Tourism Collectibles

This page of the Days Gone guide details Tourism Collectibles . This is one of the tracked groups of Collectibles.

Tourism 1.jpg

Tourism Collectibles come in a variety of forms. They can be a poster on a wall, a flyer on a bulletin board, a brochure on a counter, a menu in a diner, and more. There are 28 of them scattered across the map. Most of them must be found and interacted with to unlock them. When you are near one a marker will appear with the silhouette of Oregon. Select them in the Collectibles menu to view an image and text of each item.

Days Gone: All Historic Landmarks Locations Guide | Complete Collectibles Map

Go hunting for tourist traps in Days Gone. If you're looking for the many plaques and markers of Oregon, check out the full map of all the historic landmarks here.

tourism 7 days gone

The wild, untamed world of Days Gone is steeped in history, and if you’re hungry to grab a bunch of tourist collectibles, you can do it with our full historic landmark locations maps. We’ve got all the spots marked — all you have to do is take a close look and travel to the markers.

To make life easier, I recommend opening your map once you’re close to the locations shown below — once you’ve cleared the fog, these spots will reveal themselves and you can place a GPS icon that’ll lead you directly to each one.

Some of these landmarks are found in sensible areas — outside major locations on the map, where it only makes sense you’d find a plaque. Other times, you’ll have to explore the deep forests and mountains to locate a big weird rock with text on it. That’s just how these landmarks area. Check out all the locations with the map below.

All Historic Landmarks Locations Guide | Complete Collectibles Map

Historic Landmarks are a special type of collectible in Days Gone . They’ll appear on your map when you clear out Ambush Camps — if you want to find them easier without a map, just travel to each unlock area of the map and search for plumes of black smoke. That’s a sure sign of an Ambush Camp. Clear out the camp, defeat all the bandits, then open their bunker. Down below, you’ll find a map of the area.

Using the map will reveal the surrounded area, and place any landmarks you’ve missed on the map. You’ll also unlock other handy locations, like NERO Research Sites or checkpoints.

Days Gone All Character Collectible Locations

April 25, 2019 by PowerPyx 8 Comments

Days Gone has 33 Character Collectible Locations. Finding all Character Collectibles counts towards the trophy “The Broken Roadshow” (get 75% collectibles in the game). This guide shows all Character Collectible Locations in the same order as the in-game Collectible Menu. You can keep track of your progress in the menu.

Most of these collectibles are found inside camps. Some are automatic story rewards and only a few are found out in the wilderness.

None of these collectibles are missable! After the story there’s free-roam and you can go back to all regions and finish up any side activities and collectibles you have left. It’s worth noting that there are two temporary points of no return. One at the end of 3rd region “Lost Lake” and one more at the end of 5th region “Crater Lake”. This will lock you out of some regions until the end of the story. After the story the whole map opens up again and you can continue collecting.

The best approach is to grab what you can find during the story. Then after the story you can reference what you’re missing in the Collectible Menu and look it up in the list below.

Character Collectibles

The order & numbering in this guide is the same as the in-game Collectible Menu! In the location images the character arrow marks the spot.

#1: Leon – “Crude Drawing of an Angel Statue” Automatic unlock during prologue.

#2: Copeland – “The Right to Bear Arms” Found in the Copeland’s camp (the camp in 1st region). It’s upstairs on the top level.

Days Gone Collectibles Location & Map Guide

Categories:

Where to find Character Collectables, Nero Intel, Tourism Collectables, Historical Collectables and RIP Sermons in Days Gone.

Here you will find a Days Gone Collectibles Guide including Days Gone Collectible Maps showing more than enough collectables for the “The Broken Roadshow” trophy. I have chosen map out Herbology Plants as there isn’t a single specific location for any particular plant, rather just areas where they can be found. You will hopefully collect a lot of these through natural gameplay, but we can also afford not to collect any and still get the 75% we need for the trophy using the guide below.

Also not listed are Sarah’s Lab Notes and Radio Free Oregon Broadcasts as these will be collected naturally as you progress through the game.

Browse by map region using the page navigation, or use Ctrl + F to search for any particular collectable that you are looking for.

This guide is an offshoot of the main Days Gone Trophy Guide .

