9 AM – Barge (Ferry) Departure: Commence your day with a scenic barge departure, setting the stage for a day of exploration. 10 AM – Arrival at K’gari: Touch down on K’gari and kick off your adventure with a thrilling 4WD ride through sand tracks and the captivating rainforest to Central Station. Morning – Central Station Wangoolba Creek Boardwalk (Rainforest): Enjoy a refreshing lunch amidst the lush surroundings at Central Station Wangoolba Creek Boardwalk, featuring delightful salad and cold meat buns. Afternoon – Post-Lunch Activities: Engage in post-lunch activities at Emerald Lake, Wabby, Eli Creek, or Lake Birrabeen, carefully chosen based on optimal tide conditions. Evening – Arrival at Beach House, Eurong: Conclude your day at the Beach House in Eurong, where you’ll prepare a delicious meal. Choose between savory Chicken Curry or classic Pasta Bolognese, with vegetarian options always available.

BREAKFAST – (7 AM): Rise and shine to a delightful breakfast spread featuring cereal, muesli, fruit, and yogurt, or enjoy a hearty option with bread and spreads, ensuring a nutritious start to your day. MORNING – Post-Breakfast Activities: After breakfast, dive into morning activities at your choice of Emerald Lake, Wabby, Eli Creek, or Lake Birrabeen—tailored to the tides for an optimal experience. LUNCH – (12 PM): Indulge in a satisfying lunch at the campsite. Choose from wraps with salad and cold meat or falafels, fueling up for the adventures ahead. Take this time to pack up and prepare for the afternoon. AFTERNOON – Lake McKenzie (Boorangoora) Exploration: Venture into the pristine beauty of Lake McKenzie for the afternoon. Immerse yourself in the crystal-clear waters and relax on the iconic white sands, creating lasting memories. EVENING – Departure Preparation (3:30 PM): Head back to the barge/ferry around 3:30 PM to prepare for departure at 5 PM. • The tour itinerary can change due to seasons, tides and weather conditions
• If there is only 1 x 4WD vehicle due to low numbers or cancellations, you will not be able to drive the lead vehicle
• After booking, all passengers must reconfirm with the operator by 12pm the day prior to departure
• All people wanting to drive must reconfirm and attend the 7.30am safety briefing on the day of departure

Swimming. The ocean and waters surrounding K’gari have multiple riptides, no lifeguards patrolling the beaches, and known for shark attacks. We highly recommend NOT to go swimming in the open ocean, regardless of your swimming competency. The weather is quite mild year-round. The temperatures during the Summer reach the low 30’s during the day and Winter nights can hover around 10 degrees Celsius during the night. This trip requires a moderate level of fitness as it involves a number of short walks, allowing you to really get among nature. Please bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes, comfortable clothing, a cozzie (swimwear), and a towel. Group participation makes up a lot of this trip, so you’ll be required to help with the preparation of meals and cleaning up. These are the kind of tasks that bring a group closer together.

We do not encourage customers to rely heavily on tour times due tides, winds and off road conditions, and Sunset Safaris takes no responsibility for the missing of ferry’s or tours in such circumstances. How long is the cruise over to Moreton Island?

The trip each way is approximately 50 minutes. However, this can vary depending on the weather conditions and whether we see pods of Dolphins or Whales along the way which we will stop and interact with.

Where can I park to board the boat at Newport Marina?

The marina has free all day and overnight parking on site. Once you have parked your car, please make your way down to the commercial section which is at the end of the marina.

Are there bathroom facilities on board the boat?

Yes. There are two toilets/change areas and an outdoor freshwater shower on the back of the boat.

Is there food and drinks available to purchase on board?

Yes. There is a fully licensed bar on board available to purchase soft drinks, alcohol and snacks. Please note, there is no EFTPOS available onboard – cash only. Free tea and coffee, lunch and afternoon tea are all included in the price.

What's for lunch?

We offer a healthy lunch consisting of freshly baked bread rolls and roast chicken cooked in the early hours of the morning, along with salads. Please note if you are vegetarian, you are still catered for and can prepare yourself a fresh salad roll, as all of our ingredients are separated at the time of preparation and serving.

Are strollers allowed on board?

Yes. If you require assistance getting on and off the boat, please ask the friendly staff on board.

Is there comfortable seating available on board?

Yes. Chairs, tables and lounges are available in the air-conditioned saloon area and there is also a top deck, back deck and front deck for you to enjoy your day out on the water.

Is the ferry wheelchair friendly?

Unfortunately, no, the boat is not wheelchair accessible. Mobility and movement will be an issue in disembarkation/embarkation from the vessel.

How do I disembark onto the island for the lunch break?

We will anchor as close as possible in the calm water to the beach and you may either swim across to the island to enjoy your free time or we can take you across in our safety vessel (also known as a tender or rubber duck).

Do I need to wear a wetsuit for Snorkeling?

Yes. All participants MUST wear a wetsuit for their own safety, to help with buoyancy in the water and also to protect you from any sharp objects when snorkelling the wrecks.

How long is the snorkeling tour?

Around 50 minutes long, and you MUST be able to swim as you will be swimming a length of approximately 600 metres in all weather and tidal conditions.

Can I snorkel the wrecks on my own and not participate in the guided tour?

No. Due to Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Legislation and Risk Assessments, we are unable to allow patrons to snorkel alone at the Moreton Island Wrecks whilst on our cruise.

Great day. Loved diving with the sharks and turtles 🐢

Such a lovely Island and great under water life. Liked this tour a lot cause we could go our own way a bit but could still connect with the others on the tour if we wanted to. Great day!

Even despite the wind conditions it was a wonderful experience to share with friends! Well organized.

Had a great time! It was our first organised tour here in Australia, and we loved it! Saw soo many fish and marine life. A very good start to our vacation!

Had some family over from interstate so took them out of Brisbane for the day & they loved it. It was nice not having to worry about anything with the whole day sorted from woe to go. Lunch was a nice addition with ample to go around.

Took the family out for an amazing time in Moreton ISland. The kids loved seeing the sparkly fish going by and we got to relax too. Crew on board were super friendly.

Prose: The staff are friendly and nice. Positive vibes. Nice breakfast. Cons: Snorkeling mouthpiece was not sanitized properly, it just cleaned up with water and there wasn’t any new to buy. Lunch quality can be improved.

Both my partner and I had a sensational time sbd would n have highly recommended this to everyone, all aspects of the cruise was nice, I enjoyed being on the cargo net. All The staff are wonderful n the Captains wealth of knowledge was top shelf.
