Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ tour lands in St. Louis on Monday, and the ‘BeyHive’ is buzzing

Beyoncé is set to bring “big energy” to the Dome in Downtown St. Louis on Monday. Fans of the mega superstar, known as the "BeyHive," have been abuzz over the Renaissance tour’s high production values, ever-changing wardrobe and in anticipation of being in the presence of Queen Bey herself.

DJ Nico Marie, along with fellow DJ Makeda Kravitz, will host “Icon: A Tribute Series, Beyoncé Edition” at Sophie’s Artist lounge on Friday to celebrate Beyoncé’s upcoming stop in St. Louis.

“We are planning a night of Beyoncé,” Nico Marie told St. Louis on the Air . “There’s going to be Beyoncé-themed cocktails. It’s a place for everybody part of the 'BeyHive' to celebrate this monumental time.”

Nico Marie shared that this will be her first time seeing Beyoncé perform live. Beyoncé included St. Louis in initial stops for the Renaissance tour, unlike during her 2016 Formation tour when St. Louis was added as a secondary city.

Local fans of live music often languish that St. Louis is skipped over by national and international acts, but Nico Marie was not surprised by the St. Louis date, and she’s looking forward to seeing her idol live. “I'm greatly anticipating it,” she said. “I'm probably going to cry.”

The most wonderful time of the golf season reaches its conclusion Sunday as the beauty of April surrounds Augusta National Golf Club. The 2024 Masters started as a star-studded affair with a loaded field featuring the best golfers in the world and Scottie Scheffler entering as the favorite. Scheffler held that same position entering Round 4 and has only increased his advantage as the Masters rolls ot a finish.

Scheffler is looking to become the 10th golfer in Masters history to win two green jackets in a three-year span, and given his level of play over the last two years, no one is doubting he can accomplish his goal. Should he do so, he would pick up a $3.6 million winner's check out of a record  2024 Masters prize money allotment -- a $20 million purse .

While five-time Masters champion Tiger Woods set a new record at Augusta National by making the weekend in his 24th consecutive playing of the tournament, he completely ejected on Saturday with his worst score in a major championship round. Tiger rebounded Sunday while playing his 100th round at Augusta National  but nevertheless signed for a 16 over, his worst score to par at a major and the second-worst round overall across his professional career. (At least he wasn't among the major stars who missed the cut .)

After nearly two hours of taking questions from MPs across the House about events in the Middle East over recent days, Rishi Sunak's statement has come to a close.

The prime minister said the UK is in discussion with allies about how to respond to Iran's unprecedented attack on Israel on Saturday.

MPs from across the House called repeatedly for the government to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation.

But the PM resisted those calls, reiterating the government's long-held position that the organisation is "sanctioned in its entirety".

The Alliance Party member for North Down says: "The prime minister says he wants to see stability in the region, but surely there must be honesty and transparency that Israel itself is a cause of instability and has already broken international humanitarian law?

"The government has no reluctance in rightly challenging Russia over Ukraine in that regard, so why the reluctance to challenge Israel?"

The prime minister says: "I don't think there is any equivalence between what Vladimir Putin is doing in Ukraine and what Israel is doing to ensure the security of its citizens in the face of an appalling terrorist attack."

As well as a statement from the prime minister, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer had his say over this weekend's attacks on Israel by Iran.

Jeremy Corbyn gets to his feet to ask the prime minister if he recognises the "continued Israeli occupation of Palestine" is the central cause of instability in the Middle East.

The former Labour leader, who now sits as an independent MP, says: "33,000 people have died in Gaza. More bombs have been dropped there than were dropped in the whole of the Iraq War. 

"This weekend's horrific events show just how dangerous it is that there is going to be an escalation into war across the entire region.

"Does the prime minister recognise that the central kernel to the whole situation across the region is the continued Israeli occupation of Palestine?

"What will he say about bringing an end to that occupation and a permanent ceasefire?"

Mr Sunak replies: "The biggest impact on regional instability is the continued, pernicious influence of Iran and nobody else."

