Theodore "Ted" Beneke is the former president and owner of Beneke Fabricators , a company he inherited from his father, Mr. Beneke . He was the former boss and brief affair partner of Skyler White .

Ted gives Skyler her old job back as his accountant. Ted has always been attracted to Skyler but does not make any advances after she returns. Ted commits tax fraud to keep the company alive and save everyone's jobs, which he admits to Skyler when she finds irregularities in the company's books. Skyler has an affair with Ted in season three to exact revenge upon Walt, but ignores Ted's offer to leave some of her things at his house. When Walt finds out about their affair, he tries to confront Ted, who hides in his office. This escalates into a scene where Walt is escorted out by security guards and the company staff becomes aware of Skyler's relationship with Ted. Skyler gets angry at Ted when he shows up at her house to ask about their relationship, and she later severs both her personal and professional ties with him.

Ted later meets with Skyler, who is now running a car wash, and notifies her of an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) investigation into his company's taxes. Since Skyler kept the books, she can be linked to Ted's tax fraud, likely placing her entire family under surveillance, so she intervenes by pretending at Ted's meeting with the IRS to be an unqualified bookkeeper hired only for her looks. Her supposed incompetence forestalls a full investigation, provided Ted pays the back taxes and penalties. Skyler arranges to provide Ted the money by using the proceeds from Walt's meth production to have Saul pretend a long-lost dead relative in Luxembourg left Ted an inheritance. Saul discovers that instead of paying the IRS, Ted leased a new Mercedes and is using the funds to reopen his business. When Skyler urges Ted to pay the IRS first, he refuses, so Skyler tells him the money came from her. Ted still refuses to pay the IRS and Skyler perceives him to be blackmailing her into paying both his tax bill and the costs to reopen his business. Skyler has Saul send two of his men—Huell and Kuby—to force Beneke to write the check to the IRS. They succeed, but Ted panics and attempts to flee, tripping on a loose rug and crashing headfirst into a counter.

Later on, Saul informs Skyler that something happened to Ted, causing her to conclude that he died. Saul tells her that Ted is alive, but hospitalized. When Skyler visits him, she sees that Ted is rigidly sitting upright and wearing a halo brace. Ted tells Skyler he lied to medical personnel and police, claiming his broken neck resulted from an accidental fall, and that because he fears for the safety of his family, he will never mention how the injury occurred. Recognizing that Ted has been intimidated into keeping quiet about the source of his money, Skyler goes along with Ted's perception by coldly replying "Good" to his promise of silence.

History [ ]

Background information [ ].

Ted is a divorcee with twin daughters. He took over his family's business at some point during his adult years and developed a close bond with his employees. Ted harbored feelings for Skyler White during her brief stint at the company when she was young, and eventually made a drunken pass at her (for which he later apologized profusely). Skyler left the company soon afterward, but Ted's feelings for her remained intact for years.

Around 2003, his company announced a job opening for currently unemployed civilians. (" Smoke ")

As Beneke Fabricators began a financial downward decline, Ted resorted to committing major fraud in order to keep the company alive, by cooking the books.

Season 2 [ ].

Ted gave Skyler her old job back as their primary bookkeeper after she burst into his office against the wishes of his secretary. (" Negro y Azul ")

Working late one night, a teary-eyed Skyler confesses to Ted that she feels guilty for not being more upbeat after receiving the good news about Walter White 's lung cancer remission. "Being that rock" for one's family "takes everything you've got," Ted tells her, putting his hand on hers. (" Over ")

A few days later at his birthday party, Ted requests that Skyler perform her sultry rendition of Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" in front of their co-workers. Though reluctant at first, Skyler relents, finishing the ditty by kissing Ted on the cheek. After Skyler discovers some accounting irregularities, she consults Ted, who admits to committing major fraud to keep the company alive. She says she won't turn him in, but adds, "I can't be a part of it." Despite her disavowal, she returns to work the next day. (" Mandala ")

When she goes into labor and Walt doesn't respond to her calls and texts, Ted accompanies her to the hospital and witnesses the birth of her daughter, Holly White . (" Phoenix ")

Ted with Skyler.

Ted continued for days to have Skyler's assistance in cooking the books. When she attempts to make a move on him in the break room, following the discovery of Walter being a meth dealer, he acts on his feelings for her and the two begin an affair. His attempts in convincing her to move in with him ultimately proved unsuccessful.

After Skyler comes clean to Walter White concerning her current relationship to Ted, Walt becomes enraged and unsuccessfully attempts to confront Ted at Beneke Fabricators. (" I.F.T. ",  " Green Light ")

Their affair comes to an abrupt end when Skyler spends most of her time supporting Marie in the hospital following Hank Schrader 's shooting. She never returns to work for Beneke Fabricators afterwards. (" Kafkaesque ")

Season 4 [ ]

The IRS catches up with the irregularities in the Beneke Fabricators books, which not only threatens to bankrupt Ted but could also send him to prison. He tries to get help from Skyler, who now runs the car wash , but she refuses. When Ted meets with the IRS , Skyler unexpectedly shows up dressed provocatively. She performs a ruse that makes the IRS agent conclude that Ted's bookkeeping problems are due to her ignorance. Ted is saved from jail assuming he pays $617,000 in back taxes and fines, which is more money than he has. (" Bug ")

Miraculously, Ted is called to Saul Goodman 's office, where he is presented with a windfall from his "Great Aunt Birgid's" Luxembourg estate, of which Mr. Beneke is the sole remaining heir. Ted doesn't recognize the name but is amazed to have some good news for a change; when Saul produces the figure of $621,552.33, he signals his acquiescence with a bemused "Wow!" Ted then proceeds to take the money and immediately lease a new, expensive Mercedes and make preparations to reopen Beneke Fabricators. Unknown to him, the money is actually from Skyler and is meant for paying his IRS debt. (" Salud ")

4x11 unconscious Ted

An unconscious Ted.

When Skyler tells him that she was the source of the money (she uses the Walt gambling story), Ted tries to return the money supposedly because it's the right thing to do, but possibly because he's blackmailing Skyler for an even greater sum when he openly claims settling the debt will not prevent him from going bankrupt (" Crawl Space ") . Skyler contacts Saul for help, who sends his "A-Team", Huell Babineaux and Patrick Kuby , to Ted's home to strong arm him into writing a check to the IRS and then keep him company at home for a few days until the check clears. Panicked, Ted runs past Huell in an effort to escape from the house, but trips on an area rug, crashing headfirst into an island counter. It appears that he may have broken his neck, but as of the end of the episode, his status is unconfirmed. Later in the episode Walter returns to Saul Goodman's office, where Huell and Kuby are already present. Upon seeing Walter, Saul exclaims "How the hell did you find out so quickly?" implying that Ted may be dead or severely injured. (" Crawl Space ")

Season 5 [ ]

5x1 Ted in hospital

Ted in the hospital.

Saul Goodman stops by the A1A Car Wash to tell Skyler White that there's something wrong with Ted. Skyler - who doesn't know about his earlier accident - first assumes that he has died, upon which Saul explains that Ted has actually woken up from his coma. Skyler visits Ted at the hospital and finds him in very poor health due to his severe neck injury. He promises her that he will not say a word of what has happened to him to anybody. (" Live Free or Die ")

Later on, doctors predict Ted will never walk again after receiving a concussion and fracturing several vertebrae. (" Hazard Pay ")

Personality [ ]

Ted4

Ted is laid-back, sincere, and very charming - he appears to have not wished to do anything criminal, but merely wished to protect his father's business and its employees. Failing to understand the gravity of his situation, he believes that, if people understood his supposed lack of agency in the matter, they might be willing to look the other way. Ted proves to be very supportive to Skyler, being nonjudgmental and lending a sympathetic ear when she was going through marital troubles with Walt.

During the IRS tax fraud incident, he insisted to Skyler that he would pay the money back just as soon as he got back on his feet, but this may have simply been lies to get her to stop bothering him about it, as is evidenced when he tries to start up the business again and leases a new Mercedes (a 2009 SL550). Despite Skyler's best attempts to help Ted pay off his debt, he remained stubborn and refused to pay as settling the debt would not prevent him from going bankrupt and even seemed to try and blackmail Skyler for an even greater sum to solve all his problems. Eventually his greed and stubbornness resulted in him becoming permanently disabled.

