Bayside is a band that I see every year because when you see them perform and how they act on stage you can tell they love what they are doing. As for the Trocadero... A main speaker blew out 10 seconds into the first song and it was never fixed. Also any sort of moshing was stopped by security. So it was a disappointing experience for myself.

Bayside played a really great show to a packed room of devoted fans singing all the words. They played with such energy and heart. This was the 3rd time i've seen them but the first time i saw them play a headline show. Was great to see them take the lead and play more than a half hour set. Afterwards they came out and had a chat with all the fans, Jack with his sling on and Nick just having a friendly chat with the fans. Was a great night, my all time favourite band at my favourite Perth venue.
It was my first show, and i cried. I went to heaven. They are perfect and im so thankful for bayside. They were so sweet and they played wonderful. Best band ever.

BAYSIDE announce "The Worse Things Than Being Alive Tour" with FINCH
Punk-rock vets Bayside are teaming up with Finch and Armor for Sleep for a headlining tour, and they've released a new single for the occasion. The song, "Castaway," is fast, catchy and classic Bayside.
"I think 'Castaway' is one of the most exciting songs that we've written in 24 years," vocalist Anthony Raneri commented. "We really wanted to keep the listener on their toes and on the edge of their seat. We hope that between the fast pace, odd timings and metaphors that as soon as it's over, you need to listen again."
Check it out below.
Dubbed "The Worse Things Than Being Alive Tour," the trek is set to kick off on April 3rd and wraps up on May 5th, hitting NYC, Boston, Philly, Nashville, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago and several other cities. Filling out the roster are newer Nashville pop punks Winona Fighter, who will serve as the opening act.
"We're so excited to be touring with a couple of real pioneers in this genre," Raneri said of Finch and Armor for Sleep. "It's been close to 20 years since we played a show with either band. So excited to finally run it back."
Tickets go on sale today (Jan. 26) at noon ET. See all dates below.

Bayside announce new album, tour, and opener contest
by Zenae Zukowski | Sep 24, 2019 | New Music , News , Releases , Touring | 0 comments
New York punk act Bayside have announced a U.S fall tour in support of their new album Interrobang , which will be released on October 4th via Hopeless Records. Dubbed The Interrobang Tour is scheduled to kick off on November 6th in Indianapolis, IN and it will be a series of “small club shows that see the band playing some of their smallest rooms in years.” The group will be joined by their special guests Sincere Engineer (November dates) and Capstan (December dates). Presale and VIP tickets are available now. General on-sale will begin this Friday (27th).
In addition to their small club shows, Bayside have welcomed unsigned, non-touring bands to submit themselves for the opportunity to open at their local show date. This applies to all shows aside from their scheduled show in Huntington, NY. The support act will be up to the fans to decide as they will vote for who they would like to see perform, with one band being selected for each show.
Frontman Anthony Raneri explained:
“When we were starting out as a band, there were a lot of times that it felt like our wheels were spinning. We felt like we were trying so hard and often felt like we weren’t gaining any ground. What helped us to keep moving forward were the glimmers of excitement and validation that would come every once in a while. Someone on the street telling you they liked your band or a band you played with telling you that you sounded good. Nothing ever made us feel like we were on the right track than getting a chance to play a well-attended show to a room full of people. A real opportunity to play your songs and be your best because if you can make that room full of people smile, it could be the validation or the spark that a band needs to know that they’re on the right track. We put this contest together to try and give 29 different bands that jolt of energy that we felt like we needed at times. A chance to play your songs and be your best in front of a room full of people The rules are pretty simple, we are only accepting submissions from bands that are not signed and aren’t touring. The definition of those things are at our discretion. That’s pretty much it. We won’t disqualify any bands based on genre or even our opinions of them. If you are a local, unsigned band, you are welcome to be a part of the contest. The contest is fan voting. This means that your fans or friends will come and vote and whoever gets the most votes will open the show in their city. The contest will live on the Bayside website for everyone to see with links to all of the band’s music. We encourage our fans to listen to these bands that are working hard and give them a shot. If you’re a Bayside fan just heading to our site to pick up tickets or the new record, we would love for you to listen to at least the bands that are submitted for your city and vote. You may find your new favorite band right in your backyard. “Pay to play” has become a popular term to describe the practice of local bands having to either buy on to bigger shows or sell advance tickets to earn their spot. This isn’t a that. We have always tried to treat every band that opens for us as a valued member of the show or tour. Everyone deserves to be there and we are thankful for everyone there whether they are in the crowd, on the stage or working the box office. You will be paid to play. You can set up merch. You can soundcheck.”

