"I’m so excited to go back out on tour again in 2011! The 'Fearless Tour' was so much fun and even more unforgettable than I ever imagined, and I can't wait to get back out and play my new music from Speak Now! The fans have been so amazing and I'm thrilled to play in new cities around the world and meet even more of my fans in 2011!" [3]

Taylor Swift is adorable. Like a cherry-cheeked, golden-fleeced little doll. Or your sweet, innocent baby sister. And honestly, you'd think her audience of millions was nothing other than pretty teenage girls and the Joe Jonas clones who dutifully accompany them to the arena for a night of "Love Story," "You Belong With Me," and "Mine."

However, there's a sizeably creepy chunk of Swift's followers that happens to consist of 35-year-old males.

Needless to say, it's a little unsettling when you meet a balding dude with a blank stare named David who closes his eyes, mouths the words to "Our Song," and sporadically says stuff like, "Taylor's hot. I've loved her since she was 16. Any man would be lucky to own her." (Yes ... Own her.)

Anyway, the moral: When you take your baby sister to Taylor Swift's newly announced Miami show at the American Airlines Arena , keep a giant hawk-like eye on her. Because the real world (not to mention the freaking internet ) is crawling with creeps.

You know, like David and Kanye West.

Taylor Swift announces 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)'

"Speak Now" is the singer's third studio album.

Taylor Swift has announced her next re-recorded album.

On the first night of her three-night stop in Nashville for her Eras Tour, the award-winning singer told concertgoers that her next "Taylor's Version" re-recording will be her third studio album, "Speak Now." It will be released on July 7.

"It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆) I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness," Swift wrote in an Instagram post .

"I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I've sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor's Version) with you on July 7th."

"Speak Now" was released on October 25, 2010, through Big Machine Records.

The upcoming album will be the third of her past albums that she's re-recorded. She released " Fearless (Taylor's Version) ," which is a re-recording of her second studio 2008 album, "Fearless," in April 2021. And in November 2021, she released her second re-recorded album "Red (Taylor's Version)," which was originally released in 2012.

Last year, Swift made history as the first artist to claim the entire top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart with songs from her latest album, "Midnights." She beat out previous record-holder Drake, who sent nine songs into the top 10 in 2021.

In March, she kicked off her Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona. She's currently on the North American leg of the tour, which will end with a grand finale at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in August. The next city she will perform in following Nashville is Philadelphia.

Trending on billboard.

So far on the Eras Tour, which kicked off March 17 in Glendale, Ariz., Swift has only been performing one song from  Speak Now , “Enchanted,” in her setlist — although “Mean” was performed as a surprise song during her April 15 show in Tampa, Fla.  Speak Now  spawned two top 10 singles in “Mine” (No. 3 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 ) and “Back to December” (No. 6), plus four other singles — “Mean” (No. 11), “Ours” (No. 13), “Sparks Fly” (No. 17) and “The Story of Us” (No. 41) — that charted on the Hot 100.

Upon its October 2010 release — following Swift’s mainstream breakthrough with 2008’s  Fearless , which won the album of the year Grammy —  Speak Now  became the first Swift album to cross the 1 million sales mark in its debut week, launching at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 1.047 million copies sold. Swift’s third album has earned a total of 7.8 million equivalent album units in the U.S. through Apr. 27, according to Luminate.

A user’s guide to Taylor Swift’s ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’

A young woman sits on the ground wearing a long diaphanous dress

“Speak Now” wasn’t the album that made Taylor Swift a superstar. But it was the first one she made as a superstar.

Two years after she released “Fearless,” which sold more than 10 million copies and won the Grammy Award for album of the year, Swift returned in 2010 with her third studio LP, a dense and sprawling collection of songs about a life — a creative life, a professional life and a romantic life — lived squarely in the spotlight.

Now, amid the blockbuster Eras Tour she’ll bring to Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium next month for half a dozen nights, Swift, 33, has remade “Speak Now” as the latest installment in her plan to rerecord her first six albums.

Here are five takeaways from “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)”:

Taylor Swift lies on rocky ground, her arms above her head.

