Campus Tour Information
Tour information, location of communication sciences and disorders department.
Thank you for your interest in our Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) programs at Western Washington University. The Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic main entrance is located on the second floor (this is the ground floor) of Academic Instructional Center. The building is abbreviated either AI or AIC on campus maps. Please meet your student tour guide on the 3rd floor in the center open lobby area by the elevator.
Driving Directions to the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD)
- Stay right.
- Turn right onto S. Samish Way.
- Quickly merge into the leftmost lane.
- Turn left at the stop sign.
- At the stoplight, turn left onto S. Samish Way.
- Go straight through the next stoplight.
- Merge into the leftmost lane.
- Turn left onto Bill MacDonald Parkway.
- Follow Bill MacDonald Parkway until it ends.
- Turn left onto W. College Way.
- Turn right onto Wade King Service Road.
- Continue north on Wade King Service Road. until it ends at a stop sign.
- Make a slightly sharp right onto 21st Street. The athletic field should stay on your right.
- At the stop sign, go straight over the bricks into Parking Lot 19G.
- Once inside the parking lot, turn right and travel southward toward the end of the lot.
- Park in any “WWU Clinic Client” space. If no Clinic Client space is available, you may park in any open space.
- Display your parking pass on your rearview mirror before exiting your vehicle.
From Parking Lot 19G to the Clinic:
- The clinic is located east from the parking lot, the opposite direction of the athletic field.
- Move eastward along the narrow concrete walkway between the row of hedges. The concrete becomes a wide brick path in approximately 10 feet.
- Depending on where you parked in the lot and which gap between the hedges you took, you may need to turn left and travel northward briefly to skirt around Academic Instructional Center West.
- Once north of Academic Instructional Center West, follow the brick pathway eastward. Keep the planter areas at your right and the raised grass area at your left.
- When the planter area to your right ends, keep traveling straight (due east) until a new planter area begins.
- At the next gap between planter areas, turn right (south) and enter the carpeted building vestibule. The door button opens both the exterior and interior set of doors.
- Once through the second set of doors, travel over carpet to the first door on the left (east), approximately 10 feet inside the building.
- Continue straight (due east) over carpet toward the reception area with the wall at your right.
Visual Guide from the Parking Lot
View from the parking lot looking east (away from the athletic field). You will see a white/gray concrete staircase in the grassy area. Keep that “Staircase to Nowhere” on your left and walk toward the trees on the hill.
The interactive parking map can help with parking locations. Visitor parking is usually available in Parking Lot C (C/CR), where you will need to purchase a visitor pass from the kiosks. Depending on the time of day parking can be limited, so we suggest you arrive early to ensure you find a parking spot. Full Campus Tour
You can also schedule a full campus tour through the admissions office . A discounted parking rate of $4 per day is available to guests. To receive your discount at a parking kiosk, you will need your license plate number and the code found in your confirmation email for the full campus tour.

Private Shows
We are now scheduling for Spring Quarter 2024. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings between 10am and 2pm. Wednesday evenings between 5pm and 7pm.
Private shows by appointment only. Shows must be scheduled two weeks in advance .
Our shows are recommended for ages 8 and up.
All shows are in line with the Next Generation Science Standards for grades 4 to 12.
Our group shows are offered for $135 and are 35 minutes long, we can accommodate 45 people. To schedule a show, please email planetarium @wwu.edu with your request.
The planetarium is staffed on a part time bases and scheduling requests can take a week to process. To expedite the process, please include the following information in your e-mail:
- Main contact name and e-mail
- Organization (school, grade, ect.)
- Approx. age/grade of guests
- Anticipated number of guests (including chaperones!)
- Preferred dates/times
Please note that shows are scheduled on a first come, first serve bases on the availability of the planetarium.
When your show has been scheduled, you will be sent a link to purchase your ticket. Tickets must be purchased two weeks before the show date to reserve your show. You will receive a confirmation e-mail once purchase has been confirmed with parking and arrival information (also found on our website).
Thanks to a grant from BP p.l.c., Whatcom County Public school 4th and 5th grade classes can attend private shows with no charge. Please inquire with planetarium staff.

