Sapphire Princess activities 2023 daily schedule onboard + entertainment
Below is the Princess Patter (aka daily schedule of Princess cruise activities ) from 5 days of an 11-day cruise on the Sapphire Princess in 2023.
Every cruise on the Sapphire Princess and every other Princess cruise ship has onboard activities led by the entertainment team.
Below will show you an example of an entertainment schedule of onboard activities on the Sapphire Princess!
Of course, your cruise may (will!) vary, but this is just to give you an idea of what kinds of things you can expect, what time you may be able to expect certain activities, and more!
Onboard activities offered on sea days will be different from port days.
Because you will be on a cruise ship all day long, sea days will have more activities throughout the day!
Because most people tend to get off the cruise ship on port days, there will be less activities offered while the cruise ship is in port.
But as soon as the Sapphire Princess has started sailing, you can expect entertainment activities to get started!
You can stay on the cruise ship during port days if you want. It’s not required to get off.
The daily schedule of Sapphire Princess activities
When you are on the Sapphire Princess, you will get a daily activities schedule every day.
On the day you get on the Sapphire Princess, it will be in your cabin when you arrive.
More of inside a Princess cruise ship cabin: cruise ship bathroom
For the rest of the days of the cruise, a paper version of the schedule will be delivered to you every evening by your stateroom steward (aka housekeeping person).
This daily activities schedule used to officially be called the Princess Patter, although nowadays it’s simply a schedule of “Princess event listings.”
Also on the daily schedule of cruise activities you will find the hours of things around the ship.
The hours of certain things may change based on whether the Sapphire Princess is at sea or in port.
The hours are on the back of the Princess Patter.
More about a Princess cruise:
- Princess cruise food in the dining room
- Princess cruise wifi
Journeyview on the Princess app
Another way you can see what’s going on around the Sapphire Princess is by using your Princess app.
The Princess app can be useful for a number of things, and one of those things is to see the onboard activities schedule!
On the Princess app, the onboard cruise activities will be under “journeyview.”
You may be able to start to see this before you even get on the cruise ship.
While you can look at it before you get on the cruise ship to start to give you an idea, it’s very likely that what you see before you get on the cruise ship in journeyview is not completely updated.
So just keep that in mind.
And if you don’t see something listed that you believe is an activity during every cruise, it could just be that it hasn’t been added yet.
The cruise activities can change even during the cruise, so you can expect that it’s very possible that it can change if you’re looking at it before the cruise.
Bookmarking activities on the Princess app
If you are starting to see cruise activities listed in journeyview, you may notice that it appears that events are “filling up.”
It’s possible to “bookmark” an activity.
But that is all it is.
It is a “bookmark” for your reference.
An event that appears to be filling up just means that many people have shown interest in the activity and have bookmarked it.
It does not mean people are making reservations.
That is not how you make a reservation for any of the activities.
And in fact, you don’t need to make a reservation to attend most activities on a cruise ship.
There may be very special circumstances in which you do need to do something in advance for very special activities, but this is not normal.
In general, even if you see on the Princess app that an event is “full,” you can still show up.
Likewise, you do not need to bookmark an event in order to show up to an activity.
More below for the day-by-day schedule of cruise activities of the Sapphire Princess!

Sapphire Princess activities schedule
This is a Sapphire Princess daily activity schedule from April and May 2023.
There’s embarkation day, 2 sea days, a glacier sea day, and a port day.
No 2 cruises will be the same!
While your cruise will be different, you can also make note of the hours in port and hours or various activities around the cruise ship.
Day 1: Embarkation day
See more about what an embarkation day is like:
- Embarkation day in Vancouver
Day 2: Sea day (formal night)
On most cruises, the first formal night will be on the first sea day.
On a 7-day cruise there will usually be 2 formal nights.
Day 3: Sea day
Day 4: Glacier sea day
Day 5: Port day (8am to 5:30pm)
And those are some cruise activities you may find on the Sapphire Princess!
I was on the Sapphire Princess in April and May 2023. Your experience may vary!
All of the above is based on my experience and understanding! Your experience may vary! Your understanding may vary!

