Situated in and around the city are popular Baguio tourist spots such as Burnham Park and Mines View Park, which are staples on most Baguio tours . The area is also known for its diverse art scene that shows off the best of the region's traditional creations and more contemporary installments, some of which you can find inside the BencaB Museum.

  • Book your Baguio hotels here

The chefs here take inspiration from Kapampangan cuisine, which originated from the province of Pampanga , the Culinary Capital of the Philippines. Taste the difference between a slow-cooked meal when you take a spoonful of their popular beef caldereta (tomato-based stew), pork binagoongan (pork in shrimp paste), and dinuguan rice (rice with blood stew).

For vegetarians or guests looking to add more greens to their meals, the restaurant serves Baguio veggies and red eggs with a tomato salad. After finishing your meal, you can cap it off with a cup of their classic Choco-late de Batirol. While it is traditionally served warm to complement the Baguio's cool temperature, guests can also request it iced.

As an establishment that values nature, the restaurant also uses recycled materials to create tables, chairs, and other materials that help make it a charming spot for all visitors.

Another great pairing for Baguio's cold weather is a warm bowl of ramen. When you're craving this popular Japanese dish, you can head to Agara Ramen along North Drive. This is one of the newer restaurants in Baguio that serve authentic Japanese ramen, and you can even watch the chefs prepare the whole dish at the ramen bar, where you can also sit down to enjoy your bowl of noodles. You can choose from six different types of ramen that will fill your mouth with the classic umami flavor.

A crowd favorite is the Chuka Soba, made with broth from pork, chicken, five types of dried fish, and vegetables. Another popular menu item is the Tsukumen, which gives guests a new way of eating ramen. When ordering a serving of Tsukumen, the noodles are served cold and separately from the bowl of broth. You will then dip the noodles in the broth before eating them.

To accompany your bowl of ramen, you can also order popular side dishes such as a plate of gyoza, chicken kara-age, wagyu beef cubes, and Ebi tempura. As for beverages, Agara Ramen serves mugicha, a cold Japanese barley tea, and mugicha wari, a Japanese cocktail made by mixing barley tea with soju.

Situated on a ridge in San Carlos Heights, the Foggy Mountain Cookhouse offers its guests a spacious alfresco dining area. The restaurant gives off a cozy ambiance as it is the home of its owner, Chef Babes Reyes. True to its name, patrons can get a great view of the landscape, often covered in some fog, when sitting in the alfresco area. The entire menu draws a lot of inspiration from the cuisine in the Mediterranean, which consists of healthy recipes that make use of olive oil, fruits, and vegetables.

The restaurant is well-known for its oven-roasted whole chicken, which is butterflied and marinated with fresh Italian herbs before being placed in a brick oven. Another favorite is the porchetta, which is Chef Babes' take on the classic Italian roast pork. For his version, the dish is a rolled boneless pork belly seasoned with Mediterranean herbs, red wine, and raisins.

To ensure that each guest eats a delicious meal, the cookhouse requires everyone to book a reservation at least one day before their preferred date. Chef Babes also encourages guests to pre-order as some dishes may take a whole day to properly season and prepare.

Canto has been shifting locations in the past year, and I first tried their cuisine in the Ketchup Community near Wright Park. They are now located in Kisad Road near Burnham Park with a more spacious and newly designed restaurant. The crowd always follows them for their tasty recipes and enormous servings wherever they go. Iyouto visit Canto, we recommend their lomo ribs, a bestseller in town. Its pork ribs are grilled to perfection and bathed with barbecue sauce partnered with vegetable salad and mashed potato. Read more about our experience in Canto Bogchi Joint here.

I first tried this place in 2017, and its menu prices are shockingly low. Good Taste Restaurant is perfect for family gatherings and big groups; it’s also open 24/7. So whenever you arrive at Baguio late and hungry, this restaurant is always ready to serve you. We ordered their sinigang na baboy (tamarind-based soup with pork meat and vegetables) and buttered chicken for 5-6 persons, and we only paid less than PHP 500 (USD 10)! When it comes to affordability, Good Taste Restaurant is king!

It started as a small eatery in the 1980s and grew into a restaurant known for its delicious Filipino dishes and Cordilleran cuisine. We recommend their saucy chop suey and chicken pinikpikan , a native Cordilleran dish of bruised chicken and vegetables. Try visiting this restaurant after your short tour of the luscious strawberry farms.