1. SHE WROTE ’EM ALL Swift has long been proud of the fact that she wrote all 14 songs on “Speak Now” by herself, and that hasn’t changed in 2023. In an essay that accompanies the LP’s new edition, she writes that, having had her authorship questioned in the past, she “made a decision that would completely define this album: I decided I would write it entirely on my own. I figured, they couldn’t give all the credit to my cowriters if there weren’t any. But that posed a new challenge: It really had to be good. If it wasn’t, I would be proving my critics right.”

Some no doubt remained suspicious that a woman in her late teens had truly composed “Speak Now’s” songs. Yet revisiting the album makes clear she accomplished what she set out to do: Her best songs here represent a high point in her immense catalog, with an emotional and intellectual incisiveness she’s never surpassed.

“You made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter,” she sings in the strummy opener, “Mine” — an entire short story in a single lyric. “You held your head like a hero on a history-book page,” she sings in the stately closer, “ Long Live ” — an image about as vivid as words can convey.

2. SHE RETCONNED A SNIDE LYRIC Though she’s made a virtue of precisely replicating her old albums — the “Taylor’s Version” campaign began, don’t forget, as a way to devalue master recordings she doesn’t own — Swift makes a crucial change in her fresh take on “ Better Than Revenge .”

The pop-punk song is a snide takedown of a girl who “steals” the narrator’s boyfriend — a framing that reflects Swift’s mindset at age 19 but that also reveals the institutionalized misogyny in which that mindset was shaped. “She’s not a saint and she’s not what you think / She’s an actress,” Swift sneers in the original. “She’s better known for the things that she does on the mattress.”

On the new “Speak Now,” she swaps out the second of those lines for a less problematic lyric: “He was a moth to the flame / She was holding the matches.” It’s easy to understand why, of course, particularly given the heat Swift faced this year for her evidently short-lived romance with the 1975’s Matty Healy, whose history of demeaning comments regarding women of color led many a Swiftie to question the singer’s professed commitment to a variety of progressive ideals.

But it’s also easy to find some trouble in this attempt by one of the world’s richest and most powerful artists to memory-hole an unflattering moment from her past. What might she retcon next?

3. ‘DEAR JOHN’ REMAINS FANTASTICALLY SAVAGE

speak now tour us dates

A better strategy for recontextualizing old work might be the one Swift deployed during a concert last month in Minneapolis, where she introduced a performance of “Speak Now’s” “Dear John” by assuring her ultra-devoted fans that they don’t “need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 billion years ago.”

Her comments were widely understood to refer to John Mayer, about whom Swift is thought to have written “Dear John,” in which she excoriates an ex for gaslighting a woman “too young to be messed with.” Onstage she insisted she no longer cares about what happened to her when she was 19, which is almost certainly untrue. (The whole point of the “Taylor’s Version” project — the whole point of Taylor Swift — is that the past is always alive.)

Yet by explicitly positioning “Dear John” as a totem of her youth, Swift gave herself a kind of moral leeway to present the song as is on the new “Speak Now.” And thank goodness for that: Thirteen years after the song’s original release, its exacting savagery — “I’m shining like fireworks over your sad, empty town” — is still a thrill to behold.

4. BANJOS! Swift wouldn’t score her first No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot 100 until “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” from 2012’s “Red” — an album for which she consciously adopted the sleek programmed textures of the hitmaking pop producers Max Martin and Shellback.

Given where she’s gone since then, both aesthetically and commercially, it’s fascinating to remember how rooted in hand-played sounds the former country phenom still was on “Speak Now,” which piled on the strings and banjos and acoustic guitars in a year when the Hot 100 was dominated by the likes of Kesha’s “Tik Tok,” Usher’s “OMG,” Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and Far East Movement’s “Like a G6.”

From left: Bebe Rexha, Drake and Kelsea Ballerini perform.

What’s behind the epidemic of concertgoers throwing stuff at artists?

On Wednesday, Drake became the latest artist to get hit by an object hurled by a fan at a concert. Should we blame the pandemic? Social media? Lazy bouncers?