Days Gone Character Collectibles

This portion of the Days Gone Collectibles Guide will cover Character Collectibles. Most character collectibles are found within camps but there are a select few for which you may have to head further out. There are 33 in total.

#1 Leon “Crude Drawing of an Angel Statue” – Will unlock naturally during the story.

Days Gone Nero Intel Collectibles

This portion of the Days Gone Collectibles Guide will cover Nero Intel. Most Nero Intel is found at Nero Checkpoints and Nero Research Sites but there are just a few pieces which can be found elsewhere. There are 52 in total.

Due to the random scattering of these pieces of intel in comparison to their order in the collectable tracker in-game, it’s difficult to keep them in order here, so i recommend using Ctrl + F to find the one you need. If you are using the guide as a walkthrough, this will hopefully be more ideal rather than having you bounce around the map getting them in order.

I was going to create Days Gone Collectible Maps for the historical markers, but for you to collect them via some maps I put on my site would actually be more difficult than actually using the fact that the game will literally tell you where they are. So, rather than you trying to find them all by referring to maps on here, use your in-game map to track their locations!

Historical Markers will show up on your map whenever you clear the local Ambush Camp and then read the map found in the bunker there. Once you have cleared all 12 Ambush Camps, every single Historical Marker will be displayed on your in-game map and you can simply place a waypoint for each one and collect them that way.

To find all of the Ambush Camps you can use our handy Key Locations Guide which will show you where to find them.

There are only 6 Speeches to collect from Colonel Garrett, but they are all found in the same place in Wizard Island and will show up as you reach different points of the story. This does mean, however, that if you progress too far you will miss one of his speeches.

Not to worry, though, as you can find them all once you finish the game by visiting his tent at the top of Wizard Island (Where Character Collectables #21 and #22 are found) and you’ll be able to collect recordings for each of the speeches you missed!

This portion of the Days Gone Collectible Guide will cover The Camp Guitarists which can all be found at the Lost Lake camp. Sometimes, when you visit, you’ll see a flashing blue “?” icon on your minimap where the Gazebo is, behind the bounty kiosk near the front gate.

tourism 7 days gone

If you head to this location, you’ll see someone playing an instrument such as a harmonica. When you approach this person, they will stop playing and someone with a guitar will get up and begin to play/sing a song. Triggering the song is all you need to do for the collectable.

Apologies for any errors on this page. There are over 200 collectibles in the game, but you only need to find 75% of them for the associated trophies, so hopefully, any errors will turn out to be harmless overall. Note that by the nature of collectibles tending to reveal information about the game world, there are spoilers in this section. Since most of them are in the names of the actual collectibles, these spoilers are unmarked.

These collectibles shed light on the mindset and philosophies of various characters. You're most likely to find them in those characters' personal spaces.

There are a LOT of these. A majority will be found at Checkpoints and Research Sites, which will be marked on the map upon completing the related Ambush Camp. Some are unlocked automatically as part of a mission. A few stragglers will be hidden and difficult to find, but seeking them out is unnecessary for the trophy hunters.

Radio Free Oregon

You’ll have to complete every story mission to get all of these including those in the epilogue. All of these appear to be automatic except for one that requires taking a few Ambush Camps.

These collectibles tend to take the form of various pamphlets scattered around stores and gift shops, though they can sometimes be posts on bulletin boards as well. As a category, these are probably the toughest because none of them appear on the map in any way, but they thankfully tend to appear in rather predictable places.

Historic Markers

Scattered around the world are historic locations. Search for nearby plaques and bulletin boards with information about these locations. These ALL appear on the map as long as you defeat the related Ambush Camp.

These are all plants that reside in various regions in the game. Many plants appear in multiple regions, but as far as I can tell, they only count towards the first region they appear in. Unfortunately, it’s hard to tell where they each count towards as it’s not listed, and one in each region is so exceptionally rare that I have only found one of those six across probably 60 hours of play. Because of this and the fact you don’t need to find every single one for the related trophy, locations are not listed, nor are the five I couldn’t find.

RIP Sermons

Only two of these exist outside the Iron Butte region, and even then, they don’t seem to be active until you have free access to the Iron Butte region. None of them show up on the map.

Camp Guitarist

Later in the game at the third encampment, you’ll find a gazebo behind the Bounty Collector. If you visit this place at night, a guitarist will come to play various songs. You’ll need to visit six times to collect them all. This may not be available initially, so revisit this spot later if he refuses to appear.