Calajo Restaurant  is located at Km6, Halsema Highway, La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, and they are open Mondays to Saturdays from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM—Contact details: +63-74-422-1219. Click here to go back to the top.

After letting your eyes awash with beautiful paintings and artworks in the BenCab Museum , it’s time to treat yourself to fresh and organic dishes in Cafe Sabel. This food place is located on the ground floor of the famous museum, with a bonus view of their enchanting garden. Cafe Sabel’s relaxing atmosphere will make you enjoy good food while indulging in the beauty of nature.

It is nice to know that the ingredients in every meal come from their farm, freshly produced and picked on the same day for quality and optimal flavor. We recommend BenCab’s Chicken Paprika and Farm Fresh Green Salad with Strawberry Vinaigrette. The strawberry vinaigrette produces a flavorful explosion in an ordinary salad, giving it a unique twist.

Cafe Sabel is located at the ground level of BenCab Museum, Km 6, Asin Road, Tuba, Benguet, Philippines, and they are open every Tuesday to Sunday from 9 AM to 6 PM only. Read more about our memorable experience at Cafe Sabel here. Click here to go back to the top.

Located along Military Cutoff Road, this food place is a crowd’s favorite. With large servings and affordable prices, who will hate this playful diner? We always eat at 50s Diner every time we go to Baguio, and our all-time favorite dish is their  Gangsta-gangsta – a plate loaded with pork chop, fried chicken, spring rolls, vegetables, and rice topped with a fried egg.

Glenn’s 50s Diner  can be found at 166 Military Cutoff Road, Baguio City, Benguet, Philippines, and they are open every day from 7:30 AM to 10:00 PM—contact Details: +63-939-251-2791. Click here to go back to the top.

Upon entering the business, you will immediately notice their uniquely designed beer taps at the centerpiece. Each faucet contains different crafted beers with a touch of both local and international flavors. You can also ask for a free taste before ordering your desired drink. I would recommend their fruit beers; it has the right combination of a sweet and bitter taste. If you want to go “ale the way,” go for the triple-hopped beer. If you’re looking for a unique Cordilleran experience, Farmer’s Daughter Restaurant is the perfect place. The restaurant looks like a nipa hut, similar to the typical houses across different tribes in the mountains of Cordillera. In addition, each meal is partnered with a generous amount of vegetables; you will never fall short of various greens in every dish. 10. Grumpy Joe

Photo of Grumpy Joe in Baguio city

Are you feeling grumpy for being hungry? Why not try Grumpy Joe and let your spirits be lifted? The peculiar name came from the usual expression of the owner’s parents. Nevertheless, this small restaurant offers Filipino and American cuisine at large servings and affordable prices. We recommend their Grumpy Joe Special Burger. It’s paired with potato fries and salad, and you will surely enjoy its flavorful patty. Their fries are one of the best we’ve tried. Grumpy Joe   has two locations: one on Upper Session Road, and the other on Gibraltar Road. Click here to go back to the top.

11. Habibi’s Grill

Photo of Habibis Grill in Baguio City

If you like Persian-Mediterranean cuisines, head on to Habibis Grill. We love their Chicken, and Beef Kebab smothered in their special garlic and hot sauce. Satisfy your sweet tooth cravings at Vizco’s Restaurant and Bakeshop located in the busy Session Road. Its best-seller is their blueberry cheesecake; it’s creamy and not too sweet. They also offer a mix of Oriental and Western Cuisine, and it’s packed with all-day set meals. Vizco has several locations available in Baguio City (Session Road, Camp John Hay, and Luneta Hill Drive). Click here to go back to the top.

13. Lemon and Olives

Photo of Lemon and Olives Restaurant

Lemon and Olives Restaurant is a home for Mediterranean Dishes. It is the first Greek restaurant in Baguio City, and you’ll enjoy its recipes while savoring its rustic vibe. It also has a balcony overlooking the view of mountain ranges and pine trees. We recommend their  Pastitsio , a plate of authentic Greek pasta baked with sweet and sour Bechamel sauce and ground beef. If you love cheese, their Greek-style spaghetti is a sure win! The pasta is topped with melted mozzarella cheese beef sirloin and red sauce.

Lemon and Olives Restaurant is located at #26 Outlook Drive Baguio City. They are open every day from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. You can reach them at +63-74-442-4079. Click here to go back to the top.