Posted by Beth Casteel | Sep 24, 2019 | News , Tour Announcements | 0 |
Following the news of their plans to release a new album, Bayside have announced that they’ll be bringing their eighth studio album, Interrobang , to life with a Winter headlining tour.
That’s right, announced earlier today, the band will soon be embarking on their Interrobang Tour , which is set to start November 6 in Indianapolis, Indiana and it’ll wrap up a few weeks later on December 22 in Omaha, Nebraska.

2024 Texas Open scores: Top Masters contenders Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy contending in San Antonio
Two of the favorites at augusta national are getting good work in at tpc san antonio.
If someone this time next week tells you that Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth are in contention to win a golf tournament, you are going to want to get to a television as soon as possible. As it stands this week, both are among the top 15 on the 2024 Texas Open leaderboard looking to enter the 88th Masters -- the first major championship of 2024 -- with some momentum.
McIlroy followed his Thursday 69 with a Friday 70 to sit six back of leader Akshay Bhatia with 36 holes to go. However, he's just one stroke behind second place, currently occupied by Brendon Todd and Russell Henley. Bhatia is still holding onto the top spot after scoring 63-70 in the opening two rounds as he looks for his first PGA Tour victory.
McIlroy's struggles this year -- iron play and huge numbers at bad times -- have been obvious. He has just one bogey through 36 holes, gaining strokes on the field each of the first two days. Whether that's attributed to a visit with swing coach Butch Harmon or simply time working on the swing is up in the air, but what's indisputable is that he's hitting approach shots with more consistency.
"Hit a couple of good shots into the par 3s," he said. "It's been better, definitely better than the last few weeks. Still work to do but heading in the right direction.
"I think [avoiding big numbers] was the goal going into those last two weeks and obviously into this week was just trying to get a lot of that out of the system and playing a bit smarter," he said. "Hitting the shots that I know that I can hit, but at the same time, I'm a little more confident in my golf swing than I was a few weeks ago so that makes it easier.
He had another exchange that was fascinating given where he's at and what's at stake over the next two weeks. Here's how it went.
You said on Wednesday that good Augusta golf is boring golf. Is that kind of what you're playing now? McIlroy: "Yeah, yeah. That's it, yeah. Ton of pars." Continuing that to next week? McIlroy: "Yeah, yeah, for sure. And not just for big major championship golf, that is what you need to do." Is that difficult to kind of get in that mindset because you do see pins and you do see things ... McIlroy: "Yeah, I can do it. Like LACC, the U.S. Open last year is probably the best example of me doing that; [I] was very patient. St. Andrews a little bit, even though the scoring was low. Same sort of thing, you pick and choose where you're aggressive and then you're conservative a lot of the time. You add it up at the end of the week, you're always going to be pretty close." Is there something mentally that you do kind of right in the moment, or is that just something that you focus on in advance? McIlroy: "I think it's an acceptance that you're going to make a lot of pars. It's maybe going to feel frustrating at times, but knowing that you're not losing ground by doing it and accepting that fact, that's a big key to it."
This describes Scottie Scheffler's two-year run well: immense discipline, even when it doesn't feel like things are breaking the way you want. Sticking with a game plan. Nothing that's going to get you on a highlight reel but plenty of things that will get you in the winner's circle. McIlroy destroys the par 5s at Augusta National. If he plays par golf everywhere else, he will almost certainly be in the hunt on the weekend.
Whether he will be disciplined enough to do that for an entire week of the Masters remains to be seen, but his movement in the week leading into the only major he lacks is heading in the right direction.
Speaking of circles ... and squares ... and no pars at all ...
Spieth birdied four of his first five holes at TPC San Antonio on Friday and three more later in his round. Through 36 holes, he has put the following on his card.
- 1 hole-in-one
- 1 double bogey
Spieth is -- I believe this is obvious by now -- the least-normal golfer in the world . After two rounds, he's (somehow) 3 under and just two back of McIlroy going into the final 36 holes.
The encouraging part regarding Spieth is that he believes he's playing tremendous golf , and any time he's played even remotely good golf leading into the Masters, he has put together a great week at Augusta National . The golf right now, well, it's wild ... but it's also quite good at times.
Spieth has 11 birdies and an eagle through two rounds, numbers one will certainly take at Augusta. For him, it will come down to doing what Rory is doing this week, which is eliminating big numbers at a big-boy golf course six days from now.
Both McIlroy and Spieth are among the top six favorites to win the Masters. Both are live to do so right now based on how they are playing. McIlroy is calmer and less volatile than he has been recently. Spieth is his usual, wild self which he can (I think!) mostly manage, especially at Augusta.
They're worth following this weekend at TPC San Antonio, especially with what's coming next week at 1,100 miles to the East.