Aidablu wiki.
AIDAblu is AIDA Kreutzfahrten's 7th liner. Between 2004-2007, vessel's name was used for a former AIDA liner - later renamed Ocean Village 2 ( Pacific Jewel / MS Karnika ). Ship's Godmother was Jette Joop (jewelry designer). The vessel was christened on February 9, 2010, in the Port of Hamburg on the ice-covered Elbe River. The naming ceremony was accompanied by numerous street artists, ice carvers, and there was a traditional fireworks display.
AIDAblu (Sphinx-class vessel) is half a deck bigger than the sister-ships AIDAluna, AIDAdiva and AIDAbella, and was followed by AIDAmar and AIDAsol. AIDAblu holds the record for fastest English Channel crossing by cruise vessel with time, between Le Havre (Paris) and Southampton, of 6 hours and 45 minutes (2011).
AIDA Blu also has one of the largest cruise ship wellness centers - sized 2600 m2. The ship provides a biking station and the supply of bicycles are used by passengers on shore excursions in ports of call. AIDAblu has the first brewery at sea, which permanently produces 3 kinds of draft beer stored in three 1000-L service copper tanks (ZKGs units) in the onboard storage cellar. Recycled seawater is used as brewing water. A special challenge was the requirements for ship-specific fixings, space-saving construction, compliance with the USPH standard (standards of the American public health authority).
There was another cruise ship named "AidaBlu". P&O Australia's Pacific Jewel was formerly known as Crown Princess (Princess Cruises), A-Rosa Blu (A-Rosa Cruises), AIDAblu (from 2004 to 2007, for AIDA Kreutzfahrten) and Ocean Village 2 (for the Carnival's Ocean Village brand).
German is the language that is largely used on board, as the majority of AIDA customers are Germans and German-speaking Europeans (Austrians, Swiss). AIDA customers tend to be quite active, so older Germans usually prefer more traditional lines on the German-speaking market.

My Family Saw the A23a Iceberg While Cruising in Antarctica & it Was EPIC!
We witnessed the A23a Iceberg in Antarctica: the largest iceberg on Earth. The first tourists ever to do so. And it was breathtaking !
Over Christmas 2023 my family and I took the adventure of a lifetime – a mindblowing cruise to Antarctica aboard the Sapphire Princess.
We saw majestic landscapes, penguins, seals, whales, and glaciers during our 12-day voyage. But the absolute highlight was seeing the largest iceberg in the world, known as the A23a Iceberg.
An Epic Itinerary Change
Due to the world’s biggest iceberg’s proximity to Elephant Island on December 26th, the captain announced that we were cutting short our visit there to detour to see the A23a Iceberg. It was so exciting!
That evening, we were enjoying dinner when an urgent announcement came over the loudspeakers. The ship was approaching the infamous iceberg and all passengers needed to hurry to the outer decks immediately.
We abandoned our half-eaten meal and raced outside into the freezing winds. Far in the distance, an ominous shape emerged from the gloomy mist.
Far in the distance, a massive white shape materialized out of the gloom. As we drew nearer, the true enormous A23a Iceberg size became apparent. This towering tabular iceberg was a floating island, with cliffs higher than skyscrapers.
A23a Iceberg Statistics
As we sailed nearer, its staggering size became clear. The A23a Iceberg is colossal, dwarfing our cruise ship. At 3,900 square kilometers (over twice the size of London!), it’s the largest iceberg in the world.
Taller than the Empire State Building and weighing over 3 trillion tons, this icy behemoth had broken off from Antarctica’s Filchner-Ronne Ice Shelf back in 1986.
The ice shelf is where Russia had its old research station, and one of the Antarctica experts aboard told us they had to move it when they realized that the A23a Iceberg was going to calve off from Antarctica!
After being stuck in place for years, it suddenly began drifting through the Southern Ocean in 2020. Now it’s heading toward the South Georgia Islands.
Experiencing the World’s Largest Iceberg
We were all awestruck as we passed seemingly dangerously close to this floating island of ice.
Jagged cliffs lined its edges, some over 100 feet high, formed from centuries of accumulation. Violent waves crashed against them, sending spray high into the air.
Our large ship pitched and rolled in the swelling sea, despite the seasoned skill of the captain and crew.
The immense scale was hard to comprehend, even seeing it with my own eyes. Our vessel looked puny and insignificant next to the vast expanse of the iceberg.
I alternated between snapping photos furiously with trembling hands and simply staring in wonder. Of course, we captured as many photos and selfies as possible with this once-in-a-lifetime backdrop.
But I’ll never forget standing on the deck in person, bundled in my warmest gear, watching house-sized chunks of ice calve off into the sea with a crash.
Making History
Adding an extra layer of drama was the knowledge that we were making history. We were aboard the first civilian ship to ever reach the A23a Iceberg. Only a single research vessel had managed to visit it previously. We felt amazed!
My son was one of just a large handful of children to EVER see the biggest iceberg on Earth! We were all humbled to witness this remote place so few have seen.
Originally, we were going to take a pass of the A23a Iceberg from both the port and starboard side. However, the largest iceberg in the world was churning up a pretty decent snowstorm, so we had to settle for a single pass by.
It Ended Too Quickly
As quickly as it materialized, the epic iceberg was lost again to the mist. I’m incredibly grateful we detoured our Antarctic cruise to behold such a monumental sight.
I can now officially say I’ve glimpsed one of the modern wonders of the natural world! This unplanned excursion easily became the highlight of our entire two-week odyssey to the White Continent.
Seeing the largest iceberg on Earth with my family is a travel memory I’ll forever cherish.
When you’re traveling abroad, always be sure to buy travel insurance! We love Safety Wing because we think it has reasonable rates for all ages.
