac Brown Band, who played regularly throughout the South. He founded his own label, Southern Ground (it was originally called Home Grown) in 2003, and his entrepreneurial endeavors didn't stop there. The following year, he and his father opened Zac's Place, a Lake Oconee restaurant that featured local music. It earned the attention of a developer, who bought the establishment; Brown channeled his proceeds into a tour bus and financing his first album, Home Grown, which appeared in 2004.
The Zac Brown Band continued to take shape over the course of 2004, with fiddle player/vocalist Jimmy De Martini joining a lineup that also featured drummer Marcus Petruska. Another member arrived in John Driskell Hopkins, a multi-instrumentalist who produced Home Grown; he joined the group as their bassist. Coy Bowles, a guitarist/pianist, became a permanent member of the Zac Brown Band in 2006, and not long afterward, the group signed to Live Nation Artists Records.
The Foundation, the major-label debut by Zac Brown Band, arrived in 2008. Live Nation Artists Records faltered not long after the release of The Foundation, but Atlantic picked up the band and the label's support helped their first single, the sun-kissed "Chicken Fried," reach number one on Country Airplay, a feat matched by three other singles from the record: "Toes," "Highway 20 Ride," and "Free." Additionally, "Whatever It Is" reached two on Country Airplay.
Shortly after the release of The Foundation, Petruska was replaced by Chris Fryar; multi-instrumentalist Clay Cook became a member not long afterward. This lineup recorded You Get What You Give, a 2010 album that debuted at number one on Billboard's Top 200 and contained duets with two of Brown's idols: Alan Jackson sang on "As She's Walking Away" and Jimmy Buffett on "Knee Deep," both number one country hits. "Colder Weather" and the loose-limbed "Keep Me in Mind" also reached number one, with "No Hurry" peaking at number two.
Adding percussionist Daniel de los Reyes as a full-time member, Zac Brown Band began to expand their horizons in 2012 with Uncaged, playing music that couldn't strictly be classified as country. As the album entered the Billboard charts at number one, the group still scored number one Country Airplay hits in "Goodbye in Her Eyes" and "Sweet Annie," with "Jump Right In" going to two, but the album found ZBB exploring rock-oriented territory. The group underscored their rock debut by recording an EP with Dave Grohl, the former Nirvana drummer who later led the Foo Fighters. Aptly titled The Grohl Sessions, Vol. 1, the EP appeared in 2014, reaching 25 on the Billboard Top 200. By the time it was released, Zac Brown Band had added bassist Matt Mangano, leaving John Driskell Hopkins to play a variety of instruments.
In 2015, the Zac Brown Band signed a joint deal with Big Machine and Republic Records, releasing Jekyll + Hyde under this new contract. Featuring cameos by Chris Cornell, Sara Bareilles, and Jewel, Jekyll + Hyde debuted at number one on Billboard and produced three number one country hits: "Homegrown," "Loving You Is Easy," and "Beautiful Drug."
Brown continued his musical explorations in 2016 by forming a new dance-pop band called Sir Rosevelt. By the time the Sir Rosevelt album appeared in December 2017, the Zac Brown Band had returned to their laid-back roots on 2017's Welcome Home, an album produced by Dave Cobb. Released on Elektra, its first single, "My Old Man," went to 14 on Country Airplay, with "Roots" peaking at 36.
Moving to BMG, the Zac Brown Band released The Owl in September 2019. Recorded with a variety of splashy big-budget producers, The Owl debuted at two upon its September 20, 2019 release. A week after The Owl appeared, Brown surprised his fans with the release of The Controversy, his debut solo album; it was recorded with many of the same producers as The Owl. The song "The Man Who Loves You the Most" arrived in June 2020. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

Hear Zac Brown's Heartfelt Adios to Jimmy Buffett ‘Pirates & Parrots'
A few months after the death of Jimmy Buffett, the Zac Brown Band is paying tribute to their friend with a new song, "Pirates & Parrots." "We're all here missing you," Brown sings, "All the pirates and the parrots sing, ‘So adios my friend, anchor where that ocean ends." The song, which evokes Buffett's easy-breezy permanent vacation vibe, features an appearance by singer-guitarist Mac McAnally, who is a member of the late Parrot King's Coral Reefer Band.
Brown premiered the tune last Thursday at a tribute concert called "Keep the Party Going: A Tribute to Jimmy Buffett at the Hollywood Bowl." Other performers at the concert included McAnally , Paul McCartney, the Eagles , Jon Bon Jovi, Jackson Browne, Brandi Carlile, and Pitbull.
"I'm so excited for you to hear this song and to pay tribute to Jimmy Buffett," Brown said in a statement. "It hit me hard when we found out he was exiting the stage, he was an incredible human being. This is a celebration of his life and all of the people that will remember him through his songs."
Buffett was an immense influence on country music , but especially Brown. He joined him and his band for collabs like 2011's "Knee Deep" and 2021's "Same Boat," and also united for a taping of CMT Crossroads .
Buffett died in September after a four-year battle with Merkel cell skin cancer. President Joe Biden eulogized the singer-songwriter with a message posted to social media. "A poet of paradise, Jimmy Buffett was an American music icon who inspired generations to step back and find the joy in life and in one another," Biden wrote. "We had the honor to meet and get to know Jimmy over the years, and he was in life as he was performing on stage – full of goodwill and joy, using his gift to bring people together."