---SPOILERS---

The following items contain heavy spoilers and you should avoid the entire section if you’ve not reached region five. The first category as six items that are all automatically collected as part of the main story. The second category has missions associated with them and a radio call will inform you of them so you won’t miss them.

Sarah’s Lab Notes

These notes are all collected automatically as part of the main story.

Colonel Garret’s Speeches

You’ll get a radio call about attending these speeches. Simply attend them to collect them. As soon as the speech starts, you can skip it if you like; you’ll already have credit for the speech.

What happens during a solar eclipse? Experts explain the awe-inspiring phenomena to expect on April 8

By David Pogue

Updated on: April 8, 2024 / 9:03 AM EDT / CBS News

Monday's total eclipse of the sun won't be just any old eclipse; it's being referred to as the Great American Eclipse, because it's going through some very populated areas of the United States. Solar eclipses actually occur every 18 months or so, but during most of them the spectacle is "wasted" on empty ocean. But this afternoon , the moon's shadow will leave 32 million Americans in 15 states briefly in the dark.

  • Solar eclipse maps show 2024 totality path, peak times

Where is the best place to view the eclipse?

map-of-totality-nasa-getty.jpg

What exactly is a total eclipse?

Astronomy author and educator Ed Ting says that in a solar eclipse, the moon passes exactly between your eyes and the sun, and casts its shadow on the Earth. That shadow is only about 100 miles wide, so you have to be in a specific place to witness the solar eclipse in totality.

It's all the result of a freakish cosmic coincidence, when the moon and sun appear to be the exact same size in the sky. "The sun is 400 times bigger than the moon," said Ting. "But by happy coincidence, it is also 400 times further away. So, from our perspective they are the same size."

Total Solar Eclipse, 2017, Grand Tetons National Park , Teton County, Wyoming

What can happen during a total solar eclipse?

But the thrill of an eclipse isn't just about what's overhead – it's what happens all around you as the sky darkens. "The wind sometimes starts to pick up," said Ting. "Animals get confused. The streetlights come on."

But it's not exactly like nighttime. "The sky takes on this sort of fish-scaly, shimmery quality, and you will freak out," Ting said. "You can understand why the ancients ascribe such spiritual or religious significance to eclipses, because you will feel very strange. Half of the people who see an eclipse for the first time will cry."

What preparations are being made?

If you live in the path of the eclipse, you may notice one more effect: A lot more traffic.

Cari White is the chairman of the Eclipse Oversight Committee for Jonesboro, Arkansas, where the moment of totality – complete blockage of the sun – will last 2 minutes and 17 seconds. And for that experience of totally, White said the town will briefly grow to twice its size: "One-hundred-sixty-thousand people might be in town for the eclipse, and we're very excited about it," she said. "Our police department, our fire department, city water and light, they've all been working for over a year to design a plan."

And Jonesboro is not alone: "Everywhere, all over the country, [people] are doing exactly what I've been doing. It's a big, big deal."

  • How Americans in the solar eclipse's path of totality plan to celebrate the celestial event on April 8
  • Here's how one airline is planning to provide a total eclipse experience — from 30,000 feet in the air ("CBS Mornings")
  • Hotel prices soar as tourists flock to see solar eclipse

How to safely view the eclipse

Looking directly at the sun can permanently damage your vision, which is why you need eye protection. Cari White's committee in Jonesboro ordered 75,000 pairs of special glasses. "We have been working for weeks to pass them out to all the schools, we've passed them out at all of the major businesses, the library, the city hall," she said. "If you don't have a pair of glasses and you live in Jonesboro, I don't know how to help ya'."

But here's something about the glasses you might not know: According to Ting, "Once totality hits, you can take the glasses off. Because there's not much light coming from the sun. Once the sun starts to come out again, you do need to remember to put your glasses back on!"

Cameras need protective filters, too. But Ting offers a classic piece of advice for would-be photographers: "See your first eclipse, photograph your second. I have seen this personally where there is an eclipse, and the person is not looking up; they're fiddling with their camera. And then, before you know it, the eclipse is gone, you never saw it – and you didn't get the picture."

What about the weather?