July 11, 2023

5. ‘TIMELESS’ LEADS THE OUTTAKES Like Swift’s remakes of “Fearless” and “Red” before it, “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” comes with a handful of newly recorded outtakes from her so-called vault. None quite rise to the level of what’s on the album itself, though each provides an intriguing look at where her head was as she was writing.

“ Electric Touch ” has chugging emo guitars provided in part by Fall Out Boy; “ I Can See You ” sounds like the Police, of all things. “ Castles Crumbling ” features Hayley Williams of Paramore (one of Swift’s opening acts on the Eras Tour) and, as produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff, suggests she was into cloistered indie folk years before “Folklore” and “Evermore.”

The best of the vault tracks is “ Timeless ,” a characteristically detailed fantasy in which the narrator, having come across a box of photos in an antique shop, imagines herself in a series of historical romances. (Fans have decided the tune was inspired by Swift’s grandmother Marjorie, whose name provided the title of a track on “Evermore.”) “Time breaks down your mind and body / Don’t you let it touch your soul,” she sings in the bridge — advice she’s clearly taken to heart.

'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' is coming: Taylor Swift confirms album during Eras tour

speak now tour us dates

After weeks of well-placed clues and TikTok-fueled speculation , Taylor Swift fans now know which album comes next in her expansive "Taylor's Version" project: "Speak Now."

During a headlining tour stop Friday night at Nashville's Nissan Stadium, Swift confirmed that "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" debuts July 7. It's the third installment of her ongoing adventure into back catalog re-recording, following "Red (Taylor's Version)" and "Fearless (Taylor's Version)."

Swift teased the announcement in a series of cryptic clues leading up to her three-night Eras tour stop this weekend in the city that helped to launch her trendsetting career.

"I've been planning something for a while," Swift said as the Friday night audience exploded with applause. "It's my love language with you. I plot. I scheme. I plan. And then I get to tell you about it."

As the album title and release date flashed across the stadium screen, she added: "I think, rather than me speaking about it ... I'd rather just show you."

All the songs on tour Taylor Swift is adding surprise songs to every Eras tour stop. See the list so far.

Swift put a bow on the "Taylor's Version" unveiling with an acoustic rendition of "Sparks Fly," a 2011 single off "Speak Now." The announcement came near the end of a three-and-a-half hour show from Swift that spanned 45 songs and all 10 of her studio albums. Nearly 70,500 concert-goers — a Nissan Stadium record — attended night one of the tour.

And Swift painted the town purple — the color of "Speak Now" — in celebration of the announcement. The John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge, Tennessee State Capitol and downtown Alliance Bernstein skyscraper all embraced shades of purple lightning Friday night in a nod to Swift's album announcement.

Due to a songwriting ownership battle with previous label Big Machine, Swift began releasing re-recorded versions of her first six albums in 2021. Called "Taylor's Version," the albums typically debut with a handful of previously unreleased songs and collaborations, such as the 10-minute version of fan-favorite "All Too Well" and 2021 Chris Stapleton duet "I Bet You Think About Me."

"Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" includes six songs from her unreleased vault, Swift confirmed late Friday via social media. Her third album known for singles "Mean" and "Back To December," among others, Swift initially released "Speak Now" in 2010.

"The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing… and living to speak about it.

The Eras tour continues Saturday and Sunday at Nissan Stadium.

Taylor Swift announces ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ is coming in July

Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour - Houston, TX

Taylor Swift  let fans in her hometown of Nashville to be the first to get the official news: “Speak Now” will be the next album in her “Taylor’s Version” series of re-recorded albums.

Swift is giving fans plenty of time to pre-order the album: She revealed that it’s coming out July 7.

“I think rather than me speaking about it,” she said, to screams, as fans realized from the language that the long-awaited announcement was at hand, “I thought I would show you, so if you would direct your attention” to the big screens…” There, the album cover and release date were shown on the big screen.

Upon the announcement at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium, the city turned on purple lights on the nearby bridge over the Cumberland River.

About 10 minutes after making the announcement, she posted to her social accounts. “It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk,” she wrote, using the acronym for “iykyk.” (The July 9 reference refers to a specific mention of that date in the lyrics of “Last Kiss” — believed to be a date in 2008 when she went to Texas to visit then-boyfriend Joe Jonas.)