14. Oh, My Gulay!

Photo of Oh My Gulay Restaurant in Baguio City

Oh My Gulay is another prime spot in Session Road. It’s not just a restaurant; it’s also an art place! Other woodwork and foliage decorate this place; you’ll never think you are in a restaurant. We recommend their Brotsa ni Antonio Luna  (Pesto Pasta with Homemade Sauce) and  Pansit Gulay ni Pepe! The names of their dishes are pretty funny, but the taste is genuinely palatable! Oh My Gulay is located on the 5th Floor of the La Azotea Building on Session Road, just across from Baguio Cathedral. They are open every day except Tuesdays from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Click here to go back to the top.

Photo of Baguio Coffee Shop

Common Ground | Coffee & Other Tings

It will always be a staple to find a café in Baguio. Situated on Burnham Street, Common Ground | Coffee & Other Tings gives off a sense of exclusivity to its patrons. It may not be easy to spot from the high-traffic paths of downtown, but it maintains certain customers that primarily work remotely. On top of the nice place they have, they also offer an attractive range of pastries and beverages, from coffee to non-coffee based, to their recipe for the ‘other tings.’ Drinks range from PHP 100 to PHP 180, while pies start at PHP 70 to PHP 298.

Foam Coffee

Elevated across the Baguio City Hall, Foam Coffee is open 24/7 for those who want to stay up or work late. The Interior of the café is relevant to the trending brutalist design of such concrete polished walls, wood element on the fixtures, and lighting, as well as the long counter that station the cashier and barista’s area. This is also an IG-worthy place for online people to take photos. Their menu includes coffee and non-coffee drinks, signature drinks with their formula, iced tea, sparkling beverages, and some desserts. Click here to go back to the top.

Other Restaurants to Try

Photo of Yasuragi and Pet's Bulaluhan

Lastly, if you are looking for a Japanese restaurant, you can also try Yasuragi at Quezon Hill Road. This restaurant offers rolls, sushi, and noodles. However, if you want to warm up the cold nights at Baguio City, head on to Pet’s Bulaluhan on Governor Pack Road. It’s a small eatery, but this is our top favorite! Fight the cold night of Baguio City with their flavorful Bulalo (bone marrow broth) partnered with Pork Sisig. Click here to go back to the top.

Baguio City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country — especially during the summer months! Nestled in the picturesque mountains in the Cordillera Region, this city is known for its cool climate, fresh produce such as strawberries, cultural and heritage sites, and various cafes and restaurants that serve local delicacies.

It is also known as the “ Summer Capital of the Philippines ” and occasionally referred to as the “ City of Pines ” due to the abundance of pine trees in the city.

Over the years, the city has gone tremendous development as more establishments were built in the area. However, for many people visiting here is still as amazing as ever, maybe even more because of the new attractions — not to mentions its snap-worthy areas.

Mines View Park is one of the most established tourist spots in Baguio. It offers breathtaking panoramic views of the mining town of Itogon and the surrounding mountains.

Aside from the sights, there are other touristy activities you can do here including donning traditional Cordillera attire, taking pictures with Saint Bernard dogs, and buying local snacks and souvenirs.

Strawberry farm in Baguio

One of the best things to do in Baguio is harvesting your own strawberries at the La Trinidad Strawberry Farm!

This farm is a berry lover’s paradise. You can pick and pay strawberries during the strawberry-picking season (usually from November to May). Or visit other parts of the farm where a variety of vegetables are being grown for an educational experience.

Don’t forget to try the strawberry taho — one of the delicacies of Baguio City.

Tam-Awan Village - one of the popular tourist spots in Baguio City

Learn more about the indigenous people of the Cordilleras when you visit the Tam-Awan village.

This living museum replicates a traditional Cordillera village. It features tribal huts, art galleries, and cultural performances. You can also partake in workshops on indigenous crafts and even try your hand at pottery.

Aside from cultural immersion, this is also one of the best Baguio tourist spots offering panoramic views of mountains and farms.

Camp John Hay is one of the most popular tourist spots in Baguio. It was once a rest and recreation facility for the United States Armed Forces and has since been transformed to a premier resort complex.

The main draw of Camp John Hay is its lush pine tree forests. It is reminiscent of the old Baguio City, before its widespread commercialization which resulted in forests being converted into commercial spaces.