Next to ask a question is Nicola Richards, Tory MP for West Bromwich East.

She says Iran has smuggled arms across the Middle East, "equipped and funded and trained Hezbollah, Hamas and the Houthis".

She also says they have been "threatening British-Iranians on British soil" - and that doesn't include the regime's treatment of its own people.

Ms Richards becomes yet another MP to ask Rishi Sunak to proscribe Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

The prime minister replies she is "right to highlight the influence of Iran with missile shipments in the seas around them".

"That's why I am pleased that the United Kingdom is playing its part to practically do something about that," he adds, pointing to British warships in the Red Sea, and previous action to disrupt the supply of weapons to the Houthis and other groups in the region."

Conservative Mark Francois asks the prime minister to review a decision due to be taken next year that would see 30 Typhoon jets retired and sold off.

The MP for Rayleigh and Wickford likens the decision in the current climate to "selling off Spitfires before the Battle of Britain".

He says: "I wholly commend our RAF pilots and their superb Typhoon aircraft.

"But we only have 137 Typhoons, and because of budget pressures, next year, the MoD plans to retire 30 of them and sell them off, which would now be akin to selling off Spitfires before the Battle of Britain.

"Will the PM, when he has a moment, go back to his office and place that ridiculous decision under immediate review and at the very least put those typhoons in a war reserve in case one day we need them for ourselves?"

Mr Sunak replies: "I am happy to look at the issue he raised, but I would also note we are increasing our purchases of F-35 aircraft and collaborating with Japan and Italy on creating the next generation of fighter aircraft."

It was expected the prime minister would address the Commons following such a significant attack over the weekend.

Condemning the actions of Iran on Saturday evening, Rishi Sunak said while Israel had the right to defend itself, "all sides must show restraint".

But for all the talk of a "despotic regime", many backbenchers were asking what threats from the UK will now follow.

Tory MPs have called on the government to proscribe Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organisation before, saying it would be a step towards restoring stability to the Middle East. 

And today, senior backbenchers including Suella Braverman and Sir Iain Duncan Smith asked the prime minister again why the IRGC had not been proscribed - meaning it would become a criminal offence in Britain to belong to the group, attend meetings or carry its logo in public.

In the strongest hint yet that a change could be afoot in this area, Mr Sunak responded to Conservative MP and former defence secretary Liam Fox that he had spoken to G7 allies, and discussed the need and benefit of coordinating further measures "perhaps including some of the things he talked about".

The PM said this would be to make sure there was "maximum impact both on the regime and on ultimate designations of any future sanctions". 

There are already 400 sanctions on Iran. The latest were put in place at the end of last year, including on the IRGC.

But proscribing the group as a terrorist organisation would cut diplomatic ties, which the government today reiterated has been useful previously in their de-escalation route.

Tory MP Sir Simon Clarke rises to ask a question and immediately adds his to voice to calls for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to be proscribed.

He says the IRGC's "tentacles are wherever trouble is to be found across the Middle East, and this is the latest demonstration of their malign influence".

Sir Simon turns to his question, which is to ask the PM to "set out a timetable to bring our commitment to raise the percentage of GDP that we spend on defence to 2.5% as quickly as possible".

He called for "specificity" as to how we will do so.

Rishi Sunak replies that the UK has "significantly increased defence spending by the largest amount since the end of the Cold War", and has spent £11bn to deal with inflation and strengthen our nuclear defences.

"We will always continue to invest in our armed forces to keep our country safe," he adds.

Naz Shah said she wants to "remind" the prime minister that support for any nation is not like the "unconditional support that he has for his football team."

The MP for Bradford West says: "When Iran behaves like a rogues state in Syria, we call them out.

"When Israel taunts Iran by bombing its consulate in Syria, knowing full well Iran will respond risking further escalation, we must also call them out.

"What is the PM doing to ensure that the two-state solution and the recognition of Palestine is being actively pursued?"

Mr Sunak points her back to his previous statements committing the UK to a two-state solution.