2024 Valero Texas Open odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions
P layers will have one last chance to tune their game before the Masters this week at the 2024 Valero Texas Open , which is once again being held at TPC San Antonio. Corey Conners will look to defend his title after winning the event last year with a score of 15-under par.
Below, we look at the 2024 Valero Texas Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions .
Rory McIlroy typically doesn't play the week before the Masters but he's in the Texas Open field this year and the betting favorite to win at +1000. Ludvig Aberg (+1200), Hideki Matsuyama (+1800) and Collin Morikawa (+2500) are among the other big names teeing it up this week.
TPC San Antonio is a par 72 and plays at 7,438 yards with very little elevation change throughout the course. It's not an overly challenging course, with the winning score being between 11-under and 20-under par over the last 8 years. However, if the wind picks up it will have a big impact on scoring.

Valero Texas Open – Expert picks
Odds provided by BetMGM Sportsbook ; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 3:53 p.m. ET.
Ludvig Aberg (+1200)
Aberg is only in his 1st full season on the PGA Tour, but he's already one of the best ball strikers in the world and that's highly advantageous on this course. He ranks 24th in strokes gained: tee-to-green this season and his putting isn't holding him back too much (57th in SG), so he's a perfect fit for TPC San Antonio, even after missing the cut here last year.
Corey Conners (+2200)
It's always hard to expect the defending champion to win in back-to-back years but Conners' course history and ball-striking prowess make him too good to ignore. He's won here twice since 2019 (his only 2 PGA wins) and hasn't finished worse than 35th in his last 5 starts in this event, using his stellar iron play to propel him to 2 victories.
Valero Texas Open picks – Contenders
Keith mitchell (+5500).
After blowing a 54-hole lead at the Valspar Championship 2 weeks ago, Mitchell missed the cut at the Texas Children's Houston Open over the weekend after finishing 3-over in his last 5 holes to miss it by 1 shot. He's still among the best players on tour from tee to green, ranking 8th in strokes gained, and he's finished 17th and 26th in 2 starts here during his career. He's due for a bounce-back.
Erik van Rooyen (+6600)
van Rooyen has not been good around the greens this season, which is holding him back from contending more, but he's 48th on tour in strokes gained: tee-to-green and 19th total. Before he missed the cut at the Players Championship, he finished 8th, 2nd and 25th in 3 consecutive tournaments.
Valero Texas Open picks – Long shots
Ryan moore (+10000).
Moore is quietly playing well right now, finishing 31st, 5th and 45th in his last 3 starts. Impressively, he's 12th in SG: tee-to-green, including 4th in approach, but his putting has been horrific (173rd). TPC San Antonio is more about ball striking than putting, which has helped him finish in the top 10 twice before, so he's a worthy long shot this week.
Matt Kuchar (+12500)
Kuchar has finished 3rd, 2nd, 12th and 7th in his last 4 starts at this tournament, an event he plays every year. Looking at his stats from this season gives you pause when it comes to betting him because he isn't playing well (6 missed cuts in 8 starts), but it's hard to ignore his recent finishes at TPC San Antonio.
