The Weeknd Melbourne 2023 – here's what you need to know

JUST IN: The Weeknd's After Hours Til Dawn tour has officially been postponed, with new dates to be announced next year

Update November 3, 2023:  Live Nation has just announced that due to "unforeseen circumstances" the Weeknd has had to postpone the upcoming Australian and New Zealand legs of his After Hours Til Dawn tour. All tickets remain valid for the rescheduled shows, and patrons who are unable to attend the new dates will be offered a refund. New dates will be announced next year – watch this space for more info as it comes in.

Has the Weekend cancelled his Australian tour in 2023?

Due to "unforeseen circumstances", all of his Australian shows – including his Melbourne dates – have been postponed. New dates are set to be revealed in 2024.

Is the Weeknd touring Australia in 2023?

Not anymore. On November 3, Live Nation announced the Weeknd would be rescheduling all of the 2023 dates of his After Hours Til Dawn tour and moving them to 2024.

When is the Weeknd coming to Melbourne?

The Weeknd was originally set to perform in Melbourne on December 1, 2, 4 and 5, 2023. These shows have now been postponed. 

How much are the Weeknd tickets for Melbourne? 

Ticket prices will range from $102.87-$306.75, but prices may be subject to change. 

What stadium will the Weeknd play at in Melbourne? 

The Weeknd was scheduled to play at Marvel Stadium   in Docklands, near the CBD. 

Where else is the Weeknd playing in Australia as part of the 2023 After Hours til Dawn tour?

In addition to his Melbourne show, the Weeknd was scheduled to perform at Accor Stadium in Sydney on November 24, 25 and 27, and Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on November 20 and 21. All of these dates have now been postponed.

Debut Album

The Weeknd released his first album in 2013, with Kiss Land scoring a number-two hit in both Canada and the United States.

He contributed Earned It to the Fifty Shades soundtrack in 2014.

His second album, Beauty Behind the Madness, went to number one worldwide, selling six million copies in the US, and became a critical hit also. He worked with a number of big artists on that release, with the likes of Ed Sheeran , Lana Del Rey , Eminem , and Nicki Minaj all appearing.

Number One Singles

The number one album included the number one US singles The Hills and Can't Feel My Face, and it became clear that The Weeknd was now a force to be reckoned with.

2016 saw The Weeknd release Starboy, which was a huge success, and saw Abel Tesfaye start his collaboration with Daft Punk . The title song of the album went 11 times Platinum in the US and topped the charts all over the world.

In 2018 The Weeknd worked with Kendrick Lamar on the hugely successful Black Panther soundtrack.

In 2020 After Hours came out and scored all manner of awards but somehow didn't even get a Grammy Award nomination.

After Hours

Heartless, from the After Hours album, went to number one, and Blinding Lights followed suit, and was the most streamed song of 2020 on Spotify and went Diamond in the United States, and is officially number one on the All-Time Billboard charts.

In 2020 he also worked with Ariana Grande on Off the Table.

2021 saw The Weeknd perform the Super Bowl halftime show, meaning he became the first Canadian to headline the show.

Tesfaye dropped his latest album, Dawn FM, in January 2022 and went to number one.

The Weeknd's major influences include Michael Jackson and Prince, and that's very apparent from his singing style and stage presence, and incredible creativity.

Rap fans, get tickets to Future and Metro Boomin, “We Trust You Tour” Sunday, Aug. 4, 8 p.m., Little Caesars Arena, Detroit.

Future and Metro Boomin will make stops across North America with a 27-date tour including performances in Detroit, Chicago, Columbus and more to celebrate their double feature albums, “ We Don’t Trust You,” which was released in March, and their April follow-up “We Still Don’t Trust You.”

Stubhub, Vivid Seats, SeatGeek have tickets to the Detroit tour stop. Tickets are also available for tour stops in Chicago, Columbus and Toronto. Ticketmaster’s PreSale is happening now.

How much are Future and Metro Boomin tickets?

Ticket prices start at $83 but prices will fluctuate.

Future is a successful rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer who was signed to A-1 Recordings in 2010 and released several popular mixtapes. Future released his first solo album Pluto in 2012 which features Drake, Snoop Dogg, R. Kelly, T. I. , and other hit artists.

Future’s second studio album, Future Hendrix, was released in 2013 and also featured big names including Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Ciara, and Diplo, to name a few.

Future has charted three number-one albums on the Billboard 200, received the BET Award for Best Group, BET Hip Hop Award for Best Mixtape and Future named his 2017 album “HNDRXX” as an ode to his rock star idol, Jimi Hendrix. Future has gone on to collaborate with artists, including Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.

J. Cole apologizes to Kendrick Lamar for 'lame' diss '7 Minute Drill': 'I was conflicted'

'We Don't Trust You' and 'We Still Don't Trust You' vs. Drake: Diss tracks explained

Future and Metro Boomin's "We Don't Trust You," released March 22, and "We Still Don't Trust You," released April 12, unleashed grievances other rappers had with Toronto rapper Drake.

Lamar, Cole and Drake are widely recognized as their rap class' "Big Three," the most recognizable stars in the genre over the past decade. Cole referred to himself, Drake (Aubrey Graham) and Lamar (K. Dot) as the "big three" in modern rap in Drake's 2023 song "First Person Shooter."

Lamar shut down the "big three" line on the "We Don't Trust You" track "Like That." In the song, he called out "First Person Shooter" by name and said "it's just big me" when it comes to rap titans.

