Tom Cruise is known for his impressive on-screen stunts and the fact that he still looks 38 despite being weeks away from his 61st birthday.
Mind you, there’s something else Cruise doesn’t get enough recognition for: his watch collection.
From de rigueur Rolex best-sellers to the famous Top Gun watch, there are some proper gems here.
Let’s have a look at Tom Cruise’s watch collection.
5. Tudor Heritage Chrono from Mission Impossible – $4,500

Ethan Hunt is set to return to screen for one final mission in the upcoming movie Dead Reckoning, a two-part finale to the Mission: Impossible saga.
Tom Cruise will of course reprise his role as Hunt, along with Ving Rhames (Luther) and Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn).
We don’t know what kind of watch Hunt will be wearing in the new film, but there’s one timepiece from the other Mission: Impossible movies that stands out.
It’s the Tudor Heritage Chrono, a modern chronograph designed to give off vintage-y vibes.
Cruise / Hunt wore this watch in the 2011 film Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.
The watch isn’t cheap, but perhaps less expensive than you think, it’ll ‘only’ set you back $4,500.
4. IWC Mark XV from Vanilla Sky – $6,000
Tom Cruise plays a careless, carefree and callous womanizer in the 2001 psychological thriller Vanilla Sky.
However, his character’s life goes upside down when a car crash nearly kills him.
In the film, Cruise’s character David Aames wears an IWC Mark XV and drives a vintage Ford Mustang.
What do these things have in common? They’re both more expensive than you might think.
This IWC timepiece was pricey then, and it’s pricey now, with a market value north of $6,000.
3. Omega SeaMaster Chronograph from War of Worlds – $7,000
In the 2005 film War of Worlds, Tom Cruise plays Ray Ferrier, a divorced crane operator with two children that don’t really like him.
However, Ray goes from deadbeat dad to hero when Earth is invaded by tripod-shaped aliens.
Needless to say, Ray saves the day, and his family, and they lived happily ever after.
The film was a box office success and it features a cool and yet somehow underrated watch.
Some of us may be familiar with the Omega Seamaster, but not this model.
In the film, Ray / Tom Cruise wears a vintage cal 321 Seamaster Chronograph, which was relatively inexpensive back then.
Mind you, Cruise couldn’t get away with wearing this exact watch if he played a similar role today because the Seamaster 321 is worth around $5,000 – $6,000 today.
Not really a crane operator watch, is it?
2. Gold Rolex Day-Date from Rain Main – $8,500
Tom Cruise starred alongside Dustin Hoffman and Valeria Golino in the 1988 Oscar-winning movie Rain Man.
In the film, Cruise’s character Charlie Babbitt is a well-off LA yuppie and he wears a watch that perfectly matches his character’s personality.
The watch in question is a gold Rolex Day-Date which, as you can probably imagine, costs a pretty penny.
Prices vary significantly depending on size and model year but, generally speaking, you can’t find one for under $8,500.
1. Orfina Porsche Design from Top Gun – $9,650
This is by far and away the most famous watch ever worn by Tom Cruise in one of his movie.
The 60-year-old actor gave this watch icon status after wearing it in the 1986 film Top Gun.
Made by Porsche Design in partnership with Swiss watchmaker Orfina, this military-style chronograph became synonymous with the Top Gun saga.
The price reflects that.
The watch is quite rare and difficult to find, and if you want a period-correct Orfina Porsche Design in good condition, be prepared to spend at least $6,000-$6,500.
But hold on because this conversation is about to become even more expensive.
Porsche released a limited-edition reissue that Tom Cruise wore in the 2022 sequel Top Gun: Maverick.
This one is priced at $7,700.
The bad news is it is no longer available and collectors aren’t selling theirs.
So your only option is to buy the Porsche Design Chronograph 1.
It looks exactly the same except for the hour markers, but it costs even more money.
This one will set you back $9,650 .

The TAG Heuer S/EL Quartz chronograph, a modest yet stylish timepiece, reflected the character’s transition into a new professional chapter.