Locating the Box Office
The WWU Box Office is located in the lobby of the Performing Arts Center ("PAC") at Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.
We are also located outside the front doors of Carver Gym and adjacent to the main gate at Harrington Field. We will be open and staffed at those locations for ticketed events.
Payment Policies
We accept cash and major bank cards as forms of payment. We do not offer refunds or exchanges.
Online Purchases
You can purchase tickets online through Tickets.com . A convenience fee is added for online ticket puchases. The convenience fee is nonrefundable, even in the event of a cancelled performance or event.
Discount Categories
Discount tickets are available per the discretion of each event coordinator and may not be available for all events. To see if the event you are interested in has discount tickets available, please call the WWU Box Office at (360) 650-6146 .
Discounts are available in person at the WWU Box Office with the proper ID and over the phone. Please note that WWU Student discounts are not available over the phone and must be purchased in person at the WWU Box Office. Discounts are available online for selected events.

Tickets purchased 10 or more days prior to the event can be mailed. There is a $1 mailing fee per order. Tickets purchased within 10 days of the event will be available for pick up at will call.

The College of the Environment is home to Environmental Studies, Environmental Sciences, and Urban & Environmental Planning & Policy.
The College of Science and Engineering is home to Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering & Design, Geology, Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy, and Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education (SMATE).
Fairhaven College is home to Interdisciplinary majors such as American Cultural Studies, Education & Social Justice, and Law, Diversity & Justice.
The Institute for Energy Studies (IES) is a multi-college collaboration that offers interdisciplinary undergraduate degrees to address the science, technology, policy, business and economic aspects of energy systems. Current programs include Energy Policy & Management and Energy Science & Technology.
Marine and Coastal Science (MACS) is an interdisciplinary program at Western Washington University with core and affiliated faculty in units across the university, drawing together the wealth of expertise in multiple departments and at Shannon Point Marine Center.

Take a tour of Viking Union (VU), where many campus clubs and organizations live, such as the Associated Students, Ethnic Student Center, KUGS 89.3 FM, Multicultural Center, and more!
Tours leave every 15 minutes beginning at 8:30 AM. The last tour leaves at 9:30

Join an Academic Department, Financial Aid, or Study Abroad session.
Go inside the residence halls and check out an actual dorm room.
We'll be providing complimentary lunch to all students and guests at our dining halls.
At the Student Resource and Support Services fair, you will find representatives from Financial Aid, New Student Services, Housing, and more!
45-minute walking tours of campus will begin every half-hour.
There will be a variety of sessions for students and families to attend, including Honors, Study Abroad, Financial Aid, Student Panel, BIPOC Student Panel, Parent Panel, New Students Services/Family Outreach, Academic Advising & Student Achievement Center, and Housing.
Break the ice and get to know your future classmates! Attend this fun session led by a current WWU student. More details to come!
Getting to Campus
From Interstate 5, take Exit #252 (Samish Way and WWU). Turn west onto Samish Way and follow the signs for Bill McDonald Parkway and the University Campus.
Parking for Admitted Student Days is complimentary! Refer to your confirmation email for parking and check-in information.
Important Travel Note:
Due to other events in the area, we anticipate that hotel room vacancies in Bellingham and the surrounding communities will be limited. If you are traveling for Admitted Student Days and plan on staying overnight, please be sure to reserve your accommodations as soon as possible.

Western will also be offering Admitted Student Fridays in April. These free events are great opportunities to hear from current students, tour campus, and meet with student services offices. The program is comprehensive with a full-day agenda, but if you wish to meet with a specific academic department, we suggest reaching out to them at least two weeks in advance of your visit.

Group visits are available for high school students, transfer students, and/or Compass 2 Campus partnered school groups. Spring quarter group visits are reserved for high school and transfer student groups only. Groups are limited to 45 individuals per visit. Take a tour of the Wade King Student Recreation Center which features 100,000 square feet of indoor recreational and athletic space. The facility includes three basketball/volleyball courts, a six-lane swimming pool with activity area, two cardio exercise areas, two group fitness rooms, a 1/10-mile three-lane indoor track, climbing and bouldering walls, a weight room, and a multi-activity court.