In spite of this, Ted may not entirely be a bad person. His actions were partly driven by his desire to not ruin the lives of his daughters, whom he appears to care about deeply, as well as the livelihoods of his employees, whom he considered like family.

What Happens to Ted in Breaking Bad?

Breaking Bad has many characters that left an impact on fans. But one of its most important and unique was left behind. But Why?

  • Breaking Bad's Ted Beneke is another corrupt figure in Skyler's life who is involved in an affair and fraud.
  • Ted attempts to evade the payments he owes but suffers a terrible accident.
  • Ted's fate is a reminder of how much chaos the White family has sewn as Heisenberg's empire grows.

The Breaking Bad franchise is such a rich world that has captured the imagination of audiences since it was first introduced. Bringing in the prequel series Better Call Saul and the sequel movie El Camino, the Albuquerque-based crime drama has proven itself to be an all-time classic and a quality example of the golden age of TV. There are some standout figures from across these series, but this world truly comes to life thanks to the depth of the supporting cast.

Without those supporting players, the likes of Walter, Skyler, Jesse, and Saul wouldn't have anyone to have conflicts with. Ted Beneke is a vital part of the show, for instance, and has an important role to play in Skyler and Walter's relationship. Not only does Ted become a catalyst for further tension between the couple, but he also acts as a warning sign to all those who may cross Heisenberg and his family. Ted is thus an excellent example of a supporting character that plays his role to perfection. But fans aren't often too sure about what happened to the businessman.

Ted is a Vital But Often Forgotten Supporting Character

One of skyler's key arcs brought ted into the show.

  • Ted first appeared in Season 2, Episode 7 of Breaking Bad .

How Skyler White Became Unpopular in the Breaking Bad Fandom

Ted was initially introduced as a former employer of Skyler. She begins working with him again in his family's business, and the two have an affair. This 'romance' is partially fueled by Skyler's disgust with Walter, who becomes an increasingly detestable personality in her life. Ted isn't squeaky clean either, though, and was involved in fraudulent activity after his company got into financial trouble. Much like Walter White, another man in Skyler's life found it best to fix his problems with criminality. Skyler even gave Ted the money to pay the government, but Ted had other ideas. Despite Skyler putting up Walt's cash to pay Ted's tax so that she wouldn't be drawn into this conspiracy, considering it was her who kept Ted's books, Ted instead uses the cash to buy a new car and attempts to reopen his business. There's a constant debate over which is better, Better Call Saul or Breaking Bad , but it is elaborate subplots like these that bring in unexpected conflicts that lead to bigger payoffs in the latter.

The affair between the two is a separate issue completely, with Ted almost feeling the wrath of Walter White. Indeed, Walter comes to confront the entrepreneur over the affection that had been built between Skyler and her boss. However, Walter doesn't exactly get what he wants and makes a fool of himself in the process. Ted is an interesting foil for Walter, a suave leader who turns out to be just as crooked. The affair between the two does eventually come to an end and Ted's role continues to diminish as the show goes on. But his final fate is totally unexpected and links back to his debts and the money that he had taken from Skyler. Nothing in Breaking Bad is ever forgotten, and, for Ted, that's a terrible thing. Skyler White is one of Breaking Bad's most hated characters, but even she would not wish Ted's fate upon him.

Ted's Fate Was Unexpected

It looked like an accident because it was an accident.

  • Ted last appeared in Season 5, Episode 1 of Breaking Bad .

The Story Of Breaking Bad Needs To End

Skyler is extremely unhappy that Ted did not do what she asked of him and decided to take matters into her own hands. She asks Saul to set up a payment, with the lawyer sending Huell and Kuby to force Ted into paying the money to the IRS. They ambush him at his house and get him to sign a check. Although he pretends he has no knowledge of the money, staying slippery until the very end, the duo doesn't take any of his excuses. He relinquishes, putting pen to paper despite his better judgment. But it seems he still has a plan in place to get away and block the check from ever being paid, allowing him to survive the ordeal and keep his money. In theory, it's a smart plan, but it also shows that Ted was corrupt to his core, just like so many others in Skyler's life. However, at the very last moment, it all goes very wrong. Saul Goodman had asked his guys to sort Ted out, but Ted had a little accident, and that's not doublespeak. Just like so many other times in the rise of Heisenberg , things get very chaotic when there's money at stake.

In a last effort, Ted jumps up from the couch and runs as fast as possible. He trips, falls, and smashes into a table, oranges cascading down his back. There's a terrifying crunch, and he lays still, aside from a few twitches. It seems that he has done himself real damage, and Saul only tells Skyler that something happened to Ted, with her assuming that he has died. What actually happened was Ted broke his neck and was in a coma for some time. When he awoke, he could have been a serious threat to Skyler, Saul, and perhaps even Walter White himself. But Ted was so scared about what had happened to him and what could happen to his family that he said that he would never reveal any of the information he had. His secrets would die with him; he would stick to the story that he had an accident, and indeed, if he opened his mouth, it may well be that he would suffer a worse fate. Breaking Bad was a hit series because of its attention to detail , but some fans might not totally remember why Ted's nuanced end to his story was quite so important.

Ted's Future Was Set in Stone

He was never going to talk.

  • Ted does not make an appearance in Better Call Saul or El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie.

Why Jane's Death In Breaking Bad Still Haunts Us

After the visit to the hospital, where Skyler finds Ted in bed, attached to all kinds of medical equipment after fighting for his life, the character doesn't really come up again. Despite hopes that his story could continue in spinoffs like Better Call Saul or El Camino, Breaking Bad is where Ted's narrative lived and died. The character was no longer relevant, which is a perfect sendoff for him. He came into Skyler's life, and was used and disposed of much like so many other people that enter into the Whites' circle. Just like so many others in Albuquerque, Ted spoke to the corruption that hid beneath the surface. But he was also someone who now lived in constant fear of what could happen to him as the Heisenberg empire grew. Audiences never heard from Ted again because he never spoke again, living his life in fear, perhaps even after Walter White died and Skyler White was investigated. Ted knew the likes of Saul Goodman were out there someone, and it's likely he spent the rest of his life in denial about the truth of his accident.

Although the Breaking Bad story might not be finished yet , Ted's definitely is. The character may never walk again and probably has to face up to his debts, too. After going through criminal proceedings, he would have spent his days unable to move like he once could, afraid to go back into the world of business and scared for his family. It's a dark shadow that Heisenberg has left in his wake, and Ted is a classic example of how Walter White's initial choice led to so many lives being impacted. Skyler involved Ted in their lives again, and, for the businessman, the decision to rehire her was probably the worst mistake of his life. Perhaps if Saul hadn't sent his men, things would have turned out differently, but then Walter still held a grudge against Ted so perhaps his fate is better than what could have happened! Ted ended up being a fraudulent figure, and another supporting character who fell victim to Breaking Bad's crime scene.

Breaking Bad

The Breaking Bad franchise consists of the television drama series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, as well as the film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. Exploring the desperate trials of a high school chemistry teacher turned drug lord and his former student/accomplice to the criminal enterprises of lawyer Saul Goodman, the Breaking Bad universe covers a timeline spanning the 1970s (through flashback scenes) through 2010.

Breaking Bad's Most Shocking Moment Homages The Godfather & Most Fans Missed It

Vito listens

While the oranges in "The Godfather" mean more than you think since they're a symbol of tragic things to come, the fruit is also ripe for the picking in a clever "Godfather" homage in the "Breaking Bad" Season 4 episode "Crawl Space."

"The Godfather" connection that you missed in the "Breaking Bad" episode involves Skyler White's (Anna Gunn) former boss and lover, Ted Beneke (Christopher Cousins). Ted rejects the idea of paying an IRS tax penalty of more than $617,000 because he believes it's dirty money that Skyler's husband, Walter (Bryan Cranston), won gambling, and that he can get a better deal with the IRS. Knowing her husband's methamphetamine operation would be in jeopardy because she's cooked Ted's books and laundered Walter's money, Skyler turns to their lawyer, Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) for a solution.

