Frequently asked questions, q: what is a geneva sightseeing bus tour and how does it work.
Geneva bus tour provides you with the ease and adaptability to disembark at the closest designated stop. There's no tour guide; you have the freedom to create your own schedule. These stops are strategically positioned at key attractions, simplifying your sightseeing experience. When you're prepared to resume your journey, simply return to a designated bus stop, display your pass, and rejoin the bus to head towards your next destination. Feel free to complete the entire route after obtaining your tour ticket to acquaint yourself with the city and select your preferred places to visit for the duration of your stay.
Q: What is the best time to book a hop-on hop-off Geneva bus tour?
Spring in Geneva brings parks and gardens to life with vibrant blooms and pleasant weather for exploration. Booking your tour early secures your preferred date and time. Summer (June to August) is the peak tourist season with warm weather and longer daylight hours. Book well ahead, as it's busy. Autumn (September to November) offers comfortable weather with fewer crowds. Booking your tour during early autumn provides a relaxed experience.
Q: Are these bus tours guided?
In some Geneva hop-on hop-off bus tours, you'll find guided options, where a knowledgeable tour guide delivers live commentary during the excursion. The guide imparts insights about the city's history, landmarks, and points of interest as they come into view. This style of tour encourages interaction with the guide, enabling you to ask questions and create a more personalized experience. Alternatively, many other bus tours in Geneva also offer audio-guided tours. In this scenario, passengers are provided with headphones or earphones along with an audio device. You have the freedom to select your preferred language, and a pre-recorded commentary offers information about the city and its attractions as they appear along the route. This choice provides flexibility, allowing you to listen at your own pace.

Create an OpenShift AI environment with Snorkel
Red Hat OpenShift AI combines the scalability and flexibility of containerization with the capabilities of machine learning and data analytics. With Red Hat OpenShift AI, data scientists and developers can efficiently collaborate, deploy, and manage their models and applications in a secure and streamlined environment. Snorkel is an open source Python library for programmatically building training datasets without manual labeling. It was created in 2017 to support reproducibility of early research papers on programmatic labeling and weak supervision.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to create an OpenShift AI environment and walk through 2 Snorkel tutorials provided by the Snorkel open source library, one for data labeling and for information extraction. This tutorial uses the Snorkel open source Python library. This is different from—though related to—Snorkel AI. The team that developed the Snorkel open source project founded Snorkel AI to continue building on their core ideas. They have since built the Snorkel Flow AI data development platform, which is neither free nor open source. For information on the Snorkel project, visit snorkel.org . For information on Snorkel AI the company, visit snorkel.ai .
Prerequisites
For this tutorial you will need Red Hat OpenShift 4.14 with OpenShift AI and access to the open source Snorkel library .
Install OpenShift AI
OpenShift AI can be installed from the OpenShift web console. Navigate to the Operators tab and select OperatorHub . In the text box, type red hat openshift data science , select the Red Hat OpenShift Data Science operator, and click Install (Figure 1).
To start the installation, click the blue Install button again. You can check to see if our operator successfully deployed under the Operators tab and select Installed Operators (Figure 2).
Now that our operator has successfully deployed, click it and create a new Data Science Cluster instance (Figure 3).
We don't need to make any changes to the default settings, so we'll just click Create . If you would like to use an accelerator, it’s recommended to prepare that before accessing the OpenShift AI dashboard (Figure 4).
Once this has successfully deployed, we'll now access our OpenShift AI dashboard. On the administrator menu, head to Networking and click Routes . In Routes, we're going to change the project to redhat-ods-application , which is where we can access the address to our OpenShift AI application (Figure 5).
There should only be one route available, so go ahead and click the address to take you to the OpenShift AI dashboard (Figure 6).
Create a new data science project
Now we're going to set up our Jupyter environment so we can run the Snorkel tutorials by creating a new data science project. In the left side menu, navigate to the Data Science Projects tab (Figure 7).