Worn during an appearance with Oprah, Cruise showcased the 44mm Luminor Marina, specifically the Ref. PAM00299, with remarkable grace. What sets this Panerai apart is its integrated bracelet, a departure from the customary leather or rubber straps associated with the brand. The PAM00299’s striking SuperLuminova indices and a date display at 3 o’clock contribute to its quintessential Panerai aesthetics. Released in 2010, the Heritage line pays homage to the iconic Tudor Ref. 7031 and 7032 “Homeplate” models from 1970, particularly celebrated as a mini-Newman in collectors’ circles. The Best Watches in Tom Cruise’s Watch Collection From Screen to Red Carpet
In researching this article about Tom Cruise’s watch collection, one thing became abundantly clear to me. There is no human being on this planet that commands as much attention. Whether its his latest movie outing like Top Gun Maverick, an appearance at an awards show or some other type of engagement, people want to know what he’s up to. Which means there are a lot of pictures of Cruise out there. What’s particularly amazing is that in the vast majority of them, he’s wearing a different watch – the sheer range and diversity of the timepieces is impressive. He’s no Paul Newman with a diehard attachment to a single model. With that in mind, here are some of the best watches in Tom Cruise’s collection and what he has been spotted with.
Of course, while he does own many watches, some of the pieces he’s most associated with are those that appear on his wrist in the Hollywood blockbusters he’s adored for. From several Mission Impossible outings to Oscar nominated Vanilla Sky, to guilty pleasures like Cocktail, there are a million and one Tom Cruise watches to be spotted – we couldn’t leave them out.
Porsche Design Chronograph 1
We’ve got to start with the watch that helped launch Cruise’s career, the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 from the Top Gun franchise. The original 1986 film is an absolute classic of high octane action and the sequel, made 36 years later, was undoubtedly the best film of 2022. In an insane (and awesome) piece of watch continuity, in both films Cruise wears the exact same Chronograph 1 with its PVD case and ultra-legible display. Admittedly, Cruise is only a temporary custodian of the watch as it actually belongs to the films’ producer, Jerry Bruckheimer.
Rolex Air-King
Keeping with the theme of watches worn on the big screen, in 1988’s Cocktail Cruise can be seen wearing an incredibly lovely Rolex Air-King with silver dial. If you’re unfamiliar with the film, it’s probably best to keep it that way, it’s not one of Cruise’s best – you can read our full thoughts on the Raspberry winning movie here . However, if you can get past the plot, the Rolex Air-King is truly lovely, especially when you consider that in the 80s the name Rolex was a fair bit more prestigious than it is today.
IWC Mark XV
From Tom Cruise’s worst film to his trippiest: 2001’s Vanilla Sky . The Oscar nominated film revolves around concepts about life, existence and art, which makes the inclusion of an IWC Mark XV pilot watch pretty jarring. The Mark XV is a watch grounded in functionality and purity of design with a military style display in black and white and a 38mm stainless steel case. It’s a watch at odds with the high-falutin concepts of the film, which somehow makes its presence all the more impactful. It’s not the only IWC he sports in a film either, as he wears the Ingenieur automatic in 2004’s Collateral.
Cartier Santos de Cartier
This one is a given considering the number of red carpets Tom Cruise has walked in his lifetime. Cartier are renowned for being the most popular brand among actors for premiers, awards shows and more. However, while we often think of the Cartier Tank, Cruise opts for its larger, sportier cousin the Santos de Cartier. With its bold, square design and thick bezel, it combines the best of the Sports Luxe aesthetic with Cartier’s traditional attention to detail and Art Deco styling. The silver dial option at the medium sizing as worn by Cruise is particularly nice.
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin
So far, while each of the watches we’ve had a look at are each unique and distinct, they’ve all had something in common – a tendency towards functionality and sportiness. The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-Thin that Cruise wore to last year’s Cannes Film Festival is the first piece of major haute horology we’re taking a look at. It has a 41.5mm white gold case with a rich blue dial featuring hours, minutes, day, date, months, moonphase and leap years, all powered by the Calibre 1120 QP/1, which won’t need adjusting until the year 2100, if kept wound.
Rolex Daytona Ref. 1166500LN
One of the most famous watches in his collection is the Rolex Daytona Ref. 1166500LN. You know the one. With its 40mm Oystersteel case, a black cerachrom bezel and a white dial featuring black subdial accents – not quite a panda display, but not far from it either – it’s one of the most sought-after Rolexes to have been released in the last decade. Perhaps Tom Cruise isn’t so different to Paul Newman as we first posited.
Bremont ALT1-C
Proving that his love of watches expands beyond the big names of Swiss watchmaking, Cruise has also been clocked sporting watches from brands that aren’t quite so well known outside of watch circles. Case in point he has a Bremont ALT1-C, an aviation chronograph from a British brand specialising in pilot’s watches. It has a 43mm diameter case in stainless steel and houses the Calibre 13 1/4”’ BE-50AE automatic (base ETA 7750), which has a 42-hour power reserve.
At a price of just £5,295 compared to some of the £100,000+ watches in his collection, it shows that Tom Cruise’s interest in watches is genuine and goes beyond the pieces with the biggest clout.
Panerai Luminor Marina PAM00299
Panerais have a reputation for being particularly large, making them a favourite of larger men who live up to its size. Cruise proves that this isn’t always the case because despite being on the shorter side, the Luminor Marina looks perfectly at home on his wrist. It’s also interesting because the Panerai is one of the few dive watches in his collection, evidently, he prefers tool watches designed for the skies rather than the seas.
And the Rest of Them
Rain Man: Rolex Yellow Gold Day Date
While on screen Tom Cruise is as much of an action hero as he always has been, he’s actually 60 years old, meaning he’s been in the industry for a long, long time. There are simply too many films, red carpets and photoshoots to cover every single watch he’s worn across a well-lived life.
Some stand outs include a Cartier Calibre de Cartier Chronograph, a Tudor Heritage Chronograph (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), a Graham Chronodiver Chronograph, as well as a half-dozen more Rolexes like the GMT Master II, Sky-Dweller, Datejust and the Day-Date (Rain Man). And there are still more I could mention like the Jacob & Co. Epic II Chronograph, Tag Heuer S/EL Quartz Chrono (Jerry Maguire) or Casio G-Shock W-5300 (Mission Impossible).
Quite the collection. I am surprised there wasn’t any mention of his many Breitling pieces. The Sky-Dweller is probably my favorite piece out of all the ones mentioned here along with the IWC.