As such, Saul sends bodyguard Huell (Lavell Crawford) and a hired hand, Kuby (Bill Burr) to visit Ted at his home to intimidate him into writing the IRS the check. While running from the scene, Ted trips over a rug and slides head first into a cabinet — the impact of which jars a bowl of oranges sitting atop of it, with some landing by Ted on the floor.

"Everybody likes to find these things that mean, 'Oh, a character is going to die,'" producer Thomas Schnauz told the "Breaking Bad Insider Podcast." "The oranges are from 'The Godfather.' We did that with Ted Beneke in 'Breaking Bad.' He runs and trips and knocks over a bowl of oranges and basically breaks his neck and he's put out of commission."

Orange is the new Bad

Scenes with oranges in "The Godfather" are a huge part of "The Godfather" lore. There are oranges present in the scene where defiant Hollywood studio boss Jack Woltz (John Marley) rejects Tom Hagen's (Robert Duvall) offer through Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) to cast singer Johnny Fontane (Al Martino) in his next film for a favor in return. As payback, Woltz finds the decapitated head of his prize horse, Khartomb, in his bed.

In another scene, Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando) is buying oranges from a street vendor in New York City, which is followed by an assassination attempt. Perhaps most notably, Vito is eating oranges in his garden before suffering a fatal heart attack in front of his young grandson, Anthony (Anthony Gounaris).

While Ted Beneke didn't suffer the tragic fate Khartomb or Vito did, his accident was fairly severe and life changing. In the Season 5 premiere episode "Live Free or Die," Skyler visits Ted in the hospital after he wakes from a coma to find her former lover disheveled. Apparently looking to avert any future tragedies, Ted promises Skyler in the scene that he will never reveal the truth of the events leading up the accident.

Whether it was by pure happenstance or deliberate, "The Godfather" scene with Woltz contains another startling similarity to Ted's "Breaking Bad" storyline. Ted owed the IRS over $600,000 — roughly the same amount Woltz told Hagen that he paid for paid for Khartomb.

ted beneke trips

was Skyler's former boss whom she worked for as his head accountant. Skyler realizes that he was cooking the books for the company in order to avoid bankruptcy. Skyler later goes into labor and since Walt wasn't around he drove her to the hospital. When Skyler finds out that Walt was cooking meth, she tries to get back at him by starting an affair with Ted. The affair ends when Hank is shot and Skyler leaves work to help him recover.

Ted manages to locate Skyler at the Car wash and tries to ask for help because the IRS is investigating his actions and he could get arrested and go bankrupt. Skyler realizes this could ruin her life as well because the IRS have authority to audit anyone related to the case and since she signed the accounting reports, her financial information would be exposed and Walt's meth manufacturing would be uncovered. During Ted's interview with the IRS, Skyler shows up as an incompetent airhead who was hired for her looks only and fools the IRS agent into dropping charges if Ted manages to pay up to $600,000 in back taxes.

Skyler launders the money to Ted by having Saul claim his Great Aunt in Luxembourg left it to him in her will. Ted however wastes it by buying a new car and plans to reopen the business. Skyler confronts Ted about it and reveals she gave him the money. She then gets Saul's men to force him to sign over the money in order to pay his taxes. Ted tries to escape but trips on his rug and crashes his head. It's unknown what happened to him.

It's revealed in Season 5 that Ted ended up hospitalized with severe neck trauma. He has to keep his head in a huge protective brace and his head was completely shaved. He promises Skyler that he won't tell anyone about what happened.

Breaking Bad

Screen Rant

What happened to ted beneke after breaking bad.

Ted Beneke briefly appeared in Breaking Bad's final season but his fate was left ambiguous. Here's what actor Christopher Cousins theorized about Ted.

  • Ted Beneke's financial fraud and affair with Skyler represent his downfall in Breaking Bad, ending in a bizarre accident.
  • Actor Christopher Cousins suggests Ted's tragic life post-coma, filled with fear and isolation due to the White family's influence.
  • Ted's uncertain fate in Breaking Bad adds to the show's effectiveness by illustrating the danger of getting entangled with the White family.

Given his abrupt exit from the series after playing a significant role, there was some confusion over what happened to Ted Beneke (Christopher Cousins) on Breaking Bad . The character made his series debut midway through season 2, and as Breaking Bad progressed, Ted's presence was clouded in drama – namely, tax fraud and his relationship with Skyler (Anna Gunn), the wife of Walter White (Bryan Cranston). However, the character met an unexpected and bizarre fate which ended his role in the series.

Ted was president and owner of Beneke Fabricators in Breaking Bad . He inherited the business from his father, but when he took over, he encountered financial issues. To keep the business afloat, Ted committed serious tax fraud. Skyler, who worked at Beneke Fabricators years before the events of the series, got her job back as the bookkeeper. Ted, now a divorcee, always had his sights set on Skyler, and the two eventually started an affair after Skyler found out about Walt's crimes .

Ted's Strange Arc On Breaking Bad

After Skyler learned of the tax fraud he was committing, Ted tried to get her help in cooking the books. In Breaking Bad season 4 , however, the IRS caught up with the company's tax fraud. If convicted, Ted would have gone bankrupt with the threat of prison time. To avoid a stiff penalty, Ted was required to pay over $600,000 in back taxes and fines. Skyler provided him with money to do so, but rather than use this money to take care of the problem, Ted refused.

With the help of shady lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk), Skyler sent two bodyguards to force Ted into signing a check to the IRS. He then panicked and tried to escape before tripping on a rug, suffering a severe neck injury. There was a belief that Ted died, but Skyler visited him in the hospital during season 5 where it is confirmed that he is partially paralyzed . He also suspects Skyler planned his injury and, out of fear, ensures her that he will not reveal any of her secrets to the police.

Christopher Cousins Had An Idea For Ted's Fate In Breaking Bad

The actor suggests ted's life was ruined by his involvement with the white family.

Ted was in pretty bad shape after waking up from his coma. According to actor Christopher Cousins (via Mashable ), there was a common belief that Ted remained fearful of the White family for the rest of his life , especially when Walt's many murders on Breaking Bad became public knowledge. The actor theorized that Ted became a quadriplegic following his accident, and he was left stuck in a bed and isolated. If he did clear up his fraud with the IRS, he probably lost his company and most of his other possessions.

Ted's fate was one of the loose ends that were never tied up in Breaking Bad or the subsequent spinoff stories. Once Walt's illegal activities made national news, it's possible that Ted felt comfortable talking to investigators. More than likely, his past with Skyler remained a secret since he probably wanted to stay as far away from her as possible. Skyler herself wasn't a physical threat, but she had enough connections to ruthless figures, and Ted was well aware of that.

10 Best Breaking Bad Episodes, Ranked

Ted beneke's uncertain fate makes breaking bad better, ted was another casualty of walt's ambition.

The fact that it's never made clear what happened to Ted Beneke after his last Breaking Bad appearance actually helps make the show as effective as it is. Many Breaking Bad side characters like Ted have their lives irrevocably ruined by the White family, which helps illustrate just how dangerous it is to become entangled with them.

What happens to Ted especially paints Skyler in a poor light as she begins her affair partially to get back at Walt only to ruin Ted's life to protect Walt later on. The tragic (but open-ended) fates of Ted and others throughout Breaking Bad 's first few seasons also help save the real main-cast catastrophes for the end while maintaining tension and stakes throughout.

Better Call Saul Should Have Had A Ted Beneke Cameo

Ted was one of the most notable breaking bad characters not to appear in the spinoff.

The Breaking Bad universe continued with Better Call Saul, providing new context to several characters yet sadly, there was no involvement from Ted Beneke. The show introduced some excellent new characters into the universe, including Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn) and Nacho Varga (Michael Mando), but there were also plenty of familiar faces showing up.

Along with Saul Goodman, Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), and Mike Ehrmantraut (Jonathan Banks) serving as main characters, Breaking Bad characters like Tuco Salamanca (Raymond Cruz), Huell Babineaux (Lavell Crawford), and Hank Schrader (Dean Norris) appeared in cameos. Walter White and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) even showed up in flashbacks in the final season.