Activities inside the camp include exploring its landscapes, visiting historical buildings, and doing various outdoor activities including golfing, hiking, and ziplining. You can also visit the Bell House , a museum offering insights into the history of the camp. Or the Cemetery of Negativism — one of the unique places to visit in Baguio that reminds visitors to let go and transform the past.

Bencab Museum - indigenous art

BenCab Museum is one of the most-visited spots near Baguio City, not just for its artistic value but also its snap-worthy aesthetics. If you love taking photos, then you shouldn’t miss this one.

Located in Tuba, Benguet, this museum is the brainchild of national artist Benedicto Cabrera (BenCab). It showcases a vast collection of contemporary and indigenous Philippine art.

Aside from the art gallery, the museum complex is also home to a mini-forest and organic gardens where you can relax and commune with nature and a café where you can indulge in delectable meals while enjoying the artistic ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Interestingly, one of the most famous attractions in Baguio City is a “haunted house” — the Diplomat Hotel. This abandoned structure was once a rest house for Dominican friars and then a military garrison and war prison during the WWII. In the 1970s, it was converted into a hotel. It ceased operations once the owner died.

The Diplomat Hotel is often considered one of the most haunted places in the Philippines. Currently, the hotel is closed to the public but you are still welcome to take pictures from outside and appreciate the views of the city from its hilltop location.

Located a short drive from Baguio, Bridal Veil Falls is a lovely roadside attraction. Named for its cascading waters that resemble a bridal veil, this waterfall is a peaceful spot for picture taking, swimming, and enjoying the cool mountain air.

There is no entrance fee here but there is a donation box at the bridge entry.

Strawberries in Baguio

No visit to Baguio is complete without exploring the vibrant Baguio Public Market. This bustling market is a treasure trove of local products. You can buy cheap fresh produce grown in the nearby mountains, woven textiles, and wood carvings.

It’s an excellent place to pick up souvenirs and savor local snacks like strawberry jam, peanut brittle, and ube (purple yam) products.

Igorot Stone Kingdom - one of the newest tourist spots in Baguio

Opened in 2021, the Igorot Stone Kingdom is one of the newest Baguio tourist spots to visit. It is a theme park based on the legend of Sab-angan, an Igorot Kingdom in the past.

The park showcases the indigenous life in the Cordilleras through its amphitheater-like stone walls, stone houses, and other displays. The view from the top areas offers a view of the surrounding valley and the sunset.

One of the newest attractions accessible via Baguio City is the Colors of StoBoSa (officially known as StoBoSa Hillside Homes Artwork).

It is a hillside community located in La Trinidad, where houses have been painted in various colors to create a mural. The mural encompasses three sitios in the barangay including Stonehill, Botiwtiw, and Sadjap (hence the term “StoBoSa”). It is considered the country’s first community artwork.

This tourist attraction can be visited on the way to the strawberry farm. Head to the bridge for the best spot to take pictures.

Pro Tip: Parking spaces are limited, so if you’re bringing your car it’s best to go on weekdays.

So far, we’ve covered the usual tourist attractions in Baguio City. If you’re looking for something new, then check out Mount Kalugong in La Trinidad.

Commuting here is easy since you only need to ride the same jeepney that goes to the strawberry farm. Ask the driver to drop you off at Mount Kalugong and then hike for 30 minutes to the eco-park. Once there, you’ll reach rock formations with a pleasant view of the town below and a café called Kape-An where you can enjoy pastries and brewed coffee while enjoying the view.

When you’re in Baguio, one of the things you should do is take a leisurely stroll along Session Road, the city’s bustling commercial and entertainment district.

This lively street is lined with restaurants, cafes, bars, boutiques, and souvenir shops. It’s the perfect place to experience the city’s vibrant urban life, enjoy a cup of freshly brewed coffee, or savor local delicacies.

Vinzon's strawberry cakes

Baguio is a haven for food enthusiasts, offering a range of local and international dishes.

Be sure to sample fresh strawberries, as well as strawberry-flavored taho. Other local favorites include vegetarian dishes at Oh My Gulay, pinikpikan and other local dishes at Father’s Daughter Restaurant, strawberry cake from Vizco’s Bakeshop, and tsokolate batirol at The Manor or Café by the Ruins.

For delicious pasalubong (souvenir) and treats, make a stop at the Good Shepherd Convent. This religious institution is known for producing some of Baguio’s most sought-after products — particularly strawberry jam, ube jam, peanut brittle, and more.

