Annapurna Yoga trek

Annapurna Trekking with Yoga

Yoga trek Annapurna region in Nepal is one of the unique ways of trekking with Yoga and meditation while enjoying the serene beauties of the tallest and most spiritual mountain range in the vast Himalayas. Mountain Monarch comes up with a yoga trek in the Annapurna region. We customize the yoga trekking itinerary, ensuring relaxed walking on the foothill of Annapurna. No worries for acute mountain sickness, exploring the less trodden trail with Yoga practice on the back dropped of giant Himalayas.

Yoga trek Annapurna - a completely new and different way of exploration and meditation on the Himalayas.

To start the Yoga trek in Annapurna, we take the short drive and start our relaxing pace of walking to the Sirubari. This is the model ethnic village in Nepal having Homestay. Further, it is situated at around 1700 meters with the ethnic settlement of the Gurung people. You are welcome into the community and invited to stay in the local family home. Typically you will be eating meals as a family member that allow you to witness and experience the local ethnic group lifestyle and their culture firsthand. Furthermore, we hike to Panchase via a less-trodden trekking route in the Annapurna region.

Furthermore, we trek to the Panchase over 2500 meters. Besides that, it offers a great panoramic view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges along with Fishtail and Manaslu peaks. Panchase, literally meaning five sacred seats, is an ancient pilgrimage climb. This Panchase is a holy place for Yoga practice at the same time. Panchase means five religious seats, which is an old pilgrimage climb. The climb itself holds tremendous significance in Yoga. It is believed that sagas were mediated many centuries ago at the Shiddi Baba temple (Lord Shiva), Homekunda (place for the ritual of offering fire), Panchase lake, Balaji Phachyan temple, and Buddha Stupa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any recommendations on which high altitude trekking insurance to buy ā€“ that would include everything we need (heli evac + covid cover etc.)? (brand/company)

I recommend using Trailfinders or another travel insurance covering helicopter evacuation in Nepal up to 6000m. Last I checked, with Trailfinders, it was Ā£102 for 15days with a Ā£500 excess if you were to need to use the insurance.

What kind of bags/suitcases should we bring? Shall we have a smaller backpack for the day hikes, assuming the rest of our things (incl. sleeping bags/stuff we need overnight) will be carried by the porters (and those can be in the suitcases or duffel bags)?

You will need a day back pack (ideally with waist straps) to carry what you need for the days walk ā€“ a warm layer, water, sun cream, sun hat, gloves, warm hat. For the porter to carry, if you have a large travelling backpack, that would be ideal. Otherwise, you can have suitcase and they will arrange a duffle bag for you for the porter to carry your things you need for overnight. You will have 7.5kg each to be carried with a porter. Ref sleeping bags, you can borrow from the company we work with on the ground if you do not have one, but they are not sanitized in between usages, so maybe a sleeping bag liner (cotton or silk) would be preferable.

What is the toilet situation along the trek and is there anything we should know? Is it worth investing in a urinal device for ladies, or not really required?

All guesthouses have toilets ā€“ roughly every hour or two there is a Guest House in lower altitudes ā€“ as we get into the higher altitudes ā€“ toilets are squatting toilets in Guest Houses, and Guest Houses become less frequent ā€“ on the pass day there will be places to find privacy but no guest houses until close to the end. Best to be prepared for all hygiene conditions. The urinal device not needed.

How often will there be hot showers on the way?

Hot showers are in every Guest House until higher up where a hot water bucket can be arranged ā€“ additional fees for showers / hot water buckets are not included in the price ā€“ generally fees only apply in higher altitude Guest Houses. ($1-5 per hot shower / water bucket)

If I get my period during the trek, do you have any tips on how to prepare taking this into account?

I recommend having tampons and Tampax, hand sanitiser, bag to keep waste with you, and a small pack of wipes for when you need to find a private place away from the trail ā€“ all can be easily done and not something to worry about.

What is the drinking water situation? Shall we bring a reusable water bottle, not to use the plastic ones? What about the water purification tablets ā€“ would those be useful/necessary?