With Better Call Saul 's timeline jumping between before and after the events of Breaking Bad , there were a lot of opportunities to at least feature a cameo from Ted Beneke. He could have been shown crossing paths with Saul Goodman/Jimmy McGill or Kim Wexler, seeking legal advice at one point or another . It could also have shown him after his accident, or even showing up at Jimmy's trial, putting the blame on him and his colleagues. With so many Breaking Bad alumni featured on Better Call Saul , not having Ted Beneke feels like a missed opportunity.

Breaking Bad

The Godfather Connection You Missed In Breaking Bad

Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in Breaking Bad

Francis Ford Coppola's mafia epic "The Godfather" is canonically regarded as one of the greatest films of all time. Due to its legendary status, it has been parodied, referenced, and homaged in popular culture throughout the past fifty years since its release. Vince Gilligan's hit AMC drama "Breaking Bad" is just one of the many works that include an allusion to the renowned gangster saga.

Much like "The Godfather," "Breaking Bad" chronicles the rise and fall of a corrupt empire and a protagonist who climbs to a high-ranking position of criminal power. Both Michael Corleone and Walter White use their intelligence to strengthen their illegal businesses. Consumed by a lust for power and control, they end up destroying what motivated their success in the first place: their relationships with their wives and family. Not only does "Breaking Bad" draw from themes of "The Godfather," it also features one of the trilogy's most prevalent symbols.

Oranges Symbolize Death

In "The Godfather," oranges are a harbinger of doom, often seen before a character's death or violent moment. There are three notable instances in the first film where oranges appear. When Tom Hagen has dinner with Jack Woltz, a bowl of oranges sit on the table; the next morning, Woltz awakens to see the severed head of his prized horse in his bed. After Vito Corleone purchases a bag of oranges from a street vendor, his enemies shoot him in an assassination attempt. And at the end of the film, Vito puts an orange slice in his mouth to entertain his grandchild just before dying of a heart attack.

During the final scene of the "Godfather" trilogy, Michael Corleone drops an orange at the moment of his death. Oranges are also seen in "Breaking Bad" during the season 4 episode "Crawl Space," in which Ted Beneke — Skyler's boss, who is using her accounting skills to commit fraud — is confronted by Saul's henchmen to sign a check to the IRS. Ted attempts to run from them and trips on an area rug, crashing head-first into his kitchen counter, which leaves him paralyzed. An overhead shot shows the oranges that fall onto the lower half of Ted's immobilized body. "Breaking Bad" producer, writer, and director Thomas Schnauz confirmed this was a deliberate callback to "The Godfather" on "The Breaking Bad Insider Podcast" (via CheatSheet ), after oranges made a comeback in the prequel series "Better Call Saul."

"Everybody likes to find these things that mean oh, a character is going to die. The oranges are from 'The Godfather.' We did that with Ted Beneke in 'Breaking Bad.' He runs and trips and knocks over a bowl of oranges and basically breaks his neck and he's put out of commission."

At the start of the "Breaking Bad" season 5 premiere, a grizzled Walt returns from hiding to his house which has been abandoned — windows smashed, walls scrawled with graffiti, empty swimming pool being used by skateboarders — and greets his neighbor Carol as if everything is normal; she drops her grocery bag in shock, sending her oranges and other goods down the driveway. By the end of this season and the series as a whole, Walt dies of gunshot wounds amongst the only thing that has ever made him truly happy: meth, his baby blue.

The Color Orange Has a Deeper Meaning

In his book The Godfather Legacy , author Harlan Lebo writes:

For [production designer] Dean Tavoularis, oranges were simply another carefully chosen compliment to otherwise somberly dressed sets. 'We knew this film wasn't going to be about bright colors, and oranges make a nice contrast,' said Tavoularis. 'I don't remember anybody saying, Hey, I like oranges as a symbolic message.'

The brightly-colored oranges stand out and add some warmth to the darker tones of "The Godfather," but they also have a deeper meaning. Their pop of sunny color against grim surroundings immediately draws the eye and makes the viewer take notice of them as an unsettling warning of catastrophe. In "The Godfather" scene depicting Vito's attempted execution, the spilled oranges symbolize how Vito's loss of power causes his family to collapse and be torn apart. For "Breaking Bad," oranges signify how Walt's devious actions topple the lives of everyone around him.

As  Looper  observes, colors "play a key role" in "Breaking Bad," often indicating specific aspects of characters' personalities and emphasizing the narrative's themes. Looper observes that "orange represents danger and anything that's a threat" to Walt. Hank frequently wears orange because of his role as both a family member and DEA agent, and the color also foreshadows his eventual death. Orange becomes associated with Ted because if the authorities discover Skyler's part in his financial coverups, Heisenberg will be apprehended. Much like "The Godfather," orange in "Breaking Bad" not only draws attention visually, but thematically symbolizes death or oncoming despair.

Ted Beneke: Breaking Bad character profile

Ted Beneke: A Deep Dive into Moral Ambiguity and AccountabilityIn the acclaimed television series Breaking Bad, one character that often stimulates intense discussion among viewers is Ted Beneke. Ted, played brilliantly by Christopher Cousins, is a complex and morally ambiguous character who challenges our notions of right and wrong. In this article, we will delve into Ted's psyche and examine the theoretical underpinnings of his behavior. But fear not, dear reader, as we will navigate these high-minded concepts in an approachable and easy-to-understand manner.Ted Beneke's journey is intertwined with the moral landscape of Breaking Bad. At first glance, Ted appears to be a simple character—a businessman entangled in financial shenanigans. But as the show progresses, we witness the layers of Ted's personality slowly unravel, revealing a man grappling with his own moral compass. Ted's actions raise thought-provoking questions about accountability, integrity, and the consequences of compromising our values.Let us begin by exploring the concept of moral ambiguity, which lies at the heart of Ted's character. Moral ambiguity refers to situations or characters that do not fall into clear-cut categories of good or evil. Ted exemplifies this ambiguity through his actions. On one hand, he presents himself as a family man, devoted to his wife and children. But on the other hand, he engages in unethical financial practices, creating an irreparable chain of events.Ted's moral ambiguity stems from a sense of moral relativism—a belief that moral truth is subjective and situation-dependent. This theory suggests that there are no absolute moral principles, and right and wrong are determined by the context in which one finds oneself. Such relativism can lead individuals like Ted to rationalize their actions, blurring the lines between right and wrong. It is through this lens that we can begin to understand Ted's decision to embezzle funds from his own company. However, Ted's battle with moral accountability does not end with his financial improprieties. As the show progresses, we witness Ted grappling with guilt and a desire to amend his mistakes. This raises intriguing questions about the nature of personal responsibility. Can one truly redeem oneself for past misdeeds, or are we forever haunted by our moral transgressions?Ted's journey forces us to confront the concept of moral luck. This idea suggests that one's moral character is shaped not only by personal choices but also by external factors beyond one's control. Ted's financial predicament and subsequent evasion of consequences can be attributed, in part, to the chance of his circumstances. Does this mean he is free from blame, or is he still morally accountable for his actions? The answer is far from black and white. It is through the character of Ted that Breaking Bad challenges our preconceived notions of morality. The show demonstrates that even seemingly minor characters have complex inner lives, capable of drastic moral shifts. Ted Beneke serves as a reminder that moral failings are not limited to those in the spotlight but can occur within the ordinary fabric of society. As we delve deeper into Ted's psyche, we must also acknowledge the role of external influences on his moral decisions. Ted's involvement with the show's anti-hero, Walter White, exposes him to a world of criminality and deception. Ted's descent into ethical compromise could be seen as a result of the influence exerted upon him, raising broader questions about the contagious nature of corruption. In conclusion, Ted Beneke's character in Breaking Bad provides a rich tapestry of moral ambiguity and accountability. Through Ted's journey, we are confronted with challenging concepts such as moral relativism, personal responsibility, moral luck, and the influence of external factors on our decisions. Breaking Bad forces us to question the black and white nature of morality, reminding us that even the most seemingly ordinary characters are capable of complex moral transformations. So, as we bid farewell to Ted Beneke, let us ponder the significance of his role in Breaking Bad. Let us reflect on the questions he raises and the uncomfortable truths he embodies. And let us remember that in the world of Breaking Bad, nobody is exempt from the consequences of their actions, no matter how morally ambiguous they may be.

