When is the best time to do a tour from Lima?

Peru is a fascinating country with four distinct geographical regions. Not many countries can offer beaches, mountains, rainforests and deserts in one visit. These distinct regions offer something for everyone, which is why most Intrepid tours from Lima operate all year round.

June, July and August are considered the driest months in the Highlands and Amazon basin and are optimal for hiking and river journeys. However, even during the rainy season in the Amazon, the rains only fall for a few hours at a time. In the Andes, the rainy season can sometimes just mean a bit of overcast weather. The advantage to travelling in these areas at this time is that many other travellers make the mistake of postponing their plans until the dry season, leaving you with more of Peru to yourself.

The best time to visit the infamous Nazca Lines or the coastal areas is from December to April, although the other months of the year are perfectly good times to visit as well. Remember that the Inca Trail is closed for cleaning during February, although there are other treks to Machu Picchu which are available at this time.

Can I drink the tap water in Peru?

Drinking tap water isn't recommended in Peru . I t's also advisable to avoid ice in drinks and peel fruit and vegetables before eating . Your local leader will be able to help you find filtered water, and for environmental reasons, we suggest filling a reusable bottle to avoid buying plastic bottles.

How can I get to Machu Picchu?

Many travellers fly into the capital of Cusco before taking the train or choosing a hiking tour. The stepping stone to Machu Picchu is Ollantaytambo, about 1.5 hours away from Cusco by bus.

From Ollantaytambo, the most common ways to get to Machu Picchu are:

  • Hiking the Inca Trail (one way to Machu Picchu)
  • Taking the equally scenic and rewarding Quarry Trail
  • Trekking the challenging 8-day Choquequirao Trail

Do I need to purchase travel insurance before traveling?

Absolutely. All passengers traveling with Intrepid are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your leader on the first day of the trip. Due to the varying nature, availability and cost of health care around the world, travel insurance is very much an essential and necessary part of every journey.

Thank you Inkayni Peru Tours, excellent team with Adrian, Miguel, and Piero. At my arrival, I met with Miguel and the driver Piero, Adrian is a great guide, since the first time he made us feel at home, he does not matter if you make many questions during the trip, and I really enjoyed with the company of Adrian. In addition, the driver Piero was charming since the first moment we meet him, also is a good driver because all the time he make us feel safe. Highly recommended Inkayni Perú Tours to organize your visit to Machu Picchu and other interesting attractions. Definitely I will come back to continue exploring this incredible land, I still need to know many places.

Pretour Comms were great: fast and clear. Tour logistics were good enough and daily communication clear. Few minor aspects unexpected eg additional meal costs, rental of equipment (sleeping bags, mattress). Local guides, porters were great ( as expected). At times the encouragement to tip all service providers felt excessive. Overall a good tour, given the small group and pricing.

Premium Peru Tour

Premium Peru

Loved Peru. I found the people take great pride in their cities, culture and history and it shows in how clean the streets are, how great the food is and how wonderful the guides are. Loved the wildlife, the scenery and archeological sites too. My only downside was the airport.. Delayed flights and when trying to return home, no signage to show the directions from domestic (Cusco to Lima) to international section of airport. When I asked for help, I was told to go out the door, come back in the door next to it, only to find out that I needed to go outside, go to section adjacent and then go upstairs to departures which also had no sign there for "international departures". The LATAM staff gave me the run around on my luggage. One person said it would go automatically to Newark another said pick up your luggage in Lima and transfer to United. My luggage never arrived in Lima nor in Newark. When I arrived in Newark the United people said that LATAM was lying as it is never sent on directly and had to be collected and transferred by hand in Lima. I had to file a lost baggage claim upon final arrival in Canada . Still waiting for news.

What people love about peru tours from lima.

Amazing experience! The tour moves quickly so you see a lot in a short amount of time, which is exactly why I love these types of tours. I couldn't of asked for a better guide or group.
A jam-packed, adventure-filled trip. Peru is a nature/adventure traveler's dream and this tour perfectly suits that. The tour was well organized, with comfortable accommodations and very knowledgeable guides to answer any questions. Each day varied with a cultural and activity-based element. My only critique is that I would have liked suggestions from the tour company as to how much spending money to bring (tipping is expected for almost everything) and more restaurant options from the guides on the days that we had free lunches. Overall, it was an incredible tour and I would highly recommend it.
We had a wonderful time. Everyone we interacted with at G Adventures was amazing, including a late night visit from a doctor. Highly recommend this tour!

Watch: MEGADETH Kicks Off 2024 South American Tour In Lima, Peru

MEGADETH played its first concert in six months at the kick-off of the band's South American tour on Saturday, April 6 at Arena 1 in Lima, Peru.

The setlist for the show was as follows:

01. The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! (live debut) 02. Dread And The Fugitive Mind 03. Devil's Island (first time since 2014) 04. Hangar 18 05. Wake Up Dead 06. In My Darkest Hour 07. Sweating Bullets 08. Hook In Mouth 09. Trust 10. Tornado Of Souls 11. À Tout Le Monde 12. We'll Be Back 13. Symphony Of Destruction 14. Peace Sells 15. Mechanix 16. Holy Wars... The Punishment Due

Fan-filmed video can be seen below.