It’s worth noting that purchases made here support the charitable work of the nuns, particularly for educational funds for students enrolled at the Saint Louis University in Baguio.

Pro Tip : Head to Good Shepherd Convent early in the morning to avoid long lines. In normal hours, you need to get in line for around 30 minutes.

If your visit coincides with February, you’re in for a visual treat. The Panagbenga Flower Festival is Baguio’s annual flower extravaganza, featuring elaborate floats adorned with vibrant blooms, street dancing, and other cultural performances. The Panagbenga Festival , which means “ season of blooming ” in the Kankanaey language, originated as a symbol of the city’s resilience and commitment to rebuilding after a devastating earthquake in 1990. The month-long celebration is a testament to the city’s nickname as the “ Flower Festival Capital of the Philippines .”

The Penagbenga Festival is one of the most popular festivals in the Philippines. It’s a must-see tradition for both locals and foreign tourists alike.

Baguio City is the capital of Benguet Province. From Manila, it will take at least 4 hours (up to 6 hours) to get there depending on your route.

Genesis Transport and Victory Liner buses offer a direct trip from Pasay or Cubao to Baguio. Pangasinan Solid North Transit also offers P2P buses from PITX or Cubao to Baguio.

Book your bus ticket from Manila to Baguio here.

There are different hotels, transients houses, and Airbnbs you can book in Baguio City. If you’re looking for a place with convenient location, we recommend looking for an accommodation along Session Road or near Burnham Park.

Here are some recommended Baguio hotels :

  • Luxury : The Manor at Camp John Hay

Riding a scooter - one of the best budget travel hacks

Growing up in Baguio City, nestled among the picturesque mountains of the Philippines, provided me with a unique sense of home that I’ve carried with me throughout my life. The crisp mountain air, the scent of pine trees, and the vibrant culture of the city shaped my identity in profound ways. From exploring the bustling streets of Session Road to seeking solace in the serene beauty of Burnham Park, Baguio City was not just a place where I lived; it was a part of who I am. The memories of attending the Panagbenga Festival with family and friends, or enjoying steaming cups of strawberry taho on chilly mornings, are etched into my heart. The sense of community in Baguio City, where neighbors felt like extended family and strangers greeted each other with warm smiles, fostered a deep connection to my surroundings. Although life may have taken me far from the city’s embrace, the spirit of Baguio continues to reside within me, a constant reminder of the place I will always call home.

We miss you friend hahaha 😀

I’m attaching here the ingredients and recipe of the chee cheong fun at taman esplanad that ive been eating every twice a week.

Ingredients:

For Chee Cheong Fun:

250g rice flour 2 tablespoons tapioca flour 2 1/2 cups water 1/2 teaspoon salt Vegetable oil for greasing

For Sweet Sauce:

3 tablespoons soy sauce 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce 2 tablespoons oyster sauce 2 tablespoons sesame oil 1 tablespoon sugar 1 cup water 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)

For Fish Curry:

500g fish fillets (such as snapper or mackerel), cut into chunks 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1 onion, finely chopped 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon ginger, minced 2 tablespoons curry powder 1 can (400ml) coconut milk 1 cup water Salt and pepper to taste Chopped cilantro for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the Chee Cheong Fun batter: In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, tapioca flour, water, and salt. Whisk until smooth. Let the batter rest for 30 minutes.

Grease a large, shallow heatproof dish or a plate with vegetable oil. Pour a thin layer of the batter onto the greased dish. Steam over high heat for 5-7 minutes until set. Repeat with the remaining batter.

Once cooked, carefully roll up each piece of Chee Cheong Fun and slice into bite-sized pieces. Set aside.

Prepare the sweet sauce: In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, sugar, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.

For the fish curry: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or pan over medium heat. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Sauté until fragrant and onions are translucent.

Stir in curry powder and cook for another minute until aromatic.

Add fish chunks to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly browned.

Pour in coconut milk and water. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and cook for 8-10 minutes until the fish is cooked through and the curry has thickened slightly.

To serve, arrange the sliced Chee Cheong Fun on a plate. Drizzle with sweet sauce and ladle fish curry over the top. Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade Chee Cheong Fun with sweet sauce and fish curry!

Miss ko na chee cheong fun. 🙁 Lang malapit na malaysian restaurant dito sa’min tsaka wala sila mga ganyang street food haha. Pati yung teh tarik iba lasa.