A superfan visits tons of Breaking Bad locations

Albuquerque has famously served as the backdrop to Breaking Bad since 2008, and because they've shot all over town (many characters have also been shot all over town... RIP Combo), it's easy to run into famous locations from the show. The BaD tour is a 3.5hr trolley ride all over the city hosted by two dudes chock-full of show trivia and personality, and here's just a tiny bit of what you'll see...

Hop on this trolley, and as it drives you around town, expect to be regaled with behind-the-scenes info from the tour guides, one of whom helped pick locations for the show in a previous gig.

Ted Beneke's house from Breaking Bad

This is where that creep Ted Beneke lives, and it's one of the houses they used for both interior and exterior shots. You'll learn later that isn't always the case. Remember that scene where he hits his head? It went down inside those four very large walls.

Walter White's house from Breaking Bad

Probably the most famous house from the show is the White residence, and it's where many classic scenes went down. Fun fact: for the scene where Bryan Cranston gets mad and hurls a pizza on the roof, he threw it perfectly in one take. And while the interior of the house was not shown on the show, the pool in the back got used fairly often.

Jesse's house from Breaking Bad

Jesse's house was a cook site once upon a time, but in the real world, the owner once got 4 G's for every day the production team shot the exterior of his home... as opposed to Jesse's posse, which is mainly made up of 3 G's. Shouts to Badger!

In one memorable montage, the Dog House Drive In was where Jesse sold blue magic to some addicts while catchy, upbeat music played in the background and neon lights flashed behind him. Fun!

parking lot where Combo got shot in Breaking Bad

Some of the more exciting scenes in the show took place right here, as it's the spot where Combo was gunned down, and where Walt ran over the gang members with his car. The most badass character in the show might be that indestructible Pontiac Aztek.

Another parking lot?! F*** yeah! This is the one where Walt did donuts in a car before blowing it the hell up. It's a quick drive from the soundstages where the show was based. And we're going to give you a peek inside...

Here's a look at one of the enormous soundstages in the same studio complex where the show was shot. They don't give tours to the public, and sadly all the sets were broken down when production wrapped in April 2013, so this is as close as you'll get to seeing the original sets. Tons of movies have also been shot on this stage, including the majority of The Avengers . Fitting, because in the 2nd half of Season 5, Jesse might be out to (SPOILER ALERT!!!) take some vengeance on Walt. Tune in and find out.

Ted Beneke, a character woven into the fabric of “Breaking Bad,” initially provided comic relief through his tax evasion woes and his clandestine affair with Skyler White. However, as the series evolved, Ted’s circumstances took a much graver turn. In the show’s fifth and final season, Ted Beneke’s life spiraled into a dire situation, leading to his eventual tragic end. This article delves into Ted’s fate within the Breaking Bad universe and the harrowing conclusion to his story.

Ted Beneke, the former owner of Beneke Fabricators and a recurring presence in Breaking Bad, confronted significant challenges in the fifth season. A severe neck injury, sustained during an accident, left him hospitalized and confined to a massive protective brace, his head clean-shaven. Despite speculations, there is no concrete evidence linking Ted to Walt’s paternity.

Ted’s life took a dark turn when he was inadvertently shot by Skyler White in a case of mistaken identity. Suffering from neck pain, Ted had already experienced a near-fatal accident. In Season 5, his precarious health and legal troubles, tied to an IRS investigation due to his embezzlement to cover medical bills, remained unresolved. His fate remained a compelling mystery, leaving viewers with unanswered questions.

The Paralyzing Accident

Ted Beneke’s life took a dramatic turn when he became paralyzed in a car crash following a business trip. A rear-end collision involving his car and a semi-truck led to a violent collision with a bridge, resulting in Ted’s paralysis. The exact cause of the semi-truck’s sudden stop remains a mystery, but it is widely believed that the truck driver may have been distracted or fallen asleep at the wheel. Ted’s injuries were severe, including a spinal cord injury that left him reliant on a wheelchair and a respirator for breathing.

Ted’s fate remained shrouded in ambiguity since his last appearance in Season 4. As an IRS investigation loomed over his company, Ted’s uncertain health status left many questions unanswered. The legal implications surrounding his company added layers of intrigue to the show’s narrative. Ted’s future, both in terms of his health and culpability, remained uncertain, adding complexity to the evolving storyline.

Ted’s Hospitalization

Ted’s hospitalization in Season 5 resulted from the severe neck trauma he suffered. His appearance drastically changed, with a shaved head and the need for a protective brace to aid his recovery. This transformation mirrored Ted’s character arc, as he went from a confident businessman to a physically and emotionally vulnerable individual.

  • The accident that led to Ted’s neck injury served as a turning point in his life. It symbolized the consequences of his actions and the price he paid for his fraudulent activities. Ted’s once-charming demeanor gave way to a more subdued and introspective persona as he grappled with his physical limitations;
  • The protective brace he wore not only confined his movement but also became a metaphorical shackle, representing the burden of his guilt and the weight of his mistakes. It served as a constant reminder of the choices he had made and the path that had led him to this unfortunate predicament;
  • Ted’s hospitalization added another layer of complexity to the character dynamics in “Breaking Bad.” His vulnerability elicited a range of emotions from the audience, from sympathy to frustration, as viewers witnessed his struggle to come to terms with the consequences of his actions.

Ultimately, Ted’s appearance post-injury and his journey toward recovery were powerful visual elements that underscored the show’s exploration of morality, accountability, and transformation. His physical transformation paralleled the transformation of the show’s central characters, making him a compelling and memorable figure in the “Breaking Bad” universe.

Ted’s Legal Troubles in Season 4

In Breaking Bad’s fourth season, Ted Beneke encountered a series of significant challenges. Following a near-fatal car accident, Ted resorted to embezzling funds from his own company to cover medical expenses. However, his actions did not escape the notice of the IRS, leading to charges of tax fraud and money laundering. Additionally, his ex-wife, Skyler White, exposed his illegal activities to the IRS, ultimately resulting in his arrest. Ted was forced to accept a plea deal, which sentenced him to six months of house arrest and community service. Despite his association with the family business, Theodore Beneke Fabricators, and his position as the President, Ted’s relationship with Skyler White became strained, with an ill-advised attempt to kiss her when she was a young employee at the firm. Throughout his appearances in the series, Ted’s character underwent significant transformations, including his portrayal in Season 5 with a severe neck injury that did not conclusively lead to his recovery.

Unraveling the Paternity Mystery

While the series hinted at Ted Beneke possibly being Walt Jr.’s father, with Walt’s engagement to Skyler and Ted serving as his best man, it was only in Season 5 that Walt Jr. definitively stated, “You’re my father.” The tension and intrigue surrounding Ted’s potential paternity added depth to the storyline, ultimately confirming Walter White as the biological father. Ted remained a minor figure in Walter Jr.’s life.

  • Ted Beneke’s journey in “Breaking Bad” is a testament to the series’ complex characters and intricate storytelling. His character’s transformation, legal troubles, health issues, and the mystery surrounding his fate contribute to the show’s rich narrative tapestry, leaving viewers with questions and curiosity about his ultimate destiny;
  • As Ted’s character evolved from a smooth-talking businessman to a morally conflicted individual, he became emblematic of the ethical dilemmas faced by many in the “Breaking Bad” universe. His fraudulent activities and the IRS investigation portrayed the blurred lines between right and wrong, good and bad, which were central themes in the series. Ted’s eventual disability served as a stark reminder of the consequences of his actions and choices.

Overall, Ted Beneke’s role in “Breaking Bad” added depth and complexity to the show’s ensemble of characters, contributing to the series’ lasting impact on television storytelling. His journey, marked by personal and professional turmoil, resonates as a cautionary tale within the larger narrative of Walter White’s transformation and the moral ambiguity that defined the series.