One Cartier Isn't Enough for Tom Cruise
By Cam Wolf
Welcome to Watches of the Week , where we'll track the rarest, wildest, and most covetable watches spotted on celebrities.
Tom Cruise is on a worldwide tour promoting the new Top Gun: Maverick movie, which is great news for fans of preposterous air action. It’s also great news for watch admirers around the world. This week, Maverick gave us one terrific watch and then followed up with a lovable sequel.
The first watch was the historically significant Cartier, the Calibre. The Calibre, which debuted in 2010, marked a new era for Cartier’s watchmaking program. While the brand has been in the wristwatch business for over 100 years, it didn’t make its own movements for much of that time. (Watch nerds care a lot about this sort of thing.) The Calibre—which is named after another word for movement—was Cartier’s announcement to the world that it was now making its own movements. To show off its newfound technical mastery, Cartier created a few show-offy pieces with tourbillons—a notoriously tough feature to build—but it’s the more simple chronograph watches that have stuck around. Tom Cruise is clearly a fan, and so is two-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic . Cruise is famous for doing his own death-defying stunts so maybe it shouldn’t be a surprise he appreciates a watch that’s also proud of doing the work itself.
For the follow-up, Cruise wore another Cartier: the classic Santos in stainless steel. This is a perfect match between watch and man promoting a movie about aviation. The Santos was one of the world’s first wristwatches, invented at the behest of the pilot Alberto Santos Dumont. Now it’s somehow taking in even better views on Cruise’s wrist—and, as you’ll see, atop championship parade floats.
Two flavors of Santos this week: Cruise’s classic-as-it-gets and the exact opposite of that in Curry’s. The watch on the newly minted Finals MVP’s wrist is a brand-new release from Cartier that just debuted in March. This version of the Santos comes in navy and the new horizontal stripes are a welcome addition. (The whole Curry family is supplying grist for the watch-world mill this week: The night the Warriors won the Finals, Curry’s dad Dell wore a Rolex “Batman” GMT and wife Ayesha a Rolex Deepsea.)
It takes a brave man to pull off a mesh mustard-yellow tank top like Wade did at Prada’s spring/summer 2023 runway show this week. The easier, if less affordable, piece to steal from Wade’s look is his super-classic watch. Vacheron’s Patrimony is a prototypical dress watch and Wade’s comes with an interesting quirk: the retrograde display. That’s the name given to this style of dial, which (in this case) uses an arc to display the date and day of the week.
Turns out Daniel Craig isn’t the only one who benefits from Omega’s partnership with the James Bond franchise. Wright, who plays CIA agent Felix Leiter in the films, was seen wearing the Seamaster made special for No Time to Die . The watch is kissed with, but not drowning in, nods to Bond. The caseback features a serial number that mirrors an actual military-issue watch, the dial features the “Broad Arrow” seen on the real-life watches issued by the British Ministry of Defense, and it’s made out of the featherweight titanium because “we decided that a lightweight watch would be key for a military man like 007,” Craig said at the time of the watch’s release.
When investing in a watch, it helps to have the guidance of the most influential collector in the world . So when Andy Cohen was looking for his next watch, he tapped John Mayer to help him in the search, he said on the singer’s Instagram show Current Mood . Cohen then said on his own show Watch What Happens Happens Live that the watch was a “major splurge”—but not one he regrets. Hard to regret much when it’s a platinum Day-Date with this frosty blue dial— a combination Rolex reprised to much fanfare earlier this year .