Of course, all the precautions in the world won't help you if the conditions aren't right. Asked what she'll do if the weather is bad on Monday, White said, "I guess I'll cry. Don't talk to me about the bad stuff."

Fortunately, it's mostly good stuff.

"When you consider that this truly is the Great American Eclipse, because it goes through the center of the United States, it just puts you in awe," White said. "I just know that it's gonna be wonderful. And I'm gonna take it all in, every second of my two minutes, I'm gonna take it in and enjoy."

Cape Town, Surrounds Buffeted by Torrential Rain, High Winds

  • Fires, high winds, flooding cause infrastructure damage
  • Assessments still going on as another day of rain looms

Cape Town, South Africa’s tourism hub, and the surrounding Western Cape province have been battered by torrential rains, howling winds and bush fires that caused extensive damage to buildings, roads and other infrastructure.

Schools were closed in three municipalities to limit traffic on the roads, with storms that began Sunday expected to persist into Monday night, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde said.

Tourist footfall in Karnataka's Hampi lowest in 10 years due to heatwave

The tourist footfall in hampi has gone down from nearly 5,000 per day to around 150 per day on weekends and in double digit on weekdays..

Listen to Story

Hampi

  • Tourist footfall declines at Hampi amid rising temperature
  • Local economy affected, small shops worst hit
  • Poor facilities for the tourists adds to the problem

Amid the rising temperatures in Karnataka, Hampi - a UNESCO World Heritage Site- has recorded the lowest tourist footfall in the last 10 years.

According to the data provided by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Hosapete, MS Divakar, as many as 5,000 tourists visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site per day. However, with the mercury level shooting to 42 degrees Celsius, the number has slumped down to around 150 tourists on weekends and piffling double digits on weekdays.

"Livelihoods are greatly affected for vendors, small shops and establishments. The only way to save us is if it rains for 2 days" Divakar said while speaking to the media.

He also highlighted that in January this year, the tourist footfall was around 25,000 per day and the architectural marvel saw nearly 15 lakh tourists during the three-day Hampi Utsav.

Notably, the southern state of Karnataka has been reeling from an intense heatwave with a sharp decline in rainfall.

Speaking on the decrease in tourist numbers, a local, while speaking to India Today TV, said that facilities for tourists are pitiable in the area and there was a dire need for hotels proximal to the Hampi temple for the working class.

The hotel industry in the area has also taken a hit due to the decrease in the number of tourists, with the occupancy coming down to 30 per cent.

What Solar Eclipse-Gazing Has Looked Like for the Past 2 Centuries

Millions of people on Monday will continue the tradition of experiencing and capturing solar eclipses, a pursuit that has spawned a lot of unusual gear.

  • Share full article

In a black-and-white photo from 1945, nine men, some in military uniforms, stand in the middle of a New York City street. They are holding a small piece of what looks like glass or a photographic negative above their heads to protect their eyes as they watch the eclipse. The original border of the print, as well as some numbers and crop marks drawn onto it, are visible.

By Sarah Eckinger

  • April 8, 2024

For centuries, people have been clamoring to glimpse solar eclipses. From astronomers with custom-built photographic equipment to groups huddled together with special glasses, this spectacle has captivated the human imagination.

Creating a Permanent Record

In 1860, Warren de la Rue captured what many sources describe as the first photograph of a total solar eclipse . He took it in Rivabellosa, Spain, with an instrument known as the Kew Photoheliograph . This combination of a telescope and camera was specifically built to photograph the sun.

Forty years later, Nevil Maskelyne, a magician and an astronomy enthusiast, filmed a total solar eclipse in North Carolina. The footage was lost, however, and only released in 2019 after it was rediscovered in the Royal Astronomical Society’s archives.

tourism 7 days gone

Telescopic Vision

For scientists and astronomers, eclipses provide an opportunity not only to view the moon’s umbra and gaze at the sun’s corona, but also to make observations that further their studies. Many observatories, or friendly neighbors with a telescope, also make their instruments available to the public during eclipses.

Fredrik Hjalmar Johansen, Fridtjof Nansen and Sigurd Scott Hansen observing a solar eclipse while on a polar expedition in 1894 .

Women from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and their professor tested out equipment ahead of their eclipse trip (to “catch old Sol in the act,” as the original New York Times article phrased it) to New London, Conn., in 1922.