Ted Beneke in Breaking Bad

Within the AMC series Breaking Bad, the character Ted Beneke, portrayed by actor Christopher Cousins, emerges as a pivotal supporting figure. As the owner of Beneke Fabricators, the same business where Walter White once toiled during the show’s second season, Ted initially appeared as a smooth-talking businessman. However, the layers of his character soon unfurled to reveal a more intricate persona. Ted grapples with his ambition, often marred by moments of cowardice, as he navigates the precarious terrain between his ethical principles and corporate responsibilities. His encounters frequently plunge him into challenging predicaments, particularly in his association with Walter White, who ultimately exploits Ted’s enterprise for money laundering. Despite his flaws, Ted demonstrates unwavering loyalty as a friend and exhibits resourcefulness as a businessman.

Ted Beneke, the former president and proprietor of Beneke Fabricators, once occupied a significant role in Walter White’s life. Their association extended beyond mere work, with Skyler White, Walter’s wife, becoming entangled in a romantic liaison with Ted. This affair sowed the seeds of a complex web of relationships and predicaments. Ted’s financial misdeeds, orchestrated to sustain his company and safeguard his employees’ jobs, culminated in a brush with the IRS. During Season 3, Skyler engaged in an affair with Ted as an act of retaliation against Walt, initiating a chain of events that would ultimately reshape their lives. Ted’s trajectory ultimately led to financial ruin and permanent disability, serving as a stark reminder of the consequences of greed and obstinacy.

Ted Beneke’s Legal Woes

In a desperate bid to salvage his company, Ted Beneke delved into significant fraudulent activities to stave off bankruptcy. Following Hank Schrader’s shooting incident, Skyler’s association with Ted became inextricably linked to legal scrutiny, as she served as the company’s bookkeeper. Ted’s financial misconduct was met with resistance, and despite Skyler’s best efforts, he adamantly refused to settle his staggering IRS tax debt. The collision of greed and obstinance thrust Ted into a position of permanent disability, a grim outcome that would haunt his future.

The intricate web of Ted’s financial misdeeds added a layer of complexity to the Breaking Bad narrative. It showcased the moral gray areas that the show’s characters navigated, blurring the lines between good and bad, right and wrong. Ted’s character became a symbol of the ethical dilemmas and consequences that permeated the series.

Ted’s story serves as a cautionary tale of the perils of financial deception and the cost of stubbornness. His ultimate fate, marked by disability and uncertainty, mirrored the broader themes of Breaking Bad, where choices carried irrevocable consequences. Ted’s character arc, though secondary in prominence, was a testament to the show’s ability to craft morally complex characters and explore the human condition within the framework of a high-stakes crime drama.

Ted Beneke’s Complex Story in Breaking Bad

Ted Beneke, a central character in Breaking Bad, was the proprietor of Beneke Fabricators, a business inherited from his family. His romantic involvement with Skyler White, Walter White’s wife, further complicated his life. However, Ted’s descent into turmoil was accelerated when his fraudulent activities, driven by a desperate desire to salvage his company, caught the attention of the IRS. This precipitated a clash between Ted and Walter White, with both embroiled in a high-stakes power struggle. Amidst these trials, Ted faced a violent assault that left him battered and forced to flee the country. Nevertheless, he found solace in reconciling with Skyler, marking a chapter of growth and reckoning for his character.

  • Ted Beneke, portrayed by Christopher Cousins, navigated a morally complex landscape within the Breaking Bad narrative. As the series unfolds, Ted Beneke remains a symbol of Breaking Bad’s skillful crafting of multifaceted characters and its exploration of the intricate facets of human nature within a morally ambiguous narrative. His story is a testament to the show’s enduring impact on television storytelling.

Ted Beneke and Skyler White’s Relationship

Skyler and Ted first got to know one another while she worked for him as a bookkeeper. It developed into an affair over time, adding to the narrative’ complexity and causing many turns and turns. When Skyler found out that Ted had been evading taxes, it set up some of the most exciting scenes in the show. However, their involvement did not stop there. Skyler used the money her husband made illegally from producing methamphetamine to anonymously provide Ted the money he needed to pay her IRS bill. Ted’s life would never be the same after making this choice because of unanticipated events.

The Downfall of Ted Beneke in Breaking Bad

Ted Beneke’s choice to pay his tax due with the money Skyler gave him marked the beginning of his direct connection to the criminal world. But rather than using the money to pay off his IRS debt, he foolishly utilized it to continue his opulent lifestyle. Ted refused to pay, so Skyler dispatched Huell Babineaux and Patrick Kuby, two of Walter’s associates, to persuade him. This set up a pivotal series of events where Ted tried to run away from them and stumbled on a rug, breaking his head severely.

Ted Beneke’s Fate in Breaking Bad

After his accident, Ted had significant spinal injury and was admitted to the hospital. Skyler later paid him a visit. He promised Skyler he wouldn’t tell where the money came from, but he was terrified and paralyzed. It seems surprising that Ted Beneke did not die in Breaking Bad. But he suffered serious injuries that prevented him from continuing in the show’s main plots. It was unclear what would happen to Ted when he was admitted to the hospital because the show didn’t provide viewers with any updates.

The Impact of Ted’s Storyline in Breaking Bad

Despite his character not returning after season four, Ted’s storyline serves as a cautionary tale highlighting the ruinous repercussions of becoming entangled with Walter White’s criminal enterprise. His fate was a pivotal turning point, indicating to Skyler the dangers they were inevitably facing. Consequently, Skyler’s viewpoint changed, and she became more involved in the illicit activities as she realised the severe implications of their actions.

Concluding Remarks on Ted in Breaking Bad

Despite not being the main character, Ted Beneke’s path revealed the cascading effects of poor choices and acts, which greatly influenced the central theme of Breaking Bad. The tragic and regretful conclusion of Ted serves as a sobering reminder of the far-reaching and detrimental effects of Walter White’s plunge into criminality.

What Happened to Ted Beneke? His Intriguing Legacy in Breaking Bad

What Happened to Ted Beneke

With the exception of one season, Ted Beneke (Christopher Cousins) appeared in every episode of Breaking Bad. However, his storyline ended abruptly, leaving viewers to wonder what happened to Ted Beneke. Midway through season 2, the character made his television debut.

As Breaking Bad went on, Ted’s presence was overshadowed by drama, including tax fraud and his connection with Skyler (Anna Gunn), Walter White’s (Bryan Cranston) wife. In the TV series Breaking Bad, Ted served as the company’s president and owner. His father left him the company, but when he took over, he ran into financial problems.

Ted committed severe tax fraud to keep the company running. Years before the series’ events, Skyler, a former employee of Beneke Fabricators, was hired back as the company’s bookkeeper. Ted, who is currently divorcing, had his heart set on Skyler from the beginning, and the two eventually began an affair.

There was also a theory that Walt Jr. (RJ Mitte), the child of Walt and Skyler, was fathered by Ted Beneke. We have the answers to What Happened To Ted Beneke in Breaking Bad in this article.

What Happened to Ted Beneke?

Ted attempted to enlist Skyler’s assistance in falsifying the books once she found out about the tax fraud he was conducting. But in Breaking Bad season 4, the IRS discovered the business’s tax evasion. Ted would have gone bankrupt and faced jail time if found guilty. Here is a post related to the season 5:

Ted had to pay back taxes and fines totaling more than $600,000 in order to avoid a severe penalty. Ted was given the cash to do so by Skyler, but he declined to do so instead of using the cash to solve the issue.

Ted was coerced into signing a check to the IRS by Skyler, who dispatched two bodyguards and the corrupt lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk). Then, in a fit of terror, he made an attempt to flee but tripped over a rug and broke his neck.

What Happened to Ted Beneke

Although it was thought that Ted had passed away, Skyler visited him in the hospital during season 5, and he made a commitment to keep all of her and her family’s secrets a secret. After emerging from his coma, Ted was in a pretty poor state.

It was widely believed, according to Cousins, that Ted was terrified of the White family for the remainder of his life, especially when Walt’s several m*rders on Breaking Bad came to light. The actor conjectured that Ted was left bedridden and alone after becoming a quadriplegic as a result of his injury.

He very likely lost his business and most of his other things if he did come clean about his fraud with the IRS. One of the unresolved plotlines in Breaking Bad and its numerous spinoff storylines involved Ted’s fate. Ted might have felt at ease speaking with investigators once Walt’s illicit acts gained widespread attention.

