My interior lights wont turn off. WTF???

How do I get my interior lights to turn off? All the lights inside the cabin wont turn off. I cant even "click" them off. All the doors are closed tight including the rear lift gate. I even tried to rotate the bright/dim knob all the way down and it still wont turn off. I know if you rotate the dimmer knob all the way up, it would turn on the interiors so NO, the knob is not all the way up. HELP!!!!! I had to pull out all the light bulbs so i could drive at night. What gives?????? :help:

OMG, I didnt know that this lighting problem could result to a cabin fire! Um.....its not fixed yet. I still have all the bulbs pulled out so I could drive at night. My darn internship is getting in the way of bringing my Durango in. But car fire?!?!?!?! Hmmmmmm....I might need to risk my internship than my life....or my garage connected to my house. Whats funny is that just the other day I said "wow, i havent had a problem with the 2nd gen durangos even after a year and a half. Not like my problematic 1999 durango." Go figure.  

Yeah, I'd park it outside just in case. Better safe than sorry.

In some cases, the fix is easy, while other times, you might need to take a few extra minutes to resolve the problem. Either way, leaving the light on can get distracting and cause danger when trying to see what’s ahead of you at night.

• Bend the metal plate so that it stays away from the circuit using a screwdriver.
• Remove the screwdriver to check if the plate is still making contact with the light circuit. If it doesn’t, reinstall the console and the lights will be turned OFF.

The interior lights of your Hyundai Elantra won’t turn OFF because of faulty switches on car doors and improperly shut doors. There are individual switches on the doors of the car.

Interior Lights don't turn off need HELP

I can't turn off the interior lights, in park mode or even while driving. They're freakin hot now. Which fuse do i have to take out to disable the interior lights? No Door Ajar error, i checked all the doors, trunk and the switches.  

it turned off it's self, after a half an hour, the battery is still ok.. thanks for your help!

my wife freaked out about the same issue. Turned out she had accidently hit the rotary dimmer switch while cleaning. DOH!

Interior lights wont turn off

So a few days ago my interior lights went on and wouldn't turn off at all. They stay on when I'm driving and they stay on when I get out. I'm assuming there is something wrong with the door and whatever switch is supposed to be hit isn't when the door gets closed. I'm just not sure what to do, was fiddling around with the door last night and got it to turn off when I sat in the car but now its staying on again. Any easy fix to this? Wanted to see before I go to the dealer  

Did you accidentally bump the light switch all the ways up? that will keep the lights on all the time. lol

Yeah, you turn it all the way up & it's in "parade mode" it's got a 'click' to it when you turn it up that far.  

@ ACE - I noticed you list "Underglow LED Strips" as one of your Dart's Mods ... I'm curious what you tapped into to power/control these lights? ... Perhaps it is related to your interior light woes.  

Ah i need to edit that. Took those out about a month ago. I believe it is unrelated to that. I was messing with the two rubber knobs on the inside of the actual door (near the bottom corner) and that was what worked before. There are holes they fit into when you close the door. Did it once when I was inside the car but I didn't know what I did exactly but they turned off like normal when I closed the door. Now idk what those even do but I looked up a youtube video that night and that was how someone else fixed their car, obviously it was a different car though.  

Just an update on the problem. Went into the dealership today. Service airbag light on and talked about interior lights. Two and a half hours later after running diagnostics and $250 out of pocket they found that I was missing a fuse which caused air bag lights to come on. And they said the LEDs I replaced the regular interiors with were back drawing power and they were the source of the problem. Just wanted to update you all for info in case someone else comes along with this problem Opinions on the LEDs though? I installed them a good 3-4 months before the problem.

Ik this is old but, I had the same problem, I sat in my car for about 10 minutes frustrated and trying to figure it out, then put on my seatbelt and it allowed me to turn off the lights lmfao, I’m new to cars and didn’t know that the car won’t let you alter those lights until the seatbelts on, hope this helps someone one day haha

Issue started yesterday night on the 10th was driving home and noticed that 4 of my overhead lights were dimly glowing tried turning the off using the dimmer but that did the lights are the oem led

only the trunk light have been switched no problems occurred with that switch

Interior lights won't turn on

No light inside my car will turn on, i have a 2014 rt challenger and recently installed a new radio system. I have checked all fuses and cannot figure out the problem. I could use some help.

That is about the extent of my knowledge. When you plugged in the new radio system did you knick a wire or forget a connector/connection? Is there any programming involved? I understand from previous posts, by other members, that changing out radios, or adding remote starts, affects other things. As a test have you tried reinstalling the original radio? Sorry if I'm making more work for you. But I'm guessing in the most simplistic terms. The computer may be seeing something it doesn't like. Traffic signal systems work with components and if the computer/timer doesn't like what it sees it puts the intersection to Flash. You may have to have a shop look at it that does radio installs, as a last resort.