“I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing… and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th.”

In an additional image, Swift wrote, “I always looked at this album as my album, and the lump in my throat expands to a quivering voice as I say this. Thanks to you, dear reader, it finally will be. I consider this music to be, along with your faith in me, the best thing that’s ever been mine.” The “it finally will be” in this message presumably refers to Swift now having a version of the collection that she fully owns, as opposed to the original Big Machine recording. (The “best thing that’s ever been mine” line is a direct quote from “Mine,” which was the lead single from “Speak Now” in 2010.)

Fans had a pretty strong indication of what was coming. Wristbands given out to fans turned purple at the end of her previous concert this past Sunday, and electronic banners coming into Nissan Stadium were purple-hued.

Swifties had long speculated whether “Speak Now” or “1989” would be next to get the re-recording-plus-bonus-tracks treatment, with the evidence increasingly weighing in her third album’s favor.

The Taylor Nation account went live on Instagram to carry the spoken announcement for fans, with barely a minute’s advance notice.

The new cover art has modern-day Swift wearing a dress similar to the one she wore on the front of the original album in 2010, but with a more serious expression that marks her as definitely not the 20-year-old who posed for the Big Machine edition’s cover.

Swift did not immediately release titles or any other information about the bonus “Vault” tracks, other than to say there would be six. The total 22-song count for the release is confirmed on a  product page  that went up shortly after the announcement, where it’s revealed that the LP version will be a three-record set, released on “three unique violet marble color vinyl discs.”

So far on the  Eras Tour , Swift has only been performing one song on a nightly basis from the “Speak Now” album, “Enchanted,” far less than any other album she’s put out except for her debut, which has no nightly representation. Rather than lead fans to suspect that she disfavors the album, that peculiar choice to make the album practically MIA in the three-hour-plus sets only heightened anticipation that she might be waiting to add more material from “Speak Now” until she was ready to announce the re-recording.

Swift made her announcement right after moving onto the B-stage for the solo-acoustic “surprise songs” segment that comes late in the evening each night on tour. Although Swift inevitably used the moment to premiere a “Speak Now” song that had not previously been played on the tour, “Sparks Fly,” accompanying herself on the guitar, she didn’t devote both surprise slots to the album. The second surprise number Friday was from a different album — “Teardrops on My Guitar,” from her debut, performed perhaps counterintuitively on the piano, not guitar.

(A third song made its debut on the tour Friday night, albeit not during the surprise songs segment. During the portion of the show dedicated to the album “Red,” opening act  Phoebe Bridgers , making her first appearance on the Eras Tour, joined Swift to sing a duet of “Nothing New,” which they recorded together for the Vault section of “Red (Taylor’s Version).”)

Swift has been recording all-new versions of all of her Big Machine releases, with only “ Fearless ” and “ Red ” having come out so far in “Taylor’s Version” editions. The new albums have been strong sellers, as fans follow her wishes to buy and stream only the versions where she owns the recordings outright, after her public distress at her Big Machine catalog having been sold against her wishes. The “TV” editions have also included copious bonus tracks of songs Swift wrote but never released during those eras.

“Speak Now” was a landmark album for Swift 13 years ago, becoming the first and only album for which Swift was the sole songwriter on all the tracks — seen at the time as a reaction to cynics who believed that the young singer’s co-writers must have done the heavier lifting on her first two albums. Having made the point, Swift resumed working with writing collaborators on the following release, “Red.”

The album is also remembered for marking a more decided turn toward pop, from her country origins, even though it would be another couple of albums still before she firmly declared herself a pop artist. At the same time, it signified a move into still-bolder songwriting, as in “Dear John,” still one of Swift’s most strikingly raw songs to date. Six songs from the album charted in the Billboard Hot 100: “Mine,” “Back to December,” “Mean,” “The Story of Us,” “Sparks Fly” and “Ours” (the last of which did not appear until a deluxe edition with extra tracks was belatedly released).