Next, click Create data science project . Type your preferred project name (in our case, snorkel ) and click Create . This is the namespace where all the resources tailored to this demo will be deployed (Figure 8).
Create workbench
Inside our project, select Create workbench . This will guide us to the workbench configuration page. Complete the fields to match the following:
- Name : snorkel (or insert your preferred name)
- Image selection : PyTorch
- Version selection : 2023.1
- Container size : Small
- Check the Create new persistent storage box.
- Name : snorkel (or insert your preferred name)
- Persistent storage size : 20 GiB
Once you've completed the form, click Create workbench . You should be taken to the project home page. Once the workbench has finished provisioning, click Open to access the workbench. Log in with your OpenShift credentials and allow the selected permissions (Figure 9).
Snorkel open source tutorials
Now that we're in our Jupyter environment, let's clone the Snorkel repository. On the left, select the Git logo and click Clone a repository and paste the repository URL:
See Figure 10 for the Git logo icon and Figure 11 for the field to input the repository URL.
Now that we've cloned the repository, we're going to try out the spam and spouse tutorials (which you can find in the directories with the corresponding name). Both notebooks are incredibly detailed, as they walk you through and explain at length each step. These tutorials can serve as a reference point when using Snorkel API in the future.
The spam tutorial is a data labeling exercise that shows you how to build a training set for classifying YouTube comments as spam or not spam. To access it, enter the spam directory and begin with 01_spam_tutorial.ipynb . This is the first of 3 notebook files to walk through data labeling, augmentation, and slicing. It's an introductory tutorial and it is one avenue you could perform data labeling within OpenShift AI utilizing Snorkel.
The spouse tutorial is a little more complex, it walks through how to utilize Snorkel for information extraction by using keywords and distant supervision. In this tutorial, you will learn how to identify and classify someone's spouse utilizing labeling functions and models to do so. To begin this tutorial, enter the spouse directory and open spouse_demo.ipynb . This exercise is to demonstrate how simple it is to integrate Snorkel's libraries and tools with your OpenShift AI environment.
Now that you’ve walked through the tutorial, the Snorkel open source library is now available on your OpenShift AI environment. For more information on Snorkel, you can visit their websites to learn more about the Snorkel project and their AI services .
If you would like to try out OpenShift, you can with our Developer Sandbox using a no-cost trial. Learn more about OpenShift and our AI initiatives .

Since 2006, Red Hat has used the Red Hat Innovation Awards to recognize the technological achievements of Red Hat customers around the world who demonstrate creative problem-solving to make a positive impact on the business world and society. This year’s winners are Banco da Amazonia, Eusko Jaularitzaren Informatika Elkartea (EJIE), Informationstechnikzentrum Bund (Capgemini) and Transpower New Zealand.
A community-wide, online voting process will determine which customer is distinguished as the 2024 Red Hat Innovator of the Year. Voting is now open and will close at 9 a.m. ET on May 2nd. The winner will be announced on May 7, 2024, during Red Hat Summit. To vote for the 2024 Red Hat Innovator of the Year, visit www.redhat.com/en/success-stories/innovation-awards .
Let’s take a closer look at this year’s winners.
Banco da Amazonia
Banco da Amazônia S.A. is an Open Capital Society (traded in BM&FBOVESPA under the ticker BAZA3), controlled by the Brazilian federal government (95% of the shares). The bank is responsible for the management and operations of the Constitutional Fund for the North Region Development and Financing in the Amazon region, which accounts for more than half of Brazil’s territorial area. With Red Hat OpenShift and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform , BASA Digital drastically simplified the credit approval process, allowing it to be automatic, agile and accessible to rural producers in difficult-to-access areas.
This reduced processing time from 180 days to 24 hours, enabling better access to financial services for Banco da Amazonia Credit Agents and customers and fostering social inclusion and regional development. BASA Digital saw a 370.4% increase in contracted funds, benefiting rural producers. Red Hat's technology played a vital role in this transformation by enhancing security, reliability, and innovation. Banco da Amazônia S.A. now plans to expand BASA Digital projects to areas such as green energy and reforestation, and support even more investment in the Amazon region following the United Nations’ COP30 conference in BASA Digital’s home city, Belém. It also plans to extend its deployment of Red Hat products to bring all legacy platforms into containerized environments and build a strong foundation to move to the cloud.