Movies are Tom Cruise’s true passion , but he cares about other things, too. Like watches.
The Top Gun: Maverick star has taken advantage of the return of the multi-week, globe-spanning publicity tour to show off his horological taste. Last week, that meant wearing not one but two exquisite Cartier timepieces while promoting the blockbuster in South Korea.

The first of those timepieces, a Calibre chronograph, could be seen on the actor’s wrist as soon as he got off the plane at Gimpo Airport in Seoul. The watch was introduced by the French brand in 2010 and was its first powered by an in-house movement, hence its name. Unlike Cartier’s most famous model, the Tank, it features a round 42 mm stainless-steel case that is attached to a matching bracelet by some rather prominent lugs. Under its scratch-resistant crystal is a white face with prominent Roman numeral hour markers, luminous hands, 12-hour and 30-minute sub-dial and a date aperture at 6 o’clock. It has a power reserve of 48 hours and is water-resistant to up to 328 feet. No longer in production, it can regularly be found at online marketplaces, like Chrono24 , for a little over $9,000.

Cruise displayed another Cartier, this time a Santos de Cartier, days later at a press event in South Korea’s capital city. Unlike the Calibre, it has the rectangular shape that the brand’s watches are most commonly associated with. The timepiece, which GQ notes was designed at the behest of pilot Alberto Santos Dumont, has a 39.8 mm stainless steel case that houses a silvered opaline dial with Roman numeral hour markers, blue sword-shaped hands and a date window at 6 o’clock. At its heart is the calibre 1847 MC automatic winding movement and it’s also water-resistant up to 328 feet. Unlike the actor’s other watch, it’s still in production and is available directly from the brand for $7450.
Cruise may have only worn Cartiers in South Korea, but he’s not a one-brand timepiece kind of guy. When Top Gun: Maverick premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, an ultra-thin Vacheron Constantin peeked out of the cuff of his tuxedo. And in the film itself, his titular character can be seen wearing a Porsche Design chronograph .

Tom Cruise wore his original Top Gun watch in Top Gun: Maverick
By Jack King
“I have a need,” Tom Cruise's Pete “Maverick” Mitchell said in Top Gun : “A need for speed!” And how else would he measure his miles clocked per minute without the mechanical precision of his trusty Porsche Design Chronograph 1?
Top Gun: Maverick boasts a bunch of relics and loving holdovers from its predecessor: every sixth scene is a flashback sequence, shows off an old prop, or pointedly frames an old photo of Mav and Val Kilmer's Iceman on the wall. Those of us with a Navy aviator's 20/20 vision might've noticed one particular Easter egg — Mav's trusty timepiece from the original, said Chronograph. While the rest of the airmen in the sequel wear IWC accoutrements from the brand's dedicated Top Gun line, the Cold War-era Porsche remains tightly wrapped around Mav's wrist.
It's not just some random Chronograph the prop department sourced from eBay, no no. According to Cruise himself, this was the OG — only in the thirty-six year interim between Top Gun premiering and its sequel being birthed, producer Jerry Bruckheimer had appropriated it as his own private piece, so he lent it back to the 59-year-old.
“The watch I wear is the original watch,” Cruise confirmed to BBC Radio 1 at the end of May. “So I had to go, ‘Jerry, I need the watch for the movie.’ The second I was done shooting — that day — he [took it back]." Ah, the privileges of being one of the biggest blockbuster ship-steerers in the biz.
If you want a modern reinterpretation of the Chronograph 1, you can pre-order one at Porsche Design's website — but it'll set you back a hefty wad (read: £7,900). Maybe you're better off spending the rest of your days working to become a super producer, wriggling your way into the good graces of one Thomas Cruise Mapother IV (yeah, that's his real name) — he might just give you his watch…

IWC watch - Tom Cruise - Top Gun: Maverick
IWC watches appear in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), but Tom Cruise wears the same Porsche Design Chronograph watch that he wore in the first Top Gun movie.
Most of the pilots in Top Gun: Maverick wear IWC watches. IWC supplies watches ( read more in this article on IWC ) to the real Top Gun school (the United States Navy Strike Fighter Tactics Instructor program) and offers a range of Top Gun branded watches.
We can also spot an IWC handheld stopwatch in the film.