Although none of the songs from the album went to No. 1, “Speak Now” itself debuted atop the Billboard 200 with over a million copies sold in its first week. The Big Machine record ultimately spent six weeks at No. 1 and has been certified six-times platinum.

Taylor Swift Announces ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’ At Nashville Show

Taylor Swift's 'Eras Tour' show in Nashville on May 5 was an extra special event, as she officially announced that she is set to release the 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' album come July 2023.

The Swifties were right all along! While performing yet another stellar  Eras Tour  show on May 5,  Taylor Swift , 33, made the Nashville show all the more special with an exciting announcement. Amid a plethora of purple banners, lighting, and easter eggs galore, the songstress confirmed that she is releasing a re-recorded version of her 2010 album,  Speak Now , on July 7, 2023.

(function () { var zergnet = document.createElement('script'); zergnet.type = 'text/javascript'; zergnet.async = true; zergnet.src = (document.location.protocol == 'https:' ? When she announced the official release date, Taylor explained that she had been “planning something for a while.” Then Taylor got a bit cryptic and asked everyone to look at the big screen for the news. “I plot I scheme I plan…. I think rather than me like speaking about it I thought I would just show you, so if you would direct your attention to the back big screen,” she added, before revealing the July 7 release date ( watch here ). Upon hearing the news, the crowd responded by screaming and cheering her on.

Taylor later took to Instagram  to personally explain the significance of the upcoming release. “It fills me with such pride and joy to announce that my version of Speak Now will be out July 7 (just in time for July 9th, iykyk 😆),” she captioned a gorgeous pic in a purple tulle dress. “I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness. I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I’ve sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) with you on July 7th. Pre-order now at TaylorSwift.com.”

That evening, a fan confirmed that something big was set to happen with a video of Taylor hinting at an announcement. “Guys I’m not going to lie to you we have some cool stuff that is going to happen tonight,” the “Anti-Hero” hitmaker said on stage that night. “There’s just some fun things!” Amid performing “tolerate it” from the  evermore  album, Taylor lit up the stage in a sultry purple hue, which is notably the main color scheme of the  Speak Now  album cover art.

Prior to the big Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) announcement, Taylor seemingly hinted at the purple color scheme of the May 5 show with a cryptic post via Instagram on May 1. “WOW Atlanta just… wow. The band, dancers, and I can’t stop talking about how insanely magical it was playing for you guys the past 3 nights ,” her caption of her rocking a purple coat began. “You were always bouncing, dancing, screaming every lyric. And you created so many breathtaking moments for us, you know what I mean. Looove yooouuu. Hey Nashville you’re NEXT.” Nashville, as mentioned above, was the city that she announced the new album’s release date.

The night of the Nashville show, ahead of the major news, Taylor surprised fans by having  Phoebe Bridgers , 28, perform “Nothing New (Taylor’s Version)” with her. A fan took to Twitter to share a video of the riveting performance and many of the Grammy winner’s fans couldn’t contain their excitement. “Mid set list?! what’s gonna happen at secret songs! I’m so stressed haha,” one admirer quipped , while a second joked , “i am unwell.”

After Taylor and Phoebe performed together, one fan speculated her choice to bring out the 28-year-old amid the  Red  album performances solidified the potential for the  Speak Now announcement to occur at the end of the show. “Okay but she COULD have brought Phoebe out to play ‘Nothing New’ during the surprise song set as normal but she CHOSE to do it during RED which only makes me MORE convinced Speak Now announcement is coming tonight DURING SURPRISE SONGS,” the fan wrote on May 5.

Taylor released her third studio album, Speak Now, in 2010 about four years after her debut album. The successful record features some of her biggest hits including “Mean”, “Dear John”, “Back To December”, “Enchanted” and many more. She announced her iconic  Eras Tour  in Nov. 2022 , and left an easter egg in the caption. “I’m enchanted to announce my next tour: Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour, a journey through the musical eras of my career (past and present!) The first leg of the tour will be in stadiums across the US, with international dates to be announced as soon as we can!”, her caption of the tour poster read at the time. As previously mentioned, “Enchanted” is the ninth track on the original  Speak Now  album.