Finnish guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari joined MEGADETH last September after the band's longtime axeman Kiko Loureiro , announced earlier that month that he would sit out the next leg of MEGADETH 's "Crush The World" tour in order to stay home with his children back in Finland. It was later revealed that Mäntysaari would continue to play guitar for MEGADETH for the foreseeable future, with Loureiro seemingly having no plans to return.

The 37-year-old Mäntysaari was born in Tampere, Finland and began playing guitar at the age of 12. In 2004, he joined the band WINTERSUN . He has also been a member of SMACKBOUND since 2015.

MEGADETH played its first concert with Mäntysaari on September 6, 2023 at Revel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Loureiro officially joined MEGADETH in April 2015, about five months after Chris Broderick 's exit from the group.

MEGADETH 's sold-out shows at Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14, 2024 will be broadcast live on Veeps . Fans will also have the exclusive opportunity to snag MEGADETH merch, including a poster and a limited-edition tee, that will only be available for purchase on Veeps during the livestream. Veeps All Access subscribers can access the shows for free as part of their subscription. Otherwise tickets are on sale for $14.99 for each show or $24.99 for both shows on veeps.com/megadeth .

Since its inception in 1983, MEGADETH has ascended from its raw thrash metal roots to become an unstoppable force in the heavy metal world. With founder Dave Mustaine at the helm, MEGADETH 's journey has been marked by a penchant for pushing the boundaries of speed, technicality, and complexity in their music. Their groundbreaking album "Rust In Peace" , released in 1990, is frequently cited as a seminal work in the thrash metal genre. Along with the critically acclaimed "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" , it cemented MEGADETH 's place in the annals of metal history.

Over four decades, the band's discography has earned numerous certifications, including platinum and multi-platinum awards, with albums like "Countdown To Extinction" and "Youthanasia" achieving widespread critical acclaim. 2016's "Dystopia" not only marked a high point with their first Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" after twelve nominations but also set the stage for their latest triumph, "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" in 2022. MEGADETH 's status as part of the "Big Four" of thrash metal underscores their trailblazing role in the genre, laying the groundwork for countless bands and musicians who have followed in their wake.

"Megadeth: Live From Buenos Aires" will be available for free for Veeps All Access subscribers, or fans can buy an individual show ticket for $14.99 or a ticket to view both shows for $24.99 at veeps.com/megadeth . The shows will air live on Veeps on April 13 and April 14 at approximately 9 p.m. Argentina Time (ART). The shows will be available on Veeps for two years after the original air dates, with a seven-day rewatch period for individual ticket purchasers.

Not recommended. What I recommend is a hard pass on this tour

This tour was not worth the time, and it’s a lot of time on a bus to be rushed from site to site, just so they can stop at contracted restaurants for their kickbacks. In all fairness, if one is doing the complete circuit, maybe the Peru Hop could be an option, but definitely not for this tour from Lima. On the positive side, the organization of picking us up at our hotel and their always ensuring everyone is present and where they should be is flawless. Unfortunately that’s where it ends. The visit to the slave tunnels was superficial at best. This was one of two stops that should be eliminated. Especially as it meant we needed to rush to Paracas because they have a contracted restaurant they’d like you to order lunch from. No thanks. Speaking of Paracas. Meh. The Ballestas Islands (rocks) is a very long stretch to describe as a mini Galápagos Islands. A few sea lions, penguins and sea birds on a rock, are, well, a few sea lions, penguins and sea birds on a rock. Not really breathtaking from a tour boat. The National Park in Paracas was slightly more interesting but as we needed to go to the Pisco wine tasting we were rushed through. Great, all onto a new minibus whereby the driver maybe should’ve gotten directions on how to get there. Following the route on google maps making a huge circle to get there. Pisco testing, forget it. Rush through the kickback lunch as we’re again late and need to rush to Huacachina. This tour is simply poorly plotted for the allotted time- unless of course you enjoy sitting on the bus. And just to highlight how ludicrous this was. The ride back to Lima at night where everybody was trying to sleep was interrupted from the bus driver who thought it would be a good idea to play music on the ride home. Sorry, but of our 18 day trip to Peru, these two days were our least favorite bordering on torture. Do yourself a favor and hop right past booking this tour

Unreal experience. Diego is an absolute legend. He made our tour unforgettable and helped us out along the way multiple times!!! Riding the dune buggy’s and sand boarding was my favourite part. We’d love to do it again next time we visit. Gracias to Diego and his coworkers 🙏

tours of lima peru

Tour was amazing. Well worth the price. Was very organized and seemless from activity to activity. Diego made sure the group remained together at all stops and took our food orders for restaurants before we arrived. Favorite part of the trip was Huacachina where we had about 3 hours. I would definitely recommended spending more time here if you can! But the tour was fantastic, the bus was comfortable and came equipped with usb outlets in the seat for charging. Glad we went with this one.

Diego was an awesome guide!! The bus was nice and spacious and he was very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend touring with him!!

Such an amazing tour! Remember to bring cash and to tip the various guides along the way. They honestly went above and beyond on all accounts. The dune buggy tour includes a roller-coaster like ride, belly boarding at multiple spots and watching the sunset. The bus is extremely comfortable, with AC and reclining seats. No complaints!

Views were amazing. Day was well organised. Staff were helpful and well informed. Day ran smoothly. Lots of great pictures to be taken and memories to be made on this trip. Diego was very nice and helpful