Watching Movies Tom Cruise Wears A Wacky TAG Heuer In 'Jerry Maguire'
Renée zellweger and cuba gooding jr. complete him with tags of their own in our watch-related movie of the week..
In the 1990s, Tom Cruise was a mega movie star – even bigger than he is now. In 1996 alone, he starred in the first Mission Impossible blockbuster (a franchise that's still going strong) and today's film of choice, Jerry Maguire . Not a bad year. The film follows the eponymous Maguire, a sports agent whose life gets turned upside down after getting fired from his agency, leaving him with only one client – pro football player Rod Tidwell (played by Cuba Gooding Jr.). In the midst of all that, Maguire falls in love with his only employee, Dorothy Boyd (played by Renée Zellweger). This is a sports movie, but also a romantic comedy, but really it's one big game of Tag – as in TAG Heuer.

The 2020 Olympics closing ceremonies are this weekend, but the Olympics weren't the only sporting event on right now. Between the Major League Baseball trade deadline, NBA free agency (Russ to the Lakers!), and the NFL training camps starting up, it's an athletic frenzy across the board. And where there are elite athletes, there are agents. A sports agent is responsible for negotiating on an athlete's behalf when it comes to contracts, in addition to being their representative in all areas inside and outside the sport (commercials, movies, endorsements, etc). There's no better sports-agent film than Jerry Maguire . And it happens to be a great watch movie, too.
Jonathan Lipnicki opposite Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Screengrab courtesy: Sony Pictures Entertainment
Directed by Cameron Crowe, who captured the 1970s in Almost Famous and the 1980s in Fast Times at Ridgemont High , this 1990s classic nails the decade's fashion, music, and watches. There's really no watch brand that embodies the '90s more than TAG Heuer (which would explain why Leonardo DiCaprio's Jordan Belfort wears it in The Wolf of Wall Stree t ). Or why Brad Pitt wears one in Moneyball . In Jerry Maguire , it feels as if the entire cast is outfitted in them. I'd like to think that when the prop master approached Crowe, he stopped her mid-sentence and said "You had me at Heuer."
Tom Cruise as Jerry Maguire, with a drink in one hand and his TAG on the opposite wrist, after losing a client in Jerry Maguire . Screengrab courtesy: Sony Pictures Entertainment
Maguire's watch is TAG Heuer S/el Quartz Chronograph, an analog/digital watch which – if it could talk – would be screaming "look at me! I'm from 1996!" Signature dial elements include an extremely busy three-register layout, 4:30 date window, and the colorful brand logo. And that's just the beginning. Rounding out the design are L-shaped end links on a black leather strap, plus lugs that swoop like a circus performer's mustache.
A TAG Heuer S/e/ Quartz Chronograph, similar to the one worn by Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. Photo: eBay.
Gooding wears a decidedly tamer two-tone TAG Heuer Professional 200m. Zellweger completes the party with what appears to be a stainless steel Professional Quartz model with a plastic bezel. It's hard to get a clean look at her watch in the film, so if anyone has a better eye for it, let me know in the comments.
In the film's first act, as Maguire's entire career spectacularly unravels in a single day [00:25:19], he raises his left hand to his face, showing off his loud and wild TAG S/el to the empty room. This is an important moment because it comes just before his next phone call – to Tidwell – where we get the "Show me the money!" line that became an instant catchphrase and national phenomenon.
Screengrab courtesy: Sony Pictures Entertainment
Shifting focus to the final act [01:46:41], we find the main characters on a double date in a seafood restaurant smashing crabs with a hammer. The purpose of this scene is to illustrate Maguire's inability to love unconditionally, and to push the plot forward and help his character grow into the "You complete me" version of himself. For our purposes, however, this scene is significant because it contains the only real watch closeup. That would be Tidwell's two-tone TAG Heuer Professional, which fills the frame just as his wife bludgeons a crab shell.
Jerry Maguire (starring Tom Cruise, Renée Zellweger, and Cuba Gooding Jr.) is directed by Cameron Crowe, with props by Hope Parrish. It's available to stream on HBO Max and to rent on iTunes or Amazon.