Although Swifties didn’t know the exact date of when the re-recorded version of Speak Now was set to be released, they have been finding clues of Taylor’s hints for months. In the music video for her song “Bejeweled” off of her most recent  Midnights album, Taylor left a few easter eggs for fans, per  US Weekly . One of them was the elevator button colors in the video, Taylor hits the third floor (which is purple) and  Speak Now  was her third album.

Taylor Swift (Finally) Announces ‘Speak Now’ as Next Re-Recording

By Tomás Mier

Swifties, your sleuthing and easter eggs were right : Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) is next!

During Taylor Swift ‘s Eras Tour show in Nashville Friday, Taylor Swift officially revealed that her beloved third album, Speak Now , will be the next album that she will re-release.

“I think rather than me speaking about it,” she teased as fans began to scream, “I thought I would just show you. So, if you would direct your attention to the back, big screen that we have.” Behind her, the screen read: “Speak Now. Taylor’s Version. Available July 7.” Fans immediately flooded social media to post screenshots and live footage of the big reveal.

Soon after, Swift tweeted, “I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness.”

The announcement timing is quite fitting, as it arrives during her first of three shows in Nashville where she launched her career in country music. The city commemorated the occasion by lighting its famous John Sigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge purple Friday night.

“How many days did you spend thinking about #NashvilleTSTheErasTour? Do you find it dizzying?” wrote her official fan account Taylor Nation on Instagram, teasing the release with lyrics to “Lavender Haze” and a purple heart.

In Tampa last month, before she performed Speak Now ‘s title track, she told fans, “I’ve been thinking a lot about one of my albums recently. One of my albums has been on my mind a lot… Lots going on in my brain about it.”

Swift dropped another seeming hint during “Cardigan.” While singing, “I knew you’d linger like a tattoo kiss, I knew you’d haunt all of my what-ifs,” the singer winked directly into the camera as she sang “haunt,” which is more likely a reference to the  Speak Now  deep cut “Haunted.”

And then, following her shows in Atlanta last weekend, she included a purple heart in a tweet directed to Nashville. ( Speak Now ‘s album cover featured Swift in a purple flowy dress. Fans know: Each album has a distinct color scheme.)

Along with her coy comments, there have been numerous Swift-esque easter eggs in recent releases that have led fans to believe that Speak Now would be the next album to drop.

The video for Midnights ‘ “ Bejeweled ” featured several hints. First, string instrumentations for two Speak Now songs, “Enchanted” and “Long Live,” were featured in the video.

Speak Now World Tour

The Speak Now World Tour was the second concert tour by the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift , who embarked on it to support her third studio album, Speak Now (2010). It ran from February 9, 2011, to March 18, 2012, and covered 110 shows across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania.

Background and development

Acoustic cover versions, surprise covers, special guests, cancelled date, external links.

The set list consisted mostly of songs from Speak Now , with a few numbers from Swift's first two albums, Taylor Swift (2006) and Fearless (2008). Two songs were performed as medleys with music of other artists: " Hey, Soul Sister " by Train , " Apologize " by OneRepublic , and " I'm Yours " by Jason Mraz . On several US shows, Swift invited special guests to perform duets onstage with her. Multiple US shows were recorded for a concert film and live album, both titled Speak Now World Tour – Live , released on November 21, 2011.

Music critics generally praised the production and Swift's showmanship and interactions with her audience. According to Pollstar , the Speak Now World Tour was the fourth-highest-grossing tour and the highest-grossing by a female artist of 2011. Billboard ranked it fifth on their list of the top tours of 2011.