Following the diss, J. Cole dropped a surprise album, "Might Delete Later," which included "7 Minute Drill," where Cole alluded to hearing about Lamar's diss, rapping, "I got a phone call, they say that somebody dissing / You want some attention, it come with extensions."

"He still doing shows but fell off like 'The Simpsons,'" the North Carolina rapper continued, adding that Lamar's first album was "classic" and his latest was "tragic."

But two days later,  at his Dreamville Festival,  J. Cole told his home state crowd during a headlining set that his diss track was a "lame" and "goofy" decision, in  videos captured by attendees .

J. Cole later appeared as a guest on the "We Still Don't Trust You" track "Red Leather," a seven-minute song that features an apparent swipe at Drake.

"Kept my nose out the streets, but I love to get a whiff / Of the action, with risk comes attraction / The blicks get to blastin’, I turn into a track star,” Cole raps on the track, who also said that his "story's more clever, my similes was better."

Rapper A$AP Rocky, who is the longtime boyfriend of Drake's ex  Rihanna,  also took shots at Drake on the "We Still Don't Trust You" track "Show of Hands," saying the Canadian rapper's latest music "came and went" and he didn't "trust" him.

The Weeknd joined the band wagon on "We Still Don't Trust You," remarking on the track "All to Myself" that he's glad never "signed (his) life away" to Drake's OVO label. He also took aim at Drake's "shooters," joking that they're too busy "making TikToks."

Future didn't let his features have all the fun. On the track "This Sunday," Future seemingly interpolates the chorus of Drake’s 2016 song "Feel No Ways" by telling his former "Life Is Good" collaborator that he doesn't care if Drake "feel a way" about all the disses.

Drake has yet to issue a formal response to the diss tracks, although a rumored single allegedly called "Push Ups" was leaked on social media Saturday that seemingly addresses Lamar and Metro Boomin.

I'm so into the idea of seeing Ariana Grande do an Eternal Sunshine tour this year, I can barely breathe...but is it happening?

Last time Ariana Grande released an album, it was the pandemic and she told Zach Sang that she had no interest in touring Positions until it was safe to do so. She said that she didn't want to put her fans in any danger. Ariana also teased that she liked touring Sweetener and Thank U, Next together and likely wouldn't do another tour until she had another album out.

Fast forward to 2024 and the Eternal Sunshine era is officially in full swing. Is Ariana Grande going on tour this year though? If she is, what are the tour dates, locations, ticket prices and presale codes? Here's what Ariana has said about it so far.

When is Ariana Grande going on tour?

Will there be an Eternal Sunshine tour?

Talking to Zach Sang about a potential Eternal Sunshine tour in February 2024, Ariana said: "I would love to do shows. I love being on stage. I miss being on stage. I miss my fans so much. That's the honest to god truth."

However, Ariana then admitted that she struggled with touring in 2019. She said: "I had a really hard time emotionally on my last tour but I think that's because of where I was at. Just like with music, I'm really excited to redefine my relationship to shows when I'm ready and to see what that looks like."

As for if there's time in 2024, Ariana added: "I do have a very busy year with this [album] and with Wicked , and then next year I also have Wicked Part Two . I'm interested to see what that would look like. It would obviously be shorter if it were anything it would be a littler something."

Ariana ended by saying: "I definitely do have the itch. But then again, I’m not ready to announce any sort of thing, or get people too excited because I don’t want to disappoint."

With this in mind, it appears that no tour is currently set in stone. However, Ariana may still do a small run of shows so bookmark this page for updates.

Ariana Grande tour presale codes: How to find a presale code for your country

As it stands, Ariana has said nothing official about a tour so far. A couple of fan tweets have gone viral suggesting that there is a tour presale access code in her website coding but these all appear to be fake with fans simply using it as a way to encourage people to preorder Ariana's album. Nevertheless, if a tour happens, there will likely be a presale.

If Ariana follows in the footsteps of artists like Beyoncé , Taylor Swift and Harry Styles , she will probably have a Citi Verified Fan Presale in the US and an O2 Priority Presale in the UK. There may also be separate Live Nation and fan presales.

If Ariana does announce a tour, it would be wise to sign up to her mailing list to get any presale information as soon as it becomes available.

Ariana Grande tour ticket prices: How much will the tickets be?

Prices for an Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour will likely depend on what kind of venues she performs in. Tickets for her last arena tour cost between $35 and $225. Based on her telling Zach Sang, she'd like to do something smaller, there's a chance that venues will be smaller and tickets will be more expensive.

Eternal Sunshine Tour dates: When is Ariana Grande going on tour in 2024?

Again, there's no news yet on whether Ariana is touring this year so no dates are currently available. If she does tour in any capacity it will have to take place before official promotion for Wicked starts. Wicked comes out in cinemas worldwide on November 27th. Taking this into consideration, any tour would likely wrap before November.

Ariana Grande tour locations: What cities will Ariana Grande play in?

While I think we would all like an Eternal Sunshine world tour, Ariana's Zach comments suggest that whatever she does for Eternal Sunshine will be on a much smaller scale than Sweetener.

With this in mind, it's unlikely that there will be shows outside of the US but she could have a livestream or filmed show planned.

Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Without any tour announcements, there's no knowing what songs Ariana Grande would perform on an Eternal Sunshine tour at the moment. Nevertheless, Ariana tends to heavily feature her recent projects in live shows, so expect lots of songs from Eternal Sunshine and Positions to feature alongside her biggest hits.

If Ariana does one-off Eternal Sunshine shows, it's also possible that she will opt to perform the album in full instead of a more traditional setlist.