A group from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania traveled to Yerbaniz, Mexico, in 1923, with telescopes and a 65-foot camera to observe the sun’s corona .

Dr. J.J. Nassau, director of the Warner and Swasey Observatory at Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland, prepared to head to Douglas Hill, Maine, to study an eclipse in 1932. An entire freight car was required to transport the institution’s equipment.

Visitors viewed a solar eclipse at an observatory in Berlin in the mid-1930s.

A family set up two telescopes in Bar Harbor, Maine, in 1963. The two children placed stones on the base to help steady them.

An astronomer examined equipment for an eclipse in a desert in Mauritania in June 1973. We credit the hot climate for his choice in outfit.

Indirect Light

If you see people on Monday sprinting to your local park clutching pieces of paper, or with a cardboard box of their head, they are probably planning to reflect or project images of the solar eclipse onto a surface.

Cynthia Goulakos demonstrated a safe way to view a solar eclipse , with two pieces of cardboard to create a reflection of the shadowed sun, in Lowell, Mass., in 1970.

Another popular option is to create a pinhole camera. This woman did so in Central Park in 1963 by using a paper cup with a small hole in the bottom and a twin-lens reflex camera.

Amateur astronomers viewed a partial eclipse, projected from a telescope onto a screen, from atop the Empire State Building in 1967 .

Back in Central Park, in 1970, Irving Schwartz and his wife reflected an eclipse onto a piece of paper by holding binoculars on the edge of a garbage basket.

Children in Denver in 1979 used cardboard viewing boxes and pieces of paper with small pinholes to view projections of a partial eclipse.

A crowd gathered around a basin of water dyed with dark ink, waiting for the reflection of a solar eclipse to appear, in Hanoi, Vietnam, in 1995.

Staring at the Sun (or, How Not to Burn Your Retinas)

Eclipse-gazers have used different methods to protect their eyes throughout the years, some safer than others .

In 1927, women gathered at a window in a building in London to watch a total eclipse through smoked glass. This was popularized in France in the 1700s , but fell out of favor when physicians began writing papers on children whose vision was damaged.

Another trend was to use a strip of exposed photographic film, as seen below in Sydney, Australia, in 1948 and in Turkana, Kenya, in 1963. This method, which was even suggested by The Times in 1979 , has since been declared unsafe.

Solar eclipse glasses are a popular and safe way to view the event ( if you use models compliant with international safety standards ). Over the years there have been various styles, including these large hand-held options found in West Palm Beach, Fla., in 1979.

Parents and children watched a partial eclipse through their eclipse glasses in Tokyo in 1981.

Slimmer, more colorful options were used in Nabusimake, Colombia, in 1998.

In France in 1999.

And in Iran and England in 1999.

And the best way to see the eclipse? With family and friends at a watch party, like this one in Isalo National Park in Madagascar in 2001.

We all forget that, in the latter part of the Cold War, a US-led campaign encouraged the Saudis and Gulf states to spend money building Islamic-schools aka Madrassahs around the Muslim world. The aim? To counteract Moscow's widespread soft-power influence in youth-movements and colleges of the anti-colonialist/imperialist anti-western variety. The Saudi/US campaign succeeded all too well in countries like Turkey and Pakistan, and elsewhere, ultimately shifting the balance of power against the Soviets in Afghanistan by funding and training the Mujahideen resistance. But, for reasons still obscure, Washington didn't lean on the Saudis to halt the Wahhabist momentum once the Soviet union collapsed. Radical Islam had gained purchase as the dominant kinetic Muslim ideology. From it came Al Qaeda, ISIS, the Taliban and numerous splinter terror groups. Iran got in on the act, despite being Shiite and anathema to the orthodox Sunni establishment, simply by usurping the political ends of the movement.

Which is where we are today - except for one fundamental difference. The Gulf has changed and Saudi Arabia is following suit. At a certain point, while the Saudis could still depend on oil, the smaller Gulf states decided their future lay in developing their economy as a travel hub and conference center. Real estate boomed in tandem to accomodate the transformation - not just to create hotels but as investment draws for all the grey money sloshing around the Mideast. In essence, the Gulfies got out of the global politics game. They had to. No tourist attraction survives with a fire-breathing puritan religious image. But to move from Islamism to conference centers to full-blown tourism - a lot of internal re-invention was needed.

