Public and Private boat rides aboard our professionally captained and crewed double deck lake excursion boats, Harbor Lights (90 max) and Sapphire Moon (49 max). The main deck is enclosed with floor to ceiling windows and is climate controlled. The upper deck is open to the sky and stars. Harbor Lights features a capacity of 90 guests, with plenty of room to enjoy the views having 150 seats of choice between our two decks. Handicap accessible boarding and one restroom (accessible with handrails) on the boat. Sapphire Moon is our double deck open-air boat with wrap around VIP style lounge seating, stainless steel bars, and upper deck lounge seating and tables. Private charter cruises are available customized to your group or business' needs. We depart and return exclusively out of Rockwall Harbor from our private dock located next to the Scott Self Memorial Lighthouse, directly behind the Hilton Lakefront Dallas/Rockwall. A Summer Sail

My cute lakeside town in Texas is known for one thing in particular: sailing. Yet somehow, I’ve never been sailing before! Since my best friend is visiting from Los Angeles, I thought it would be fun to take her sailing around Lake Ray Hubbard. What, is this not how you picture Texas?

Sail with Scott is a staple of Rockwall. There are sunset cruises, starlight cruises, and daytime family cruises. We booked a 90-minute sunset cruise on a Friday night. The boat leaves the dock promptly at 7:00 pm and by golly, it did. (We were very impressed with the Broadway-level punctuality!)

You’re asked to arrive 20-30 minutes in advance. We got there at 6:15 to take some photos at The Harbor Rockwall before sailing away and we were the first to line up, meaning we got first pick for where to sit. You definitely want to give yourself buffer time because parking at The Harbor, at least on a Friday night, is pretty nuts.

Once aboard, we opened our rosé. The cruise is BYOB and you’re allowed to bring food, so you know I packed a boat-friendly picnic!

The Seawolf has several seating options: benches that each fit two people in the front, benches along the sides of the boat, and even some picnic tables in the back. We chose the front bench on the starboard side and I loved our seats. 

Even on July 1st, we weren’t too hot! There was a great breeze coming off of the water and we clicked along nicely, going close enough to the shore that we could admire the houses and yards. Once the sails were unfurled, we pulled out our orzo pasta salad packed in mason jars for dinner. I also brought Kuhlman Cellars herbed almonds, pineapple bread, and snickerdoodle sandwiches for dessert.

The playlist was fun – all sailing and water themed, a little Frank Sinatra and Jack Johnson, all easy listening. We went down the shore for about 45 minutes, then turned around to head back to the Harbor for the last 45 minutes. Our Captain was lovely, offering to let guests take photos at the wheel and everything. They also had complimentary waters at the ready. 

This has got to be hands down one of the most magical things you can do in the DFW area. Rockwall is just twenty minutes east of Dallas and if you’ve never been, The Harbor itself is stunningly beautiful. When my German friends visited me, they said, “This looks just like Spain!” I’ve never been to Spain but I’ll take their word for it.

There are many restaurants at The Harbor (my favorites are Giovanni, Gloria’s, Rodeo Goat, and Sideways BBQ) so you could easily grab dinner before or after the cruise or just sit on a bench and watch the final moments of the sunset.

We are located on the water side of the Dallas/Rockwall Hilton Hotel on Lake Ray Hubbard. 2055 Summer Lee Dr., Rockwall, Texas 75032

We are 23 miles east of Downtown Dallas on Interstate 30. Exit Horizon Rd. While still on the exit ramp, take a right on Shoreline Rd. (right before Culpepper’s Restaurant). Then take a right on Summer Lee Dr. go 1/2 mile and park near the Hilton Hotel. (you can valet park at Hilton Hotel for $10).

Walk through or around the Hilton Hotel down to the water. When you can touch the large lighthouse, you will see the boat. Please arrive 30 minutes before your departure. Missing the boat is not a figure of speech.