I’m so excited to go back out on tour again in 2011! The 'Fearless Tour' was so much fun and even more unforgettable than I ever imagined, and I can't wait to get back out and play my new music from Speak Now! The fans have been so amazing and I'm thrilled to play in new cities around the world and meet even more of my fans in 2011! [2]

While promoting Speak Now , Swift mentioned her excitement for her upcoming tour. She stated that the tour was going to be "big" and "extensive". [3] On November 23, 2010, various media outlets, including Billboard magazine, announced the second tour by Swift. [4] It followed her successful Fearless Tour , which played over 100 dates in five countries. The Speak Now World Tour marked Swift's first in multiple stadiums . Before it commenced, she performed "The Allure of Taylor Swift" show aboard the MV Allure of the Seas at the Allure of the Seas Aquatheater, as a part of Royal Caribbean Cruises on January 21, 2011 in Cozumel , Mexico . [5] Swift used Tom Petty 's " American Girl " as her entrance song. [6]

It ranked tenth on Pollstar 's "Top 50 Worldwide Tour (Mid-Year)" list, earning over $40 million. [7] At the end of 2011, the tour placed fourth on the magazine's annual "Top 25 Worldwide Tours" list, earning $104.2 million from 100 shows, [8] making it the highest-grossing female and solo tour of 2011.

Swift performing during the Speak Now World Tour in 2012 with lyrics from Natasha Bedingfield's "Neon Lights" on her arm Taylor Swift (6820735620).jpg

During the North American [9] and Australasian tour legs, Swift wrote different song lyrics, and occasionally quotes from famous speeches and movies, on her left arm for each show. She stated that the lyrics should be viewed as a nightly "mood ring", [10] and The New Yorker has cited the practice as an example of Swift's "keen understanding of what fuels fan obsession in the first place: a desire for intimacy between singer and listener". [11]

Swift performed many acoustic cover versions during the North American leg. In each city, she paid tribute to a homegrown artist. [12] She stated that the cover versions allowed her to be "spontaneous" in an otherwise well-rehearsed show: "You'll have a lot of people who will come to more than one show, and I want them to get a different experience every time." [13]

The following set list is from the May 27, 2011 show in Omaha, Nebraska. It is not intended to represent all shows throughout the tour. [14]

Breaking news, ‘sopranos’ star drea de matteo claims celebrities are against leftist biden agenda, but are ‘petrified’ to speak out.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Emmy-winning actress Drea de Matteo told Donald Trump Jr. in a podcast interview that many prominent celebrities like herself are against Biden’s agenda but are afraid to speak out.

De Matteo, who rose to fame in HBO’s “The Sopranos,” spoke with former President Trump’s son on a recent episode of his “Triggered” podcast.

De Matteo has a history of slamming cancel culture, even starting a streetwear brand called “Ultrafree” that helps “promote free speech.”

De Matteo spoke about how she has changed her opinions on certain issues such as illegal immigration, and that while she previously voted for Biden based on sympathy for illegal immigrants, the chaos at the border has changed her mind.

After showing off a cap from her friends’ company, Sloppy Tease, that read “Close the border you moron,” they discussed the mass illegal immigration of able-bodied, fighting-age men. “I just don’t know that they’re here to support the American people,” de Matteo said.

Trump Jr. noted that he had met some of de Matteo’s former co-stars in New York and suggested, “I don’t feel like a lot of those guys were leftist liberals,” yet even so, he did not want to out them as non-liberals until they wanted to come forward themselves.

He then asked de Matteo if she had noticed other Hollywood actors also question modern leftist policy, but who don’t quite “have the guts to do what you’re doing.”

While de Matteo still considers herself a liberal in a certain sense, she said she has been against modern far-left trends for a long time, even if she has been open about it only recently. “I really did want to fight, but I didn’t think I had, A, the voice, B, the balls,” but said everything changed once she “got thrown to the wolves.”

She added, “And once I was out there, I was like, ‘I’m out here, what am I going to do? I’m out of my cage.’ Like, I may as well just, you know, do what I got to do.”

After noting she has been supported by her boyfriend, God, and her children, she said, “they believe in what we believe in, which is freedom and unity the right way, not unity the way this administration was trying to push. That was bulls—t.”

Drea De Matteo, with long hair and glasses, during a podcast interview with Donald Trump Jr.

She continued to slam the Biden administration, arguing, “They took every social agenda and used that and used these social issues as pawns to further their administration, did nothing but divide people.”

“This administration has just been hammering all of these things,” she argued, “and people in Hollywood are petrified. What, are you going to speak out against race, and sex, and all of that stuff? People are afraid to have those conversations, because first of all, you never win with a liberal, you’re just never gonna win.”