Here are some other stories that are the same as this one:

He probably kept his relationship with Skyler a secret since he wanted to avoid her as much as possible. Although Skyler wasn’t physically dangerous, Ted was well aware of the fact that she was connected to powerful people and could be a threat.

Who plays Ted in Breaking Bad? Character storyline and fate explored

C hristopher Cousins played Ted Beneke, in the second season of the critically acclaimed television series " Breaking Bad ". American actor Christopher Maher Cousins began his television career in 1986. He appeared in thirteen episodes of AMC's Breaking Bad as a guest.

The story of Breaking Bad revolves around Walter White, a chemistry teacher and a devoted father, who descends to a life of crime after being diagnosed with Stage 3 terminal lung cancer. Two years are allotted to him. He teams up with Jesse Pinkman, one of his old students, and together they rise to prominence, take on obstacles, and build a family-all while hiding from his DEA-affiliated brother-in-law, Hank.

Ted Beneke is an essential component of the Breaking Bad program and plays a significant part in the connection between Walter and Skyler. Ted not only becomes a source of more conflict for the couple Skyler and Walter White, but he also serves as a warning to everyone who would disagree with Heisenberg and his family.

Ted's involvement became more and more entwined with the major characters' dramatic plotlines as the series progressed, mostly centred upon tax fraud and his contentious relationship with Walter White's wife Skyler White.

Understanding Ted Beneke's role in Breaking Bad

Theodore "Ted" Beneke , inherited Beneke Fabricators from his father, Mr. Beneke, who is the former president and owner of the company. Ted was Skyler White's previous boss and short-term romantic companion.

Ted lets Skyler return to her previous position as his accountant in his company. Despite his long-standing attraction to Skyler, Ted does not pursue her until she returns in season three. Skyler has an affair with Ted to get even with Walt.

When Skyler notices discrepancies in the company's finances, Ted confesses to her that he has been committing tax fraud to keep the business afloat and save everyone's jobs.

Ted even receives money from Skyler to pay the government, but he has other plans. Since Skyler is the one who kept Ted's finances, she offers to put up Walt's money to pay Ted's tax so she wouldn't be involved in this plot.

However, Ted takes the money to buy a new automobile and tries to reopen his business.

How does Ted's story conclude in Breaking Bad ?

After learning about Ted's dishonest behaviour, Skyler made an effort to get her involved in falsifying the company's financial documentation.

But by the fourth season, they were under intense IRS surveillance . Ted was facing bankruptcy and jail time due to his mounting debt, which exceeded $600,000. Even when Skyler offered financial support, Ted's unyielding rejection caused things to get out of hand.

When Skyler runs out of choices, Saul sends two of his men, Kuby and Huell, to compel Ted Beneke to sign the IRS check, they even succeed in getting his signature.

But Ted tries to run away in a panic, tripping over a loose rug and colliding with a counter with his head.

Did Ted die in Breaking Bad ?

No, in Breaking Bad , Ted did not pass away. Ted suffered a fracture to his neck and went into a coma. He might have posed a significant risk to Skyler, Saul, and possibly even Walter White when he awoke.

Ted, however, declared he would never divulge any of the information he had because he was so terrified of what had happened to him and what might happen to his family.

His secrets would die with him; he would continue to tell the same narrative about having an accident. He would meet a more unfavourable end if he spoke.

Breaking Bad Season Premiere Review: Live Free Or Die (Season 5, Episode 1)

Image of Will Chadwick

WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS

Although this summer is all about The Dark Knight Rises dominating the big screen and receiving all of the attention, the most interesting and best piece of visual media happening in July is happening on the small screen with AMC’s Breaking Bad .

The world is about to get a whole lot more interesting as Walter White walks back into it. Last year, Breaking Bad  set a very, very high bar for television with its fourth season, a searingly brilliant game of chess spread across 13 episodes of mounting tension, brutal cliffhangers and one of the most deeply satisfying season finales any series has ever given us.

To recap, Gus is now dead and presumably it is Walt who claims the right to meth throne of the Albuquerque, after blowing up the former kingpin. As he darkly told Skyler in the last season, he is the one that knocks. But it came at a price and we watched our central protagonist turn into a super villain, as it was revealed that he held no bones about poisoning a child to get himself to safety.

And with the ever growing threat of a cancer that is growing inside of Walt and as his fate reaches further out of his grasp, he is now taking control in ways that most people on death’s door wouldn’t. The big question for Season 5 is where will Vince Gilligan and his amazing team of writers take us? Considering last year’s exceptional season, what can they do to up the stakes? Will this man, who only 46 episodes ago was a character who had our utmost sympathy, turn into Gus Mark 2 and become a vile, self serving antagonist? Will the cancer make a more violent return? What will Skyler do, now knowing what her husband is capable of?

So Walt reigns supreme and the relief for everyone is that Gus is dead, but Jesse and Walt still have work to do. First of all, they have some mess to clean up. With Gus now dead and being blown up with Hector Salamanca, the DEA now know how deep Fring was involved with the Mexican cartel and the Albuquerque drug scene. The now burnt down super lab is crawling with agents, including Hank, and everything has been totally decimated, but the fire hasn’t totally destroyed everything. Hank and Gomez notice some melted white plastic while investigating, which we know to be a camera.

So now Walt and Jesse must come up with another ingenious method of destroying the laptop, that stores the camera’s footage, while it remains locked up in police custody. Coming along to help them is Mike, who has now recovered from the shooting and agrees to help remove any trace that could link them all back to Gus.

Turns out the plan is to drive a highly charged magnet (which they buy from the scrapyard manager Old Joe, who destroyed the RV from Season 2), drive it in a large van outside the police station and turn it on, in hope of removing the evidence. Initially, this seems to work, but the van is left behind, inside the station, and while the laptop may have been destroyed, something else hasn’t. Everything from Gus’ office was bagged, including a picture frame. Due to the magnet, the frame was smashed and the picture shifted, revealing a piece of paper that has on it what looks to be a hidden list of personal contacts.

Meanwhile, Skyler isn’t sure what the hell to do. Her husband is now a very dangerous and potentially unstable man, the look of fear on her face every time Walt is in the room speaks a thousand words. But this isn’t the first thing on her mind… Do you remember Ted Beneke? Yeah… Ted’s not dead. The trip that we all thought killed Ted actually just gave him severe injuries. He’s now in hospital with a brace screwed into his head but can still remember everything. He promises not to tell anyone about the incident as long as Skyler pays the money he owes to the IRS.

In just three days, this Moscow itinerary takes in all the most iconic sights of this attraction-packed destination. After two and half days getting acquainted with the city, we’ve set time aside for you to explore Moscow your way and discover your own favourite hang-outs in a city overflowing with hidden treasures

3-Day Moscow Tour Highlights:

  • Panoramic Tour of Moscow: See Moscow beyond the postcard images on a private excursion by car through the city streets including a drive along the banks of the Moskva River. Visit the famous Bolshoi Theatre, pass by Gorky Park and the Novodevichy Convent, and admire the city from on high at the Sparrow Hill observation platform.
  • Moscow Historical City Centre Guided Walking Tour : Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of one of the world’s biggest metropolises and discover local haunts on foot, including the Red Square, the Kremlin and the multi-coloured domes of St Basil’s Cathedral.
  • Armory Chamber tour: Explore the endless treasures of this unique museum, displaying the wealth accumulated by Russian rulers from the 12th century until the October Revolution of 1917. Walking through the exhibition halls is a journey through the centuries.
  • Moscow Metro Tour : Go deep underground on a subway tour of the famous Moscow metro. The world’s deepest metro system is renowned for its palatial, art-adorned stations, complete with marble columns and chandeliers.

On your first day, you’ll be treated to a panoramic, drive-by tour of Moscow to get a feel for the immense scale of one of the world’s most rapidly developing urban centres. The city’s history unfolds in real-time as you pass lavish imperial mansions, solemn Soviet structures and luxurious modern shopping centres.

Day two kicks off exploring Moscow’s historic centre on foot, followed by a tour of the Kremlin, the seat of Russian power and political intrigue for centuries. Stand in the Red Square, surrounded by the stunning architecture as you hear stories of the people and events behind many of Moscow’s most iconic landmarks.