Best to have a bottle with a purifier/ filter incorporated. You can get some tablets in Kathmandu if you want, but chorine tablets are not good for our microbiome so I generally try and avoid taking them were possible. You can also buy safe drinking water / boiled water along the way or water bottles ā€“ but this contributes the the plastic problem in Nepal so I would advise against it.

Whatā€™s the mobile signal and wifi availability along the trek?

Most of the places weā€™ll be staying over night will provide wifi at a cost ($2), but the signal is relatively bad in the mountains for UK networks. You can get a local sim card from the airport if you want.

Do you have any specific vitamins/supplements you would recommend pre- and during the trek?

Omega 3, spirulina & magnesium

How much money will I need outside of whatā€™s included:

Good to have equivalent of Ā£300 in Nepali cash ā€“ we will take you to a ATM in Kathmandu when you arrive. You could get away with spending less. You will need cash for any additional drinks in the mountains (eg. beer, mineral water, fizzy drinks, snacks, wifi, sometimes a shower charge, sometimes a phone charge) money for meals in the cities, entrance to cultural sites, additional activities and taxis, meals arenā€™t expensive but alcohol is charged closer to western prices, Nepal is a great place to buys gifts cheaply or enjoy a massage cheaply. We will all be giving tips to our local guide and our shared porter.

PHYSICAL CONDITION REQUIREMENT Discovery Mountain Trek can offer advice and recommendations about health requirements but it is the individual responsibility of each trekker to acquire any necessary documents and medical care. The information on the technical sheet provided is indicative, it is your responsibility to check with the authorities concerned for the exact requirements for your chosen destination at the time of travel.Ā If you do not obtain any necessary medical consultations or travel documents and are not allowed to enter a country, or suffer personal injury or death as a result, we have no liability to you for any cost, loss or damage which you suffer nor will we refund you the cost of any unused portion of your travel arrangements.Ā It is your responsibility to comply with the regulations and procedures of police, customs and health at all times throughout your trip.

BEST TIME TO TRAVEL The best time to trek to the Everest Base Camp Trek is in spring (February to May) and autumn (September to November). The temperature is moderate in these seasons and guarantees amazing views through the trip. Although this trek can be undertaken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone.

GUIDE & STAFF ARRANGEMENT The most significant thing that makes this trek enjoyable and memorable is the skilled, experienced and helpful Guide and crew member who have the ability of guiding our trek on the mountain smoothly. Our trip will be led by the best and most professional Guide. All of Discovery Mountain Trekking Guideā€™s Ā are carefully selected on the basis of their appropriate experience, skills and personal aptitude. With an objective of sustaining local communities, Discovery Mountain only employs local Staff, who have knowledge about culture, ecosystem, flora, fauna, geography, and history of their local region.

PORTER CARE We are firmly committed to porter rights. We make sure that all our porters are well treated, well paid and we provide the level of shelter, clothing and footwear that these harsh environments demand. Porters who become sick are treated with the same care and attention as other team members and we have previously used helicopters – at our expense – to rescue porters from dangerous situations. We support the work of the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG), making our resources available to them to help improve the working conditions of the porters. International Porters Progress Group.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS The Everest Region is stunningly beautiful, but equally fragile. Future generations have just as much of a right to appreciate it as much as we do. Ā Therefore, we believe that the tourism industry has an obligation to protect and preserve it. Discovery Mountain employs a ‘zero impact’ policy on the natural environment and the traditional communities that live there. Discovery Mountain, therefore, enforces a number of do’s and don’ts. Please talk to your trek leader to avoid environmental impacts.

TRAVEL INSURANCE It is a condition upon joining any of Discovery Mountainā€™sĀ  trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). Please note that we don’t arrange or sell insurance.

ACCLIMATIZATION This trekā€™s itinerary is planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up at higher altitudes too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to result in death. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen will be in the air. For example, at an altitude above of 5000m, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Therefore, our body needs many days to adapt to an environment with less oxygen. During this trip, we take rest in Namche Bazaar and Dingboche which will help us acclimatize to the high altitude.