Eusko Jaurlaritzaren Informatika Elkartea (EJIE)
EJIE, responsible for the digitalization of public services in the Basque Country, was tasked with creating language tools for the Basque language and chose Red Hat hybrid cloud technologies to develop an IT infrastructure with increased computing capacity, portability and scalability. Red Hat Enterprise Linux provides a more flexible and reliable operating system foundation for the translator, while Red Hat OpenShift delivered many of the necessary capabilities to power the AI lifecycle, including support for containers with graphics processing units (GPUs). EJIE has been able to promote the DevOps methodology by providing development teams with autonomy and tools to integrate with production teams, resulting in a product-oriented approach rather than a project-oriented one.
After establishing the technological architecture, EJIE engaged with Vicomtech, part of the Basque Network of Science, Technology and Innovation (RVCTI), to optimize the learning algorithm and develop a Rest API to interact with different applications. Since its launch in 2019, the Itzuli application for mobile phones has helped citizens translate Basque to and from Spanish, French and English. Itzuli has reported more than 100,000 downloads and is used by more than 30,000 users daily, with peaks of more than 260,000 queries in a single day.
With Red Hat OpenShift, which is deployed in the Basque Government's own IT infrastructure, EJIE was able to enhance its AI capabilities and is now working on a pilot project to create automatic transcriptions of judicial processes with Itzuli. The neural networks are being trained with recordings of Basque public television (EITB) and the proceedings of 12 different judicial bodies.
Read EJIE’s full Red Hat success story.
Informationstechnikzentrum Bund (Capgemini)
Capgemini, a global business and technology transformation partner, together with the German Federal Government’s Federal Information Technology Center (ITZBund), initiated a project to automate the deployment of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platforms in an air-gapped environment, meeting strict security standards. The goal is to streamline software development for digitizing government services. The use of Red Hat Dev Spaces allows software developers to work faster and deploy applications on OpenShift clusters, significantly contributing to the digitization of the German state. It replaces the need for individual laptop setups, reduces onboarding times, and provides enhanced computing power for AI development. The project standardizes development workspaces, scales for thousands of developers, adheres to data security regulations, and enables AI and ML workloads.
Read Capgemini and ITZBund’s full Red Hat success story.
Transpower New Zealand
Transpower is New Zealand's national electricity grid operator, connecting electricity generators, users, and distribution networks. Their multi-year modernization program involved updating the Market System, replacing end-of-life products, simplifying business logic, and introducing new capabilities. This program aimed to maintain a resilient, flexible, and cost-effective system. Red Hat solutions, such as Red Hat Fuse, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift, and streams for Apache Kafka, played a pivotal role in this journey. The modernized Market System reduced complexity and cost, improved reliability, and enabled support for real-time pricing. The project avoided around NZ$50 million compared to building a new system. This investment in Red Hat technologies facilitated standardization, automation, and innovation, attracting and retaining talent and enabling collaborative development and DevOps practices. It also supported their journey towards electrification and adapting to the changing energy landscape.

Honorable mentions
We would also like to acknowledge this year’s honorable mentions across EMEA, LATAM and APAC regions. In the EMEA region, three companies won honorable mentions for their innovative work with Red Hat technologies – Lloyds Banking Group, Saudi Aramco and Dublin Airport Authority . The LATAM region had two companies that were recognized for their achievements – Banco Santander and JUFEJUS.
Each year, Red Hat also hosts the Red Hat APAC Innovation Awards to recognize the technological achievements of our customers in the APAC region who demonstrate creative thinking, determined problem solving, and innovative use of Red Hat solutions. There are many APAC innovation award winners recognized across 13 different countries for categories including, digital transformation, hybrid cloud infrastructure, cloud-native development, automation and resilience.