On your final day, we’ll head beneath the city for a tour of the Moscow Metro and its famously ornate underground stations. Art lovers should hit up one of Moscow’s many world-class galleries such as the Tretyakov State Gallery, the Pushkin Museum or Garage, Moscow’s cutting-edge contemporary art museum. History fans can follow a Soviet trail through the city including Stalin’s Bunker, while those seeking a more indulgent experience can browse trendy neighbourhoods like Kitay Gorod or shop for everything from fashion to kitsch souvenirs at the enchanting Izmaylovo Flea Market. Foodies can head to one of the countless speciality stores sampling vodka, caviar and chocolate.

If you only have a few days to spend in Moscow, this tour will ensure you make the most of your time in the city. Let the experts navigate you through this complex and occasionally overwhelming capital, giving you plenty of time to soak up the city’s most unmissable attractions.

Russia Moscow Tour

Day 1 Panoramic city tour

Welcome to the glorious capital of Russia, Moscow! You’ll be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your centrally located hotel.

After check-in and rest, meet your private guide at the hotel lobby for a comprehensive tour of Moscow by car. Visit the starkly contrasting Theatre Square to see the stunning Bolshoi Theatre, pass Tverskaya Street, the city’s main boulevard and home to the landmark Yeleseyevskiy Grocery Store.

You’ll enjoy a panoramic drive along the Moskva River, where a huge, controversial state of Peter the Great was erected. Pass by the legendary Gorky Park and the White House before a stop at the architecturally stunning Novodevichy Convent, and the observation platform at Sparrow Hills, for a bird’s eye view over this staggering megalopolis.

Day 2 Red Square and Kremlin

After breakfast at the hotel, your guide will take you on a walking tour of the historical city centre. Stroll through the Red Square, the hub of cultural life in Moscow, with its elaborate ‘stone flower’ fountain and fantasy-like St Basil’s Cathedral – a postcard-perfect symbol of the nation. Admire the grandiose façade of GUM, the city’s most luxurious shopping centre, and visit Alexander’s Garden, with its eternal flame and the chance to watch a changing of the guards.

Break for lunch before continuing on a tour of the Kremlin and Armoury Chamber, famous of its collection of tsarist fashion, with regalia such as jewel-encrusted crowns, orbs and sceptres as well as arms and armour, exotic gifts from the leaders of faraway lands, and an illustrious case of Imperial Faberge eggs.

As an option* spend an evening on a sumptuous dinner cruise, taking in the stunning sights and city lights of this mesmerising metropolis by night.

Day 3 Metro and Arbat Street

Start a day with a tour of Metro, stopping on the way to marvel at some of the most elaborately decorated stations of the world-famous Moscow subway system. Take a stroll along Old Arbat street - the most famous street in Moscow. Through the centuries Arbat used to be one of the most bohemian places in Moscow. Today Arbat is a promenade full of small cozy cafes and street life.

The afternoon is free for you to either enjoy the rest of the day on your own or choose among optional excursions to explore more of Moscow. Visit the Tretyakov Gallery or Pushkin State Museum to admire Russian art. Join locals for a stroll at the Gorky or VDNH park.

Visit beautiful Kolomeskoye Estate or Izmailovo Kremlin, or spend a day exploring the beautiful city of the Golden Ring (Russian province) - Sergiev Posad. In the evening you will be transferred to the airport for your departure to your next destination.

Customer

Lena, our guide in Moscow was excellent. She was very knowledgable and could answer any question we had for her. We liked that she could pick up on our interests and take us places we might not have thought of to go. When we realized that one of the places we had chosen to see would probably not be that interesting to us, she was able to arrange entry to the Diamond Fund and the Armoury for us. Riding the Metro with Lena was a real adventure and a lot of fun. In Saint Petersburg we found Anna well versed in the history of the Tsars and in the Hermitage collection. Arkady in Veliky Novgorod was a very good guide and answered all of our questions with ease. Novgorod was perhaps a long way to go for a day trip, but we did enjoy it. Vasily was a great driver to have and kept us safe with good humour and skill. We enjoyed ourselves so much, my daughter says she is already planning to return. We would both have no hesistation to recommend ExpresstoRussia to anyone we know.

Just wanted to let you know that My grandson Bruno and I couldn´t have been more pleased with our week in Moscow (6/15 - 6/21). We were absolutely enchanted with the whole experience, including getting lost a couple of times in the Metro during our free time. Although both our guides (both Eleanas) were excellent, I would particularly commend the first one (she took us to the Tatiakov, the KGB tour, and to that beautiful cemetery where so many great Russian artists, authors, composers, musicians, militarists, and politicians are buried). Her knowledge is encyclopedic; and her understanding of today´s Russia as a product of its past was, for us, truly enlightening. I will be taking another tour in Russia, with my wife, within the next two or three years. I will be in touch with you when the time comes. Meanwhile, I will refer you to other potential visitors to Russia as I meet them.

Moscow, a City Like No Other

Moscow is Russia’s largest city with a population of between 12 and 13 million. It is also Europe’s largest city and when you visit Moscow, you can feel it. The layout and architecture of the city is eclectic, ranging from crooked, ancient streets and alleyways to wide, bustling boulevards, from medieval churches to Stalin skyscrapers and to modern, glass buildings towering over everything and of course in the center of it all is the Kremlin and the magnificent Red Square. Moscow is also home to a fantastic, efficient and very beautiful metro system – each station having its own special design. In fact, Express to Russia’s Moscow metro tours and excursions are some of our most popular attractions that we offer. On our Moscow tours, you will see this and more.

Moscow Kremlin in the times of Ivan III

Moscow Tours centering on Russian History

Moscow has a long and interesting history and has been the capital of Russia in many of its different iterations – capital of the Grand Duchy of Moscow , the Russian Empire and of course the Soviet Union (who could ever forget the Soviet Union?). Moscow, was founded in the 12th century by Prince Yuri Dolgaruki (Yuri of the long arms – he really did have long arms!). From that time on, it was home to the Russian Tsars until Peter the Great moved the capital to St. Petersburg in 1703. The city has survived invasions and sieges from the Mongols, the Tartars, the Poles, Lithuanians and Napoleon but has always persevered. Our Moscow tours will enlighten you on this great history and give you insights into Muscovites and their unique culture. Our Moscow tours show you what the city is like today but also brings to life the past. Moscow never seems to sleep and is bursting with energy. A Moscow tour with Express to Russia is truly the best way of getting to know Russia’s largest and most vibrant city.

Frequently Asked Questions From Our Travelers

What is the best time to visit moscow.

Any time of year is fine depending on what you plan to do. Summertime is pleasantly warm, ideal for exploring the city and its vibrant atmosphere, but Moscow will be much busier and accommodation is more expensive. Winter can be quite cold but beautiful nonetheless, and this is unproblematic if you intend to spend most of your trip in museums and galleries. There are also various festivals and events organised throughout the year. For more information about the best time to visit, read our guide

How many days are enough in Moscow?

If you plan your itinerary strategically and aren’t averse to a packed schedule, you can cover Moscow’s main sights over a long weekend. Most popular attractions are in the city centre, and the Moscow Metro allows you to cover much ground in a small amount of time. Ensure that your accommodation is fairly central and book tickets in advance, so that you can make the most of your days. For an informative and well-organised day out, check out our Moscow day tours with options to suit all interests.

Do they speak English in Moscow?

As Russia’s capital city, tourists are well accommodated in Moscow. There should be English-speaking staff in restaurants, bars, hotels, shops and attractions in tourist hotspots, and there are also English-speaking tourist police. Transport services have English translations on their maps and English announcements via intercom; alternatively, order taxis from the Yandex Taxi app (Russian Uber), though it’s unlikely that your taxi driver will speak English. If you get stuck and cannot communicate, it’s fine to use Google Translate.

Is it safe to travel to Moscow?

It is no less safe to travel to Moscow than to any European city if you exercise common sense and look after your belongings. As with every city some regions can be more unsavoury than others, but no tourist attractions are located there. The traffic in Moscow is notorious, so exercise caution when crossing roads. Do not take unlicensed taxis; book in advance or take public transport, which is widespread and perfectly safe. If you encounter any problems, look for the special tourist police who can help you.