For a start, the local population needed to embrace a thorough social realignment. Their womenfolk started working, meeting foreigners, meeting men outside the family and the like. Moreover, cultural life and night life had to change. This was not, in the past, a geographical area abounding with culture - or entertainment. At first, the conference center economy drew vast numbers of foreign men in need of entertainment after work hours at conferences. There was little to do. Ubiquitous hotel discos with loitering 'Russian' escorts became the norm - not a good longterm option. Women conferencers felt uncomfortable. Wives around the world discouraged their men from attending. The area got a bad reputation for being a Mideastern equivalent of Las Vegas.

It was time to move on to the next stage - shopping, culture, full blown tourism including female tourists and families. And so, international museums were encouraged to create extensions there. New museums devoted to Islamic Art went on global purchasing sprees. Top designer brands opened branches. The beach economy expanded, videos of hang-gliders floating above skyscrapers proliferated - a sort of artificial glamorous lifestyle was implanted and took hold after a fashion. The Saudis watched on the sidelines. But they had internal obstacles, namely the custodianship of Mecca, religious imperatives, a powerful phalanx of Wahhabi clerics symbiotic with the indigenous culture of the Saudi tribes since the 1700s. The isolated desert settings, the identity shaped by the elements - the flinty, puritan, patriarchal ethos seemed bred-in-the-bone. How could it ever change? The Saudis had their own authentic cultural identity and it was retarding progress beyond oil wealth. Lots of money without social evolution.

Enter Prince Mohammed Bin Salman , the de facto Saudi ruler with iron control for some ten years now. (Hereafter known as MBS). These days if you meet anyone, especially anyone female, from Saudi or doing business there, you'll find them surly and rebellious that the world identifies MBS with the endless war in Yemen, the assassination of journalist Jamal Kashoggi in Turkey, the detaining en masse of his local rivals and the like. Instead, or simultaneously, MBS arguably deserves a reputation for having launched the rebirth of Saudi Arabia on a new future freed of its historical shackles and ossified social hindrances. Essentially, what MBS has done is to initiate a socio-cultural revolution while freezing all political liberalization. Hence for example women can now drive cars solo but women's rights political activists are liable to get jailed. Meanwhile, the state is funding young Saudi women to study classical music in the UK, developing a vibrant fashion industry while conducting its own fashion week and opening up its vast desert hinterlands to international tourism with emphasis on regional attractions and identities. And, of course, the star-studded soccer league headed up by Cristiano Ronaldo.

Most observers in the west simply cannot fathom the multiplex contradictions in the scenario. In fact, taken as a whole, it fits precisely into Islamic tradition going back to the Middle Ages. The most authoritarian rulers often presided over the richest cultural courts. Take the Moghuls of India with epic poetry recited at court, with miniature painting and architecture flourishing to great heights. In the case of MBS, his iron control has kept the clerics and reactionary forces at bay while intimidating top rival businessmen in the elite from funding any subversion at home or rogue Islamist movements abroad. Why has MBS taken this peculiar path? The US is losing interest in protecting fossil fuel allies, especially in the Middle East. The world is turning to clean energy. Other oil powers such as Russia and Iran daily threaten the kingdom's strategic prominence. Oil qua oil is no longer a dependable solo bet.

Gmail And YouTube Hackers Bypass Google s 2FA Account Security

Apple confirms innovative iphone 16 pro upgrade, it s going to zero legendary billionaire predicts rapid cataclysmic u s dollar collapse and a 5 trillion post halving bitcoin price boom.

And Saudi's population is exploding. The economy desperately needs diversifying. Hence the Prince's decision to shift the wealth of Aramco to a national sovereign fund. MBS has seen the economic pluralism chosen by Gulf neighbors and decided to emulate them in what he thinks is the safest way - with complete internal control. Which is also why he chose detente with Iran and Russia, and a potential strategic deal with China if the US backs away. These are not the kind of regimes that demand political freedoms from their allies. The old alignments and heirarchies are all in play both in domestic and foreign policy, not to mention religious policy. For the society that controls Islam’s holiest sites to set an example of radical social change, well, let’s say it will affect the wider Muslim world, even the world as a whole.
